::INTRODUCTION::.

Well, I first want to state this is my first FAQ for GameFAQs.com.  Now
that I have gotten that out of the way, on to the real intro.

This game is Olympic Summer Games for the Super Nintendo Entertainment
System(SNES).  You get to compete in 10 different events.  They are:

100 Meter Sprint
110 Meter Hurdles

I guess you already figured out that this game is rather simple.  It is
basically nothing but button mashing mayhem.  So, lace up your shoes,
choose your favorite country(32 different countries!), and get ready for
some competition.  Do your best, and go for the gold!

::MODES::.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PLAY GAME
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the option to play the regular version of the game, in which you
compete with others in all events.

Human players will be highlighted blue, and computer players, highlighted
white.  To choose whether or not a player is human or computer, click on
the blue circle next to their name.  This will toggle their name to either
blue, or white.

To change a players name, first move the torch(cursor) onto their name.
Then hit the START button.  This will bring up a table of characters chart.
To type in a new name, just highlight a letter, and click A or B.  When you
are finished, click end.

To change which country you will represent, move the torch to the flag next
to your name.  Then toggle between flags with the A or B buttons.  There
are 32 countries to choose from.

When you are finished, click Ok, and proceed to the game.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CUSTOM GAME
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the option is similar to the "Play Game" mode, except you choose
only those events you wish to compete in.  You will be presented with a
list of each of the 10 games.  Simply find the event you wish to compete/or
not compete in, and click the blue circle next to it.  This will toggle the
on/off text.  Choose the events you wish to participate in, and click Play
Custom Game.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PRACTICE EVENT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This option is simple enough.  Simply choose which event you wish to
practice, and click to blue circle to proceed to it.  Remember, practice
makes perfect!!

::EVENTS::.

*Note* These are in the same order as mentioned at the top of this FAQ.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
100 METER SPRINT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In this event, you will race against 3 other opponents.  The object of this
is simple!  Beat all others to the finish line.  Oh yeah, remember to wait
for the gun to go off before running!  Don't wanna get disqualified do ya?

The controls are very simple.  Rapidly press the A and B buttons to build
up speed.  At the end of the race, push the control pad Up to lunge forward
with your arms outstretched.

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Use the Up button to lunge forward at the finish line.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
110 METER HURDLES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Again, simple controls.  This event is one of the harder ones, as not only
do you concentrate on beating the opponents, but jumping over those damn
hurdles too!!  As in the sprint, repeatedly press the A and B buttons to
run.  To jump over the hurdles, simply press the Up button.  The Up button
is also used to lunge across the finish line similiar to the sprint.  To
help you out, there are 10 hurdles you have to jump.  Oh, and again, wait
for the gun!

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Press the Up button to jump hurdles, and to lunge forward at
finish.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
POLE VAULT
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The pole vault, a great event.  A fun event.  You know this routine
already.  Run, and use the pole to vault yourself over the bar.

To build speed up, repeatedly tap the A and B buttons.  To set down the
pole, push the Down button.  Make sure to set the pole down in the gray
area before the mat.  The best way to ensure this, is to wait until the
pole is slightly above the gray are.  As soon as you put your pole down,
push the Up button to launch yourself into the air. While you are sailing
through the air, push the Right button to give yourself some extra momentum
to get above the bar.

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Press the Down button to plant the pole, then immediately
push the Up button to launch into the air.  Then finally, as you are in the
air, push the Right button to give yourself some added momentum..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TRIPLE JUMP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A very...annoying event!  This event is very easy to screw up.  You know
the drill by now.  Press the A and B buttons repeatedly to gain speed.
When you reach the line press the Up button once, AS SOON AS YOU LAND,
press the Up button again, and AS SOON AS YOU LAND, press the Up button one
more time for a total of 3 jumps.  Remember to press the Up button each
time AS SOON AS YOU LAND!!(I can't stress that enough!)  If not, you will
end up face first in the sand.  Don't wanna embarass your country do you?

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - You press the Up button to jump. Remember to jump AS SOON AS
YOU LAND!!  Your best bet is the push it 3 times in a row, not to quickly
though, but with some speed:)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LONG JUMP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Very similar to the Triple Jump, except WAY easier.  Just do the usual by
repeatedly tapping the A and B buttons to build your speed.  And once you
reach the line, press the Up button to jump!  The more speed, the farther
the jump!

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Press the Up button at the line to jump.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HIGH JUMP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This event is simple, but may be tricky at first.  Run by repeatedly
tapping the A and B buttons.  Then when your character starts to turn his
back, press the Up button to jump.  Now, this could easily be screwed up.
My suggestion is to press the Up button right as he passes the first, white
vertical bar.  That is what I do, and I hit it each time!  In practice, to
change the height of the bar, just press Up or Down on the control pad.

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Press the Up button to jump over the bar.  Press it as you
are turning your back.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JAVELIN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is one of my favorite events!  Repeatedly press the A and B buttons to
run.  Then, as soon as you run into the triangle/v-shaped area, press the
Right button, then immediately press the left button so you do not run out
of the triangle/v-shaped area.  The longer you wait to press the Right
button in the triangle, the farther it will go.  But, if you wait to long,
you will run out of the triangle and get disqualified!

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to run.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to run.
Control Pad - Press the Right button to throw the javelin, then press the
Left button to stop your player from running out of the triangle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DISCUS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hmm, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst damn event in the game.  This
event SUCKS!!  It is rather difficult.  The book doesn't give you much of a
clue either!  Okay, start with the usual repeatedly tap A and B buttons to
build strength.  Then, your guy will start to spin.  When his RIGHT foot
lands on the center line(basically he'll do a 360 degree turn), press Left
to angle it, then immediately press the Right button to throw it.  This
event is very annoying, and you can screw it up easily.  Remember, his
right foot has to come all the way around and touch down on the center
line.

::Quick Control::

A Button - Used in conjunction with the B button to gain power.
B Button - Used in conjunction with the A button to gain power.
Control Pad - Press the Left button to angle your throw, then the Right
button to launch the disc.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ARCHERY
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This event is fun, and simple...well, most of it is.  First off, you have a
timer of 59 seconds.  But, this timer does not start until you push one of
the buttons used to either pull back, or release the arrow.  To pull back
the arrow, to gain power, press the B button.  To release the arrow, press
the A button.  You will have to hold down the B button and press the A
button at the same time to have full power, because if you release B
button, you set the arrow in the "neutral" position.  You have 6 arrows to
use.  Also note there is a wind factor which will make you shake.  You can
see which way the wind is blowing by the yellow flag located on top of the
target.  Also make note that the more power you use, the more it will make
you shake.

The points are broken down like this(they are from the outside edge, to the
center):

Off Target   - X(or, dependant on area, 0)
Outer White  - 1 Point
Inner White  - 2 Points
Outer Black  - 3 Points
Inner Black  - 4 Points
Outer Blue   - 5 Points
Inner Blue   - 6 Points
Outer Red    - 7 Points
Inner Red    - 8 Points
Outer Yellow - 9 Points
Inner Yellow - 10 Points(bullseye)

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used to release the arrow.
B Button - Used to pull back the arrow/increase power of shot.
Control Pad - Used to aim the arrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SKEET
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A pretty nice event here.  Simple too!  Simple press the B button to launch
a pigeon(disc), and press the A button to shoot it.  Use the control pad to
aim your shot.  You get 2 shots per pigeon.  There are 5 pigeons in all.
Reminds me of Duck Hunt for the NES:)  Oh yeah, 1 point per pigeon shot.

::Quick Controls::

A Button - Used to shoot the gun.
B Button - Used to call for/release the pigeon.
Control Pad - Used to aim your gun.

::TIPS::.

These are my personal tips which I use when playing the game.  They may, or
may not work for you.

--Button Mashing Technique - I place my thumb beneath the controller under
the A,B,X,Y buttons.  Then use my forefinger, and middle finger to press
the A and B buttons.  This helps me get the maximum speed out of my player.
This may, or may not work for you.  I use my left hand for pressing the up
button.

--Wait For The Gun - In the races, WAIT FOR THE GUN!!!  There is nothing
worse than getting DQ'ed just because you got an itchy button finger there!
But be prepared to take off at the sound of the gun!

--Crack Knuckles - I usually do this to loosen up and relax my fingers for
all the button mashing.

--Practice - Practice makes perfect!

Those are the best tips I can give you.

You should note that these records DO NOT save in the game.  Each time you
start the game up, the records are set at the ones they always are.  Only
when the game is on, and stays on, will your records stay intact. Here are
the records preset in the game.
