--------------------------- 3. Introduction ------------------------

This is my second FAQ on Big Air Freestyle (my first was the Rider
List for Big Air Freestyle). I will do my best to tell you
everything I know about Big Air Freestyle. I will be telling you how
to unlock everything there is to unlock, I will be telling you as
many tips as I know of, I will be telling you how to perform stunts,
I will be telling you about the glitches that I discovered, I will
be telling you about the controls, basically, everything I know
about Big Air Freestyle. I'm no good with ASCII art.

------------------------ 4. Controls -------------------------------

There are three different controls you can choose from; Standard,
Alternate 1, and Alternate 2. It's your choice what you want, I am
currently using Standard and am trying to get used to Alternate 1,
but overall, I recommend Alternate 1. I recommend Alternate 2 the
least, but it's your choice.

--------------------------- 5. Stunt List --------------------------

There are many stunts that can be preformed. Some are worth more
points than others. Stunts have one purpose to give you points, in
races points will fill your boost meter, and in freestyle they will
increase you score as well as fill your boost meter. The Fantasy
stunts cannot be preformed until they are unlocked. Every stunt can
be combined with a backflip, a barrel roll right, or a barrel roll
left. Doing a stunt combined with a backflip, barrel roll right, or
a barrel roll left will double your stunt score. Some stunts one can
land while performing and not crash, but those are the easier
stunts. There are even stunts that can be preformed while on the
ground, but there are few like that, but it won't do you any good,
you only get points for doing stunts in the air. The Stunt button
MUST be held the entire time in order to perform a stunt of any
kind. I will be listing the stunt list in each controller
configuration. The longer one performs a stunt, the more it's worth.
If one crashes they will loose all the points from the stunts they
preformed in the air. So to perform a stunt, hold down the stunt
button, and press the buttons in order and hold down the final
button of that stunt, once you are done, release the final button of
that stunt and release the stunt button. 360's cannot be preformed
as a stunt, I've done one, but it was without the stunt button held
and it took a while, but I didn't get any points for it. There are
some stunts, not many, but some, that cannot be held. There is only
one stunt that I know of that can't be combined with a
backflip/barrel roll right/barrel roll left (Vertical) there may be
others, but that's the only one I can think of. Keep in mind, the
more you repeat the same stunt, the fewer points it becomes worth.
On with the stunt list...

------------------------- 6. Loading Tips --------------------------

When you hit "Start Race" (freestyle or race) it will load up the
track, but while doing so, it will give you some tips on how to
improve your riding as well as unlocking stuff. Some of the tips are
really obvious while others I would have never thought of. I'm sure
I don't have all of them on my list, but it's hard to write them
down. I tried having my laptop (other computer) by the TV screen and
typing it out before it loads it up, but that didn't work, the game
loads too fast. So what I had to do was record the loading tips
onto a video and then pause it during the video and type it out. I'd
say this is the trickiest part of writing this FAQ. One thing I
didn't like, is all the letters on Big Air Freestyle are caps, so I
don't know what to capitalize and what not to. I have as many as I
can get, I figured I wouldn't be able to get them all, but this is
better than nothing, right?

Each challenge box set contains a bonus rider.

You can select from various camera views using the options-camera
select menu.

Use the X button in the Rider Select Menu to edit the rider names.

Get enough points, and you can unlock a fantasy stunt in each stunt
arena.

To avoid crashing, do not lean to far back on a steep jump.

Get your name on the High-Jump board by breaking the current record.

Accumulate your power boost by performing stunts.

You can maintain some stunt poses by holding down the stunt button.

To take a sharp turn, apply the front brake while accelerating into
the turn.

You can adjust the HUD modes in the pause-display options menu.

-------------------------- 7. My Tips (Misc.) ----------------------

These are just some tips I made up, I don't think any of them are in
the loading tips. But some of them might be helpful to you.

----- Boosting -----
When I first got Big Air Freestyle, I didn't know how to boost, I
looked at the controller configuration and it said A boosted as well
as gas. Well, here's how it's done (Standard and Alternate 2) while
holding down A, let go of A and press it again twice but hold it the
second time you press it. This must be done very quickly or else it
won't do anything. Once you get the hang of it, it should come easy
to you from there on. I don't remember this being in the loading
tips, which surprises me, that's something everyone should know.

----- Quick turn around -----
In Freestyle tracks like Artic Air, Fish Bowl, and Zap Trap, they
have a hill that you can climb and once you get to the top the main
point of it is to go back down it and hit the big ramp at the
bottom. However, that takes a while to do, so I'll tell you how to
turn around quickly. When going up the hill, hit the front brake
when you want to turn around. Hold it until the rider is about to
wreck, and while holding it, turn the bike around and let go. This
is much faster, like the boosting, it may not come easy at first,
but once you've mastered it, it'll be east from there.

----- High Jumps -----

To get a high jump, while going into end of the ramp, push the
control-stick forward and just as you are about to leave the ramp,
pull the control stick all the way back, the rider should go high.

----- Minimum Air Time -----

As your going into the ramp, press back on the control-stick and
just as you are about to leave the ramp, push the control-stick
forward. This should reduce the time you are in the air.

----- Good landings -----

There are two ways to wreck in a landing; one, lean too far forward
when landing, two, lean too far backward when landing. I have the
solution that doesn't involve taking a long time leaning back in
place. Just before landing do a back-flip and you will be perfectly
even with the ground.

----- More points -----

At first I would do a fancy stunt then back flip with it and hold
the back flip down until need to let go to prevent crashing. I
discovered that there is a better way to get points. Do a stunt
combined with a back flip, and let go of everything and do it again
and again until you need to quit to prevent crashing. This will get
you a lot more points.

--- Crashing someone ---

The easiest way to crash someone is to turn into their front tire
with your back tire, the better the speed you do it with, the better
the chance you have of crashing him.

This is a list of all of the riders on Big Air Freestyle, I will be
listing their names, numbers, nationalities, and teams. I will also

every rider gets 12 points for all of their main areas, the bonus
riders have more, but they are not unlocked at the beginning, all
the riders that have 12 points are unlocked. To prevent you from
counting, everyone besides the last three are unlocked at the
beginning. If you haven't unlocked any bonus riders, I recommend
using Benjamin Grooves, his main areas, are well-balanced. The
riders are listed in alphabetical order of the their last names
(just like they are in the game).

Here I will be telling you how to unlock everything in the game
(except the bonus riders, which will be in the next section). Be
sure to save your game once you unlock something
(Options/Extras ---> Save Game), because the game won't always give
you the save option once you unlock something.

----- Unlocking Freestyle Arenas and Fantasy Stunts -----

--- Unlocking Flamin' Fountains/Vertical ---

Arena: Fish Bowl
Location: Paris, France
Difficultly: Easy
High Score Record: 10,120 Points
Time Limit: 6 Minutes
Reward(s): Flamin' Fountains and Vertical

Since it is impossible to unlock one without unlocking the other, I
will tell you how to unlock both. Go to freestyle and select Fish
Bowl, there you will have to brake the current high-score record
(10,120) in 6 minutes. The more familiar you get with freestyle the
better you get. Try to hit as many Freestyle Point Multipliers as
you can. I recommend using doing good stunts (Superman, Handstand,
Superman Seat Grab) and combining them with a back flip (barrel roll
right, or barrel roll left). As you get better at Freestyle this
should come easier to you, my high-score for this track is over 10
times the points you need to brake the current record. At first I
had trouble, but the second time through I didn't even have to try
to unlock new freestyle arena's, it came so easy to me. You'll feel
the same way later on.

--- Unlocking Zap Trap/Stand Aside ---

Arena: Flamin' Fountains
Location: Rome, Italy
Difficulty: Easy
High Score Record: 18,560 Points
Time Limit: 6 Minutes
Reward(s): Zap Trap and Stand Aside

This one I had trouble beating when I first got Big Air Freestyle,
but now it's a piece of cake if that. You have 6 minutes to get over
18,560 points but I can do that in under 40 seconds. Not much
advice can be given on this one, just practice up and read some of
the tips I have. You can also read the "Unlocking Flamin'
Fountains/Vertical" for more tips.

--- Unlocking Artic Air/Pommel Horse ---

Arena: Zap Trap
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Difficulty: Medium
High Score Record: 22,750 Points
Time Limit: 4 Minutes
Reward(s): Artic Air and Pommel Horse

Like before, there isn't much advice to be given, just try to
combine good stunts with Back Flips and Barrel rolls. You need to
22,750 points in 4 minutes which isn't asking much. Good Luck.

--- Unlocking Volcano Island/Reverse Seat ---

Arena: Artic Air
Location: Frankfurt, Germany
Difficulty: Medium
High Score: 25,630 Points
Time Limit: 4 Minutes
Reward(s): Volcano Island and Reverse Seat

This one isn't super easy like the others, for one who hasn't played
Freestyle for a while, it might be a little challenging. You need to
get 25,630 points in 4 minutes. Just try to hit the two big ramps at
each end of the arena.

--- Unlocking Tar Pits/The Chopper ---

Arena: Volcano Island
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Difficulty: Difficult
High Score Record: 16,490 Points
Time Limit: 2 Minutes
Reward(s): Tar Pits and The Chopper

This one may take you some practice, I could get the high score in
half the time but it wasn't easy. You need to get 16,490 Points in
two minutes. Good luck on that.

--- Unlocking Monkey Bar, Flip Out, and 6-minute time limit for all
Freestyle Arenas ---

Arena: Tar Pits
Location: Los Angeles, USA
Difficulty: Hard
High Score Record: 15,160 Points
Time Limit: 2 Minutes
Reward(s): Monkey Bar, Flip Out, and 6-minute time limit for all
Freestyle Arenas

This one is definitely the hardest of all, I managed to get twice
the score that was needed, but it wasn't easy. You are required to
earn 15,160 points in only 2 minutes.

----- Unlocking SX Tracks -----

There are some SX tracks needing unlocked, it's not that hard, to
unlock on, win a race with 10 riders in the track before it. You can
have it on Easy if you want, the only thing that matters is that you
have 10 riders. One thing you will want to keep in mind, is if you
are having trouble accessing the SX Tracks list go to Race --->
Single Race ---> once there, above the Rider Select it reads
"MX125 MX250 MX500 SX125 SX250", push the control stick right or
left until the "SX125" or the "SX250" is high lighted.

--- Unlocking Tokyo, Japan ---

Go to "options" and make sure that there are 10 riders, you can have
it on Easy, Intense, or Severe you can also have the invisible walls
on or off and you can have any number of laps, it doesn't matter as
long as you have 10 riders. For easiest results, have 6 laps, Easy,
Invisible Walls on, and you MUST have 10 riders. Go to Frankfurt,
Germany and win the race. Not much advice can be given. You get
Tokyo, Japan as a reward. Good Luck.

--- Unlocking Los Angeles, United States ---

Just follow all of the tips and do your best. You need to win the
race at Tokyo, Japan and you must get first. I don't have a lot of
advice for this one. Good Luck.

--- Unlocking Rome, Italy ---

You need to win 1st place at Los Angeles, United States with at
least 10 riders. I don't have any advice for this one. As a reward,
you'll get Rome, Italy.

--- Unlocking Paris, France ---

You need to win 1st place at Rome, Italy with at least 10 riders.
No advice for this one either. As a reward you get Paris France.

----- Unlocking MX Tracks -----

MX tracks are outside tracks, not in stadiums like SX tracks. There
are a lot more MX tracks than SX. You must win a race with 10 riders
in the previous track listed, to unlock the next track. You can have
it on Easy if you want, the only thing that matters is that you have
10 riders. One thing you will want to keep in mind, is if you are
having trouble accessing the MX Tracks list go to Race ---> Single
Race ---> once there, above the Rider Select it reads "MX125 MX250
MX500 SX125 SX250", push the control stick right or left until the
"MX125", "MX250", or "MX500" is high lighted. You shouldn't have
much trouble unlocking these.

--- Unlocking Lisbon, Portugal ---

You must win a race at Lyon, France with 10 riders. I recommend
racing the MX125, that's the easiest. On Lyon, France there are many
straight aways that end in a sharp turn, try to stay to the outside
of the track while making those turns, and apply the back brake
while making those sharp turns. As a reward, you'll unlock Lisbon,
Portugal.

--- Unlocking Glasgow, Scotland ---

You must win a race at Lisbon, France with 10 riders. The smaller
the bike, the easier it is, so I recommend using the MX125. On
Lisbon, France, try to stay at the center of the track. I wouldn't
try any fancy stunts, you'll pay if you crash, and you won't have a
lot of chances to boost. If you do crash, you will most likely be
passed by everyone and it won't be easy to get back in 1st, and
trust me, you don't want that. As a reward for winning the race,
you'll now have Glasgow, Scotland unlocked.

--- Unlocking Budapest, Hungary ---

You must win a race at Glasgow, Scotland with 10 riders. I recommend
using the smallest bike possible, since the MX125 is the smallest
bike, I recommend using it the most. When I finished this race, the
rider I chose and his bike was just cover in mud, if you're muddy
then you crash, you will re-appear clean again. So ending the race
being really muddy is a good thing. This one is not as hard as some
of the others, there aren't any big jumps, so don't do any fancy
stunts if you don't want it to result in a crash. Crashing in
Glasgow, Hungary isn't super bad like in some of the other tracks,
but it's not good, so do your best not to crash. As a reward, you'll
unlock Budapest, Hungary.

--- Unlocking Helsinki, Finland ---

You must win a race at Budapest, Hungary with 10 riders, when I say
"You must win a race at Budapest, Hungary with 10 riders" I don't
mean you need to win the race with them, because only one can win
the race, you need to win it racing against 10 riders. Like before,
the smaller the bike, the easier it will be to win the race, so use
the MX125 if you're having trouble or don't want a challenge. This
one can be a bit challenging, here there are a lot of big jumps, so
you are almost required to do stunts to get boost. There are parts
in the track where I can hardly use up my boost fast enough. Here,
you're not going to make it without boost. The thing I hate about
it is, I can't see over a jump to know how big of a jump it is, the
only solution is to get to know the track better. Do stunts whenever
you can, but DON'T wreck, the other riders aren't very forgiving to
those who wreck. If some of the riders are giving you trouble, crash
them, I know they won't appreciate that, but who cares what they
think. As a reward for winning this race with 10 riders, you'll
unlock Helsinki, Finland.

--- Unlocking Sao Paulo, Brazil ---

You must win a race at Helsinki, Finland with 10 other racers to
unlock Sao Paulo, Brazil. With Helsinki's unexpected super tight
turns, this is one messed up track, at least the turn don't occur
right after long straight aways, so you can get away with hitting
the wall and not crash. Since Helsinki is full of starp turns, you
definitely should use the MX125. In Helsinki, Finland, most jumps
are small, so you won't be doing many fancy stunts, however, there
are some large jumps, but not many, so do some fancy stunts when you
go off of the larger jumps. As a reward, you'll unlock Sao Paulo,
Brazil.

--- Unlocking Prague, Czech Republic ---

You must win a race at Sao Paulo, Brazil against 10 riders to unlock
Prague, Czech Republic. It's your decision what size of bike you
want, but for easiest results, I recommend using the MX125. Sao
Paulo, Brazil is full or sharp turns and is way too long. The other
riders generally tend to hang out in a group, and they almost never
crash unless you crash them. Since they are in a group, if you
crash, you will get passed by most of them. Even if you misturn,
you will get passed by quite a few of them. There are a few big
jumps, but not a whole lot, be sure to do fancy stunts when you get
the chance, but that won't be often. You might have a rider that is
right in front of you, or right behind you and passes you on each
turn, you need to crash him, if you don't, he'll never leave you
alone. Try to stay in the center of the track, and more importantly,
try to land in the center of the track after jumping. Good turning
is the key to winning this race. As a reward, you will unlock
Prague, Czech Republic.

--- Unlocking Milan, Italy ---

You must win a race at Prague, Czech Republic against 10 riders to
unlock Milan, Italy. This one is a little hard, I don't quite know
why, there aren't a lot of sharp turns, the only reason I can some
up with is that they are very good at the track. Race the SX125s for
easiest results. There aren't many opportunities to do fancy stunts
at Milan, Italy, there are a few spots and there is one really big
jump. Be sure to get a lot of points on that jump. Milan, Italy
isn't that long, it's not short, but not long. Milan, Italy is in
the middle in length, turns, jumps just about everything. One thing
to watch out for, is making sure to get a good turn on the last
turn, if you don't, you'll have a good chance of being passed by
someone on the last turn of the last lap, and believe me, there is
nothing more frustrating than that. As a reward, you'll unlock
Milan, Italy.

--- Unlocking Rotterdam, The Netherlands ---

You (well, it doesn't have to be you, a friend can do it, as a
matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be a friend, it can be one
of your enemies that hates you, as long as he'll do it for you) must
place 1st at a race in Milan, Italy against 10 riders, to unlock the
next track. I love Milan, Italy, it's such an easy track and it's
the perfect length, you shouldn't have much trouble with this one.
There are many big jumps, so do some stunts, it's not quite as bad
crashing on this track, but you still should avoid crashing as much
as possible. It's easy to lose all the other riders after the first
lap and stay ahead the rest of the race. I enjoyed this track, it's
one of my favorites. As a reward, you'll unlock Rotterdam, The
Netherlands.

--- Unlocking Barcelona, Spain ---

You must win a race at Rotterdam, The Netherlands against 10 other
riders, to unlock Barcelona, Spain. This is quite the unusual track,
on the first lap you actually cross the finish line twice before
getting to the second lap, the first lap is the longest. After the
first lap, the other laps are fine. The other riders appear more
spread out than usual. There is a spot that goes down hill, then
immediately turns then goes back up hill. You need to watch out for
that spot, because it can be hard to land. Be sure to stay away from
the starting gate while getting near to the finish line, if you get
to close to the starting gates, you'll reappear somewhere close and
loose your speed. As a reward for winning, you'll get Barcelona,
Spain (my least favorite track).

--- Unlocking Bern, Switzerland ---

You must win a race at Bercelona, Spain with 10 other riders to
unlock Bern, Switzerland. This is my least favorite track, it is
nothing but turns. If you're no good at cornering, this one will be
a challenge for you. You should definitely choose the MX125 for this
one. There are a few jumps, but no big ones. Not much advice for
this one. As a reward for winning the race, you'll unlock Bern,
Switzerland.

--- Unlocking Moscow, Russia ---

You must win a race at Bern, Switzerland with 10 other riders to
unlock Moscow Russia. My rider was COVERED in mud by the time I
finished this race. There are many straightaways at Moscow, Russia.
There are a lot of parts, that have you go up hill, then turn
around, then go down hill. I have little advice for this one, but
you shouldn't have much trouble beating it. As a reward, you'll
unlock Moscow, Russia.

--- Unlocking Los Angeles, USA ---

You must win a race at Moscow, Russia with 10 riders to unlock Los
Angeles, USA. Moscow, Russia has narrow spots that are much narrower
than any other track. Stay alert, you never know what will happen
next. That's all the advice I have for this one. As a reward for
winning, you'll unlock Los Angeles, USA. That's it, you did it, you
unlocked all the MX tracks.

----------------- 14. Challenge (before you start) -----------------

There are many things you should know before you start the
challenges. There are 7 different types of challenges. Hole Shot,
Placement, Stunt, Lap Time, Points, High Jump, Long Jump. It is not
random what rider you start out with, there are 7 different riders
you play as to unlock challenge matches. There is one rider for each
match type.

----- Hole Shot -----

Timed: No

You are awarded the Hole Shot if you are the first rider through the
first turn of the race. This type of Challenge will end as soon as
you reach the first turn.

Tip: Pull back (Control-Stick or D-Pad down) to perform a wheelie at
the start of the race and gain an extra boost of speed.

----- Placement -----

Timed: No

In this type of Challenge you must finish a complete race in a
designated position.

----- Stunt -----

Timed: Yes

Perform the designated stunt within the given time.

Tip: Refer to Stunt List (section 5) on to how to perform a given
stunt.

----- Lap Time -----

Timed: Yes

Finish a race lap faster than the designated time.

----- Points -----

Timed: Yes

Earn a set number of points by performing stunts within the
designated time limit.

Tip: Use combo stunts and multipliers to maximize you point award.

----- High Jump -----

Timed: Yes

Break the High Jump Record for a designated arena.

Tip: Remember to completely clear the High Jump Record bar and land
between the while lines in the landing area.

----- Long Jump -----

Timed: Yes

Break the Long Jump Record for a designated arena.

Tip: Remember to completely clear the Long Jump Record bar and land
between the while lines in the landing arena.

----------------- 15. Challenge (how to complete) ------------------

There are 36 different challenge matches that need completed to
unlock all the riders. There are three different divisions (Easy,
Medium, and Hard), each divisions has 12 challenge matches. Each
challenge match you complete, a 12th of a picture of the rider
you're going to unlock is revealed. Once all 12 12ths of the picture
are revealed, the picture turns from black and white to color and
unlocks that rider. It's miscellaneous what you are needed to do in
order to reveal the 12th of the picture. It's not just unlocking
riders that will make challenges worth while, it will also improve
your skill massively. We'll start with easy...

----- Easy -----

There are 12 boxes you need to complete to unlock Spike. These ones
are not very hard.

riders, and you're one of them. Do a wheelie (pull back on the

Challenge Objective: Perform a Fish Wrap within 15 seconds
Challenge Icon: Stunt
Time Limit: 15 seconds

You shouldn't have much trouble with this one, all you need to do is
perform a Fish Wrap in 15 seconds, it doesn't matter how long you
hold it, just so you do it and land right. Sounds easy, well it is.
You start out at Fish Bowl, you don't need to earn any boost. When
you start out, turn to your left and you will see a ramp (the
nearest ramp) perform a Fish Wrap off of that ramp, I did it in half
the time that was needed. To do a Fish Wrap, L + B,A (Standard),
R + B,A (Alternate 1), and R or L + B,A (Alternate 2). If you finish
it early, the time will keep going, so just relax until the time is
up. You don't have to hold it, just do it and land it before the
time limit is up, and you must have a successful landing.

Challenge Objective: Finish a lap in under 01:57 at the Hungarian
Grand Prix
Challenge Icon: Lap Time
Time Limit: 01:57

You must finish one lap at Budapest, Hungary under 1 minute, 57
seconds. There are no other riders, it's just you. This one is very
easy, I finished it in 1 minute, 20 seconds. You have plenty of
opportunities to do stunts which give you boost. It makes it easier
to boost, but it's not necessary, you can win this one without even
boosting. At the start, to go beyond the cones, it won't do you any
good. Do stunts when ever you can, but try to avoid crashing. This
one should come easy to you.

just turn left at the beginning and go off the nearest ramp and do
an El Cordobes. To do an El Cordobes, L + Y,A (Standard), R + Y,A

Challenge Objective: Finish a lap in under 01:12 in the SX125cc of
Japan (according to the INCORRECT instruction booklet)
Challenge Icon: Lap Time
Time Limit: 01:14

Whoa, that is definitely a glitch, in the instruction booklet it
says you must finish a lap in under 01:12 in the SX125cc, but that's
wrong, you must do it under 01:14. The game says 01:14, but the
instruction booklet says 01:12, which one is correct? The game, I
have no idea what they were thinking when they were putting that the
instruction booklet. Anyway, I tried it getting an intentional time
of 01:13 and I passed, so you have 2 seconds more than the
instruction booklet says you need. That's why you have this FAQ. My
fastest time was 01:06. There are 6 riders, you must do a lap under
01:14 at the SX track, Tokyo, Japan using the SX125cc. Unlike most
SX tracks, you have a lot of chances to do stunts, but this match
still can be won without boosting. It doesn't matter what place you
get, as long as you do a lap under the time limit.

Challenge Objective: Earn 800 points within 30 seconds
Challenge Icon: Points
Time Limit: 30 seconds

This one is easy, I can get over 10 times the points needed within
less than half of the time limit. You'll start out at Fish Bowl with
0 points and 30 seconds left. Go to your right and hit that dirt
ramp nearest to you, when going into the ramp, press forward on the
control-stick and right before you leave the ramp, pull back on the
control-stick.. Doing this will give you maximum air time. Once in
the air, quickly do a handstand combined with a backflip, then let
go, then do another handstand combined with a backflip, and do it
once more before landing. It doesn't have to be a handstand, it can
be any stunt, that's just the best way I know of to do this, as long
as you get over 800 points under 30 seconds (which isn't in the
least bit a challenge), you'll pass.

see a jump directly in front of you, turn so that you hit it dead

Challenge Objective: Break the High Jump Challenge Record in the
Flamin' Fountains arena
Challenge Icon: High Jump
Time Limit: 1 Minute

The current High Jump record is 114.83 Feet, and you need to break
that record in under 60 seconds. At the beginning of the race, make
a right and get some speed, but be sure to avoid the explosive
barrel and the jump that will throw you off course. When going into
the High Jump ramp, hold the control-stick forward, and just before
you leave the ramp, pull back on the control stick, doing so will
enable you to jump in a more vertical formation and you want that.
You must land your jump, to pass, otherwise it won't be counted. For
a good landing, do a backflip just before landing. When your tires
are not level, doing a backflip will level them out once you are
done with your backflip.

Challenge Objective: Finish a lap in under 01:02 in the MX250cc of
Spain
Challenge Icon: Lap Time
Time Limit: 01:02

Yet another glitch with the instruction booklet, it says in the
instruction booklet "Finish a lap in under 01:02 in the MX250cc of
Spain"and the game says "Finish a lap in under 01:02 in the SX250cc
of Spain". You race a SX track and so it says in the game, but in
the incorrect instruction booklet is says you race a MX track, but
you race a SX track. "What's the difference between a SX track and a
MX track?" might you ask, "MX" is short for "MototCross" and SX is
short for "SuperCross", a MX track is an outdoor track, and a SX
track is an indoor track usually in a stadium. This is a SX track
you are racing, not a MX track, as the instruction booklet lists it
as. Atari (the company that made Big Air Freestyle) definitely hired
the wrong people to make the instruction booklet for Big Air
Freestyle. Anyways, you will start out at the SX track, Barcelona,
Spain and you being the only rider. You must make a complete lap in
under 1 minute, 2 seconds. Just do stunts to earn boost and try to
avoid crashing as much as possible, that's all the advice I can
provide you with for this one. You did it! You unlocked Spike.

Challenge Objective: Finish a lap in under 01:47 in the Brazilian
Grand Prix
Challenge Icon: Lap Time
Time Limit: 01:47

You must complete a full lap at the MX track, Sao Paulo, Brazil with
6 riders under 1 Minute 47 seconds. There are a few big jumps, but
not a whole lot, be sure to do fancy stunts when you get the chance,
but that won't be often. Try to stay in the center of the track, and
more importantly, try to land in the center of the track after
jumping. Good turning is the key to winning this race. It doesn't
matter what position you finish, the only thing that matters is that
you complete a lap under 01:47. Good luck with that.

Challenge Objective: Perfrom a Superman within 15 seconds
Challenge Icon: Stunt
Time Limit: 15 seconds

You must perform a Superman in 15 seconds at Artic Air. This would
normally be an easy one if it weren't at Artic Air, but since it is,
you got to find a good ramp and make it quick. You will start out at
the top of a small hill, if you are quick enough, you can actually
do it while falling down from the ramp, but that can be a bit tricky
if you are new to the stunt. If you don't feel that you can do it
while falling from the ramp, once at the bottom of the hill, find
the nearest ramp and jump off of it while doing a Superman. You
might need to turn around to find a ramp. Don't use the big ramps
on each end of the arena, it is not likely that you will go off of
them and land in time. To perform a Superman, press L + Y,B
(Standard) R + Y,B (Alternate 1) R of L + Y,B (Alternate 2). Be sure
not to get it mixed up with the Superman Seat Grab.

race, you need to avoid crashing at ALL costs. If you crash on the

you can, you will need the boost. This track is little more than a
bunch of turns, if cornering isn't your main area, this one will be
nearly impossible for you. You will almost never had a steady
position, you will be passed frequently and will pass others quite a
bit, nobody stays where they are. I noticed that the other rider
tend to wreck more than they usually do. Don't wreck, wrecks are
very deadly and hard to recover from. Make an effort to stay in 1st,
that way if you drop a few positions toward the end, you will still

Challenge Objective: Win the MX250cc Hungarian Grand Prix

You must win a race at Budapest, Hungary against 10 other riders on

it is very hard. You must win, no other placements will do you any
good, 2nd is no better than 10th. Here, you're not going to make it
without boost. Sometimes maximizing your air time to do stunts isn't
the best way to go. If you are sailing through the air while you are
getting passed by numerous riders, that isn't good. You will have
plenty opportunities to do stunts, but DON'T crash while doing them.
Crashing is lethal, if you crash, you will get passed by many riders
and have an extremely hard time recovering from you crash. You will

There is a spot that goes down hill, then immediately turns then
goes back up hill. You need to watch out for that spot, because it
can be hard to land. Be sure to stay away from the starting gate
while getting near to the finish line, if you get to close to the
starting gates, you'll reappear somewhere close and loose your

Challenge Objective: Break the High Jump Challenge Record at the

high jump ramp, press forward on the control-stick and just before
leaving the ramp, pull back on the control stick. Now, you need a
good landing, so before landing, do a backflip. When your tires
aren't level, do a backflip and once the backflip is done, your
tires will be level again, that way you will get a good landing.
You'll need to practice up on this one.

---------------------------- 16. Glitches --------------------------

This is a list of glitches that the programmers most likely would
have fixed if they would have known about it.

----- Infinite Crashes -----

This one only works in Multiplayer. First, start a race (MX or SX),
and have one rider go ahead then turn around and crash into the wall
behind the starting gate. Secondly, do the same with the other
player. One rider should crash, then reappear in the same spot and
crash again and repeat the process infinitely. Once that starts,
you can just sit back and watch and not do anything.
To get out of this, just have one of the riders go straight.

----- Long Jump at Tar Pits -----

Go to a Freestyle race at Tar Pits, go on the long jump, but do it
slow enough to where you land on the platform with the cheerleaders.
They'll jump off so as to avoid you. Go to the end slowly, and you
should do a dive into a black hole, or crash and keep falling but
not go anywhere for a few seconds. If you go off the sides, there's
a chance you will get stuck and never be able to get out. Many weird
things happen here.

----- Instruction Booklet Mistake 1 -----

In Easy challenge 6 it says "Finish a lap in under 01:12 in the
SX125cc of Japan" but the game says "Finish a lap in under 01:14 in
the SX125cc of Japan". The game is correct and the instruction
booklet isn't.

----- Instruction Booklet Mistake 2 -----

This is a SX track
you are racing, not a MX track, as the instruction booklet lists it
as.

----------------------- 20. Contacting Me --------------------------

There are two ways that I prefer to be contacted, one way is to send
me a message at GameSpot, and the other way is on the Big Air
Freestyle, message board. If you find any grammar/spelling mistakes,
or anything that wasn't right please let me know and I'll fix it,
and I'll even add you to the credits list (with your permission).
Don't say my FAQ is no good without saying WHY. Don't send me
anything offensive, no insults, no foul language, nothing like that,
if you do, I will add you to my ignore list (at GameSpot) or report
you (message board). If you have any questions (not just on the
rider list, but anything on the game) feel free to ask me about it.
If it's a question about the Rider List, I may add it the section 3
(frequently asked questions). If you just want to thank me for this,
that's fine too. If you contact me via email, I will be very upset
and delete your message without even reading it.
