1.) Introduction
=================

As you press your foot on the acceleration, your heart begins to throb.  You
can feel the sweat beginning to pour down your face.  3, 2, 1, GO!  Your car
shoots off the starting line.  Good job.  You're in first place.  But watch out
for that semi-truck.  CRASH!  You can hear the tearing metal, the skidding
tires, and all hope of you setting a new course record flying out the window.
But who cares, you're still in third place.  You lose sight of everything on
the road, only concentrating on how you're gonna catch that red sports car 100
meters in front of you.  You begin to drive on the wrong side of the road.  You
almost hit 5 vehicles in you pursuit on the winner.  You recklessly drift
around corners. All of a sudden, you see "Boost On."  Better watch out...  You
use your boosters and before you know it, that sports car is eating your dust.
You cross the finish line, and although you didn't set a new record, it still
feels pretty good that you just whooped that sports car in your brand-new SUV.

So goes the intense action of Burnout 2: Point of Impact.  Play at your own
risk, you have been warned...

4.) Cars
=========

Here is a complete list of cars and there ratings out of 100%.  These ratings
are an estimate because the ratings in game are bar graphs.

--------
Compact
--------

Acceleration: 30%
Control:      60%
Top Speed:    28%
Final:  I wouldn't choose this car, to begin with or where I am now.  Its not
very good in any category and offers sub-par acceleration and top speed
compared to the other early cars.

----
SUV
----
Acceleration: 50%
Control:      53%
Top Speed:    25%
Final:  An OK early car.  Average acceleration and control might make this your
vehicle when you first start.  Eventually, the top speed begins to hurt though.

------
Coupe
------
Acceleration: 45%
Control:      60%
Top Speed:    40%
Final: An overall average car for the first couploe grand prixs.  Not to weak,
at that point, but eventually runs out of gas...

-------
Pickup
-------
Acceleration: 50%
Control:      50%
Top Speed:    30%
Final: Basically the SUV all over again.  Average acceleration and control and
poor top speed.  I can't tell the difference.

------
Sport
------
Acceleration: 45%
Control:      55%
Top Speed:    40%
Final: This car is basically the coupe's cousin.  This car offers a little less
handle though.  I would pick the coupe over this.

---------
Roadster
---------
Acceleration: 55%
Control:      65%
Top Speed:    40%
Final: T This car was my first pick.  I liked it because of the good control.
Average acceleration and control and the second fastest top speed for the
first vehicles.

-------
Muscle
-------
Acceleration: 60%
Control:      25%
Top Speed:    45%
Final:  The Muscle would definitely be the first car off the line in the first
Grand Prix, but this car would most likely lose because of its control.  The
fastest and quickest car for the first set just happens to have the worst
control...

---------
Hot Rod*
---------
Acceleration: 75%
Control:      55%
Top Speed:    40%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing Face Off 1.  With the best
acceleration as of yet, it's an OK pick.  If you can do a Boost Start, this car
will do a wheelie.

---------
Cop Car*
---------
Acceleration: 50%
Control:      70%
Top Speed:    75%
Final:  I choose this car the moment I unlocked it.  You can unlock this car by
completing Pursuit 1.  Above average speed and control shoot this car way
ahead of the rest.

------------
Oval Racer*
------------
Acceleration: 77%
Control:      77%
Top Speed:    75%
Final:  A great car when you first get it.  It can be unlocked by completing
Face Off 2.  The best acceleration, control, and top speed as of yet make this
car a great pick.

---------
Classic*
---------
Acceleration: 40%
Control:      77%
Top Speed:    77%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing Pursuit 2.  With great control
and top speed, this car would be a good pick.  But if you frequently run into
walls and other cars, I would avoid this one.  It takes quite a while to get
that fast...

-----------------
Japanese Muscle* ^_^
-----------------
Acceleration: 75%
Control:      90%
Top Speed:    80%
Final:  My favorite pick until the very end.  You can unlock this car by
completing Face Off 3.  Great control and top speed make this a VERY goood car.

----------
Gangster*
----------
Acceleration: 40%
Control:      50%
Top Speed:    50%
Final:  The worst unlockable car.  You can unlock this by completing Pursuit 3.
It has very basic stats similar to the cars you started out with.  I wouldn't
pick this car...

----------
Supercar* ^_^
----------
Acceleration: 85%
Control:      80%
Top Speed:    85%
Final:  One of my favorites.  You can unlock this super car by completing Face
Off 4.  Above average stats make this car a very good pick.

----------------
Custom Compact*
----------------
Acceleration: 70%
Control:      75%
Top Speed:    75%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing the Custom Series Qualifier.  The
first Custom Car, it is quite impressive, but gets lost in the shadow of the
Supercar if you have it.

-------------
Custom Sport*
-------------
Acceleration: 73%
Control:      75%
Top Speed:    78%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing the Speed Streak Grand Prix.  An
overall good car, this just blends in with the other Customs.

------------
Custom SUV*
------------
Acceleration: 63%
Control:      60%
Top Speed:    78%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing Pursuit 4.  A below average
Custom Car, its top speed is the only stat that sticks out.

--------------
Custom Coupe*
--------------
Acceleration: 76%
Control:      77%
Top Speed:    78%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing the Split Second Grand Prix.
Another above average Custom Car.

---------------
Custom Pickup*
---------------
Acceleration: 70%
Control:      75%
Top Speed:    78%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing Pursuit 5.  Like every other
Custom Car, it had average stats.

-----------------
Custom Roadster*
-----------------
Acceleration: 100%
Control:      55%
Top Speed:    96%
Final:  You can unlock this by completing the Point of Impact Grand Prix.  The
fastest, quickest, and most unwieldly car in the circuit.  The Custom Roadster
could burn any car with a boost, but again loses points because of its control.
But who can control themselves when the can reach 160 mph in 7 seconds?

---------------
Custom Muscle* ^_^
---------------
Acceleration: 95%
Control:      80%
Top Speed:    90%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing Pursuit 6.  An above average car
with great stats in each category.  My favorite pick.

-------------
Driver's Ed*
-------------
Acceleration: 70%
Control:      75%
Top Speed:    70%
Final:  You can unlock this car by completing all of the Offensive Driving 101
lessons with a gold medal.  An above-average car, probably the best if you can
unlock it early.  No specifically strong points, but no weak ones either.

* Designates that the car must be unlocked to be selected.  Look at the
Unlockables Section for more.

^_^ Designates some of my favorite cars.

11.) Frequently Asked Questions
================================

Here is a list of questions that are asked all the time about Burnout 2.

Q: Has anyone else had trouble with this game corrupting memory cards? I lost a
ranger in PSO that had over 100 rare items and was at level 90 or so! Needless
to say I am quite mad. It also started to corrupt another card but I was able
to recover by deleting and resaving the burnout 2 file. Wish I had known to do
that on the first card :(

A: I really don't know what to tell you.  Make sure you are using an official
Nintendo Memory Card (59 or 251).  Don't use 3rd party memory cards because the
frequent auto-save from Burnout 2 may be to much for them to handle.  I haven't
had any problems so far though.  Sorry...

Q:  Is there an unlockable Customize Car mode?

A:  Great idea, but the answer is no.  Maybe in Burnout 3, we'll just have to
see...

Q:  I remember in Burnout you could have complete control over the replays,
speed, reverse, camera angles, etc. Is there a way to do this in Burnout 2? I
can't seem to do it. I miss being able to watch my crashes from every angle.

A:  I remember that too, but again the answer is no.  They may have taken out
because of the slo-mo in Crash mode, but I havent been able to find any replays
yet.

Q:  Where can I rent this game?

A:  I rented mine at Blockbuster, $6.41.

Q:  I just got all golds on the first 15 crash tracks where`s my cheat?!

A:  There are 30 Crash zones...  That's probably the reason.

===============
12.) Conclusion
===============

Burnout 2: Point of Impact is easily one of the best, if not the best, racing
game for the Nintendo Gamecube.  Top-notch graphics, intense, heart-pounding
gameplay, and good music put this game way above the rest.  A must for all
racing fans and maybe even for those not to driving inclined.  It's a fun game,
no matter how much you play.  And with all those unlockables, its bound to
last a life-time.
