1) INTRODUCTION
******************************************************************************
Pokemon Yellow was released by Nintendo for Game Boy Color in North America on
October 19, 1999.

This FAQ describes the Itemfinder, but is mostly a list of all the items
available in Pokemon Yellow that can be found using the Itemfinder.  The 52
items are listed by location, in the general order of a "typical" game
walkthrough.

******************************************************************************
2) ITEMFINDER
******************************************************************************
The Itemfinder is an in-game Key Item that can be used anywhere within the game.
It allows the player to locate hidden items.  These items can be almost
anything, from types of Poke Balls, to health items like Potions, to other
useful items like Moon Stones.

The Itemfinder will locate only items that are "on-screen" (within the window
of your game).  If you are scouring a location to look for items, you will need
to move your player around and use the Itemfinder often in order to check an
area completely.

You obtain the item by directly facing the hidden item and pressing the "A"
button.  You can't get the item if you are standing on the exact spot where the
hidden item is located.

If there are no items to find, you will get a verbal response saying, "Nope!
ITEMFINDER isn't responding."

If there is an item nearby, you will hear four pings and get a verbal response
saying, "Yes!  ITEMFINDER indicates there's an item nearby."

Unfortunately, you don't get any hints about how close your player is to the
hidden item, or in which direction your player must go to find the hidden item.
Start pressing the "A" button as you wander the general area.

******************************************************************************
3) GETTING THE ITEMFINDER
******************************************************************************
You get the Itemfinder from Professor Oak's Aide, located on the upper floor of
the Gate at the eastern end of Route 11, where it connects with Route 12.

In order to get the Itemfinder, you must have 30 different Pokemon in your
Pokedex.

By the time the typical player has reached the eastern end of Route 11, the
following Pokemon could have been caught:

1) Pikachu, as a starter
2) Pidgey in Route 1 (or 2, 5, 6, 11, 24, 25 or Virdian Forest)
3) Rattata in Route 1 (or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, or 22)
4) Spearow in Route 22 (or 3 or 4)
5) Nidoran(F) in Route 22 (or 2)
6) Nidoran(M) in Route 22 (or 2)
7) Mankey in Route 22 (or 3 or 4)
8) Caterpie in Viridian Forest
9) Metapod in Viridian Forest
10) Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest (or Routes 5, 6, 11, 24, or 25)
11) Sandshrew in Route 3 (or 4 or Mt. Moon)
12) Clefairy in Mt. Moon
13) Zubat in Mt. Moon
14) Paras in Mt. Moon
15) Geodude in Mt. Moon
16) Bulbasaur in Cerulean City (Pikachu at high friendship)
17) Oddish in Route 24 (or 25)
18) Venonat in Route 24 (or 25)
19) Bellsprout in Route 24 (or 25)
20) Charmander in Route 24
21) Jigglypuff in Route 5 (or 6)
22) Abra in Route 5 (or 6)
23) Magikarp in Vermilion City (or Pallet Town, Veridian City, Routes 6, 24, 25,
                               or Route 3 purchase)
24) Squirtle in Vermilion City
25) Diglett in Diglett's Cave
26) Dugtrio in Diglett's Cave
27) Mr. Mime in Route 2 (trade a Clefairy)
28) Raticate in Route 11
29) Drowzee in Route 11

Any evolved forms of these Pokemon will "count" as well.  You can get a Moon
Stone in Mt. Moon to evolve Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Clefable, or Wigglytuff.
Pokemon that evolve "quickly" are Butterfree (level 10), Nidorina (level 16),
Nidorino (level 16), or Kadabra (level 16).  Lastly, you can trade to evolve
Alakazam or Golem.

If you don't have 30 Pokemon in your Pokedex, you can always come back to the
Gate later in the game.

******************************************************************************
4) HIDDEN ITEM LOCATIONS
******************************************************************************
You don't have to use the Itemfinder to obtain the hidden items.  As long as
you know the exact location of an item, you can face the spot and press the "A"
button to get the item.
