-Revision History-
7/25/2003 - No big changes, just modified my e-mail address and added a new
site who will be hosting my FAQ. I still check my old e-mail,
but have been having problems with it.
Also, a plea for my sanity: Please read through the FAQ before
e-mailing me. I have gotten more than a few e-mails telling me
that my combinations would be better if I use 'this' slot item
or 'that' slot item. If you read the FAQ you will see that I
did this _without_ slot items on purpose. A lot of the good
slot items are hard to find in this game. For this reason, I
decided to skip them entirely in order to make a more
generalized solution. By all means I think you should use them
if and when you find them, but I am not going to tell you what
specific ones you should use. It would limit the functionality
of this FAQ if I were to do that and make it that much harder
on people trying to use it. I hope with the time spent on this
game, most of you will have an idea of how you want to equip
your character anyways. Thank you.
1/28/2003 - After looking through again, realized I had a small mistake in
the RAmarl's Mag/Material and fixed it
1/20/2003 - Added info on Mag/Material for the last three characters
This will probably be my last update unless otherwise inspired
1/18/2003 - Added info on Mag/Material for all Rangers and changed a few
minor mistakes
1/15/2003 - Added info on Mag/Material for all Hunters and for FOmarl
12/30/2002 - Created this FAQ
-Introduction-
The purpose of this FAQ is to help all those people out there who are trying
to create the closest thing to a perfect character that they can (like my
friend Mike). All of the info included in this FAQ, thus far, can also be
found at PSO World (www.pso-world.com). Why make a FAQ when the info is
already out there? That's easy: because a lot of people (myself included)
come to HERE first in order to find all their answers. I decided that I
would make it easier for all those people and post the important info here,
thus making this data accessible in more places. To avoid further questions
of the same, I have no idea how PSO World came upon this information. I
personally believe that they gained this information through the Japanese
players of this game, who already have characters up to level 200. Either
that, or maybe they got it directly from Sega. So, on with the...
-Character Stats-
For each character I shall give the starting stats, the base stats for when
they reach level 200, and the max stats that they can have. I shall also put
some of the bonuses for each character as well. I will not put the character
description as that can be found in several places, including the instruction
manual for the game.
Side note: For those of you who do not already know, every Android can regen
HP if they stand still and every Newman can regen TP if they
stand still. The rate of the regen increases as you gain more
levels.

-Mag/Material Management-
This section will be devoted to the best (or closest to it) way to raise a
mag for each character plus the number of each materials they should eat
in order to get as close as possible to maxing out each stat. Note that
this is _without_ any slot items on, thus meaning with slot items you
could lessen that number even more. This is also dependent on if the
posts on the message board are correct in saying that Humans can use 250
non-HP materials and both Newmans and Androids can use 150 non-HP
materials. Otherwise, this whole thing is a bust... o_0
If anyone is interested on finding a different or even better combination,
I'll share how I worked this out. First, I used the charts above to find
the difference between the max stat and the Lvl 200 base for each
character. Next, I figured out the stats for the mag that would lessen
these numbers by as much as possible, without leaving one number extremely
large. Obviously this was different for each class. Forces I tended to
focus more on Mind than Power, but I almost always tried to max out ATA on
all characters using the mag since there are no materials to aid this
stat. Each stat on a mag has different equations to them:
1 point in DEF = 1 point in DFP
1 point in POW = 2 points in ATP
2 points in DEX = 1 point in ATA
1 point in MIND = 2 points in MST
After I finished with the mag, I recalculated the stats for the character
using these new bonuses from the mag. Finally, I distributed the alloted
materials as evenly as possible to get the end result. I know it probably
looks kind of complicated or even long, but it is how my mind worked this
problem out. ^_^ If you know of an easier way, let me know and I will
add it to this FAQ.
Final Note: I know that most of these works are not what you will want to
use all of the time. I am just trying to make it easier for people to max
out all stats. Personally, I would never max out ATA on a Force unless I
had excess materials (as is the case with the FOmarl). I play a Force to
use techs, not to shoot or attack people melee. So please do not e-mail
me saying that it would be better to max out this stat over that stat. I
am doing this for the well-rounded players. You shall be ignored. Just
warning you.
HUmar
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 8 Power = 110 ATP = 1363 34
POW = 100 Def = 50 DFP = 530 49
DEX = 52 Mind = 20 MST = 714 18
MIND = 40 Evade = 25 ATA = 200 0
Luck = 45 EVP = 732 24
LCK = 100 0
What is a HUmar all about? Making sure he hits things, hurts them, and
has enough brains to heal himself. I maxed out Luck, because it's always
nice to get those critical hits once in a while. I also maxed out ATA,
because I for one enjoy actually hitting the people who are trying to hit
me. Other than that, I came pretty darn close to maxing out everything
else. Those numbers are low enough to be maxed with the right combination
of slot items.
HUnewearl
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 7 Power = 46 ATP = 1127 110
POW = 100 Def = 0 DFP = 545 44
DEX = 44 Mind = 40 MST = 1063 114
MIND = 49 Evade = 29 ATA = 169 30
Luck = 35 EVP = 724 87
LCK = 80 20
HUnewearl was quite possibly the hardest class to max. They have huge
differences between base max and max, not to mention that since they are
Newmans, they can only use 150 materials. I did the best I could to make
them well-rounded, but good lord those numbers still look horendous.
HUcast
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 10 Power = 80 ATP = 1554 85
POW = 124 Def = 15 DFP = 541 60
DEX = 66 Mind = 0 MST = 0 0
MIND = 0 Evade = 15 ATA = 191 0
Luck = 40 EVP = 615 45
LCK = 90 10
Once again I maxed out ATA for hitting purposes and got Luck as close as
possible. I do this because as a Hunter you will need these stats more
than any other really. I got the others down rather low as well.
HUcaseal
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 10 Power = 50 ATP = 1225 76
POW = 112 Def = 30 DFP = 469 56
DEX = 68 Mind = 0 MST = 0 0
MIND = 0 Evade = 30 ATA = 218 0
Luck = 40 EVP = 837 40
LCK = 90 10
Yadda, yadda, yadda. Blah blah blah... Almost the exact same thing as
the HUcast.
RAmar
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 12 Power = 100 ATP = 1206 54
POW = 100 Def = 53 DFP = 477 38
DEX = 38 Mind = 20 MST = 645 20
MIND = 50 Evade = 32 ATA = 249 0
Luck = 45 EVP = 703 12
LCK = 100 0
Obviously you want ATA with a Ranger and since the RAmar has the highest
ATA of all the classes, it is nice to max it out. Other than that, the
rest is pretty well distributed and definitely manageable to max with the
right slot items.
RAmarl
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 10 Power = 67 ATP = 1057 88
POW = 90 Def = 41 DFP = 518 59
DEX = 50 Mind = 61 MST = 954 77
MIND = 50 Evade = 36 ATA = 241 0
Luck = 45 EVP = 870 30
LCK = 100 0
Kind of like the Hunters, the RAmarl is much like the RAmar in finished
stats, but the differences are a little larger.
RAcast
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 25 Power = 80 ATP = 1269 81
POW = 125 Def = 15 DFP = 585 21
DEX = 50 Mind = 0 MST = 0 0
MIND = 0 Evade = 20 ATA = 224 0
Luck = 35 EVP = 666 33
LCK = 80 20
Ok, honestly I did not mean to end his EVP at 666. I swear it. I did
not realize I had done this until just now. ^_^ Anyways, a lot like
the human Rangers just without the hassle of that annoying MST.
RAcaseal
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 54 Power = 60 ATP = 1095 80
POW = 100 Def = 22 DFP = 660 28
DEX = 46 Mind = 0 MST = 0 0
MIND = 0 Evade = 23 ATA = 231 0
Luck = 45 EVP = 759 28
LCK = 100 0
Probably the easiest of all four Rangers to max out. Again, no worries
with MST, making things a little easier. Also, as a side-note, maybe
it is just me, but why do the Humans have higher ATA than the Androids?
FOmar
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 15 Power = 60 ATP = 943 59
POW = 35 Def = 55 DFP = 446 24
DEX = 50 Mind = 60 MST = 1310 30
MIND = 100 Evade = 50 ATA = 163 0
Luck = 25 EVP = 651 0
LCK = 60 40
You have no idea how scary it is to see a Force trying to max out all
stats. ^_^ Anyways, I think I did rather well at lowering everything.
Not nearly as well as the FOmarl, but much better than the Newman
Forces could get.
FOmarl
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 8 Power = 36 ATP = 872 0
POW = 40 Def = 70 DFP = 498 0
DEX = 52 Mind = 75 MST = 1284 0
MIND = 100 Evade = 38 ATA = 170 0
Luck = 31 EVP = 588 0
LCK = 72 28
As you can see I was able to max out every stat except for Luck. I did
this on purpose, since as a Force you will more than likely not be using
physical attacks. If you truly do want to max out Luck, you can always
get some slot items to max it out. Otherwise, I suggest using those
slots to equip a Cure/Frozen, Cure/Shock, God/Technique, and TP/Revival
(if you can get your hands on them).
FOnewm
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 10 Power = 25 ATP = 723 91
POW = 30 Def = 10 DFP = 438 25
DEX = 60 Mind = 60 MST = 1418 82
MIND = 100 Evade = 30 ATA = 158 22
Luck = 25 EVP = 591 88
LCK = 60 40
::whimpers:: Now I know why people do not try to max all stats on Forces.
I can honestly say that I would never do this, but there are people out
there who will want to, so this is for them.
FOnewearl
Mag levels Materials given End result Off max
DEF = 10 Power = 5 ATP = 523 60
POW = 15 Def = 5 DFP = 354 36
DEX = 40 Mind = 100 MST = 1670 80
MIND = 135 Evade = 25 ATA = 153 33
Luck = 15 EVP = 785 98
LCK = 40 60
A lot like the FOnewm. Newman Forces just are not meant to max all stats.
I think it is against the natural order of things possibly. The numbers
are still manageable, but in no means pretty.
-Things to come...-
I do not think there will be anything new. The only other thing I may add
would be my own personal Mag/Material combinations that I would use for
each character, but I do not think enough people would look at this for me
to put such effort forth.

Thanks go out to:
Sega and Nintendo for making a game that caused me to finally buy a Gamecube.
My friend Michael Ferrence, because without his hoarding of materials and
obsession with mag raising to get a maxed character, I would not have given
this a second thought. (He has currently ditched three characters because of
misused materials...)
