3. Offensive Strengths

The Redskins created instant offense by acquiring explosive running back Clinton
Portis from Denver and veteran quarterback Mark Brunell. Brunell is a great
quarterback but also has some age on him and it wouldn’t be odd to see young
quarterback Patrick Ramsey out on the field this year. At the very least Brunell
could be an awesome backup for Ramsey.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Offensive Weaknesses
The Redskins have added talent at key positions in the backfield, but the team
still must address a lack of depth along the offensive line. The team drafted
two offensive tackles in late rounds, but they may not even make the team, and
the only arrival via free agency is center Cory Raymer. Portis’ numbers
(and Ramsey’s health) will suffer if the Redskins have injuries up front.
5. Defensive Strengths
"Strengths" might be too stong a word for a defense that's being completely
revamped. The Redskins are adding much-needed depth to the defensive line with
defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin and defensive end Phillip Daniels
(both likely starters) Free-agent linebacker Marcus Washington joins linebacker
LaVar Arrington. Together the two will add some intensity to the pass rush.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6. Defensive Weaknesses

It's to soon to tell how much Gibbs' strategy on the defense will work. The
Redskins cleaned some house in the offseason dropping a great linebacker like
Jeremiah Trotter, Jesse Armstead, and defensive end Bruce Smith. The departure
of Champ Bailey means that the team no longer has the strong secondary that they
had before. Overall, the Redskins have holes that need filling everywhere.

9. Key Offensive Plays

I Form Normal - PA FB Streak
This will put a bug in the defense's ear that they should cover Portis out of the
backfield on just about every play. Portis weaves his way through traffic
through the line and should be open for a decent gain. If he's covered or gets
bottled, up throw to Coles. Look for the mismatch or the single coverage if he
is covered to hit the open receiver.

Singleback 4WR - HB Wheel
This play will once again showcase Clinton Portis' hands as a receiver out of
the backfield. When the ball is snapped he will make his way through the line
and do a wheel route. Try hitting him in stride for best results. With Portis'
speed you could make quick work of the defense and put the game away early using
this play.

Singleback Big - HB Slam
Since you have one of the best backs in the NFL, you might as well put him to
good use running the ball. This play isn't designed to pick up huge  yardage,
but it does make a strong statement. Running the ball down the defense's
throat using Portis will allow you to domintate the line or take some precious
time off the clock. This is also an outstanding short yardage play.

10. Key Defensive Plays

4-3 Normal - Double Z
This play puts pressure on the QB and receivers. With the quality of the
Redskins' defensive front fout, you should have no trouble sacking the QB if you
execute well. If you move a middle linebacker to the right and swing him around
the tackle, you might find either the ball-carrier or a clean romp to the
quarterback. But be careful, this leaves the CB's to defend alone.

3-4 Normal - DBL TE Bracket
This defensive play is designed to contain the tight end and stop things from
developing in the middle of the field. It's even decent for stopping the run,
but you had better have your wits about you. LaVar Arrington is on a mission
to stop the offensive team from converting.

4-3 Normal - Mid Rush
This one allows the defensive front four to head for the QB. It's perfect when
the offense is in a must-pass situation and has to get long yardage to pick up
the first down. The outside receivers will be covered and the Redskins defensive
front will take care of the middle if the offense tries a draw or an off-tackle
play. The middle linebacker should take care of the short passes in the middle
of the field.

11. Help Playing With The Redskins

If you are in a single game, start Brunell. If you are in a franchise scroll
down a bit to my franchise tips. You want to bring in a steady blocker at tight
end to aid Clinton Portis' running game. You may want to pick one up in free
agency if there are any available. Send multiple blitzes with the strong
linebacker core to pressure the quarterback and hurt the other teams running
game.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
12. Help Playing Against The Redskins
First and formost be sure to pressure the line by sending a lot of blitzing.
There is no doubt that they are not the best in the league. Bring up a safety
closer to the line of scrimmage to spy on Clinton Portis since he is a huge
threat on offense. Please stay away from LaVar Arrington on offense. Run to the
other side of the field and if you are forced to scramble try scrambling the
other direction.
13. SilverChaosVII's Franchise Tips
* Start Patrick Ramsey as QB, he is young and has much to improve on
* Consider picking up a new tight end in free agency
* If you can't find one start Brian Kozlowski
* After your first year forget about everything but upgrading the o-line
* Blitz a lot, you need to pick up turnovers on defense
* Also look into picking up the d-line
* Start DT Haley over Noble
* This team has a lot of room for improvement, it'll be tough to bring them up
