II. PROLOGUE
=============================================================================
Here is a legend of one chosen by destiny, who must destroy a looming
darkness, returning the light of a kingdom. There was a brave king who ruled
the peaceful country of Riccar who, one day, became overwhelmed by an evil
dragon. The dragon had once been bound by the hex of a sword thrust into the
heart of his likeness. But the beast was able to instill strong visions of
wisdom and power in the king which brought forth the hidden evil in his
heart. The dragon soon had complete control of him. The possessed king was
then urged to remove the sword from the ancient painting and when he did,
darkness spilled over the land. The country declined greatly as fear in its
people increased. The dragon summoned the evil power mammon and commanded
that he turn the people into trees. It was truly dark across the land, but
there was a ray of light: the birth of Prince Theo! The king grew very
angry at the prince, for on his left arm was a birthmark shaped like a
dagger! This omen made the king rage until one day he drew his sword with
intent to bring it down on the prince!! A brave knight, named Pascal, was
astonished and risked his own life to rescue Prince Theo! Pascal then fled,
with the prince, to the forest. For fortunately there were three powerful
magicians who, to prevent the evil from spreading, concealed the king and his
castle underground. One of the magicians had retrieved the Sword of Hope
which had been pulled from the painting then, three magicians secured
themselves behind locked gates.
Time has past (sic)... The tide is turning. Now a truly important mission
awaits you!

IV. GAMEPLAY
=============================================================================
The game uses a menu driven interface. Below is a diagram of how the screen
looks followed by a description of each term.

Status bar: Displays your current experience level, remaining hit points,
and remaining magic points.
Gold/Exp : Your current gold and experience are displayed. You may carry a
maximum of 255 gold.
Location : The name of the location you are currently in.
Commands : The list of commands you may execute.
Look : Examine the current location. A list of possible objects you
can view will be displayed.
Open : Attempt to open an object. A list of possible objects you
can open will be displayed.
Hit : Attempt to hit an object. A list of possible objects you can
hit will be displayed.
Use : Use an item in your inventory. A list of all the items in your
possession will be displayed. You may only carry 7 of any one
particular item.
Magic : Cast a magic spell you learned. Choose from a list. You must
have sufficient magic points to cast the spell.
Power : Display your current weapon and armor equipped, statistics,
maximum hit points and magic points, and the amount of
experience you need for the next level.
Movement : Displays all possible directions of movement from you current
location. Some directions of movement may not appear until a
certain action is taken first. A black dot in the direction you
wish to move indicates that an enemy is waiting in that
direction.

Terms
-------
Hit Points : Your current life total. You die when your HP is reduced to
0.
Magic Points: Your current magic total. Casting spells consumes magic
points. You must have sufficient MP to cast a spell.
Gold : The amount of money you have.
Experience : The amount of experience you have. As you gain more
experience, you will gain a level. Select "Power" on the menu
to find out how much EXP you need for the next level.
Dexterity : Affects how much damage your attacks inflict.
Stamina : Affects how much damage you will receive from enemy attacks.
Agility : Affects how much damage your magic inflicts.
Man. Message: Messages do not scroll forward until you press the button.
Auto Message: Messages scroll automatically without you needing to push the
button.

V. MAPS

Here are the maps of the game. Wherever possible, each screen has been
placed in the appropriate position relative to the movement box.
Example: A-B On screen A, you can choose to go east to screen B, or
/ southwest to screen C.

The name of the screen along with any points of interest in brackets [ ], are
listed below the maps. In some cases, it was impossible to place the screen
in the right spot so I have extended the line connecting the screen. The
length between screens still remains one screen so do not be led to believe
that the screen is farther than it really is.

VI. WALKTHROUGH
=============================================================================
This walkthrough will guide you through the game. I assume that in every
screen, you will talk to everyone and everything. I have listed the events
you must complete below, followed by the more complete walkthrough that
guides you step by step through the game. The walkthrough is divided into 6
sections. Each section lists the monsters in that area and any treasure
and/or shops found. Asterisks before a monster's name indicates that the
monster is a boss.

This is a quick list of the actions you must take to complete the game. The
"Lvl" is the recommended experience level you should have at that time.
Actions preceded by an asterisk are optional but highly recommended.

Shop : Barley, Herb, Silver Armor, Wheat
You begin the game in the house of the man who has raised you for the last 15
years. He gives you a probite sword, copper armor, white wheat, herb, and a
magic book. Begin by talking to the old man. To the east is the mill room.
There's nothing in there (for now) so go south. Now go three screens east.
Go north and you will be in the room of the Shaman. You can talk to him and
pay for healing or you can talk to the crystal to get a password to continue
the game later. The price of healing is four plus your current level so if
you are level 18, you will pay 22 gold. When you are done, go south and then
west. Now talk to the trees. Go south. To the west is Martel's Gate.
Since we don't have the key, go east. Look at the path to find a herb. Go
east. To the east is Shabow's Gate. Since we don't have the key, go north.
Go west and then north. You should be inside the Forest Shop. Talk to the
shopkeeper to purchase goods. Buy the silver armor and leave. Now reenter
the shop. Talk to the shopkeeper again. She will tell you to take the
scroll in the room behind her. Go north and hit the chest to get healed for
3 HP. Now open the chest. It contains the scroll that teaches you the spell
of Grace. Now leave the shop. Go east. Now go northeast. To the north is
Camu's Gate. Again, no key means no entrance so go east. Go north and you
will be in the Square. There's a tree in the square. Do *NOT* open or hit
the tree until you are level 4 or higher. The tree is actually a monster
known as Treant. It is too powerful for you at this moment so spend some
time leveling up. When you reach level 4, make sure you bought the silver
armor and are fully healed. The Treant will do a lot of damage but his
weakness is fire so use Firebal2 in the fight. When you win, the Treant will
give you the key to Martel's Gate. Now go to Martel's Gate. Use Key M to
open the gate. Now enter Martel's Domain.

Treasure: 3 Star Sword, Charm, Doll, Herb, Key S, Platinum Armor, Ruby
Charm, Uni horn, W Egg
Go Northwest. Go west and then north. You'll be in Martel's Room. Talk to
him twice. Now go south. Go east. Go north to the worship site. The door
will be open if you talked to Martel twice. Go north. Look at the chair to
find an herb. Now go north to the altar. Cast the spell Grace to receive
the charm. In the future, if you need a clue, cast grace here and the voice
will tell you a clue on what to do next. Go west. Use the charm to receive
the ruby charm. Now return to Martel's Room. Talk to him and you will
receive the 3 Star Sword. Hit his pigeon to get the W Egg. From now on, you
can teleport to Martel's Room. Now go south, east, north, north, north,
east. You'll be in the rear entrance of the worship site. If you talked to
the tree, it said it knew where Shabow's key was but forgot. Well, it

through so go south again. If you go east, you'll be in a room with a
treasure chest. The chest is not real. It is a monster called a mimic. It
will attack if you either open or hit it. It's somewhat powerful so unless
you're level 7 or higher, I wouldn't recommend fighting it. Go south 2
screens. You'll now be in front of another chest. This one contains the
monster Slug. It has the key to Shabow's Gate. However, it is powerful and
you shouldn't fight it until you are lvl 8. Cast Bagefire once or twice and
Slug will be defeated. Go north and west. To the west is another room with
a mimic. Go north instead. Go west. Hit the chest to get healed for 3 HP.
Then open it to read the message about a brave knight. Now go east. Go
north. If you recall when you first entered the well, there was a passage
west that was too slippery to enter. Well, this is the room. Instead of
taking a one way path east, go west. Then go north. Now go east. Open the
chest to get the doll. Now hit the wall to lower a hidden ivy vine. Look at
the ivy to climb up it. Now go northeast. You'll be in front of Poliniyak,
the knight's grave. Look at it and Poliniyak's ghost will appear. Talk to
him. Now, look at the tree. A path going east will now open up. Go east.
You'll be back in the graveyard and you'll remember the screen as the one
that had the west path that was too thick to cross. Cast Teleport and return
to the Old Man. Talk to him. Now go south, east, south, east, east, east.
You'll be in front of Shabow's Gate. Use Key S and enter Shabow's Domain.

The monsters here are tougher so make sure you are about lvl 8 or 9 before
you enter. Go east. The path splits going north or east. Going east
eventually leads you to a bridge with a hole too small for you to enter so go
north instead. Now go northeast. Go north and you'll reach a dead end.
Look at the grass to find gold. Now go south. Look at the surround to find
a new path. Go northeast. You'll go behind the waterfall. Now go north
twice and you'll be in Shabows Room. Talk to him. You'll get pushed into
the swamp. To the north is a cave. You'll fight very strong monsters inside
so level up to 10 before entering. Inside is a maze of doors and
teleporters. To get through the cave, follow these directions from the
screen outside the cave (Pond). The cave has many mimics so don't open any
chest unless I tell you to. Go north. Go north again. Open the chest to
read the clue. Now go west. Open the chest and the marketer will approach
you. Buy the gold armor for 250 gold. Now go north. Open the right pot to
get healed for 10 HP. You can go south and then return to keep opening it.
The left pot will inflict 20 damage on you so don't open it. Go west. Go
south. Go west. Go south. Go south. Go south. Open the chest and fight
Shadow for the moon fragment. You should be level 11. Two Bagefires should
be enough to defeat it. Now go north. Go west and you drop back into the
pond. From here go southwest, west, west, west, west, north, northeast,
northeast, north, and north. You'll be back in Shabows Room. Talk to him
and he'll give you the Extra Sword. Talk to his pigeon to receive the B Egg.
You can now talk to the trees that said "......" from before. Other trees
may have new messages so talk to them all. Now go south, south, southwest,
southwest, south, east, east, and northeast. You should be at the bridge
now. Look at the river and you'll fight Lizard. It's pretty strong but you
should be able to cast 2 Bagefir2 which is enough to kill it. You'll receive
the key to Camu's gate. Now teleport to the Old Man. Talk to him. Now go
to Camu's gate by going south, east, south, east, east, north, northeast, and
north. Use the key and enter Camu's Domain.

The monsters here are stronger than ever. Since you should have maximum gold
by now, you should spend some time leveling up. Most monsters will be
defeated after 2 Bagefir2s so teleport to the Shaman whenever you need
healing. The monsters here give you good gold and experience so money will
be no object. You should level up to 15. From the entrance go north. Look
at the smlstone to find gold. Go north, northeast, and northeast. Look at
the ledge to find gold. Now go northeast and then west. Look at the hole to
find gold. Now go fight Yeti by heading east, southwest, south, south, east,
and north. You should be level 14 to have a chance to win because his
attack, Frigid Air, does 45 damage while his normal attack does less. It
will take 3 Bagefir2 to defeat him. You'll get the saphire for winning. Now
go to Poliniyak's grave. Use the saphire and he will give you the platinum
armor. Now go back to Camu's Domain. Go north, north, east. Look at the
rock to fight Imp. You should be around lvl 16 before fighting him since he
uses powerful magic and is immune to magic as well. Use the RaiseS, RaiseA,
RaiseD spells to boost your strength. Then, pray that Imp steals from you
instead of using magic. If you can't beat him, then level up until you can.
You'll get a letter for winning. Now teleport to the Shaman and heal.
Teleport to Shabow. Go south, south, south. You'll be in the pond now. Go
southwest. Look at the pond to fight Mudman. You should be level 17 before
fighting him. Several Lightng4s should defeat him. You'll get the ring for
winning. Now return to Camu's Domain. Go north, west, north. You'll be in
front of a fountain. Look at it and then use the ring. The fairy will ask
you some questions.

graveyard. Look at the grave to fight Vampire. He is immune to everything
except the charm so use that. If you have the ruby charm, it does more
damage. You'll receive the Uni horn for winning. Now head for the pagoda in
Camu's Domain. From the entrance go north, north, northeast, northeast,
northeast, west, north, north. Use the Uni horn to enter the pagoda. Now
enter and open the chest. Now follow the path around. The chest on the 2nd
floor is a M Mimic so don't open or hit it. Hit the chest on the 3rd floor
to get healed for 3 HP. Then open it to get a spore. Go east and you will
be in Camu's Room. Talk to her and she will give you the Adage Sword. Open
her pigeon to get the R Egg. You can now teleport to Camu's Room whenever
you want. Now go north and northeast. Use the Moonfrag on the moon. Now
teleport to the Old Man. Talk to him to receive Wish, the sword of hope.
Now go to the Treant. Talk to him. Then hit him to receive the Trtfruit.
This fruit will fully restore your HP and MP. You only carry one at a time
so if you use it, just come back and hit the Treant again for another one.
Now go back to the Old Man. Go east to the mill room. Open the stonmill to
uncover the entrance to the castle. Now enter the underground.

From the entrance you have four directions you can go. Obviously north goes
back to the mill room so go south. Hit the chest to get healed for 3 HP.
Open the chest for gold. Now go north, east, east, north. You'll be in
front of 3 doors. Use the ring to open them. Go east, east, east, south.
Open the chest to find the Y Fruit. Go north twice to find another chest.
When you try to open it, the black marketer will show up. You can buy
barley, herb, or wheat from him at a higher price than from the forest shop.
Now go south, west, west, west. You'll be back at the 3 doors. Use the ring
again and go north, north, north, west. You'll be at a dead end with a left
and a right vine hanging from the wall. You can hit the wall to make the
center vine appear. Climbing center vine will only result in you falling
down and taking 10 damage. Open any of the vines to find the Ivy Seed. Now
look at the right vine to climb up it. You'll be in a foggy area. Now go
north, west, north. Use the FairyLmp to open a shortcut north. It leads to
location f in the Left Vine Path (see map above for details). Don't take the
shortcut yet. Instead, go west, south, south, south. Hit the chest to get
healed for 3 HP. Open it for gold. Now go north, north, north, east, north,
east, and north. The path to the right is blocked by a door. Open it and
you will have to choose between pushing or pulling the door. Push it and go
east. Open or hit the chest to fight Grimlock. Now go north and west.
You'll be teleported. Now go north, west, and north. Open the chest you
find there and the black marketer will show up. This is the last chance to
stock up on supplies so stock up if you aren't already maxed out. Now go
south twice. You'll be back at the vines. Now climb the left vine. Go
north and you'll be in a room with three dwarves. Open the center dwarf.
She'll ask you if you think she is a boy or a girl. Saying "boy" results in
you getting punched for 20 damage. Saying "girl" results in a kiss that
heals you for 20 HP. You can leave and come back to heal as much as you
want. Now talk to the left and right dwarves to open the left and right
paths. The left path goes nowhere so take the right path. Now go down the
hole. You'll be in the Abyss. Go east and then north. You'll be in front
of a river. You can cross in 2 ways only. One is to look at the surround
and choose the boat. This hurts you for 5 damage. The other method is to
look at the surround and choose the ferry. Say no when you are asked if you
have a ticket or not. You'll take 40 damage and cross (saying yes does
nothing). You'll be on the other side of the river. If you want to cross
back, pick any of the two methods. Now go north twice. You'll be back at
the room with the push or pull door. This time pull the door. Go south,
south, east. Open the chest to find gold. Now go west, north, east, and
east. You'll be teleported. If you don't have enough supplies, then go
north, west, north to find the black marketer. Otherwise go north twice.
You'll be in front of the castle gate. Use the ivy seed to cause the ivy to
grow. Climb up the ivy to enter King Hennesy's Castle.

Castle and the Mirror World

You'll be standing on the balcony. Go east to the King's room. Hit the
throne to find the scroll of Secret. Go south and then west. Use the ruby
charm to talk to the queen. Go east, east, south. You'll be in the
bathroom. Look at the bathtub to find the faucet. Open the faucet to drink
life giving water that heals you 30 HP. Now go north. Cast the spell Secret
to open the path to the Mirror World. Go east. You'll now be in the Mirror
World which is a mirror reflection of the real world. Go south to the
bathroom. The faucet has sulfuric acid that does 30 damage so don't drink
it. Now go north, east, south, south, east, north. Hit the chest to heal 3
HP. Open it for gold. Now go south, west, south, south. Open the rose to
find a hidden path to the west. Go west, north, west, west, south, south,
east, east. Hit the rock to find a hidden ladder down. Climb down the
ladder. Look at the right door. Now use the ruby charm to open it. Go
east. The room is filled with some kind of evil power. First, use your
barley, herbs, and wheat to restore your HP and MP to full. Now hit the wall
to uncover the dragon painting. King Hennesy will appear and attack you.
You should be level 25 or higher in order to win. The fight will be
difficult as the king casts the spells Arctic2 and Xplsion2 which both do
massive damage. His attacks do somewhat less damage but not by much though.
You can use the spore to make the king fall asleep but sometimes it doesn't
work so take caution. Anyway, the fight strategy is a hit and recover tactic
in which you attack, heal, attack, heal, etc. until the king is defeated.
Although the king may sometimes attack for less than 10 damage, don't get
cocky and try to attack more than once unless you have full HP because the
king can come back and do enough damage to kill you. Try to win with over 60
HP since you have another fight immediately afterwards. When you defeat the
king, violet smoke enters the painting and the dragon appears. It has about
250 HP and will cast RecMed. The battle strategy is the same as the one used
against the king. The spore also works on the dragon. When the fight
starts, use the TrtFruit to fully recover your HP and MP. The dragon will
either hit you or cast RecMed. Your attacks will do minimal damage until it
hits you. When it does hit you, your birthmark will appear as a sword. Now
your attacks will be vital hits. Now attack, heal, attack, heal, etc. until
the dragon is no more. Defeat the dragon and watch the ending.
