Notes before reading this document:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) This document is NOT a tier list or a movelist. It's a brief
description of the differences of Mortal Kombat for Arcade,
Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, PC and TV Games so don't
expect anything answered such as "Which character is top-
tier?", "How do you do this specific move?" or anything
on doing certain combos. If this is not the information you
are looking for, please close this text now.

Version Changes:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.01 - February 25, 2007:
-Added a few more points.
1.00 - February 6, 2007:
Compilated on February 6, 2007 around 6:33pm and finished
around 7:27pm since I knew most of this stuff from a long
time ago and I wanted to make a FAQ about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Differences:
*There is a lot of differences out there which compare the
arcade version to the popular console versions (I didn't
write in the Game Boy, Game Gear and unofficial NES
versions in here). Here is a list to which have differences
from the arcade version.
*The only versions that come close are the PlayStation 2
version which is located in the Kollectors Disc in Mortal
Kombat: Deception and Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe
Edition for PC.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Super Nintendo:
-There is no credit screens to where you choose between
fight and options. There are only 2 options with the dragon
logo; Tournament and Options.
-When a fighter's biography gets shown, they don't show
a close-up portrait of the character, they show the win pose
of the character's sprite. Same thing with Goro.
-Test your Might segments are done after a fight, not
before a fight.
-Sub-Zero's fatality is that he doesn't do a Spine Rip, he
does an Ultimate Freeze then breaks the opponent with a
close HP.
-Cage's fatality is that he doesn't do a Decapitation Upper-
cut, he does a Shadow Kick which impales through the
opponent.
-Rayden's fatality is slightly altered as he doesn't blow the
opponent's head off with an electric beam, the opponent's
body turns into ashes and the head turns into a skull.
-You don't see the opponents heart when Kano does his
Heart Rip fatality.
-Cage can't do a Split Punch on Goro.
-There is no blood when a character gets attacked. The
blood palette is brown instead of red instead.
-Every character's ending doesn't have portraits. Instead,
they do their victory pose under their sculpture in the
Warrior Shrine as their ending in text is slowly shown.
-There are no body parts or blood located in the bottom
of The Pit.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Sega Genesis/Sega CD:
*The slight difference between Sega Genesis and Sega
CD is that there are loading times, there is an intro video
and that the music is more high tech.
-In the Sega CD version, the game may freeze or load
more longer if pressed Start during certain points of
the intro video.
-There are slight animation frames missing when the
character does their stance.
-There are altered (and noticable) sound effects such
as when a character gets hit and when a character does
an attack.
-The upper text near the energy bars in the fight don't
match the arcade version.
-There is different music in parts of the game such as
stages, character select and endings compared to the
other versions.
-Every character has a slight loading time before they
do their fatality. When the screen goes slightly darken
right before the character does it is where you'll see it.
-Every character in the Test your Might segments are
lightly shaded and they do their animation when their
energy builds up. They also wear the same costume
instead of altered color/shade during the segment
before a mirror match.
-The energy build up in the Test your Might segments
resets to the bottom instead of slowly decreasing.
-Sonya should have a seperate sound of her chopping
the item in the Test your Might segment but it's been
replaced and she sounds like every other character who
does the chop on the item, who are all male.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) PlayStation Portable (marketed under Midway Arcade
Treasures: Extended Play):
-There are no credit screens to where you choose between
fight and options.
-The "Goro lives" screen does not darken for the text.
-The Throne Room does not scroll as far to the right as
it should.
-Stage music is turned down very low.
-All special moves are much louder then they should be.
-The courtyard music is turned down super low, making
it almost silent.
-Kano's victory yell has been replaced with Goro's roar.
-Sonya should have separate jumping sounds for straight
and diagonal jump, however both have been replaced by
the sound of her attacking. Sonya only has one voice
sample when being killed.
-Various intro screens are missing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4) DOS:
-Due to codes about DIP switches, things can be toggled
such as blood, fatalities, CPU recovery and credits.
-There are sound errors (slight or permanent) if played on
a Windows XP. Majority sounds in the game are beeps
when a player does an attack, character being chosen,
etc...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5) TV Games:
-There are slight animation frames missing when the
character does their stance.
-The upper text near the energy bars in the fight don't
match the arcade version.
-All stages have been shortened which is highly noticable
in the match.
-Liu Kang's sound of when he does a jumping kick, he
does his scream of when he gets hit by Cage's split
punch.
