Short Introduction [I00]

Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen! 2 Is a game adaptated from the ANIME Naruto... Of
course, before the anime, is the manga but it's not an adaptation from the
manga. Not that it really makes that much of a difference but just wanted to
say it...

About the FAQ itself, it's my first one, and I did this rather quickly... I
didn't have time to play all the characters enough to give you good infos about
their capacities... That's why I only gave a few notes about each one of
them... I hope I will be able to complete the characters section in a good
way... But for the time being, it's rather short and doesn't have a looooot
of things in it... Sorry...

Menu Navigation [M00]

I though it could help some people to have a little help on how to navigate
through the menu... I've done my best but my japanese is really bad (yeah hell
it has, I can't even read everything in katakanas... don't laugh >_<). This
is NOT a translation, just something to help people who don't get a thing of
what's written... Don't flame me if it's not correctly named, just say

A = weapon attack (except for Lee & Gai)

Uzumaki Naruto [NAR00]
Description: The main character, blond dressed in a cool looking orange
Personal Technique: Uzumaki Naruto Rendan
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Naruto uses a lot his punch, and likes to uses his clones to get more hits
in. He is much more a close range fighter.

Pros:
- Good strength (BBBBB combo is really damaging, BAABBBB is better, but the
opponent will more often Kawarimi before the end so...)
- Rather good speed

Cons:
- Sexy no jutsu (sucks chakra and it is SO EASY to see through it...)
- Often jump during combos (getting yourself in danger)

Uchiwa Sasuke [SAS00]
Personal Technique: Shishi Rendan
Description: Naruto's rival, dressed in blue
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Sasuke does good combos, combining his punches and kick with his Katon jutsu
(fire breathing technique). Somewhat a good fighter but I don't really like
him personally...

Useful combos:

Haruno Sakura [SAK00]
Description: The girl with pink hair and in a red dress
Personal Technique: Uchinaru Sakura
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

In order to select long haired Sakura in red costume, press X
In order to select long haired Sakura in purple costume, press Z

Fighting Style:
She uses a lot of shurikens and things like that, can teleport during some of
her combos, and her super is rather simple to use, even during combos.

Pros:
- Good speed
- Good long-ranged skills (AAA combo works well, also when jumping)

Cons:
- Not that powerful

Rock Lee [LEE00]
Description: The super fighter in a green tunique with an haircut rather...
old-fashionned
Personal Technique: Omote Renge
Gate Opening
Ura Renge
Weapon: None

Fighting Style:
Pure fighting character, Lee also has The Gate Opening technique. By pressing
Down+X once, he inscreases a bit his fighting skills. If he does it a second
time, he gets REALLY stronger, HOWEVER he looses stamina as time pass by. He
also GAINS Chakra at the sime time and his Special technique become GODLY
powerful. He teleports near the ennemy and kick, if he hits (most likely if
you use it a the good time) well... it's bad for him...

Pros:
- Good speed
- Good combos
- DOWN+X boost him
- DOWN+X x2 allow you to use as much as you want his second special

Cons:
- DOWN+X x2 sucks up his life... One hit, you're dead...
- No throwing weapons

Yamanaka Ino [INO00]
Description: The blonde girl with a pony-tail
Personal Technique: Shintenshin no jutsu
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Ino is fast. Really fast. She also has some annoying combos... and teleports.
For example, you can do a BBBA, then you will teleport in you opponent's back,
where you can easily do a foward+BBB, finishin by a down+BBB (even if all hits
won't connect in this last part...)
More over, her special is really easy to use, as it has a really good range.

Pros:
- Fast
- Easy combos
- Some teleports
- Special easily getting through

Cons:
- Lack of power
- Lack of defense

Useful combos:

Up+AA,Down+BBB

BBBAX (If near a wall only)

Hakate Kakashi [KAK00]
Description: Naruto's sensei. Gray hair, green jacket...
Personal Technique: Raikiri
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Combos, throwing weapons, speed, good techniques (Doton no jutsu, when he
gets the leg of the ennemy, is rather powerful). A good character. You can
also charge his special technique by keepin the X button on. the range gets
REALLY long, and the damage really impressive... Just pray in order not to be
countered... ^^

Nara Shikamaru [SHI00]
Description: Pony tail aiming for the sky, gray jacket
Personal Technique: Kage Mane no Jutsu
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Really likes to teleport, during his combos... It makes him hard to get and
to counter... He can also get his special easily in, as he can easily reach
the opponent's back... If you manage to reach the back of the opponent, of
course...
By the way, Shikamaru DOES take damage when he is "protecting", even if it
looks like he doesn't get hit at all

Pros:
- Good speed
- BACK+A is really powerfull when used well
- Some powerfull combos

Cons:
- Do not have a counter (expect Kawarimi which uses chakra)
- His special has a really short range

Inizuka Kiba [KIB00]
Description: The one with a dog
Personal Technique: Jyujin-Bunshin - Gatsuuga
Weapon: Akamaru

Fighting Style:
Can uses Akamaru to stop the opponent movement. Useful, and he also has good
'jumped' attack when he attack like a ball (just like Blanka in street fighter).
Good power and speed, but his special is not that esay to get in.
Moreover, his down+BA is really usefull if Akamaru is in the opponent back...
Another good thing is his jump+BB. Yes, he can do a combo after jumping... You
have to connect the first hit to do the second... which will either damage the
opponent or allow you to flee from him...

Pros:
- Akamaru can be really usefull
- Good power

Cons:
- Sometimes, Akamaru is really useless

Hyûga Hinata [HIN00]
Description: The shy girl with pale eyes...
Personal Technique: Jyuken pô - Hakke Sôshôha
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken

Fighting Style:
Oh well... I was disapointed... Of course Hinata is a great character, but I
don't get what's really that good with her... Her special is not that hard to
use but... oh well, I've gotta play a bit more with her...

Sabaku no Gaara [GAA00]
Description: The one with a gourd... Looks like a madman ^^
Personal Technique: Sabaku Kyu - Sabaku Sôsô
Weapon: Sand

Fighting Style:
He DOES like his sand. Lots of techniques using it are hitting in an area,
either with a lots of hits, or pushing away the others characters VERY far...
And a special with a long range. Not bad.

Pros:
- Good moves (Down+A, Foward+A, Up+A)
- Good combos (BBBBAAA, down+BAAA foward+A)

Cons:
- Slow

Useful combos:

Haku [HAK00]
Description: A feminine looking fighter
Personal Technique: Hijutsu - Makyôhyôshô
Weapon: Needle
How to unlock: Buy for 3000

In order to select No-mask Haku in blue costume, press X
In order to select No-mask Haku Sakura in white costume, press Z

Fighting Style:
So Haku is fast. Moreover, his combos seems rather long... and you can do
mass hit by using his "string flotation technique". To do it, just jump
and press A. Keep it on. Then, start a combo with B, release A and the kunais
will fly at the oponent, adding 10 hits. Be carevul, it consumes chakra.

Pros:
- Long combos
- Good speed
- Can use chakra to levitate his needles (jump+A and keep pressed)

Cons:
- Some move in the combo can let your opponent guard, or counter attack
- not that powerfull

Hyûga Neji [NEJ00]
Description: Pale eyes, headband on the forehead...
Personal Technique: Jyuken-pô - Hakke Rokujyuyonshô
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken
How to unlock: Buy for 2000

Fighting Style:
Wow. Some of his hits deals damage to the opponent's chakra. His special is
the same, but hard to get in a combo. Good short range fighter with a few
long-ranged hit, but nothing impressive. Very good due to his unique skill.

Pros:
- Can damage chakra easily (FOWARD+A)
- Kaiten (BACK+A) can break some combos
- Kaiten can counter a kawarimi no jutsu
- Special easy to use (usually after a jump of the opponent)

Cons:
- Lack of heavy damaging combo
- Chakra depleting combos don't do that much damage
- Kaiten sucks up a lot of chakra if misused

Momochi Zabuza [ZAB00]
Description: The one with a BIIIIIIIIIIG Sword
Personal Technique: Ninpô - Kiri Gakure no Jutsu
Weapon: VERY large Sword
How to unlock: Buy for 4000

Fighting Style:
Big Sword. He's then has a really great range, but no long range attack... No
a problem when you see how much damage he can deal with his sword, and his
special is rather long ranged too... Did I mention his big sword by the way? ^^

Pros:
- His sword has a fantastic range
- He deals quite an amount of damage with each hit
- Special as a long range

Cons:
- Very slow
- Some move rather useless (Up+A)

Kankurô [KAN00]
Description: A man fighting with a puppet.
Personal Technique: Ninpô - Kugutsu Shibari no Jutsu
Weapon: Karasu, kunaïs, poison gas.
How to unlock: Buy for 2500

Fighting Style:
Kankurô is hard to play. you have to use well Karasu or you will not be able to
do great damagin combo. However you can use Karasu as a shield to protect your
character from special.
The drawback is each hit at Karasu deal damage to Kankuro's CHAKRA (not life), so
after a special, he will be depleted from chakra... :/ Too bad... (but that pretty
much makes Neji's special useless against him, doesn't it? ^^)
The poison gas DO NOT poison the opponent... it's more like a bomb in fact... with
a purple gas... oh well...

Pros:
- Deadly in 4 players games
- Karasu can protect him from special
- Karasu has some delay for various attack, and can therefore break one the
oppponent combo

Cons:
- Hitting Karasu drains Chakra, forbiding you most of the time of using Kawarimi
no jutsu
- Rather hard to play with at the beginning

Iruka [IRU00]
Personal Technique: Kuurai Geki
Description: Naruto's firt sensei. Green jacket and a scar on the nose
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken
How to unlock: Buy for 2000

Fighting Style:
Can often teleports, has a good giant shuriken which can multiple hit a lot
he you run after hit when you launched it. Good short-ranged combos and a
special rather damaging.

Akamaru [AKA00]
Description: A dog.
Personal Technique: None
Weapon: None
How to unlock: Buy for 2500

Fighting Style:
*Laugh* Well think of him like if he was Gon from Tekken 3 except he can't
fart (too bad!!)... But well, fun to play... once at least..
Doesn't have a limit.
Doesn't gain Omake options.

Pros:
- Funny to play with... once
- Hard to hit
- Can bite the opponent (well it's just funny but..^^)

Cons:
- Not funny to play against
- One hit take a LOT of life from him
- No special

Karasu [KAR00]
Description: An odd looking puppet
Personal Technique: None
Weapon: Kunais, poison gas.
How to unlock: Buy for 2500

Fighting Style:
I don't get it. Nothing interesting with that thing. Combos sucks, in my own
way of course, its look is just horrible... No super... Forget it..
Oh almost forgot, when you uses him, Kankuro appears in the background of
every stage.
Ho! By the way, his poison gas DO NOT poison as in the manga. Stupid!
Doesn't have a limit, he can't be stopped by regular attack.
Doesn't gain Omake options.

Pros:
- Hitting him doesn't stop him

Cons:
- No special
- Combos sucks
- Slow

Gai Sensei [GAI00]
Description: Rock Lee looking alike sensei.
Personal Technique: Seishoun no Atsuki Hôyô
Weapon: None
How to unlock: Buy for 3500

Fighting Style:
Looks a lot like Lee in his fighting style. But he can't open the Gate...
However, his special has a better range, and is much more funny to watch ^_^
Bakayaro!

Kyûbi no Naruto [KNA00]
Description: Naruto with red eyes and aura... Groooar
Personal Technique: Kyûbi Rendan
Weapon: None
How to unlock: Buy for 5500

Fighting Style:
Strong, quick... Oh well, so powerful it's not even funny... In 4 player mode,
his special doesn't stop the fight, which means the others can still hit you
during your special, or add more hit on your opponent... their choice :p

Sharingan no Kakashi [SKA00]
Description: Kakashi with his sharingan opened
Personal Technique: Chidori
Weapon: Kunai & Shuriken
How to unlock: Buy for 7500

Fighting Style:
Like Kakashi with a few differences...
How to use the Sharingan?
When your opponent start his special technique, do back+A, hopefully, it will
counter the skill... But if you have a full chakra bar, Kakashi will automaticaly
counter with the skill he was attacked with.
There are a few technique he can't copy:
Haku, Kankuro, Gaara, Neji, Hinata, Gai, Orochimaru (list to complete)
Also, he doesn't copy Lee's second special, he instead do the first one.

Pros:
- Sharingan is the most powerfull counter as it's quick to get in place.
- DOWN+A is just great ^^
- Good combos

Cons:
- No more "1000 years of pain" >_< Damn >_<

Mizuki [MIZ00]
Description: A sensei with white hair and a headband
Personal Technique: Kuurai Geki
Weapon: Kunai & shuriken
How to unlock: Buy for 15000

In order to select Mizuki in his alternate costume, press Z.

Fighting Style:
Remember Iruka? Just the same. To uses him, you have to select Iruka with X.
You HAVE to finish the game with Mizuki in order to unlock his Omake options
in Anko shop. They cost the regular 1000 + 1500 $.

Orochimaru [ORO00]
Description: Long black hair and old fashionned japenese clothing style
Personal Technique: Gokkyo Fuin
Weapon: Kunais & Shurikens
How to unlock: Buy for 50000

Fighting Style:
Super finishing skill, which deplet the opponent chakra, and makes him unable to
regain it. He does HEAVY combo using snakes (up to 27 hits on anyone VERY easily).
His special sure seems cool with its special effect, but if you use it, it's pretty
sure you will either kill your opponent, or he will just have very little life left.

Pros:
- Easy combos
- Special is awesome
- Good range
- Good teleport (back+a)

Cons:
- Err... he is a bad guy?

Sharingan no Sasuke [SSA00]
Description: Sasuke with his sharingans opened
Personal Technique: Chidori
Katon Hôsenka no Jutsu
Weapon: Kunais & Shurikens
How to unlock: Finish the 30 fight in story mode (the last one is Sasuke vs Kakashi)
then buy for 100000 in Anko's shop.

Fighting style:
Just like the old Sasuke, but a bit faster... I think... and less strong... BUT now his
special is the chidori, but he also get a special he can do when jumping: jump and
press X. It's really fast, but not that damaging... it can nevertheless be rather
usefull...

Pros:
- Katon Hôsenka no Jutsu can be useful
- same than Sasuke
- Up+a hit when on the ground

Cons:
- Chidori can't be comboed as easily as the Lion Rendan
- Sharingan can't be used

A sucession of 10 fights. During the 8 first fight you will have as opponent,
choosen randomly: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Neji, Hinata, Shikamaru, Lee and Kiba.
After those 8 are defeated, you will fight Kankurô. And lastly, you will fight
Gaara. You can't fight any other character.

Money Earned: 2000 (200 per fight won)

VS Computer battle [1PVS]

You choose your character and the CPU character.

Money Earned: 200 per fight

Team Battle (NEED TO BE UNLOCKED) [1PTM]

To Unlock it, finish the Time Attack Mode.
You choose 3 characters and 3 others characters for the CPU. When a character
win, he keeps his Chakra and his life in the next fight, against the second
character chosen.

Choose a character and kill as much as you can, by regaining a little life
between each fight. There is only one round.

Some items are dropped by the shadow during the fight:
Coin : few money
Banknote : more money
Takoyakis: restaure life
Ramen : restaure more life
Scroll : getting hurt don't stop your combos, you also get a bit faster.

The shadows have a VERY small range of action:
- throwing kunais
- jumping and throwing kunais
- small punch combo (5 hits max)
- Teleport and throw kunais
- Teleport and do a down hit
By the way, the shadow are EXACTLY as fast as Sasuke.
That's it.

In order to get a lot of kill, you have to choose a good character...
Suggested character:

Zabuza: His broad sword allows you to hit multiple ennemis, and to kill them
quite easily. However, Zabuza has is slow at recovering after a combo, and
you will get hits at that time.

Gaara: His sands attack hit mmultiple ennemis, and his down+A push ennemies
away, getting you some time to recover or to take over some money.

Shikamaru: He teleports a lot thanks to hist BACK+A. Use it! You can then
be sure to hit a shadow, and if you do a normal combo and chain with this
technique, you may have a chance to teleport in a safe place. You also will
quite easily take money, ramen and takoyakis due to thoses teleports.

Akamaru: Call him Kami Inu here... In fact, he doesn't often get it by the
shadows. When you see a shadow ready to teleport, IMMEDIATLY do down+A.
Akamaru will rotate hitting around him, and have a very high chance to cancel
the shadow's attack.
Note that Akamaru need a full AAAA combo in order to destroy one shadow, and,
for some reason, the scroll seems to be less effective with him.

When you use Kawarimi, you will counter-attack the person who attacked
you before, forcing you to use Kawarimi. Moreover, you'll auto-lock him

Not that easy, but not that hard... If you can use Naruto's special, your
chances will be quite high...

Fight 6:
Kyûbi Naruto VS Haku
Easy. Punch, kick and give everything you've got... ^^

Fight 7:
Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura VS Zabuza
What the fuck is this fight? Nevermind. Like with Kakashi, that's great.

Fight 8:
Sharingan no Kakashi VS Zabuza
Easy easy... Chidori power ^^

Fight 9:
Naruto VS Lee
Not that hard... Just know when to attack

Fight 10:
Sasuke VS Lee
Same than fight 9.

Fight 11:
Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura VS Orochimaru
Okay, just be sure he doesn't hit you with his special and that should do it.
Worst case scenario, one of your partner is killed.

Fight 12:
Naruto VS Shadow Ninjas
Just kill all those shadows and pick up some food to get health back.

Fight 13:
Sakura VS Ino
If you have problem, just do the turtle and launch a AAA combos repetively...

Fight 14:
Naruto VS Kiba
Same than before, no real problem

Fight 15:
Hinata VS Neji
Okay, here it can be a little tougher... Just use the R button often, and do
great and long combos.

Fight 16:
Lee vs Gaara
As soon as the fight start : DOWN+X ! Then fight Gaara a bit avoiding to use your
R button... And when you've done quite enough damage and have a full chakra bar,
DOWN+X again, then : RUN FOR YOU LIFE, and X to finish him. Pray so that the hit
connects... If the special doesn't kill Gaara, just X again right after the end
should help...

Fight 17:
Naruto vs Neji
Not that hard comared to some others... Just pay attention to Neji's move,
especially his counter, but not that difficult honestly.

Fight 18:
Sasuke vs Gaara
I hope you know some long combos for Sasuke as you will need some in order to
hope Gaara will stop being on the defensive... Don't stay far from him, and do
not throw kunais, it's pretty useless.

Fight 19:
Sasuke vs Gaara, Kankurô
Okay, now that's harder. I suggest fighting Gaara first, as Kankurô's puppet,
Karasu, could protect him too long and Gaara would use the opportunity to
cause some severe damage...
Whenn Gaara is off, just pummel Kankurô like everyone else...

Fight 20:
Naruto vs Gaara
Hey, just a normal fight for the end, but Gaara his defending often... Let him
attack and when his combos finish, start yours... and keep your chakra for
Kawarimi no jutsu. Also, stay near of him or he will just use sand attack from
afar...

Fight 21:
Lee vs Gai
Lee CANNOT use the gates during this fight, making it a bit harder

Fight 22:
Lee vs Neji
Lee CAN use the gates, so DOWN+X twice, and X... ^_^

Fight 23:
Sasuke vs Neji
Nothing special to say.

Fight 24:
Kakashi vs Gai
The ultimate sensei fight isn't that hard... oh well have fun ^^

Fight 25:
Kakashi vs Orochimaru
Just be sure not to let Orochimaru hit you with his special and everything
should be fine.

No real problem... I personnaly like Ino Fowerd+BBB but do as you wish ^^

A5. First of all you DON'T have to buy them... You've got them as soon as you
get the character concerned... For Long haider Sakura, you have it at the
beginning of the game, just press X on the character select screen to select
her. The same goes for Haku without his mask... Which isn't that much usefull
as he ofent loose his mask during a fight... How well...

Q6. I can't unlock characters... how come?
A6. You must finish the story mode once in order to unlock them in Anko's shop.

Q7. I need money! Help me!
A7. Well the best way when you start with the game is either to do the story
mode, or to do the arcade mode. I suggest doing first the arcade mode, then
the story mode... When you've finished it, just buy what you want, but be sure
to get all the options with the kunais before. Those are games mode, and one of
the last one will be "shadow fighting" with wich you can easily get around
10000 cash in one fight...

Q8. How do I get more stages?
A8. You buy them in Anko's shop, like a lot of things. Their icons are Orange
and they cost 2000.

Q9. Stranges things in Anko's shop appears, one type is blue-gray and cost 1000,
the other one looks like a cartoon ballon and cost 1500. What are those?
A9. Those things appears when you finish the arcade mode with a character.
When you finish it, Anko's offers to sell informations about the character
(1000) and sounds effects of the characters (1500). They are available in the
Omake menu.

I will do some combos for your favorite character, but this FAQ doesn't aim at
giving all the combos. It's just a little help for the people a bit lost... Not
an hardcore player FAQ...

Bugs & Secrets [B00]

In thsi section I'm going to try and explain what little things can be found in the
game, often useless, I admit, and sometimes REALLY annoying...

BUGS:
MEMORY CARD BUG:
What's that? A bug that just erase your Naruto 2's game save.
It happened to me once: I got a red prompting on loading the game, and then, it was
erased... I don't know how or why it occured, nevertheless, I had to start all over
again... That's why I suggest, if you have two memory cards, to copy your save on
the other one, just in case...

INO TELEPORT:
As you may have noticed, Ino can teletport during one of her combo (something like
BBBBA, but I'm not sure...). After teleporting, you can immediatly do X in order to
use your special really quickly... But it's do or die in fact...
Sometimes, Ino will appear near the opponent, but not in his back... If you're lucky
enough, she will automaticly aim at him, and use her special correctly (it's kinda
weird to see her moving this fast in her shin-ten-shin position :/)... But most of
the time, she will just screw up and laucnh her spirit god know where... Too bad...
Of course, if you reappear int the opponent's back, there is a very high chance for
the shin-ten-shin to hit your opponent.

SECRETS:
GUEST STARRING:
As in the first Naruto game, you can see, in the background, various character in some
of the stage...
For exemple, in the stage near the ramen store, you can see Choji having a meal at the
store...
Or in the stage during the preliminaries exam, you can see Hayate watching the match...
There's a lot more for you to discover...

LONG HAIRED SAKURA:
Press X when highlighting Sakura to choose long hair Sakura.
In order to have long haired Sakura in her alternate costume, press Z.

MIZUKI ALTERNATE COSTUME:
To select Mizuki in his original costume, highlight Iruka and press X. If you want to
use Mizuki in his alternate costume, highlight Iruka, and press Z.

NO MASK HAKU:
Press X when highlighting Haku to choose No Mask Haku.
In order to have No Mask Haku in his alternate costume, press Z.
