I dedicate this to the NES fans out there, as this one is part of the NES
FAQ completion Project of 2004, courtesy of the FAQ Contributor Board.  We
honour the most truly awesome and great system... the Nintendo Entertainment
System!  Never mind about Atari, Commodore 64, Colecovision, Sega Master
System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, or any of the
newer systems, we all know that the good old NES is where true gaming is at!

Also, for Cougar, Howler, and Koonce.  I miss you, and I hope you are living
it up in the afterlife as you did in this world.  You will always be in my
memories, and you will never be forgotten.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------Introduction---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Here is a game that you can just tell was designed to be Tetris rip-off
(I mean, the name is just a dead giveaway after all), but it actually has
evolved into its own little game thanks to the programmers.  Your goal
is to clear hats, making use of shrewd moves and your Worker Moves to get
further into things.  All in all, well worth a few days of attention
before you move onto something else, so give it a try!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Basic Controls--------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) This section will give the controls to help in clearing the Hats from
  your work area.

D-Pad   : LEFT and RIGHT move the hats in the corresponding directions. DOWN
moves the hats down till one hits a pile, stopping the descent,
allowing more movements, including a second DOWN to move to a
         pile.

SELECT  : No apparent use.

START   : Pauses/unpauses the game.

B Button: Starts a Worker Move.

A Button: Switches Hat positions as well as makes selection during Worker
         Move.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Game Rules----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) This section will go over the rules that dictate how the game is played.

                             o--------------o
                             | Hat Clearing |
                             o--------------o

The hats have to be cleared vertically, so try to group them accordingly.
It takes five Hats of the same type in a row to remove them, so try to not
mix up types or you will have to try and clear a big, mixed pile.

                              o-----------o
                              | Hat Count |
                              o-----------o

Within each level is a Hat Count, which is the number that must be cleared
before the level is cleared.  The first Level (Level 0) has 15 Hats to be
cleared out, and that number increases by 1 with each new level achieved.

                             o--------------o
                             | Worker Moves |
                             o--------------o

You will see two meters on the right, one for each Worker.  Once you have
filled up all five portions of one Worker's meter, his face will be moved up
into the box above, allowing a Worker Move to be used.

                              o------------o
                              | Cashing In |
                              o------------o

After the Hat total for your current level has been cleared, you will have
the option of "Cashing In" any Worker Moves that you have built up through
the clearing of the Hats.

Cashing In = [500 X (Level # Cleared + 1)] + [500 X (Height # + 1)

                              o-----------o
                              | Hat Types |
                              o-----------o

As you progress forward in the levels (provided you are on Level 0, Height 0
to start), new hats will begin appearing with each new level (until the
Crown appears).  However, if you begin on Height 1 or higher, regardless of
what level you choose, all the Hat Types will be in the field of play right
from the beginning.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------Hat Types----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) This section will examine all the Hat Types, including their appearance,
  stacking height, and clearing points.

                                o-----o
                                | Cap |
                                o-----o

Appearance.....: Red and white with an "H" on the front.
Stacking Height: Medium.
Clearing Points: 120.

                             o------------o
                             | Cowboy Hat |
                             o------------o

Appearance.....: White with an orange stripe.
Stacking Height: Small.
Clearing Points: 80.

                               o-------o
                               | Crown |
                               o-------o

Appearance.....: White and red hat of a King or Queen.
Stacking Height: Large.
Clearing Points: 300.

                               o-------o
                               | Derby |
                               o-------o

Appearance.....: Black with an orange stripe.
Stacking Height: Minimal.
Clearing Points: 50.

                              o---------o
                              | Top Hat |
                              o---------o

Appearance.....: Tall, black hat.
Stacking Height: Very large.
Clearing Points: 150.

                             o------------o
                             | Wizard Hat |
                             o------------o

Appearance.....: Tall, red hat.
Stacking Height: Very large.
Clearing Points: 200.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------Worker Moves---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) This section will look at the two Worker Moves that can be performed.

                               o---------o
                               | Stacker |
                               o---------o

He is the blond haired fellow in the bottom right corner.  He will be
allowed to exchange ONE pile to another space.  However, if you pick up a
pile and then accidentally set it back down right away, that counts as his
Worker Move.

                             o-------------o
                             | Hat Remover |
                             o-------------o

He is the red haired fellow at the top of the screen.  He will be allowed to
pick out ANY FIVE hats from the bottom of ANY OF THE PILES.  This is a great
way to lower a stack that is made up of lots of different types of Hats.
Just note that once a hat is removed it is gone for good, so choose
carefully!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Strategies----------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

6) This section will look at a couple strategies to maximize your gaming
  abilities.

a) Perhaps the most important strategy is to build your stacks in height,
from smallest to largest.  This means that you will have to get the stack
made up that way from one side to the other (does not matter what side
you start at), allowing the placement of the higher stack type of hat
first, then moving through the open space to land the second hat on it's
  proper stack.

b) Although the Wizard hat and the Top Hat are tall to begin with, if you
stack them with their own type, very little room will be occupied by them
as a group (as opposed tot he Cap or the Crown which take up a lot of
room regardless of what type of hat they are stacked with).

c) Using DOWN to drop them will gain you some extra points, so be sure to
take advantage of this when you aiming for a High Score because those
small points really do add up!

d) Make use of your Worker Moves to your advantage.  Although saving them
for "Cashing In" is a great idea for getting a super high score, you may
not last long enough to achieve that high score you dream of.

e) Speaking of Worker Moves, the Stacker is a great way to re-arrange your
stacks to resemble the strategy mentioned in a).  The Hat Removal also
helps with this by lowering some stacks as needed.  However, their best
power lies in destroying the two hats coming into play, thus removing an
  unwanted pairing.

A fun little diversion, it does not live up to the namesake it is
leeching off (that namesake being Tetris).  Still, it is worth a few
plays for a somewhat unique gaming experience that can be very enjoyable
once the game has added in all the possible factors.
