Final Fantasy : Crystal Chronicles is a Square-Enix product produced soley on
the Nintendo GameCube.  This game has compatability for the Nintendo Gameboy
Advance and the Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP but we'll go into those features
more in depth later in the guide.

II.) Introduction (FFCC2)
=========================

I guess I should take the time to introduce myself to you all at the moment.
Most FAQ/Walkthrough writers refrain from doing this, but I'll inform you that
I got this game just a few days ago when it was initially released in the USA.
Since I got it I've been playing nearly nonstop on a rampage in order to
finish this FAQ and bring it to all of you to assist you in getting through
the game as well as to help clear up a little bit of the continual threads
being posted on the GFAQs boards that could easily be summed up in one post or
simply through a FAQ/Walkthrough specifically written for the US Version of
the game, instead of having played the Japanese game and simply done my best
to translate it from Japanese into English.  That's my goal, to give you the
best FAQ that you can possibly have on GFAQs for this particular game in
English!!

III.) My Review of the Game (FFCC3)
===================================

Ok, at the moment, until I fully decide to put up a final review for the now,
this is simply going to be my initial impressions.  Alright initially I did
not think that I was going to be able to enjoy this game, the graphics brought
me the exact same impressions that FFIX did initially, however, I decided that
I would sit down and give the game a chance.  So far I have been dumbfounded
by the graphics in game play, as well as the fact that instead of having a
rather choppy sound score as I thought Square-Enix may take a lax on Nintendo,
especially in the Soundtrack department, however, I was not disappointed, the
sounds all fit in my ears, they fit perfectly, the graphics aren't a let down.
I love the way that I can go into my menus and not effect any other player or
their ability to continue tearing through the game while I change my command
lists.  In my eyes, right now, this game sits on a 9/10.  The only thing they
could have done better at the moment to me, is to have laid a few more easter
eggs in there.  But I'm sure that there are quite a few knowing Square-Enix
and we'll probably simply come across them in time.

IV.) General Questions and their Answers (THE FAQ!!) (FFCC4)
============================================================

This will hopefully clean up the board a bit, as most of these questions are
taken directly from the gamefaqs Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles message
board.

Q.)Do I have to use a GBA to play in Multiplayer?
A.)This question has to be the most of the redundant ones.  The answer is
simply yes.  You have to use a GBA to play in Multiplayer.  Every time I see
someone trying to explain how to do it without a GBA I want to be sick, it's
simply not cost efficient enough to be worth the time and effort.  If you
want to play with your friends, just go out and buy a GBA and a link cable and
be done with it.

Q.)Which tribe should I pick?  Help me?!
A.)These are just as bad.  I hate it when people say "Pick one that matches
your style, don't pick one for their looks!"  Well, the thing is, that with
the way you can play the game out, I would actually suggest that you choose
the one that you think looks the coolest.  As if you truly wanted to, you
could make a Yuke just as physically powerful as a Liltie could be.  It just
takes time.  In the end, the tribe choice simply effects what you are best
suited for early in the game as well as your look.

Q.)How do I level up?
A.)You don't actually level up per say.  You increase your stats, this is done
every single time you choose an artifact after defeating the boss at the end
of the dungeon.  Over time, nearly every character reaches a level plane
simply through gaining artifacts and choosing ones to make their character
more balanced.

Q.)How many years are in this game?
A.)Ok, this is the iffy area.  To get the full experience of the game, it
takes 8 years of gameplay.  In order to get maximum stats for your character
it takes much longer as you have to get one of each artifact in order to
acheive this status.

Q.)Why should I bother sending 'decent' letters to my family?
A.)Because they'll give you free stuff as their production levels, or for
the ones that sell armor and such, they'll give you a price reduction on
items that you purchase from them.  A general rule of thumb is that you
should always send items back to your family members.  I will better cover
what you should send to what family job when I cover the jobs in the same
section that I cover the tribes in.  Check there if you want to raise your
family's production levels or get a better price cut.

Q.)Can I quit the game?
A.)As in get back to the loading screen where you select new game or load
game?  As far as anyone can tell at the moment, the best thing to do is just
reset the game, as no one has found a way to yet.

Q.)I found something wrong with your FAQ?
A.)Then email me what and where it is, and I'll read it over.  If I find your
fix to be helpful or a fix to an error that I have, I'll rewrite that segment
with the new information and I'll give you credit where it is due.

Q.)I want to help!
A.)Not really a question, but I've had a few people ask this.  If you wish to
help out with the FAQ then simply email me and I'll see if the information you
give me would be helpful or not.  As with finding things wrong, if I find it
to be helpful, then I'll be sure to append it into the Guide and also give you
credit where you have earned it.

Q.)Why is Mog moving so slow?
A.)Because he told you he's tired.  When Mog tells you that he's tired, you
should have him drop the chalice and carry it for him for a bit.  After awhile
he'll ask you to let him carry the chalice.  This gives Mog a chance to rest,
which makes it so that he won't slow down to a groggy pace and get you all
angry at the game.

VI.)Status Inductions, both the Positive and the Negative! (FFCC6)
==================================================================

Wow, here's where we find out just how messed up you can possibly get in the
world of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

Alright we'll cover the positive buffs first.

--------
Positive
--------
Haste - Speeds up your character's movements as well as charging times for
casting spells as well as focusing attacks.

That's it, that's all the positive buffs, amazing I know!

--------
Negative
--------
Poisoned - You'll notice a green ring of spheres around your head, you'll
gradually lose HP until the effects wear off, or until someone casts clear
on you.  Generally you'll lose about 3 hearts worth of HP before the effects
wear off.

Shocked/Paralyzed - You'll notice an electrical field of sorts around your
character.  You'll be paralyzed either until someone casts clear on you or
until you shake off the effects.  To shake off paralysis move the control
stick back and forth.

Slowed - You'll notice a purplish mist around your character's body.  This
will slow down your movement speeds until the effects wear off or until
someone casts clear or haste on you.

Petrified - Stoned!  Sorry, had to do it, your character is turned into a
statue while under this status.  You can't move, attack, or do anything!
You have to wait for someone to cast clear on you, or until the status wears
off.

Stunned - Essentially the same as being Paralyzed, only it usually happens
when a huge monster, attacks you by slamming its body ontop of you.  This one
doesn't get fixed by casting clear, you have to wait this one out and hope
that you don't get killed in that time.

Burning - This generally happens when an enemy sucessfully casts a flame type
spell on you.  You'll burn for a bit, but it doesn't last long, so don't
bother casting clear to stop it.

Frozen - Obviously you're going to be frozen, and not moving while under
this.  If something hits you while you're frozen, you'll take double-damage.
To recover, you can either have someone cast clear on you or you can once
again wiggle the control stick back and forth until you're unfrozen.

Curse - Being cursed, is terrible, you might as well be dead, cause you'll be
there pretty quick under this status effect.  If you fall under this, pray
for clear as this will drop your strength, defense, and magic all by half.

Dead - W00t!! The best one out of all of them.  You're dead, in Single Player,
this will usually net you the Retry/Load Game screen, however, in Multiplayer,
you can still run around, and you can wave at people until someone either
casts life on you, or uses a phoenix down on you.  A better method of
protecting yourself from this status is to use a peice of your command list
strictly for Phoenix Downs, as they'll instatly revive you from Death status
as long as you have them equipped.

Miasma Poison - This really isn't a status that Square or Nintendo recognizes.
However, I felt that since it occurs, that it should be included.  If you step
outside of the protective circle that the chalice provides, you will notice
that there's a green fluidlike water splashing around infront of you, that's
the actual miasma.  After a moment or two, pending on your character's
resistance to miasma poisoning, you will start to gradually lose life until
you step back within the protective circle for the Chalice.

VII.) Tribes and Parental Jobs (FFCC7)
======================================

Now into the meat and potatoes of choosing just what you're going to be and
what you're going to look at.  Now I know that many of you have trouble
deciding what you're going to use for a name, but I know that most people are
already complaining that they don't know what to be as far as tribes go.  Here
I will not only list what the Instruction manual says about each one, but I
will also give my personal thoughts on them.  Take into account that there are
8 different looks for each of the tribes.  Four male, and four female.

Clavats
-------
Manual - A gentle people that value harmony above all.  Many of Tipa's
residents belong to this tribe of unity and friendship.  They are gentle by
nature and dislike conflict.  When disputes arise, they do whatever they can
to resolve them.  It is said that an air of tranquility follows them wherever
they go.
Personal Thoughts - Very well balanced early on.  They use swords, and they're
quick frankly the only race that can use sheilds, but everyone else has
something to gain from it.   At first I liked them because they look well
balanced, and didn't look as stupid as I believed they all would.  Origionally
I thought they would all have that stupid cowlick look to them and I would
forever hate their entire race.

Starting Attack - 21
Starting Defense - 24

Selkies
-------

Manual - Independant people who put themselves first.  These rugged
individualists clothe themselves in fur decorated with stolen goods.  Unlike
other tribes, they believe in putting themselves first.  Many Selkies are
agile and athletic, traits they put to good use as thieves.  Though the other
tribes tend to scorn them, some Selkies now reside in Clavatian villages.
Personal Thoughts - They look cool, they have a faster charge on their focus
attack than any other tribe.  Their only drawback to me was that instead of
using something like daggers, which is what I expected from Square-Enix for a
tribe of theives.....they use Rackets.....rackets.  I was all like "WHAT?!"
but after actually trying them out, they're not so bad if you can get past
that fact and really immense yourself in the fact that you can use satanically
quick focus attacks, move away, and do it again.

Yukes
-----

Manual - A mysterious tribe of great lore and wisdom.  Many of these sages
live quietly in Shella.  In the ancient wars, they were able to resist the
invading Liltian armies thanks to their magical prowess.  Now they spend
their days teaching magic to others.  Some say that Yukes assumed their
current form to augment their magical talents.  They are a mysterious people
indeed.
Personal Thoughts - Wow...I could not at first get over how incredibly stupid
I thought that this tribe looked.  It was so hard for me at first to even
begin to imagine playing as a tribe this strange looking.  But then I said hey
I have to do it sooner or later, so I gave them a test run.  They're very very
frail early on and can easily be bashed into peices by enemies if you're not
careful.  I had to get used to that early, however, once you realize how much
faster their charge on magic is, it begins to make up for itself very quickly.
For me, the big thing with these guys was that they can work very viably in
multiplayer as a strict healer when needed.

Lilties
-------

Manual - A proud warrior tribe with infamously short tempers.  These little
warriors have lived all over the world since ancient times.  Long ago, they
ruled the world, and many still believe themselves superior to others.
Though they can be hotheaded, they are also confident and down-to-earth.
Liltian merchants are some of the best around.
Personal Thoughts - They're small, which pushes people away from them, and
their weapon of preference is a spear.  They start out as the most powerful
of all the tribes.  These are basically sick little twisted mongrels who live
for nothing but to destroy.  I love these guys.  For me, the biggest thing was
getting past the fact that it looked like my guy had an onion for a head.

Blacksmith
----------

Description - The blacksmith as a parent will make the blacksmith available
in Tipa.  Once you've got this and start raising their production level then
they will bein to gain the ability to craft better and better weapons and
armor.

Early - Nove Weapon, Warrior's Weapon, Bronze Armor, Iron Armor, Iron Shield,
Bronze Gloves, Iron Gloves, Bronze Belt, Iron Belt.
Level 1 - Master's Weapon, Mythril Shield, Mythril Gloves, Mythril Sallet,
Mythril Belt.
Level 2 - Legendary Weapon, Diamond Armor, Diamond Gloves, Diamond Sallet,
Diamond Belt.
Level 3 - Greatest Weapon

Tailor
------

Description - The tailor as a parent opens up the tailor shop in Tipa.  It
makes.  This allows you to have accessories created by the tailor provided
that you raise his production level to allow him to make much better
accessories.

Early - Flame Craft, Frost Craft, Lightning Craft, Clockwork.
Level 1 - New Clockwork, Blue Yarn, Tome of Wisdom, Tome of Speed, Fiend Kit,
Faerie Kit, Eyewear Techniques, Goggle Techniques.
Level 2 - White Yarn, Gold Craft, Secrets of Wisdom, Secrets of Speed,
Deamon Kit, Angel Kit, Designer Glasses, Designer Goggles.
Level 3 - Ring of Invincibility

Farmer
------

Description -These are the general field workers of Tipa.  If you select your
parent to do this job, you won't get the benefit of a discount like certain
others.  But you will instead get free gifts pending on how well you treat
your relatives.

If you send your family a wheat seed, they'll give you a loaf of Bannock
Bread that year after you fill the chalice.  Two years afterwards, your
family will begin to give you bundles of wheat.

Rancher
-------

Description - Once you select this as your family, the ranch will be in Tipa.
Like the Farmer family you won't enjoy the benefits of a discout, however,
you will enjoy the benefit of free healing items over time.

The rancher as a family will give you a slice of meat each year for the first
two years.  Starting on the third year, they'll begin to give you bottles of
milk.  Once you gain access to the fields of Fum I would suggest sending him
a cow to increase his production a bit more ~_^

Miller
------

Description - The miller as a family is similar to the Farmer in the sence
that he loves getting seeds.  The thing that sets them apart is that he loves
getting wheat seeds, HINT HINT!!!

Once you send him a wheat seed, he'll give you a loaf of bread.  Two years
later, they'll start giving you bags of flour.

Fisherman
---------

Description - The fisherman is a bit different in the sence of giving.  As a
father, it's based on production like the others, however he always gives you
fish.  The only thing that varies is the amount of fish, which depends on his
production levels.

Merchant
--------

Description - Back to the discount families, selecting merchant for family,
well, yep you guessed it, opens up the merchant shop for use.  As you raise
their production level, they get better equipment available to them.

Early - Meat, Bronze, Alloy, Fish, Milk, Iron, Spring Water
Level 1 - Mythril, Gold, Silver, Bronze Shard, Iron Shard
Level 2 - Magma Rock, Chilly Gel, Thunderball
Level 3 - Ultimite, Dark Sphere

Alchemist
---------

Description - Another profession based family that will give you a discount.
This job works a little differently however, based upon his production level,
he will give you item scrolls (1 a year).  He has 12 levels of production.

Level 1 - Iron Armor
Level 2 - Warrior's Weapon
Level 3 - Flame Armor
Level 4 - Clockwork
Level 5 - Mythril Armor
Level 6 - Frost Craft
Level 7 - Lightning Craft
Level 8 - Master's Weapon
Level 9 - Ring of Light
Level 10 - Diamond Armor
Level 11 - Ring of Invincibiltiy
Level 12 - Greatest Weapon


Whew....that sums that portion up, now we have to cover the Discount and
Family Production levels.  This determines what kind of discount you get, if
any at all.  This is based upon how you reply to letters sent by family
members as well as items or gil that you send back.  I'll tell you how each
facial expression corellates.

:(( *Angry Face* - Full price, no discount for you!
:( *Sad Face* - Full Price, no discount for you!
:| *Indifferent Face* - You'll be getting a 30% discount from the family.
:) *Smiley Face* - You'll get a 55% Discount.
:D *Laughing Face* - You must be doing something good, cause you're getting
65% off the news stand price baby!  *Sorry bout that outburst >.<*

VIII.) Differences in Single Player and Multiplayer (FFCC8)
===========================================================

This can be a royal pain in the you know what, but it's gotta be done.
Now I'm going to cover what differences are in Multiplayer and
single player.  First off we'll cover the number of people in your
party between the two.

Party Number
------------
In single-player it'll just be you and Mog, your moogle.  I may as
well cover how carrying the chalice with Mog goes now as it'll be asked a
dozen times over if I don't.  Alright just go to the chalice with Mog near
you and hit the X button.  Once you do that, Mog'll pick up the Chalice
and he'll follow you with it.  Makes it easy as pie.  However, you'll
probably notice that after awhile Mog will say "I'm tired Kupo!".  When he
does this you should hit X, to have him drop the chalice, and carry it for
awhile for him.  After a bit of carrying it, about a minute or so, he'll
say "Let me help Kupo!" and he'll be more than happy to carry the chalice
once again.  This makes it much easier.

In Multi-Player it'll be you and how every many players you have in your
group (4 Maximum).  This can be a double-edged sword.  One, you'll be able
to tear bosses apart at anywhere between 2-4 times faster than previously.
On the backhand, if you have allies that don't agree with eachother, you'll
end up noticing that no one will probably want to carry the chalice and you'll
all be fighting over who gets what spoils.  If you have 2-4 players that are
all on the same page, then you'll be good to go and you guys will rip anything
that dares cross your caravan to pieces.

Secret Bonus
------------
Your secret bonus for the dungeon appears on your GBA when playing.  The score
you get on your secret bonus determines what artifact set the boss of the
dungeon will have available for choosing.  In single-player you will only be
worrying about this if you're actually trying to maximize your stats.  The
casual gamer will probably not have to worry about this at all.

Once again in multiplayer, this is where things become problematic.  Whoever
has the highest score on their secret bonus will get to choose their artifact
of the spoils first.  Generally if you're all getting along, and you're all
going for completely different stats as you're all filling different positions
you'll probably be telling everyone what yours is.  However, most parties that
have disagreement issues, generally run into them here as they'll all want to
know what eachother's are, but they won't want to tell their own to everyone
else.

Stamp Card
----------
In single-player, this is the stamp card where you'll be going into Mog Houses
for.  Once you match all the stamps of a set together, then you'll have opened
up Caravan Racing, which is a multiplayer Mario-Kartish racing game.  Where
you get the stamps for this is also the same place where you'll wash, paint,
or cut Mog's fur.  In multi-player, you don't get to worry about the Stamp
Card.  Just go in single-player if you're really worried about the Stamp Card.

Radar Screens
-------------
In Single-Player you'll only have a radar if you have a GBA connected into the
second player slot.  If you meet these requirements you'll notice that you
have your radar on the GBA screen.  Your radar will vary pending on what color
you have sprayed your moogle's belly.  Some people asked if they make a multi
colored moogle will it give a random screen pending on what colors.  The answer
is simply no.  The radar screen will then be dependant on what color has the
highest percentage rate.  In Multi-player each player will have a different
radar.  First player generally will have the monster radar, second player will
have the terrain radar and so on.

Spell Casting
-------------
For normal spells, you'll notice no difference for Fire/Cure/Blizzard/Thunder/
Life and things like that.  But the Fira/Blizzara/Thundara, you'll notice that
there is a difference.  In all honesty this was where I ran into trouble in
writing this as I didn't know exactly how to put spellcasting into words for
people.  For single-player it's easy.  Either you can fuse two spells together
by combining them in the action menu, or you can time your spellcast to occur
at the exact same time as Mogs and the next level of spell will occur.  For
Multi-Player however, it's much much more different and it showed.  Zauron of
the GameFAQs messageboards however put this into better words than I think I
ever could have for multi-player extra level spellcasting.  So without further
ado, I give you Zauron's spellcasting Guide!

For Multiple-cast what you do is once the targeting circles touch they flash
briefly to indicate they are in range to be used for a fusion spell.  They
don't have to be directly overlapped, just close enough to flash.  At that
point, the first person releases their button and they make a BLINK noise and
a colored circle appears at the caster's feet.  If the BLINK noise and colored
circle don't happen, it means that the spells that are overlapping cannot make
a fusion spell.

Here's the spells and timings, they aren't hard to remember for easy ones:

Quick Cast Spells: To do these, you can either all release at the same time OR
one person releases (BLINK's) and then everyone else releases within 1/3rd of
a second (Practically instantaniously).  These spells only require 2 people,
but a 3rd or 4th person all add additional damage and area of effect to the
spell (Indicated by the spells in [] brackets).  An easy way to do these is
to say that as soon as the last person's targeting cursor overlaps the rest
and makes them flash, we all let go of the button.

Fira - Fire+Fire[+Fire+Fire]
Thundara - Thunder+Thunder[+Thunder+Thunder]
Blizzara - Blizzard+Blizzard[+Blizzard+Blizzard]
Curaga - Cure+Cure (Additional does no good as it already heals for full HP
and covers the entire screen of allies =))
Clearaga - Clear+Clear (Clears status of everyone so additional is useless)
Gravity - Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+A different Element of Fire/Blizzard/Thunder
Holy - Life+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder

Small Casting Delay Spells: To do these, the first person releases and then
everyone else waits 1/2 a second, then they ALL release.

Haste - Life+Cure+Cure
Hastaga - Life+Cure+Cure+Cure
Slow - Life+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder
Slowga - Life+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder
Full-Life - Life+Life

(Notice how the only difference between Slow and Holy is that Slow has a 1/2
second delay after the first cast, and Holy should have everyone release all
at the same time.)

1-2-3 Spells: These spells are done by the first person releasing, then the
second person a 1/3rd of a second later, then the third person casts 1/3rd of
a second from the second person's cast, and so on with the 4th.  So it's a
BLINK-BLINK-BLINK-BAM! Cast.  Harder to pull off because of the fast paced
casting of spells.

Graviyra - Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+A different Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+Fire/
Blizzard/Thunder[+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder]
Holyra - Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+Life+Life[+Life]

Long Delay Spells: These are the big spells that damage a lot of enemies.  The
first player releases, then the second player releases an entire second later
(just before the first person's BLINK effect is about to wear off from waiting
too long).  Any of these can be done with just 2 people.  If a third or fourth
person wants to join in, the third must wait an entire second after the 2nd
person, and the last person must wait an entire second after the 3rd person.
So it would look like BLINK.....BLINK..BAM!

Stop - Life+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder+Fire/Blizzard/Thunder

Notice how Stop is the exact same as Slowga except for the timing aspect.  It
makes sence that because it is more difficult to pull off that it would have a
greater effect.

Yes I know this was very long but when you see the pattern, it will all begin
to make perfect sence and be easier for you to memorize the important ones
like quick casts and the -aga spells.

Oh, and combining magic with force attacks, just overlap the force circle and
the Fire/Thunder/Ice circle, let the spell caster release first and then the
melee attacker lets go immediately as soon as he sees the caster's BLINK.

IX.) The Walkthrough (Where to go when!) (FFCC9)
================================================

W00t!  Time now for the actual Walkthrough Segment.  How I'm going to cover
this is like so.  Since you don't actually have to go to some of the areas
in the method in which I suggest, what I will do is cover it map by map as I
went into them on my journey through Crystal Chronicles.  First I'll tell you
the name of the map, give a list of monsters that will be there, and what
cycles of the area they will appear in.  Then I will walk you through
navigating your way through the area, as well as getting every single treasure
chest inside of the location.  Once we have gotten all the chests, I will walk
you through getting to the mog house for the selected areas, as well as where
the selected hidden item is for the map, then we will walk through to the boss
and give a brief synopsis on fighting him for the first time and what artifact
sets that he may drop.

A.) Setting Out
---------------

Now that we're finally on to the walkthrough itself.  I have to let you know
the assumptions that are being made for this walkthrough.  1.)You're playing
singleplayer.  If you're playing Multiplayer, then things will merely become
easier than they already will be.  And 2.)You at least have a grip on the
controls.  If you don't have a grip on the controls, then view the section on
control features and learn them well before you get completely lost in that
part in itself.  Now we'll actually start.  First seelct "New Game" if you're
playing from an old save, then just skip ahead to that particular segment.
Once you've selected New Game it's going to ask you if you're playing Single
Player or Multiplayer.  For now just select "SinglePlayer".  Once you've done
this the Intro Movie will play, it's around 3 minutes long, so just sit back
and enjoy this video.  Once this is done playing, it will ask you to enter a
name for your village.  By default the game names the town "Tipa", you can
change this if you wish, but for our purposes we will assume that the town has
been left with its default name.  Once this is done, the first page of the
diary will display.  If you wish to know what it says, check the Diary Log in
section X.  I'll let you know when every single diary entry occured for me so
that you can follow along, given that most are random, but the ones that are
set in stone on occurence, you will be able to follow along with.  Once you
have been satisfied with reading the first page of your Diary hit the B button
to go back to your list option, and select Save Game.  I would suggest saving
your game now in case of any freak accidents!  Once you have saved your game
select "Set Out" it will bring up the Caravan Member list.  Just pick one of
the slots as they should all be empty anyways.  Once you have done this it
will first ask you to name your character.  You can have up to 7 characters,
so just pop that baby in, and hit OK to continue.  Now it will ask you for
your sex, your options are Male or Female!  Pick which you are or want to be
for ones of us who are unsure about themselves! (J/K!!)  Once you have done
this the next question appears asking you for your Tribe.  Choose the one that
you think looks the best, as like I've said before, your stats will be more
likely than not the same anyways!!  After this you'll choose the look for your
tribe, then your families occupation.  Then you'll finally accept the choices.
Now, you'll get to watch your character's farewells to their family as they
finally begin to set out!

Tipa, Hidden Item and Moogle Stamp
----------------------------------

Finally you have control of the caravan.  BUT!,
before you go anywhere go back into Tipa!  We've got an item to get as well as
a Memory!  Once you're in the village head to the Crystal that protects the
village.  If you circle round the very back of the crystal, the option to
examine will appear.  Do so and you will be able to enter your first Moogle
House.  Once inside, talk to the Moogle and he will explain how the Moogle
Stamp Card works.  He'll also give you your first stamp.  Once you exit the
Moogle House, you will be informed that you have received your first memory!
Now, time to get that Item, head up to the VERY VERY Northmost tip of town.
To do this, from the town square head West, following the path, once the path
diverges into two directions, head North.  At the very top of the hill there
is a single little area that will allow you to examine.  Do so, and you will
gain a hidden item!  Now, leave Tipa and lead the Caravan North!

On the Road!!  Training with Stiltzkin
--------------------------------------

When you move the Caravan North you will be stopped by Sol Racht and his
group.  He will talk to you for a bit before calling for Stiltzkin to begin
instructing you.  If you're completely new to the game, or just wish to review
some points, take Stiltzkin up on the offer to teach you.  Otherwise continue
on and you will head East into the "River Belle Path"  By the way, the
encounter with Sol Racht and Stiltzkin will be credited as a memory =)  Now
get ready for your first dungeon!!

Alright, first off I'll explain Cycles right now.  This is something that gets
argued on the message boards alot.  Ok, everyone thinks that a Cycle is a
year.  Well it's not!  So stop arguing it!  A cycle works like this.  The
Myrrh is restored back to the trees 2 years after it has been drawn.  When the
trees Myrrh is restored, that area is then advanced by one cycle.  And thus
the cycles begin!

First customize your command menu.  Once you've done that you will get to
experience the most straightforward dungeon ever created by Square-Enix, save
Garland's Castle from Final Fantasy I.

First things first, let's go get 'em!  Alright head Northeast to activate this
side of the bridge, this isn't really necessary though as the bridge is only
useful if you plan on running away later on down the road.  In order to
activate the bridge you have to first place the chalace on one of the switches
then go place yourself on the other.  Once you have done this, backtrack and
head North.  Monsters here are easily killed, but then again, most of the
monsters in the game are that way lol, so just head North till you reach a
gate.  Don't head through the gate yet, once you see the gate, head southeast
from here.  You'll run into Chest #1, inside Chest #1 is a Cure stone.  Kill
the Goblin that gaurds the gate to get the key to the cup.  Place it in and
the gate will open up for you, allowing you to continue.  From the other side
of the gate, head directly east to find Chest #2 which holds the design for a
Bronze Belt.  From this chest head South along the beach, following this will
also lead you to the other side of the bridge, activate it if you wish, else
head east following the path, head north when you can again, and you'll run
into chest #3, this one contains an artifact.  The Moogle House is just along
the north wall in this area.  Drop in and get your Mog Stamp.  Once you've
done that, you're going to want to backtrack all the way back to Chest #2's
location and head north through the gate there.  Once you've gone through the
gate head north along the east wall to grab treasure chest #4, which contains
a design for a novice level weapon.  Once you've done that, head back to the
entrance to this alcove, once here you should see another alcove just west of
this one.  Head north into this alcove to secure chest #5, which contains the
plans for a Bronze Sallet.  Head back from here just to the entrance of this
alcove and head West.  Heading west will lead you to a broken bridge, don't
worry you can cross this bridge.  Halfway across the bridge you may take
notice to chest #6, which lies on a beach to the north.  Just head up to it,
it holds a Life stone.  Head back to the bridge and exit it south this time,
follow the bridge till you can head north.  Once you can head north, follow
the west wall, this will lead you to chest #7, which contains the plans for
Bronze Armor.  Once you've grabbed this, head east, across a bridge.  Directly
after you cross this bridge, head north along the beach to get to the first
boss of the game.

GIANT CRAB : Time for your first boss.  I think Square-Enix did an excellent
job giving a simple boss like this for the first one.  Simply run up and start
beating the living crap out of him.  Honestly this is the easiest way to deal
with him.  In this first form where has his claw and his shell he has three
attacks.  Only two of them actually damage you.  The first that actually
can harm you will hurt.  He jumps back and charges this attack, he'll pulse
purple before he shoots out a giant beam.  There's plenty of time to run, so
there should be no reason that you get hit by this attack.  His second attack
is his shell smash.  He lunges a bit, like 1/2 an inch in game feet, forward
and attempts to crush you with his shell.  He doesn't really hurt you too bad
with this attack, but it does stun you for a second.  His third attack is a
bubble shot.  He fires a single bubble at you, the bubble has a slight homing
ability, however if you make a sharp turn away from it, it won't be able to
hit you.  For the first bit of the fight, I suggest circling to his back and
striking him so that you can avoid the claw strike as that's his favorite move
for right now.  When you've cut him down to 2/3rds of his HP he loses his claw
and loses his claw attack as well as his Beam attack.  His only attacks then
are the bubble attack and the shell smash.  Now, you can pretty much circle to
his side and attack him as he'll have to turn a bit to attack you, so just
keep circling to hit him.  When he's down to 1/3rd of his HP his shell will
fall off.  This means it's your cue to beat the living crap out of this guy.
His only moves at this point are his bubble, and Thunder.  He takes a good
while to cast Thunder, so once you see his targeting circle, just move and
continue to beat up on him.  He shouldn't take too long to knock out.

Now that the Giant Crab is out of the way you get your first Drop of Myhrr for
the first year.  W00t only 2 more drops to go!  But first!  You get to reply
to your first letter!  Once you do this, you also get to choose your artifact,
then you'll get notification of your diary log, then you'll also get to go
back to the caravan.  Once you're back there I suggest doing the River Belle
Path a couple more times so that you can raise your stats.  Before you go to
the Miasma stream, head over to Tipa Port, run down south stairs and head into
the cave in order to get yet another Moogle Stamp!  =)

Through The Miasma Stream for the First Time!
---------------------------------------------

Make sure that your chalice is set to have an elemental type of Water before
you even go over to this, or you won't be able to get through this.  Simply
walk through to the other side, that's it!  And you get a memory for this too!
Now we're first going to upgrade your equipment if you can.  So first head
North into Marr's Pass.  Once you're in Marr's pass, upgrade armor/weapons if
possible, then go west from the blacksmith, and head south as soon as you see
the wooden planks for stairs, head down, at the bottom is a Moogle House, go
collect your stamp.  Now on your way back out, on the west wall you'll see a
well, stop infront of it really quick and examine the ground for your second
hidden item.  Now then, head back to the Caravan, and we'll set out for the
Mushroom Forest.

Monsters: Ahriman (Always), Gremlin (Always), Hedgehog Pie (Always), Hell
Plant (Always), Tiny Worm (Always), Ice Ahriman (Cycles 2&3+), Ochu (Cycles
2&3+), Stone Plant (Cycles 2&3+), Carrion Worm (Cycles 3+), Dark Hedgehog
(Cycles 3+), Stone Hedgehog (Cycles 3+)

This place is a little confusing, but it's the shorter than the last dungeon.
For one, there are more monsters yes, however, let's get started.  Right from
the starting location head west, you'll notice that Chest #1 is right there!
All it's got inside of it is some Gil.  Follow the path to the Northwest from
here until you reach a northern wall.  From there head East until you reach
a Spring Mushroom, this mushroom will shoot you right over to the second
chest.  First kill the monster gaurding it, then claim the Artifact that Chest
#2 contained.  From here just head south along the path, continue following
the path until you see a spring mushroom, DO NOT TAKE THIS!  This mushroom
will take you back towards the entrance, so ignore it for now.  If you head
East from here however, you will find Chest #3, which holds another Artifact.
Once you've grabbed this chest, keep heading East, and hugging the south wall,
if you do this you'll run into Chest #4 which also holds an Artifact.  From
this chest, you're going to continue North until you hit the wall, then head
West following the North wall.  Along this wall you'll come up to another
Spring Mushroom.  This one will throw you right infront of the final Chest,
Chest #5, which holds another Artifact.  Once you've got this one, check the
right wall of this area to find the Moogle House for the area.  Once you've
done that, take the Spring Mushroom back to the path, continue following the
path to the West, and then North when it curves, this will take you to the
Boss of the area, Malboro!!!

Malboro: The Giant Crab was a pushover.  This one is the first boss that may
actually be a threat to you.  First off, kill the two Hell Plants that are
flanking Malboro right away, they can pick away at you if you don't.  You have
two options to fighting Malboro.  The first, is the harder of the two in my
opinion.  Attack Malboro, but when you have two hearts left, retreat and heal.
This method takes longer, and will more likely than not give the hell plants
time to revive, but will also give Malboro the room he needs to nail you with
his Tentacle Spike attack.  So this rules out this one as chances are he may
kill you while you've retreated to heal.  Now, for the second tactic, you're
going to either hate him or love killing him.  Charge Malboro, slash the crap
out of him.  Whenever you notice him hurl his head back for a split second,
run to the other side of his face, as he's going to use his tentacle spike.
If you circle to the other side of his face, you shouldn't get touched, ruling
this attack out as far as threats go!  The next attack he'll probably hit you
with is one that you can pretty much ignore as you're in so close anyways, and
we're not planning on running, which is Slow.  He'll cast this.  Note that
every time your health starts to get low, you should heal yourself just in
case of problems starting.  Malboro's final attack is his most patented, Bad
Breath.  This move will poison you, that's it.  That's everything you feared
from the previous Final Fantasy's all wrapped up in a beast.  Killing him is
not as bad as you would have thought.  Just keep on him and heal yourself, and
you should be good to go.

On the Road again!

Now you'll have your second drop, your second letter, and be back on the road.
W00t, head back to Marr's pass, head to the well, pick up another Hidden Item.
Once you've done that, upgrade your equipment again if possible, level up if
you would like to a little more, then we're off to the Mines of Cathuriges.

Mace Orc (Cycles 2&3+), Spear Orc (Cycles 2&3+), Thunder Bomb (Cycles 2&3+),
Wraith (Cycles 2&3+)

Welcome to the biggest dungeon yet!  I hope that you're ready, this one will
take a bit to get through.  First things first!  Hit the minecart until it
smashes through the first set of boxes.  Now, don't hit the cart again yet, or
we will have to go back to the begin back at the beginning of the level.
First head to the northeast corner of the room to get Chest #1, which holds
some Gil for you to collect.  Go back to the cart, step on the switch at the
top.  Once it is set, hit the minecart forward four times.  This should clear
the path as far as the cart goes for now.

Now, head East from where the minecart rests in order to find a Clear Stone in
Chest #2.  Now push the minecart forward ONE time.  This will set it in place.
Now step on the top switch to set the tracks, then push the cart forward
again.  Once you've done this you're going to want to clear this area out.
Heading to the Southwest corner of the room will allow you to get Chest #3,
which holds a Life Stone, track up to the Northwest corner of the room for
Chest #4, which holds some gil.  Once you've grabbed that one, head to the
Northeast Corner of the room for Chest #5, which holds a Cure Stone.  Head
through the path in the centermost north area of the room, you'll find an
Ogre, kill it and take the Key that it holds to the gate.  Pass through the
gate, and we're halfway there!

Now we're in the second half of this dungeon.  You'll notice that you're on a
narrow catwalk mine cart section.  Follow this path until you reach the first
open area.  This part of the dungeon is very straightforward, but I'll still
tell you where the chests are instead of searching for them =P.  Once you
reach the first open area head to the Northeast corner of this section and you
will see Chest #6 awaiting you!  It holds a Clear Stone.  Continue following
the path North and you'll come to the second area, which is home to Chest #7
which holds an artifact.  Head WEST out of this area first, as at the end of
the path is the Moogle House for this area.  Once you've stopped in and gotten
your Moogle Stamp head back out of the North section of Open Area #2, follow
the path till you come to your final open area.  In the Southwestern area of
this section lies Chest #8.  The final Treasure chest holds another artifact.
Once you've grabbed it head north through the exit to face off with the master
of the mines, The Orc King!!! *Sorry about that again -.-*

Orc King: This guy is just like any other Orc, but bigger and hits harder.  He
also dies differently...but that's about it.  Alright, the first thing you'll
probably get to see him do is his Hammer Strike.  If you've gotten your stats
up like I suggested, he's a pushover.  His Hammer Strike is just that, he
tries to smack you with his hammer whoopdeedo!  That is able to be ignored,
as at this point it did only 1/2 a heart worth of damage to me.  Watch when he
starts to spin, his Spin Attack is simply that, he spins around, a yellow
slashing circle type thing surrounds him and he hits you, I think *Not sure
on this* it stuns you if it hits, but I'm not positive on that.  You'll also
get to see if he starts to spin his hammer in little circles, a targetting
circle appear, that means he's casting Fira.  Just run up to him and unleash
on him while he's doing this.  It's an easy chance to get in some shots on
the big guy.  Keep on him, every once in awhile you'll notice an Orc will run
out to assist him, they shouldn't be too hard to dispatch of as they arrive.
Kill them off, then continue the beating on him.  Once he's down to about 10%
of his Health left, he'll attempt to kill you by self destructing himself. He
will surround himself in a charging orb, at this point you have two options.
1.)You can run from him and hide in the corner, making sure that you're at
full health just incase and let him explode.  Or 2.)Take a chance and try to
finish off the rest of his Health before he can destroy himself!  I suggest
the second one as I see the first as a cowards way out!

Year 1 At an End
----------------

Congratulations, you not only got all three drops for the year, but also got
your third letter from home.  You did it!  The game will take you back home
for the end of the year party.  If you have never seen this before, sit back
and enjoy your reward, as the first time through it's somewhat entertaining
but as many of us know, the 30th or 50th time through, it is really really
annoying!  Make your choice either way!  Then get ready for Year 2!!

Year 2 Setting Out
------------------

First things first, talk to your family, sell whatever you need to, then get
your butt in gear and head up to the Goblin Wall!!

Goblin Wall
-----------

Monsters:
Bat (always), Electric Jellyfish (always), Flan (always), Goblin (always),
Goblin Chieftain (always), Goblin Mage (always), Cerberus (cycle 2 and up),
Ghost (cycle 2 and up), Mace Goblin (cycle 2 and up), Spear Goblin (cycle 2
and up).

From the begining of the level you head northwest up the hill till you reach
the top.  From there head east, activate two skull switches on your way.  Back
track to the begining, collect chest 1 which contains an artifact and chest 2
which contains a tome of wisdom.  Head back up the northwest hill across the
place where the switches are and head north up the hill on the opposite side.
At the top of the hill go west and activate the 2 switches then retreat back
down the hill collecting chest 3 which contains a weapon scroll.  Head west
into the next cave you opened and head all the way to the still closed gate.
Just north of the gate is the moogle's nest, which is located against the back
of the cave wall.  Enter and get your stamp then head back up to the switches.
Head northwest up yet another hill, activate the switch at the top then
retrace your steps down the hill to open chest 4 which contains an artifact.
Now, head east all the way over, activating the one switch as you go then head
south when you reach the wall and activate the switch at the bottom of the
hill.  Now back track all the way to the location of chest 1.  From there head
directly east.  There you will find and open chest 5 which contains an item
scroll.  Now backtrack to the last switch that you activated.  From the switch
head into the cave just north of you.  Head north following the east wall
heading up the first available hill.  Activate the switch located at the top,
retrace your steps back down the hill and collect chest 6 which contains an
artifact.  From there, head up the hill again and head west activating all 4
switches on the way.  Once the switches have been activated, head back down
the hill and west to collect chest 7 for some gil head into the next cave
crossing the cavern, then collect 8 for some more gil.  Continue heading west
up the hill.  From the top of the hill, head east (beware of a massive army of
monsters) activating 2 switches and retrieving chest 9 at the far east wall
which contains an artifact.  Backtrack to chest 7.  From chest 7 head back up
the central hill to collect chest 10 which contains an item scroll and chest 11
which contains yet another item design.  Backtrack to where chest 9 was,
hugging the northern most wall opening the gate and enter to face off with the
Goblin King.

Goblin King:
Kill the goblin minions first to collect keys for the gate.  The second set
carry the key.  Becareful as the King likes to cast spells, typically
lightning, poison and teleporting around the room.  If you attempted to attack
the Goblin King when he is not casting spells, he will promptly smack you back.
His minions do return over the course of the battle from the lower east and
west walls.  Thus the reasoning in killing him as quickly as possible.

On The Road Again
-----------------

Make for Alfitaria.  In Alfitaria, head east following the south most wall
until you reach a set of stairs.  Take the stairs and follow the path to the
next moogle nest.  Collect your stamp and do whatever you will with Mog.  Also
be sure to upgrade equiptment if possible.  Now we come to a choice, Moschet
Manor or Tida.  For the initial purpose of this guide and ease we will chose
Moschet Manor.

Coeurls (always), Gargoyle (always), Gremlin (always), Tonberry Chef (always),
Ochu (cycles 3 and up).

Okay, this dungeon can be difficult and deadly if you are not careful.  Right
off the bat head to the southwest corner of the courtyard and open chest 1 for
a life stone then head across to the east for chest 2 for a cure stone (which
you are going to need!).  Alright, the confusing thing about this dungeon is
that doors will only open when you stand on the platform when your character's
race symbol is shown.  For right now we are going to work in a counter
clockwise direction starting from the southeast.  Enter the door closest to
chest 2.  In the room's northeast corner lies chest 3 which contains an
artifact.  Exit the room and head north into the next door.  Be sure to clear
out the kitchen.  The boss will not show until every monster is dead.  Keep
working counter clockwise.  The third room can be a bit tricky as the Tonberry
Chef in this room tends to hide behind the bed.  Chest 4 lies in the northwest
corner of the room containing gil.  Continue on into the next room (still
heading counter clockwise) and you should be at the north most center door.
Clean house here to keep moving.  Keep heading in your counter clockwise
motions and into the next door.  Chest 5 lies directly west of the door with
an artifact for you.  Just as an easter egg, there are 3 books in the library
you can read.  Chest number 6 lies just west of the next room's entrance.  It
contains an artifact.  If you examine the side of the table in which the chair
lies, you will find your next moogle nest.  Collect your stamp and keep moving.
Once this is done, the Gigas Lord will appear and battle will begin.

Gigas Lord (and Maggie):
Once you strike the Gigas Lord for the first time, Maggie will appear.  At this
point, ignore the fact that the Gigas Lord even exists.  If you do not Maggie
will make your life a living hell as she will continually heal the Gigas Lord.
She will also cast slow on you and hit you with her fans.  Beat on her until
she runs away.  The Gigas Lord is powerful and he shows it with every single
one of his attacks.  One of his attacks consists of a body slam where he jumps
on the ground sending a shock wave to the surrounding area.  He will also try
to punch you, and spit a toxic mist onto the battlefield.  Other than that he
is not too dangerous.  Just keep hitting him and he will fall (as long as
Maggie is gone).

Here I'll actually copy my Diary Log word for word so that we can make sure
that we activate every single Cinema Scene that is included in the game, to
assure that we get as many memories as we can on our path to beating every
single thing in the game.  Just remember that your page numbers may vary as
some of these events are random.

Page 1 Heading Out: *Always Page 1*
 The morning of my departure was here at last.  I tried to brace myself for
 the journey ahead.  There was a field along the main road where I decided to
 camp until sunrise.  Tomorrow I set out in search of myrrh.

Page 2 Sol Racht & Stiltzkin's Training: *Occurs when heading north of town*
 Not far from the village, someone called to me.  The man introduced himself
 as Sol Racht, leader of the caravan from Alfitaria.  It seems that news of
 my caravan had already reached them.  They showed me much kindness, and a
 moogle named Stiltzkin gave me a lesson in combat.

 I visited a Moogle Nest for the first time.  The moogle there cheerfully
 welcomed me into his home.  When it was time to go, I thought he looked a
 bit sad.  I patted the bon bon on his head and bade him farewell.  I wonder
 if all moogles live so comfortably.

Page 4 River Belle Path: *Gained by going to River Belle Path for first time*
 I wound my way through the vivid green hills and followed the path to reach
 the River Belle.  All my tension seemed to flow away with the River Belle's
 serene currents.  As I pressed onward, I slew many goblins.  I soon saw a
 rainbow over a great waterfall.  Who could have known that I would fight
 the Giant Crab surrounded by such beauty!

Page 5 Black Knight I: *Available after gaining first drop of Myrrh*
 I came across the caravan from Alfitaria today.  The town was already abuzz
 with talk of the Black Knight, but Sol Sol had more tales to tell.  Sol
 spoke with such enthusiasm that he actually seemed to admire him.  It is
 astonishing how quickly word of the Black Knight has spread in spite of the
 way miasma isolates every town.

 After eating, I was preparing to set off, when suddenly some Lilties ran by,
 in hot pursuit of a monster.  They were probably from Marr's pass.  That
 village has long been home to blacksmiths, so they were probably out
 gathering materials.

 Early this morning, I passed the caravan from Alfitaria.  They proudly
 marched right past me!  I must admit, they were an impressive sight.

Page 8 Miasma Streams: *Gained by going into Miasma Stream for first time*
 The miasma stream.  Many caravans have passed through, and now I will
 follow in their tracks.  Someday, others will follow me.  I feel like I have
 become a small part of history.

Page 9 Marr's Pass: *Gained by going into Marr's Pass for the first time*
 Marr's Pass.  This land was once home of the Lilties.  With the iron weapons
 they wrought here, they once ruled the entire world.  Now, this place is but
 a small town at the crossroads.  Time washes away everything.  Joy.  Agony.
 Everything.

 I ran across the caravan from Leuda.  Those two Selkies are some characters.
 They seemed to be enjoying the journey more than observing their duty.  It
 was a refreshing outlook, but it worried me.  I began to understand how Sol
 of Alfitaria must have felt about me.

 Today I decided to take a side road for a change of pace.  To my surprise,
 I heard someone call out to my caravan.  It was a group of kindly dash
 looking Clavats.  A look at their clothes told me that they probably hailed
 from the Fields of Fum.

 Leuts of Marr's Pass gave me some advice: "Flan carry nothing worthy of
 note.  Well, Water Flan sometimes yeild some chilly jel, which may come in
 handy."

 As I approached the mushroom forest, I somehow feel like I'm shrinking.
 Each toadstool I pass seems taller than the last.  Now I know I am inside
 the forest.  I'm walking along a rooftop of mushrooms.  Although a Malboro
 blocked my path I prevailed and collected a drop of Myrrh.

Page 14 Mines of Cathuriges: *Gained by entering the Mines for the first time*
 The Mine of Cathuriges is a relic of the age of Liltian reign.  Orcs rule it
 now.  As I ventured deep into the mine, I kept jumping out at my own shadow,
 cast on the walls by the flickering lamps overhead.  I found the Orc King
 waiting for me in the deepest cavern within.  After my victory, I collected
 a drop of Myrrh.

 With my first journey behind me, my caravan has finally come home.  Before
 setting out, I had heard only stories of the world outside.  Once out there,
 I found excitement, surprise, and a bit of hardship.  Whenever I close my
 eyes, I vividly remember all my adventures as I searched for Myrrh.  Tonight
 is the festival.  It's time to celebrate!

Here's where I'm going to place the stuff for the boss.  I'm going to do this
in a similar fashion to the way I did the Monster Database.  Only instead of
doing this one in alphabetical order.  I'm going to do this in the order in
which I ran into the boss.  Note for bosses that I did not have their actual
HP/Str/Def/Mag stats available to me, so what I'll do is list the boss, give
a strategy to defeating them soundly.  Then include a strategy for Cycles 2
and 3 on for the ones that have this variable applicable to them.

Food restores health to you when consumed.  Generally you'll probably only use
the food that is your favorite food.  The closer to being full that your bar
for favorites is, the more health the food will restore.  So obviously you're
going to want to stock up on your favorite food.  However, if you eat a food
that is lower on the likeness scale, you will over time of eating it,
gradually build up your favoritism towards that food.  All food restores HP so
