Welcome to my guide for Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness! This
game is the sequel to Pokemon Colosseum, which was an awesome
Pokemon Stadium 2 follow-up. This game is far better than
Colosseum, however, in terms of sharper graphics and new features.

III. Walkthrough

After watching the opening cut-scene, you will be in a battle.
Use the Pokemon's Earthquake attack twice to take your opponent
out.
After the battle, you will soon be in control. Go down through
the door, then go up and head through the door on your left. When
you're done, go to the elevator and it will take you downstairs.
Go down and exit the lab. Go down, left, and enter through the
doors. Once you're inside the building, head left (past the first
door) to the second door. Go through it and pick up the P*DA. Pick
up the chest in the corner, then exit this building.
Go back to the lab and take the elevator up. Go left and head
through the door in the corner. Go down through the doors and
go left through the next doors. You'll see a kid under a desk.
Speak to him, then go down the elevator. Exit the lab. Now go all
the way down to exit this area.

Go forward and try to enter the house. You will be stopped by
someone who will want to battle you.

After the battle, go inside the house. Go left, through the doors
and speak to the little girl. Now exit the house and leave this area.

Go up and speak to the woman. Enter the lab and go to the elevator.

Go back to the elevator and it will take you back downstairs. Go down,
left, and head through the doors. Speak to the professor. After some
talk, put the machine on.
After some talk, you'll be back in control again. Go down and exit
the lab. Go left and you'll begin your next battle.

Use a Pokeball to catch it. This is the only shadow
pokemon you can catch easily.

After the long cut scene, you'll be in control. Exit this room and
go up the elevator. Go left and through the doors at the corner.
When you're done here, go right to exit this room. Keep going right
and go down the elevator. Go down and exit the lab. Follow the path
down to exit this area.

After the very long cut scenes, you'll be in control. Go left and
another cutscene will begin. After the cutscene, keep going left and
enter the big building. Speak to the guy in a blue suit and he will
offer you a pick of five evolution stones! Choose wisely because you
can only have one. When you're done, exit the building. Go up and
you'll see a guy in a blue shirt. Try to approach him and a small
cutscene will occur. When it's done, go back to that shop where you
got an elemental stone.
Speak to the guy at the counter and he will give you a machine
part. There's nothing left to do here, so exit the building and
leave Gateon Port.

Enter the lab and go up the elevator. Go left, through the doors, and
go left through the next doors. Speak to the woman in pink. After some
talk, exit the room by going right. Go right, down the elevator, and
exit the lab. Outside, follow the path down to exit this area.

Pick up the chest in front of you, then go up the slope. Go up the
next slope, then go up the slope on your right. Enter the big tree
house. Talk to the old lady.
When you're done, exit the house. Go down the slope, then down the
second slope. Go right, cross the bridge, and go down the slope that
is right near the Pokemon center. The man who is blocking the cave
will allow you entry, so head inside.
Inside, you will be facing a few trainers as you proceed to the
other end of the cave.

You will not be able to see the relic stone until your first Shadow
Pokemon (Teddiursa) has been purified. So keep battling the trainers
inside the cave until it's purified.
When it's ready for purification, go back to where Eagun is and
walk up to the relic stone. Select Teddiursa and have it purified.
After the cutscene, exit Eagun's house. Now go down and exit Agate
Village.

You'll be back in control after the cut scene. Pick up the shimmering
item on the ground, then take the elevator down.

After the cutscene, you will be in control. Go over to the next doors
and you'll be in the purify chamber room. Talk to the professor. Go through
the game tutorials if you wish to know how the purify chamber works. Stand
on the centre of the circle platform and press A to activate the chamber.
After you're done with the chamber, go down. You will be given a task
to do. Go and enter the elevator, as it will take you upstairs. Go through
the doors on your first left and through the doors at the left corner.
Talk to your sister, then go right to exit this room. Go back down the
elevator and exit the lab.
Once outside, go left, down, down the stairs, and keep moving right
until you see a scientist. Talk to him. After the conversation is
over, exit this area.

Select "Pyrite Town".

A cutscene will begin upon your arrival. After it's over, you'll
have control. Move up and another cut scene will begin. After it's
done, continue moving upwards until you come across a huge yellow
circle with trainers around it. You can battle the trainers here
if you want to build up on some levels. Otherwise, go right (past
the bridge) and enter the huge building.
A cutscene will start. After it's over, go up, right, and up
the elevator.
On the second floor, go down and enter through the door. Speak
to the person on the desk. Once you're done, head out of this small
room and go left, then down, then left (past the first door) to the
second door. Head through and a cutscene will begin. Once it's over,
go back and go left until you find the next elevator.
On the third floor, go right (past the healing machine), and up
the stairs. Head around and enter the small building on the left.
You will be given entry by the guard, so enter it. Speak to the man
on the desk.
Once you're done, exit this building. Now backtrack to the first
floor of the ONBS building and exit it.
A short cut-scene will ensue. After it's over, head all the way
down and exit Pyrite Town.

can heal your Pokemon here if you need to. Now exit this house.
Now go to the house that is on the opposite location of the
house you just exited. Enter it.
Talk to the lady first and give her the item you found at that
other house. Now go up the stairs. In the bedroom, go down left
and you'll find something shimmering on the floor. After the

the item that is shimmering on the ground, then exit this huge
room. Exit the building.
Go down, down the stairs, head around the circle, and enter
that small building in the center.
Go right, up the small stairs, and walk up to the control
panel and the blue chair. Press A to fit the key in. Now go
to the small arena on the center of this room and take the
elevator. Go down the stairs and a cutscene will begin.
After the cutscene is over, go down to exit. After the
cutscene is over, exit this place. Go up the stairs and
go to the house that is on the left side. You will find
two shimmering items on the ground, so pick them up. Talk
to the mayor on the desk and he will give you a very useful
item. Now exit this place.
The Pokemon center and PokeMart are now at your disposal,
so do what you have to do. With nothing else to do in Phenac,
exit the city.

Go left, through the door, and talk to Kaminko. Go through the
door on the right. Take the elevator down. Go left to find a
treasure chest. Pick up its contents, then speak to the old man.
After the conversation, you'll be back in Gateon Port. You now
have the privilege of heading to that "???" area on the map! Exit
the shop and exit Gateon Port.

Go forward and enter the hole on the ship. Go left and push the
box one step forward inorder for you to cross over. Go up the steps

On the second floor, just move forward and go up the stairs at
the end.

After the talk is over, you'll be back in control. Head down the
stairs on your right.
Pick up the shimmering item that is right beside the stairs. Go
up, left, and down the stairs.
Go down the steps and head around to find the next stairs on the
bottom. You can pick up the chests if you want, but you'll have to
push the box in certain patterns first.
Go up and push the box one step forward. If you want the chest,
just push the box on the compatible slot. Carefully make your way
around to the otherside. Once you're on the otherside, head on up.
Jump off the ledge and push the left box one step forward. Push
the box on the right two steps forward. You can now proceed up the
stairs. Pick up the item in the treasure chest before going up. If
you want the other chest, you'll have to do more box pushing. It's
your choice.
You'll find that special Pokemon sleeping. Go up first, then SLOWLY
approach that sleeping Pokemon. And I mean do it slowly, otherwise the
little critter will wake up and run off elsewhere. Unfortunately, the
critter gets startled and runs off because you receive a garbage email
POSSIBLY at the worst time ever! If you want to find that Pokemon
again, you'll have to set up a bait at the PokeSpots. But you can do
that anytime you wish, so don't bother with it right now.
Pick up the shimmering item on the ground and then leave this place.
Now just backtrack where that guy asked you a favor. After the
conversation with him, you'll be back in control. Go down and leave
this place. Keep going down, then down the stairs. Head to the next
stairs and take them down. Now just make your way to the otherside
and exit the ship.
Watch the cutscene. You will be back in the ship. Your snag machine
has been stolen! When you get control, exit this place. Now exit the
ship and head out.

Now take the elevator up.
Push the block that's in front of you down the lava. Go down
the slope on the right, down, and left up the slope. Push the
second block down into the lava. Go back down the slope and go
right, down and follow the path to find another block. Push it
down the lava. Now go back and pick up the item from the treasure
chest from the non-lava area. Now go down the area (where there
was once lava) and follow the path around until you see the final
block. Push it down into the lava.
Now you can cross that gap and head through the doorway. Try to
go to it, but you will be in for a battle.

Continue down the path and you'll be outside.
Pick up the item in the treasure chest, then go through the
other doorway.
Go up and wait for the platform to come down. Step on the
platform, then the next platform, and step on the land. Enter
the elevator.
You're now in a crane puzzle-solving room. If you want all
the treasure chests here, then you'll have to spend a few
minutes doing certain things (like falling off a platform
from the upper level). But you can get the chests later if
you prefer. Go up to the green circle and press A. The hook
will carry you over to a different side. Go left and up, then
press A on the circle. Again, the hook will carry you over.
Pick up the item in the treasure chest, then press A on the
circle right next to you. You can now advance, so go down,
left, and take the elevator up.

Go up and you'll see a few holo floors coloured blue. If you
step on one of them, you will be dropped down to a certain area
on the floor with the crane puzzles. If you want that chest that
you noticed, but couldn't get it, then step on one of the floors
to be sent down to that chest. Otherwise, pick up the chest then
move forward. Go right, down and pick up the item in the chest.

Now go back to Gateon Port. Heal up and buy plenty of Ultra Balls.
You'll need a LOT of em' since we are very close to the finalie. Once
you're done, go back to Citadark Isle and take that left elevator back
up to where you faced Snattle (this saves a LOT of time, as you don't
have to go all the way up by entering the starting point).
Go up and cross the bridge. Prepare for another tough battle.

The wall will finally be disabled. Pick up the item in the
treasure chest, then go and use the healing machine. Now is
time for the finalie! Do some preparations before facing your
most difficult battle ever. You can go back and train some more
by battling against those goons at Cipher Lab. Or you could
train at Pyrite Town at the battle circle.
Once you feel that you're ready, go to the final elevator.
DO NOT ENTER THE ELEVATOR YET!!! SAVE your game first. I repeat:
SAVE! You're about to go up against a REALLY powerful Shadow
Pokemon, which will be a nearly-impossible snag. Now enter the
elevator.
Watch the cutscene and be graced by Shadow Lugia's appearance!
Yes I know, I just gave it away. But COME ON! It's highly obvious
that Shadow Lugia is the main shadow Pokemon since it's on the
Pokemon XD box art! >_>

I sure hope you have that Master Ball in your
hands, because this is where the ball has the
privilege to be utilized on this Pokemon. If you
choose not to use the ball, and prefer catching
Lugia using Ultra Balls, good luck. Seriously,
Lugia is a nearly IMPOSSIBLE catch when using
Ultraballs. Even after reducing its HP to red and
giving it a status ailment, Lugia will still manage
to piss you off by breaking free of almost every
ultra ball you throw at it. Good luck trying to catch
it the hard way. Otherwise, use that Master Ball.

This is a REALLY tough battle. You have to be lenient
and try not to faint these Pokemon because they are ALL
shadows! Catching all six in one go will be extremely
difficult. I hope you have plenty of Ultra Balls left
(granted if you used the Master Ball on Lugia). It's
okay if you accidentally faint one or more of Greevil's
Pokemon, because you will get a second chance of catching
them again the next time you fight him. Good luck!

IIII. Frequently Asked Questions
================================
Q: um how do i get a ho-ho
A: Buy Pokemon Colosseum, snag all 48 shadows, purify them, and
beat Mt. Battle in Battle Mode (either solo or double).
Q: can you get celebi on xd?
A: Nope, sorry.
Q: is there a shadow eevee?
A: Absolutely not. You start out with Eevee anyway, so why bother
for a shadow?
Q: How do you purify Shadow Lugia?
A: I've been getting a lot of emails about this one lately. Below
is an in-depth answer so that I don't get anymore emails about
this:
To purify Shadow Lugia, you have to max out each of the 9 "Tempo"
in the purify chamber at the Pokemon HQ Lab. This is not a tedious
process, but you do need to have atleast 4 Pokemon purified in order
to max out atleast one of the nine tempos. Sounds easy right? Well
actually there's a bit more to it than that. You have to have 4 Pokemon
with different types that are strong against the other.
Here's an example:
Let's say I have a Shadow Snorunt in the purify chamber. I want to
purify it. But first, I need 4 Pokemon that have already been purified.
I have a Baltoy, Numel, Gulpin, and Nuzleaf. This is how it works:
Baltoy is a ground type, so it's strong against Numel the fire type.
Numel is also a part ground-type so it's strong against Gulpin the
poison type. Gulpin being the poison type is strong against Nuzleaf
the grass type. And Nuzleaf the grass type is strong against Baltoy
the ground type. See how the cycle works? This is a definite pattern
that all 4 of these Pokemon can defeat one another due to the type
advantages.
Once you have one tempo maxed out, you have to repeat the process of
getting 4 more purified Pokemon into the chamber and max out the tempos.
When all 9 tempos in the purify chamber have been maxed out, then all
you have to do is place Shadow Lugia in one of the 9 tempos. After that
try to close the purify chamber and then be amazed! The purify chamber
will say Lugia is ready to be purified! Purify it and thus you have a
normal Lugia!
Q: if u cant snag all of master greevils shadow pokemon the first or second
time, can u verse him again and try to snag the remaining pokemon or do
they go to miror b. ?
A: It is okay if you have missed some of his Pokemon. A battle of that
magnitude is difficult to comprehend anyway and a lot of people end
up accidently fainting Greevil's Pokes. BUT the good news is that
you get a second chance (or a lot of chances) to catch the Pokemon
you missed. The Pokemon you catch from him will be replaced with
some others, but the ones you've missed will still be there (until
you catch them that is).
The same thing goes for Shadow Lugia. If you accidently knock it out,
no problem. You'll get another chance against it when you re-visit
Citadark Isle.
Q: I don't have all 83 Shadows!! I'm missing two! Where do I find them?!
A: The last 2 Shadows are tricky to find. But both of them are found at
Gateon Port. The first one (Poochyena) is found on top of the lighthouse
(get to it using the moving bridges). The second one (Ledyba) is found
east from the lighthouse (again use the moving bridges). You should see
a trainer standing on a small piece of land.
