Bionosaurs.  It contains information on how to play the game, a walkthrough,
and a mini-review.

II.    Background Story

Here is the background story from the instruction booklet:

"The Lost Land.  A world where time has no meaning - and evil knows no bounds.
Torn from a world long gone, the time traveling warrior Turok has found himself
thrust into a savage land torn by conflict.  An evil overlord known as "The
Campaigner" seeks to shred the fabric of time and rule the universe using an
ancient artifact known as "The Chronoscepter".  The Chronoscepter was shattered
thousands of years ago in an effort to keep it from falling into evil hands.
The Campaigner has constructed a massive focusing array which he plans to use
to magnify and pervert the power of the Chronoscepter in order to shatter the
barriers between the ages and rule the universe.  Turok has vowed to find the
eight pieces of the Chronoscepter spread throughout the Lost Land and put an
end to The Campaigner's evil plot.  The Campaigner has amassed a terrifying
army to stop him.  Turok must face not only ferocious Velociraptors, but vile
aliens and other terrifying beasts all bent on scorching him from the face of
the Earth.  The first rule of survival is know thy enemy, but the second edict,
know thyself, assumes greater importance as Turok struggles to understand the
fatal forces that have brought him here and what he must do in order to meet
the ever escalating threats that lurk wherever he looks....  To learn more you
must enter the world of TUROK: BATTLE OF THE BIONOSAURS."

PASSWORDS

You are given a password whenever you enter the Hub.  This password will allow
you to continue (mostly) where you left off.

What is saved:

-  Number of lives
-  Hub Access Level
-  Chronoscepter Pieces
-  Weapons

What is NOT saved:

-  Health
-  Life-Force
-  Ammo

GENERAL STRATEGIES

-  You can still switch weapons while the game is paused.

-  Every level has a Chronoscepter piece.

-  Every level except the last has three keys you must collect before you can
  enter the next level.

-  For levels 2-7, the exit is the same as the entrance.

-  When you die or re-enter a level from the Hub all Ammo, Health, Life-Force,
  and enemies will respawn.

-  Falling from too great a height is fatal...even if you're at full health.

-  If you are low on Health, Ammo, or Lives, you can stock up by repeatedly
visiting the same level over and over.

-  Level 2 is an excellent place to stock up on Health, there are Health
pickups located to the far left and right of the first area.

-  Ammo is plentiful, Health & Lives...not so much.  It's almost always better
to use a good weapon when traversing a stage rather than trying to conserve
ammo by using weaker weapons.  You'll just end up taking unnecessary damage.

-  Once you've collected at least one key in a level, you will NOT get a pass-
word until you collect the remaining two keys.

V.     Walkthrough

Note:  This walkthrough was created while playing on Easy difficulty

..............................................................................
A.  Hub Ruins

STARTING OUT

The first level gives you a good chance to get your feet wet (both figuratively
and literally).  Your main objectives are to collect the three keys to unlock
Level 2 and to reach the Hub but you should also take advantage of this fairly
straightforward stage to master Turok's skill set.

When you start the stage, to your right you'll notice a baddie patrolling the
edge of the screen.  Since he will ignore you if you keep your distance, we'll
take a moment to get used to your weapons.  You start out with your knife
equipped.  Press the B button to give it a swing.  Try a few more, note the
short range and the timing of the swing.  It's okay for a melee weapon but
fortunately you also have a bow and plenty of arrows.

Time for target practice!  Start off by equipping your bow (hold Select and
press Right).  You'll see a picture of the bow in the lower right corner.
Press and hold B to draw an arrow.  When the arrow is fully drawn the picture
in the bottom right corner will flash (only takes a second).  While holding B
you can use the control pad to aim left, right, up, or diagonally up to the
right or left.  Release B when you are ready to fire.  Take out the baddie to
your right with two shots.

Now that you're you know how to attack it's time to proceed with your quest.
Head right and you'll come across another baddie; dispatch him with a couple of
arrows.  Continue right and there'll be another baddie on a ledge above.  This
one has a gun: wait for him to fire, jump over the bullet, then quickly return
fire with an arrow.  He'll go down after two hits.

To the right you'll see an Arrow, collecting it will add 20 arrows to your
quiver.  If you make a running jump off the ledge you'll grab the ledge of a
small platform.  Press Up to climb up.  The two triangles you see are called
Life-Force.  The light colored one is worth 5 Life-Force while the dark one is
worth 10.  When you collect 100 Life-Force you earn an extra life...so
basically they're like coins in a Mario game.  Collect them then make a
running jump to the LEFT.

Position Turok so that is his to the left of the platform above you.  Now face
right and jump to grab onto the ledge.  Climb up then proceed across the bridge
to your right.  Take out the baddie with two arrows then make a running jump
off the ledge to your right.

Yikes, a velociraptor!  Don't panic, he can be taken down with just two arrows.
Take out his friend then climb the rocks by pressing Up.  Collect the
Life-Force then head back down to the cave.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #1

Enter the cave by pressing Up.  Head left and hop into the water.  While
swimming, Turok can only attack with his knife.  Kill the Leaper with a single
swipe of the knife.  Swim to the left edge of the pool and press A to jump out.
Kill the Raptor the continue left and climb up onto the ledge.  Jump into the
next pool, collect the Life-Force then kill the Leaper.  Swim to the left, grab
the Arrows then exit the pool.

You'll see some ammo and a strange wall.  Beyond it is a piece of the
Chronoscepter.  Unfortunately, you can't reach it now.  Make a note of this
location and come back later once you have the Grenade Launcher.

Jump up onto the ledge to your right.  Equip the knife to take out the Leaper.
Re-equip the bow and head right.  Take out the Raptor then dive into the pool.
Grab the Health then swim right.  Stab the leaper, collect the Life-Force, and
exit the pool.

Jump up onto the ledge to your left.  On the ledge to your upper right is
another Life-Force, grab it then continue left taking out the Raptor along
the way.  Swim across the pool and take out the two Leapers.  Use your bow
to kill the Raptor then exit the cave.

Immediately to your right is another Raptor.  After dispatching him hop up onto
the ledge to grab some Arrows and Health.  Jump up onto the ledge to your
upper left and quickly take out the baddie.  Grab the two Life-Forces then
hop back down.

To your right is another baddie.  This one is tricky because he's on a slope.
The easiest way to deal with him is to hop over his bullets and take him out
with your knife.

CHECKPOINT

Now comes the first real test of the game.  You have to make your way across
two small platforms.  They will fall after you land on them so jump fast!
Waiting for you on the ledge is another baddie with a gun, take him out with
the knife.  Then it's deja vu all over again, cross the platforms then take
out the baddie with your knife.  Before heading into the lava cave we need to
grab some more items.  Jump up onto the ledge.  That funny looking triangle
is actually the Checkpoint.  Grab it and you'll restart here when you die.

KEY #1

Kill the baddie above you then jump up onto the ledge.  Cross the bridge,
kill another baddie then cross the second bridge and kill another baddie.
See that funny looking circle with dots on the four corners?  That's a key.
Face left and press Down to hang off the ledge then press Down again to drop
onto the key.  Jump up onto the ledge and go back the way you came to reach
the entrance of the lava cave.

PISTOL

Switch to your knife and head inside the cave.  After the first jump you'll
encounter a Raptor, after the second Health.  After the third another Raptor
followed by two more falling platforms.  Take out the Leaper then head down to
grab the Ammo.  Watch out for the second Leaper.  After the next jump will be
another Leaper followed by a difficult jump.  Drop down, grab the Health,
then jump over to the next ledge to collect the Pistol.  Make the next two
jumps then kill the Raptor and collect the Life-Force.  Kill the Leaper then
collect the other Life-Force.

KEY #2

Jump onto the next ledge and kill the Leaper.  Look below you, there's the
level's second key.  Head right, kill the Raptor, drop down then kill the other
Raptor.  Make the jump to your left, grab the key, then continue right.  Make
the next jump, then traverse the two falling platforms.  After the next jump is
another Raptor.  Now stand in front of the Teleporter and press Up.

SWITCH

Continue right, taking out the baddie and the Raptor.  Jump up onto the pillar
then up onto the ledge above to collect Ammo and Arrows.  Drop back down and
continue right, taking out the Raptor along the way.  Dispatch the next baddie
then use the pillar to jump up and collect the Life-Force.  Keep going right,
past the small platform.  Take out the Raptor then continue uphill.  Take out
the two baddies then jump up onto the ledge.  Grab the Health then step on
the switch to activate the elevator.

KEY #3

Head left back to the elevator we passed earlier.  Go up then jump onto the
ledge and kill the baddie.  Jump up onto the next ledge to grab the level's
final key.  Drop down onto the previous ledge then drop down again and head
right and reactivate the switch.

Kill the baddie to the right of the switch then continue downhill.  Take out
the Raptor and the baddie.  Ride the elevator up then climb onto the ledge and
kill the baddie.  Jump off the ledge to your right so that you land past the
tall pillar.

THE HUB

To the right is another Teleporter and a Shotgun.  Unfortunately, like the
Chronoscepter piece, you need the Grenade Launcher to blast the stone on the
ledge so you can climb up and grab the Shotgun.  So for now, ignore the Shotgun
and enter the Teleporter.  I PROMISE you'll find another one at the beginning
of the next level!  Drop down and enter the cave to exit the level.  Be sure to
right down your password before continuing!

The Hub contains seven Teleporters, these will allow you to travel to levels
2-8.  Right now, only the Teleporter to level 2 is active.  You have to collect
the three keys in level 2 to activate level 3's Teleporter and so on.  Enter
level 2's Teleporter to continue your journey.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #1 (REVISITED)

Head left from the cave entrance, climb up the ledge and go through the
Teleporter.  You can use the Grenade Launcher to break the rock on the
ledge.  Grab the Shotgun then go over to the right and get the four Life-
Force tokens before heading left.  Keep going left until you reach the
Teleporter.

Keep heading left and make your way through the lava cave.  When you emerge
from the cave, continue left and make your way to the next cave.  Head
through the cave until you come to the rock wall on the left.  Destroy it with
your Grenade Launcher then grab the Chronoscepter piece and two Life-Force
tokens.  Now retrace your steps and head back to the Hub.

..............................................................................
B.  The Jungle

SHOTGUN

Told you!  Immediately to your right is a Shotgun, grab and equip it.  Now
head right and use your new toy to vanquish the Raptor with a single shot.
Take out the next Raptor then take out the baddie on the ledge before you enter
the cave.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #2

Once inside, continue heading right.  Climb onto the ledge, slay the Raptor,
and collect the Life-Force.  Keep going right and take out the Raptor.  You'll
see a Chronoscepter Piece, but it's protected by spikes.  The spikes can be
destroyed by the Grenade Launcher found in level 4 so we'll have to wait a
while before we can claim this piece.  Climb onto the ledge and hop over the
spikes.  Keep heading right.  You'll encounter one final Raptor and some Ammo
before you reach the Teleporter.

KEY #1

Keep heading right.  There's a sniper on the roof of the building, take him out
with your Shotgun.  Enter the building to grab a Life-Force then exit and
continue to the right.  Take out the baddie then enter the building.  Fire
IMMEDIATELY to take out the baddie inside before you take damage.  Grab
the Shells then exit.  You can climb onto the roof of this building to collect
a couple of Life-Force tokens.  Then hop down and jump into the water to
collect Health and Life-Force.

Enter this building, like before there is a baddie waiting to ambush you.  Grab
the arrows and exit.  Keep heading right, take out the baddie on the ground and
the sniper on the roof before you enter the building.  Be prepared to jump over
the baddie's shot then take him out with your Shotgun.  Grab the level's first
key then exit.  Take out the baddie to your right then climb onto the roof to
collect Ammo and Life-Force.  Hop down and go right.

Ignore the Teleporter for now and continue heading right.  Take out the next
two baddies and enter the building.  Shoot the ambusher, grab the Ammo, and
exit.  Take out the baddie to your right then climb onto the building to grab
a Health.  Hop down and continue right.  Take out the sniper on the next
building then enter.  Gasp!  No ambush???  Grab the Life-Force then exit.
Head right and enter the Teleporter to the Temple.

TEMPLE

Head left.  Jump the gap with the spikes then hop up onto the ledge.  Descend
down into this chasm via the ledges.  To your left is another stone wall that
you'll need the Grenade Launcher to destroy.  To your upper right is a ledge
with a Switch.  Climb up and activate it, then drop down and go through the
door.

Hop into the water.  Kill the two Leapers and grab the Life-Force.  Then kill
another Leaper and grab the Arrows.  Two Leapers later you'll encounter a
Health icon.  Exit the pool and enter the doorway.  Switch to the Knife then
head left and hop over the spikes.  Kill the Leaper with your Knife then
jump up onto the platform above you.  To your upper right will be a ledge with
a Leaper and a Switch.  Kill the Leaper, equip the Shotgun, and hit the Switch.
Hop back down and kill the Baddie and head left to the Teleporter.

KEY #2

Kill the Leaper with your Knife then switch back to the Shotgun to kill the
next two baddies.  Hang down off the ledge then drop down.  You'll be back
at the entrance to the Temple.  Head to the far left and enter the Teleporter.
Grab the key then go back through the Teleporter.  Head to the right and exit
the Temple via the Teleporter.

CHECKPOINT & AUTO SHOTGUN

Head left and go through the Teleporter we skipped earlier, it will transport
you to the cliffs above the beginning of the level.  Hop over to the ledge on
your right.  Take out the baddie and drop down to the wooden logs to collect
the Life-Force and Arrow.  Climb back onto the ledge and jump over to the next
one on your right.

Take out the baddie, grab the Life-Force, then take out the next baddie.  Make
a leap of faith to the far right to reach the next ledge.  Climb up and quickly
dispatch the baddie.  Go to the right edge and drop down onto the wooden logs.
Drop down onto the next set of logs then down onto the ledge to collect the
Checkpoint and Auto Shotgun.

ASSAULT RIFLE

Drop down onto the ground.  No, you're not imagining things, we're back at
the beginning of the level.  We are going to have to backtrack a bit to collect
the final key.  Fortunately all the baddies you've killed will stay dead
(provided you don't die, of course).

Head right and enter the cave.  Continue right through the cave and enter the
Teleporter.  Continue right past the buildings and water and enter the
Teleporter.

Jump onto the ledge to your right then drop down onto the wooden logs.  Drop
down off the left side of the logs onto another set of logs.  Kill the baddie
then jump onto the ledge to your left.  Enter the cave.

Dive into the water, take out the Leaper and collect the Life-Force.  Climb
out the water and jump into the next pool.  Kill the Leaper then grab the
Assault Rifle.  Continue swimming right, kill the Leaper and collect the Ammo.

KEY #3

Hop out of the water and switch to your knife.  Drop down and kill the Leaper.
Switch back to the Shotgun then climb up and enter the passage way.  Drop down
off the left edge onto the wooden logs.  Drop down onto the next set to the
right, you'll see the final key to your left.

HUB

After grabbing the key, drop down to the right and grab the Health.  Then head
left and make your way back to the Teleporter leading to the Hub.

Take a moment and make a few more quick visits to level 2 to stock up on
Health and Ammo before moving on to level 3.

..............................................................................
C.  Ancient City

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #3

Make sure you have the Shotgun equipped then head right.  Shoot the Beetle then
enter the doorway.  Head right and take out the baddie before climbing up on
the ledge.  Grab the Health then take out the two Baddies.  Hit the Switch and
go through the Teleporter.

Hop into the pool, take out the Leaper, and grab the Life-Force.  Continue
swimming right, taking out the Leapers as you go.  Be sure to grab the Health.
At the rightmost edge of the pool you'll come across yet another piece of the
Chronoscepter.  Yep, you guessed it...you'll need to find the Grenade Launcher
in level 4 before you can reach it.

CHECKPOINT

Climb out of the pool and go through the Teleporter.  Be prepared to jump over
the baddie's bullet then put him down with your Shotgun.  Grab the Ammo and
Checkpoint then make a flying leap onto the roof of the building to your left.
Take out the baddie then head through the Teleporter.

KEY #1

Jump over the baddie's bullet then take him out.  Proceed left and hop over the
gap and shoot the baddie.  This next bit is a little tricky...you need to hang
off the right ledge then let go and hit the ledge with the key.  After grabbing
the key climb up onto the ledge to your left then jump up onto the roof.  Take
out the remaining baddie then hang down on the left ledge to grab the Ammo.
Pull yourself up then jump over to the next roof on the left.

PULSE RIFLE

Climb up and shoot the baddie then grab the Clip (looks like a tree branch?).
Continue left hop onto the next roof.  Shoot the baddie and keep moving.  Grab
the Ammo and shoot the next baddie.  Jump onto the next roof, this one has
two guys with guns.

At the edge of the roof you can hang down then drop over to the right to reach
the ledge with two Life-Force tokens.  To the right of this ledge is another
one with a Pulse Rifle!

Head to the next roof to the left, there's an Auto Shotgun here.  Keep heading
left and take out the baddie.  Before attempting to hop onto the next roof you
should take out the sniper.  Take out the next baddie and jump over to the next
roof, you'll hit the Health on the way over.  Take out the baddie with the ax
then the one with the gun.  Hop onto the final roof on the left and go through
the Teleporter.

KEY #2

Drop down to your left and take out the baddie.  Head left and enter the door.
Dive into the pool and swim down and to the left.  Stab the Leaper and grab the
two Life-Force icons.  Swim up and to the right and kill the Leaper then swim
down and to the left to collect the Health.

Now swim all the way to the right, taking out a couple of Leapers in the
process.  Once you hit the wall swim to the upper right of the cavern to
reach the ledge with the level's second key.  Now swim back to the doorway.
If you feel so inclined, you can make a small detour and swim up into the
gap we bypassed before in order to collect three Life-Force tokens and some
Shells.

MINIGUN

After coming out of the doorway, kill the baddie to your left and head down the
steps.  Kill the Beetle at the bottom then head right.  Grab the Arrows, kill
the Beetle, grab the Life-Force, kill the baddie, and finally, grab the Health
(what we ACTUALLY came for).  Now head back left to the climbing stones.  Kill
the Beetle then climb all the way up.  Kill the sniper then hang off the ledge
to the right to grab the Life-Force.  Continue left and take out another baddie
before climbing up the ledges to reach the Teleporter on the roof.

Head right, taking out three baddies along the way.  At the end you'll find
the Minigun and a Switch.  Grab the new weapon, hit the Switch, and exit the
way you came.

Climb down off the roof then make a long jump to the ledge to your left.
Enter the Teleporter.

LONGHUNTER

Grab the Ammo and take out the baddie before you climb onto the ledge.  Take
out two more baddies then switch to the Minigun...you're gonna need it for the
game's first boss battle!  When you're ready, drop down to face the Longhunter.

The Longhunter's pattern is very straightforward, he'll kneel before firing
a three round burst.  Stay on the far left and pepper him with the Minigun.
When he kneels get ready to jump over his bullets.  If he gets too close you
can jump over him when he kneels but I find it easier just to take the hit
and stay on the left side.  After hitting you he'll slowly walk to the right
and won't fire at you until he reaches the right side.  When you run out of
Minigun ammo switch to the Pulse Rife.

KEY #3

When you defeat the Longhunter he'll drop the level's final key.  Grab it and
head for the exit.  Be sure to switch back to the Shotgun before continuing,
you don't want to waste Pulse Rifle bullets on flunkies!

HUB

Drop down off the roof and head left taking out the baddie then a Beetle.  Just
keep heading left till you reach the Teleporter back to the Hub.

..............................................................................
D.  The Ruins

GRENADE LAUNCHER

It's about time...in this game the Grenade Launcher is probably second only to
the Chronoscepter in terms of importance.  Make sure you have the Shotgun
equipped then start heading left.

The first enemy you'll encounter is a Dimetrodon, these guys take two Shotgun
blasts to kill.  Climb up the ladder and kill the Dragonfly, then collect the
Arrows and Pulse Rifle rounds.  Drop down and continue left.

A Dimetrodon is patrolling the ledge at the top of the next ladder.  The best
way to deal with him is to stand under the ladder and look up by press Up +
Select.  When he is right above you, release Select and shoot him with B.

Climb up the ladder then jump over to the ledge on your left.  Here you'll
encounter a High Priest, quickly take him out with three Shotgun blasts.
Stand near the left edge.  See the Dragonfly?  You need to take him out with
your Shotgun by firing down and to the left.  Once he's dead take a flying leap
over to the ledge on your left.  You need to wait to jump until you're going
over the edge, if you come up short you'll die!

On this ledge are two Life-Force tokens and a Grenade Launcher!  Grab the
goodies then hang over the right side of the ledge and drop down.  Kill the
Dimetrodon then head left to collect some Health.  When you're ready head
right and go back through the exit to the Hub.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECES 1-3

Now that you finally have explosives, it's as good as time as any to revisit
the first three levels and collect the Chronoscepter pieces we passed by.  When
you're done head back to level 4.

KEY #1

From the starting point of the Ruins head right.  When you reach the first
stone ladder, kill the Dimetrodon on the ledge overhead then climb up.  Grab
the Shells then head back down and kill the Dragonfly.

Keep going right, killing the Dimetrodon on your way.  Climb up the stone
ladder and grab the Minigun.  Walk over to the left edge and kill the Dragonfly
then make a flying leap to the ledge on the left.  Go through the Teleporter.

Go left and kill the Beetle.  Dive into the water, kill the Leaper, and grab
the Clip.  Swim left, kill the 2nd Leaper, and collect the Life-Force.  Climb
out of the water, kill the Beetle, then go through the doorway.

Head left and kill the Beetle.  To the left of the doorway is a Leaper and a
Health pickup and some Ammo.  Go through the doorway and kill the High Priest.
Grab the key then exit.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #4

Head all the way to the far right, taking out a Beetle and a Leaper in the
process.  Go through the rightmost doorway.  To your left is a wall that
can be destroyed with the Grenade Launcher.  Destroy it and claim the 4th piece
of the Chronoscepter.

CHECKPOINT

Head right and kill a couple of Beetles before diving into the water.  Grab the
Life-Force and kill the Leaper then swim right.  Kill another Leaper and grab
another Life-Force token before climbing out.  Grab the Arrows and kill the
Leaper then go through the Teleporter.

Run right and kill the Beetle.  Beyond him is a High Priest.  On the ledge
above him is a Life-Force token.  Keep going right, just beyond the Dimetrodon
is the Checkpoint.

KEY #2

Keep going right.  Kill another Beetle and another High Priest.  Up on the
2nd ledge is a Health pickup.  Keep going right and kill another Beetle and
another High Priest.  Beyond the Dimetrodon is a ledge with a Life-Force
token and a second ledge with Shells.  Drop down to the LEFT of this ledge
and kill the Dimetrodon then continue going right.  Kill another Beetle and
Dimetrodon then continue right.  After the next Beetle is a ledge with Ammo
and Arrows.  Kill the Dimetrodon then climb up onto the next ledge to get the
Life-Force token.  Kill the Beetle and go past the Teleporter to find a High
Priest and two Life-Force tokens.  Grab them then head through the Teleporter.

This next part is REALLY tricky.  Jump over to the ledge on your left.  Next
jump over to the left then QUICKLY swim to the left and out of the water.  Let
yourself fall a bit then head back into the water.  Your goal is to land on the
platform underneath the Life-Force Token.  This is where the second key is
found.

KEY #3

Jump back into the water and let the current carry you to the top.  If you time
it right, you can perform a jump just as you exit the water.  Jump over to the
platform on the left to grab another Minigun and Grenade Launcher.  Then jump
back into the water and jump onto the platform on the right.  Go through the
Teleporter.

Jump onto the platform on your right then onto the next one.  The third
platform has a Pulse Rifle.  Jump onto the fourth platform then onto the fifth
and grab the Assault Rifle.  There is a small platform below you to the right,
press Select + Down to get a bead on it then drop down.  Now make a flying leap
to the right to reach the Teleporter.  Grab the key then drop down.

HUB

Now you just have to work your way back to the entrance.  Head left for a while
then go through the Teleporter.  Head left and go into the doorway.  Head left
and go through the SECOND doorway (the one on the little hill).  Now head right
and go through the Teleporter.  Now you just have to drop down and head left,
the next Teleporter you come to is the Exit.

..............................................................................
E.  The Catacombs

QUAD ROCKET LAUNCHER

This is the first level where the Grenade Launcher is used for more than just
collecting Chronoscepter pieces.  Fortunately for us, there's a Grenade
Launcher directly to the right of the entrance.  Grab then start heading left.
Grab the Shells and continue going left.  Take out the baddie then jump over
the spikes.  Take out the baddie on the ledge to your upper left then climb
up there.  Now switch to your Grenade Launcher and shoot the rock to your
upper left.  The easiest way to hit it is to stand next to the ledge and
while facing the rock aim up and fire with a fully charged shot.  Once the
ledge is clear, climb up and activate the Switch.

Head right and climb up onto the ledge to your upper right.  Switch to your
Knife to kill the Leaper then grab the Life-Force token.  Keep heading past the
inactive Teleporter and grab another Life-Force token and kill another Leaper.
Drop down and kill one more Leaper before going through the Teleporter.

Switch to the Grenade Launcher and blast the rock on the ledge.  Again, the
easiest way to hit it is by standing right next to the wall and aiming straight
up.  Climb up then shot the next rock.  Jump up to grab the Quad Rocket
Launcher.  Climb up to the top to grab the Clip then jump over onto the ledge
to your left.

ALIEN WEAPON

Climb up to the top then jump over to the ledge on your right.  Grab the Health
and keep heading right.  Drop down and go past the inactive Teleporter.  Jump
over the gap and grab the Life-Force.  Edge over to the right and kill the High
Priest before attempting to hop over the spikes.  Hit the Switch then head left
and go through the now active Teleporter.

Crawl into the tunnel and kill the Leapers with your Knife (you don't have to
switch to the Knife, you'll automatically use it).  You'll be trapped in the
next room while the boulders fall.  They will follow you, the easiest way to
avoid them is to run from one side of the room to the other.  After a few
seconds the boulders will stop and you'll be allowed to continue.  Enter the
crawlspace and kill the Leapers.  Enter the Teleporter in the next room.  Head
right to grab a Health pickup and an Alien Weapon.  Drop down and hit the
Switch then climb up onto the platform on your right.  Kill the baddie then
head right.  Hang off the ledge then drop down to the Teleporter.

CHECKPOINT

Head right and dodge some more boulders.  Crawl into the crawlspace, there are
three Leapers to take care of.  Dodge some more boulders then go through the
Teleporter.  Head right and hit the Checkpoint.

KEY #1

Switch to the Knife and kill the Leaper then switch to the Shotgun to take out
the baddie.  Switch back to the Knife then hang off the ledge and drop down.
Kill the two Leapers then switch to the Assault Rifle to kill the High Priest.
Behind him you'll find the first key.

KEY #2

Head right and climb up the steps, at the top is a Life-Force token and a
Minigun.  While crossing the bridge, crawl to avoid the swinging pendulums.
Go through the Teleporter.

Switch to the Knife and kill the Leaper then jump up and grab the Clip.  Crawl
into the crawlspace and kill the Leaper.  When you emerge, kill the Leaper then
switch to the Shotgun to kill the baddie.  Grab the Life-Force and keep heading
right.  Grab the next Life-Force then switch to the Knife to kill the Leaper.
Quickly switch to the Assault Rifle to take out the High Priest.

Use the Grenade Launcher on the rock blocking the ledge then climb up.  Repeat
with the next rock.  Climb to the top and grab the Shells.  Now destroy the
rock blocking the ledge to your left, it's easier to hit with the Quad Rocket
Launcher than the Grenade Launcher.  Jump over and climb up to the Teleporter.

Head left and collect the Pulse Rifle Ammo.  Then equip the Minigun and prepare
to face the game's second boss.

MANTIS

Mantis has a two-part pattern.  While on the ground he'll approach, pause, then
fire a volley of three shots then approach again.  When he gets to the edge of
the screen he'll fly up to the ceiling, fire three shots, then drop down.

Mantis is actually pretty easy once you learn his pattern.  Shoot him with the
Minigun, when he fires his three shots jump over them.  When he gets close,
press up against the edge so he'll miss you when he flies to the ceiling.
Wait for him to fire the three orbs then quickly run to the opposite edge of
the screen.  Repeat till he goes down.

Once Mantis is dead grab the key, hit the Switch, and go through the
Teleporter.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #5

You're actually at the Teleporter above the Entrance that we skipped earlier
because it was inactive.  Head right and drop down to the Teleporter.  Climb
up to the top and head right.  Go past the Teleporter and drop down.  THIS
is the Teleporter you want to go through.

Head right, just like before you need to crawl when crossing the bridge to
avoid the pendulums.  Grab the Life-Force, kill the baddie, then grab the
next Life-Force.  Jump over to the ledge on your right.  Kill the High Priest
then climb up to get the Chronoscepter piece.

KEY #3

Jump back over to the ledge on the left then hang down and drop.  Drop down and
grab the Ammo then enter the crawlspace.  Kill the Leapers with your Knife as
you make your way to the Teleporter.  Kill the baddie and grab the final key.

HUB

Now make your way back to the Hub.  Go back through the Teleporter and head
right.  Climb up the ledges then head left, making sure to crawl under the
pendulums.  Enter the Teleporter.  Climb up and head left.  Go past the
Teleporter and drop down to the Teleporter at the bottom, this is the one to
go through.  Head left.  Go past the Teleporter then drop down and head right.
Jump over the spikes.  The next Teleporter you come to is the exit.

..............................................................................
F.  Treetop Village

KEY #1

Begin by running off the ledge to your right.  Kill the Beetle and walk off the
ledge to your left, try to land underneath the "damage" on the wall, your goal
is to land on the logs beneath you.  Leap onto the ledge to your left.  Drop
down and grab the key then climb back up and go into the cave.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #6

Inside the cave you'll find three Life-Force tokens, a Pulse Rifle, an
Automatic Shotgun, and a Grenade Launcher.  Grab the goodies then exit through
the cave on the right.

Drop down your right and slay the Beetle.  Continue right then drop down onto
the logs.  Drop down onto the ledge below and grab the two Life-Force tokens.
Kill the Dragon Fly then make a flying leap onto the ledge to your left.  Hang
off the ledge and drop down to grab the Life-Force.  To your right is some
Health.  Once you've collected them climb back up and continue to the left.

Kill the Dragon Fly then make a flying leap onto the ledge to your left.  Climb
up and quickly shoot the Beetle.  Run off the ledge to your left to grab the
Alien Weapon then climb up to grab the Ammo and Arrows.  Now head back to the
RIGHT and drop down onto the logs again.

From the logs make a flying leap to your left, making sure to avoid the Dragon
Fly.  Kill the Dragon Fly on your left then make your way across the three sets
of logs.  Drop down the left side of the third set of logs and enter the cave.

Make your way to the right, slaying bugs as you go.  There's a clip midway
across the "mound".  Keep heading right then destroy the rock with your Grenade
Launcher.  Grab the Fusion Cannon and the Chronoscepter Piece then head through
the exit.

Kill the Beetle to your left then climb up onto the ledge to your right.  Kill
the Dragon Fly then head right.  Jump over and grab the Shotgun Shell, don't
worry, the spikes look dangerous but they actually won't hurt you!
Drop down and kill the Beetle then crawl on your belly to reach the second key
and two Life-Force tokens.

KEY #3

Head left.  Make sure you grab the Mini Gun and the Health then go through the
teleporter to reach the eponymous Treetop Village.

Hang off the ledge to your right so you can collect the Life-Force token then
pull yourself back up.  Head left and make a flying leap over the gap.  Kill
the Foot Soldier then keep going left.  Kill the next foot soldier then enter
the hut.  Quickly shoot the Foot Soldier, collect the two Life-Force tokens,
then exit the hut.

Go right and climb up the ladder.  Kill the Foot Soldier then climb up onto the
ledge.  Collect the Life-Force token then make a flying leap onto the ledge to
your right.  Kill the two Foot Soldiers then enter the hut.  Quickly take out
the High Priest then hit the switch.

Exit the hut and head left.  Make a flying leap to the ledge on your left then
head up the ladder.  Kill the baddies outside the hut then go inside to grab
a Mini Gun, Life-Force, and Health.

Exit the hut and head right.  Make a flying leap onto the ledge to your right
then kill the Foot Soldier.  Hang off the ledge to collect the Arrows then pull
yourself up and head up the ladder.  Kill the Foot Soldier then head through
the teleporter on your right.  Head right and kill the Foot Soldier before
entering the hut.  Kill the two baddies inside then collect the Pulse Rifle

Foot Soldier before heading left.  Jump up onto the ledge to your upper right
then make a flying lead to the ledge on your left.  Kill the High Priest on
your left then kill the High Priest before heading up the ladder and dealing
with another High Priest.  Jump over onto the ledge to your right and kill the
three baddies before entering the hut.  Take out the High Priest then hit the
switch.

Exit the hut and head left.  Jump onto the ledge to on your left then climb
down the ladder.  Go through the teleporter then jump onto the ledge to your
lower left.  Kill the Beetle then head left.  Jump up onto the ledge to your
upper left then go through the teleporter to reach the Hub.

..............................................................................
G.  Lost Land

CHECKPOINT

Head right and you'll immediately come across a new enemy unit: the Alien
Infantry.  Don't panic, they just pace back and forth like Raptors.  After
he's dead, climb up and kill an actual Raptor.  Take a flying leap off the
right edge to reach the next platform.

Here you'll come across a Killer Plant.  Killer Plants just sit there and
can be killed with a single shot from any of your weapons.  Seriously.  Take
him out then grab the Health on your right.  Kill the Raptor on the ledge
above then climb up to collect a pair of Life-Force tokens.

Head left back the way you came and hop down onto the lower platform.  Hang off
the left side of this platform and drop down while holding left.  Take out the
Alien Infantry then kill his friend to the right.  Keep going right and kill
the Raptor.  Keep going right.  Kill the Alien Infantry and the Killer Plant on
the ledge above you before climbing up.

Cross the bridge then hop over to the platform to your right.  Ignore the Alien
Infantry below and pull yourself up onto the next ledge.  Kill the Killer Plant
above then climb up and enter the teleporter.  Climb up onto the ledge to your
left and hit the checkpoint.

KEY #1

Climb down and make your left across the moving platforms.  You want to jump
off while at the highest point.  When you reach the next cliff quickly kill the
Dimetrodon.  Climb down a the left edge to collect a Quad Rocket Launcher then
continue left across the moving platform to reach the first key.

KEY #2

Head right and make your way back to the teleporter.  Hang off the right ledge
and drop down onto the moving platform to collect a Fusion Cannon.  Climb back
up to the ledge with the teleporter and make a flying leap to the right then
quickly take out the Attack Robot.  Keep heading right and make another flying
leap to the next platform.  Take out the Alien Infantry and head right.  Kill
the next Alien Infantry then drop down to collect two Life-Force tokens, to
your left is a Health pickup.  Carefully make your way right across the moving
platforms.  When you reach the next platform, kill the Dimetrodon then make a
flying leap onto the platform to your right.  Slay the Dimetrodon below then
hop down and collect the Life-Force token.  Head right and jump onto the next
platform.  Quickly kill the Alien Infantry then head right.  Jump up onto the
next platform and enter the cave.

Jump across the gap to the platform on your right.  Take out the Attack Robot
then collect the Particle Accelerator.  Jump onto the next platform and kill
the Alien Infantry.  Finally, hop over the small gap and collect the second
key.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #7

Head back the way you came and exit the cave.  Take out the Attack Robot below
then drop down.  Make your way across the moving platforms then enter the
teleporter.  Hold Left and run off the platform, you should grab onto the ledge
to your lower left.  Pull yourself up and make a flying leap to the left of the
teleporter to collect some Pulse Rifle ammo and a Particle Accelerator.  Jump
back onto the platform to your right and go through the teleporter.

Jump down onto the ledge to your lower left, making sure not to hit the Killer
Plant.  Take out the plant then head left.  Take out the Attack Robot then hop
down onto the ledge to the lower left and collect the Life-Force token.  Drop
down to the ledge to the lower right and collect another Life-Force token.  Hop
down onto the ledge to your lower right and kill the Killer Plant then
carefully kill the Attack Robot on the ledge below.  Drip down onto the ledge
to your lower left then drop down again and enter the cave.

Jump over to the ledge on your left to grab two Life-Force tokens and some
ammo.  Jump back over to the right then jump onto the ledge to the right of
the cave entrance and pick up the Health.  Kill the Alien Infantry on the ledge
above then climb up.  Head right and wait at the gap for the Attack Robot to
appear on screen.  Take him out then hop over to the next ledge.  Stand in the
middle of the ledge, while facing right shoot straight up with the Grenade
Launcher to clear the way to the seventh Chronoscepter Piece.

KEY #3

Head left and make your way back to the cave entrance.  Exit the cave and climb
up onto the ledge above you.  Instead of climbing up onto the next ledge, make
a flying leap off the right edge of the current platform.  You'll land on a
tiny platform with ammo.  You can hand off the left side of this ledge to grab
the Life-Force token.  Jump onto the ledge to your upper right and grab some
more ammo.  Drop off the right edge and kill the Raptor on the platform below.
Kill the Killer Plant on the ledge below then hop down.  On the ledge to your
lower right is an Attack Robot, take him out by standing on the leftmost edge,
jumping over his shots then tagging him with your Grenade Launcher.  Hop down
then hang off the right edge and drop down to collect the key.

HUB

Climb up onto the ledge above then jump up onto the ledge to your upper right.
Run off the leftmost edge and kill the Attack Robot.  Make a flying leap off
the leftmost edge.  Kill the Killer Plant then take out the Attack Robot on the
ledge above.  Climb up onto the ledge above then hop up onto the next ledge and
enter the cave.

Jump over to the ledge on your left and take out the Alien Infantry.  Make a
flying leap to your left to collect the Mini Gun and reach the next ledge.
Take out the next Alien Infantry then jump over and go through the teleporter.

Hang off the right edge and drop down.  Kill the Killer Plant then collect the
two Life-Force tokens.  Drop down and run right to reach the teleporter to the
Hub.

..............................................................................
H.  Final Confrontation

This is it!  The last stage is very straight forward but is an endurance run
chock full of enemies.  Make sure to stock up on health and ammo beforehand.

CHECKPOINT

From the entrance head right, slaying tons of baddies along the way.  After
a (long) while you'll reach the first teleporter.  After you go through the
teleporter head right taking out more baddies as you go.  Be care as you
exit the crawlspace, a Cyborg will be waiting for you.  At the far right
of the level is a small crawlspace with a Quad Rocket Launcher and a Life-
Force token.  After you grab these climb up and head left.  After the next
crawlspace is yet another Cyborg waiting to ambush you.  At the far left you'll
find the next teleporter.

After you enter the teleporter you'll find a Grenade Launcher.  Grabbing the
Health token is not as tricky as it seems, you can grab it and fall straight
down to the ledge with the Life-Force token without dying.  When you reach the
bottom, kill the Cyborg on your right then use the Grenade Launcher to destroy
the column on your left.  Inside you'll find an Attack Robot, a Fusion Cannon,
and two Life-Force tokens.

After grabbing them head right.  After the next crawlspace is yet another
Cyborg (see the pattern?).  Keep heading right and go through the teleporter.
Head right, take out the Attack Robot and Cyborg then go through the next
teleporter.  Hit the Checkpoint, grab the Health, and ammo.  Now get ready to
face the mighty T-Rex!

T-REX

The T-Rex has very simple pattern, he'll take two steps then fire three
fireballs.  The problem is that he's pretty accurate with his shots!  The
trick is to jump back and to the left when he fires the first fireball.  This
will cause him to aim the 2nd fireball high.  Then you just have to run TOWARDS
him to avoid the 3rd.  When he reaches the far left of the screen he won't fire
so you'll have extra time to get a shot off.  The T-Rex will only take damage
if you hit him from the arms up.

My weapon of choice here is the Fusion Cannon.  It takes a LONG time to charge
so you have to make sure you're ready to get the @#$% out of Dodge once you get
your shot off.  You can get in a free hit at the beginning of the battle.  As
soon as the music changes, aim up and to the right and hold B.  The INSTANT
you start to flash release B and RUN to the left to avoid his attack.  It takes
five hits from the Fusion Cannon to make the T-Rex retreat.

CHRONOSCEPTER PIECE #8

After beating the T-Rex head right to claim the final Chronoscepter Piece.
Note that you have only THREE shots with the Chronoscepter so you need to
resist the urge to try it out!  Head through the teleporter and stock up on
ammo.  When you're ready, head through the teleporter for the final showdown
with The Campaigner.

THE CAMPAIGNER

The Campaigner is SUPER easy...provided you have at least three health and
the Chronoscepter.  His pattern consists of teleporting then either firing
three projectiles or running at you.  All you need to do is stand still and
charge the Chronoscepter then fire when ready.  It only takes two hits with
the Chronoscepter to take down The Campaigner.

*******************************************************************************
VI.    Items

..............................................................................
A.  Health

Health pickups look like plus signs.  Picking one up will increase Turok's
health by one.  If you are already at maximum health, you will not be able
to pick up additional Health.

..............................................................................
B.  Life-Force

Life-Force pickups look like triangles.  The light colored Life-Force give you
five Life-Force while the dark colored ones give you ten.  Collect 100 Life-
Force to gain an extra life.

..............................................................................
C.  Keys

Keys look like circles with dots on the four corners.  There are three keys in
each level except the last.  You must find all three of a level's keys before
you can proceed to the next level.

..............................................................................
D.  Ammo

Ammo can be found throughout the levels.  Different weapons use different types
of ammo.  You can hold up to 99 of each type of Ammo.

..............................................................................
E.  Checkpoint

Checkpoints look like triangles.  After you collect a Checkpoint, you will
respawn at that location after losing a life.

*******************************************************************************
VII.   Weapons

..............................................................................
A.  Knife

Turok begins the game with the Knife.  The knife is a short range, melee weapon
that deals twice as much damage as the Bow.  It is the only weapon Turok can
use while swimming.  The Knife cannot be used while Turok is jumping.

..............................................................................
B.  Tek Bow

Besides the Knife, Turok also starts the game with the Tek Bow.  Draw an arrow
by holding B then release to fire.  The Bow cannot be used while jumping and is
the weakest weapon in the game.

..............................................................................
C.  Pistol

Found in the Hub Ruins, the Pistol does the same amount of damage as your Bow
but it has a higher rate of fire.  Hold down the B button to fire continuously.
The Pistol cannot be fired while Turok is jumping.

..............................................................................
D.  Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is found in the Jungle.  It does the same amount of damage
as the pistol but has a much higher rate of fire.  The Assault Rifle can be
fired while jumping.

..............................................................................
E.  Shotgun

You'll spot a Shotgun at the very end of the Hub Ruins but you won't be able
to collect it until you have the Grenade Launcher.  The first time you'll
actually be able to collect one is at the very beginning of the Jungle.  The
Shotgun does twice as much damage as the Pistol.

The Shotgun is the first weapon you'll encounter that can be fired while you
are jumping.  Contrary to what the instruction booklet says, the Shotgun does
the same amount of damage to both short and long range targets.

..............................................................................
F.  Automatic Shotgun

This is an odd one...not only does the "Automatic" Shotgun have a slower rate
of fire than the Shotgun, it uses different ammo!  The Automatic Shotgun is
found on the ledge above the entrance to level 2.  Like the Shogun, it can be
fired while jumping.

..............................................................................
G.  Grenade Launcher

In this game, the Grenade Launcher is second only to the Chronoscepter in terms
of importance.  With the Grenade Launcher you can destroy certain rocks & walls
to access important items and powerups, like Chronoscepter pieces.

Hold B to charge the Grenade Launcher and aim with the control pad.  When you
are ready to fire, release B.  The longer you hold B, the further your grenade
will travel.  The Grenade Launcher icon in the lower right will flash when
your shot is charged to maximum.  The Grenade Launcher cannot be fired while
jumping.

..............................................................................
H.  Pulse Rifle

First found in the Ancient City, you can think of the Pulse Rifle as a Shotgun
with a higher rate of fire.  Like the Shotgun, the Pulse Rifle can be fired
while jumping.

..............................................................................
I.  Minigun

The Minigun is found in the Ancient City.  It's basically an Assault Rifle
with an even higher rate of fire.  Like the Assault Rifle, the Minigun can be
fired while jumping.

..............................................................................
J.  Alien Weapon

The Alien Weapon is found in the Catacombs and is basically a Quad Rocket
Launcher with a faster rate of fire.  In order to fire the Alien Weapon you
have to hold the B button until the icon in the lower right flashes then
release B.  Because it must be charged in order to fire, the Alien Weapon
cannot be fired while jumping.  Like the Grenade Launcher, the Alien Weapon
can be used to destroy rocks.

..............................................................................
K.  Quad Rocket Launcher

The Quad Rocket Launcher is found in the Catacombs and is a beast of a weapon!
In order to fire the Quad Rocket Launcher you have to hold B until the icon in
the lower right flashes then release B.  Because it must be charged in order
to fire, the Quad Rocket Launcher cannot be fired while jumping.  Like the
Grenade Launcher, the Quad Rocket Launcher can be used to destroy rocks.
Despite what the name might imply, each shot from the "Quad" Rocket Launcher
consumes only a single round of ammo.

..............................................................................
L.  Particle Accelerator

The Particle Accelerator is found in the Treetop Village.  It is very similar
to the Quad Rocket Launcher.  It must be charged before you can fire and you
cannot shoot while jumping.

..............................................................................
M.  Fusion Cannon

The Fusion Cannon is found in The Treetop Village next to the Chronoscepter
Piece.  Hold B to charge (takes a while!) then release to fire.  Because it
must be charged, you cannot fire the Fusion Cannon while jumping.

..............................................................................
N.  Chronoscepter

The Chronoscepter is by far the most powerful weapon in the game.  It is
obtained by collecting all 8 Chronoscepter Pieces.  The Chronoscepter is good
for only THREE shots and cannot be recharged.  Like the other "heavy" weapons
in the game, it must be charged before firing by holding B.  You cannot fire
the Chronoscepter while jumping.

*******************************************************************************
VIII.  Enemies

..............................................................................
A.  Foot Soldier

The lowest baddies on the totem pole, Foot Soldiers are armed with melee
weapons and will walk back and forth patrolling a small area.

..............................................................................
B.  Sergeant

Sergeants are Foot Soldiers with guns.

..............................................................................
C.  High Priest

High Priests are among the toughest enemies in the game.  They are fast moving
and have a high rate of fire.

..............................................................................
D.  Raptor

Raptors look scarier than they really are.  They will just pace back and forth
in a small area.

..............................................................................
E.  Dimetrodon

Dimetrodons are slow moving and will pace back and forth in a small area.

..............................................................................
F.  Leaper

Leapers are weak foes found in caves.  They are amphibious and are the only
foes you'll encounter while swimming.

..............................................................................
G.  Beetle

Beetles fly back and forth in a small area.

..............................................................................
H.  Cyborg

Genetically enhance Sergeants that have a fire rate of fire and can absorb
more damage before dying.  They are found only in the final level.

..............................................................................
I.  Dragon Fly

Like Beetles, Dragon Flys will fly back and forth in a small area.

..............................................................................
J.  Alien Infantry

Alien Infantry are first encountered in the Lost Land.  They look scary, but
are pretty much just Raptors that can absorb a bit more damage before dying.

..............................................................................
K.  Killer Plant

Killer Plants have to be one of the most pathetic foes in video game history!
All they do is sit there and they can be slain with a single shot from ANY
weapon!

..............................................................................
L.  Attack Robot

Capable of rapid fire and able to absorb lots of damage, Attack Robots are by
far the deadliest non-boss enemies in the game.  They are first encountered in
the Lost Land.

..............................................................................
M.  Longhunter

The Longhunter is the first boss you'll face.

When you run out of
Minigun ammo switch to the Pulse Rife.

..............................................................................
N.  Mantis

The Mantis is the second boss you'll face.

Wait for him to fire the three orbs then quickly run to the opposite edge of
the screen.  Repeat till he goes down.

..............................................................................
O.  T-Rex

The awesome T-Rex is the second to last boss in the game and is by far the
most difficult to defeat.

P.  The Campaigner

The Campaigner is the leader of the enemy forces.

B.  Password System Analysis

I spent some time analyzing the game's password system.  Honestly, I didn't
make too much progress, but here is what I managed to learn:

The password system uses 16 characters:

BCDGKLNPQRSTVWYZ

They seem to have a numerical value assigned as follows:

 15 = B
 14 = C
 13 = T
 12 = R
 11 = K
 10 = Z
  9 = G
  8 = L
  7 = S
  6 = W
  5 = Q
  4 = V
  3 = P
  2 = Y
  1 = D
  0 = N

I assigned a number to each letter in a password starting at 0 to help identify
the specific characters of a password:

0123456789
RSQYTRSQRT

012 = Difficulty, Access Level, Chronoscepter Pieces

Easy
 Level 2 = GRZ
 Level 3 = DVZ
 Level 4 = GVZ
Level 4 = KVZ (level 1 chronoscepter piece)
 Level 4 = KWZ (level 1 & 2 cp)
 Level 4 = KWR (level 1, 2, 3)
 Level 5 = PC
 Level 6 = RC
 Level 7 = VS
 Level 8 = RS
Medium
 Level 2 = TR
Hard
 Level 2 = GN

34567 = Weapons

8 = Lives
 15 = B
 14 = C
 13 = T
 12 = R
 11 = K
 10 = Z
  9 = G
  8 = L
  7 = S
  6 = W
  5 = Q
  4 = V
  3 = P
  2 = Y
  1 = D
  0 = N

9 = Checksum

Not sure how the checksum works here but I do know that if you want to add
lives i.e. go from 5 lives to 10, you need to add that number to the checksum.

Here's an example of how to add lives by changing the last two characters of
a password:

The password RSQYTRSQWS has 6 lives.  Let's say you want to bump that up to
12.  You would change the second to last character to an R (R = 12) and you
would add 6 (# of lives we added) to the checksum.  The checksum was S (7) so
you need to change it to T (13).  So our new password is RSQYTRSQRT.

X.     Game Review

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was one of the most hyped N64 "launch" titles.
Unfortunately, the game was a total bust.  Despite this, a Game Boy port was
released a year later.  So how did it turn out?  Surprisingly well!

Turok: Battle of the Bionosaurs takes the 3D shooter it's based on and converts
it to a side scrolling platform shooter.  Turok has two goals for each level:
find the three keys that unlock the next level and find a piece of the Chrono-
scepter, a weapon of awesome destructive power.

The graphics and music are both excellent.  This game was released late in the
Game Boy's life cycle, and after 8 years, developers had learned how to take
full advantage of the hardware.  The graphics are very detailed and the
animation is very smooth.  The music is amazing, it sounds great and is very
catchy.

Turok controls really well.  Running, jumping, and aiming all work like they
should.  Cycling through the many weapons is a bit cumbersome, but the ability
to do so while the game is paused helps.  I really only have two gripes: Turok
climbs WAY too slow up ladders/rock walls and sometimes when trying to aim at
enemies below a ledge Turok will decide to climb down instead of shooting!

One more minor nitpick (last one, promise!), the instruction booklet is largely
a copy & paste of the N64 Turok one.  I can understand not changing something
like the story, but a lot of the information regarding weapons and enemies
doesn't apply to the Game Boy version.

Overall, Turok: Battle of the Bionosaurs is an excellent game.  The graphics
are great, the soundtrack is awesome, and the game is lots of fun to play.  I
highly recommend this game for any Game Boy fan.

+  Lots of fun to play
+  Much better than the N64 version
+  Awesome soundtrack!
+  Great controls
+  Smooth animation

-  Weapons are too similar
-  Why does climbing have to be so darned slow?
