2) INTRODUCTION
*******************************************************************************
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------DK

Welcome, fellow drummers, to my FAQ for the best rhythm-action game ever seen
on a home console: Donkey Konga! This fantastic game comes complete with a set
of bongo-drums, which act as a controller for the game. This revolutionary
piece of hardware contains a sound sensor, meaning that this set of drums can
pick up claps, as well as hits on the left, right, or both, of the drums. What
this amounts to is a fantastic game for the single player, as you beat along to
the music and mini-games that come up on the screen. But where this game really
shines is when you have three other friends round, each with their own set of
bongos. Everyone plays at the same time, and everybody's beats all fit together
to make a brilliant rhythm line.

In this guide, I'm going to attempt to cover everything about this game. Note
that this is a PAL guide, because the line-up of songs is completely different
between the PAL (European) and NTSC (American) versions of the game. Total
beginners should start reading "Section 3: How To Play" for the basic
information about the game. Further on is the song list, which also lists
difficulties for all the tracks. There's also a Lyrics section at the end,
so that you can sing along as you play the songs!

This is my first FAQ that I've written for GameFAQs, and I can't think
of a better game to start with. I hope you find this guide useful as you bongo
the nights away!

3) HOW TO PLAY
*******************************************************************************
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------DK

----------------------------------------------------
DONKEY KONGA - SPECIFICATIONS

Platform - Nintendo Gamecube
Players - 1 to 4 players simultaneous
Memory - Uses 3 blocks of memory
Accessories - Game supports play with the DK Bongos
TV Modes - Supports 50HZ and 60HZ mode
----------------------------------------------------

Donkey Konga is a rhythm-action game. Music plays, and you have to beat along
to it using the DK Bongos. If you hit them in-time with the music, you'll make
up a pretty cool percussion line for the track. This section will cover the
basics of gameplay, and we'll start by covering how to set up the game when you
first play.

I--------------------------I
I 3)A) SETTING UP THE GAME I
I--------------------------I

If you have a pair of DK Bongos, plug them into Controller Socket 1. Any
subsequent Bongos or regular Controllers can be inserted into the other three
ports. Bear in mind that a controller can be used instead of the bongos,
although I highly recommend you invest in a set of Bongos if you want the full
gameplay experience.

Now, put the Game Disc into your Gamecube. Press the Power button, and the game
will start.

First you have to select whether to display the game in 50HZ or 60HZ mode. 60HZ
mode is preferable, as it produces a clearer picture, but some older TVs don't
support it.

Then, you will be asked whether you want to create a game file on your Memory
Card. Donkey Konga takes 3 blocks of memory data, which is nothing, really, and
requires to create a file to save all your game data. Select YES to continue.
(You can select NO, but it means you can't save your progress)

Now the Title Screen will display. Press the Start button on your bongos, which
is located on the vertical panel in between the two drums, or the Start button
on your controller if that's what you're using.

You will now be in the Main Menu. Use the left and right bongos (or the Control
Stick) to navigate the menu. Go right twice and press Start to select DK Town.
Now scroll left and press Start at the Electric Hut. Now press Start at "DK
Bongos & Controller".

Here you can configure your bongos and controllers. Whichever ports a pair of
Bongos is connected to, a bar will appear. Here you can set the clap
sensitivity. The clap sensor is located in between the two drums. When you
clap, a small bar will raise, and slowly fall back down. Clap a few more times,
then adjust the slider (with the left and right bongos) to a few notches below
where the line jumps up to. This ensures the sensitivity is right. Most players
will find the centre is the best place for the slider. Too far left, and the
sensor picks up everything, too far right, and it might not pick up a quiet
clap.
NB For 4-player multiplayer games, each sensitivity should be low (ie far
right), otherwise your bongos may pick up other players claps.

For any controllers connected, you can set the rumble feature on or off, and
the control configuration. See the next section (3B) for more details on
controller configurtions, but for now, I recommend Type B.

There! You're all ready to play!

I-----------------------------------I
I 3)B) CONTROLS AND GAMEPLAY BASICS I
I-----------------------------------I

So how do you use the bongos and controllers? Here are the controls for both.

*----------------------------------------------------------------*

In the game, you hit the bongos in-time to the music. Coloured circles scroll
along the screen, and you must hit the corresponding bongo when each circle
passes through the target marker on the left of the screen. Here are what the
colours correspond to.

YELLOW CIRCLE - Hit the LEFT bongo

RED CIRCLE - Hit the RIGHT bongo

PINK CIRCLE - Hit BOTH bongos at the same time

BLUE STAR - CLAP your hands

Note that when you are instructed to clap, any short, loud noise will register.
Some people prefer to hit the plastic sides of the bongo drums instead.

Here are the controls for the in-game action.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BONGOS
GAME CONTROLS

Left Drum - Hit when you see a yellow circle
Right Drum - Hit when you see a red circle
Both Drums - Hit when you see a pink circle
Clap Your Hands - Clap when you see a blue star
Start - Pauses the game

CONTROLLER
GAME CONTROLS

There are 3 different controller setups, and you can choose which option suits
you best in the Electric Hut in DK Town (See section 3A). Type A is useless,
Type B is quite good (and is my prefered setup) and Type C is also workable.
Here they are. This shows which buttons correspond to which action on the
bongos.

TYPE A

Control Stick or D-Pad - Hit left bongo
A, B, X or Y Buttons or C-Stick - Hit right bongo
Left and Right Bongo Buttons - Hit both bongos
L or R Buttons - Clap
Start - Pause the game

TYPE B

L Button - Hit left bongo
R Button - Hit right bongo
Left and Right Bongo Buttons - Hit both bongos
A, B, X, or Y Buttons or C-Stick - Clap
Start - Pause the game

Type C

Y Button - Hit left bongo
X Button - Hit right bongo
Left and Right Bongo Buttons - Hit both bongos
A Button - Clap
Start - Pause the game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And that's the controls. Also, you will sometimes be required to perform a drum
roll. This is indicated by a circle with a long tail, like this:

 /---\----------------\
/ /-\ \                \
I I  I IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
\ \-/ /                /
 \---/----------------/

If it's yellow, you have to drum-roll on the left bongo for as long as the tail
is in the target circle. If it's red, drum-roll the right bongo. It's best to
use both hands on one bongo to get a good point total, as you can hit it twice
as many times with two hands. If it's a pink tailed circle, drumroll on both
bongos as fast as you can. If it's a blue tailed star, you have to rapidly
clap, although it's better just to hit either side of the bongos as fast as you
can.

Every time you hit a circle as it passes through the target marker, you are
awarded a rating which appears briefly above the marker. 'Great' appears if you
hit it bang-on, when the circle is perfectly positioned inside the marker. You
get an 'OK' if the circle was just out, and a 'Bad' if you were well off the
marker. If you totally fail to hit a note, you get a 'Miss', although this
doesn't show up until the final point summary at the end.

OK! Now you're ready to play. Try out a simple stage on Monkey Mode in Street
Performance. I recommend Tubthumping, Turkish March, and the DK Rap to start
off with. For more in-depth information about gameplay, see the next section,
Modes and Menus.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------DK
*******************************************************************************
4) MODES AND MENUS
*******************************************************************************
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------DK

Donkey Konga has a rather overwhelming amount of things to do in it. Here I'll
list all the menus and modes contained in the game, and first I'll summarise
the main menu (the first one you see after the title screen).

STREET PERFORMANCE
This is the main single player mode, where you can beat along to the tracks at
three different levels.

CHALLENGE
If you're good enough, you (and a friend, if you want) can battle through every
single track in the game, at one of three difficulties.

BATTLE
For two players only, here you can play head-to-head with a friend to see who
has the best drumming talent.

JAM SESSION
For one to four players, this isn't a competition like Battle Mode: you and up
to three others drum together to the tracks. Everyone has a different part, and
it all goes together to make one fantastic percussion section!

APE ARCADE
One or two players can battle it out on one of three mini-games which all use
the DK bongos. They aren't initially unlocked, though.

DK TOWN
Here you can change the options for the game, and also spend your hard earned
coins

In the next few sections, I'll go into more detail about each mode, and how to
set up a game in each. At the start of each sub-section, I've included a quick
guide of the menu screens to go through to get into the mode.

I-------------------------I
I 4)A) STREET PERFORMANCE I
I-------------------------I

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Player Only

Street Performance > Select Difficulty > Select Track >
> Select Controller and Bongo Sound
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the main single player mode, where you can play any song at any level.
Once you enter, you must choose a difficulty. Choose Monkey mode if you're a
total beginner, Chimp if you're relatively experienced, and Gorilla if you're
an expert. Note that you have to buy Gorilla tracks with your coins before you
can play them (See Section 4F for more details on buying tracks).

Monkey JAM, Chimp JAM and Gorilla JAM modes are for complete experts with large
memories, because instead of showing you a coloured circle so you know what
bongo to hit, all you see is blank barrels. You know when the notes come, but
you don't know which notes they are. VERY VERY HARD!

After you've selected a level, you need to select a track to play. There's a
wide range of stuff in there, from rock, to latin, to game soundtracks. Choose
something to match your mood! The number of barrels next to the song title
shows you how hard the song is. 1-3 barrels is quite easy, 4-6 is moderate and
7-8 is very hard. Note also that the barrel rating is for the difficulty you
are on at the moment: a Gorilla track with a 1 barrel rating is much harder
than a Monkey track with a 1 barrel rating. But, that same Gorilla track is
easy compared to the other Gorilla tracks which have higher barrel ratings
than it does.

EXAMPLE
"Tubthumping" - Monkey Mode - 1 Barrel - VERY EASY
"DK Rap" - Gorilla Mode - 1 Barrel - QUITE HARD
"Rainbow Cruise" - Gorilla Mode - 8 Barrels - IMPOSSIBLE

Once you select your track, you can select which bongo sound set you wish to
use. Scroll through with the left and right bongos (or the control stick).
These add a new sound instead of the regular bongos and claps. So, for
example, in the Classical Orchestra sound set, a left hit sounds a trumpet, a
right hit sounds a lower trumpet and a clap sounds a cymbal crash.

After you select your sound set, press start on the controller you wish to use.
Although the bottom of the screen shows all the controllers plugged in, you can
only use one, and you can only have one player in this mode. Press Start again
to begin.

When you're in the game, you have to hit the corresponding bongo as its circle
passes through the white target marker at the left. See "Section 3B: Controls
and Gameplay Basics" for more details. Your objective here is to hit as many
accurate (Great or OK rated) notes as possible. Doing this fills up the
Phonograph Gauge in the top right of the screen. It has to be filled beyond
the clear marker to successfully complete the song. If it's still in the red,
you've not hit enough notes correctly, but if it's in the yellow, you're set
to complete the track. Beware, though, as hitting Bad or Miss rated notes
DECREASES the gauge, so you might hit some bad notes at the end and just fall
short of the clear line. Very annoying! If you get into the yellow by the end
of a song, you get a silver medal next to the song on the track selection
screen. Get a totally full Gauge (quite hard, but you can make some mistakes)
and you get a gold medal. I don't yet know if there's any special reward for
getting a gold on every track.

Every successful note you hit, you get coins, which fall in to the register
below the target circle, which is guarded by the appalingly animated Ellie the
Elephant. A Great gives you 2 coins, OK gives you 1. You get none for a Bad or
Miss. You also get one coin for every hit you do on drum rolls, so make the
most of it: these are where you can really rack up your total amount. Use
these coins to buy stuff in DK Town (See section 4F). You will only receive
the coins you have collected if you clear the stage (ie the Gauge is in the
yellow at the end of the song)

Finally, we have the points box in the lower right. You get points for
accuracy, and the number of hits you make on drum rolls. The top 3 point totals
for each track are stored in the Hall of Records in DK Town.

I----------------I
I 4)B) CHALLENGE I
I----------------I

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 or 2 Players

Challenge > Select Solo or Duet > Select Difficulty >
> Select Controller(s) and Bongo Sound(s)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This mode can be played with 1 or 2 players. The aim is to complete every song
in a difficulty level to a reasonably good standard. Start by selecting
Challenge in the main menu. You'll then need to choose Solo if you're just
playing yourself, or Duet if you're playing with a friend. After this, you need
to choose your difficulty level: Monkey is easy, Chimp is moderate and Gorilla
is hard. Note that you can't play Gorilla Challenge mode until you've unlocked
EVERY Gorilla track at Jungle Jams in DK Town. You buy these tracks using coins
you gain from Street Performance.

Now, all the controllers inserted will show up on the bottom of the screen.
Players can choose their sound set with the left or right bongos (or the
control stick), and then press Start on their controller. Once one controller
is selected (or 2 if you're playing Duet), press Start again to begin.

In this mode, tracks are played in a random order, one after the other. You
have to try and clear them all. Unlike in Street Performance, the Phonograph
Gauge in the top right starts off full. It gradually falls if you get Bad or
Miss rated notes, but it DOESN'T refill if you get Great or OK notes. The only
time it refills is at the start of each new song, but it doesn't go up by much.
If it ever totally depletes, it's Game Over. The red, yellow and green colours
on it make no difference whatsoever, so you can ignore them. It's only when the
gauge totally empties that you lose.

Other things on the screen include the Points Box, which is the same one for
both of you in Duet mode. This fills if you make good hits, and falls if you
make bad ones. You can see your final point tallies in the Hall of Records in
DK Town.

The final thing is the two silver barrels at the bottom of the screen. These
count up how many tracks you've successfully completed, and if you're playing
on Solo mode, you'll have the delight of an atrociously animated Rambi the
Rhino jumping up and down beside it. Oh the joy.

I-------------I
I 4)C) BATTLE I
I-------------I

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 Players Only

Battle > Select Track > Select Controllers and Bongo Sounds
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Battle mode, two players drum together Head-to-Head to see who's the best at
Donkey Konga! This mode is for 2 players only.

Select Battle from the main menu, and then select the track you and your friend
want to drum along to. Now you can use the left and right bongos (or control
stick) to select your bongo sound set. Press Start on the two controllers you
want to use (they don't necessarily need to be the ones in controller ports 1
and 2), and press Start again to begin.

In this mode, the winner is the person with the most points at the end of the
track. Points for each player are displayed in the corresponding box at the top
and bottom of the screen. As well as getting points for Great and OK rated
hits, and losing them for Bad or Miss rated notes, battle mode offers you new
ways to gather the all-important points to beat your opponent.

The POW Block appears once for each player, and replaces one of the normal
bongo or clap circles. The POW Blocks respond to anything: left, right or clap.
It's important to hit these as accurately as you can, because they can drop
your opponents score dramatically if you hit it correctly. The following are
the effects for the different ratings for hitting a POW Block:

Great - Drop opponents score to 0
OK - Drop opponents score by 90%
Bad / Miss - No effect

You can see how important it is now. If you miss your block but your opponent
gets a Great on his, then your scores will be dramatically different, and you
probably won't be able to win.

During the battle, a slot-machine will appear for both players. As it spins,
three of the notes will have 'Stop' written above them. You must try to hit
each of these with the same accuracy: Great, OK, or Bad. Each hit will get stop
one wheel of the slots depending on how it was hit. Great gets you a Mario, OK
stops on a Yoshi, and Bad stops on Peach. If you hit all three of the notes
with the same accuracy (eg Great, Great, Great), you'll receive a points bonus.
Three Great's (three Mario's) gets you 10,000 points. Three OK's
(three Yoshi's) gets you 8000 points. Three Bad's (three Peach's) gets you a
measly 4000 points. According to the manual, there are other combos you can
create, but "they're secret". I will endeavor to find all of these and put them
into the next version of the guide.

The final feature is the Final Roll Zone. In Battle mode, every song ends with
a big drumroll on both drums. A barrel appears beside your points box, and that
counts how many times you hit the bongos during the drumroll. Make sure you get
a lot of hits in, because the person with the most at the end wins 1000 extra
points, as well as a bonus based on both players combined roll totals.

And that's Battle mode. Make sure YOU always come out on top, OK?

I------------------I
I 4)C) JAM SESSION I
I------------------I

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 to 4 Players

Jam Session > Select Solo, Duet or Quartet > Select Difficulty > Select Track >
> Select Controller(s) and Bongo Sound(s)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Jam Session, there's no competition between players. You and up to 4 friends
can play the tracks together, each filling in a different percussion line to
the music. If all 4 players have bongo controllers, and are reasonably talented
at the game, this can be one of the best ways to play Donkey Konga!

First, select Jam Session from the main menu. You'll then need to choose
whether to play as a Solo, Duet or Quartet. You don't actually need the
specified number of players for each mode, so a single player can play as a
quartet for example, and the computer fills in any missing players' lines. For
some reason there isn't a Trio option, so if you have only three players,
you'll have to use Quartet mode and let the computer fill a line in for you.

After that you'll have to select a difficulty (Monkey's easy, Chimp's moderate
and Gorrila's hard). Strangely, this only applies to Solo or Duet mode: the
difficulty in Quartet mode is fixed.

Then select a track. The more barrels there are next to a track, the harder it
is. Finally, all players use left or right to choose their bongo sound set.
Press Start when you're ready. When all players have pressed Start, someone
needs to press it again to begin.
NB If you want to try a different line, simply plug your controller into the
corresponding controller socket before you start.

As for stuff on-screen, there isn't much. In Solo and Duet mode, each player
will get a running tally on-screen of all their Great, OK, Bad and Miss rated
notes, and that's it. Although Jam Session isn't competitive, at the end of
the song, the player who played most accurately receives a Donkey Konga trophy
and a fanfare...of sorts. Make sure you bask in the glory when you win.

I-----------------I
I 4)E) APE ARCADE I
I-----------------I

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 or 2 Players

Ape Arcade > Select Mini-Game > Select Controller(s)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ape Arcade contains a selection of mini-games to play alone or with a friend,
although in my opinion they really aren't any fun at all, and are no substitute
to the main game. None of the games are initially unlocked, and you'll have to
use the coins from Street Performance to buy them in DK Town (See Section 4F).
The following games are available:

Bash K.Rool
Banana Juggle
Vs. Banana Juggle
100m Vine Climb
Vs. 100m Vine Climb

Let's look at them in more detail. For each game, I'll list the controls at the
start, before going into the actual rules.

(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)
( 4)E)a) BASH K.ROOL )
(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Player Only

Controls - Bongos

Left Bongo - Drop hammer on left hole
Right Bongo - Drop hammer on right hole
Clap - Drop hammer on middle hole
Start - Pause the game

Controls - Controller

Left Bongo Button - Drop hammer on left hole
Right Bongo Button - Drop hammer on right hole
Clap Button - Drop hammer on middle hole
Start - Pause the game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever played those Whack-a-Mole games at the fair? This game is just like that.
K.Rool sticks his head out of one of three holes in the ground, and you have to
hit the corresponding bongo to drop a metal barrel on his head. Left bongo for
the left hole, Right bongo for the right hole, and Clap for the middle hole. If
you hit him, you get one whole point which is tallied in the score box at the
top right. Watch out for Diddy Kong, who will occasionaly pop out a hole
instead of K.Rool. If you hit Diddy, you lose a point, although there is
something satisfying about hitting him on the head...

The time remaining is shown on the top left of the screen (you get 60 seconds),
along with the top score since you turned on the Gamecube on the bottom right.
K.Rool sometimes pops his head up and goes immediately back down again, so it's
worth waiting that extra half-second to make sure that he is actually going to
come up before you release the barrel. By the way, this is the most enjoyable
mini-game...

(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)
( 4)E)b) BANANA JUGGLE )
(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 or 2 Players

Controls - Bongos

Left Bongo - Pass a banana from DK's right hand to his left
Right Bongo - Toss a banana in the air from DK's left hand to his right
Clap - Toss in an extra banana
Start - Pause the game

Controls - Controller

Left Bongo Button - Pass a banana from DK's right hand to his left
Right Bongo Button - Toss a banana in the air from DK's left hand to his right
Clap Button - Toss in an extra banana
Start - Pause the game
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This game is, in my opinion, truly awful. If you want to play with two players,
choose the Vs Banana Juggle option from Ape Arcade.

The aim here is to keep DK juggling bananas for as long as you can. He starts
off with none, so first, clap to get Diddy to pass him a banana into his right
hand. Next, hit the left bongo to pass that banana into DK's left hand.
Finally, hit the right bongo to throw that banana into the air, to eventually
land back again in his right hand. While that banana is in the air, repeat the
sequence to get another banana going. Try it out. I promise it will be a lot
clearer than I can explain it!

As DK gets more bananas, he throws them higher (you'll see the camera panning
out). This allows you to get even more bananas into the juggle. If DK's right
hand already has a banana in it, and another one falls onto it, it falls to the
ground, and you lose a point. I find a good strategy is just to perform a
continuous, steady drum roll, clapping whenever you see a space for another
banana. This allows you to rake up lots of points.

The number of bananas you've successfully tossed out DK's left hand is
displayed in the centre of the screen. The time remaining is displayed at the
top left in single player, and in the top centre in two player. The time
starts, strangely, at 77 seconds. At the top of the screen is your banana
tally. 'Max' shows the highest amount of bananas you had going at any time in
that game, and 'Bananas' shows how many you have currently. The top score of
the day is displayed at the bottom of the screen in single player mode, as
well.

Your final score is calculated by taking the total number of throws (the number
in the centre of the screen), and taking away the number of bananas you
dropped.

(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)
( 4)E)c) 100M VINE CLIMB )
(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 or 2 Players

Controls - Bongos

Alternate Left and Right - Climb vines

I 4)F) DK TOWN I
I--------------I

In DK Town, you can buy all sorts of things with your coins from Street
Performance, view High Score tables, and adjust settings for gameplay. I go
into detail on what you can buy and for how much in Section 6, so here, I'll
only list the shops themselves.

JUNGLE JAMS
Here you can buy Gorilla level music for expert drummers.

BONGOS A-GO-GO
Buy new Bongo Sound Sets for all modes in this shop.

MONKEY SHINES
Here you can buy the mini-games to play in Ape Arcade.

HALL OF RECORDS
As well as the shops, DK Town is home to the Hall of Records, where you can
view all the high-scores recorded on the current Memory Card. You can view top
scores on all three levels of Street Peformance, all three levels of Challenge,
and on the Single Player modes of the three Mini-Games.
NB On the Street Performance records, you can press Start to view the seperate
scores for players using a controller instead of a set of bongos.

ELECTRIC HUT
Here, you can set controller settings, adjust the volume balance to favour
music or bongo sounds, and choose Stereo or Mono sound. Defaults changes
everything back to the Default setting, but doesn't erase any high scores etc.

7) LYRICS
*******************************************************************************
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------DK

Something I found really strange about Donkey Konga was that there was no
on-screen lyrics to the songs. It's quite boring watching others play on the
bongos if you've not got any, so why not have lyrics on the screen so the
spectators can sing along and be part of the action? This section should
hopefully rectify this problem. I've included lyrics for every song in the
game; combine these with the bongos, and you could start your own band!

ALRIGHT
By Daniel Geoffy, gareth Coombes and Michael Quinn

We are young, we run green
Keep our teeth, nice and clean
See our friends, see the sights, feel alright
We wake up, we go out
Smoke a fag, put it out
See our friends, see the sights, feel alright

Are we like you? I can't be sure
Of the scene, as she turns
We are strange, in our worlds

But we are young, we get by
Can't go mad, ain't got time
Sleep around, if we like, but we're alright
Got some cash, bought some wheels
Took it out, 'cross the fields
Lost control, hit a wall, but we're alright

Are we like you? I can't be sure
Of the scene, as she turns
We are strange, in our worlds

But we are young, we run green
Keep our teeth, nice and clean
See our friends, see the sights, feel alright

CANNED HEAT
By Jason Kay

You know this boogie is for real
I used to buy my faith in worship
But then my chance to get to heaven slipped
I used to worry 'bout the future
But then I throw my caution to the wind
I had no reason to be care-free
Until I took a trip to the other side of town (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I heard that boogie rhythm, Hey
I had no choice but to get down down down down

Dance! Nothing left for me to do but dance
Off these bad times I'm goin' through, just dance
Got canned heat in my heels tonight baby

I feel the thunder see the lighning
I know this anger's heaven sent
So I've got to hang out all my hang-ups
Because of the boogie I feel so hell-bent, hey, hey
It's just an instant gut reaction, that I got
I know I never ever felt lke this before
I don't know what to do, but then that's nothing new
Stuck between hell and high water I need a cure to make it through, hey

Dancing! Nothing left for me to do but dance
Off these bad times I'm goin' through, just dance! Yeah!
Got canned heat in my heels tonight baby
You know, know, know I'm gonna Dance
Yeah! Off all the nasty things that people say
Dancing, but I'm gonna make it anyway. Dance! Yeah!
Got canned heat in my heels tonight baby
You know that I got canned heat, yeah...

DON'T STOP ME NOW
By Freddie Mercury

Tonight, gonna have myself, a real good time
I feel ali-hi-hi-hive, and the world
I'm turning inside out, yeah
And floating around, in ecstasy, so
Don't stop me now
Don't stop me, 'cause I'm
Havin' a good time, Havin a good time!

I'm a shooting star, leaping through the sky
Like a tiger, defying the laws of gravity!
I'm a racing car, passing by, like Lady Godiva
I'm gonna go, go, go, there's no stopping me!

I'm burning through the sky, yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mr Farenheit
I'm travellin' at the speed of light!
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you!

Don't stop me now! I'm havin' such a good time
I'm havin' a ball, don't stop me now!
You wanna have a good time, just give me a call
Don't stop me now ('cause I'm havin' a good time)
Don't stop me now (yes I'm havin a good time)
I don't wanna stop at all

I'm on a rocket ship, on my way to Mars
On a collision course, I am a satellite
Out of control. I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb, about to oh, oh, oh, oh, oh explode!

I'm burning through the sky, yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mr Farenheit
I'm travellin' at the speed of light!
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you!

Don't stop me, don't stop me
Don't stop me hey, hey, hey!
Don't stop me, don't stop me
Ooh, ooh, ooh. I like it!

THE LOCO-MOTION
By Carole King and Gerry Goffin

Everybody's doin' a brand new dance now
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
I know you'll get to like it if you give it a chance now
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
My little baby sister can do it with me
It's easier than learning your ABC's
So come on, come on, do the loco-motion with me!

You gotta swing you hips now
Come on, baby! Jump up, mmm, jump back!
Well I think you got the knack! Oh oh oh oh

Now that you can do it let's make a chain now
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
Chug-a-chug-a-motion like a railway train now
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
Now do it nice and easy don't you lose control
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of soul
So come on, come on, do the loco-motion with me! The loco-motion

Come on, come on! The loco-motion!
Come on, come on! The loco-motion!
Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on!

Move around the floor in a loco-motion
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
Do it holding hands if you get the notion
(C'mon baby, do the loco-motion)
There's never been a dance that's so easy to do
It even makes you happy when you're feeling blue
So come on, come on, do the loco-motion with me!

You gotta swing you hips now
Come on, baby! Jump up, mmm, jump back!
Well I think you got the knack! Oh oh oh oh

DANCING IN THE STREET
By Marvin Gaye, Ivy Joe Hunter and William Stevenson

Calling out around the world
Are you ready for a brand new beat?
Summer's here, and the time is right
For dancing in the street!

They're dancing in Chicago (Dancing in the street)
Down in New Orleans (Dancing in the street)
In New York City (Dancing in the street)

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
There'll be swingers swaying, and records playing
Dancing in the street! Oh, oh!

It doesn't matter what you where
Just as long as you are there, so come on
Every guy grab a girl, everywhere around the world
There'll be dancing (Dancing in the street)
Dancing in the street (Dancing in the street)

This is an invitation, across the nation
A chance for folk to meet
There'll be laughin', singin', and music swingin'
And dancing in the street!

Philadelphia PA (Dancing in the street)
Baltimore and DC, now (Dancing in the street)
Can't forget the Motor City (Dancing in the street)

All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
There'll be swingers swaying, and records playing
Dancing in the street! Oh, oh!

It doesn't matter what you where
Just as long as you are there, so come on
Every guy grab a girl, everywhere around the world
There'll be dancing!
They're dancing in the street (They're dancing in the street)

TUBTHUMPING
By Nigel Hunter, Bruce Duncan, Alice Nutter, Louise Watts, Paul Grecco,
Darren Hamer, Allen Whalley and Judith Abbot

We'll be singing, when we're winning
We'll be singing...

(x4)
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down

Kissing the night away
Kissing the night away

He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink, he drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the better times

Oh, Danny boy, Danny boy, Danny boy...

Don't cry for me, next-door neighbour...

(x4)
I get knocked down, but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down

YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE
By Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier and Edward Holland Jr

I need love, love, to ease my mind
I need to find, find, someone to call mine
But mama said...

You can't hurry love, no
You just have to wait
She said, love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take
You can't hurry love, no
You just have to wait
You got to trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes

But how many heartaches must I stand
Before I find a love, to let me live again?
Right now the only thing, that keeps me hangin' on
When I feel my strength, yeah it's almost gone
I remember mama said...

You can't hurry love, no,
You just have to wait
She said, love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take
How long must I wait?
How much more can I take
Before loneliness, will cause my heart
Heart to break?

No I can't bear to live my life alone
I grow impatient for a love to call my own
But when I feel that I, I can't go on
These precious words keeps me hanging on
I remember mama said...

You can't hurry love, no
You just have to wait
She said, love don't come easy
It's a game of give and take
You can't hurry love, no
You just have to wait
She said trust, give it time
No matter how long it takes

ALL THE SMALL THINGS
By Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus

All the, small things
True care, truth brings
I'll take, one lift
Your ride, best trip
Always, I know
You'll be, at my show
Watching, waiting
Comiserating

Say it ain't so, I will not go
Turn the lights off, carry me home
Na na...

Late night, come home
Work sucks, I know
She left me roses by the stairs
Surprise let me know she cares

Say it ain't so, I will not go
Turn the lights off, carry me home
Na na...

<Instrumental>

Say it ain't so, I will not go
Turn the lights off, carry me home
Keep your head still, I'll be your thrill
The night will go on, my little windmill
(Na na...) Say it ain't so, I will not go
Turn the lights off, carry me home
Keep your head still, I'll be your thrill
The night will go on, the night will go on
My little windmill

LOUIE LOUIE
By Richard Berry

Come on, yeah!

Louie, Louie. Oh no. Me gotta go
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, say
Louie, Louie. Oh baby. Me gotta go

Me fine little girl, she waits for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
Me sail the ship, I all alone
Never see how, I make it home

Louie, Louie. Ay-ya-ya-ya, said, me gotta go. Oh no
Say Louie, Louie. Oh baby, said, me gotta go

Three nights and days I sail the sea
Me think of the girl, constantly
Upon the ship I know she's there
I smell the rose up in her hair

Louie, Louie. Oh no. Me gotta go
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Louie, Louie. Oh baby. Me gotta go

OK, let's give it to em', right now!

99 RED BALLOONS
Adapted from '99 Luftballons'
By Joern-Uwe Fahrenkrog-Peterson and Carlo Karges
English translation by Kevin McAlea

99 red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert
There's something here from somewhere else
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye
Focusing it on the sky
As 99 red balloons go by

99 Decision Street
99 ministers meet
To worry, worry, super scurry
Call the troops out in a hurry
This is what we've waited for
This is it boys, this is war
The president is on the line
As 99 red balloons go by

99 knights of the air
Ride super-high-tech jet-fighters
Everyone's a superhero
Everyone's a Captain Cook
Orders to identify
To clarify and classify
Scramble in the summer sky
99 red balloons go by

As 99 red balloons go by

THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET
By Dicky Barrett and Joe Gittleman

Have you ever been close to tragedy
Or been close to folks who have?
Have you ever felt a pain so powerful
So heavy you collapse?

No, but...Ooooohh!

Never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
It makes me wonder if I've
Never had to knock on wood
And I'm glad I haven't yet
Because I'm sure it isn't good
That's the impression that I get

Have you ever had the odds stacked up so high
You need a strength most don't possess?
Or has it ever come down to do or die?
You've got to rise above the rest

No, but...Ooooohh!

Never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
It makes me wonder if I've
Never had to knock on wood
And I'm glad I haven't yet
Because I'm sure it isn't good
That's the impression that I get

<Instrumental>

I'm not a coward I've just never been tested
I'd like to think that if I was I would pass
Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go by
I might be a coward I'm afraid of what I might find out

Never had to knock on wood
But I know someone who has
Which makes me wonder if I could
It makes me wonder if I've
Never had to knock on wood
And I'm glad I haven't yet
Because I'm sure it isn't good
That's the impression that I get

BUSY CHILD
By Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland

I guess I didn't know

Get busy, child!

Get busy, child!
Get busy, child!
Get busy...
Get Get Get Get...

I WANT YOU BACK
By Freddie Perren, Alphonso Mizell, Berry Gordy Jr and Deke Richards

Oooh...Let me tell you now...Oh oh!

When I had you to myself
I didn't want you around
Those pretty faces always made you stand
Stand out in a crowd
Then someone picked you from the bunch,
A glance was all it took
Now it's much too late for me
To take a second look

Oh baby give me one more chance!
Won't you please help me, back in your heart
Oh darlin' I was blind to let you go
But now since I see you in his arms

I want you back
Yes I do now
I want you back
Ooh ooh baby
I want you back
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I want you back
No no no no

Trying to live without your love
Is one long sleepless night
Let me show you girl, that I know
Wrong from right

Every street you walk on
I leave tear stains on the ground
Following the girl
I didn't even want around

Oh let me tell you now...

Oh baby give me one more chance!
Won't you please send me, back in your heart
Oh darlin' I was blind to let you go
But now since I see you in his arms

COSMIC GIRL
By Jason Kay, Toby Smith, Stuart Zender, Derrick MacKenzie, Buchanan Wallis and
Simon Katz.

I must've died and gone to heaven
Cos' it was quarter past eleven
On a Saturdy in 1999
Right across from where I'm standing
On the dance floor she was landing
It was clear that she was from another time
Like some baby Batbarella
With the stars as her umbrella
She asked me if I'd like to magnetise
Do I have to go star-trekking
Cos' it's you I should be checking
So she laser beamed me with her cosmic eyes. Oh now!

She's just a cosmic girl
From another galaxy
My heart's at zero-gravity
She's from a cosmic world
Putting me in ecstasy
Transmitting on my frequency
She's cosmic

RICHARD III
By Daniel Goffey, Gareth Coombes, Michael Quinn and Robert Coombes

Got it today, what a day, thanks a million
Spent too much time, wondering why, I got a feeling
I know you wanna try to get away
But it's the hardest thing, you'll ever know

Waited in line, a terrible time, over to near you
Fading away, nothing to say, you're all that I'm hearin'. Yeah!
I know you wanna try to get away
But it's the hardest thing, you'll ever know

<Instrumental>

Try to get at you! Try to get at you!

Try to get at you! Try to get at you!
Try to get at you! Try to get at you!

LADY MARMALADE
By Bob Crewe and Gerry Goffin

Where is all my soul, sisters?
Let me hear y'all flow sisters

Hey sister, go sister, soul sister, flow sister
Hey sister, go sister, soul sister, flow sister

He met Marmalade down in old Moulin Rouge
Struttin' her stuff on the street
She said, "Hello, hey Joe, you wanna give it a go?" (Oh-oh, oh-oh)

Gitchie, gitchie, ya ya da da (yeah-ey-ey)
Gitchie, gitchie, ya ya here (ooh, yeah, ooh, aah)
Mocho Chocolata, ya ya (ooh yeah)
Creole Lady Marmalade

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi? (Yeah yeah yeah yeah!)

He sat in her boudoir while she freshened up
The boy drank all that magnolia wine
On the black satin sheets where he started to freak

Gitchie, gitchie, ya ya da da (da da)
Gitchie, gitchie, ya ya here (ooh, yeah, yeah)
Mocho Chocolata, ya ya (ooh yeah)
Creole Lady Marmalade

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir?
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi? (Yeah yeah ah!)

We came through with the money and the garter belt
Let 'em know we got that cake, straight up the gate
We independent women, some mistake us for whores
I'm sayin' why spend mine, when I can spend yours?
Disagree? Well that's you, and I'm sorry
I'm a keep playin' these cats out like Atari
High heeled shoes gettin' love from the dudes
Four bad-ass chicks from the Moulin Rouge

Hey sisters, soul sisters
Better get that dough sisters

We drink wine with diamonds in the glass
By the case the meaning of expensive taste
You wanna gitchie, gitchie, ya ya (come on)
Mocho Chocolta
Creole Lady Marmalade (One more time, c'mon)

Marmalade! (ooooh)
Baby, Marmalade!
Marmalade! (Yeah)

Wild Thing!
You make my heart sing!
You make everything, groovy!
Wild thing!

Wild thing, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
So come on, hold me tight
I love you

Wild Thing!
You make my heart sing!
You make everything, groovy!
Wild thing!

<Instrumental>

Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
So come on, hold me tight
You move me

SEPTEMBER
By Maurice White, Al McKay and Allee Willis

Do you remember, the 21st night of September?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night
Remember, how the stars stole the night away

Oh, oh, oh

Ba de ya! Say that you remember
Ba de ya! Dancing in September
Ba de ya! Never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya...

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart, to see you
Only blue talk and love, remember
How we knew love was here to stay

Now December, found the love that we shared in
September. Only blue talk and love, remember
The true love that we share today

Ba de ya! Say that you remember
Ba de ya! Dancing in September
Ba de ya! Never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya de ya! Say that you remember
Ba de ya de ya! Dancing in September
Ba de ya de ya! Never was a cloudy day

BACK FOR GOOD
By Gary Barlow

I guess now it's time for me to give up
I feel it's time
Got a picture of you beside me
Got your lipstick mark still on your coffe cup
Got a fist of pure emotion
Got a head of shattered dreams
Gotta leave it, gotta leave it all behind now

Whatever I said, whatever I did, I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
(Want you back, want you back, want you back for good)
Whenever I'm wrong, just tell me the song, and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood
(Want you back, want you back, I want you back for good)

Unaware, but underlined, I figured out this story
(No no) It wasn't good (No no)
But in the corner of my mind (corner of my mind)
I celebrated glory. But that was not to be
In the twist of seperation
You excelled at being free
Can't you find (can't you find) a little room inside for me?

Whatever I said, whatever I did, I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good
(Want you back, want you back, see I want you back for good)
Whenever I'm wrong, just tell me the song, and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood
(Want you back, want you back, I want you back for good)

Hey, Hey! Here we go!

So they're finally here, performing for you
If you know the words you can join in too
Put your hands together, if you want to clap
As we take you through this monkey rap. Huh!

DK! Donkey Kong!
He's the leader of the bunch, you know him well
He's finally back, to kick some tail!
His coconut gun, it fires in spurts
If he shoots you, it's gonna hurt!
He's bigger, faster, and stronger too
He's the first member of the DK crew!

DK! Donkey Kong!
DK! Donkey Kong is here!

This Kong's got style, so listen up dudes
She can shrink her size to suit her mood
She's quick and nimble when she needs to be
She can float through the air and climb up trees!
If you choose her, you'll not choose wrong
With a skip and a hop she's one tough Kong!

DK! Donkey Kong!

He has no style, he has no grace
This Kong, has a funny face
He can hand-stand, if he needs to
And stretch his arms out, just for you
Inflate himself, just like a balloon
This crazy Kong just digs this tune!

DK! (DK) Donkey Kong!
DK! (DK) Donkey Kong is here!
