A very simple level. The Bonus Blocks on the left and right will not appear
until your ball hits them for the first time. From there, every subsequent
hit will accumulate points as normal. There are two enemies at the top of
the screen that you can hit. If you hit them, they each leave behind an item
worth a marginal amount of points.

A bit harder than the first stage because the blocks are much closer to
the spikes at the bottom. Do not forget to grab the Warp Star in the center
of this stage, as it will take you to a bonus round where you can gain
many 1-Ups. There are two enemies in this level you can hit for bonus points
as well.

This is one mother of a stage 3. The blocks are bunched in so close, and when
you hit the large ones, they split into four 1x1 blocks. This level can take
you a while unless you have an Ability like Spark or Burn. And you won't
have one at this point in the game. There is a single enemy in the blank
spot on the left side. It is impossible to get the "highest possible score"
on this stage, but this is the highest score you can get "in theory". This
applies to every stage with a Bonus Switch in it. I will denote what stages
it is actually possible to get such a score.

A neat trick you can do on this level: When you launch the ball at the start,
launch it to the left at a 75 degree angle. It hits the first star block. Let
it bounce off your paddle and hit the second star block. From there, use your
Power Ball (A Button at paddle/ball contact) and your power ball should
bounce in between the left row of Star Blocks, so you get all of those at once!
Anyway, hit the Cappa at the top four times, then grab the Warp Star to
complete this level. Make sure you hit all the Star Blocks in the level.

Cappa just stays in the center until he attacks your side paddles by quickly
moving over there. To dodge the attack, move your side paddles up. After you
drain his six HP, he changes to the next phase.
Phase II

Cappa's ghost just moves back and forth with a rotating shield of four smaller
Cappas to protect him. This shield can be destroyed by hitting it with your
ball a couple of times. He just moves back and forth over a small area and
cannot attack you. Defeat him and you get 50,000 points.

As with Stage 4 of Level 1, you can fire a Power Ball in between the row of
Power Blocks and the left or right wall and take all seven of them out at once.
The Power Blocks can be cleared with the Power Ball only. There are three
enemies you can defeat for items here. You will need to clear every block
on this screen to move on to Stage 2. I have achieved the maximum possible
score on this level. It isn't that hard; you just have to be a little lucky
with the enemies.

This is not a very tough level at all. With all the Dark Blocks and Power
Blocks out there, the best strategy here would be to wipe out as many blocks
as possible before hitting the Bonus Switch. There are two enemies at the
top that can boost your score.

To complete this level, you have to hit Squishy four times, then grab the Warp
Star. Getting all the Star Blocks on this level can prove to be tricky, as
there are four Pinball Blocks that tend to get in your way.

him, he enters Rage Mode. This means he moves a lot faster, and spits your
ball back at you if you hit him from the front. Good news is, when he does
this, he reverts back to normal.

The warp star is hard to get at unless you know where it's at. The Spark
Ability is located right above the two small 1 blocks. This is a very easy
stage if you don't lose your Ability. It's very easy to get a perfect score
on this level.

The infamous "Bonus Chance" of chance. To get a good score on this level,
you have to be very lucky. There are two enemies, each guarding one entrance
to the blocks. The Spark Ability is located above the top row of unbreakable
blocks. Even if you succeed, you don't get a lot of points in the Bonus
Chance.

I know the diagram is very messy and confusing, but there are a lot of vertical
blocks on this level. The Bonus Chance isn't all luck like the last one, but
it's still hard. The Bonus Block won't appear until you hit its location first.
This level is going to make or break your Border Line chances. If you can clear
the right half of the board before you hit the Flip Block, it will be very
advantageous.

Getting max points out of both Bonus Blocks is the hardest part of this
stage, even more than getting all 24 Star Blocks. Hit Kabu four times
and grab the Warp Star to advance to the next stage.

The giant Kabu sends out six smaller Kabus at a time. If they contact your
paddles or Star Blocks, the paddle will shrink or the Star Block will go away,
revealing the spike it covered. If you don't have your Ability, try to use
the Power Ball the entire time. If you have the Ability, this is extremely
easy because the Giant Kabu does not move.

This is a very tough level to clear Border Line on, especially on the initial
attempt. The best strategy here is to come with the Burn Ability from Level 8
and use it well, especially on Stages 2 and 3.

The most frustrating part of this level is when you have to juggle both balls
at the bottom of the screen. It's nearly impossible to keep them both in play.
There's even less room on the top, with spikes up there as well.
Otherwise, flip the ball up into the overhang and watch the blocks go away.
If you got over 15000 on this level, pat yourself on the back.

There are a couple of enemies on the lower half of this level that will give
you some goodies. This Bonus Chance is on the difficult side. With all the
high-end blocks here, it would be an excellent idea to clear as many as you
can before hitting the Bonus Switch. The Burn Ability helps take out the
blocks on the sides, including BOTH Bonus Blocks. You can also use the Burn
Ability here to trap the ball inside of a Pinball Block for a limited amount of
time. You can usually get an extra 1000 or so points out of it. You can do this
again in Level 6.

This is the hardest level in the game so far. It is extremely frustrating
to lose balls on the side spikes here. If you hit the Bonus Switch before
you hit the Warp Star, the Warp Star will turn into a Bonus Block.

can bounce a Power Ball off of the slanted wall on top, you can get ten of the
Star Blocks that are hard to reach. The Power Ball will also take care of the
ten Power Blocks in the center.

moves fairly quickly across the screen, making it hard to use Stone
effectively. If you have your timing down well, then use Stone by all means!
This guy attacks your bottom Star Blocks and paddle pretty relentlessly,
but leaves the other sides alone, which is why it is so dangerous to miss
with Stone.

First off, beat both of the enemies roaming in between the Power Blocks and
Unbreakable Blocks and take their goodies. Now, you have to fire a Power Ball
up the narrow path to break one of the Power Blocks guarding the Bonus
Switches and the Bomb. If you can avoid it, try not to hit the second Bonus
Switch until after you've hit the blocks that were protected by the
Unbreakable Blocks the Bomb destroyed.

This is almost a carbon copy of the battle with Squishy in Level 2, except
that he can attack your side paddles by rolling (quickly!) from side to side.
This is the only time he is vulnerable from the front. Otherwise, when you
hit him from the front, he'll throw your ball in one of four directions. There
are also platforms here that can get in your way. Burn doesn't work very well
because it goes up the screen, and he's not vulnerable from that direction.

screen. This is not very tough. But his next form is.

NOW we get to the good stuff. Kracko moves across the screen fairly fast,
making him hard to hit. He can also emit a bolt of lightning that shrinks
your top and bottom paddles. This is extremely hard to dodge, so live with
it. Being able to temporarily stop with Needle makes it easier to get Kracko
to run into your ball. After a hard fight, he will drop and you gain the usual
50,000 points.

This stage can be quite a pain. When your ball gets stuck in one of the side
columns with the unbreakable blocks, fire off your Ability so you don't go
back out the way you came, because when it hits the Pinball Block on the way
back, you will have a very awkward hit on the ball and likely lose a life.
Once you get the Bomb in the center, this level becomes a lot easier.

No Mini-Boss in this stage. The warp star appears right away. Get as many
of the blocks as possible before touching the star, because doing so ends the
stage and moves you to the final boss.

Phase I

DeDeDe just stays in the center, tossing bombs at your lower paddle and Star
Blocks. This isn't too tough.
Phase II
HP: 8
Now he can't attack, but he'll absorb all shots from the front and send the
ball flying back at you. Keep the ball in the upper half of the screen to
get him to advance to his final form...
Phase III
HP: 8
Now we get to the good stuff! He jumps to the center of the screen, then fires
a missile at EACH of your paddles. It is tough to dodge this while keeping
the ball in play, so you may end up playing with shrunken paddles for the
majority of this plase. After eight hits, he will drop, leaving the ending
and a juicy 100,000 point bonus with him.

14. Bonus Games
---------------
By grabbing a Warp Star in the first 10 levels, you will be taken to Bonus
Land, where you can play one of four Bonus Games.
Bonus Game I: Up Down
This is an easy game to win at, but a very tough game to get 3-Up on.
You have to hit the tiles that cascade from the top of the screen until
each column shows the same tile. DeDeDe's mug gets you 1-Up, a Star gives
you 2-Up, and Kirby's mug nets you the elusive 3-Up. You have 60 seconds
to do this.
Bonus Game II: Star Catcher
This is easily the hardest of the four games, but it is the most rewarding
if you can get a perfect score. Catch the stars Kirby shoots at your paddles,
but avoid the Bombs at all costs. If you catch a Bomb, bonus game over. You
get a 1-Up for every ten stars you collect. If you can get all the stars and
avoid all the Bombs, you get an extra 2-Up, beinging your total to 5-Up.
Bonus Game III: Air Hockey
This is the easiest game to get 3-Up on. When you launch the ball, head over
to the far left, then go back to the far right when the cursor approaches the
right. Shoot the ball forward and a little to the right and you get an
automatic first goal. From there, hit A when the ball hits your character to
perform a Power Shot. There is no excuse not to make at least two goals, and
consequently, earn two extra lives, if you know that little detail about
launching the ball.
Bonus Game IV: Up Cloud
I don't recommend playing this game. It's difficult to get anything but a
1-Up, and you're too liable to lose the ball. Hit the clouds from the bottom.
When a cloud reaches the top, the bonus game is over and you win the indicated
prize, up to 3-Up.
