Section 1 - Introduction
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ninja Taro is a fun action/adventure game with some RPG elements.  It has a
great story and you follow it along like an RPG, and collect powerups that
increase your health and weapon power.  You are a ninja that has to help
the good Lord Nobu against his big rival, the evil Lord .  You fight many
enemies and go to many places along the way.  It's quite challenging and
easy to get into. In my opinion this is one of the better games on GameBoy,
and sadly one that most don't know about.  It's definitely the best unknown
game for the system and one definitely worth checking out.

This is the second FAQ that I have created so far, and the first full
walkthrough for a game.  I decided to create a FAQ for this game for a
few reasons.  First and foremost, there are no other FAQs for this game!
haha, so might as well make one for it.  Also, this is one of my favorite
games on GameBoy, but sadly it seems to be one of the least known games.  It
is very hard to find and not much is talked about it, but despite that, this
was one of my favorite games for the GameBoy and I truly love it.  Therefore,
I wanted to help any others that happen to get this game and make a
walkthrough.  Hopefully you'll enjoy this FAQ and hopefully it'll help you out
with any tough spots in the game.  I'll update the FAQ as soon as I can and
once I complete and figure out more parts to the game.  That's all for now, so
without further ado, on with the walkthrough.

Section 2 - Updates
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 0.5 - 3/14/03
Submitted to GameFAQs.  Includes the first part of the walkthrough, which
covers everything of the first part of the game up to fighting the ogre.  Also
includes an item/weapon section and a small part of the bosses section.  More
to come in the next update.

Version 0.8 - 3/21/03
Major updates to the walkthrough.  It now covers more sections and goes up to
where you find your way to Yama Province.  Next update should include a weapon
and items section, along with a seperate bosses section.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Section 3 - Walkthrough
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This section includes the full walkthrough for the game.  It will be divided
into smaller sections according to events that happen in the game and also
according to new towns you visit.  It won't be perfect since not every town
is named nor is each event clearly marked, so I have to use my own
discretion.  However it's easy enough to follow and flows nicely, so it's
good enough and accurately divided.  Also, I'll include a small section in
the walkthrough for beating a boss each time a boss enemy is encountered.
I'll also try to list and give detail for each enemy that's in the section you
are in.  That's it, so just follow on for the full walkthrough of the game.

3.1 - Ninja Master
===================

When you begin the game, you will be in the home of the Ninja Master.  He'll
tell you to go seek the council of the good Lord Nobu in his castle, which
is in Geko.  That's all you know to do right now, so let's get to it.  First,
be sure to equip your weapons, since nothing is equipped when you begin the
game.  You have two weapons to start with, a ninja sword and ninja stars.  One
good thing about the game is that you can equip the same weapon for both slots
and also you have an unlimited supply of ninja stars.  Except for certain
occasions, it's kinda pointless to have the same weapon for each slot, so
choose the ninja sword for one slot, and the stars for the other.  They are
both level 1, but you get powerups throughout the game that can increase the
weapon's power.  Also, talk with the ninja master again to save your game if
you want.  You can come back to him whenever you want to save, which is a good
idea for this game.  You have unlimited lives in this game also.  Each time
you die you just start back at the last place you saved, and also with all
items you had when you died, so don't fret much if you die, since you get as
many chances as you want.  So be sure to save whenever you can so you can keep
everything and start there any time you die.

Anyway, go ahead and leave the master's home to the left and you'll be outside
where all the main fighting takes place in the game.  This is where enemies
roam around and will sometimes reappear once you kill them.  You can also find
many items in chests scattered around.  I'll mention what you will come across
and find in each section, so just follow along to find out what you'll see.

Well once you've left the Ninja Master's house, head left and up.  The only
enemy you will encounter in this first area is a ghost/bubble type enemy,
which is the easiest enemy in the game.  You can kill it with just one ninja
star, and they move slowly, so you'll have no problem with these guys.  Just
head all the way left and then all the way up through the first pathway to
reach the next area.

Here there are a couple new enemies...one is a shaggy looking monster that
appears to have a robe on, and the other is a flying scroll monster.  The
shaggy looking ones just walk in a straight line back and forth and have no
attack, so they are no threat.  Their speed can change sometimes, so watch out
for that.  It takes 4 hits with your sword to kill em.  The scroll monsters
are not hard either, but can be more annoying.  They fly in a circular pattern
and vary in degree of travel and speed.  One will fly in a slow, short pattern
while another will cover a lot of ground in his pattern, sometimes doing a
figure-8 pattern.  It only takes one hit to kill them though, so that makes
them simple to beat.  Anyway, when you are in this area, go north through the
narrow path of trees and around to reach the chest.  It contains a power-up
for your ninja sword, so the enemies will take more damage to your attack.
Now go back down and go right until you can go back up through a path.  Then
go up as far as you can and then left as far as you can until you reach a path
in the top-left corner.

In this next section, there are again a couple new enemies.  One is a frog,
which does a couple things.  In this first area, they appear and then jump
ahead once, then inch back to their original position and disappear.  The more
common thing that most will do is simply jump ahead and then jump back to
their original position, and then repeat.  That's their only attack, and it
only takes one hit with your sword to kill them, so they are nothing.  The
other enemy that you will face more of later, but don't have to worry about
now is the wizard.  He can be annoying at some points.  He moves slowly in a
straight path and then goes back, and that's it.  Some of them will shoot
fireballs sideways in both ways, and as you come across more, they'll vary in
those areas...they'll shoot more often, move faster, etc.  They take several
hits to kill at this point since your weapon isn't so powerful.  You don't
have to fight the one in this section since he's out of reach, but just wanted
to talk about him now for future reference.  Anyway, once you are in this
section, simply follow the river north and east until you reach the top.
You will see a set of stairs in the northeast corner which leads to a cave,
but ignore it for now since you'll be coming back to it shortly.  Instead, go
west across the bridge and keep going until you reach the next section.

Once you are in this section, head all the left and then down to where the
river keeps running.  There's a chest there that contains a power-up to your
ninja star, so pick that up.  The enemies here are ones you've seen before, so
nothing new to surprise you.  Once you get the power-up then just go up to the
top-left corner where you see a set of doors - that's the entrance to the
first village.  Every time you see those doors, that's an entrance to a town,
just as a note.  So from here on I'll just mention it as a village/town.

3.2 - The Ninja Thief and Stolen Scroll
========================================

Once you are in the town, talk to the people in it.  You'll notice that they
mention a thief that broke into the samurai's house the night before,
and that he stole a key to the south gate.  So that means there's no way to
advance past the gate at the moment.  Go talk to the samurai in his house at
the top-left part of town and discuss the matter.  He'll tell you that a bad
ninja broke into his house and stole a scroll of his and asks you to recover
it for him.  So that's what you should do now.  Talk to him again before going
and he'll give you a hint about being able to walk through the left wall at
the end of a cave.  That's very useful for where you are about to go.  So go
talk to the lady in the bottom-right part of the village to save your game,
and then it's off to find the scroll and the thief!

Go back out where you came in and then walk back to the right past this
section and then to the right of the next until you reach that cave again.
This is where you need to go, so go ahead and enter the cave.  Once you are
inside, you'll notice a new enemy.  The enemy is a monster that looks like a
sword.  They aren't tough, since they just walk side to side in a set pattern
and have no attack.  Sometimes one or two will actually walk around so be
careful of that, and they can move at quicker speeds, but nothing
to worry about.  Just one hit with your sword will kill them.  Anyway, once
you are in the cave, head right and then down until you reach a wall, and then
go left until you can move south to the next section.

In this new section, there's another new enemy, and he is a HUGE pain at this
point of the game.  He's a samurai/warrior looking enemy and is dangerious. He
isn't really hard in what he does, just how tough it is to beat him.  They
mostly move along side the wall, and can move fast or slow.  It's easy to
avoid them though since they only move along the wall, which is nice.  The
tough thing about them is it takes 8 hits with your sword to kill them, and
don't even bother trying with the stars, since it literally takes about 20 or
so to do it that way.  And the other thing is they take away 4 of your life
if they run into you, which is easy for them to do since they can move pretty
quick, and since you only have 4 bars of life when you start, you will die
instantly at this point so watch out. So for now just avoid them or stay
outside their line of walking and attack them as they keep walking by.  You'll
run into them a lot as the game goes on so just want to prepare you now.  In
this place since the area is more open then it's easy to avoid them, but when
you are in more narrow areas with them then they can be dangerous and it
doesn't take long to die.  Enough about them though, since you get the hint.

Once you enter this area of the cave, make your way to the bottom-right side
of the room to reach a chest.  In it is a heart piece that increases your life
bar, so it's definitely a must have!  Once you get that, then head over to the
left-hand side of the room.  Now remember what the samurai said - walk through
the left wall at the end of a cave?  This is where that comes in handy.  On
the left wall is a little indent in the wall.  Go through that indent and
you'll go right through the wall to another section of the cave.

Now that you are in this part of the cave, go straight ahead to the left and
you'll reach a chest.  Inside is a weapon power-up, which will increase all of
your weapon's powers by 1! Sweet!  That'll come in handy for the rest of the
cave.  Once you grab that, then head back to the right and up, and then to the
left past the warrior guard.  They only take 6 hits to kill now so take out
the enemy guarding the way to the next section and then walk into the ogre
head that is on the ground.  From here on, whenever you see an ogre head it is
a door to the room of a boss, just for future reference.  Anyway, walk through
it to enter another room with a different look than the other parts of
the cave.  Go ahead and use an herb if you don't have full health, just to
prepare for the upcoing fight.  Go straight to the left and then walk onto
another ogre head to activate the boss fight.  Once you step on it then the
boss will say something to you and then you will fight.  Turns out the boss is
the ninja thief that stole the samurai's scroll.  Once he says what he does,
it's time to fight!

-------------------
BOSS - Ninja Thief
===================
As I said, the boss in this cave is the ninja thief that took the scroll of
the samurai.  He is actually fairly easy since he has a set pattern and is
easy to avoid if you know where to stand.  He is pretty fast so he can easily
hit you if you are in his way.  What he does is walk around the room in a
counter-clockwise motion and then when he gets to where you are, he'll throw
a big ninja star in your direction and then to the side.  That's all he does!
Sometimes he'll go down the narrow passages in between the room, but for the
most part he walks along the outside edges, so your best bet is just to stay
near the ogre head and not move much since he'll do all the moving for you.
To beat him, simply stand near the ogre head as I said and attack him with
your sword when he walks by.  It's that easy.  You just have to be patient,
since he moves so fast around the room, you can only get in one or two hits as
he passes you.  What you need to do is stand above the head where the passage
space is, and then wait for when he is walking to your direction.  Get in
position to strike for when he walks down and then repeat.  He'll also walk to
your pathway position sometimes, so watch for where he stops at the top and
then quickly move to avoid being hit by his ninja star when he throws it.
If he goes to the line of where you are, then just step forward, turn around
quickly, and attack him when he walks down past you.  This is the only time
he's a threat, since he'll walk and throw the start on the other side of the
room no where near you, so he's really nothing to worry about.  With some
patience and just seeing where he's going, you can easily kill him.  It takes
just 4 hits or so with your sword to do him in.  You'll see more of what I
mean when you fight him, but you should make it through him without getting
hit once.  Overall he is an easy boss and isn't much of a threat.

Once you defeat the ninja thief, you'll get the scroll back.  You can walk
through the ogre head on the left side of the room (which you should be
standing by) but there's nothing you can get now.  You'll go to another room
with some new enemies, but you cannot pass the river just yet.  You'll have to
come back to this part later in the game once you have the items necessary to
advance.  Anyway, it's not important now, so just go back the way you came.
Exit through the ogre head on the right, then go down and right to exit that
area.  Then just head up to exit this section, and finally go around to the
right, up, then left to exit the cave completely.  Once you are back outside,
just go all the way west again until you reach the town.

Once you are back in the village, talk to the samurai again and he'll thank
you and tell you that the scroll is a momento from an old friend.  He'll also
discover the key to the gate in the scroll, and will give that to you.  So
now that you have completed that quest, you can talk to that lady again in the
southeast part of town to save your game, and then finally move on.  Go ahead
and open the gate at the south end of the village to enter the next area.

3.3 - Beyond South Gate
========================

Now that you are past the south gate, remember what the Ninja Master told you
in the beginning - you need to seek the council of the good Lord Nobu in his
castle in Geko.  Well we are back to that goal.  The aim is to reach Geko
Castle, but we have to make it through these hills and fields to get there.
So once you leave the village, head south through the rocks to the bottom of
the area and then left and up onto the hill platform.  You will see another
new enemy that looks like a masked monk in a robe.  He is not tough at all,
and has no attack.  The only thing with him is that he'll walk around slowly
at first, but each time he turns a corner or walks back, he'll get faster, and
can get pretty fast before he starts slowing down again.  So watch out for
that, but it only takes 2 hits to kill him with your sword, so overall he's
not an enemy to worry about.  Those samurai warriors from the cave are here
also, but move a lot slower than the ones in the cave.  However, these areas
can get a lot narrower than the cave, so be careful when walking through a
small pathway and one of them starts walking to you.  Their slow speed will
make it easier to avoid them this time though.  Anyway, when you are on the
hill, just turn left to reach the next section.

In this next part, go up through the narrow path of trees, and then make your
way west through another narrow pathway.  Here you need to be a little careful
since those warrior enemies and also the masked ones will walk through the
pathway making it easy to get hit.  Just watch if one is coming and then step
out of the way in the wider area and kill them or walk by them.  Either way,
walk all the way to the left and then all the way down through the narrow path
until you reach the bottom of the area.  Go to the right to get that chest
which contains another health powerup. yay!  Now you should have 8 bars of
health.  Head left from the chest now to reach the next area.

Here you will run into a new enemy.  This enemy looks like a cyclops and is
easy to beat.  The only thing they do is walk at a slower pace until they hit
a wall, and then turn in another direction and quickly dart straight ahead
until they hit another obstacle.  That's all they do, so be cautious of them
running fast so you won't get in their way, since it's nearly impossible to
avoid them when they are moving that fast.  It only takes one hit with your
sword to kill them though, so even if they start to go fast, you can probably
kill them before they even run into you.  They are mostly just in the way and
pose no threat, so just kill them or walk past them when they are walking
slowly.  Anyway, once you're in this area, wait for the enemy to walk down off
the cliff and then kill him and quickly go up the path before another one
reappears.  Once you make it on top of the plateau, just head up from the
right, since you'll avoid the enemies on the left and it's shorter.  Go up and
into the narrow path of grass, and then make your way all the way to the left
to reach the next section.

In this section you'll run into the same enemies as before, but since there is
not that much wide open space in this area, it will be easier to get hit by
the cyclops and masked enemies.  They can move quick and a lot of them appear
so don't rush through this area and just watch out for any enemies that
appear and take them out.  Head to the left and down in a zig zag pattern
through the pathways until you reach the bottom where you see a statue.  Go
left and up between the statue and wall of trees and you'll walk through the
two trees that appear to block your way.  Walk up as far as you can, then
right, and then up again through two more trees to reach a chest.  Open the
chest to get a ninja star power-up.  Now head back down to the statue, and
then head all the way to the right to reach the section you were just in, but
you'll be in the bottom left corner where you couldn't get to before.  Ignore
the chest on the cliff right now since you cannot reach it just yet.  Instead
just go down from here to reach a new section.

In this area, head all the way to the right until you can go down.  You'll see
one path going to the southwest and another going down to the right.  Both go
in a circle so it doesn't matter which you take, but go down and left since it
is quicker.  Again you can't reach the chest on the cliff off to the left, so
ignore it for now and just head down.  Go left through the narrow path of
trees and then down to finally reach a new place - Geko Castle!

3.4 - Geko Castle
========================

Alright, you finally made it to the home of Lord Nobu - Geko Castle.  This is
a huge place with the castle and town actually spanning a couple screens in
all directions.  The best thing to do overall is speak to each person in the
town.  Most will just give you generic info, but some will have information
you need.  Well here's some specific things you need to do now.  First go to
the right, past the chest you see into the next section of town.  Talk to the
old man next to the mote who will tell you to try walking through the tree
above him.  Go ahead and do that and then walk back to the left to reach that
chest you passed just a second ago.  Walk down through another tree and open
the chest to get a health level-up, which should increase your life to 10 bars
at this point.  Go back through the path to the old man, and then go right to
talk to the samurai by the sign.  He'll tell you about the area ahead to the
right.  He says that if you go straight east, you will go through Yama and
reach Kai Province, where Lord Shin lives, who is Lord Nobu's biggest rival as
you will learn by talking to other people in town.  He also warns you of a
creature who is able to withstand weapons that guards the way.  You will need
to go that way later on in the game, but for now just take that info in and go
back to the left side of town where you entered, and then head south.

You'll see a fellow warrior by a bridge who'll tell you that Lord Nobu is
upstairs in Geko castle.  Don't go there just yet, but keep going south into
the next part.  Follow the mote around the castle and talk to each person
here.  They'll mention to you about a ladder and water spiders, which are
items you need to pass certain areas of the game, but you can't get them just
yet.  Talk to the samurai in the bottom-left part of this area and he'll tell
you about the area to your west.  He tells you that the area to the left is
Ise Province, with the town of Omi to the west of there and the town of Iga is
to the south.  You'll go there soon as well, but for now head back to the east
into the next area.  Here you'll see a lady that will save your game and
restore your health, so talk to her to do those two things.  To the right is
just some more town's people that will tell you about each weapon you can use
in the game, so talk to them if you like.  When you are ready to move on, go
back to the bridge over the mote and go across to the inner part of the castle
and talk to the people there.  Go to the southeast section of the castle to
find an entrance to the inner part of the castle.  Go left of there to find a
set of stairs which actually leads inside where you can talk to Lord Nobu.

Once inside, talk to the person who is kneeling down before Lord Nobu.  He
will give you the dagger to use.  It is like the ninja star in that you can
throw it.  It's much faster than the stars, but also is weaker.  They are
useful to have, but stick with the ninja stars for now until you can power-up
the daggers.  Now speak with Lord Nobu - he will have a mission for you to go
find out if rumors of the evil Lord Shin Takeda's defeat are true or not.  He
will also give you the Murasame sword.  It's a great sword but like the dagger
it is weak right now since it is not powered up.  Stick with your ninja sword
for now until the Murasame sword is more powerful.  Once you speak to Nobu,
talk with the other guy again and he'll ask if you are going to Kai.  He tells
you about the mighty beast that guards the way and tells you to beware.  He
also mentions finding the secret passage and avoiding the beast.  He concludes
by telling you to go seek your master's wisdom.  You know what that means?
Yes you have to backtrack all the way to the beginning to see the Ninja Master
and get his help.  So leave the castle and go back to the south part of town
to save your game.  Once you are done talking to everyone and have prepared
yourself, go to the north part of town where you first entered, and then head
out to begin making your way back to the Ninja Master.

3.5 - Return to the Ninja Master
=================================

When you leave Geko Castle, it shouldn't be too hard to make your way back to
the Ninja Master, since all you are doing is backtracking what you have done
so far.  Even if you may know how to return to him, here's a brief summary of
how to get back.  once you leave the castle, go to the right a little, and
then all the way north to the top and then west to make your way to the next
section.  From here just go up and left to reach the next section.  In this
area, go down and all the way left to the statue, then head up and zig zig
right and up until you reach the top and then head right to get to the next
section.  In this next area, go all the way right, then head down bearing
right, until you reach the bottom, then go right to the next section.  In this
section, head straight up through the narrow tree path until you reach the top
and then head right to the end of the path, and then head down onto the cliff
and then go right to enter the next area.  Here, just head right and down off
the cliff, and then go right and up to the top and then enter the village.  Be
sure to save with the lady at the southeast part of the village, and then head
out of the village at the top-right.

From here, simply go all the way to the right to exit this section and then
keep going until you reach that cave again.  Head south from the cave all the
way down, and then go to the left until you reach the narrow path, and then go
down to reach the next section.  In this area just go all the way to the right
and then head down.  Keep going and go through either of the three passages to
reach the next section.  From here just go all the way down and then right to
the southeast corner to reach the Ninja Master's home.  Go inside and talk to
the Ninja Master about what you need to do.  He'll go over the situation about
you going to Kai to find Shin and about a mighty beast blocking the way.  He
gets an idea and will give you a ladder and then tells you to go to Iga.  His
old friend Kondo, the ninja master, lives there.  He says Kondo should be able
to lend you a hand.  So now that you have the ladder, you have to make your
way back to Geko Castle and then continue off to Iga.  Now that you have the
ladder, you can finally go up cliffs that have no pathway, so you can get
those chests that you couldn't reach before.  Also now that you have it, most
enemies will leave ladders when you kill them, so you can stock up on some as
you go.  Anyway, now that you have spoken with the Ninja Master, make your way
back to Geko Castle.

Backtrack again to the village by going north from the master's house, and
then go up the pathway to the right, going up and around to the left, then up
the pathway.  Now go right and up around the river, and then cross the bridge
and head straight to the left to the next section, and then keep going left
until you reach the village again.  Go ahead and save here again, and then go
through the south gate.  once you're in this section, make your way down, and
then up the cliff pathway, and go west to enter the next area.  Go up into the
narrow tree pathway, then go all the way left and then all the way down, and
go left when you reach the end to go to the next section.  Here, go up the
cliff pathway and make your way up around the right side and then all the left
when you are in the grass.  Zig-zag your way left and down until you get to
the end of the pathway, and then go all the way right when you get to where
the statue is.  Now you will be in the area where you can use a ladder to get
to the chest.  If you want, you can use the ladder you have to get the chest
on he cliff.  As soon as you use a ladder, then enemies should start to give
up ladders when you kill them, so you can restock on ladders that way.  It's
not far from Geko Castle to come back, so if you want to wait and then get
these chests at a later time, then feel free to do so.  Inside the chest is a
power-up for all your weapons, so definitely get it when you decide to.
Anyway, just head south to the next area and then go all the way to the right,
and then down and left, and finally go through the small narrow pathway of
trees at the bottom section to return to Neko Castle.  If you want the chest
that's on the cliff off to the left, it contains a weapon upgrade to your
Murasame sword.  Get that if you want and then go to Neko Castle.

Once you are back in Geko Castle, go down to the bottom-left part of the town
and talk to the samurai that is in front of the pathway to get to Ise Province
where Iga is located.  He will tell you that, sadly, Kondo of Iga has died.
He will tell you that Kondo's daughter is said to be living in Omi Province.
So that will be our next destination.  But before we go there, first head up
to see Lord Nobu inside his castle.  When you get to him, talk to the guy next
to him, and he'll tell you that if you're going to Iga, to take the ladder he
has in storage.  If you go out of the castle, and south from the bridge, and
talk to the first guy standing there, he'll give you a ladder if you don't
already have one.  If you do then he won't give you one since he'll think you
are being greedy.  You can do a couple things...you can go back out of the
castle and use the ladder to get one of those two chests I mentioned earlier
(in case you didn't get them before) and then come back to get this ladder.
Or you can go ahead and get ready to head to Ise Province if you already have
the items in the chests, and also since I said the enemies will sometimes give
up ladders when you kill them.  The choice is yours, depending on what you
feel like doing.  Either way, get those two chests sometime on your journey,
since they have important upgrades inside them.  Whatever you decided to do,
when you are ready, it is time to move on to the Ise Province.  Go to where
the samurai is at the southwest part of the town and then leave Geko Castle
that way.  Off to the town of Omi.

3.6 - Ise Province
===================

Once you leave Geko Castle to the west, you will be in Ise Province.  There
are two places you can go from here - the town of Iga which is to the south,
and the town of Omi which is to the west.  We will be going to Omi for the
moment, since the samurai mentioned the Ninja Master's good friend Kondo has
died and his daughter is living in Omi.  So your destination at this point is
to find Kondo's daughter and find out what is going on.  Once leaving the
castle, you will run into a new enemy in this area.  It's an octopus-looking
enemy on land, having a huge head and some tentacles.  This enemy can be very
annoying, and one of the more annoying ones in the game.  Once it appears, it
does nothing but jump around from place to place, and very quickly.  It can
jump from side to side, but also will jump in a diagonal direction, and is
hard to predict exactly what it's going to do.  The bright point is that it
only takes one hit with your sword to kill them, but it is tough to catch them
standing still, since as soon as they land they tend to jump right away.  So
try and avoid them and hit them if they come near you.  At this point, they
should die with one hit from your ninja star, so that might the best way to
kill these guys since you're at a distance.  It's easy to get hit by them, but
they do little damage, so they are more annoying then anything.  Head straight
to the left from Geko Castle and then down through the narrow path of trees.
While you are on this cliff, go around to the left along the rocks and down to
the next section, and then go back up around the rocks to reach the chest that
you just passed.  Inside the chest is a power-up for your throwing knives, so
be sure to get that since their power is weak right now.  From the chest, head
back down and to the edge of the cliff.  Use a ladder in the indent and then
go down and head to the left to get to the next section.

In this area, you will see those masked monk enemies again, with some moving
faster than others, but overall an easy enemy you've seen before.  Go up and
then head straight left, killing the monks as you go, since they give up a lot
of ladders which you can stock up on.  Right now, follow the trees below you
around to the left and straight down.  Looks like you can't go anywhere, but
right beside the rock above the trees is a row of trees you can walk through
going down.  So walk straight down and the go right and up to a cliff with a
chest on it.  Use a ladder to go up the cliff and then get the chest.  Inside
it is an upgrade to your ninja stars.  Once you grab that, head back down the
ladder and left and back up through the path of trees you just walked through.
Now go straight left and down, and then walk in the narrow path to the left to
reach the next area.

You will now be in a new section with different music.  This is the outskirts
of the town of Omi, and just outside the Ise Province.  You'll see a familiar
enemy, which are the floating bubble ghosts you encountered at the start of
the game.  They are just as easy to kill, but this time they move differently.
They still go from side to side, but this time they'll go slowly one way, and
quickly dart back at triple speed the other way, so they can catch you off
guard and hit you.  Just hit them once to kill them, since they still are very
easy.  Some of them still move exactly like they did before.  Anyway, when you
reach this area, just simply go straight down to the next section.  There's a
chest you can't get to yet in the upper-right, and nothing to explore really.
Going up and around will just make a longer way and will take you in a big
circle to just get to where you are now.  So just head south to move on.

In this next section, you'll see a new enemy.  They are goblin looking enemies
that appear in the trees and stay there for a few seconds, and then will dart
straight down to the end of their line, and then come back up and disappear.
It takes two hits to kill them and since they are out of your way most of the
time, they are nothing to worry about.  Just watch out for when they suddenly
run down and back up, since you don't know when they'll finally move out from
the tree.  As for where to go, simply go across the bridge to the left, and go
straight left to the next section.  Don't worry about going south from when
you entered just yet, since you cannot get the chest in the southeast part of
the area just yet.  You need something called a water spider to cross the
river, but you will get one soon enough, and you'll be coming back to this
area a few times a little later anyway, so just wait to get the chest later.

Now that you're in this next area, you'll meet the same frog enemy again and a
new enemy.  It's a big flame and all it does is move one space from side to
side, somewhat quickly, but not that fast.  Just takes one hit to kill the
flame, so it's an easy enemy.  Okay from where you are, just head left across
the bridge and keep going all the way to the left.  This is the area that the
town of Omi is in.  On the very left you'll see a small passage inbetween the
trees.  Go there now to arrive in the home of Kondo's daughter, the person
you've been looking for.  Go talk to her now and she'll confirm that her
father has indeed passed away.  That's all she'll say for now, so leave her
place and then go south and east across another bridge.  Keep going straight
to the right, and then down and left to finally reach the town of Omi.

3.7 - Town of Omi and the Missing Boy
======================================

Now that you have arrived in the town of Omi, be sure to talk to everyone in
here.  There's a person to the left of the entrance that will save your game,
so be sure to do that before anything else.  Go south and talk to some more
people.  One will mention about the old man and Kenji still faithfully serving
the daughter of Kondo.  Another mentions that it's prohibited to pass through
the south gate.  Finally, go talk to the old man above these guys in his home.
He'll ask if you have seen a boy named Kenji.  It turns out that Kenji likes
to take food to Kondo's daughter outside the village.  The old man says that
he has not been seen since he last took food to the girl, so that means you
should head back to see Kondo's daughter to find out more about this.  Go back
out of the village and head west and then a little north to get back to the
home of Kondo's daughter.  Talk to her again and she'll be surprised to here
that Kenji is missing.  She mentions that maybe he snuck through that fence
in the town and went south.  She asks you to help find him, so that's what you
should do.  Go back into the town of Omi and talk to the old man again.  He'll
basically repeat what Kondo's daughter said in saying Kenji must have gone
south of the village.  Turns out the boy likes get fresh fruit from the woods
to take to Kondo's daughter.  So more than likely he got lost or something
while searching south of the village for some fresh fruits.  Go up to the girl
and save if you want, and then head down to the gate.  The sign in front of it
says to not search between fences.  It obviously just makes you want to do
that, which is what you should do.  Search just to the left of the south gate,
and you'll discover a path to exit the town.  Now you'll be in the woods below
the town of Omi.

Now that you are in the woods, your job is to find the boy Kenji.  You'll see
some new enemies in this area.  The first is a mosquito/insect enemy.  It just
flies around in a quick circle motion, but also moves slightly to a certain
direction.  That means it will circle around, but head in a NW or NE direction
so they can hit you.  It's easy to kill them since one hit with either your
star or sword should kill them, but they can move quickly and can be a slight
nuisance to you.  Just kill them as quick as you can and time when they move
to you.  Again ninja stars are the best bet to deal with them.  Also another
new enemy is a skull-whell.  This is an interesting enemy, since he appears
and then goes very slow when it start to move.  It travels in a huge circle
around the whole area, and slowly starts to move faster the longer it goes, so
by the time it completes a circle it is moving fairly fast.  It's not that
tough an enemy, but it's best to kill it when it first appears when it's going
very slow.  It just takes a few hits to bring it down.  overall the enemies
aren't tough once you get used to what they do, and you won't have trouble
with them, so enough about them and on to where to go.

Once you leave Omi, it appears you can't go anywhere, since the small area you
are in is surrounded by trees with no visible path to follow.  But that's just
the thing, there's no visible path, but a hidden one.  If you go straight down
from leaving the town and then move left, you will move through a tree that is
blocking your way to the next little section.  So walk down through that tree
and head right as far as you can and go down through the narrow path and
follow it to the left.  There might be a wizard walking through here, and he
will shoot fireballs out in front and behind him, so wait for him to come up
below you and kill him, and then move on.  Keep going all the way to the left,
and then follow the path up as far as you can until you reach the top.  Then
finally go left and down, and then left to reach the next section.

Now once you reach this next area, four of the mosquito enemies will quickly
appear in a semi circle beside the swamp and then fly up and down straight to
your direction.  So take them out with your stars as soon as they appear.
They continue to appear like this in this area, so be alert on that.  They
appear by the swamp, then in the top-left part, then near the middle, and
repeat that pattern and just fly in a zig-zag motion from left to right until
they fly off-screen.  That's all you will encounter in this area, so just
take them out when you see them coming or simply avoid them.  From where you
entered the area, go left and up around the trees to the dead tree in front of
the chest.  You can walk through it so go straight up to get the item in the
chest, which contains a power-up for your murasame sword.  Now, before
advancing more, head straight to the south until you reach another area.  You
will enter another swamp area with swords that appear and swoop around.  You
need to be very careful here, because you can die quickly if you are hit.
The swords here appear with twos, one pair on each side of the swamp.  They
will kinda semi circle backwards, and then quickly fly diagonal in the other
direction.  So avoid getting in their way, because if you are hit, then you
will receive major damage.  Anyway, make your way down and to the bottom-left
side of this area and you will see a chest blocked by a dead tree.  Walk
through that tree and get the item in the chest, which is an upgrade to your
throwing knives.  This is where you can get hit by the flying swords so always
be aware of them.  When you get the item, make your way back up and to the
left to the area you were just in.  You will be on the left side of the swamp,
so just go up and then left into the next area.

In this next section, go up and left around the rocky area with skulls in the
center.  If you tough one of the skulls, then one of the skull-wheel enemies
will appear and quickly zoom around the area and shoot fireballs, so just walk
around the area to avoid encountering any enemies.  once you go all the way
left and then down, you will see an ogre head in the bottom-left corner of the
area.  It's just like the one you saw in the cave before, so that means it's
time to fight a boss.  So before you enter, heal yourself or go back out to
where the insects appeared and kill some until they drop either meat or an
herb.  Either way, once you have full health, step into the ogre head.  You
will appear in an outside area surrounded by trees and another ogre head in
the top-left part of this area.  When you are ready to battle, then walk into
the other ogre head and the boss will say something to you, then prepare to
fight!

------------
BOSS - Ogre
============
This battle can be a toughie if you aren't prepared or know what to do.  The
boss is a giant ogre that can fly around the room.  He can be incredibly easy
or tough depending on where you stand.  What he does is appear at the very
center of the area and flies in place for a few seconds, then he kinda swoops
to the left by going down and up, and then he releases three tornados in the
upper-left corner. He then swoops back to the center of the area while the
tornados spin around quickly and spread out in a circle.  Then the ogre will
swoop over to the right side of the room and do the same thing.  This is all
he does throughout this battle, so if you know that then this battle will not
difficult at all.  In fact, if you just stand in the area above the ogre, then
you will completely avoid him and only have to worry about the tornadoes.  To
defeat the ogre, right when you step on the ogre head to begin the battle,
quickly go to the right so you will be right above the ogre when he appears.
Then quickly attack him with your ninja sword.  If you are fast enough, then
you can kill him before he even moves once, making this battle a breeze.  If
you aren't fast enough and he starts his attack, then wait above where he was
until he finishes his swooping to the left and then back, and continue your
attack on him when he gets back in position.  If you just do that, then the
ogre will go down in no time, and you'll finish the fight.  At this point,
about eight or so hits with your ninja sword will kill him, so simply lashing
at him quickly on his head when he appears should damage him enough to kill
him.  So overall if you do that simple thing, then this boss can be the
easiest one you'll face, but even with his attacks, he can be beaten easily
before you take any damage.  He's only difficult if you don't know what he
does and then get caught on the side when he swoops on you.  But with my
preparations you will have no trouble beating this boss.

Once you defeat the ogre, go back through the ogre head at the top-left corner
and you will arrive in a small area with two chests.  The one to the right has
a health power-up, and the one at the bottom contains a weapons power-up.  So
grab those two important items and then go back into the ogre head.  You will
then appear in a very small area with the boy Kenji there.  Talk to him and he
will thank you for helping him, and tell you that he was caught picking fruits
by the ogre.  You will then return to the village automatically with Kenji.

When you arrive back in the village, talk to the boy again and he will give
you some fruit in appreciation for helping him.  He'll ask you to take some
fruit over to Kondo's daughter, so we'll do that in a minute.  Now you can
exploit a little bug in the game.  If you talk to the warrior right beside the
boy, then he will give you an herb in appreciation for saving Kenji.  However,
he will always give you an herb each time you talk to him, so from now on you
can talk to him to constantly receive free herbs.  Take advantage of that and
fill up on herbs right now, and come back when you are in the area to fill up
again later if you are running low.  They will refill your life bar by eight
or so points, so they are very nice to have.  Anyway, when you're done with
that, then be sure to speak with the old man.  In appreciate for saving Kenji,
he will give you more power, so now all your weapons will increase again in
power.  Awesome!  Now be sure to save your game with the lady in the top-left
part of town, and when you're done, leave the village to the north.  Head back
over to the house of Kondo's daughter by going left over the bridge, up, and
then left again to enter her place.  Talk to her to give her the fruit from
Kenji, and then she will finally explain to you how this all came to be.

Read what she says about what's been going on.  She'll tell you of what her
father last said, and tell you about the secrets of Shin and all, and tell you
that those secrets were written in three scrolls: the wind, earth, and man
scrolls.  You have to unlock them however, so when the time comes you have to
unlock those secrets to save the country.  You'll also find out that Kondo's
apprentice Goro was eavesdropping and mistook the scrolls for hidden treasures
so he took one from the angered mobs of Iga.  Since then, his daughter left
the town and has lived here ever since.  She says that now is the right time
for you to unlock the secrets of the scrolls, and asks you to find and bring
all three of them.  You'll learn that the scroll taken by Goro was the wind
scroll, while the other two were entrusted to Kondo's old friends as momentos.

Now that you have finished speaking with Kondo's daughter, you have a new
mission to complete.  You now understand more of what's going on and what has
happened lately.  Talk to her again to refresh on what you need to do.  She
will give you a water spider which allows you to walk across rivers when used
on narrowed areas in the water.  This is very useful, and you can now use this
to reach some chests you couldn't earlier.  Use this one to go to Iga for the
moment, but once you use it, then enemies should start dropping them when you
kill them, just like they do for the ladder.  Your misson now is to head over
to the town of Iga and find Goro, and recover the wind scroll.  Talk to the
girl again to learn of who has the other two scrolls.  Turns out the samurai
in the first village has the earth scroll, which is the scroll the ninja thief
took and you recovered for him.  Talk to her a final time to discover your
ninja master has the man scroll with him.  This means that you need to travel
to each of these places in the future to recover the scrolls, for future
reference.  As I said, for now your mission is to recover the wind scroll from
Goro, so when you are ready, head out of her place and let's get started on
the road to Iga!

3.8 - The Road to Iga
======================

Once you leave Kondo's daughter's place, it's time to make your way to the
town of Iga.  If you recall, the town of Iga is south of Ise Province, which
is east of Omi.  So you need to head back to the east, and the go south to
reach the area that Iga is in.  If you want you can go back to Omi right quick
and save your game, which is always a good idea.  If not, then just head
straight to the right, following the river, and then cross the bridge and
leave this area to the top-right.  From here, go straight to the right and up,
and cross the bridge, and then go up at the top-right pathway.  Now just go up
and then right to reach Ise Province.

Now that you are in Ise Province again, you need to make your way to the south
since that is where the town of Iga is.  You can't go south yet, so go all the
way up and then straight to the right until the end, and then head down and to
the right to reach the next section.  Here you'll be in the area just outside
of Geko Castle, but now you can head south.  So head straight down from where
you are now and go to the next area.  Be sure to take the path furthest to the
west, since the other way will ultimately lead you to a path blocked by a
statue which you cannot pass, so you need to go down the westernmost path to
get to Iga.  In this new area, just head down along the path of trees and keep
going until you see a narrow path to the bottom.  Go there to enter a new part
of Ise Province with the town of Iga just to the south.

In this new area of Ise, there is again some new enemies you will face.  The
first one is a ninja.  They do two different things, from this area and the
next.  The ninja is pretty quick when it starts walking, and then once it hits
the end of their line of walking, it will turn in another direction and very
quickly dart in that direction.  However the ninja can go right through trees
so you have to be careful and watch out for them.  They aren't too tough, but
can be dangerous since they are so quick and can move even quicker and pass
through objects.  It just takes one hit to kill them with your sword, so that
is a big help.  In short, the ninja is just like the cyclops enemy you faced
earlier, but a lot quicker and smarter.  You will also see the flame enemy
again, but this time it moves differently.  It will move quickly in a circular
motion, and then suddenly slow up, and then speed up again.  This makes it
more annoying and you can get hit by it easily, but if you are on your toes
then you can avoid and kill it without it touching you.  The ninjas are the
main problem since they move so fast and at random.  Anyway, when you enter
this new area, head straight down and going with the diagonal path of the
trees.  Make your way to the bottom-left area of this section to move on to
the next area.  Ignore the chest over to the right for now, since you can get
it later when you have more water spiders on you.

In this next area, the ninja enemies move differently, and it's a little
easier to predict.  Unlike the others which just walk around at random and
move quickly, these ninjas will only move quickly in a certain direction, and
cannot pass through trees or other objects.  Be careful since they do move
super fast, but they'll look in the direction they will run to before going,
and then they just repeat that pattern.  Head right across the bridge, and
then go down and right across another bridge.  From here, head straight down
until you reach a new area.

In this next area, go right and down along the river.  This is where it gets
tricky.  You'll see a flame just standing to guard the bridge, and after a
short while it will kind of spaz out so to speak and just randomly go around
the inside land surrounded by the river very quickly.  This is where you have
to go since it's a deadend to the south.  This can be tough since the flame
is moving so fast and at random inside.  It seems to have a pattern, so if you
wait and watch then maybe you can pick up on where it's popping around at, but
it's too quick to really matter.  Here's some things you can do.  What I would
suggest is just waiting, and then quickly go in and walk around the edges as
fast as you can.  Do not daudle and never stop moving.  With some luck you can
walk through the area without getting hit, or just getting hit once, which
doesn't do too much damage.  Or you can try equipping the Ninja-Change items
you should have, and then when the flame starts getting close to you, use it
to change to a part of your environment so the flame will not harm you, and
then move on when it wears off.  Either way you do it, just keep along the
river and go down and left until you reach a bridge at the lower-left end of
the river.  You should be able to make it without being hit, but even if you
do, just use an herb which you should have plenty of to refill your health,
and then move on south to the next area.  Again ignore the chest there for now
for when you make your way back.

When you arrive in this area, head to the right and use a water spider on the
hourglass looking part of the river to cross it.  Now you should be able to
get spare water spiders from random enemies that you kill.  Go right and down
and kill the ninja who should drop a water spider.  Use that spider on the
section of river to your left and cross it.  Head left and down through the
narrow path in between the trees.  If you have a spare water spider, then go
to the right and cross the river with it to reach the chest.  Inside the chest
is a power-up to your throwing knives.  Either way, do that and head to the
left and then straight up through the narrow path, and then go left when you
reach the top.  Finally, you have arrived in the town of Iga!

3.9 - Getting the Wind Scroll
==============================

When you arrive in Iga, go around and talk to some of the people.  They will
mostly say how they were once blinded by greed, but regret it now.  They also
mention that they have not seen Goro lately, and suggest that he must be in
hiding.  So now you have to try and find him.  No problem.  Just head to the
west side of the village, and then head down from the tombstones and follow
along the narrow path, and walk through the bigger trees along the path.  Keep
going around and to the right, and then all the way back to the left until you
reach a new section.  Here, you will notice a bunch of stairways going down
into a cave in a maze like way.  Go straight up and talk to the ninja beside
the first set of stairs.  He tells you that a huge evil creature dwells in a
cave southwest of there.  After talking to him, head into the cave by way of
the stairs.

Now that you're in the cave, you'll notice a lot of short pathways.  You will
be going in and out for a little ways in this first section before getting
into the meat of the cave.  When you first enter, head down and around to the
left and go up those stairs.  When you are back outside, head around to the
right and go left, and then down the narrow path to reach the old man that's
at the bottom.  Talk to him to save your game, and then go back up and around
to enter the cave that's close to the old man.  When you are back in the cave,
just go down and exit by the other set of stairs.  Once outside, go to the
right and down until you reach another thing of stairs and go down them.  Go
left into the first set of stairs.  When your outside again, just walk up and
back down into the cave again.  Now go left into those set of stairs.  Go
straight up when your outside to go back in the cave.  Go down and left to
another set of stairs to leave one last time.  When you are back outside, you
will see Goro standing near another entrance.  Talk to him about the scroll.
He will tell you that he no longer has it, but the demon at the bottom of the
pit stole it from him.  The way he says it makes it seem that he's making it
up, but nevertheless, go ahead and enter the cave one last time to the top to
go retrieve the scroll from the monster inside.

Now that you are in the cave this time, you don't have to worry about that
little maze you just went through.  When you first enter, be patient and wait
because one of those samurai/warrior enemies will come down the pathway.  Wait
for him and then kill him as he passes by.  Since you have gotten some power-
ups to your weapons, you can kill them in just three or so hits now, so they
aren't as tough as they were before.  Anyway, go straight up and then follow
the path to the right until you reach the next section.  When you are in this
next section, go right and down through a hidden path in the wall.  Go down
and find another hidden path to the room below, and kill the enemy and get
the item in the chest.  It contains a health power-up so be sure to snag it.
Then go back up through the path, go right and then down all the way to enter
the next section.  Here, go straight down and then go through an invisible
path in the wall to the right, and then kill the patrolling enemy that is
walking through the narrow path.  Wait for a few seconds and don't move, as
another enemy will quickly walk up the path, so kill it and then move on.  Go
down and then to the right.  Now this can be somewhat tricky.  Go all the way
to the left but stop before going into the end pathway, as a quick-moving
warrior is moving up and down.  Also just below you is another warrior that is
going back and forth in the pathway.  What you need to do is wait for the
enemy going up and down to go up, and then start moving down as he does, and
go into that path that the other enemy is on.  Time it so he won't hit you as
you go in it.  Wait for the enemy to move back up past you and then quickly
move down and to the right to avoid being hit.  You can kill them, but they
will quickly appear so it's not really worth it, and you'll more than likely
get hit by trying to kill them.  Anyway, get past them and head right down
the narrow path until you see a black hole.  Fall down that hole.

When you go down the hole, you'll wind up in another part of the cave.  Go to
the right to enter the next section.  In this area, go up the second pathway
leading up, and go to the top, killing the walking sword enemies as you go.
When you are at the top, go to the right until you reach the end, and then go
down the wider path all the way until you see a set of stairs.  Go in them.
In this next section, go up and to the left along the path until you hit the
top.  Kill the ghosts along the way to get some water spiders.  When you reach
the top of that path, then go right and follow the river down and right until
you reach the next area.  When you are here, keep following along the river to
the right and then down at the end where you'll go into another area.  Go down
all the way in this next area until you hit the river.  Use a water spider to
your right to reach the chest that contains a power-up for your murasame sword
and then go back to the left and follow the river that way.  Go until you
reach a bridge and then cross it to the right.  Go straight ahead through a
hidden passage in the wall, and then right to see an ogre-head.  Boss time
coming up, so be sure to heal yourself before entering.  Before going there,
head straight up from the ogre head to the right and keep going up until you
reach the next section.  Keep going up the wider path to the very top, and
then left to reach a chest.  Inside it is a power-up to your ninja sword, so
be sure to get that before fighting the boss, since it'll help out a lot.  Go
back down to the ogre head, and when you are ready, step on the ogre head.
You will enter a walled up room with another ogre head to the right.  Before
starting the fight, I suggest equipping the ninja star on both of your slots.
It will work best for this upcoming boss.  Once you do that and are ready to
fight, step on the other ogre head and you will hear the sound of a huge
insect's wings buzzing.  Prepare to fight!

-------------------
BOSS - Huge Insect
===================
This boss is just a huge version of the mosquito insects you have seen before.
He will appear from the bottom of the room and slowly fly around in a circle
to the left and then up and around to the right, and will then make its way to
the center of the room.  Once he is in the center of the room, he will
release a group or normal size insects that will stay there and then fly
around quickly in a circle and spreading out.  Then the huge insect will start
to fly around again and repeat the pattern.  That's all it really does.  Be
careful though, since if the huge insect runs into you, it can take a huge
chunk off your energy and you'll more than likely die from impact.  Since he
is moving around most of the time, it can be difficult to hit him without
getting hit yourself.  So here's how to beat this pesty insect.  The reason I
suggested equipping ninja stars for both slots is that you can fire two stars
for each slot, meaning you can shoot out four ninja stars in a row.  Since
the huge insect moves around pretty quickly and covers a lot of ground, it's
hard to hit it with your sword and keep up with it without getting hit.  So
it would be best to fire stars at it as it's flying around to keep your
distance.  When the fight begins, get in the center of the room and face down.
The huge insect will start flying in from the bottom and work its way around
in a clockwise fashion.  Start firing as many stars as you can as it flies
around and be sure to connect as many times as you can.  When he flies to the
right then get out of the center and move to the left more.  Then when the
insect flies to the middle, reequip your ninja sword in one of your slots, and
start to attack it with that while it's still.  You can easily hit it now that
isn't moving, since it is releasing smaller insects.  Try to kill the smaller
ones as they fly towards you if you can, but I would focus on the larger one.
If you are quick enough, you can kill the huge insect with your sword in just
a second or so when it finally stops flying.  And even if an insect runs into
you, it won't do much damage - no where near what the huge insect would do.
Overall this boss can give some trouble, and is tougher than the first two,
but if you avoid the main insect itself and pummel it with stars, then this
battle shouldn't be too hard.  The insect goes down within eight hits or so
of your ninja sword.

Once you defeat the huge insect, you'll realize that it didn't have the scroll
after all.  Turns out Goro was lying to you.  Nothing you can do about that
since you already killed the beast he told you about, so walk into the ogre
head on the right side of the room to enter a room with two chests.  The one
to your left contains a health power-up, and the one on top contains a weapon
power-up to all your weapons, so a nice bonus for defeating that boss.  Now
walk back into the ogre head and you'll transport to a different section of
the cave.  From where you appear, go across the bridge to your left and go
left until you hit the river.  Use a water spider to cross this, and then go
up and right and use another water spider to reach the chest.  Inside is a
power-up to your ninja stars.  Go back across and go down.  If you have
another water spider on you, then use it to cross the river to the left and
then head up and left to leave this section.  If you don't have a spare one,
then go back to the right to where you first appeared, and from there go down
and to the left and cross the bridge on the left, and then go up and to the
left to leave this area.  In this area, go to the left along the river, and
then go left some more and straight down.  Kill any of the warriors that get
in your way.  Mid-way down the path go to the left, and then up through the
hidden passage.  This is the area you started at, so you should remember where
to walk.  Go up and left to leave this area.  When you get into this area, DO
NOT MOVE!  Wait a few seconds and one of those samurai warriors will appear in
front of you and then start going forward.  Follow behind him to the end of
the path and then stop when it breaks downward.  Wait for the enemy to come
back up and then kill him.  Proceed going down and then leave the cave by
taking the stairs.

You will now be back outside of the cave, right near Goro.  Talk to him now to
find out why he lied.  He'll be a little shocked at you beating the monster,
and will then confess that he has the wind scroll.  When you tell him that the
scroll actually has nothing to do with treasure, he'll be a little depressed
and say he wasn't aware of it's true purpose.  He'll then give you back the
scroll and tell you to take it to Kondo's daughter.  He'll also ask you to
give her his apologies.  Well mission accomplished!  You found Goro and got
the scroll back from him.  Now what you have to do is get out of here and make
your way back to Kondo's daughter in Omi.  So get ready to backtrack all the
way back there.  When you finish talking to Goro, go back through the set of
caves, and just follow where it leads.  It shouldn't be hard to get out, so no
need to give directions to go back.  When you finally leave the caves, be sure
to talk to the old man to save your game, and then go back up and to the right
and leave the caves for good.  When you are back in Iga, make your way to the
right, up, and then left through the pathway until you get out of there, and
then head east to leave the town of Iga.

Now that you have left Iga, it's time to backtrack.  You should be familiar
with this area since you just came through it.  Here's a quick run-through of
where to go to get back to Omi and Kondo's daughter's place.  Go down all the
way, and then right and up through the pathway.  If you don't have any water
spiders than kill some enemies until you get about two or three.  When you
have some, then go right and use one to cross the river, then go up and left
and use another water spider to cross the river here.  Then go up and left to
exit this area.  Now that you have some water spiders, in this area go up
across the bridge and use a spider to get the chest on the left side.  Inside
is a power-up to your murasame sword.  Again this section can be tough since
the flame is rapidly going through this whole section in-between the rivers,
so carefully follow the river to the right and up to avoid getting hit and
cross the bridge.  Then go up and left to move on to the next area.  In this
part, just go up and then towards the northwest corner by crossing the two
bridges, and then move up to reach the next section.  In this area, go to the
right and use a water spider to finally reach this chest.  In it is a ninja
star power-up.  Head back across the river and then go up.  Still can't get
that chest to the right, so just move up and leave this area.

Now you are in a different part of Ise Province.  From here, just go straight
up, following the path since there's no where else to go.  Once you get to the
next area, simply go up and to the left to reach the next section.  Now go up
and go straight to the left until you reach the end, and then down and finally
go left to move on to the next area.  You are now close to Omi.  When you are
in this area, just go down to move to the next one.  Then go straight to the
left, across the bridge, and keep going until you reach the next area.
Finally, go left across the bridge and walk as far as you can go, and then
go inside the house of Kondo's daughter to the left.

Once inside, talk to her and you'll give her the wind scroll.  She'll get to
work on it right away and says to tell Goro she does not hold a grudge (which
you don't have to do haha).  Talk to her again and she will fully heal you.
That's one scroll down and two more to go.  It's time now to make your way to
the other holders of the scrolls and get them to bring back to Kondo's
daughter.  Before doing that, leave her house and go right until you reach the
town of Omi.  Talk to that guy to refill your herbs if you need to, and then
save your game.  You've come a long way.  Now where you are ready, it's time
to head back to Geko Castle and beyond to retrieve the other two scrolls.

3.10 - Journey for the Other Scrolls
=====================================

Now that you have retrieved the wind scroll, it's time to get the other two
scrolls so Kondo's daughter can translate them.  The best thing to do is head
to Geko Castle as a midway point, and then continue from there.  Whether you
are in Omi or at Kondo's daughters, just make your way out when you are ready
to move on and head to the top-right part of this section to move on.

Here's a short backtrack in directions to get back to Geko Castle.  In this
area, just head straight to the right until the end.  Now go down and to the
left and across the bridge until you get to the bottom-left area of this
section.  Now that you have water spiders, use one to go across this river and
get the chest.  Inside is a (FIND OUT LATER).  If you don't have a water
spider now than just wait until you have one and come back for this chest
later.  You'll be coming back this way anyway.  Go back to the top-right area
where you were and then go up.  Just go up and right to get out of this area
and into Ise Province.  From here, go all the way to the top and then to the
right, and once you reach the end, go down and right to enter the next area.
From here, go right and use a ladder to go up the cliff.  The go all the way
up and through the path between the trees, and then go right through the path
and you'll be back in Geko Castle.

Since you are here, go right and talk to the lady to heal and save your game.
Also, talk to the ninja at the bottom when you first enter to get a water
spider in case you don't have one.  You can get one from him at anytime if you
are out.  There's nothing really new here to find out, so if you're ready to
go, then just head out of Geko Castle from the north.  Don't go east right now
later.  Remember there's that ogre people are talking about that blocks your
way from getting to Shin, and there's nothing you can do in that area.  There
is some chests to get but we'll get those on our way back from getting the
scrolls.

Once you leave, backtrack once more to the village where the samurai lives.
Here's some quick directions to get back there.  From outside the castle, go
straight up to the top and then left to reach the next section.  Then, go up
and left to get to the next part.  Here, go all the way to the left and up
when you get to the statue.  Zig-zag up and right to the top-right corner and
then go right to the next section.  From here go all the way to the right, and
then all the way down going right around the rocks, and down the cliff.  Then
head right to get to the next area.  In this area, follow the narrow path all
the way up and then to the right to the end, and then go down and right to
reach the next section.  Finally, go right and down the cliff, then go around
the cliff to the right and go up until you reach the village.

Now that you are back in the village, go talk to the samurai who has the
scroll.  He says he has the earth scroll, but he will give it to you when you
destroy the evil creature in the east cave.  So now you have to go back into
the cave where the ninja thief was and kill the creature inside.  The same
goes with the Ninja Master, so you'll take out two birds with one stone by
beating this monster.  Now remember when you first went in the cave to beat
the ninja, and there was another section from the ogre head that went to a new
part of the cave?  Well that's where you have to go now to find the evil
creature.  Now that you have water spiders, you can finally cross the river
inside the cave which you couldn't cross before.  So before leaving, go ahead
and save your game with the girl in the southeast part of town.  Then, make
your way to the cave.  From the village, just go straight east to the next
section, and then right across the bridge to get to the cave.  Before going
inside, if you have a spare water spider, then go ahead and use it to get
across the river nearby to get the chest.  Inside the chest is a power-up for
your weapons, so it's worth getting if you can.  If you don't have a spare
spider, then don't worry about it, just come back for the chest later on.
When your done, head back to the cave and go inside.

Now that you are in the cave, make your way back to where you fought the ninja
thief.  From the entrance, go right, down, and left to get to the next part of
the cave.  Then, go straight down, and go left at the tab in the wall to walk
through the invisible path.  Here, go up and then left to where the ogre head
is located.  Now once your in this room, go straight across to the left and
then walk into this other ogre head.  You will now be in a different part of
the cave.  Now that you're here, you'll see a new enemy.  It's a shelled
creature with a big eyeball inside.  What it does is just stay in one place
when it appears, and is harder to kill in this state.  If you wait, then his
eye will appear like he's going to move, and then he'll dart straight down to
where he's looking.  That's all he does, so he's not tough.  You just gotta
wait for him to finally make a move and go, and then you can kill it.  It just
takes one or two hits to kill it.  Anyway, once you enter this area, go right
and down and use a water spider to cross the river.  If you don't have any
water spiders, than kill some of those shelled enemies to get one.  They drop
one every so often.  When you get at least one, then go up along the river
into a new section.

In this next area, there are a couple new enemies.  One of them is a spider.
The spider isn't much to worry about and is easy to kill.  What it does is
go pretty fast in a straight direction and sometimes turns, and then stops.
It then starts to move again and repeats that pattern.  It keeps moving for a
set amount of seconds and then stops, before doing that again.  It does move
fast so that's all you need to worry about.  The other enemy is a devil-
looking monster with horns.  This guy isn't hard at all, since all he does is
move back and forth in a straight line, and turns around back when it hits an
obstacle.  It does constantly move at a steady pace, but has no attack and is
easy to kill, so he's nothing to worry about.  Worst thing is he can take off
four units of health if he hits you, so don't run into him.  Overall, no
enemies that will cause you trouble.  Once you enter this area, go right along
the river and use a water spider to cross the river, and then go down to get
the chest.  Inside is a power-up for your ninja star.  There's nothing else in
this area, so just cross back over the river and go down to the room you were
just in.  When you are back here, go all the way down to the bottom, and then
go left and go down the hole in the floor.  You will warp to a new part of the
cave.

Once you appear in this area, go up and right along the body of water, and
when you get to the top of the water, go up and then left all the way and pass
through the rock to reach a chest.  Inside this chest is a power-up for your
ninja sword, so don't miss that.  Go back to the right all the way, and then
go down the other side of the water and right to go to the next area.

When you are here, there are flying swords floating around.  These can cause
damage so watch out for them.  They fly slowly in an upward diagonal, and then
fly back in the opposite direction, and repeat that process.  Take em out when
they are moving slow to avoid getting hit on their return.  Okay, in this area
you will need a few water spiders to cross rivers, so hope you have some.  Go
kill some more enemies to stock up if you need to.  If you kill the shelled
enemies while they are covered up, before they move, then they should drop a
water spider every time they die.  Anyway, go to the right and use a spider to
cross the river, and then down-right again and use another spider to cross
this part of the river.  Now go right and straight up to the top, and then
left and cross this river to reach the chest.  Get the ninja star power-up
that's inside, and go back to the right.  Now go down and use a water spider
in front of where the ogre head is.  Cross the river and go inside the ogre
head to fight the evil creature the samurai told you about.  You will appear
in a walled up room, with another ogre head at the top-right.  Be sure to heal
yourself if you need to, and get prepared for the boss fight.  When you are
ready, just step on the ogre head and begin the fight!

-------------------
BOSS - Huge Insect
===================
Here we go again.  You have to fight another type of the huge insect you
fought before.  This time it is different.  When you begin the fight, four of
the insect enemies will appear - one in each corner.  They will start to fly
in a clockwise motion around the room and move toward the center.  You cannot
hurt them however, so try to avoid them by going to the left in-between the
spacing they leave while circling.  When they move to the center, they will
kind of circle and stay there, and then suddenly the huge insect monster will
appear.  Get as close to it as you can before it forms so you can hit it.
Then once the huge insect appears, start to repeatedly hit it with your ninja
sword.  He'll only stay still for a second before flying off, so get as many
in as you can.  Now the huge insect can be tougher in this battle, and is one
of the toughest bosses you've faced so far.  It moves a little quicker and
also moves in a different from last time.  It will fly to the right and then
move down and go back to the left, all in a circle.  Basically what it does is
fly around the room in a circle like the smaller insects did, and sometimes
move closer to the center, and after circling the room a couple times it will
go back into the center.  If you don't know where to move then it will be easy
to get hit, and you will lose a HUGE amount of life if the boss runs into you.
That's the toughest part about the battle, since all the insect does is fly,
but it can be quick enough that it will harm you.  Here's how to beat it this
time.  Once the huge insect forms and starts to move, equip your ninja stars
in both your slots, like you did last time.  That way you can attack it from a
distance to avoid being hit.  Once the boss beings to move right, quickly go
to where he was standing and move downward.  When the boss flies back to the
left, hit it with as many stars as you can.  If the insect is going to the top
of the room, then move to the bottom and attack, and if it starts to go to the
bottom, then move to the upper part of the room and hit it.  It's that easy.
You need to focus more on where it's going to fly to and worry about getting
out of the way, and then hit it whenever you can.  If you can get some hits in
with your sword like I said before, and then hit it with about eight stars or
so, then it should die by the time it returns to rest in the center.  That's
all there is to it.  Overall, this boss can be difficult with it's speed and
constant movement, but if you follow my strategy and stand in the right places
then it shouldn't be to difficult to kill.

Once you kill the huge insect creature, go in the ogre head to the top-right
to enter a new area of the cave.  Go to the southwest and down along the path,
and then right to get the chest.  Inside it is an upgrade to your ninja sword.
Now, keep heading right and then all the way up the narrow path until the end
and get the chest here.  It contains a power-up for all your weapons.  After
you get those, then just go down into the ogre head to completely exit the
cave.

Now that you are outside, you need to talk to the Ninja Master and samurai
again to let them know the monster was defeated and to get the scroll.  To
avoid unnecessary walking and such, I'll tell you what the Ninja Master says
when you go talk to him.  Otherwise, you'll have to go to him, then back up to
see the samurai, and then back to the Ninja Master again, and then go back
that way once more to move on.  Kinda monotonous haha.  If you go talk to the
Ninja Master, he'll be glad to see you, then you'll talk about the man scroll,
which he says he has, but then he can't remember which scroll it is, since he
has so many.  He tells you to show him your scroll so he can find the one you
speak of.  Since you don't have a scroll, you'd have to go to the samurai.
Therefore, you'll save the trip by just going to the samurai first and then go
down to see the Ninja Master  Anyway, so from the cave, make your way left all
the way until you get back to the village the samurai is in.  Go speak to him
when you arrive, and he'll be happy to hear that you defeated the creature.
He will then gladly give you the scroll.  Go save your game since you have
done a lot, and go get the last scroll from the Ninja Master.

Now, to get back to the Ninja Master, go all the right back to the cave.  Then
head south from the cave, and then left into the narrow path to get to the
next section.  Now go all the way right and then all the way down to get to
the next area. Lastly, go all the way to the bottom and then go right to get
enter the Ninja Master's house.  Talk to him now that you have the earth
scroll, and he will finally figure out which scroll of his is the man scroll.
He will give you the scroll and then wish you luck on your journey.  Great!
You finally have retrieved the other two scrolls.  Now the annoying part...you
have to travel all the way back to the town of Omi from here.  This will be
some major backtracking again, but isn't too hard.  Just do the opposite of
what I told you to get here.  You should be familiar with how to get back
there now, but just to help out, here's some quick directions to get all the
way to the town of Omi.

From the Ninja Master, exit and go all the way to the next section, then up to
the top and left to get to the next area.  Go right and then up to the cave,
and head straight left from the cave.  You'll make it back to the village, so
save there again if you feel like it, and then exit from the south gate.  Now,
go down and left and up, onto the cliff, and head left to the next section.
Make your way up and then follow the narrow path all the way west and then
south until you reach the next area going to the left.  When you're here, go
up the path onto the cliff, and go up around to the right, and then straight
left to get to the next section.  Make your way southwest by following the
path, and then turn right when your at the bottom to get to the next area.  Go
down to the next section, and then go all the way right, then down and left
and finally go left through the path at the bottom to get back into Geko
Castle.

Since Geko Castle is the midway point, go to the south to save your game and
heal if you want, then go west from here to make your way towards Omi.  Once
you leave the castle, go all the way left, and down until you get to the next
section.  Use a ladder to get down the cliff and then go left.  From here, go
up and all the way to the left and then down, and leave the area to the west.
In this area, go straight down to the next section, and then head all the way
to the left across the bridge until you reach the next area.  Finally, go all
the way to the left and then go into the opening in the trees to reach Kondo's
daughter's house.  Now that you're here, go talk to her and she'll gladly
accept the earth and man scrolls that you just recovered.  She says if she
starts working now, then she will surely unlock the secrets that are hidden in
them.  She says to please see her later, so now would be a good time to save.
Head out of her house and right to the town of Omi, and then restock on herbs
from that guy if you need them and save your game.  Once you do that, come
back to see Kondo's daughter and she will have some info for you.  This is
when you finally start to uncover the secrets in the scroll and for finding
and defeating Shin.  Talk to her to find out about what to do, and then it's
off to discover the secrets, which will be discussed in the next section.

3.11 - Finding the Secret Passage
==================================

Okay, once you give Kondo's daughter the scrolls and speak to her again, she
will tell you what she has figured out from them.  She says she has discovered
the secret of the wind scroll.  She tells you that there is a well in Geko
Castle which leads to a cavern.  You now need to go back to Geko Castle and
check all the wells there to find which one leads to the cavern.  That's your
mission for right now, so leave her house and begin to make your way back to
Geko Castle.

Here's another quick briefing on how to get back to Geko Castle.  From her
house, just go up and all the way right to the next section.  Go straight to
the right until the end, and go up, and then quickly go right to enter Ise
Province.  From here, go all the way up and then to the right until you get to
the end, and then go down and right to enter the next area.  Now just go up
the cliff and keep going up to the next part, and finally go to the right
until you make your way back into Geko Castle.

Now that you are here, it's time to do what Kondo's daughter said and find the
well that leads to a cavern.  As you can see there are a lot of wells in this
place.  Only one will go to the cavern though.  If you have explored this
castle before, then you might recall a so called dead-end on the far right
side of the town with just a well on the end.  If you were thinking like me,
then you might have wondered why a well was so out of the way and nothing else
was around it of importance.  Something had to be special about it or the area
there.  Well if you thought that then you were right!  That well is the one
that leads to the cavern.  To get there, go straight to the right from where
you entered the castle until the end.  Then go up past all four of the people
that tell you about your weapons until you hit the top.  Go around to the
right and then down to reach the lone well.  Click on it to warp to the hidden
cave.  Don't go anywhere in here yet, since you will come back soon.  What you
need to do now is leave the cave and then go back to Kondo's daughter to let
her know about it.  So walk into the rock that you appeared on top of to get
back to Geko Castle and begin making your way back to Kondo's daughter.

Leave Geko Castle from the west like you came in, and then backtrack to Omi
and where Kondo's daughter is.  Simply go left and down to the left, then use
a ladder to get down the cliff and go left.  Go up and all the way left and
then down and left to enter the next area.  Simply go down to the next section
and then go all the way left until you get to the next section.  Finally, go
left all the way and enter the house of Kondo's daughter.  Talk to her and she
will tell you what the earth scroll says.  She'll tell you that it says to
check the east wall of the deepest cave.  So go check the east wall at the end
of the cave when you enter the well from Geko Castle.  Now make your way back
to Geko Castle and into the cave.  I won't give backtrack directions since you
have done this several times and can surely make your way back to Geko Castle.
When you get back to Geko Castle, go all the way right and then up and around
to get to where the well is.  Be sure to save your game and heal with the girl
when you enter Geko Castle.  When you're ready, go into the cave through the
well.

Once you enter the cave, you'll run into similar enemies.  You'll see the
devil looking enemy and also those octopus enemies.  However, they move
completely different in this cave.  They quickly move straight across a short
distance, and then kinda hop up and down quickly in the opposite direction,
and then repeat that.  They are probably easier to kill now since they are
predictable and you don't have to worry about them hopping on you from another
direction.  Just using a ninja star will kill them so you can keep your
distance.  Anyway, it's time to make your way through the cave and find that
part of the east wall in the deepest cave that you are supposed to do.  There
is something else you can do here.  Though it isn't required, it is very good
to do, which I'll explain how to get there right now.

As soon as you enter the cave, go down to the bottom and right to the river
and use a water spider at the last river section to cross it.  Go right and
enter the next area of the cave.  When you are here, four swords will appear
in a diagonal line to the right of you.  They move in the same manner as they
did in the other caves...going slowly to the right and up, and then dart back
in a southwest diagonal direction.  Again, they can cause major damage, so try
your best to avoid them, or kill them when they are moving slowly.  They will
reappear once you destroy one, so be aware of that.  Anyway, once you get into
this area, go all the way right and up, and use a water spider to the left.
If you have an extra water spider, then use one across the river section just
below to get the chest.  It contains a power-up to the murasame sword.  You
can restock on some more just ahead by killing some enemies, so come back to
get the chest if you don't have enough spiders.  Whatever you do, go across
the river after using a spider on the top-most section and go left and then
up along the river into the next section.

In this part, you can only go straight up along the river.  Go along the left
side because shelled enemies are on this side, and can come down without you
seeing them and hit you.  Go to the very top on this side of the river, and
get right beside the top-most shelled enemy.  If you stand between where
there's a rock right on top of you and to the left, you can get right beside
the shelled enemy when it appears and kill it for some water spiders.  It will
drop a spider each time you kill it while it's shelled up, so keep doing that
to stock up on water spiders.  When you're done, go up and right and use a
spider to cross the river.  Use another one just to the right to cross this
river, and go to the right to enter the next area.

In this area, go straight to the right until you reach a river with a chest on
the other part.  Use a spider and get the chest, which has a ninja-star power-
up, and then go down all the way and into the next section.   In this part, go
all the way to the bottom from where you are and go right into the next area.
Be careful here, because there are swords that move differently in this part.
They move in a pure zig-zag pattern, going up.  They move quickly to the NW,
and stop for a second, and go NE in the same manner, then stop, and repeat.
Again, they do a lot of damage so avoid getting hit by them.  Just watch out
for them as you go down.  Before leaving this area, there's a chest in the
top-left part of the room that you should get.  It contains a power-up for
your throwing knives.  You have to pass through some rocks, so here's where to
go.  First, when you're at the bottom where you can exit to the right, go up
and left to that open section of wall.  Go along the top part of the wall and
move left to pass through a rock, then go left until you pass another rock.
Stand on the second rock that you can pass through and go up and stop when you
come across another passable rock.  From that rock, walk straight to the left
and to the wall.  Then go up along the wall and pass through another rock, and
then up to reach the chest.  Once you get it, go back out the same way, and
then get to the next section from the bottom-right part of this room.  When
you enter the next area, there are more swords that do that pattern, but they
mirror each other.  Go to the top-right section of this large room to get to
the next section.

When you enter this area, you will notice flames that appear and reappear in
different areas.  You cannot kill them, so you have to wait.  They work in a
pattern.  They block your path to certain areas by appearing for a little
while in one place, and then disappearing and appearing at another place.
Then they'll reappear back where they were, so you just need to wait for them
to move before advancing.  From where you entered, make your way up and to the
right, going through two rocks along the left part of the path going up to the
next section.  You'll go through the other area of this room later on, but for
now go this way to do that special thing I said you can do.

When you arrive in this area, wait a few seconds for two swords to form in
front of you and move out, then head left and up and use a water spider to
cross the river and get the item in the chest.  Inside is a power-up for all
your weapons, so get that.  Now it appears as if your at a dead end, but you
are not.  Go up from the chest and right along the pond and pass through two
rocks to get out of that.  Use a water spider to cross the river to the right,
and then follow the short path and use another spider to cross the river again
on the right.  While doing that, be sure to watch out for the swords that can
come up from below and hit you.  Once you cross the river, go all the way up
to the top, and go left along the wall.  You'll pass through two more rocks
and will reach a set of stairs.  Go up the stairs.

You will now suddenly appear right behind the Ninja Master's house where you
began the game.  Go down and talk to him.  You have discovered the secret
passage!  He'll ask you how you found it, and he will then give you a great
gift, so to speak.  He says he'll make sure that your water spiders never run
out on you.  Then viola!  You now have an unlimited supply of water spiders!
Awesome!  This is a very big help as it's hard to get them sometimes, so now
you never have to worry about having enough spiders to pass certain areas.
When you are done here, go back up into the secret passage to get back to the
cave you were in.  Now it's time to do what Kondo's daughter said and find
that area in the wall.

When you are back in the cave, go back to the right, down, and left across the
rivers.  Then go left, down, and make your way out of this section.  Now from
here, go down and make your way to where you first entered this room, but do
not leave here.  Now you should make your way to the other part of the room.
From the entrance to the room, go straight to the right, and down to where a
flame is blocking this path past a rock.  Go down, then left and up around the
rock and head down, and go through the rocks where a flame might be blocking
the way.  Go straight to the right in the narrow path and get the chest at the
end.  It contains a power-up for your throwing knives.  Get it and go back to
the left and out of here to where you first went down.  Make your way right
and up, past the flame blocking the path, and go right to get to the next
section.  From here, go straight down and use a water spider to cross the
river mote to get the chest.  It contains a power-up to the murasame sword.
Go back to the left across the river, and go up and all the way to the right.
Exit this area to the right to get to the eastern-most part of the cave.

You are now in the room where you have to search that area that Kondo's
daughter told you about.  There are no enemies here, as you can't use your
weapons.  Now listen carefully to where to go, since you have to pass through
some rocks to get to this area you need to search.  From where you entered, go
right and stop at the rock, and then go straight down along the wall to near
the bottom.  Stop just above the rock and go around the rock to the right, and
keep going down until you hit the wall.  Now walk to the right, until you see
a second thing of where there's a rock just above two rocks.  What I mean is
that there are two rocks, with a space between it to walk into, with a rock
just above that to block your path.  So go right to where you pass three rocks
right beside each other, and go up when there's a space, between two rocks.
You can walk through the rock just above here, so go up and through it to hit
another rock, go straight right and stop at the rock in front of you, then go
up to pass through another rock.  Now just go right into the space in the wall
and search it.  You will notice something, and then realize it's a path to
Yama Province!  Just where you need to go!  You avoided the unbeatable orge
that blocked your path east of Geko Castle to get to here by finding the
secret passage.  Going east of here will eventually lead you to Kai Province,
which is where the evil Lord Shin dwells.

Anyway, before you advance any farther, you need to head back all the way to
see Kondo's daughter, so you can let her know that you found a secret passage
into Yama Province.  You can return to the cave by going down the stairs, then
go back through the cave to return to Geko Castle.  I will assume you know how
to get back through the cave, since it will be a lot of pointless backtracking
info to give you.  Then make your way back to Kondo's daughter's from Geko
Castle, which you've done several times already.  When you return, you will
see Goro there instead of Kondo's daughter.  Go talk to him to see what's
going on, and he'll let you know that he came here to see her (like he said he
would when you got the scroll from him), and will also say that she was
kidnapped by ogres.  As Goro got there, an ogre appeared from no where and
then both of them disappeared.  She yells out something to him, which goes as
follows: "use the offering in the middle of three graves at the east end of
Yama."  That will be your next mission now.  Goro will give you an offering
that he made, so you can use that.  Now it's time to head back to Yama and
figure out where the ogre took Kondo's daughter, and what the purpose of the
offering is that she wants you to make.  When you're done talking to Goro,
leave and go to Omi to save, stock up on herbs, etc.  Then go back to Geko
Castle, through the cave, and back to where you enter Yama Province.  Be sure
to save each time you are in Geko Castle and heal there.  Anyway, once you are
done with all that and are ready to advance, go to Yama Province, and let's
move on!
