           I. HOW TO FISH

Fishing actually isn't too hard, after you fish for a while. However, to fish,
you must buy a fishing rod from Tom Nook's store. If he isn't selling one, just
go back another day when he is. Once you have your rod, all you need to do is
find a fish to catch. Look in the ocean (bottom of F-acres), in your town's
lake, in the river, or in holding ponds (miniature bodies of water not
connected to the river). If you see a shadow swimming around in the water, you
need to cast your rod out by pressing the A button. Try to cast it upstream
from the fish, so it will drift downstream and the fish will bite it. If the
fish doesn't bite, cast upstream and try again until it does bite. Fish nibble
and bite. A nibble means you feel a small rumble in your controller, and a bite
means your bobber goes underwater and there's a big rumble in your controller.
A fish will only go after your bait 5 times. After the 5th time, the fish will
swim away. So, if you feel 4 nibbles, get ready because the next thing you feel
will be the big bite! This doesn't mean that every fish you catch will nibble 4
times then bite, they can bite on the first try, so just pay attention a few
times and you'll get the feel of it.
Good luck fishing!

         II. THE GOLDEN ROD

Getting the golden rod is definitely a very hard task. To get it, you must
catch all 40 different types of fish in the game. Once you get the golden rod,
fishing becomes easier. The fish are somewhat "attracted" to the lure, so you
don't need to worry about where you cast the lure. Also, you get a neat
weathervane put on top of your house, a symbol of your devotion to fishing.
Once you catch your 40th fish, you need to go talk to all your villagers so
they can congratulate you! As long as you talk to at least one villager, the
weathervane will appear on top of your house when you quit and come back. Then,
just save & quit and Tortimer will appear in front of your house to present you
with your golden rod. Also, look up and you'll see a weathervane shaped like a
fish!
