Lazlos' Leap is a fairly simple-to-understand puzzle game with 100
different puzzles, with some devious actual puzzles. It was developed by Hect, a
Japanese company that appeared to specialise in puzzle games. Lazlos' Leap is
really just a game form of an uncommon board game known as 'Peg Solitaire', and
indeed the game was simply titled 'Solitaire' in Japan, adding a smattering of a
nonsensical story to the English localisation for the new title.

------------------------
HOW TO PLAY LAZLOS' LEAP
------------------------
In Lazlos' Leap, you are given one hundred different puzzles of an
identical format. Each puzzle has a cross-shaped playing table where marbles are
laid down at the start of a puzzle - two rows of three marble slots, three rows
of seven marble slots, and then a final two rows of three marble slots. It is a
very slight modification of the English Peg Solitaire Board, as games may start
with a marble in the centre slot.

To play the game, you need to have two marbles side by side, and a free
slot next to either marble that is directly aligned with both marbles. If you
pick one marble up, you can have it 'jump' over the other marble and into the
empty slot opposite it. In so doing, you eliminate from the table the marble
that you jumped over. You can ONLY move a marble if you jump over another marble
- you cannot move a marble a space or two over an empty space.

The goal of each puzzle is to eliminate every marble but for one, and
for the last move to result in the final marble being placed into the centre
slot, 'D4' in the parlance of the format used in the sample puzzle solutions
below. This slot is indicated by a flashing star (when there is not a marble
over top of it).

To get the overall idea of 'Peg Solitaire', here is a Wikipedia link on
the topic:

---
PAR
---
You will notice a stat for each puzzle called 'PAR'. PAR does not refer
to the number of marbles you jump over, but rather how many marbles you must
take control of and make jump to solve the puzzle.

In Puzzle #2, for example, you have a 'PAR' of 2. You can use a single
marble to eliminate every other marble except for one, which counts as a single
step, and then you use the remaining marble to eliminate the first marble and
land in D4, which counts as Step 2, satisfying the PAR of 4.

When using a single marble and jumping multiple times, you can speed up
by indicating the first spot you wish to, pressing the A button just once to
mark it, then go and highlight the next spot you wish to jump to, and so on.
Once you have a series of several jumps selected, double-tap A on your last jump
spot to execute a far quicker series of jumps than doing each single jump by
hand.

-----------
FILE SET-UP
-----------
Two files can be made with completed puzzles and pars saved for each
file. You can use up to eight characters for each file name. To erase a file,
select the 'ERASE FILE' option, highlight the file you wish to erase and press
the A button.

------------------------
CHANGING BETWEEN PUZZLES
------------------------
You are NOT required to complete the puzzles in order. While playing a
puzzle, press Select to open up your Player menu, then Start to scroll through
any of the 100 puzzles.

Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the
link below. You do not have to buy anything right away, but (if you do not clear
browser cookies often) any items you buy within the next 90 days will count as a
'referral order' to me, meaning I get anywhere from 4-6% as a referral/affiliate
payment of what you ordered (ie. order $100 worth of stuff, I get $4-6 from
Amazon.com)

Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you
have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending
them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of
obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even
better, a manual) is superior to not. You can email me if interested at
