I. Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm writing this FAQ because Kitana is my favourite character in Mortal Kombat:
Deadly Alliance and I have worked out how to use each of her fighting styles
effectively. I have also come up with some very nasty kombos. If you have any
questions or contributions to make, don't hesitate to email me at:
[email protected]. Now, on with the guide.
To unlock Kitana as a playable character: open Koffin KI (2931 Sapphire Koins)
To unlock Kitana's alternate costume: open Koffin BQ (1327 Gold Koins)
Name: Kitana
Status: Princess
Alignment: Good
Weight: 128 lbs
Height: 5'9"
Fighting Styles: Eagle Claw, Ba Gua and Steel Fan
Difficulty: 4
When Shao Kahn invaded Outworld he killed Kitana's parents and made her his
adopted daughter so that he could claim the throne in his name. Kitana has
always been an enemy of her foster father so she allied her forces with the
Shokan army headed by Prince Goro. The two of them waged war on Shao Kahn but
when Prince Goro was killed in battle things took a turn for the worse. The
Shokan army became a learderless rabble and Kitana's forces had to fight alone.
Princess Kitana considered withdrawing her forces and would have done had she
not recieved word that the Emperor Shao Kahn had been assassinated by unknown
assailants. Shao Kahn's forces fled along with Kano's troops and it seemed as
though Kitana's forces had won. Soon after the apparent victory, Kitana's
homeland Edenia was attacked by a new enemy, this new enemy was the Dragon
King's Undefeatable Army. Kitana's men fought bravely but were easily slain by
their enemy's cursed weapons. As Kitana's men were slain, their souls streamed
towards a green beacon protruding from the roof of Shang Tsung's new fortress.
Several heroes from Earthrealm and Outworld have gathered to oppose the Deadly
Allience of Shang Tsung and Quan Chi and the Dragon King's Undefeatble Army.
Kitana joins these heroes in an attempt to save Outworld from the new threat.

III. Using Kitana
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) Pros and Kons
Let's start with the good news.....
Pros:
1) Kitana is VERY fast.
2) An awsome impale move, the best by far IMO.
3) Her moves can be very unpredictable.
4) She is on the good side! YAY!
5) In answer to kon #2 (see below): Once is enough!
6) Her character design is great (unlike some *coughdrahminchough*).
7) Unique, no other character is at all like Kitana.
8) 2 special moves in weapon stance.
.....And finish with the bad news.
Kons:
1) Too weak, Kitana is well known to do very little damage with her attacks.
2) No projectile attack (except her impale which can only be used once).
3) If her impale misses or is blocked it's gone, no second chances.
4) Doesn't have wings like Nitara :-(
5) No Nenjin: It would help IMMENSLY.
Overview:
1) Kitana's lack of strength is more than made up for by her great speed.
2) However good her impale is, you only get one shot so don't use it unless you
are 100% sure it will hit and not be blocked (sorry, there's no getting round
that problem).
3)Unfortunately Kitana has no power up move so you're stuck with
her powerless attacks forever, all I can say is: get used to it.
b) How to fight effectively as Kitana
Despite the fact that Kitana does very little damage she has some of the
quickest attacks in the game, use them as much as possible, you can fight
effectively as Kitana in 3 ways:
1) Verses slow, powerful characters:
Play an all out offensive, the enemy won't be able to hit you as you dance
around them kicking their heads in. But be warned, if you do get hit you're in
for a lot of pain.
2) Verses average characters:
Just stay out of their way and wait for their attacks to finish and then go in
and out with hit and run attacks. Carry on with hit and run techniques and
don't get hit.
3) Verses fast, weak characters:
To be safe play a defensive game, block and counter a lot. Getting hit is not
such a big deal against weaker opponents but try not to get hit too much. Just
be persistant and go for the impale, then you've half won the match.

IV. Kitana's Kostumes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original Kostume:
Player 1:
Kitana wears a blue veil over her mouth and silver ear rings. She has
silver wrist guards, a pair of black, fingerless gloves and two black upper-arm
bands. On her torso she wears a sleeveless, blue top that laces up across her
chest and is black down the middle at the front. She wears a black, leather
belt with a gold clasp and a pair of very short, black shorts. On her feet she
wears thigh high, blue stockings and black, high heeled boots that end just
below her knees. She also wears black, silver-trimmed knee pads. Kitana has an
Extraordinarily long pony tail ending below her knees.
Player 2:
Kitana wears a purple veil over her mouth and silver ear rings. She has
silver wrist guards, a pair of black, fingerless gloves and two black upper-arm
bands. On her torso she wears a sleeveless, purple top that laces up across her
chest and is black down the middle at the front. She wears a black, leather
belt with a gold clasp and a pair of very short, black shorts. On her feet she
wears thigh high, purple stockings and black, high heeled boots that end just
below her knees. She also wears black, silver-trimmed knee pads. Kitana has an
Extraordinarily long pony tail ending below her knees.
Alternate Kostume:
Player 1:
Kitana wears no veil in this costume though she still wears the silver ear
rings and she also wears a silver collar around her neck. She wears silver
wrist guards. Her sleeveless top is completely purple and laces up at the
sides where her waist is exposed. She wears the same shorts as in her original
kostume but they are purple. She wears a black, leather belt with a small
golden clasp on it. She wears black tights which darken her legs. Her purple
boots are high heeled and end just above her knees, they have gold trimmings.
She wears purple thigh pads with lighter purple flower patterns on them.
She also still has her five foot pony tail.
Player 2:
Kitana wears no veil in this costume though she still wears the silver ear
rings and she also wears a silver collar around her neck. She wears silver
wrist guards. Her sleeveless top is completely blue and laces up at the sides
where her waist is exposed. She wears the same shorts as in her original
kostume but they are blue. She wears a black, leather belt with a small golden
clasp on it. She wears black tights which darken her legs. Her blue boots are
high heeled and end just above her knees, they have gold trimmings. She wears
blue thigh pads with lighter blue flower patterns on them. She also still has
her five foot pony tail.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V. Eagle Claw
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) History
The Eagle Claw system of Kung Fu originated in southern China during the Sung
Dynasty around the year 1250 AD.
b) Description
Kitana stands on one bent leg with the other out in front of her and bent back
towards her. Her feet are angled with her toes pointing to the side. She holds
one arm bent behind her with her hand in a fist and the other arm in front with
a claw shaped hand.
c) How to use Eagle Claw
Make good use of Kitana's side step claw (U+2) as this is an excellent way of
dodging an enemy attack and hitting them before they have time to block. This
move should be used as much as possible when your opponent performs a nenjin
(power up). Low Eagle Claw (D+1) is a great attack to use against a player who
is inexperienced at fighting Kitana, it looks like a sort of low attack but the
look and name are deceptive as it hits high. Mid Eagle Claw (1) is one of two
attacks that set up a lot of major kombos (6 in total). High Eagle Claw (B+1)
is a slower but stronger version of Mid Eagle Claw, High Eagle Claw also makes
your opponent step back a few paces and is ideal for setting them up for a fan
lift. Chyun Teui (B+3) is a very sneaky shin kick that looks (at first) to be a
side heel kick. Claw Scratch (D+3) hits low twice so an opponent may let his
guard down after the first hit and be hit by the second. Solar Plexus Kick is
the second attack that sets up many major kombos (8 in total). Lifting Kick
(U+4) is a standard juggling move for setting up kombos. Front toe kick should
be used often, it is a very good (and intimidating) push away attack. Kitana's
special attack in Eagle Claw stance is an unblockable shove (S) that puts some
distance between Kitana and her adversary.
d) Eagle Claw Basic and Style Branch Kombos
A Kombo is a string of moves that you can pull off without your enemy being
able to do anything about it (provided at least one attack hits them). A simple
kombo is just a series of attacks with no style changes that is less than 8
hits long. A style branch kombo is a series of attacks that flows smoothly
through the character's styles and a style change kombo is a series of attacks
that I devised myself that change styles but not as smoothly as style branch
kombos, they ae just as effective though. Kombos of 8 or more hits are reserved
for my "Kustom Mega Kombos" section (section X).

VI. Ba Gua
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) History
Ba Gua Zhang, translated to Eight Trigram Palm, is a relatively new Chinese
martial art having been developed in the 1800's. Ba Gua Zhang was developed by
Dong Hai-Chuan, a Taoist of the Lung Men (Dragon Gate) sect. The circular
movements of the art are attributed to the circular chanting meditations done
by the Lung Men sect. Starting in the early 1900's, Ba Gua Zhang has been
associated with Hsing-I.
b) Description
Kitana's head faces her opponant but her body faces to the side. Her front leg
is straight and her back leg is bent with all her weight on it. Her feet face
the same way as her body.
c) How to use Ba Gua
Ox Tongue Palm Strike (1) and Dragon Palm Strike (D+1) are (although among the
weakest attacks in the game) insanely fast and a real pain to dodge (a lot like
Low Snapping Palm (2) and to a lesser extent, Low Lifting Palm (+3)) so use
these attacks against fast enemies like Li Mei, Nitara and Johnny Cage. Low
Upward Palm (D+4) is another fast attack to be used often. Spear Hand Thrust
(B+2) and Hooking Strike are push away attacks that do reasonable damage,
Spinning Force Palm (3) is good for the same reasons. Horse Kick (U+4) is a lot
like Eagle Claw's Lifting Kick but it is a little faster. Swinging Sweep (B+4)
is a classy attack, it is a very subtle shin sweep, which floors Kitana's
opponent in a very nasty way. Kitana's special move in Ba Gua is a back flip
escape move (S).
d) Ba Gua Basic and Style Branch Kombos
A Kombo is a string of moves that you can pull off without your enemy being
able to do anything about it (provided at least one attack hits them). A simple
kombo is just a series of attacks with no style changes that is less than 8

VII. Steel Fan
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) Description
Kitana wields 2 blue fans with steel blades on them, she can stab with the fans
closed and slice with them open.
b) How to use Steel Fans
Chest Strike (F+1) is an excellent push away attack that sends Kitana's
adversary flying back a huge distance. Shy Strike (B+2) is a very effective
attack for starting juggles. Sneaky low attacks like Downward Strike (D+3) and
Upward Strike (D+4) should be used often. Kitana's first special in Steel Fan
stance is a sidestep attack (S) like Eagle Claw's U+2 attack. The Steel Fans
true potential can be unleashed in a very quick, long ranged impale attack
(B+S), use it when the opponent opens himself up to attack but beware, if you
miss or the throw is blocked you will lose the fans and the ability to fan lift
your opponent.
c) Steel Fan Basic and Style Branch Kombos
A Kombo is a string of moves that you can pull off without your enemy being
able to do anything about it (provided at least one attack hits them). A simple
kombo is just a series of attacks with no style changes that is less than 8

VIII. Special Attacks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fan Lift (B F 1)
Kitana spins one fan around her hand sending out levitation waves. Anyone hit
by these waves will uncontrollably float towards Kitana and will be unable to
attack or block for about three seconds leaving them open to attack. Fan lift
will automatically put Kitana into Steel Fan stance but remember you can change
stance while your enemy is helpless.
Pretty Kick (U+3)
Kitana flies towards her adversary and delivers two head kicks. This attack
covers a large distance and is great for dodging low sweeps and counter
attacking. Kombos ending in pop up attacks can have two hits add to them with
a pretty kick.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IX. Fatality
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deadly Kiss (D U F F 2)
Kitana raises one leg and kisses her opponent on the cheek, they stagger back
and grow three times their normal size and then shrink back. They expand again
and then shrink back and cough up some blood. They then expand a third time and
explode into a pool of blood and body bits.
(this looks better in Kitana's alternate kostume)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
X. My Kustom Mega Kombos
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are some sick kombos I came up with in practise mode, they are all at
least 8 hits long and some are complex extended style banch kombos. Use these
kombos as much as possible for they can massacre any character (save Moloch)
with ease.

XI. VS Characters FAQs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
a) Kitana VS Kano
Combat Xing Yi with Eagle Claw. Toe Kick (B+4) ia s great move to use along
with Tiny Bubbles (4 4 3). Aikido is mailnly a defensive style and can be
combatted with Ba Gua without too much trouble. Now the Butterfly Knives come
out. This is where he really has Kitana's number, they are dirty weapons in
Kano's hands. If he does choose to use them, don't panic, get Kiana's fans out
and stay at long distance (too far for his Cannon Ball to hit you) and try to
impale him but be on guard for his laser. At close range, Kano's Cannon Ball
can come out of nowhere, make sure he can't get so close that you can't see it
coming.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
b) Kitana VS Scorpion
The best way to beat the "guy with things coming out of his hand" is to stay
close so as not to provoke a harpoon but be defensive in case of a back flip
kick which can be followed up by a hellfire attack. Use juggles a lot
(especially the Kustom Mega Kombos) to avoid being juggled yourself. If
Scorpion pulls his Ninja Sword out stay at mid-long distance and attempt a Fan
Lift (B F 1) to attack safely and avoid his sick sword kombos. When you are far
away from Scorpion DO NOT stand and guard expecting a harpoon because the
cunning Scorpion player will use an unblockable hell fire and then harpoon you
before you can block so stay on the move and only block when you see the
harpoon come out (don't worry you have plenty of time). If you are hit by a
harpoon, don't panic, just hold down Block so that a slow attack might be
blocked. And the golden rule is: stay away from the corners!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
c) Kitana VS Nitara
Nitara is a lot stronger than Kitana and only a little slower: be prepared!
Stay at long range and go in and out with quick recovery attacks. Nitara's
blood spit is slow so you'll have no trouble blokcking or dodging it. Pretty
Kick (U+3) and Front Toe Kick (B+4 in Eagle Claw) are useful mid range attacks
to use on her when possible. If you are in Eagle Claw and Nitara performs a
nenjin (power up), you should switch to Ba Gua IMMEDIATELY. Use escape (S) and
fast attacks until the nenjin wears off (about 5-10 seconds). Fast attacks
include Ox Tongue Palm Strike (1) and Dragon Palm Strike (D+1). Also you
should block high as Nitara has no powerful kombos that start low. If Nitara
produces her Kamas, stay out of reach and attempt Fan Lifts. The most useful
stance to use is Steel Fan so you shouldn't really attempt to impale Nitara
unless she decides to power up while you have them out (the perfect
oppertunity). Use chest strike (F+1) as much as you can but don't over use it
or you'll become very predictable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
d) Kitana VS Raiden
First and foremost: watch out for Raiden's Sweep Smash with his staff, it is
VERY cheap but just remember to block low, then high. Raiden doesn't have many
other low attacks to get into a twist over so generally block high. Stay at mid
range and try to attack with pretty kicks (U+3). If they connect, start up a
kombo, if not, hit block right away. Raiden is not all that fast except during
his kombos and Kitana is among the fastest attackers in the game so you can
actually interrupt a few of Raiden's attacks. His Lightning Bolt is average
speed but not particularly powerful and you can see his Lightning Charge a mile
away, so quickly impale him whilst he is doing it. Be persistant in using quick
attacks and as always, try for Kustom Mega Kombos.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
e) Kitana VS Reptile
Don't get too close to Reptile or you'll never see his Lizard Ball coming
before it hits you. His attacks are generally short ranged and his Acid Spit is
a turtle of an attack so do not fear. As soon as Reptile starts a Lizard Ball
block low, he'll take a while to recover so lay into him with a Kombo. in his
Hung Gar stance, Reptile has an irritating move where he pulls you to the floor
by your shoulders so watch out for it. When Reptile gets his Kirehashi out,
produce your fans and get stuck in with your speedy attacks. If he tries to
impale you with his rediculously slow impale attack, block it (easily) and
counter attack with your much faster impale before he can block. Remember not
to get too close and also remember that Pretty Kick (U+3) is very effective
aganst Reptile.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
f) Kitana VS Cyrax
The best stance to kombat Ninjitsu is definately Eagle Claw (the slower but
stronger of Kitana's stances). Cyrax is so bad at Ninjitsu (being a bit
sluggish) that he won't even get time to think about attacking before being
had. Watch out for Cyrax's circular saw attack, make sure that you either block
or dodge it. Before Cyrax puts the saw away again (as long as it didn't get
you) you have loads of time to impale him so do that. If you get cornered by
Cyrax, use Sidestep attacks (U+2 in Eagle Claw or S in Steel Fan) and muller
him a bit with kombos. If he tries to impale you when you have your fans out
you can easily block it and give him one back before he can block. Seriously,
against Kitana, Cyrax is a joke.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
g) Kitana VS Mavado
When in Long Fist, Mavado often takes a while to recover from blocked attacks,
use this time to your best advantage because the whole game changes when he
gets his hookswords out. Long fist and Wing Chun are not particularly fast and
they generally concentrate on high attacks, use Ba Gua to kombat these stances,
Swinging Sweep (B+4) is very helpful here. Now Mavado produces his Hookswords
(ARGH!). These weapons are (simply put) sick! They have some proper cheapo
attacks. Draw your fans NOW. You'll have to put up with being hit a lot because
Mavado has some very inconspicuous attacks hitting both high and low. Try your
best to stay away from him and provoke a Vault Kick out of him, when he does
this and you see the ropes come out of his sleeves, you can do one of three
things:
1) Dodge or block the attack and beat seven colours out of Mavado while he is
recovering.
2) Perform a sidestep attack (U+2 in Eagle Claw or S in Steel Fan)
or
3) Quickly impale him (B+S in Steel Fan) before he even gets near you.
Now just keep hitting him with strong attacks to finish him off and then kiss
him goodnight (D U F F 2).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
h) Kitana VS Li Mei
Li Mei is seriously lacking in reach and power and her weapons are rubbish. But
she's got speed and lots of it. The first thing to remember is to stay away
from the walls, if you are mashed into a wall by her Flying Fists attack it
will do triple the normal damage. If Li Mei backs into a wall, BE CAREFUL, her
throw will switch the side you are on and put YOU by the wall. Eagle Claw's
shove (S) is useful if you are backed into a wall, push Li Mei away and quickly
escape. Her Sai attacks usualy hit low but don't forget to block high if she
raises her Sais for an impale. Use long ranged kicks like Front Toe Kick (F+4
in Eagle Claw) and block her Sparkler. Sparkler is weak but you have to recover
from it and you'll be kombo attacked in the meantime.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i) Kitana VS Frost
Frost is quick but Kitana's fastest attacks are faster than Frost's. ALWAYS be
ready for her Ground Ice, it can be very hard to notice at times. The best way
to avoid the ice is a Pretty Kick (U+3) which will launch Kitana over the ice
and plant her feet in Frost's face. Fight Tong Bei with Eagle Claw's fast
attacks like 1 4 4 3. Yuan Yang is best fought in Ba Gua, use fast kicks like
Stepping Side Kick (4) and Horse Kick (U+4). Frost's Daggers can be overcome
with Kitana's Steel Fans. Use Royal Pain (2 2 F+1), Forever (2 2 2 F+2) and
Edenian Rush (2 2 2 B+4). So as not to become too predictable, throw in the odd
Low Stab (D+2) and Low Poke (B+4). If Frost tries a slide attack; block low and
either use Lifting Kick (U+4) if you are in Eagle Claw, Horse Kick (U+4) if you
are in Ba Gua or Sky Stike (B+2) if you are in Steel Fan. Whichever you do, do
it quick and turn it into a kombo.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
j) Kitana VS Hso Hao
Hsu Hao is pretty slow but VERY strong, don't let him hit Kitana and DO NOT LET
HIM GRAB HER! (especialy the one where he picks her up, holds her up high and
slams her down across his knee, it does a lot of damage). Use Ba Gua to get in
lots of quick attacks and give Hsu Hao no quarter. If he switches to Wrestling
watch out, don't use Eagle Claw, he can easily catch Kitana's feet when she
kicks in this stance and if he does a reversal she'll be helpless long enough
for him to pick her up and do a back breaker which is very powerful. Use Ba
Gua's fast attacks so that you don't get reversed and make good use of it's
escape to stop him picking her up or doing one of his other throws. Watch out
for Hsu Hao's Sun-Moon Chackrams, they are very well balanced in reach, speed
and power. Fight them with Steel Fan's faster attacks especially Chest Strike
(F+1) and Pincess Blast (3 3).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
k) Kitana VS Kenshi
Watch out for his telekinetic attacks, they could catch you off guard if you're
not careful. Ba Gua is very effective throughout the fight; use it's faster
attacks like Ox Tongue Palm Strike (S) and Spear Hand Stike (B+2) etc. Eagle
Claw won't help much except for it's 1 4 4 3 kombo. Kitana's Steel Fans are no
match for Kenshi's sword so try for the early impale and keep him at bay with
Ba Gua's speedy attacks while he slowly bleeds to death. If Kenshi get's his
sword out, hit him with Pretty Kicks (U+3) and after each one; jump back a
couple of times to avoid being caught by his sword as you recover.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
l) Kitana VS Bo' Rai Cho
To start with; switch straight to Ba Gua and try to style branch kombo into
Steel Fan. Against Bo' Rai Cho, the fans themselves are relatively useless,
lack the range and power that is needed to fight any of Bo' Rai Cho's styles
so try for the early impale and you're half way to victory. Now switch to Eagle
Claw and attack with Eagle Claw kombos and Pretty Kicks (U+3). Go on a full
scale attack. This assault along with the impale will finish him quickly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
m) Kitana VS Sub-Zero
Don't let the "guy who freezes stuff" get too close, if he does, use escape (S
in Ba Gua) or his cold shoulder will catch you off guard. Don't allow him to do
pop up attacks or you'll be open to his ice shaker and a major kombo. If he
get's his sluggish KORI blade out use Pretty Kicks (U+3); if you hit him, jump
back TWICE to avoid being hit or frozen, if he blocks it, don't jump back at
all, just block.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
n) Kitana VS Kung Lao
Use Steel Fan to combat Mantis, go all out attack with attacks like Princess
Blast (3 3) and Low Stab (D+2). Shaolin Fist can be beaten by Eagle Claw's long
ranged attacks like Toe Kick (B+4) and Double Eagle Claw (F+2). Sidestep Claw
(U+2), Cyun Teui (B+3) and Pretty Kick (U+3) all work well but after a Pretty
Kick, jumpo back and block in case he takes his hat off to you. Kung Lao's
Broadswors seems to be Kitana's real weak point; in the hands of a skilled Kung
Lao player, Kitana is more or less completely defensless against it. I suggest
you go into Eagle Claw and use Splitting Bone (4 3 B+3) as well as hit and run
Pretty Kicks.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
o) Kitana VS Johnny Cage
Karate has some very fast, high damage kombos but they have short range so you
can beat him back with long range Eagle Claw attacks like Toe Kick (B+4) and
Double Eagle Claw (F+2). Use Ba Gua's fast and low attacks against Jeet Kune Do
such as Ox Tongue Palm Strike (1) and Swinging Sweep (B+4). Fight Cage's
Nunchaku with Kitana's Fans, use mid range attacks like Forever (2 2 2 F+2) and
Princess Blast (3 3) to stay out of reach. Be on constant guard when you're not
attacking for the Johnny Uppercut and the Shadow Kick.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p) Kitana VS Sonya
I reccomend fighting Kempo with Ba Gua, use fast attacks like Spinning Force
Palm (3) and Horse Kick (U+4). Tae Kwon Do is very offense based and has an
annoying tripple kick that you have to block low, high, high. Fight Tae Kwon Do
with Steel Fans and Pretty Kicks (U+3). If she gets her Kali Sticks out, use
Fan Lifts a (B F 1) lot to make your attacking safer. A final note: Watch out
for that purple dust she kisses at you, it is a paralysis chemical.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
q) Kitana VS Jax
A giant, muscle bound monster with metal arms and a machine gun against a tiny
128 lb princess with a couple of pretty fans? hardly seems fair! Jax's Muay
Thai has some strong kicks with good reach and covarage (from Jax's clown feet
that are about three times as big as Kitana's dainty, little feet). Use Eagle
Claw kicks and kombos beginning with 4. Toe Kick (B+4) and Lifting Kick (U+4)
work well and so does Pretty Kick (U+3). Judo has an annoying reversal move,
don't get let Kitana get caught by it or she'll be helpless against Jax's Judo
throws. Use Ba Gua quick attacks like the Art Of Overkill (1 3 F+3) which can
be turned into a juggle kombo. Jax's Tonfas are easily beaten by Kitana's Steel
Fans but don't forget to do a lot of low blocking against them. Jax's Machine
Gun is not very powerful but it will push Kitana back so block it. Jax's old
school Ground Pound is easily avoided by a jump or (if you're close enough) a
Pretty Kick.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
r) Kitana VS Drahmin
Drahmin can be a real pain attimes, he has loasd of really powerful juggles but
you should be OK with Kitana's superior speed. Ball O' Flies is fairly powerful
but pretty slow so don't worry about this. Block low at long range so as not to
get hit by his ground whack thing and you should be OK.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
s) Kitana VS Blaze
Hapkido has a lot of low trips so low blocking is required but don't neglect
blocking high or you'll fall victim to Blaze's Axe Kick. Use Eagle Claw's mid
range attacks but be careful when doing a Toe Kick (B+4), one of his attacks
will go right under it, catching Kitana's other leg and sweeping her off her
feet. Fight Jeet Kune Do's fast kicks with Ba Gua's fast attacks. In both Jeet
Kune Do and Hapkido, Blaze can taunt, what better oppertunity to impale him?
Don't get caught by Xing Yi's reversal, use more quick attacks and unexpected
attacks. Xing Yi has mostly long ranged kicks so you'll probably need to use
Eagle Claw which has a slight speed disadvantage. You'll have to chose either
trying short ranged Ba Gua attacks or risk getting caught in Blaze's reversal.
Balze's Fire Ball is a basic projectile, nothing to worry about but his Flame
Uppercut can juggle you. Falme Charge is an attack that works best at short
range when it's unexpected and that doesn't fit Blaze's style so expect it only
as a defensive move.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
t) Kitana VS Mokap
Karate is spread out in offense and defense and has a huge variety of attacks,
stay alert for it's Sidestep Kick! Tai Chi is full of mid ranged attacks; get
up close with Kitana's Steel Fans and impale him if he tries to taunt. You'll
have to fight Tai Chi with Ba Gua (which shouldn't be too hard) if you impale
him. Watch out for Tae Kwon Do's low, high, high kick and block accordingly.
Expect log range from Tae Kwon Do and use Fan Lift (B F 1) and Pretty Kick
(U+3) to your advantage. Mokap's Fire Ball is a basic projectile, nothing
to worry about but his Back Flip Kick can be annoying although it can't be
followed up by Scorpion's Summon Hellfire. Charge Punch is an attack that works
best at short range when it's unexpected but it's not all that powerful.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
u) Kitana VS Moloch
Moloch can seem daunting at first but can easily be had with cheap tactics. I
strongly recommend you stay in Eagle Claw for the whole battle. Start off with
a Pretty Kick (U+3) then sidestep to Moloch's left and use Shin Kick (B+3).
Then do another Pretty Kick and sidestep again to Moloch's left and do another
Shin Kick. Continue with these tactics and you'll soon win.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
v) Kitana VS Quan Chi
Combat Tang Soo Do with Eagle Claw's mid to long ranged attacks like Toe Kick
(B+4) and low claw swipe (D+2). Beware of Tang Soo Do's reversal, if one of
Kitana's attacks is caught; block IMMEDIATELY. Fight Escrima with Ba Gua's fast
and low attacks like Ox Tongue Palm Strike (1) and Low Snapping Palm (D+2).
Quan Chi's Broadswords are very effective and shouldn't be taken lightly. If
your opponent plays defensively, get stuck in with Kitana's Fans. If he won't
let you get that close, use Fan Lift (B F 1) to start up kombos.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
w) Kitana VS Shang Tsung
Fight Snake with Eagle Claw. Use kombos like 1 4 4 3 to keep him at bay. Crane
has some very fast kicks that can be style branched so stay on your guard and
fight with Ba Gua's fast punches such as Ox Tongue Palm Strike (1) and Low
Snapping Palm (D+4). Crane has a stupid reversal move, don't let Tsung catch
any of Kitana's attacks or you'll be open for major komboage. Beat his Staight
Sword with Kitana's Steel Fans. Use kombos starting with "2" (either 2 2 2 F+2,
2 2 2 B+4 or 2 2 F+1). Be on guard for his Steal Soul, it's hard to see it
coming so be on guard and be vigilant. His firball is nothing to worry about
but his 3D fire is, it can be used at long and close range so avoid it with a
Pretty Kick (U+3).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
x) Kitana VS Kitana *MIRROR MATCH*
So it came down to it, your friend.....Or enemy - or computer for that matter
can't win so they're going to try and beat you at your own game. Don't Let
Them! Combat her styles with a variation on yours, be unpredictable and
distance your attacks carefully. Only consider impaling her if she either has
impaled you, tried to impale you or is at least half a life bar below you. Try
to imagine what she will do next using your own experiences and act
accordingly. If she gets the upper hand, don't give up or it'll only get worse.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XII. Kitana's Ending (MAJOR SPOILERS)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kitana's long time enemy Shao Kahn was dead, and the alliance of Shang Tsung
and Quan Chi was defeated with the help of warriors from Earthrealm. Although
there was peace once more throughout the realms, all was not right for Kitana.
Saddened by the death of Goro, she attended a ceremony in the Kuatan Palace to
honour her fallen friend and ally. Following Shokan tradition, Prince Goro's
body was lowered into the molten rock contained within the throne room itself.
As Kitana said goodbye to her wartime ally, she also held a moment of silence
for Liu Kang and secretly wished he had joined her in Edenia so any years ago.
