II. My Strong Suggestions
1. Put real effort into carefully facing any opponent you intend to strike
with your sword or shoot with an arrow. I've seen many first time players
panic and frantically strike their sword in the wrong direction while the
opponent is quickly cutting away at Robin's health.
2. Try to have Robin carry as few of the objects as possible to maintain
optimal speed and agility. Furthermore, delegate your objects to other
members in Robin's band by category. For example, I almost always give
Azeem all the potions, Duncan all the food, Little John all the "stuff"
like the rope, torch, saddle, etc.
3. Search all corpses. I thought about not writing this one because you
should have quickly learned on your own that there is something to take
every time a corpse is left.
4. In melee battles, give as many people in your band bows before you give
Robin one because I almost guarantee that they can shoot arrows better
than you in these battles. I could be wrong, so feel free to test your
skill on this one.
5. Another one in melee battles, don't let yourself be close to any bad guy
for any length of time and quickly get out of the line of fire from their
arrows.
6. The two times you ride a horse, don't screw up. I repeat, don't screw up!
And don't jump when you don't need to because you can jump right onto a
rock you didn't even see coming. Riding the horse may be tricky at first
since you can't ever see very far ahead of yourself, but it is not hard
and you will feel like the biggest idiot in the world if you get a game
over because you tripped on a little rock.
7. Drop items you don't need to save space for more food and potions. Feel
free to drop extra knives or swords you are unable to carry and I will
try to let you know of more items you can get rid of along the way after
they have served their purpose.
8. Don't give the Druid's Dagger to Duncan and don't mistake it for a knife.
III. Unsolved Mysteries
-I have found 1 chest in the game and about 4 chest keys. Where are these other
chests??
-What happens if you don't have 200 gold pieces to pay the fighting trainer
after you beat him?
IV. Cheat Codes
At the Start Screen: press 'A' 8 times and then 'B' 8 times. This will give you
the password screen. Here are the passwords for each part of the game, which
can be used on the password screen. Note: if you intend in beating the game you
cannot start further than getting the Druid's Dagger from Marian.

V. The Walkthrough
PRISON
Walk north and take your sword. Strike the guard and talk to Peter. Search the
guard's body and take the key. Proceed through the door on your right and go up
and talk to Azeem, answering yes to his question. Go to the top right are of
this H-shaped cell area, search and take your next key. Go to the next door and
when the dialogue box pops up, hold left on the control pad while you hit A to
close dialogue box. Creep back up to the doorway to strike the guard without
him slashing you. This will begin your first duel.
When it begins, quickly jump to the table, and run or roll off the right edge
of it to quickly get to a crouching position before that axe takes your head
off. You'll notice the guard swinging his axe over you in a 1-2, 1-2-3 pattern.
When he pauses after that fifth swing, stand up just long enough to strike him
and crouch down again as quickly as possible. Continue in this pattern until he
is dead. If you manage to not take a single hit you will notice that when you
return to normal mode, you will somehow have 105 HP out of a possible 100.
Search the guard's corpse and take his torch. Go to the lower right side of
this room and perform another search, showing and taking you through the
"secret" passageway to the Catacombs.
CATACOMBS
Proceed north and try not to get hurt by getting ganged up on by guards. You'll
reach a T-bone intersection. Briefly go left and grab that yellow potion.
Proceed back to the right until you get to a 4-way intersection. Go south
quickly to grab a red potion, but head back up quickly so the guards don't
corner you in that dead end. Continue north to get another yellow potion. At
this point, go to your player screen and get Robin and Azeem back up to full
health. Do not bother giving Peter anything because he will be left for dead in
the first melee battle that will take place as you proceed to the left.
In the battle, kill as many guys as you can, but more importantly, do not stand
right next to bad guys for any length of time as you will be taking great
damage at this time even though it looks like they aren't doing anything to
you.
When the battle is over quickly head north as you may have seen Azeem suggest.
HADRIAN'S WALL
Head north to grab arrows and an apple. Come back down two sections for a
quiver and then left for a chest key and another quiver. Go back to the right
and up one section then proceed left and collect the arrows and yellow potion.
Follow to the left, the down, then left again. Azeem will interrupt and talk to
you while you were supposedly going for the next quiver of arrows. Follow his
instruction and head north after you grab those arrows but proceed slowly or
you will run into the next melee battle too soon. When you see Guy of Gisborne,
don't go any further yet. Go to your player screen and get Robin and Azeem back
up to full health. When you return to normal mode slowly creep up to the apple
until you are a little more than a full body width away, hit pause and select
take to grasp the apple. Unpause, take a few steps back and approach the long
bow the same way, going to the pause menu to take the bow. If you tried to run
right up to the bow or the apple, the battle would start before either of
things could benefit you. Before you unpause this time, go to the player screen
and equip Azeem with the long bow. Return to normal mode, approach and talk to
Guy of Gisborne and begin the melee battle.
This time, the enemy will shoot arrows so do your best to get out of their line
of fire and still kill as many as you can with out getting ganged up on.
After the battle is over, return to you player screen and put on the leather
armor you just stole and repair any damage to Azeem and Robin especially. When
you return to normal mode. Head north to grab the apple and talk to the boy,
Little John's son. Stand near the chest, go to your player menu and take the
key to the "use" box and you will read that a red potion is in the chest. Exit,
return to normal mode, and grab the red potion. Go back down, then to the left
to get to the next part of this forest. I suggest equipping yourself with the
long bow and practice killing people with it in the next short section of
forest as you proceed to the left.
LOCKSLEY CASTLE
When you reach the grounds of the castle, there a few items to pick up. There
is a quiver in the southeast corner, another one in front of the front pillar,
an apple above the exit path on the left side of the castle, another quiver
towards the northwest corner, and 2 quivers in front of the door. Enter the
castle and equip Robin with the sword because it is wasteful and often
difficult to kill rodents in the castle with a bow and arrow. Go down the
hallway to the right to get to the room and search it to find a leg of meat.
Head back and proceed up the center of the castle. Take the first left to a
room with some bandages. Go back to the center hallway of the castle continuing
north. Take the next left to go to the next room that has a bag of gold near
the north wall and talk to Duncan to have him join your band. Go back across
the center hall to the room on the right to get find a quiver. Once more, take
the center hall to the north room to get a loaf of bread and a quiver. Proceed
straight down the center hall to exit the castle. Once you do so this would be
a good time to repair any damages caused by rats, bats, and cats and organize
the stuff your band is carrying. and get that stupid leg of meat out of
Duncan's hand already. Exit the grounds via the path on the left and proceed
though a short forest area, grabbing the knife you'll see on the way. I'd give
it to Duncan. Exiting this forest brings you to Dubois Manor.
DUBOIS MANOR
The items on these grounds are as follows: 2 apples in the southeast corner, a
quiver in the northwest corner, and a quiver in the north side of the inner
courtyard. To get past the guard, replace the leather armor Robin is wearing
with the Locksley Medallion. Once you're inside, put your armor back on. Head
north through the large door in the back. Grab the yellow potion and search the
room to get a door key. Exit the room, head back down that hall and go to that
room you passed on the left side to grab a loaf of bread and a leg of meat.
Unlock the door there, enter and grab all those arrows. Come back out and go
straight across to the right of the entrance and turn up the first hall to the
north. This leads to a room with a yellow potion. Come back down the hall and
turn down that first hall to the right. Take this to the room with Maid Marian.
Before you talk to her, stand over the chain mail lying up to the right and
pick it up. If you can't pick it up, go to your player screen, give Azeem your
leather armor and hand some of your other items to Duncan and Azeem as well.
And make sure somebody has a space to take the saddle that Maid Marian is going
to give you when you talk to her. Equip Robin with the long bow too. Then talk
to Marian. When finished, leave her room and head down the first south hall to
avoid the intersections busiest with guards. Follow the hall left to the large
center hall and exit where you entered. Once outside, just to the left are the
horses. Go stand next to them, go to your player screen and USE the saddle.
This immediately takes you to your first horse chase. When you press A to get
to it, hold right on the control pad so your horse starts running ahead of the
horses chasing you. Hit A to jump over all rocks. The rocks always appear in
the patter of a big rock then a little rock. Like I said before, don't screw up
here.
SHERWOOD FOREST
Equip Robin with the sword, because like before, it is a not efficient to waste
arrows on rats. If you are running out of a little room to carry stuff, you can
drop the saddle right now. Head north to the next clearing then head left as
far as you can then head north as far as you can for an apple. From there, head
down one section, right one section and up one section for a quiver. Head down
1 section, right 2 sections, up one section for a quiver. Head down 2 sections
and right one section for a knife. Then head north and follow it around the
curve to the left. Follow this as far left as you can, then north to the river.
Don't try to cross that bridge just yet. Follow the bank of the river to the
right to get a red potion. Go back to front of the log bridge and restore and
health you may have lost from the animals picking on you before you step up to
face Little John. Then approach Little John, answer yes, and then begin your
duel.
To beat Little John, jump backwards off the log onto the rock and when John
walks or jumps close to you, strike him in the legs with your sword. If he
manages to hope down off the log where you are, don't panic. You have two
options. You can roll into him to force him into a small space on top the rock
with yourself up against the left side of the rock and you may be able to
strike him many times and win right here. If not, scoot back, then keep rolling
into him until you get him to jump back on the log and then you can try that
first method again.
When the duel is over go to your player screen, repair the damage to yourself
and what you inflicted on Little John (not fair huh?), then I suggest giving
Little John a bunch of stuff to carry because, if you look closely, you can see
that he can carry the greatest load. Then, back to normal mode, approach the
man in front of you and he will tell you of your first mission to stop the
Baron's wedding.
BARON'S WEDDING
Equip Robin with the long bow and now in the forest, head left one section,
down one section, right one section, and down many sections until you reach the
pond. Then go right one section and down until you exit the forest. This puts
you in the courtyard to find the following items: an apple in the southeast
corner, another apple north of the castle, a quiver in the northwest corner,
bandages in the southwest corner, a gold coin in the southeast corner of the
inner courtyard, an apple to the north inner courtyard, and one more apple in
the southwest corner of the inner courtyard. Enter the church and head to the
room on the right, through that passage in the right wall. Be sure everyone is
up to full health because you will fight one or two melee battles. Go left to
the center hall and head north, fighting any battle along the way, make the
first right for a room with a yellow potion. Head back up the center hall, then
go left to a room with that letter you need and a leg of meat. Head back down
the center hall all the way then to the right to the passageway in the right
wall. Head left to the large center aisle and up all the way to the not so
happy couple. Make sure your health is up before you begin talking to and
dueling with the Baron. Something to note: you do not need to repair Duncan's
health anymore because the last battle everyone fought was Duncan's last. He
will leave your band a little later in the game.
In this duel, jump on the table and crouch down until he jumps over to the left
side of you. Then run off the right side of the table and stand at that edge
waiting for whenever he comes close enough for you to strike him in the legs.
Remember this as the "Table Technique" because I will refer to it again.
When the he is defeated, you may want to drop the letter to save space for more
important things to carry. Exit the church, and go all the way back the same
way you came. Use the map feature in the player section if you can't remember.
GIANT BOAR
Talk to that man again back at camp for your next mission. Leave to go hunt
down this wild boar he speaks of. Go south one section for bandages. Go back
up, to the right one section, down one more section and right one section for a
yellow potion. Go left one, up two, right one, up one and all the way to the
left for a leg of meat. Come back all the way to the right and north as far as
you can and then left as far as you can for a quiver. Come back to the right
again, down one section and all the way left to the entrance to the giant
boar's cave. There is a very special trick at this part of the game that will
allow you to relatively quickly get a max HP of 250. First, equip Robin with
Little John's staff. You will then enter the cave, start spinning the staff,
and drain the boar's life without taking a scratch yourself. You will notice as
soon as the boar begins to explode you will receive 10 experience points.
Normally, this is it; you have completed your mission of killing the boar, but
if you exit the cave quickly before the boar finishes exploding you can re-
enter the cave and defeat the boar in the same fashion again. And again. And
again and again and again until you have reached your desired HP level. Like I
said the max is 250 and I usually get tired of killing the boar at about 200,
knowing I can beat the game quite easily still at this HP level. What I love
about increasing the HP is that Robin's speed and agility also drastically
improve with each new HP level. At 250 HP, it's like you have a never-ending
red potion. So, after you have finished your desired amount of killing the
boar, don't forget to search the skeleton in the corner of the cave to receive
the Locksley Armor, the Locksley Bow, a bandage, and a bag of gold. Exit the
cave, head all the way to the right, all the way down, all the way left, down
one more section, and then head back to camp to the left. When you get back to
camp you will now see a ladder up that first tree house. There is nothing in
that one but if you climb the other 3 new ladders to the east and to the north
you will find a yellow potion, a red potion, and a quiver.
MISSING WOODSMAN
Talk to the man about your next mission and exit camp. Head left to the next
section and down that first section to the south, then head east one section
for a red potion. Head west one section then head south to the bank of the
river for a quiver. Head west along the bank to the log bridge. Cross it for
one quiver and head north up the left side of the river for 2 more and a long
bow. Head back down the side of the river, then head right along the south side
of the river for a yellow potion. Head back to where the log is and down one
section for a quiver, head right one section and talk to Little John about the
dead guy. Head right one more section for a rope, and predictably, return to
the side of the well and go down it by take the rope to the USE box. Inside the
well, head north and take the first right all the way to the end, then head
north. You will then enter a new lair. The doors on the left lead to small
rooms with pointless letters for you to read if you so desire. I say bypass
them, continue north, check out Mortianna's fighting skeleton and talk to her.
Then exit her lair, the well the same way you came, and back through the forest
by heading left, north across the log, all the way up the bank of the river and
then to the right all the way back to camp.
MEET MARIAN AT THE CHAPEL
Try to talk to the man; Duncan interrupts, so go do what he says. Once you are
in the forest, go the map in you player screen. You will see you simply head
north (despite what Duncan told you. what does he know anyway? He's blind!
Sorry, I digress.) to get to get to the chapel but as you can see there are 3
dead ends to the right and one to the northeast. If you head left to all the
way to the north you will find an apple, bandages, and a loaf of bread along
the way. In the three dead ends on the right from bottom to top you will find
bandages, a quiver, and another quiver. Exit to the forest to the northwest. On
the chapel grounds you will find an apple towards the northwest corner and a
quiver up the right side of the chapel. Enter the chapel. The room on the right
has a loaf of bread and a gold coin. Talk to Marian in the room on the left to
get the Druid's Dagger from her and I'm sure you'll see the bandages on the
left side of the altar. DO NOT EVER CONFUSE THE DRUID'S DAGGAER WITH A KNIFE!
You CANNOT beat the game if you do not have that dagger until the very end.
However, you can probably now or very soon drop all knives, but don't lose that
dagger! Now exit the chapel and its grounds back to the forest. Head west one
section and then all the way south back to camp.
TAX WAGONS
Talk to your assignment guy and then leave camp. Once in the forest, get your
health up for this next duel. Go talk to Guy of Gisborne tossing his sword
around.
When the duel begins, crouch down to get him to jump over to the other side of
you. When he does, run and jump over that first rock to your right and get
right up to the right edge of it and simple strike your opponent whenever he is
close enough. He will basically not be able to attack you unless he jumps on
the rock at which point you will strike him first, sending him back before he
can reach you. This is the "Rock Technique" for future reference.
Once you have defeated him, take your now rightfully owned Locksley sword, then
go talk to the man to the left, Friar Tuck. After he has joined your band, go
to you player screen and give Friar everything Duncan has. Completely strip
Duncan of all he owns; his weapons, items, food, potions, everything because
once you return to camp you will meet Marian again and she will take Duncan
from your band and everything has on him at the time. It is obviously crucial
he is not taken away with the Druid's Dagger. I know I'm beating a dead horse
here so this will be the last time I harass/warn you about that. Head north to
camp, talk to Marian, and bid Duncan farewell.
HIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTOR
Talk to the assignment guy and Friar Tuck about the next mission then leave
camp. Once you are in the forest (note: there are no items on the ground to
pick up), head left as far as you can, up one section, left one section, up as
far as you can, right one section, then north to the weapon's master. Try and
slip inside his hut before you talk to him and steal his potions and water
flask. Then, using the rope, go down his well for another red potion. Get your
health up, approach the weapon's master, agree to fight him and then use the
Rock Technique to beat him. After you defeat him, head back to camp the same
way you came.
GET HEALING WATER
Talk to your lazy, demanding friend and leave camp. Once in the forest, look at
the map. In the northwest corner is a quiver and in the center intersection is
the pond with monsters. Shoot arrows at the monsters with the Locksley bow and
I recommend positioning yourself with only one monster in your screen throwing
arrows at you at a time. After all 3 monsters are dead, USE you flask to get
water from the edge of the pond. If you or anyone in your band is at less than
full HP, have them drink the flask after you just filled it. Just make sure to
return to camp with it full. Return to camp. Talk to the guy about your next
mission, giving him the water. If you can, hold on to one or two full flasks
you are carrying to use as a single HP fill-up later. After you use them, drop
them.
SAVE THE VILLAGE
Grab the quiver and head north. You'll see a river, but don't cross it yet.
Follow it to the left and at the end you will see a sword which you probably
wont need. Before you cross the river here, head south to that small clearing
to pick up and apple and bandages. Now go across that rive via the log to the
north. After you cross the log, head right to go up the next clearing to the
north. To get a cross bow (WOOHOO!) head up one section from the river, right
one, up one, and right 2 more. From there, head back left one section, then
straight down to the river. Follow the river to the left as far as you can and
head up that last clearing. Grab that leg of meat and go north as far as you
can, then right once and exit to the north to get to the village. (NOTE: there
is a glitch in the game here: Do the best you can to not run into any of the
little bushes in this village. It is possible to walk into one or more of them
and get trapped in them with no way to walk out of the bush in any direction,
forcing you to terminate your game.) Once in the village, walk along that stone
path to the left and then immediately north along side that hut you just walked
in front of. You will see the Baron. Get all of your men up on health because a
battle will start when you get close enough to the Baron. Win the battle, then
as soon as it returns to normal mode, hit pause, go to your player menu, and
get Robin's health back up because as soon as you exit and take about 1 more
step toward the Baron, the duel with him will begin. Use the "Rock Technique"
to kill him once and for all. After the duel is over, walk two huts to the left
and enter that hut to find a ball and chain. This weapon is fun to use for a
short while because it looks cool and is just as effective as the Locksley
sword, but weighing in at 40 units, I think you will see that it hurts your
speed and agility too much. You could give it to someone like Little John to
use and carry but I think the rest of the men in your band fight much better in
battles with bows and arrows. There is nothing much of interest in the rest of
the huts. Although in one, you can wake a sleeping woman, and buy a chest key
off of her for 20 gold pieces, but I do not know where the chest is to use that
key on. Exit the village via that path on the right you entered from. Head
through the forest to the southwest, across the log bridge, then down through
the clearing on the right to get back to camp. But before you enter camp, get
the health up on your men because.
BATTLE THE CELTS
Once you return to camp, you will talk to a panic-stricken Duncan and battle
the Celts that have just surrounded your camp. After you win the battle you
will be thrown back into the forest where you should begin by heading east. You
will notice a man sleeping outside his hut. Without disrupting his slumber,
enter the hut, steal his red and yellow potions and the disguise. If you wake
the man, he will ask if you are Robin Hood. It doesn't matter whether you say
yes or no. Head down his well and steal the 2 quivers and another yellow
potion. From the man's hut, head left 1 section, down 2, right 2, down 1, left
1, down 2, right 1, then back to camp to the south.
LAST TIME THROUGH SHERWOOD
Talk to the only idiot left in your burning camp and then head back into
Sherwood Forest. Once in the forest, look at your map and you will basically
see one continuous path. Follow it and don't forget to grab that horse saddle.
When you get to the horse, stand next to them and then USE the saddle. This
will begin your second and final horse race. Don't screw up here, yada yada
yada.
TOWN HANGING
When you get to town, drop the saddle, take of your armor, and put on that
disguise you picked up. Make sure your men are up to health. Don't wander
around this are or they will soon discover you and begin a battle and then
another and another. Head straight to the right in front of the hanging stage
and then north along the right side of the stage to the entrance to the castle
with a guard standing in the large arch doorway. Strike the guard with your
sword, thus beginning what should be your only battle here and get you inside
the castle. Once you are in the castle, drop the disguise, put your armor back
on, and get everyone back up to health. Then, head into the room on your left,
grab the key, unlock the door to the north and grab the yellow potion. Head
north up the great hall and when you see a large door come back down a little
bit and head down the hall to the left, then turn north the first chance you
get to find another door key. Go back to that locked room at the top of the
great hall for another yellow potion. Start heading back down the hall and go
down the first hall to the east as far as you can. Then turn north and head
down the first hall to the east again. Then head north again and fight what I
hope to be your last battle. After the battle head right and then up ahead you
will see that fighting skeleton machine. Talk to Mortianna, fill up Robin's
health, and then equip him with the Druid's Dagger. Once the skeleton has swung
his sword, run close to it and strike it with the dagger as fast as you can.
This really isn't that hard and you may be able to do it without getting hurt
once. Once the skeleton is dead, watch Mortianna explode! HAHAHA! Fill up any
life you lost if necessary for the last time then continue north to begin your
duel with the Sheriff. Use the "Table Technique" to kill him and Robin Hood and
Maid Marian shall live happily ever after!
