Welcome to my Shooting Range FAQ for Resident Evil 4, I hope you enjoy
it, as much as I liked doing it.

Thank you guys for all your comments/suggestions/contributions, I really
try to answer most of the E-mails I recieve ^^. Do not be shy and send
your comments =P.

V 1.0 Update: I'm sorry guys! I had a lot of homework and I could not
update this! I hope this update makes up for the lack of attention this
FAQ had been getting on my part.

| II. S H O O T I N G    R A N G E           |
--------------------------------------------

Here it is, the main section of this FAQ. Below are the rules of the Range
as well as the Point Chart. Next, I will cover the two ways of beating
the Range.

============================================
             1. Overview
============================================

The Shooting Range is one of the many mini-games that Resident Evil 4 has
to offer. The point of the game is to shoot as many villager targets and
possible.

-If you get more than 3000 points you win a bottlecap.
-In order to get the rare bottlecap, shoot every villager target (NOT ASHLEY).
Alternate way for getting the rare bottlecap: Getting a high-score.**
-Sometimes a villager will be holding dynamite, shoot the dynamite to destroy
all the targets around the villager holding the dynamite.

In each challenge there are 25 villager targets. Most of them are men, while
only 5 are women targets.

If you shoot 5 villagers in a row, a Salazar target will appear, be sure
to shoot Salazar.

------------------------------------------
|                Point Chart               |
|------------------------------------------|
| Target            |             Points   |
|------------------------------------------|
| Male Villager     | 50 regular, 100 head |
| Female Villager   | 50 regular, 200 head |
| Salazar           |      500 regular     |
| Ashley            |     -1000 regular    |
| Fireworks*        | 300 once per round   |
------------------------------------------

Point Chart Contributors:

*TynanRyu. Making the fireworks go off earns you 300 points. To get the fire
works, shoot the moon and then the castle.
**T. Sloane. You can check the current high scores by checking the sigh on the
wall to the right of the merchant.**

============================================
             2. Rapid-fire
============================================

A) Equipment

- Shotgun - Firepower 4.0
         Firing Speed 1.53
         Reload Speed 2.43
         Capacity 12
- TMP - Firepower 0.40
     Firing Speed 0.10
     Reload Speed 2.37
     Capacity 50
- TMP Ammo x100
- Shotgun Ammo x30
- Hand Grenade

B) Pros / Cons

1. Pros:
+You can hit several targets at the same time.
+The TMP allows for quick firing.
+Final: Better for getting the Rare Bottlecap / Hitting every target.

2. Cons:
-If you're using the Shotgun and an Ashley target pops up near you, you
may hit her on accident because of the Shotgun's spread damage.
-The TMP will break your villagers combo most of the time thanks to the
    recoil.
-Final: Bad for getting high scores.

C) Strategy

For the first two challenges (A and B) Rapid-fire can let you get your Rare
Bottle caps AND a highscore, use the TMP as a handgun and try to hit 5
villagers in a row to make the Salazar target appear. When Salazar appears,
use the TMP to hit him as the Shotgun sucks with faraway targets.

D) Rare Bottlecap Strategy

Since the A and B challenges have little to none Ashley targets, use the
shotgun to hit every target regardless of headshots.
For C and D I suggest you use either the TMP or change to Sniping Mode.

Happy Hunting! If you have another strategy and want to send it, feel free
to do it, you'll be credited.

============================================
              3. Sniping
============================================

A) Equipment

- Handgun - Firepower 1.0
           Firing Speed 0.33
           Reload Speed 1.47
           Capacity 16
- Rifle   - Firepower 4.0
           Firing Speed 0.67
           Reload Speed 3.23
           Capacity 18
- Rifle Ammo x30
- Handgun Ammo x 50
- Hand Grenade

B) Pros / Cons

1. Pros
+You can get headshots easily with the Handgun on earlier levels and with
    the Rifle on later challenges.
+The Handgun allows for quick firing.
   +The Handgun is accurate.
+Final: Great for high-scores once you get the hang of it.

2. Cons
-If you dilly-dally with the Rifle too much, the targets will be gone.
-The Rifle is slow when reloading.
-Final: Hard to snipe at first.

C) Strategies:

1.Typhlosion's Strategy

For the A and B row challenges, use your handgun to land in some nasty head-
shots to the villagers, if the target is too far, do not risk it - shoot the
villager on the body, that way, you will not lose your combo. Keep shooting
them and getting combos to make Salazar appear up to four times!

2. Zack Jarvis' Strategy

For A and B I pretty much just stuck to simple body shots on all the villagers,
making sure to keep my combos up for all the Salazar Targets since they are
the majority of the points. Because:
-25 villagers x 50 points each comes to 1250 plus the 2000 you get at least
from your Salazar Targets gets you your bottle cap everytime.
Just make sure to get the rare one with headshots first time through.

D) Rare Bottlecap Strategy

Use your handgun to hit every target in the body so you don't risk missing
and/or hitting the Ashley target. If a dynamite man pops up, take out your
rifle and shoot the dynamite.

Happy Hunting! If you have another strategy and want to send it, feel free
to do it, you'll be credited.

--------------------------------------------
| III. P R I Z E S                           |
--------------------------------------------

Here is the list of the bottlecaps and pesetas that you can get on the Shooting
Gallery, remember that to get bottlecaps you need to score at least 3000. To
get the rare bottlecap (The last bottlecap from left to right) you need to
hit every single target except Ashley. You can miss Salazar targets.

I will list them from left to right.

============================================
             1. Row A Prizes

============================================
             2. Row B Prizes
============================================

Row B deals with most of the village enemies. Being a native spanish speaker,
I have included a translation for all the villager quotes.

Random Comment: You know how it's a little hard to play this game with
the volume way up? Everyone in my house speaks spanish.

============================================
             3. Row C Prizes
============================================

Row C is composed mostly of cult member enemies. Translation is included
for the Castle enemies. The Merchant and Las Plagas also make an appearance
in this row.

A) Merchant
Description: The misterious merchant.
Quote: 'Welcome'
Where is the quote used in the game: Several places, when you talk with him
for the first time in one of his many camps.

B) Zealot w/ scythe
Description: A cult member wearing a black tunic. He has a scythe on his
hands.
Quote: 'Sí, quiero matar...'
Translation: Yes, I want to kill...
Where is the quote used in the game: A lot of times in the castle area.

C) Zealot w/ shield
Description: The name pretty much gives it, a cult member with a flail on
one hand and a giant wooden shield on the other. He's wearing a black hooded
tunic.
Quote: 'Muere...muere...muere...muere'
Translation: Die...die...die...die...
Where is the quote used in the game: A lot of times in the castle area, when
they are running after you.

D) Zealot w/ bowgun
Description: Another cult member, this time with a bowgun and a skull helmet.
Quote: 'Bwaaaaaaaaaaaa'
Where is the quote used in the game: A lot of times in the castle area.

E) Leader Zealot
Description: One of the cult's VIPs. He has a red tunic. He's Pointing at
someone.

Where is the quote used in the game: A lot of times in the castle area, when
they notice you're near them.

F) Don Pedro
-Rare Bottlecap
Description: The body of a poor villager with the exposed parasite on his
head.
Quote: *Insert parasite sound here*
Where is the quote used in the game: Several areas throughout the game.

G) 35 000 Pesetas
How to get: Get every Row C bottlecap.

============================================
             4. Row D Prizes
============================================

Row D involves mainly Island enemies and some random stuff. Again, I'll write
the translation for each. Two female villagers make an appearance as a bottle
cap here, I wonder why?

A) Soldier w/ dynamite
Description: One of the many soldiers you encounter on the Island, has
a red beret with a dynamite on his right hand.
Quote: 'Cógelo!'
Translation: 'Grab him!' NOTE: Many people think that the verb 'Coger' is to
**** someone, that does not apply to Resident Evil 4. Why? Because in Spain
'Coger' is only interpreted as 'To grab' while here in Latin America it can
be interpreted as 'To ****'
Where is the quote used in the game: Several areas throughout the game.

B) Soldier w/ stun-rod
-AKA as Darth Vader wannabe.
Description: A soldier wearing orange clothing with a stun rod on his right
hand, wearing an anti-toxin mask.
Quote: I finally got the quote! Thanks to my friend R. A. Bojalil, what
this Darth Vader wannabe was saying was: 'Te cogí'
Translation: 'Te cogí' means 'I caught you' but if you see the explanation
I mentioned above, you will see that it could also be interpreted as
I ****ed you, but in this case it's 'I caught you'. ^^
Where is the quote used in the game: It's obviously the Island area of the
game, the soldier mentions it whenever he sees you for the first time
in a room/area.

C) Soldier w/ hammer
Description: A fat guy that looks like a medieval soldier, he's holding his
crotch (WTF? o.0;;) with a hammer on his right hand.
Quote: *Instert grunt here*
Where is the quote used in the game: Several areas throughout the game.

D) Isabel
Description: One of the female villagers that attack you. She is holding
a bucket. She's an old lady.
Quote: 'Donde está?'
Translation: Where is s/he?
Where is the quote used in the game: Several areas.

E) Maria
Description: Another of the female villagers that attack you. She is holding
a kitchen knife with her right hand. Middle-aged woman.
Quote: 'Está en la trampa!'
Translaion: 'S/he is in the trap!'
Where is the quote used in the game: Zack Jarvis tells me that this quote
is used throughout the game but I actually found specific places where
the quote is used. If you walk on one of those 'Hunting Traps' scattered
throughout the village area and Maria or any other Female villager is near,
she will cry 'Está en la trampa!', which is -now that I think of it- fairly
obvious.

F) J.J.
-Rare bottlecap
Description: An elite soldier with a rail gun.
Quote: *Instert rail gun sound here* 'Te voy a matar!'
Translation: I'm going to kill you!
Where is the quote used in the game: Island Area

G) 50 000 Pesetas
How to get: Get every Row D bottlecap.

============================================
        5. Shooting Ranges and SFX
============================================

A) Shooting Ranges

Whenever you reach a new Shooting Range, you'll notice the background
changes. Here are the backgrounds for each range.

Range #1 - Castle Lobby : Forest at the back and a cabin. There's daylight on
                         the background.

Range #2 - ???????????? : Forest at the back and a cabin. It's a little dark.

Range #3 - ???????????? : ?????

Range #4 - Second to last chapter : You can see a picture of the castle and
                                   it's very dark.
Also in Shooting Range #4, you'll hear
                                   Salazar's laughing sometimes.

B) Special Effects

Version .9 Update!
It seems that shooting a specific part of the background turns on certain
effects. If anyone knows WHERE do you need to shoot to turn on, let's say,
White Feathers effects, please e-mail me.

Here are some of the special effects:

1. White Feathers

How to activate: You must be in a Range with a Cabin/Village background, then
shoot the tree area on the left. Thanks to Kenneth Wilson for telling me this!
Description: This one is neat. White feathers will be all around the
Shooting Range, making it a little cute.

2. Flies

How to activate: You must be in a Range with a Cabin/Village background, then
shoot the bug nest near the house. Thanks to Kenneth Wilson for telling me
this!
Description: Flies will be all around the Shooting Range, buzzing and making
you lose concentration.

3. Fireworks

How to activate: Shoot the castle after shooting the Moon, earning 300 points.
Description: Pretty self-explanatory

4. Fog

How to activate: Shoot the Moon, then the castle in Range #4
Description: Fog makes it harder to see. Thanks TynanRyu for this information!

5. Meteor Shower

How to activate: Shoot the Moon, then the castle and a meteor shower could
show up.
Description: Meteor-Shower Thanks Chad Wolcott!

6. Strange / Creepy Shout

How to activate: You must be in a Range with a Cabin/Village background, then
shoot the only window in the cabin. Thanks to Kenneth Wilson for telling me
this and lots more =P.
Description: A strange thing shouts >.<

7. Salazar Laugh

How to activate: You must be in Range #4 to do this (Castle background range),
then shoot one of the castle windows. This will the last time I'll credit
Kenneth Wilson in my FAQ... for now =P.

8. Catapult Shot

Thanks to T. Johnson for this info.
How to activate: In the castle backdrop setting, shoot out the moon.
After the arena goes dark, shoot the sky above the middle part of the castle.
You'll get a shooting star, followed by a stary fog, then the catapult blast
will always hit the front left area of the stage. It will NOT destroy
every target on stage, just the first 4 targets (that form a square)
on the left closest to the "table" with the bell.
Description: A catapult blast.

9. Smoke
How to activate: In the one with the cabin, if you shoot the chimney
(or smokestack) smokes comes out. It pretty much has the same effect as "fog."
Description: Smoke hinders visibility.

If you know about more, e-mail me! If you know how to activate these effects,
e-mail me!

--------------------------------------------
| IV. F A Q                                  |
--------------------------------------------

1.What's the point of the Shooting Range?
For starters, you can get bottle-caps from various characters and enemies
encountered throughout the game.
If you complete a row of bottle-caps, you will be awarded with Pesetas,
completing the first row gets you 25 000 pesetas, completing the last row
gets you 50 000 pesetas, the second and third row gets you 30 000 respectively.

2. How am I supposed to get the bottle-caps?
You need to get more than 3000 in a Shooting Gallery challenge.
Refer to the Shooting Gallery section for strategies.

3. How do I get rare bottle-caps?
Shoot every single target except for the Ashley targets, Salazar targets
do not count towards the total

4. Are there any secrets in Shooting Range? It's too hard
Not exactly a secret, but the easiest way to win is to shoot 5 targets in a
row to make a Salazar target appear, if you shoot Salazar, you get 500 points.

5. Help! I'm missing one bottle-cap and if I get 3000 points I still do not
get anything, any idea why?
Yes, you're missing the Rare bottle-cap, shoot every single target
except for the Ashley ones.

6. Help! I keep getting 3000 points and I still don't get anything! I have
the Rare bottlecap, any idea why?
You have that Row complete already, change to another challenge.

7. How do I unlock new challenges?
Progress through the main game.

8. Do I get to carry over my Bottle-caps to the next game?
Yes, you do.

9. Can you upgrade the weapons the merchant gives you?
Nope.

10. Does it matter if I get bottlecaps with Sniping only?
No, it's the same. I suggest just using sniping.

11. Can I get the Row D 50 000 Pesetas Prize even if I haven't completed
Row A/B/C?
Yep, you can.

12. I got all the bottle caps in the first row and my high score was 4,000.
Now whatever score I get under that they laugh at me and I can't get any more
caps. What am I doing wrong?
Progress through the game until you get to a new Shooting Range.
