[HOWT]
World Bowling will present you with several game options. First off the
bat is the gender of your player-character: female or male. Females work far
better with lower weight balls (7 or 9-lb) while males work better with 12-lb
or 15-lb bowling balls. The heavier a ball, the less control you get over it,
so it is a choice between control and power.
In an actual arena, you get to manipulate three variables on how to
throw the ball. The first one is fairly simple: where you are lining up on the
court. You can see where you are via the cursor on the right hand side of the
screen and how you are aligned.
The next two variables are a little bit more on the complex side, and
they are both gauges that you have to hit the A button at the right time as
the marker goes back and forth. The first is control: the higher Control you
have, the straighter your ball will be (while lower control will cause your ball
to veer and curve significantly). Secondly is power, which determines how fast
and how strong your throw is.
Control and power tend to be rather wonky. You could throw a slight
curve ball that hits near dead center with lots of force behind it, and it might
give you a split, but if you change your control ever so slightly you would get
three pins on one side. It requires a large amount of trial-and-error to get a
sense of how to throw, and even still the physics still tend to feel mostly
made-up-as-we-go-along.
To 'beat' the game, you have to go through the bowling alleys of six
countries. Starting off with China, you need to get a score of 200, up until
England, where you need 250.
This is also made somewhat more difficult still as there are no codes
or passwords, and if you fail in a country, you will be forced to restart all
the way back at Japan, so good luck if you attempt to play this game (instead
of just reading this guide for some other reason).
Other than that, the standard rules of bowling apply. After you make
a strike, the two shots on the next turn will be doubled (unless you fail to
hit a pin on the first shot), while after a spare the first shot on the next
turn will be doubled, and in the tenth turn you can get three shots pending that
you make a strike or spare.
The best way to do this is to go with the Strike-Spare-Strike routine
if trying to continuously get spikes is stressful. With Strike-Spare-Strike,
your Spares will still count as Strikes to the overall score, but you get
two shots instead of one.

I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling

Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the
link below. You do not have to buy anything right away, but (if you do not clear
browser cookies often) any items you buy within the next 90 days will count as a
'referral order' to me, meaning I get anywhere from 4-6% as a referral/affiliate
payment of what you ordered (ie. order $100 worth of stuff, I get $4-6 from
Amazon.com)
Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you
have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending
them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of
obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even
better, a manual) is superior to not. You can email me if interested at

Although I believe I have found everything there is to find in this
game, there is occasionally the possibility of some super secret level in an
obscure game that was never found because it was too obscure, or the like. If
you have anything that you feel needs to be includes, feel free to email me at
