INTRODUCTION

Captain Tsubasa Vs. is, as its name implies, a game based off the wacky
manga, which was created by Yoichi Takahashi in 1983. For those who have
been living under a rock all these years, the premise is as follows.

Ohzora Tsubasa is considered as the most skilled football (soccer) player
in Japan and plays for Nankatsu, along with Ishisaki and Misaki, who are
renowned for their sheer brilliance (well, maybe not Ishizaki =D). Their
first tournament is the National Tournament, which regroups various schools
across the country. Nankatsu is one of the participants and assuredly
the more liable team to claim the trophy...

..Had it not been for a certain Kojro Hyuga leading the boisterous
Wakashimazu and young Sawada to make Meiwa another contender for the
title. Captain Tsubasa Vs. thus lets you control Nankatsu until the
final match against Meiwa. Once you win the national title, you then
control the Japanese squad and go on to challenge the world.

There are 2 modes in Captain Tsubasa Vs.: - Kick Off
                                         - Vs. Mode

- KICK OFF -
------------

Kick Off can be considered as the Story Mode. Here, you'll be controlling
Tsubasa and his mates, and your objective is to win all the matches until
you beat the game.

To continue from a saved game, just choose the top option (the one in
Japanese) and input your password. Passwords are obtained throughout the
game after each match. Since the whole game is in Japanese, you'll
probably have a lot of difficulty making efficient use of these passwords.
Of course, it is quite possible to jot them down and try to input them
later, but it can be quite time-consuming. The low resolution of the
GameBoy doesn't help either.

Starting a new game is very easy. Just choose the second option and a
brief cut-scene will flow in.

- VS. MODE -
------------

Vs. Mode consists essential of exhibition matches. You can either play
against the CPU (Vs. CPU) or against another human player (Vs. 2P).
Certain conditions are required to be able to play both modes.

Vs. CPU:
- You must have the passwords that you obtain after each tournament
 in Kick-Off mode.

Vs. 2P:
- 2 GameBoys and a link cable, along the same passwords.

Basically, Vs. Mode allows you to choose which team you want to play as
and whom you want to face. There are 2 passwords which you can use
and their difference concerns the teams that will be unlocked. These
passwords can be found in the Password Menu section.

[2] CONTROL
===========================================================================

Captain Tsubasa Vs. is no different from its console counterparts. If you
played any CT title before, you shouldn't have any problems understanding
how the game functions.

Basically, you'll be controlling your players in a RPG-ish kind of way
while still running around on the pitch.


Actions are performed through menus:

- To bring up the menu when you have possession, press the B button.

- The menu is automatically brought up whenever you have possession and
 an opponent gets close to you. Same thing applies whenever you're
 chasing the ball around.

- A button to confirm choices; B to cancel (where possible).


Firstly, you should know how to access each command. Once the menu is
shown, just press a given direction and an action will be listed. If
you want to use it, press the A button to use it. If you wish to do
something else, just press the other directional buttons until you
see the one you want to use.

As this is football and there are quite a few actions, you will notice
that the options change depending on the situation. Thus, you will have
different options when you have the ball as you are in an attacking
position than from in a defensive position.

I will list each command situation-wise for the purpose of this guide.

Things to know:

- A single option will obviously have various outcomes depending on where
 you are and the ball height. The best example in this case is 'Shoot'
 which can also result in a 'Volley'. This is even more crucial when
 you want to use certain special techniques.

- Special techniques open in new windows. Scroll down the lists and make
 your selection using the A button. In all cases, the first option in
 the second menu is actually the simple one.

- When the special techniques occupy more than one menu, these may span
 over several ones. Press left or right to toggle between the submenus.

- While running after the ball in a defending position, press the A or B
 buttons to change players. A will increment the player number by 1; B
 will decrease it.

The positions are mainly where they are better (this applies only for
teams you actually get to control of course -- for the other teams, it's
just a list of the players' real positions so you know where you'll be
seeing an awful lot of them) or, to put it simply, how they should fit in
the line-up. In the game itself, Tsubasa starts as a  centre-forward,
which is dumb.

The numbers are the default ones; if you change them at one point or
another, use the original names to know who's who.

One of the main interests of this game is how, as you win matches,
players from the team you just beat just join yours to give you a
better squad. This occurs during the first matches and is actually
an idea directly lifted from the anime.

[6] STRATEGY GUIDE
===========================================================================

Captain Tsubasa Vs. is a game which relies a lot on strategy and luck. You
need to be good at choosing your options all the time and you need to know
how to set up your team to make the most of all your players.

A walkthrough for such a game would be inappropriate as it is impossible
to really "walk you through the game" as in an RPG. Besides, I would just
keep saying "Have Hyuga shoot!" over and over again even if I tried to
think of a decent walkthrough.

So, I'll instead be giving quick pointers that should help prepare you for
the match. The opposing team's star players have also been marked as
"Threats"; be sure to keep an eye on them. I have included translations
of their names and their respective numbers for those who are ignoring
the Shift-JIS encoding.

Finally, in addition to these, you need 2 more things: high levels and
luck. In many cases, it is almost impossible to win the matches on the
first try. However, levelling up will makes the matches easier, so don't
worry if you have to play a match again.


The 'New Players' list show who will join your team once you beat the
opponent.

- MATCH #1: なんか vs. にしが  -
-         Nankatsu vs. Nishiga -
--------------------------------

Threats: -

You truthfully cannot lose this first match, as in any other Captain
Tsubasa title. The opposing team is pathetically weak and has no star
players although they can (and will) rely on team play. Just keep
attacking and you will do fine. Have Tsubasa shoot when you can; you
may score even from the half-way line. I recommend switching Tsubasa
to a midfield position (No. 10 should do) and Ishizaki to a defensive
one (No. 4 or 3) before the match.

New players: Urabe (うらべ)
            Nakayama (なかやま)
            Kishida (きしだ)

- MATCH #2: なんかゥ vs. しゅラ -
-         Nankatsu vs. Shuranu  -
---------------------------------

Threats: Wakabayashi (わかばやし / GK)

Meet Wakabayashi, every goalscorer's nightmare. This guy is almost
impossible to beat. On the other hand, the other players in Shuranu are
not terribly brilliant, so you may at most get a draw out of it. Lay
back and rely on short passes around the pitch during the first half.

Thankfully for you, Misaki will enter the game at half-time and
he will be a very helpful new player. A good strategy to score in this
match (well, the only one, actually!) is to have Tsubasa run forward
with the ball, use the Golden Combination with Misaki when blocked by
players, and use the Diving Header when alone against Wakabayashi.

Once you do score, just defend. It'd be pointless and dangerous to keep
attacking even if you have the slightest of advantages.

- MATCH #3: なんか vs. なにわ -

Threats: -

Naniwa turns out to be a pretty easy team (specially after having to
face Wakabayashi in the previous match!). No particularly skilled players
here, but they do have a decent teamwork.

- MATCH #4: なんか vs. はなわ -
-         Nankatsu vs. Hanawa -
-------------------------------

Threats: Kazuo (かずお / 11)
        Masao (まさお / 9)

Behold the Tatsubana brothers, widely known for their eerie and totally
unpredictable play style. These two just love to use their special
combination to run across the pitch in less time than it takes to say
"D'oh!". Obviously, they remain the 2 players to mark, the others being
a sad bunch of wimps.

They will also use their Double Shot whenever they can and most of the time,
it is hard to block, even at high levels. Another thing I've noticed is
that if you have possession and are being troubled by either, it is always
better to try and dribble him instead of passing the ball to a teammate.

To score, get close to the net such that there is no player between you
and the keeper, and shoot.

Threats: Matsuyama ( まつやま / 10)

Home of the super freak Matsuyama, Furano is relatively better than
Hanawa. In addition to this, for some unknown reason, luck always seems
to favour Furano during this match. Understand by this that the ball will
strike the post numerous times when you shoot.

To counter this, adopt a downright offensive strategy such that, even
when the ball hits the post, another player will head it in. Of course,
be weary about your defense at the same time. You don't want to give
Matsumaya too much space. His Eagle Shot is a real slap on the butt for
Morisaki.

As a side-note, Furano likes to use short passes; try to cut them as soon
as possible.

- MATCH #6: なんか vs. むさし  -
-        Nankatsu  vs. Musashi -
--------------------------------

Threats: Sano (さの / 3)
        Misugi (みすぎ / 10)

Hmmm...Rain will be pouring onto the pitch during this match? That's not
a very good thing...

Musashi is all about Misugi, and Sano to a lesser extent. Sano, as a
defender, is pretty much Ishizaki's counterpart, except that he's a more
serious player. Misugi is a force to reckon with, and he'll be more than
happy to show you this as soon as he is in a suitable position to unleash
his Diving Overhead Kick. While the shot is uber powerful and a pain, it
is nevertheless possible to block it a couple of times if you are at high
levels.

As in the anime, Misugi's heart will prevent him from playing the full
match in full strides. He'll suddenly fall during the second half and an
event will flow in. Misugi will keep on playing, but he will not be as
dangerous as during the first half. Keep an eye on him though; even with
the chap at half his capabilities, he's still an unrelenting threat.

- MATCH #7: なんか vs. めいわ -
-         Nankatsu vs. Meiwa  -

Threats: Sawada (さわだ / 10)
        Hyuga (ひゅうが / 9)
        Wakashimazu (わかしまブ / GK)

3 names that speak for themselves. Sawada is the youngest player in the
tournament, but don't let that fool you. The chap is as fast as lightning
and always apt to make a nuisance of himself. To make matters worse, Hyuga
is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the game. Wakashimazu is also
tough to beat, but he is not as good as Wakabayashi.

And it just happens that Wakabayashi has just joined Nankatsu and is
eagerly awaiting for this clash. Since he will be a mere substitute, put
him in for Morisaki (no offense to him, but between Genzo and Morisaki,
the choice is more than quickly made). With Wakabayashi guarding the net,
you should be able to keep out most shots, and maybe even block Hyuga's
insane Tiger Shot from time to time.

It is almost impossible to steal the ball from Hyuga, except when you
are controlling Tsubasa, or to a lesser extent, Misaki. Alternately,
when Hyuga shoots, use Ishizaki's Gammen Block if you can. It may not
completely deflect the shot, but it will make things easier for
Wakabayashi.

To score, it's better to use Misaki, Kisugi and Izawa. You'll probably
want to keep Tsubasa's Guts to steal the ball from Hyuga and to build
up the game. The best strategy to use here is to get close to the net
and shoot (even normals shots will do from close range if you are lucky
enough).

Sometimes, Sawada gets the urge to shoot from the half-way line. Slick
hormones?

If you managed to win all the previous matches without losing (or just
used my passwords), you may have to play this at least thrice. No kidding!

Once you win this match, there will be a long cut-scene featuring Hyuga,
Tsubasa, Misaki, Ishizaki, Wakabayashi, and Wakashimazu. They will
then be joined by the coach who will announce that he has already
selected those that are to form part of the Japanese national team.

Mysteriously enough, these 6 players are all in it.

With the Japanese team, you can at last make substitutions for anybody
(you are allowed to make only 3 of those during a match though). Feel free
to set your team in any way your want, but don't go overboard as you need a
reasonable line-up to win. It is also wise to put all the players in their
respective positions.

My team (and thus the walkthrough's too) is always as listed below with
certain substitutions made during half-time (mainly those who are too low
on Guts, the strikers being almost always the first to be replaced).

It is also wise to use everybody (i.e. make substitutions in all matches,
putting in different players each time) as this will enable more players
to level up. Obviously, this will result in a strengthened squad.

In any case, keep in mind that the line-up returns to default after each
match, so you'll have to make your changes before each subsequent
match.

Finally, one of my favorite strategies consists consists of using this
team during the first half where I'll use the Tachibana brothers a lot,
along with Matsuyama. Then, during the second half, I just replace
them with Kisugi and Isaza, Misugi. Feel free to develop your own
strategies and rotation systems.

- Match #8: にほん vs. かんこ -
-            Japan vs. Korea  -
-------------------------------

Threats: Rou (ロウ / 5)
        Lei (レイ / 4)
        Son (ソン / 3)
        Shou (ショウ / 2)

Korea may not be a particularly good team when it comes to scoring goals,
but, on the other hand, their defense is strong. Use short passes and avoid
one-on-one confrontations because you will lose most of the time.

As long as you never try to show off against the defenders, you'll be fine.
Use Hyuga to rip the net!

The Brits like to use one-twos whenever Richard is not busy making
all your players look like fools. It's pretty damn impossible to stop him
and to block his shots unless you are at high levels and there are guys
like Ishizaki in your defense.

Thankfully, while England's goalkeeper is quite good, he will not be
able to cope with an onslaught of Tiger Shots and any other special
techniques you wish to use. Just try to avoid using these if there are
defenders between you and the keeper. Their combined actions may
be enough to deflect the ball away.

- MATCH #10: にほん vs. イタリ -
-             Japan vs. Italy  -
--------------------------------

Threats: Possine (ポッチーノ/ 10)
        Gentile (グッチ / 5)
        Hernandez (へルヌンデス / 1)

Italy's keeper is one of the best keepers in the game and his special
block is breath-taking. It is however possible to score using your
special shots (and even without them if you are close enough), but you'll
also win by a slight margin here.

Even then, you will first need to get rid of Gentile who will be able
to deal with any situation. That guy's a real powerblock and can
intercept almost anything, even a nuke.

Possine can be considered as an Italian Misaki, but slightly inferior.
Unfortunately, he still does have the advantage of unlimited Guts (which,
as a matter of fact, results in a huge difference!). He is very good at
dribbling and is overall a fine player. My advice is to mark him (doesn't
really change anything to speak the truth, but it does help) and pray
the computer doesn't suddenly decide it's time to trash you.

- MATCH #11: にほん vs. フラン -
-             Japan vs. France -
--------------------------------

Threats: Napoleon (ナポレオン / 9)
        Pierre (ピエール / 10)

France is, above all (and mainly), about Napoleon (no, not the general...
someone else) and his sidekick, Pierre (no pun intended!). They are both
deadly when the have possession and it can be quite tedious to steal the
ball from Pierre once he has it. I truly recommend trying to score as
many goals as possible during the first half and go defensive during the
second to counter Napoleon's wicked dribbles.

Moreover, his shots may be too much to block for even Wakashimazu's
specials early on, so be careful. And be patient. Alternately, use
Hyuga's Tiger Shot for a sure goal. Almost. Oh yeah, Hyuga will be a
very valuable asset in this match, believe me!

- MATCH #11: にほん vs. ヌルゼ    -
-             Japan vs. Argentina -
-----------------------------------

Threats: Diaz (ディヌス / 10)
        Pascual (パスカル / 9)
        Babington (バゼントン / 8)
        Galvao (ガルバン / 5)

Diaz means trouble. It is almost impossible to steal the ball from
him (even with players like Hyuga and Tsubasa!), and his shots are
strong enough to destroy a tank. Even Wakashimazu's techniques
won't prevent him from getting blown away. In addition, he is equally
good at stealing the ball from your own players in any situation. You'll
also notice how he seldom goes for volleys. He will most of the time
control the ball first so that he may then use his special shot.

Babington may truthfully not be as good as Diaz, but he's a problem on
his own with his ability to run across the whole pitch (and I really mean
it) while brushing all your puny strategies aside. Moreover, he seems
to have a knack for intercepting passes even when it seems he isn't
on the ball's path. Go figure.

When attacking (if you do manage to do so), you also need to be
on the look-out for Galvao most of all as the guy can be particularly
nasty with his tackles. And there's also something about him winning
most of the time. You should also be generally cautious when against
the other defenders, but they can be avoided.

A more defensive strategy would be appropriate in this match. By this,
I suggest you stay low during most of the match and rely exclusively
on your special defensive techniques to prevent Diaz and Babington
from approaching your net. When you have the ball and there's a clear
change for a counter, do so and have Hyuga, Tsubasa or Matsuyama score
with a special technique. The rest of the time, defend and pass the ball
around.

It's also better to score only when you really need to in this match as
most of the time will be spent in your own half. Attack to maintain the
lead and if possible, try to get a two-goal difference early on. The match
will be drastically harder if you are losing, even if this is by a single
margin. Obviously, it is better to score first (which may be possible since
they will start the match with possession).

- MATCH #12: にほん vs. にしド  -
-             Japan vs. Germany -
---------------------------------

Threats: Schneider (シュナイダー / 11) - plays only during the second half
        Metzer (メッツヶ / 10)
        Mezza (マーガス / 9)
        Kaltz (カルツ / 8)
        Capellmann (カペロマン / 6)

Meet the best European player, whose shots always turn into goals,
regardless of how good the keeper may be: KARL HEINZ SCHNEIDER, also
known as the KAISER (which, in real life, is the name given to Franz
Beckenbauer, an astounding German player who played in the 70's).
Luckily, he plays only during the second half. However, you should be
fully aware that he'll do a bloody lot even during that single half he
will be playing.

Alongside him is Mezza, certainly not as good as the Kaiser but still a
daring player. Mark him too (with Ishizaki of course) and try to steal
the ball from him as early as possible since he will always try to pass
it to Schneider.

Kaltz and Capellmann do the core of the midfield work and during the first
half, you'll be seeing a damn lot of them. Capellmann himself is excellent
at claiming possession and keeping it. Someone like Matsuyama should
however do a good job contesting his supremacy.

While most will be tempted to put Wakabayashi here (based on anime
knowledge), I find it better to have Ken as keeper during the whole match
and particularly when the Kaiser is on the pitch. The latter likes to
dribble everybody to be able to face the keeper alone, which isn't a very
difficult task for him. From my observations, Wakashimazu has greater
chances of winning in such situations.

The proper approach to this match would be to take advantage of the fact
that Schneider comes in only during the second half. No kidding, but
there's actually nothing you can do against him. Thus, use the same
strategy as in against Argentina and try to get at least a 2 goal-lead
before half-time. A one-goal lead will probably not be enough, unless you
are really good at the game and at extremely high levels (which of course
makes me question how you could fathom only this slight margin in this
case).

Then, defend during the second half, preventing Schneider from doing what
he does best (i.e. hurting everybody with his Fire Shot and making total
goofballs out of your most skilled players), and go for the counter. By
doing so, you may win by the smallest possible difference. Of course, you
will still need more than one try to do so. It personally took me 2 matches
and coincidentally, this was the first (and only) match I lost in the game.

Another player not seen in the game before. Of Brazilian origin, his name
is Carlos, Carlos Santana. Also known as "The Cyborg".

Does that make Senba? Not quite.

Imagine...

These same players twice as good as they previously were.

THIS is Senba, about as dangerous as Champione in Captain Tsubasa 5.

Since you have already encountered all the players (except for Carlos ~
No. 9), there is no need for me to give the low-down on them again.
Just keep in mind that they are better than in the previous matches.

However, there is a totally new player in this team, Carlos "Cyborg"
Santana. The chap is Brazilian and is actually the best player on that
team in other Captain Tsubasa games. Carlos can be seen as a Tsubasa-of-
sorts as he has pretty much the same capabilities although he does tend
to be more menacing in offensive situations.

As the last team you need to beat, you couldn't find better than Senba.
Their passing is accurate, their defense is impervious and their offense
is your worst nightmare. Since all the players mysteriously got even
better, you'll have to lose a shit-load of matches first so your levels
are on par. Even then, with luck always on their side, you will probably
need to pull out more hair in frustration.

While the team consists entirely of stars with a very offensive line-up
(I mean, Capellmann and Kaltz are playing as defenders -- HOLY ****!), the
team does like to revolve around Schneider and Carlos. Of course, that's
not very surprising considering what they can do.

Moreover, they will use a strategy whereby Napoleon dribbles everybody
and runs to challenge the keeper. From there, he will then pass the ball
to Schneider who will then obviously shoot. Stopping Napolen in his strides
is almost impossible, let alone block Schneider's shot, unless your levels
are high. Either that, or Napoleon himself will shoot.

If your keeper is Wakashimazu, use his Rolling Sobat when the stars of
Senba decide to be totally aggressive. Otherwise, I advise putting Misugi
in during the first half, and replacing him with Matsuyama after depleting
his Guts. The same could be done with Hyuga, but you probably need him
for his bone-crushing tackles. If you do have to take Hyuga out, try to
conserve possession to lose time.

With some levels, some white hair and a lot of crying, you will surely be
able to finally defeat Senba. Using the same strategy as in against
Germany (i.e. offense, then defense) would be the best thing to do here.

After struggling against Senba, you win the tournament. Watch the
ending, try to guess what's going on as the bloody thing is entirely
in Japanese. There'll be a short presentation of the best Japanese
players with some dialogues going on.

With Captain Tsubasa Vs. finally out of the way, head to Captain Tsubasa
II for the NES, and keep moving up, up, and up until you uncontrollably
fall!

This section will cover all the things that cannot be included in any other
section. Consider it as a Frequently Asked Questions section if you want,
although I won't actually be formatting it in the form of Q&A's.


I ~ The Differences ~

While using the same system as most other Captain Tsubasa titles (I'm
talking of the console games, of course), Vs. does include certain
differences.

- There are no corners and throws.

- You can only mark 4 players (which is the number of defenders in the
 game, regardless of the team).

- You do not have to choose the option "Dribble" more than one time
 if you are surrounded by numerous players. Of course, this also
 means you can't avoid the first player and immediately pass afterwards
 in a two-on-one situation.

- It is not possible to change the team formation and the defense type.

- As opposed to Captain Tsubasa (Nes), of which this game is a port,
 you can actually see player locations on the radar map. Sure, it shows
 only 3 players, but it's still a nice addition.

- You do not have to hold the directional buttons until you have
 validated your choices; a single tap will suffice.

- Your players (and the opponents too) can slip when it is raining. When
 this happens, whoever is closest to the ball claims it.

- The music is basically the same as in Captain Tsubasa 1 (NES). Plus
 Toho's unique track has been added. Needless to say, the music in
 this game rules.

- This portable version is way harder its console counterpart.

III ~ The Other Captain Tsubasa Games

Other Captain Tsubasa games that use the same stellar game mechanics:

Captain Tsubasa (NES)
Captain Tsubasa 2 (NES)
Captain Tsubasa 3 (SNES)
Captain Tsubasa 4 (SNES)
Captain Tsubasa 5 (SNES)

There are also some other titles (PSX, GBA, and another GameBoy title),
but they are not on par with 1-5. Of the 2 GameBoy titles (Vs. and J),
Vs. is without doubt the best. Captain Tsubasa J, for the SNES and
produced by Bandai, is a big pile of fecal matters. It doesn't play
in a similar fashion too.

The latest GameCube title is also an excellent title worth checking out
for any Captain Tsubasa fan, but it is disappointingly short and lacks
the memorably frantic atmosphere of the older releases.

Finally, a Genesis title, which goes about by the name of Tecmo Cup
Football Game, was inspired from the Captain Tsubasa series. The story
behind this is that TCFG was made for the American and European
audience. Thus, there are totally new characters in it with the lead
being called Robert (he does ressemble Tsubasa though). One of this
game's greatest features was how you could meet different opponents
during the last round of the tournament instead of the same matches
over and over again. Unfortunately, this didn't suffice to conceal the
ugly graphics and fuzzy sound. It's still a very good game though.


III ~ The Compulsory Tips ~

Captain Tsubasa Vs. is a game that could do with some cheats. However,
as in most CT titles, none were released. Some tips could still help
you beat the game though.

a) I will never stress on this enough; use all your players. An effective
  rotation system will ensure everybody remains more or less on the same
  level. In the later matches, where the opponent is dreadfully more
  skilled than you, you will have no other choice than to make
  substitutions.

b) Although the game doesn't present you with a nice Strategy option
  (i.e. Defensive, Neutral, or Aggressive), it doesn't take much to see
  to this. Simply make changes as per your wish before the match starts
  and find one that suits your capabilities. Although players are
  definitely better in their assigned positions, they can be placed
  pretty much everywhere and still be effective. Of course, one should
  also take into account that these default positions indicate that the
  said player will be _more efficient_ in that given position. As an
  example, while Hyuga remains an excellent player in any position, he
  is always the most liable to score.

c) Keep an eye on everybody's Guts and never forget to take out those
  low on it during half-time. Substitutions can be made only
  during half-time.

d) A good way of ensuring victory is to _overuse_ a player that has
  special techniques (and preferably shots). Once he runs low on Guts
  (make sure this coincides with the end of the first half), replace him
  and opt for a defensive play style.

e) Wakashimazu's special techniques are usually your best bets against
  your opponents' crazy shots. Don't forget to put him in again before
  each match starts.

f) While you may think it dumb to run back into your own half as you'll
  be unnecessarily using Guts, I advise doing so often. This causes the
  opposing formation to break up as the players chase you around. In
  most cases, you will then be able to pass the ball forward when you
  previously could not.

g) The 'Through Ball' action fools your opponents into thinking that you
  won't do anything, and thus they don't do anything either. This option
  is particularly useful when you are marked by 3 players or so. Of
  course, when going for this option, first ensure that one of your own
  players will be able to claim the ball.

h) You don't actually change sides during half time.

i) You can make only 3 substitutions during a match. Use them wisely.

j) Don't hesitate to lose time through a series of small passes in your
  own half to clinch a close victory. Anyway, in such a difficult game,
  it's not like you have any other option either (unless going through
  the same match more than 5 times doesn't rebuff you).
