=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mega Man 7's storyline, from the instruction manual...

DR. WILY BEHIND BARS

The world's pulse raced with excitement! Everyone truly believed the conniv-
ing Dr. Wily had been stopped for good and imprisoned by the valiant Mega Man.
Reporters jockeyed with cameramen for snapshots as the infamous Doctor hung
his head while being dragged away in handcuffs. Dr. Wily would soon be behind
bars. Or would he?

Dr. Wily was ready for anything. He had known his dastardly plans would end
in failure some day, so after six months without contact his laboratory sprung
to life. Monitors whirred into action, lights flashed and the lab control
panel booted up. In no time four hidden robots emerged. The robots then began
a rampage in search of their master. Wily had done it again. Nothing would get
in their way!

The world's racing pulse turned to nervous fear as a city was pummeled.
Wasn't Dr. Wily in jail? Why was this still happening. The four robots took no
heed to the great robot creator named Dr. Light. Mega Man found Dr. Light and
the canine cyborg Rush fallen in the streets.

"Dr. Light? Are you O.K.?" Mega Man shouted.

"Mega Man! We have no time," replied Dr. Light. "Dr. Wily is using his
robots to cover up his escape. You must go! Follow his spaceship!!!"

Mega Man, Dr. Light and Rush looked on in horror as Dr. Wily's spaceship
shot out of the prison. Dr. Wily was on the loose!

=-   4)   WEAPONS                                                        -=
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This section is a general overview of Mega Man's weapons.

-----------
Mega Buster
-----------
Received From: N/A

The usual infinite-ammo weapon. The Mega Buster can be charged up to dish
out more damage.

---------
Rush Coil
---------
Location: N/A

Rush Coil has the same effect it always has. Summon Rush and jump on him to
reach new heights.

--------
Rush Jet
--------
Location: Junk Man's Stage

Rush transforms into a jet for your use. He can only move forward and at two
different speeds.

-----------
Rush Search
-----------
Location: Freeze Man's Stage and Auto's Shop

This is the new Rush utility. Rush teleports and digs into the ground,
picking up any item he finds. You can find just about anything with this.

-------------
Super Adaptor
-------------
Location: Retrieve R, U, S, and H letters.

Now Rush can be Mega Man's new suit of armor! This adaptor allows you to
attack with a punch attack and get a short thrust in the air.

------------
Proto Shield
------------
Received From: Visit Proto Man in this order: Cloud Man's Stage, Turbo Man's
Stage, and then Shade Man's Stage.

The Proto Shield takes some effort to collect, but it doesn't really provide
much protection. When you stand still, Mega Man puts the shield in front of
him, blocking minor projectile attacks. If you're moving or jumping, the
shield is put away.

--------------
Freeze Cracker
--------------
Received From: Freeze Man

Fires a snowflake that splits into six after hitting a wall. Can be used to
freeze certain things.

------------
Thunder Bolt
------------
Received From: Cloud Man

Fires a ball of electricity that splits into two after connecting with an
enemy. Can be used to power-up machines.

-----------
Junk Shield
-----------
Received From: Junk Man

Creates a shield made from old junk. The shield falls apart as it takes more
damage. You can fire the shield in multiple directions.

-----------
Danger Wrap
-----------
Received From: Burst Man

Launches a bubble that arcs up. It can trap certain enemies and explode,
destroying the robot.

----------
Slash Claw
----------
Received From: Slash Man

Attack with a slash. It's a short-range weapon, but you can attack faster
with this than the others.

-----------
Noise Crush
-----------
Received From: Shade Man

Fires a small sound wave that can bounce off walls. If you pick up the wave
again, it "amplifies" and can do more damage at no extra energy cost.

------------
Scorch Wheel
------------
Received From: Turbo Man

Creates a shield of flames and throws it a short distance. As you might
expect, you can use it to set things on fire.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This section guides you through the game.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   INTRO STAGE                                                          >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
When you first begin, Mega Man, Roll, and Auto are riding through the city,
and eventually they come to a stop, so Mega Man decides to continue on by
himself. At the next screen he finds Dr. Light and Rush. While they're
chatting, Dr. Wily's four robots land in the prison and free their master.

After moving on for a bit, you'll find a robot similar to the one found in
MM7's intro. Just shoot the head repeatedly. A few screens later, Bass
suddenly appears and starts to attack without warning. Keep blasting him until
the duel is over and the stage ends.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   STAGE SELECT                                                         >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Unlike the past six Mega Man games, not all 8 'bots are available from the
start. Here you can only pick from 4: Freeze Man, Cloud Man, Junk Man, and
finally Burst Man. Start off with Burst Man.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   BURST MAN'S STAGE                                                    >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"R" Letter: This is located in the area where the water level goes up and
down. Reaching it is a piece of cake.

---------------
Mini-Boss: Crab
---------------
Nothin' tough here. Fire away with the Mega Buster. The machine will start
to turn red as takes more and more damage. When it launches the fire balls,
do *small* jumps. And instead of jumping when the crab flies right at ya,
slide under it.

---------
Burst Man
---------
Weakness: Mega Buster (or Freeze Cracker)

Now this guy is a pain in the ass, mainly because of the fact that touching
the wall causes you to bounce all over the place. Be VERY cautious when Burst
Man fires the Danger Wrap bubbles. You can get caught in one and end up
meeting the spiked ceiling head first. When he jumps into the air, make sure
ya hit him. This knocks him further back, so dodging the bubbles is somewhat
easier.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   CLOUD MAN'S STAGE                                                    >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"U" Letter: When you encounter the second hovering robot, hit it with Freeze
Cracker. This causes the weather to snow. At a point later in the
stage, all of the invisible platforms will be blanketed in snow.
Use Rush Coil to reach the high platform with the ladder. Move on
over to the left to find the letter.

Proto Man: Yes, the Blue Bomber's brother is here. When you reach the building
area, use Rush Coil to reach the ladder. Climb to find him and hear
his trademark whistle. He gives you a tip and teleports away.

---------
Cloud Man
---------
Weakness: Danger Wrap
Receive: Thunder Bolt

With the Danger Wrap, Cloud Man is a breeze. Just watch out for the two gaps
at the ends of the room. Every time he is hit with this weapon, this robot
hovers to the top of the screen and summons lightning. Time your shots
correctly so that he can never attack.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   JUNK MAN'S STAGE                                                     >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"S" Letter: Early on in the stage, there's a lava flow going down along a
wall. Fire the Freeze Cracker at it to make the lava freeze and
crumble, revealing a hidden passage. Go down the ladder and repeat
the process to collect the letter.

Rush Jet: In one area of this stage is a small machine that doesn't appear to
do anything. Hit it with Thunder Bolt to activate it. Move up the
tower to find a ladder out of your reach. Use a platform to climb it
         and find Rush Jet.

--------
Junk Man
--------
Weakness: Thunder Bolt
Receive: Junk Shield

Junk Man is just about as easy as Cloud Man was. Slap him with Thunder Bolt,
slide under him when he jumps, and fire at 'em again. Repeat until he bites
the dust.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   FREEZE MAN'S STAGE                                                   >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
"H" Letter: At one point in the stage there is an ice platform attached to the
wall with a ladder up above it. Use Rush Coil to climb the ladder.
Now use Rush Jet to reach it.

Rush Search: A bit after the letter's location, there's a room with several
platforms at the top of the screen. If you get up there and
continue to the right, you can acquire the R. Search weapon. Use
Rush Coil to reach the other platforms if necessary.

----------
Freeze Man
----------
Weakness: Junk Shield
Receive: Freeze Cracker

You have to be a bit quick on the trigger to beat this boss easily. Freeze
Man's attack pattern is simple and easy-to-follow. When he throws a ball of
energy to the ground, stay in the air so that Mega Man's doesn't get cold
feet. And if this boss throws the same attack directly at you, move out of the
away. You'll get frozen and take a lot of damage.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   DR. LIGHT'S LAB                                                      >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Once all four Robot Masters have been put out of comission, Mega Man decides
to visit Dr. Light. A while after they begin talking, the computer screen pops
up with an image of the Robot Museum under attack from...Dr. Wily! Dr. Light
sends the Blue Bomber after him.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   ROBOT MUSEUM                                                         >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This tiny level pays homage to the NES Mega Man series. The background music
contains clips from Guts Man's stage (MM1), Heat Man's stage (MM2), and Snake
Man's stage (MM3). And in the glass containers, you can see Blizzard Man,
Snake Man, Pharoah Man, Heat Man, Plant Man, Flame Man, Skull Man, and Ring
Man.

Anyway, moving along... In the next room, Dr. Wily exits the building with
Guts Man and drops an enemy for you to battle with.

-----
Clown
-----
Weakness: Thunder Bolt

Fire at his head to blow it off...literally. As his robotic noggin bounces
around the room, you hit it again to do more damage. The rest of the clown's
body jumps around and eventually reattaches his head. No real trouble here.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   STAGE SELECT                                                         >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
After talking with Dr. Light again, you return to the stage select screen to
find another group of 4 Robot Masters to dispose of. Begin this round with
Slash Man.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   SLASH MAN'S STAGE                                                    >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Beat: After you acquire the Scorch Wheel from Turbo Man, go to the forest area
and use the weapon on the last tree to burn it down. Climb the ladder,
shoot Beat's cage with a charged Mega Buster shot, and you can now use
     Beat.

----------------
Mini-Boss: T-Rex
----------------
This mechanical dinosaur will give you very little trouble. Shoot its lower
jaw until the big, bad dino explodes. You can pick up the energy capsule if
needed.

---------
Slash Man
---------
Weakness: Freeze Cracker
Receive: Slash Claw

This prehistoric Wolverine can be a pain. Watch out when you hit him with
Freeze Cracker. He'll turn into an ice cube and can possibly slide around the
floor. You also have to be careful of his claws. They have a longer range
than you might think.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   SPRING MAN'S STAGE                                                   >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hyperbolt: In the enormous room, head to the upper-left corner. There you'll
find a spring box a strange wall on the left. Jump up and down on
the box until the arrows are pointing towards the wall. The spring
pushes the wall out of the way. Head into the room to find the
Hyperbolt. Give this item to Auto in his shop.

----------
Spring Man
----------
Weakness: Slash Claw
Receive: Wild Coil

Easy attack pattern. Slash him and slide to dodge his two punches. Rinse
and repeat.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   SHADE MAN'S STAGE                                                    >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Energy Balancer: Defeat the pumpkin mini-boss by firing at the eyes of outer
shell. Before it explodes the robot crashes into the wall,
revealing a hidden passage. Move on, and you will eventually
come across a picture of Dr. Wily in a vampire costume. Have
Rush dig under the portrait to find the Energy Balancer. This
device automatically refills the weapon with the lowest
energy when you pick up a weapon capsule.

Proto Man: Before you go after Proto Man this time, make sure you've
encountered him in Cloud Man's and Turbo Man's stages. Defeat the
pumpkin mini-boss by firing at the center of it. Once you fall down
the gap head to the right and move through the wall to find a gate.
Enter it and duel with Proto Man. If you can manage to defeat him,
he'll fork over his Proto Shield.

------------------
Mini-Boss: Pumpkin
------------------
There's two ways to beat this mini-boss. You can either shoot the eyes of
the outer shell or attack the "core" of the pumpkin. Either way, you'll end up
at Shade Man.

---------
Shade Man
---------
Weakness: Wild Coil
Receive: Noise Crush

Shade Man's divebombing routine is where he'll really get ya. Just slide
when he begins to move. You should be able to stay safely away from him. If
you wish to finish this battle quicker, charge up the Wild Coil and use it
that way.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   TURBO MAN'S STAGE                                                    >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Proto Man: When you climb up the large ladder in the stage's early area,
there's a hidden room. Right before you reach the very top, fall
down and hug the right wall. You should move through the wall.
Proto Man appears and gives more advice.

Big Bolt: Right after that ladder sequence up above, there's a blue square
with an X in it. Use Rush Search right on top of it. Rush should
bark and dig up an usually large bolt. This item counts as 100
bolts. You can only find this once per stage visit.

---------
Turbo Man
---------
Weakness: Noise Crush
Receive: Scorch Wheel

Amplify the Noise Crush and use that against Turbo Man. You can take him out
in five shots.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   DR. WILY'S FORTRESS PART I                                           >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
As it turns out, Bass and Treble were actually made by Dr. Wily. And now
that they have stolen some of Light's enhancements, they'll be using them
against you.

---------------
Mini-Boss: Bass
---------------
Bass's attack pattern is just jumping around and blasting randomly. I would
suggest using the Super Adaptor's punch attack.

------------------
Return of Guts Man
------------------
Weakness: Super Adaptor

While the Super Adaptor might not be the most effective weapon, it's
probably the safest to use. His weak point is his head. So just pummel Guts
Man there and use the Adaptor's thrust to dodge most of his attacks. If things
get tough, use an E-Tank.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   DR. WILY'S FORTRESS PART II                                          >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
------------------------
Mini-Boss: Bass & Treble
------------------------
Bass decides to make use of his own Super Adaptor enhancement. Do the same
and punch his lights out. Keep in mind that because of those fans on the floor
you won't fall at the same speed you usually do. This can make dodging attacks
a tad more difficult.

------
Turtle
------
Weakness: Wild Coil

Once you learn how the turtle attacks, the difficulty isn't too bad. When
the baby turtles come out, switch to the Super Adaptor to take 'em out in one
hit. Then continue on with the Wild Coil. This battle takes a lot of time to
complete.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   DR. WILY'S FORTRESS PART III                                         >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
--------------
Japanese Robot
--------------
Weakness: Slash Claw or Noise Crush

This battle takes place in an endless room, so you must keep moving! Two
weapons work fairly well against it. I find it easier to damage it using the
Slash Claw since it is not necessary to use the rockets to actually make the
attack connect.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   STAGE SELECT                                                         >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Before you progress to the next stage, go to Auto's Shop and buy all the
items you can possibly have. If you need bolts, check out the tip in the
Secrets section. Trust me, you WILL need anything and everything to beat
Wily's final form.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   DR. WILY'S FORTRESS PART IV                                          >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If you played other Mega Man games, you know the drill. Enter the teleporter
room and defeat the eight Robot Masters again.

------------
Skull Walker
------------
Weakness: Thunder Bolt

The walker's weak point is the eye with Wily in it. You'll need to do a lot
of sliding, so put that Super Adaptor away. Shoot the eye with Thunder Bolt
and attack the mini-walkers with Slash Claw. You might need to use a W-Tank
or two if weapon energy runs low. This battle will take a while.

------
Saucer
------
Weakness: Wild Coil or Freeze Cracker

Wily has an evil grin on his face and for good reason: Capcom REALLY upped
the ante for the final fight! Beating his final form takes luck, as dodging
his attacks are nearly impossible. Don't even bother using your Mega Buster--
only the charge shot works and that only takes off one notch. If Wily's ship
is low enough, hit with a charged Wild Coil. Otherwise attack with Freeze
Cracker. Good luck...you'll need it...

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   EASY BOLTS                                                           >>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Here's a trick to collect several bolts with little effort. At the beginning
of the Air Man-esque area of Cloud Man's stage, a bird flies in and drops a
large egg that releases several birdies. As soon as the egg opens up, fire a
charge Mega Buster shot. This destroys all of the little robots and leaves a
bunch of bolts for you. Repeat this process until you have 999 bolts, or
become mentally unstable.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
<<<   HIDDEN BGM                                                           >>>

If you haven't beaten Shade Man already, here's a secret you can do. Hold

classic Super Ghouls 'n Ghost, also for the SNES.
