Version 1.1 (7/2/02): After a LONG absence from GameFAQs, I have revamped
and resubmitted this old FAQ for the second time!
Version 1.0 (1/18/99): The first version of this FAQ.

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This is the first sequel to the Mega Man X series of the SNES console. It
followed up on the storyline from the previous installment, since in this
game, you must put Zero back together again. The gameplay aspects are all the
same though; new Mavericks, new weapons, and new upgrades to be had. The X-
Hunters also are introduced with this title, which adds to the challenge
since you have to defeat them in order to obtain Zero's parts. Personally, I
feel this one is the best in the SNES MMX series, so try it if you haven't
already in all these years!

For the maps I drew while going through each level, follow this key so you
know what each letter means. After each map, I'll get into further detail on
how to collect any special items in that level. Read the Bosses section for
help on beating each level's boss.

-= 5. Weapons -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Spinning Wheel
Get From: Wheel Gator
Description: Shoot a spinning wheel blade in front of you. It'll move
along the ground for a bit, or until it reaches an
obstacle/enemy, then stops and disappears. When fully
charged, a giant wheel will appear and shoot small beams in
8 directions.
Strike Chain
Get From: Wire Sponge
Description: A small chain is shot straight ahead, grappling onto and
hurting enemies. When charged, a larger and longer version
of the chain is shot ahead.
Sonic Slicer
Get From: Overdrive Ostrich
Description: Throw a few small slicers ahead, which will richochet if
they hit a wall or the floor. When you charge it up, several
slicers are shot in the air. They are then rained down
throughout the area, much like how Overdrive Ostrich uses in
the boss battle.
Bubble Splash
Get From: Bubble Crab
Description: Shoot a string of bubbles ahead, which will then float
upward before popping. If you charge it up fully, a ring of
bubbles will surround you as a shield. If you're in the
water with it charged, you can jump really high!
Speed Burner
Get From: Flame Stag
Description: A giant puff of fire is shot ahead, burning whatever it
hits. When charged, you dart straight ahead while entirely
engulfed by a giant fireball. This can help if you're trying
to make it onto a high ledge but can't reach it by jumping
alone.
Silk Shot
Get From: Morph Moth
Description: Throw a small piece of silk ahead to hit an enemy. It can
demagnetize certain enemies (specifically the Magna
Centipede boss). When charged, a giant collection of silky
junk is collected on the end of your buster. When you let go
of Y, you throw it ahead, damaging whatever it hits.
Magnet Mine
Get From: Magna Centipede
Description: A single mine is shot ahead, sticking to any wall/enemy it
touches. After it sticks to something, it'll explode moments
later. You can move it up or down by using the Control Pad
while it's moving. When charged, a small black hole is shot,
holding great magnetic power. You can maneuver it the same
way as the regular mine.
Crystal Hunter
Get From: Crystal Snail
Description: A small blob is shot a small distance ahead of you. If you
hit certain enemies with it, they become a crystallized
block for you to climb onto. When fully charged, the area is
warped and slowed down for several seconds, damaging enemies
onscreen.
G.Crush
Get From: Body Armor Upgrade
Description: Whenever you take damage after you've obtained the Body
Armor upgrade, power will be collected in this weapon's
meter. Once it's filled, select it and use it to unleash a
powerful gravity crush on all enemies onscreen! It can only
be used once though, so once it's used, you must build up
its power once again.
I.Tracer
Get From: Helmet Upgrade
Description: Send out a small radar box straight ahead to detect hidden
rooms in the area. If there is nothing found, it'll just go
offscreen and disappear. If something is found, it'll zoom
in and stop/beep on the hidden area.

-= 6. Bosses -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Giant Robot
Found: Intro Stage
Strategy: This giant robot is the first boss you encounter in this game.
All it does is jumps back and forth trying to attack you. Stay
on the high platform and jump/shoot it in the head until you
win.
Wheel Gator
Weapon: Spinning Wheel
Strategy: Avoid his spinning wheels by hanging on the walls and jumping
when they come. When he comes out of the sewage, jump to avoid
his numerous attacks. Use the Strike Chain to attack him, or
blast him with fully charged X-Buster shots.
Wire Sponge
Weapon: Strike Chain
Strategy: Avoid the tiny plant things when he throws them at you, and
watch out when he swings his "whip". Use the Sonic Slicer or X
Buster to attack until he's defeated. If you use the Sonic
Slicer to defeat him, his torso will go flying before he blows
up instead of staying in 1 piece! (It also cuts through his
blocking!)
Overdrive Ostrich
Weapon: Sonic Slicer
Strategy: Use the Crystal Hunter to stun him for a second, then when he
becomes vulnerable again, hit him with it again until he's
defeated. Watch out for when he jumps in the air and shoots
Sonic Slicers at you, and when he charges after you. (You can
also use the X-Buster, but the Crystal Hunter takes kills him
quicker.)
Bubble Crab
Weapon: Bubble Splash
Strategy: This guy is pretty simple, since all he does is form a bubble
shield and dashes at you. Avoid the bubble attack he tries to
hit you with, and use the Spinning Blade to take him out! (It
also goes through his "bubble" shield.)
Flame Stag
Weapon: Speed Burner
Strategy: When he jumps upward from wall to wall, watch out because he'll
come down and try to dive at you with a fiery attack. Avoid
that and constantly hit him with the Bubble Splash when he's
standing still to win easily.
Morph Moth
Weapon: Silk Shot
Strategy: When he's hanging by a thread from the ceiling as a small bug,
use the Speed Burner while avoiding the trash he sends spinning
in a line around the room. Stay ahead of it and attack with
Speed Burner when it's clear to do so. When you hit him enough,
the ceiling will blow and he'll become a giant moth. Continue
to use the Speed Burner while avoiding his silk sprinkling
attack from above until he's defeated.
Magna Centipede
Weapon: Magnet Mine
Strategy: Use the Silk Shot on him as soon as the battle starts to
destroy his tail. Then, continuously attack with the silk shot
when he's visible to cause damage. If he hangs on the ceiling,
use the Silk Shot so when it shatters, a piece of it shoots up
to hit him. Continue attacking in that fashion until he's
defeated.
Crystal Snail
Weapon: Crystal Hunter
Strategy: When he's not shielding himself inside his shell, shoot a
Magnet Mine at him. It will electrocute him! Then, shoot
another at the wall parallel to him and he'll slam right into
it! Repeat the process while avoiding his attack to defeat him.
Violen (First round)
Found: Random X-Hunter rooms
Strategy: This boss uses a huge spikeball that bounces around the room.
When he jumps into the air, he'll shoot yellow balls at which
are not much of a problem. Since his spikeball bounces around
the room, you might be able to predict where it'll go next.
Also, watch where you shoot because if it hits the spikeball,
the shot will vanish.
Violen (Second round)
Found: Sigma Stage 1
Strategy: Similar to the fight for Zero's Part, but this time he creates
platforms that he or you can use. When you have the chance, use
Bubble S. on him. A Sub-Tank will come in handy here.
Serges (First round)
Found: Random X-Hunter rooms
Strategy: This guy is a little tougher than Violen. When the pod he
operates puts its shield on, weapons won't effect him, and so
as soon as they disappear, shoot him. When you hit him, he'll
jump into the air and shoot these green rings at you. That is
also a good time to hit him. He also lays mines on the floor,
so watch your moves.
Serges (Second round)
Found: Sigma Stage 2
Strategy: This fight is very different from his other one. This time he
operates a machine with four large cannons; each one fires
something different. Don't very about the cannons because Silk
S. can take down with about three hits! Once all of the cannons
are gone, the front part of the machine disappears. Now he
fires green spheres at you that can split into four smaller
ones. Their directions alternate with each shot. This time, use
S. Slicer, but using it will make it harder to hit him. If you
find it too difficult, stick to Silk S. or use Magnet M. since
you can move it and if you hit his pod, it still damages him!
Agile (First round)
Found: Random X-Hunter rooms
Strategy: When the battle begins, jump kick up the side of the wall, and
Agile will create a "sword beam". Dodge it by going on the
ground. If you stay on the ground when he does that, you won't
be able to dodge the beam! Keep jump kicking against the wall
and attack him right after he uses the sword beam. Then he'll
dash across to the other side while slashing with his sword.
Just Air Dash to the other side and repeat the process until
he's defeated.
Agile (Second round)
Found: Sigma Stage 3
Strategy: This fight is also different from the other one. This time
around, Agile operates a spaceship. When he forms the spiked
platforms, electric sparks go around the room, and he drops the
platforms. To avoid them, try to stay the under the spaceship.
Sometimes missiles fly across the room and a larger bomb
appears. Just shoot it to destroy it. Since Magnet M. is
controllable, hitting him won't be hard at all!
Zero
Found: Sigma Stage 4 (If you haven't collected all his parts in the
Maverick Stages.)
Strategy: This version of Zero has abilities just like the real one! He
is very quick performing his moves, so make sure you bring
along filled Sub-Tanks. He can block most of your weapons, so
use S. Burner and charged up X Buster shots.
Sigma
Found: Sigma Stage 4
Strategy: This is the final battle in the game, against Sigma again. This
time around, his body makes him more agile, and so he moves
around the room quickly to attack. He uses his claw-like arms
to shoot electric balls at you, so climb up the walls to avoid
that. When he teleports, dash quickly to the side or else he'll
land on you. Let out charged shots whenever you get a clear
shot at him. After you deplete enough of his health, he'll
utilize a new move. He'll charge up, glowing yellow, then he'll
shoot out walls of electricity in either direction. Jump up the
walls to avoid those, and continue the attack to beat this
form.
Sigma Hologram
Found: Sigma Stage 4
Strategy: In this final form, Sigma turns into a giant holographic head.
It floats above the ground, moving back and forth to attack. He
can drop several enemy hatchlings to annoy you, so be prepared
to wipe those out when they appear. Sometimes he'll get to one
wall, then move across, shooting a beam downward to hit
anything directly below. Climb the walls and jump over him to
avoid that attack. Use the Strike Chain to cause damage, since
it is the most effective means of attacking this form. As you
hurt the hologram, it changes colors ranging from green to dark
red towards the end. When he's weak enough (in the red range),
he may also disappear, then reappear, trying to trap you inside
of it to hurt you. When he disappears, move quickly to avoid
the trap, then continue the attack to beat the game!

The Dragon Punch
----------------
As with the first Mega Man X game, there is a hidden Street Fighter move to
be found in this game as well. This time, it is the mighty Dragon Punch,
which can destroy all enemies and even bosses with one hit! The drawback is
that you must have all of the following:
1: All Heart and Sub Tanks
2: All the energy on your bar
3: All 8 Maverick bosses defeated
Here are the steps you must follow in order to get this weapon:
1: Go into Sigma Stage 3, and work your way until you come to a section
where there are 2 ladders: one going up that you can't reach by
jumping, and one that goes down.
2: There should be a bat enemy nearby. Lure it over so it flies below the
upper ladder, then use the Crystal Hunter to crystallize it. Climb
onto it and go up that ladder. Continue onward with aid from the Speed
Burner until you come to a pathway entirely lined by spikes (path that
goes right, down, then to the left).
3: Charge the Speed Burner fully, then hold down the Y button. Jump to
the right and air dash so you drop down to the lower section. Face
left and let loose with the Speed Burner to make it over those spikes.
You should make it to the safe ledge at the end.
4: Go down the following pit and slide along the left wall. You'll end up
stumbling upon a hidden room. If you meet the above requirements, a
Dr. Light capsule will be here. Enter to get this cool weapon!
To use the Dragon Punch, press Forward, Down, Down/Forward, then Forward + Y.
If done correctly, Mega Man will jump upward using a fiery punch!

As of this version, the file contains all the information I know to date. If
it is a work in progress, give me time before bombarding me with emails about
things being missing. All I ask is that you READ THE FAQ before emailing me,
since that's what it's here for! Don't waste my time (and yours) by asking me
for information obviously covered in the guide. If it's in reference to a
side quest or item, chances are they can be found in another section besides
the walkthrough, so check the appendices as well.
