1. Introduction
---------------
Much like the Ghostbusters 2 movie, this game was underrated. Which is kind of
sad, because this is a really fun game. Don't be fooled by the Nintendo's
Ghostbusters II, that one is nothing like this game. Also, if you are lucky
enough to find it, there is the New Ghostbusters II that was never released
here, but it plays just like this game.
--------
2. Story
--------
An evil tyrant, known as Vigo, is trying to resurrect himself, but he needs a
human child to do so. He sends out his possessed servant, Janosz Poha, to
kidnapped a child. He ends up kidnapping Oscar, son of Dana Berret, during a
walk with Peter Vackmen, a Ghosbuster. Peter, and the rest of the Ghostbusters,
suit up and try to find Oscar.
----------------
3. Controls/Tips
----------------
D-Pad - Move Ghostbusters
Start - Pause
Select - /
A Button - Proton Beam
B Button - Ghost Trap
- When you hit a ghost with your Proton Beam and then let go, they will shake
and still be able to be captured by the Ghost Trap
- Also, when you capture a ghost with your Proton Beam, you have to get out
of the way for the Trapper.
- All the Ghostbusters have the same ability, so it doesn't really matter who
you choose.
- Unlike Nintendo's New Ghostbusters II, both the Capturer and Trapper have hit
points.
- The Ghostbuster emblem on the bottom right screen of the status bar shows how
many ghosts are left.
- When you get an item from a Ghostbuster, you switch to that Ghostbuster. If
you want your original Ghostbuster back, just keep switching. You won't loose
the item.
- Always watch out for the trapper, because he can get stuck very easily.
- During boss fights, the Trapper is protected and the Beamer fires a Proton
Cannon.
- The Proton Cannon fires energy spheres that are sole used to stop bosses.
- During the boss fights, use the Trapper as a human shield.
--------
4. Items
--------
Most of the time, you get the items from the remaining Ghostbusters or from
civilians.
Slime Blower - This weapon allows you to disintegrate ghosts, with out the
need for the Ghost Trap. It fires a cone of slime that lasts
about 25 seconds.
Heart - A heart in a sphere. Gives you an extra life point in the
status bar.
Super Ghost Trap - Allows the Beamer to use a Ghost Trap, with out the need of
the Proton Beam. It also paralyzes the ghosts for easy
catching. Lasts about 15 seconds.
W Beam - A sphere with a W in it. Allows the Trapper to fire a Proton
Cannon during boss fights. I think it lasts about 10
seconds.
Anti-Ghost Suit - Looks like a shirt. Gives the Beamer and Trapper 30 seconds
of invulnerability.
Ghost - This looks like stickman. Turns yourself into a ghost,
{well, not really}, allowing you to walk through anything.
Lasts about 35 seconds
B Shield - Gives the Beamer a shield in boss battles. Lasts until you
get hit.
Pickaxe - Looks like a pickaxe, {duh!}. Allows you to break down
walls.
----------
5. Enemies
----------
Some of the enemies are straight from the movie, others are new.
Jogger - This ghost seems to have died during a exercise run. It does not
really have a specific pattern, but often runs in rectangles and
squares. It can also disappear and reappear. Not a real threat,
but make sure when it disappears that your not in it's path.
Blob - These are little piles of ectoplasm, and have two eyes. They can
move slide on the floor slowly or hop about. You cannot get a lock
on while it's hopping.
Fur Coat - At first you may not recognize it, but it's the fur coat the woman
was wearing that sprouted animals. At first, it will move slowly
about, but when it spots you, it charges and chases you. Its best
to take it by surprise.
Slimer - The mascot of the franchise. These ghosts can surprise you by
popping out of the floor. They move slowly, but they do chase you.
Screamer - I think this one was from the first movie. This ghost looks like a
flatten out reptile. They move about with no specific pattern. When
you get to close, it runs away, but you can out run it. Also, try to
corner it into a wall.
Eddy - These one-eyed ghost pops out of the ground very suddenly. Try to
capture him just as it pops out, if you don't, it will start
spinning and moving through walls. You can't capture it while it's
spinning.
Joker - A clown walking on a ball. Can disappear and reappear. This one very
quick, when it reappears, it quickly charges you. The place it
disappears at, is the most likely place it reappears, so wait there
until it does.
Doll - This ballerina is like the Eddy. she spins about ricocheting off
walls and cannot be capture while she is spinning. You also can't
capture her while she is not spinning, you have to capture her just
as she is about to spin.
Phantom - A humanoid head on a snake like body. They fly from either side of
the screen and fly through the walls. They move in a wave motion. Be
careful of these ghosts and try to watch its movements.
---------
6. Bosses
---------
Here is the list of bosses from game. This is taken straight from the
walkthrough.
The Scoleri Brothers
The two brothers continually circling themselves. They move slowly. and move in
your direction at times. They can fire electric shocks. During the boss fight,
try to grab the Twin Cannon item, so you can double-team them. Don't limit
yourself to just one brother, you have to hit both a certain amount of time.
You can also destroy the electric shocks with your Proton Cannon. The best way
to attack is to get on either side and use the Trapper as a human shield. Then
whenever one of them gets in range, you fire your Proton Cannon. Watch the
Trapper, because the ghosts may not be able to hurt him, but he can be pushed
away and leave you open. Try to stay on the side the brothers are not on.
Continually fire on both of them and they will fall.
Ghost Train
Get off the middle track right away and onto the small paths with out tracks.
This boss is the train from the second move. It can fire ectoplasm at you and
also unleash Decapitated Heads at you. The Decapitated heads can be destroyed.
When you hit it enough times, it will split into many Decapitated Heads, which
cannot be destroyed. After about 6 seconds, it will reform back into a train.
As soon it is completely reformed, it fires a ring of ectoplasm outwards, then
moves quickly off screen and back into screen through one of three arcs. The
train will the repeat it actions. After it repeats itself about 2x, it becomes
a runaway train, which means it will quickly go off and on screen, so stay off
the tracks. Basically use the Trapper as a human shield again, hit it as many
times before it transforms. Then dodge the heads until it reforms and stay off
the tracks. Continue this strategy until it is destroyed.
Janosz
Janosz will start moving from the right to left, in a wave movement. Then, he
flies up to the painting and start flying in circles, while shooting ectoplasm.
After a while, he flies back down and repeats to the other side. Like all the
other bosses, use your Trapper as a human shield and fire from behind. He wont
take very long to defeat.
Vigo
A W Beam item should fall before Vigo steps out of the painting. This guy can
be a pain. First, he summons balls of ectoplasmic energy from the top of the
screen that home in on you. Then, he flies up and moves back and forth in a
wave movement, while shooting ectoplasmic energy. Try to grab all the B Shields
and W Beam items as you can. Once again, use your Trapper as a human shield and
fire from behind. He should fall in less then 30 seconds if you're persistent.

You follow Janosz to the Courthouse.
Level 1 - Courthouse

Blob
Fur Coat
Slimer
Floor 1
Time - 1:30

First go down, left then up, the hall way will be a dead end, but you will get
rid of the Blobs as you go. Go back and continue right. Go up and you will see
a new ghost. Capture the Fur Coat, the Blobs, and go through the door. Watch
out for the Fur Coat and continue clock-wise. When you reach the left side of
the screen, a Slimer will pop out of the ground. Continue up, and you will
meet Egon, who will give you a Slime Blower. Use the Slime Blower to get rid
of the rest of the ghosts in the middle room.
Floor 3
Time - 3:30
Ghosts - 25
Move left and pick up a 1Up for the Trapper from the civilian. Continue left,
through the door and right. Capture the Jogger and go back to the beginning
area. Go through the right door and watch out for the Fur Coat. Continue
through the left door and right. Get the Super Ghost Trap from the civilian and
take out as many ghosts as you can. You should be able to get 3 in the lower
room and another one outside the room afterwards. Return once again to the
beginning area and go back to the left area. Go through the two doors and go to
Egon. He will give you a Pickaxe, the get rid of the ghosts in this room. Use
the Pickaxe on the right wall to get the Fur Coats, then return again to the
beginning area to get three Slimers. It might be easier if you get the Pickaxe
from Egon from the beginning of the floor.

First go in the large middle room and take out all the ghosts. Egon and a

room. Finish the newly spawned ghosts then again go around the outer wall to
finish the rest off.

Suit from Egon and continue left. Watch out for the Eddy at the end, it pops
out of the ground. Continue up and into the small room. There is a Eddy in the
entrance and one in the middle, so watch out. When you're done, continue back
to where Egon is. Continue right and once again, watch out for the Eddy at the
end. This small room is the same as the last, except it has only the Eddy at
the entrance and a Joker in the middle. Continue back to where Egon is and
watch out for the Eddy. Go up into the room and get the two Jokers. One is near
the lower right wall, the other is near upper left wall. Go right and into the
small room. There are a Screamer and three Jokers. Continue back to the

entrance to the small room. Capture the Screamer and two Jokers, then go to the
outer wall for the last ghost.
Floor 3
Time - 4:00
Ghosts - 26
Watch out for the Slimers coming out from the right in the beginning, because
you have to wait until they are in the hallway. Continue down until you are in
a small room, but watch out for the three Eddys. After capturing the Eddys,
continue up. Once again, Slimers will pop out off the slime and you need to
lead them into the small hall. At the end, get the Anti-Ghost Suit from Egon
and continue down. Take care of the ghosts and go up into the room of slime.
Two Slimers should pop up. Capture them and continue to the three Eddy room. Go
down and right to the slime pool area. Capture the two Slimers that pop out and
continue right. In the big room, there is a small puddle of slime in the lower
right, where a Eddy will pop out. Capture it and the rest and continue up to
the small room. Capture the last two Slimers that pop out of the river of
slime.
Floor 4
Time - 4:00
Ghosts - 34
Watch out for the two Eddys from just a few steps from either side of you and
the Slimers popping out from the rivers of slime. Egon has a Heart for the
Trapper, grab it and continue right. Capture the Fur Coats and continue down.
An Eddy will pop out near the bottom, so watch you. Capture the Fur Coats on
the right and continue all the way up. Grab the Ghost item from the civilian
and quickly move all the way down. Then move left, capture as many ghosts as
you can. Make sure that you not to close to the slime though, because ghost
can pop out at any moment. Continue left until you see Winston. Grab the Super
Ghost Trap and quickly go up, before your ghost form runs out. By now you
should be around two or three ghosts left. Look around pools of slime to get
the few you mist.
Boss
Ghost Train
Get off the middle track right away and onto the small paths with out tracks.
This boss is the train from the second move. It can fire ectoplasm at you and
also unleash Decapitated Heads at you. The Decapitated heads can be destroyed.

the tracks. Basically use the Trapper as a human shield again, hit it as many

The room you begin in has 3 Slimers and a Joker. Continue down and into the
next room. This room has three Screamers and a Joker. Watch out though, Slimers
from the below room will likely come after you. Continue down and capture the
Joker in the lower right corner. Continue left to Egon and get the Super Ghost
Trap. Clear out this room completely and go back to the room, which had
Screamers. Run up into the left door and go left. You will need to go around
the tables flushing out Jokers. Before you get the last one, the civilian at
upper right wall will give the Trapper a Heart.
Floor 2
Time - 4:15
Ghosts - 37
Watch out for the Joker on the left. Take care of the Blob first, seeing is
that you can capture the Doll while it's spinning. Clear the rest and continue

down. At the end is a Joker and Doll. Go to the right room and clear out the
two Dolls and one Blob. Grab the Slimer Blower from Egon and continue right. Go
up and clear out the ghosts. Continue back to the middle area and go into the
left room. Clear out the room, but for some reason the civilian didn't give me
an item. I'm assuming it's because I had the maximum amount of Hearts. Continue
to the left hall. Clear the ghosts out and return to the middle room from the
start. Capture the two Jokers from both sides and continue up. The right room
has two Jokers and a civilian, who gives me nothing again. The left room has
two Dolls and a Blob. By now you should have two ghosts remaining. Go back all
the way down and go all the way to the ends of both halls. The end of each hall
has a Joker.
Floor 3

clear out all the Blobs. The civilian will give the Beamer a Heart, then
continue down the right hallway. Watch out for the Joker in the middle and go
into the left room. Clear out the three Blobs and the Joker in the lower left
corner. Before you continue down the hall, there is a Joker on the very left
side of the entrance. Continue down and into the next left hall. Capture the
Blob and Joker and enter the room. This room has three Jokers and two Blobs.
Continue down the main hall and go right. Capture the Joker at the right end,
then enter the room. Capture the first two Blobs, then get the Slime Blower
from Egon. Then quickly clear out the rest of the room. Watch the left side,
Phantoms will be coming as your clearing the room.
Floor 4
Time - 3:40
Ghosts - 20
Watch out for the two Eddys on both sides of the entrance. Go left and get a
Heart for the Trapper. There is a lot of Eddys on this floor, so watch your
step. Continue down the left hall, and watch out for Slimers. Get the Pickaxe
from Egon and continue right. Winston has a Heart for the Beamer, get it and
continue up the right hall. After clearing out the outer wall area, use the
Pickaxe to get entry to the middle room. Watch out for the Fur Coats in this
room. Then go down the left hall and get the two Slimers at the end. Then
return to the middle room for the last ghosts.

Go around the entrance a capture the two Joggers. Continue down and the left.
Egon has a Heart for the Trapper, get it and go into the room. Watch out for
the Phantoms, they will be coming from the top of the screen. Capture any
Phantoms and the Dolls in the room. Continue back to the beginning area. Now go
the right room. There's Dolls and Phantoms in this room, so watch you. Once
cleared, continue back to the beginning area. Now go to left room. More Dolls
and Phantoms in this room. Clear it and continue once again to the beginning
area. Now go up to the final room. Get the Slimer Blower from Winston, then
finish off the rest of the Dolls and Phantoms.
Floor 6
Time - 5:00
Ghosts - 34
First move right and watch out for the two Slimers that pop out. Then go down
into the next room and beware of the Phantom from the left. Continue down,
clearing out all room until you reach the end. Watch out for the Phantom that
comes from up top. Grab the Slimer Blower from Winston, then go between the
tables and clear out the Jokers. Once cleared, go back to the lower left corner
and take out the lone Joker. Go all the way to the right end and take out the
Joker in the lower right corner, and the one near the entrance. Continue all
the way up, clearing out Jokers, Slimers, and Phantoms. When you reach the end,
continue left and watch out for Phantoms. Go into the next room and clear out
the rest of the Jokers. Egon didn't give me anything. Also, if you are missing
a ghost, it probably a Phantom from the second or third last room. Now you face
the Janosz, before the final boss.
Boss
Janosz
Janosz will start moving from the right to left, in a wave movement. Then, he
flies up to the painting and start flying in circles, while shooting ectoplasm.
After a while, he flies back down and repeats to the other side. Like all the
other bosses, use your Trapper as a human shield and fire from behind.
Ending
The crowd cheers the Ghostbusters, while Peter and Dana kiss. Stay awhile and
the main characters take a roll call.

8.Review

Graphics = 3
Sound/Music = 4
Gameplay = 4
Overall = 4
I like this game just a bit more then "The New Ghostbusters II" game, but only
because it has items and power ups. The graphics are descent, nothing special.
The only thing I can really complain about is that some of the bosses could
have looked better, like the Scoleri Brothers. Sound/Music are good, it's
pretty much from the movie. Gameplay is simple, yet fun. It's nothing
spectacular, but it's just fun. Like I said before, overall I like this one
just a bit more then it's Nintendo counter-part, but both games are really fun
to play. My only complaint really is that it's short, you can beat it in less
then 3 hours.
