Introduction
===================================================================[PB-INT]===
Hey guys, Bkstunt here doing a walkthrough on the Game Boy game Panel Action
Bingo.
Panel Action Bingo is, without a doubt, probably not a very popular game. I
mean, "Bingo" isn't exactly what gamers are clamoring for. Released for the
Game Boy in November of 1993 (almost 20 years ago!), Panel Action Bingo
features a different take on classic Bingo action, requiring you to control
a Dove and take actual ACTION to get your coveted bingo.
This guide is a direct result of Gamefaqs collection of faqers trying to put
up a complete FAQ for EVERY GameBoy game that was ever released. Sumo Fighter
itself actually isn't that bad, as it has mini-games, good stage progression,
and RPG elements in it.
Speaking of the GameBoy Completion Project, if you want to help we'd love to
have you on board. These older games AREN'T that hard to write for!
You can find the gamefaqs topic about it here:

You can find the webpage that was made for it here:

Anyway, enjoy the guide. Below is the rest of the stuff I put in all my
guides, so feel free to shoot me an email or whatnot!

First of all, let me say that my primary motivation for writing guides is,
and always will be, for the gamer. However, as I've learned by writing just
a few guides on new games, it can hit your pocket book! I wish they'd give me
these games so I could crank out great guides, but they don't! Ah, maybe one
day!
Until then, if you've found this guide helpful please consider donating to
help me offset my costs. You can donate to my paypal account below:

ALTERNATELY, if you shop at Amazon.com (who doesn't?!) you can ALSO help me
out by shopping through me! It doesn't cost you a SINGLE CENT either, which
is kick-ass. All you do is visit my webpage's donation page below:

Here you can find the controls for this game. I usually do fancy ASCII art,
but not for GameBoy games...
Directional Pad: Controls Dove.
A Button: Tag Block.

How To Play/FAQ
===================================================================[PB-HTP]===
Hey, so you're interested in Panel Action Bingo. Good for you! You're either
very lost or looking up some random games for the heck of it! Either way, let
me tell you what to expect out of this game.
The idea behind this game is a BIT different than you'd expect. In Panel
Action Bingo, you control a Dove while the game's AI controls a Cat. Both of
these animals are put out onto a standard BINGO board (a 5x5 board). This
board will either be filled with NUMBERS or LETTERS (an option you can choose
from the main menu) and you will than compete with the cat to fill out the
bingo board. To fill out the bingo board, you must do it in ORDER. For
example, if the board has numbers on it, you MUST move your dove and tag the
squares in order from 1-25 (or from lowest to highest). The same goes for
LETTERS, except you go from A-Z.
Ok, let's go over menu options and what you can choose from (Disregarding the
'Password' Option, which you can use to input passwords and skip levels):
o Number
Starts a new game using numbers on the board.
o Alphabet
Starts a new game using the alphabet on the board.
o Option
Allows you to set various options, including:
- Second 3 OFF
If you turn this option on, the Cat will teleport over the screen, 3
spaces at a time. He doesn't seem to have a pattern, as far as I can
tell. This option seems to change the gameplay a bit, as the teleporting
Cat is even more unpredictable.
- Ice Stage OFF
If you turn this option on, the stages turn to ICE, making you slide
around. You CAN tag things mid-slide (and you'll need to!) and you CAN
change direction mid-slide.
- Hide OFF
Turn this option on to randomly HIDE some of the letters or numbers
while you play. What letters and/or numbers it hides is random. In fact,
there will be times whwen nothing is hidden. Just something else to add
challenge to the game.
- Break D OFF
Now THIS option is for the HARDCORE, um... Panel Action Bingo Player.
Those people exist, right? Anyway, turn this option on to make EVERY TILE
DISAPPEAR! You can tag blocks to see what's there, but then it disappears
again, making you rely on memory to win.
In addition to all of the numbers and letters you will be seeing, you will
also see a few special icons. It's beneficial to know what they do before
hand. Check out what I mean below.
SPECIAL ICONS:
- Black Hole: Do NOT run into this icon, as it will instantly kill you and
cost you a life.
- White Star: A white star appears on the board, acting as a roadblock.
There are also bonus stages spread throughout the game:
BONUS STAGE:
At the end of each level, you will get to play a special bonus stage. This
stage will still feature you and the cat, but there will be no bingo board.
Instead, your 5x5 area will be clear, but mole-type creatures (or WHATEVER
that thing is supposed to be) will show up randomly on the board. Now you
must race the cat over to the creature icon and tag it in order to turn it
into a snail icon (if the cat gets there first, it'll turn it into a cat
icon). Keep doing this until every square is covered. There is no bingo
here, just keep getting squares for points.

HOW TO WIN AT PANEL ACTION BINGO
==============================================================================
You already know HOW to play the game, but I CANNOT just give you a GUIDE on
HOW to win: the game itself is random! Such a guide would be impossible! BUT,
I *DO* have some tips for you that can be quite helpful.
o Wondering if you should pick 'Numbers' or 'Alphabet'? Well, I would wager
that 'Numbers' would be easier for your average American player. After all,
we learn to count before the alphabet! So pick 'Numbers' for an easier
time!
o Since you MUST proceed in order from 1-25, you COULD, just as an example,
STOP on the '1' tile. Go ahead, try it. You can literally just SIT there.
And since there is no timer, you can LITERALLY SIT THERE and LOOK AND SEE
WHERE EVERY NUMBER IS! Yes, this tactic is literally game-breaking. Use it
if you wish.
o Sometimes, numbers (or letters) are SKIPPED! Wha!? Yeah, they can decide
to just plain go from '1' to '3'. Be prepared.
o Try and remember that the goal is to get a BINGO. If you are on number '15'
but the '16' is across the screen and the '17' is near you AND leads to a
bingo, let the cat get the 16 while you get the bingo! Don't just blindly
go to the next number.
o Sometimes, the cat will just CHILL on a number. Let's say you're near the
'5' and the cat has NO chance of beating you but he's near the '6'. Yeah,
he'll just chill on the '6'. BUT, you can FORCE him to move in an effort
to get both '5' AND '6'. Move a few tiles away and the AI will think you
are, well... dumb and will try and go after the '5'. THEN you can quickly
get the '5' AND the '6'. Aren't you sneaky!?
o Once the levels start getting harder (which will happen once you get into
the game a little bit and the Cat starts getting smarter) you can actually
scan the board for WHICH Column or Row has the potential for the FASTEST
BINGO and only worry about that Column or Row. Let the Cat have as many
icons as he wants as long as YOUR Column or Row WILL GET the first bingo
and YOU get those tiles.
o There are 60 levels in this game! Crazy, no!? Even crazier when you
realize each level has multiple rounds!
o After level 10 you see an image, but you will NOT be able to figure out
what it is.
o After level 20, you will see that the image is clearly a girl, looking
back at you.
o After level 30, you will get the full picture of the girl!
O IMPORTANT! After level 30, you will now have to DO THE PUZZLES BACKWARDS!
As in '25' down to '1'. It takes some getting used to, but you can do it.
o After level 40 you'll see another obscured picture, but you can tell it
is a road with the girl in it...
o After level 50 you'll see more of the picture, revealing that the bird
and the cat are with the girl.
o After level 60 the full picture will be shown. You'll then be taken to a
screen showing your total score and finally a cute 'The End' scene showing
the cat surrounded by a wreath with birds around him will show. Congrats on
beating Panel Action Bingo!
