Version 0.1 [4/17/03]
--In Depth FAQ; Mew Glitch started. Sections 1&2 completed.
--Many things still to complete.
Version 0.5 [4/28/03]
--Trainers up to number 74 completed.
--Only 1 Mew Obtainable Fairly To Date,
However, there are 2 more obtainable with Walk-Thru-Walls.
Version 0.6 [4/30/03]
--Thanks to White Cat for the information
The Pokemon you get is the Special of
the one you just fought.
--Mews are unlimited, depending on wild
Pokemon's DVs.
Version 0.7 [4/30/03]
--Oops, I mistakenly thought the Pokemon you
recieve is the Trainer's FIRST Pokemon. It's
the last. Heh.
--Finished the first 110 trainers, still more to
come very soon. Soon as maybe today or tommorow.
--Reformatted Layout.
Version 0.8.5 [5/02/03]
--VERY IMPORTANT! You can either use the Gambler facing
the Underground Tunnel, OR the SUPER NERD that says
"...blah blah But hows your chem?" You can use EITHER
trainer! Yippe! 130 Trainers done.
--Amazing way to get any Pokemon you want. You get a Pokemon
that has the special of the decimal number of the Pokemon
you want (Eg: 21 for Mew, 131 for Mewtwo), and battle any trainer.
Then battle a Ditto.
Run away, kill it, whatever, then go to Lavender and get the pokemon!
Version 0.9 [5/04/03]
--Check out the section below. :)
Version 1.0 [7/09/03]
--There honestly isn't any more to update except for the
Teleport Mew FAQ. Thanks to Kevdude16.

~~~~~~ ?) Very Important Stuff ~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is some very important news...
Gambler can be replaced with ANY trainer,
that battles you the same time you see them
on screen. When you would go to Lavender and
get your Pokemon, you would instead go to the
same area as the trainer.
You can get many Mews, using the Ditto trick.
Get a Pokemon with a Special of 21 (or 277),
start the trick, battle any trainer,
battle a Ditto. Have it transform into the pokemon
with that special. Then don't battle anything else, and go
back to the area with the first trainer
(that you ran away from). Mew!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~ 1) Introduction ~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Firstly. No, I really don't want anyone to help me,
or replace my guide with one of their own. Kevdude16 is
an exception, his way of doing this help people early in
the game to get an Mew.
If you find this guide hard to read or understand, please
let me know.
This is the REAL Mew glitch, the truck and the 150 Pokémon
code do not work, at least not for the US version.
For many years now, Game Freak and the gang, and created many great
Pokémon Gameboy games. Their first being Red, Blue, then shortly
after, Yellow. After a while, they created Gold and Silver,
with Crystal soon to follow. Lastly, they have created
Ruby and Sapphire, the newest Pokémon game. Still, after all
of these games, and all of these years, nobody has discovered
a way to obtain Mew, without Gameshark, or going to a Nintendo
promotion to get them from free. Until, now.
Recently, a glitch to obtain Mew, was found. Many very
low-traffic sites which are widely unknown had obtained this
strange way to get Mew. How it was discovered? Nobody knows at
the time, being as that it is such an obscure glitch.
My theory is that a worker at Game Freak, who has some
part in creating or fixing this game, at tweaked it, so
this strange glitch could be possible. Along with that
theory, I think that worker, or someone who knew, put it
on a random low-traffic site, after a few years, seeing
how it would spread. Well, it spread all right. Right
to GameFAQs, after I found it. The glitch not only works
for Mew, it also works for everything else.
I bring you, the Mew Glitch.
~~~~~~~~~~ 2) How To Do It ~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many of you must be asking yourselves (if you haven't checked
the boards yet) "How does this code work?" or "Sure this works."
Well, if you checked the boards, you would notice about 200 people
who have tried this successfully. Now, this is how it's done:
Step 0) Choose a Trainer from my "Trainer One" list that you haven't battled.
Also choose a Trainer (or a Pokemon with the right Special) from the
"Trainer Two" list.
Step 1) Bring a Pokemon with Fly into your party.
Step 2) Get some Ultra Balls, and anything else you would use to
catch a Level 7 Pokemon.
Step 3) Go to the trainer you chose from the "Trainer One" list. Save before the
trainer is on screen. Don't make him/her battle you yet. Now, step one step
towards the trainer, and PRESS START. Really fast. If you did it right,
it will pop up, but the trainer won't battle you. Now Fly to where-ever
the Trainer from "Trainer Two" list is. Or if you have a Pokemon with the right
Special, go anywhere there is a trainer.
Note) If you've done this right, after you use Fly, he will get the "!" over his head.
You cannot use START, A, or B right now.
Note) Do NOT save anywhere after this. First of all, you can't save when
your buttons don't work. But second, when they work again, saving
will negate the glitch, and the important trainer will be defeated,
and not allow you to get the Mew. If you are using a Pokemon with the
Special, and you haven't battled the Ditto yet, you CAN save.
If not, keep your saved file from before you battled Trainer One.
Step 4) Walk (you can't use start) to Trainer Two, and when you battle him,
make sure he WALKS TO YOU. Don't go directly in front of him. Beat him,
and (now your buttons work) Fly to near where Trainer One was.
Step 5) Now, go to the Route where you battled Trainer One. Do NOT save here.
Press B. Mew will appear.
Here is a link to White Cat's site, which gives a complete walkthrough
on how to get Mew, the original way.
http://white-cat.virtualave.net/pfiles/catchmew.htm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~ 3) Trainer List ~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The number one rule...
Do NOT talk to other trainers when you're in the middle of this code.
For example, Nurse Joy. If you do, you will battle a trainer twice,
and whenever you go into that where you fought Trainer One, the game will freeze up.
If you did, battle another trainer, or turn the game off/on.
Why? Becuase..get this...PEOPLE do NOT have STATS. Look below, to see
what determines the Pokemon you get. People, do NOT have stats, therefore,
they will not give you pokemon.
Thank you White Cat for this:
"I've figured out what causes Mew to appear.
It's based on the Special stat of the last Pokemon you fought."
It's true. The reason that you always get Mew
from that Slowpoke, is the DVs are fixed.
So, YOU CAN USE WILD POKEMON FOR THIS TRICK!
You must battle a trainer first, then if a wild
one runs into you, you can try it.
And that means...YOU CAN GET UNLIMITED MEWS!
I will find out which Pokemon have a possible
21 (or even 277) special.
If you have battled the Youngster with the Slowpoke,
you can still get a Mew. Go back a couple of lines to the ###.
There are as many Mew in this game as there are trainers. What I'm
saying is, if you SAVE, start the trick, battle a trainer, and battle
a wild pokemon, that may have a Special of 21, you can get a Mew!
If you can find someone with a Special of 131, you may be able to
get a Mewtwo!
If you want to search for something that can be obtained, press
Ctrl + F, for find, and search for "Obtain -) Pokemon".
If something comes up, that will be the trainer you battle.
Now then, special people that you battle, such as forced battles,
Eg: Gary, or button activated battles, Eg: Gym Leaders, and last,
people that don't have space to move when you battle them. They have
to move at least a square. UNLESS, you Activate the code, then
battle someone. You buttons are free, and now you can battle ANOTHER trainer,
giving you only the prize of the last trainer you battled. You can do that with
people like Koga and Blaine.
Now...if I put a * next to something, it means you
must battle another trainer first

Starting after this, everything in this section is
written by Kevdude16 from GameFaqs.

Alright everybody, I have discovered a way to catch Mew on your first Trip to
Cerulean City. It is call the TMG (Teleport Mew Glitch) and this is how to do
it. Ok, when you enter Cerulean City go to the Pokemon Center and heal even if
you have full hp. Then once you've done that, make sure you have 4 or less
pokemon. If not put enough in your PC so you have 4 or less pokemon. Then once
you have done that, head out and go north to nugget bridge. Then your rival
should come up. Beat him and go heal if you have to otherwise go and beat the 5
poeple on the bridge and the rocket person that gives you the prize (nugget)
After you beat him, SAVE IT. Once you have done that head north then left over
the river so your right next to the mountain. Then if you go down you should see
a guy hiding in the grass. DO NOT VERSE HIM. If you did, turn your gameboy off
and on and do it again. Instead of versing him. Keep walking around in the grass
untill you find an Abra. Then catch it. I have heard that you can only catch
Abra there only in Red and Blue. As for yellow, I think, that you can catch it
on Route 8. Well once you have caught it, save it. Abra should be in your
line-up now. After that head north just one step/screen above the guy in the
grass. Take one step to the right so that you are now directly above him but he
is still off your screen. *NOTE: If you verse him during the process of doing
this, turn you gameboy off and on.* So now that you are above him but cant see
him, press down and then press start quickly after you press down. If you did it
right, your start menu would now have popped up and you are able to see the guy
left of the start menu. If you did it wrong turn it off and on. Now that your
menu is up. Click POKEMON, then go to Abra and click Teleport. The guy will see
you just as you teleport away. Now you should be at the pokemon center without
the start button functioning. Now head back to nugget bridge but this time take
a right. You should come upon 2 hikers. Try to avoid them and find a way
through. After you have passed 3 trainers, you will see 2 more trainers. A boy
and a girl. Now we have to verse the boy. DO NOT WALK UP TO HIM otherwise your
game will freeze. Instead, simply walk up then right and make him walk towards
you. So now you are in a battle. He will send out a Slopoke. Beat him. After you
have beaten him, your start button will start to work properly again. So press
start and Teleport to the Pokemon Center again. Now if you haven't already,
stack up on pokeballs at the mart. You should have at LEAST 5 pokeballs. Once
you think you are ready, SAVE IT, cause if you mess up you would have to do it
all over again. Now head back to nugget bridge. Walk north to the bridge and
your start menu will pop up. Simply press B and await your Mew battle.
This has been tested and has worked many times. If you have any comments or
questions do not hesitate to email me to the email given below or you can post
your messages or comments on my post at

Thank you for your time.

~~~~~~~~ 6) Last Important Notes ~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Me: Writing this.
Kevdude16: Contributing the Teleport Mew FAQ
White Cat: Hmm...I don't know where to start...
1) For discovering that the Pokemon you find is the Special
of the trainer's last pokemon, or a wild pokemon.
2) For thinking up the Ditto idea.
3) For guessing that you can use any trainer instead of
the Gambler, as long as when they battle you is the same
step as the step you can see them.
Nintendo: For HIDING this stupid glitch for years.
You: For reading this!
Someone who I don't want to name: For emailing me,
and trying to get this FAQ torn down, because I made
one little mistake (seriously) and that "Route 24" doesn't exist.
Pah. I'm glad there is only one email like that.
Some sites on Google, who have neglected to release
this code for however long it has been they have known;
They discovered this, they should get the credit for that.
