|===================== 1.0) Game Review  =========================|
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+

Dennis the Menace is an action game pumped full of enemies and
puzzles in more than 10 different levels. Although it lacs a save
feature, the game is still outstandingly fun yet frustrating at the
same time.
In Dennis the Menace, you take on the lead of Dennis, armed
first with a water gun. As you progress though the game, you gain
more weapons and enter deadly levels.
You follow the same path as the movie does, going from
Mr. Wilsons house to forests and such. Now, to get into the more
detailed areas of the game:

 Graphics: 4.5 out of 5

The graphics of this game are great, yet not outstanding. The
2D characters look as if they are really 3D, yet they are not. A
bit more time could have been taken into sprite detail, but the
game is still great without it. I give the graphics a 4.5 out of 5.

 Sound: 5 out of 5

The sound, as well as the music go with the game greatly. These
too parts of the game set the mood to the level, wether it be in
a forest or at Mr.Wilsons house. I give the sound a great 5 out of
5!

 Control: 5 out of 5

The control is great as well in this game. It is fluent and
smooth through gameplay. This really sets a great impression apon
first play of the game. I give the control 5 out of 5!

 Gameplay: 4.5 out of 5

All together, including control, sound and graphics, the game
is amost perfect. The only downside of this game is how hard it
is. This game is extremely hard when set to hard mode, which is
at default let me tell you.

Overall, I give this game a great 4.5 out of 5. It is one of
greatest games I have played, but it is also one of the hardest
ones too! I would not, though, call this game Outstanding, like
Final Fantasy III.

|==================== 1.2) Game Objective ========================|
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+

You take on the lead of Dennis, a young troubled boy who travels
from level to level collection gold coins, new weapons, items, and
avoiding enemies.
Your objective is to collect all five (5) LARGE golden coins
in each level, as well as collecting as many small golden coins as
you possibly can. At the end of each level, you will find the last
golden coin, as well as four (4) golden coins circling the large
one.
After completing a level, you gain points depending on how fast
you cleared the level, how many coins you recieved, and how many \
enemies you killed.

TIP: Don't rely on time bonuses too much. Take your time
going through each level, and make sure to get as many coins as
possible.

+-----------------------------------------------------------------+
|======================= 2.0) Controls  ==========================|
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+

The following are the default controls for Dennis the Menace
These controls can be altered through the 'options' menue
at the introductory screen of the game

Jump - Button 'B'

The B button allows you to jump in the air. This is useful to
get from platform to platform, or jumping over enemies you are too
lazy to fight.

Fire - Button 'A'

The A button allows you to fire your weapon you currently have
selected. Most weapons can be fired while in the combination of a
jump.

Run - Button 'Y'

While holding the Y button and moving around, you are able to
increase your speed from a walk to a run. You will need to run
lots in this game to gain enough speed for a large jump

Change - 'X'

Change allows you to change the current weapon you have selected
to fire. You can only use change if you have more than one weapon
in your inventory.

Walk - 'D-Pad'

The D-Pad allows you to walk around the screen. You can only go
Left or Right since this is a layered 2-D game.

+-----------------------------------------------------------------+
|======================== 3.0) Enemies ===========================|
+-----------------------------------------------------------------+

The following is an alphabetical list of all the enemies in the
game. I do not know their actual names, so I go by what they look
like.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Airplane
Location           : The Park
Description        :

Small plane flying through the air in circles. Drops bombs
from time to time. Acts like bat in Mr.Wilsons house.

Strategy           :

You can't really do much to these unless they come down close
to you. Other than that, just avoid their bombs. They are very
annoying, but they don't follow you, so you don't have to worry
too much

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Bat
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

Brown bat that flies in circles around platforms you need to
jump to and from.

Strategy           :

The bat flies around in circles near platforms you will have
to jump to. If hit in mid air, you will be injured and fall to
the ground. Before jumping from platform to platform, make sure
to kill all bats in sight.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Bowling Ball
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

Black bowling ball that rolls around the ground and same
speed as Dennis. They also roll down stairs

Strategy           :

As far as I know, you cannot kill this enemy, since it is
just a ball. Make sure to jump over all balls you see comming
toward you. Don't bother trying to attack it. It is very easy
to jump.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Chipmunk
Location           : The Park
Description        :

Little chipmunk that throws nuts at you. They physically do
not hurt you but their nuts do

Strategy           :

These guys are easy. Since their body's don't hurt you, and
only the nuts they throw hurt, you can either dodge the nuts
or blow them up with your blow gun or sling shot.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Fish
Location           : The Park
Description        :

Small fish that jumps up and down out of water in the park.
These fish are rarely seen since you do not even need to go
by the water in the level.

Strategy           :

You can either kill them or just avoid them. Both are easy.
This fish is nothing to worry about.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Football
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

Brown football that jumps up and down in verticle position.
It may jump from one place to another, or in one place only

Strategy           :

DONT RUN UNDER THEM. Believe me, It is much harder to run
under these enemies than is jumping over them. Since they move
at a fast pace, there is no point in trying to get under it.
Attacks are uneffective to this enemy, so don't try and kill
it.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Forest Bird
Location           : The Park
Description        :

Annoying Red bird that flies all around the park levels. They
act similar to the bat in Mr.Wilsons House, for they fly around
platforms, and screw your jumps up.

Strategy           :

Make sure to kill them before even attempting to make a jump.
By killing these enemies, the game will seem alot easier. It
only takes one shot with any weapon except your water gun.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Frog
Location           : The Park
Description        :

Green frog that jumps around. Similar to the Purple Cat found
in Mr.Wilsons house.

Strategy           :
Make sure to kill them. Don't try to run under or over them
or you will be killed.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Jumping Yellow Thing
Location           : The Park
Description        :

A jumping yellow thing. Thats all I can say. It looks similar
to a screwed up duck

Strategy           :

This is another one of those wimpy annoying little enemies.
Just make sure to kill them before advancing further in a level.
It will save you the time and courage.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Hare
Location           : Park
Description        :

Brown hare (rabbit like) that jumps around all areas of the
park stages. THEY ARE VERY ANNOYING.

Strategy           :

Do not try to avoid them, KILL THEM. About 4 shots with your
blow gun will kill them. They are easy as pie!

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Kitchen Cup
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

White kitchen cup that jumps violently around in Mr.Wilsons
Kitchen. There are usually 1 or 2 of them together.

Strategy           :

Watch them for a bit when you incounter them. They have a
pattern in which they follow. After figuring the pattern out,
try and get your way past them. It is not too difficult

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Mouse
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

Brown small mouse that runs around the floor and beds. It is
usually located in areas of small visibility, such as on beds
with behind bedposts.

Strategy           :

These are really easy enemies to kill. The only problem they
pose is that they usually run around in low visibility areas.
They are killed with one shot of a sling shot.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Mr.Wilson
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

Big old man that runs around with a funny looking smile on
his face. Located on upper floor of Mr.Wilsons house. You will
know when you see him!

Strategy           :

STAY AWAY. You can't run under him, or jump over him without
the help of a jack in a box. You can't hurt him either. Avoid
him if you can, and if he sees you, run away.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Owl
Location           : The Park
Description        :

A large owl that floats up and down in the park levels. Do
not attempt to jump over them.

Strategy           :

As said before, do not attempt to jump over them. Make sure to
kill them before pressing on. It takes about 4 shots with any
gun except the water gun

----------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Purple Cat
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

A Purple Cat that jumps or runs around Mr.Wilsons house. They
are found on the middle floor and in the basement.

Strategy           :

They are quite easy to kill, with about 4 shots of a slingshot,
but watch out, because they will run into you. They can also be
passed by by running under them, or jumping over them. The best
overall way though is to kill them.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Record Player/Records
Location           : Mr.Wilsons House
Description        :

A record player, usually located on a desk or drawer, that
throws records out at you (3 at a time).

Strategy           :

You cannot kill the record player, or records. Just watch the
pattern and try and run (RUN) by it. It is not too hard. The
record player itself does not hurt you

---------------------------------------------------------------
Name               : Red Ball
Location           : The Park
Description        :

A Red Ball that jumps up and down. May jump vertically or
back and forth

Strategy           :

This enemy is attack innaffective. Don't try and kill it.
They jump pretty high each time they jump, so it is ok to go
under them, but it is easier to jump over them.

------------------------- 5.x - Options ---------------------------

Before beginning a new game at the introductory screen, you have
the ability to chose the options menu to customize your game to
your needs. The following will explain what each function in the
options menu does:

Level:

Allows you to chose the level of difficulty for your game. You
can chose between easy and hard. I suggest you chose easy!

Rest:

Rest is really the amount of lives you have. It's default is 5
but you can change it up to 9. I suggest you do this. This is not
an easy game

Key Option:

Allows you to change the default controls of the game. The
defaults are:

 Jump   - B
 Fire   - A
 Run    - Y
 Change - X

For more information on controls, go to the controls section of
this document (PART 2).

Auto Run:

If auto run is on, when you are controlling Dennis, he runs auto-
matically without you having to hold the Y button. I suggest you
keep this off. You may not always want to run in this game.

Sound:

Allows you to change between Mono and Sterio sound. For me, it
doesn't make a difference

BGM:

Stands for Background Music. Allows you to listen to the 10
different music tracks of the game.

Exit:

  Exits the Options menu.

-------------------- 5.0 - Mr.Wilsons House ------------------------

Enemies : Purple Cat, Football, Bowling Ball, Bat, Mr.Wilson,
Jumping Shoes, Mouse, Record Player, Record, Kitchen Cups

Items : Sling Shot, Blow Gun,

When you begin this stage, you will immediatly notice that you
have begun in the middle of the house. Above you, a purple cat jumps
madly on a ledge. Jump on the table to the right, and then jump up
and grab the slingshot. Next, equip it.

Now, return to the ground, and run to the left up the stairs,
avoiding the falling bowling balls. Once up the stairs, take the
right path and kill the cat running back and forth with the sling
shot. Continue running to the right until you reach an area where
a cat is jumping from ledge to ledge, back and forth over a chair.
Remember this area, for you will be returning here later.

Continue to the right until you see a red box. Jump onto the box
and wit of the jack to pop out. It will send you into the air. Float
onto the ledge where the cat is jumping. Make sure to do this fast
or Mr.Wilson will catch you. Jump onto the drawer, then onto the
suitcase to the left. Shoot the switch with the slingshot and return
to the area where the cat is jumping from ledge to ledge.

Since the ledge is too high to jump onto, you will have to get hit
by the cat jumping back and forth. Once you do this, you will fly
upward onto the ledge. Next, kill the cat jumping back and forth.
Jump onto the ledge to the left, and in sight you will see a latter
hanging down, since you hit the button. RUN on the platform and jump
for the latter. Once you are over it, hold up and pull yourself up.

Walk to the right and jump on the suitcase with the football on it.
Next, jump on the wooden ledge to the right. Kill the mouse on the
ledge, and continue on to the right until you reach the far right
end of the attic. Jump up the 3 ledges to the golden coin. Alright,
1 down and 4 more to go. Next, you will have to continue running to
the left, staying as high as possible, to the other end of the attic.
Jump up the jack in the box and recieve coin 2 of five.

Exit the attic and return to the befinning of the level. Continue
to the right until you reach the purple furniture. Jump up the
ledges near the furniture and recieve the 3rd coin near the fish
bowl. Continue to the right to where there are 2 shelves. 1 with 2
pots and one with a cactus moving around happily. Get on top of the
shelf and jump from shelf to fridge to the end of the level where
you will recieve the 4rth coin on the last fridge.

Lastly, go into the basement. Go to the left and jump on the shelf
with the mouse on it. Kill the mouse and continue going to the left
by jumping from platform to platform. Make sure to kill all the bats
that you come by. Get the blow gun, and return upstairs, either by
jumping from platform to platform, or by dropping to the floor and
running (it is easier to jump the platforms). Once out of the
basement, continue to the right until you reach the big coin with 4
smaller coins around it. Jump up and get the big coin to complete
Mr.Wilsons house - The introductory level

---------------------- 5.1 - The Park 1 ----------------------------

Enemies (for the whole park series) - Airplane, Bunny Rabit,
Forest Bird, Frog, Fish, Red Ball, Owl, Chipmunk,
       Jumping Yellow Thing

Items - None

Alright. Welcome to The Park series. This series is pretty easy
if you take your time through the levels. There are lots of enemies
but they don't do much unless you get close to them.

When you start off, look over to your right, and you will notice
two Red Birds. Kill them. Next, climb the ledges on the tree to the
upper level. Continue to the right, killing the frog and hare that
roam the area. Enter the first tree to the right by pressing the 'UP'
button on the d-pad infront of the tree door. You should now appear
at a lower level. Drop to the ground and get the first gold coin.
Return to the upper level, and run to the right as far as you can
go. Enter the tree, and you will end up at an even higher level with
a plane throwing bombs down at you. Kill the 2 hares and enter the
tree to the right. To get across the ledge on the right, you are
going to have to RUN, or you will fall through the old wood. Run
across the ledge and enter the tree to get to a lower leve. Kill
the two frogs, then the 2 red birds flying over the hole to the
right. Enter the tree to get to a higher level. Jump up the ledgest
to get even higher. Move to the far left past the red bird and 2
hares to get coin number 2.
Walk back to the right and enter the tree. Notice the blue button
to the right. You will be using this button in a second. Climb even
higher up the ledges and get coin number 3.
Return to the area with the blue button. Jump on the button, and
to your left, a road will magically appear. RUN across this road, or
you will fall through to below, where you will have to find your way
up. Enter the tree on the left. Continue to the left and kill both
hares and enter the leftmost tree entrance. Continue left through
the next tree entrance to a higher level. Kill the two birds and
frog that linger up there, and then enter the leftmost tree.
Continue left past the 3 birds and 2 frogs, and climb the leftmost
tree ledges to get coin number 4.
Now, just below you, is coin number 5. You can either fall through
the bad wood or take the tree entrance down to it.

----------------------- 5.2 - The Park 2 ---------------------------

Enemies - Same as Park 1

Items - None

This may just be the hardest level of them all (so far). In this
level, you are pulled on a red wagon by your dog through a huge
level. The problem is is that there are tons of enemies that you
have to shoot or dodge while the dog pulls you. What makes this
worse is that if you fall behind, you may get caught behind an
object and then killed.

I can't really walk you through this level. It is one of those
levels you have to learn how to beat yourself.

[TIPS]

* Stay on the wagon as much as you can
* Don't try and kill enemies, dodge them
* The small coins arn't worth your time
* Don't fall behind. Stay just a bit ahead of the wagon

Thats all I can really say. Good Luck - If you can do it, I can

----------------------- 5.3 - The Park 3 ---------------------------

Enemies - Same as Park 1

Items - 1up (included in walkthrough)

When you start the level, go to the right. Jump on the swinging
bag and get over the hole. Continue to the right past all the red
balls. Reach the swinging bag and shoot the two bats. Next, jump on
the bag to get to the other side of the hole. Continue to the right
and get the one up.
Next, return to the left and jump up the first tree with ledges.
Kill the two red birds flying by the swinging bag, then jump on it
to get to the other side. Kill the chipmunk and bat and jump to a
higher level. Kill the plane and chipmunk and recieve coin #1 to
the right.
Go to the left and climb up the first tree. Jump across the
swinging bag and kill the chipmunk. Then recieve coin #2 witch is
directly behind the chipmunk.
Go to the left, staying on the higher level. Jump on the bag to
get to the other side and continue moving to the left. After you
reach the 2 duck things, kill them and reach the swinging bag. Note
note that there is another swinging bag directly after it. Jump on
the first bag, and while you are swinging, jump to the other bag.
This is really hard. Continue left past the red balls. Drop down 2
levels and continue to the left. Jump on the swinging bag and
recieve coin #3.
Jump down another level and to the left you will recieve coin #4.
Now follow the walkthrough back to where you get coin #2. Continue
to the left past the 2 swinging bags and the red balls. Keep up high
and moving leftward. At the far left end of the level, you will find
coin number 5.

----------------------- Part 6 - Rom Hacking -----------------------

 RH - Pretty lame ...
Rom hacking is the art of breaking into game code and changing
values of certain addresses to make a game outstandingly easy. I am
not covering game genie, which is a tool used to hack snes roms, but
rather I will explain how to hack only game roms downloaded off the
internet that are run in emulators.
I will only explain how to hack in ZSNES, the greatest snes emul
I have ever used (I have used alot).
So sit back, grab a drink, and read all of the following - it is
needed knowledge:

----------------------- 6.x - Hexadecimal --------------------------

Hexadecimal is the number language used in Zsnes for game roms.
For this reason, it would be good to understand Hex (hexadecimal for
short). The following is a chart for hex you can study:

Decimal  | Hexadecimal
----------------------
1        | 1
2        | 2
3        | 3

By studying this, you will notice that hex introduces 5 new digits,
and since there are only 10 number digits, hex brings in the letters
A-F. It works the same way as decimal, except with 5 extra digits.

STUDY THE CHART

Knowing hex will help you when you wish to change a value to
a specific need.

------------------- 6.xx - The Problem with roms -------------------

Ok. You got hex down, but there is only one problem with game
roms. This is pretty much why i am not just putting all my codes
down here. The problem is is that not all roms are the same. This
means that unless you have the exact same rom as me, my codes wont
work on yours.

So don't go writing game rom faqs for this game - You will have
alot of hate mail. I am willing to teach you how to make codes
though, and you could write a guide about that!!

-------------------- 6.0 - Hacking Courage -------------------------

As you should know by now, health is measured as hearts, also
known as courage. As your courage goes down, you are losing health,
thus making it easier for an enemy to kill you. What we want to do
is make it so our health does not decrease so we won't die. To do
this we will need to use the following steps:

1.) Load Dennis the Menace
2.) Begin Gameplay
3.) Press esc to get to ZSNES menu
4.) Select Cheat Menu
5.) Select 1 byte comparative search

Ok. It is set up. Return to gameplay and get hit. Go back into
the cheat menu and select 'less than equal' which is equal to
'> than last'. Return to game and get hit again. Repeat the process
until you have one result left. Double click 'view results' and
select the result.
Now is where the hex comes in. Change the value of how many lives
you want in hex - ONE BYTE ONLY = 99. If you set the default to
hex than the highest will be FF which equals 255.

<NOTE - Health Algoratham>
Here is a mathematical equasion for the health Algoratham:

 Courage = Heart * 3               so if i wanted 2 health...

 courage = heart * 3
 courage = 2 * 3
 courage = 6

you see, each heart is stored as 3hex in game memory. For this
reason, if you wanted 6 hearts, by simply changing the value of
courage to 6 would not give you 6 hearts, but rather 2.
