A classic Tsubasa game but it was the first on a portable console. As
usual, you start playing with Tsubasa and you’ll play through the japanese
league up to a final match against Hyuga, then you will play with Japan
and you’ll finish up playing against Germany... I need to refer that I
believe this is the only "classic" game in which you can score using the
Tachibana’s "Triangle combination shot". Passwords for most important
levels will be posted later.

0.~ About the series

0.1 Story of Captain Tsubasa

This manga talks about a boy who enjoys playing soccer more than anything in
his life. The story starts when he moves into a new city, where he meets
Ishizaki and the great goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi from the Shutetsu school,
the champion of Japan. After a individual confrontation between them, Tsubasa
meets Roberto Hongo, which will be his coach, and we assist to the great game
"Nankatsu vs. Shutetsu". In the middle of the game Taro Misaki arrives and he
will form the "Golden Combination" with Tsubasa, ending the game by 2-2.
Together they will play on a new team, Nankatsu (yeah, the same name but a
different team) and come up to the national championship, where they start by
losing against Meiwa (with Kojiro Hyuga and Takeshi Sawada in it) by 6-7, they
win to Tachibana Twins’ Hanawa (those two had a really strange but original way
of playing) by 3-2, to Nakanishi’s Naniwa by 5-1 and to Jun Misugi’s Mushashi
(he was really good, but had heart problems) by 5-4. So, the finals will be...
"Nankatsu vs. Meiwa" (again!), but this time it will be even more interesting
since both team have new goalkeepers, as Ken Wakashimazu for Meiwa and
Wakabayashi for Nankatsu (he was hurt, so he hadn’t play up to now; this will
be his last game, since he is going to Germany to became a professional
player), finishing this very long game by 4-2, Nankatsu winning. I shall
mention Nankatsu’s first goal, in which Misaki (this was his last game too,
since his father was going to move to another place) and Tsubasa shoot at the
same time, using an impressive technique that will be called "Twin Shot".
The story continues 2 years from that championship, during this time Tsubasa
won two other times the national championship and tries to win a third time,
feat never achieved by anyone else. After playing against Azuma-ichi, a team in
which a really rough player named Sõda plays (he damages Tsubasa), they play
against some old pals, like Hanawa (Tachibana twins used a new technique called
Skylab) and Tsubasa finally master a shot that will be his special, the Drive
Shot, against the giant Hiroshi Jito, who played for Hirado. On the finals they
play against Toho, a team from Tokyo in which Hyuga, Wakashimazu and Takeshi
now play. Well... sort of, the coach didn’t want Hyuga to play but he did it
after all, using his special, Tiger Shot. After another long game, it finishes
in a tie (4-4), being both teams called winner (in this national tournament
there aren’t any penalty kicks in the end of the games)...
Now the best players will go into the national team in order to play in an
international tournament in France. After some preparation matches, one of
which against Wakabayashi and Karl Heinz Schneider (the "Kaiser" of European
Soccer, both playing for Hamburg SV), they win to Italy and their "Perfect
Keeper" Gino Hernandez by 2-1 and to Argentina (with "soccer prodigy" Diaz and
his friend Pascual, Diaz was surely impressive but Japan's team work made them
win). After wining to France in the penalty kicks (5-4), they will finally play
to Germany, which includes Schneider (the "Kaiser"), Kartz, Magas (or Margus, I
prefer using the first one since it sounds me better), Schester and Dutter
Muller (a giant keeper), and they win by 3-2. Tsubasa goes to Brazil, to play
for San Paulo FC with his old coach from the times of early Nankatsu, Roberto
Hongõ. And this is where the first set of manga’s finish, after 37 chapters...

0.2 Story of Captain Tsubasa World Youth

This set of 18 chapters starts with the presentation of a new japanese
character named Aoi Shingo, who becomes a fan of Tsubasa after his team being
beaten by Nankatsu (Tsubasa's old team in Japan), so he goes to Italy in order
to be a better player. After much trouble, he gets to join Inter Milan, whose
goalkeeper is Gino Hernandez, who becomes Shingo's friend. Then, we get to see
the brazillian championship's final, Tsubasa against the brazillian prodigy,
Carlos Santana, who (like Tsubasa) is also able to learn some of the opponent's
techniques. At the same time, a plot from Gamo (a coach that now appears) is
unveiled... He made a team of seven players (Real Japan 7, if you are
wondering) that would confront the japanese nation team (split in 3 groups of 7
players), and if those last ones lost, 7 players would be thrown out of the
team. Sadly, they lost, so Hyuga, Misaki, Jitõ, Sõda, Nitta, Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana are thrown out of the team and Wakashimazu also leaves the team (he
says he doesn't want to be just a replacement for Wakabayashi), making harder
to Japan getting a win in the coming event, Asian Cup. With the help of Tsubasa
(that came back from Brazil) they manage to win the first two matches, but they
have a hard time against Thailand, since the 3 Konsawatto brothers are really
good at aerial soccer and Shinpurasu Bunnark (a tough defender who uses his
Muay-Thai skills in the field) can hurt Tsubasa, making him not able to attack.
Luckly, Wakabayashi arrives when the score was 4-1, and although he can't catch
any balls (he had both hands broken, due to shots of Levin and Cruyfford) he
manages to stop all of the opponent's shots, Shingo also appears and his
combinated moves with Tsubasa make Japan being able to win this match by 5-4.
During that time, the 7 players that were thrown out were training hard in
order to get new techniques, so Hyuga manages to develop one of the best shots
ever seen, the Rayju (if you are wondering, it is a thunder related beast from
japanese mythology) Shot. Due to those new techniques those players can (this
time) defeat R.J.7 and enter the national team in order to play in the Asian
Cup. They beat teams like Saudi Arabia (from whose captain, the prince Mark
Owaiaran, appears to be one of the best defenders ever), China (with a player
named Shõ that is able to counter most shots with his "Dragon Counter Shot")
and South Korea. By doing so, they get to join the World Cup (for players less
than 20 years old)... They start by playing against Mexico, whose great
goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, was able to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shoot, but despite
the difficulties they manage to beat them by 2-1. Against Uruguay, they have
another hard match, mainly because Ryoma Hino (the "Japanese Bomber", one of
R.J.7's players, who had double nationality) is also playing and his Tornado
Shot is great, finally they beat it by 6-5. Against Italy they have an easy
match since both Hernandez and Salvatore Gentile ("European Libero One") were
hurt due to Hino's Tornado Shot, and they win 4-0. On the quarters of final
they get to play against Sweden, who had great players like Larrson,
Fredericks, Brolin (a good defender who manages to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shot) and
Levin (yep, the same player who had injured Wakabayashi), but due to the
appearence of the impressive defender Akai Tomeiya (replacing Matsuyama, his
mate Fujisawa was in the hospital), who stops every of Levin's Levin Shot
(yeah, he has a technique with his name ^_^ ) they win 1-0. In the Half Finals
they get to play against Holland, their captain Brian Cruyfford (the other
player that injured Wakabayashi) was playing but UNFORTUNATELY we don't get to
see the match, for some "not interesting" reason, we only know that they won
1-0. Finally, they get to the World Cup's finals and they will be playing
against....... Brazil, whose coach is Roberto Hongo (Tsubasa's old coach at
Japan and Brazil), who says that Tsubasa wouldn't be able to win this time.
After a first half time in which Brazil was surely better than Japan, Santana
is able to score a goal to Wakabayashi. Japan counter with a great Twin
Overhead Shot by Tsubasa and Misaki's Golden Combination and even score another
goal with Seiki Rayju Shot (in which Rayju is used as a pass and Tsubasa and
Misaki shoot with a Twin Shot). When the match was almost over, Roberto uses
his secret player named Naturezza, who is even able to score a goal to
Wakabayashi FROM OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA (!), making a tie. On the extra time the
hard match continues, but at the end Tsubasa finishes by surpassing the great
player Naturezza and scores a goal, making Japan win the World Cup (for player
that have less than 20 years old). We also get to know that Sanae and Tsubasa
get married and this last one goes to play for Barcelona, a spanish team, and
all the other players join other teams, mainly those of J-League, but some
(like Hyuga, who will play for Juventus) continue to play in their teams, like
Akai Tomeiya... And that's how those chapters of the manga finish.

1. Walkthrough

               Nankatsu vs Nishigaoka
Urabe (no.9), Kishida (no.10)and Nakayama (no.?) play in this team, but
they won't pose you much trouble, just keep them away from your goals and
everything will go fine. By now you just have a good player, Tsubasa, so
strike with him as much as you can, normal shots will be enough, by now he
will be no.9 .

               Nankatsu vs Shutetsu
You will be playing against Izawa (no.10), Kisugi (no.9), Taki (no.7),
Takasugi (no.5) and Wakabayashi (GK), so this surely is going to be an
hard match. You won't have many chances of scoring (none, if you shoot
from outside the goal area), so try shooting only from inside the goal
area and with Tsubasa. After half time a new player will enter your team,
he is Taro Misaki and with him Tsubasa will be able to performn great
combinations, even the amazing Twin Shot. So, use Tsubasa and Misaki to
strike as much as you can, eventually you will win. If you aren't able to
do it, just level up (you will have to replay the match against
Nishigaoka) and try again later.

Now, a new team will be made, the players will be: Morisaki (GK),
Wakabayashi (GK, not playing now), Takasugi (no.5), Kishida (no.2),
Nakayama (no.3), Ishizaki (no.4), Misaki (no.10), Izawa (no.8), Urabe
(no.6), Tsubasa (no.9), Kisugi (no.11) and Taki (no.7).

               Nankatsu SC vs Naniwa FC
This team's GK, Taichi Nakanishi is really good, so he may put you into
trouble, try using Misaki and Tsubasa's Twin Shot in order to score at
least 1 goal, also be careful with their forwrds since your GK, Morisaki,
isn't good at all.

               Nankatsu SC vs Hanawa SS
This is going to the somehow hard, since they have Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana (forgot their numbers, sorry) plus a great defensive player,
Daimaru (no.5). You must be careful with their combination moves and try
striking as much as you can with Tsubasa and Misaki, since they are the
best ones you have by now.

               Nankatsu SC vs Furano FC
Be careful with Oda (no.9?) and EVEN MORE with Matsuyama (no.10), since
his Eagle Shot is very effective even from a long distance. Fortunately,
Tsubasa has now acquired his Drive Shot, so use this and also Misaki's
Twin Shot for scoring and all the rest of your team to defend, mainly by
taking the ball from Matsuyama as soon as he has it, since he is really
dangerous.

               Nankatsu SC vs Musashi FC
Although this team has some good players, you must care mainly about Jun
Misugi (no.10), he has heart problems but for having a great match against
Tsubasa he plays an entire match, making him a big trouble for you. You
can use Tsubasa's Drive Shot and Misaki's Twin Shot once again, since
those are the best striking moves you have by now. Hum, and be careful
since a random event makes the players loose the ball sometimes, because
of the water in the field...

               Nankatsu SC vs Meiwa FC
First, DON'T FORGET TO PUT WAKABAYASHI INTO PLAY, since he is the best GK
you have (Morisaki sucks) and the best one in the game. Also, you need to
be very careful with Kojiro Hyuga (no.9), Takeshi Sawada (no.10) and
Wakashimazu (GK). With Wakabayashi you have many chances of stopping most
of the opponent's shots, but you should also strike a lot with Tsubasa's
Drive Shot (from inside the goal area) and Misaki's Twin Shot, but please
be careful since Wakashimazu will SURELY stop the first of your shots, so
the real game starts after that... Try attacking as much as you can and
defending with all your team, being specially careful with Hyuga's Tiger
Shot (although his Tiger Tackle and Special Dribble are also very good),
and you will finish by winning. Don't get mad if you loose, just keep on
trying (and levelling up) and eventually you will win.

Now you will be able to control Japan's Jr team, and you will have on your
team those great players you have already seen. So, you team will be:
Wakabayashi (substitute GK), Wakashimazu (substitute GK), Morisaki (GK),
Matsuyama (no.4), Takasugi (no.5), Ishizaki (no.2), Oda (no.3), Misaki
(no.6), Izawa (substitute), Masao (no.8), Sawada (no.7), Tsubasa (no.10),
Hyuga (no.9), Kazuo (no.11), Misugi (substitute), Ichinoise (substitute),
Sawaki (substitute), Kisugi (substitute) and Taki (substitute). Of course
you must take Morisaki from the goals and trade him for somebody else, but
think that Wakabayashi isn't very good in this game (his stats take a lot
of level ups before making him the usual SGGK), so you would better use
Wakashimazu.

Japan Jr vs South Korea Jr
Although this is an easy match, you can be put into some trouble, since
their players have good normal abilities and... THEY CAN EVEN SCORE TO
WAKABAYASHI, if you are not at a high level. Better use Wakabayashi in the
first part and trade him for Wakashimazu, since his specials are good
enough to stop any of the opponent shots. As for scoring, you are able to
do it with almost any of your players, but Tsubasa's Drive Shot, Hyuga's
Tiger Shot and Matsuyama's Eagle Shot (even from a long distance) work
really fine.

               Japan Jr vs England Jr
This is another easy match, you just need to be careful with Robson (no.5)
since he is one of the best defenders you will see in this game. Use
Tsubasa and Hyuga for scoring, but by now almost every of your players
will do the trick.

               Japan Jr vs Italy Jr
This is a tough match, the opponent team isn't very good but they have one
of the best goakeepers in the game, Gino Hernandez (that GK) has his
Golden Hand (special) catch which is able to stop almost every shot, so
you would better try scoring to him by using Hyuga's Tiger Shot, Misaki's
Twin Shot or even Tsubasa's Triangle Overhead Shot.

               Japan Jr vs France Jr
Pierre and Napoleon are the only players you should care about (I don't
remember their numbers, sorry! -_-' ), since both of them are have
powerful shots, nice special dribbles and a good combinationed move
(Eiffel Tower Combination, if you are wondering about it). Fortunately,
their GK isn't very good, so almost everyone on your team can score. So,
try attacking with Hyuga, one of the Tachibana Twins' (don't remember who
he is, but he is number 11) and Tsubasa, as for the rest of the team they
should be used to defend. Don't worry if you loose, it's better to level
up now since harder matches are yet to come.

               Japan Jr vs Argentina Jr
This time you will be playing against Pascual (no.9) and "Soccer Prodigy"
Diaz (no.10) but except for Diaz's Drive Shot they won't pose you much
trouble. As said before, just strike with Tsubasa, Hyuga and Misaki and
use all the other JUST to defend, everything will go just fine if you do
this.

               Japan Jr vs Germany Jr
This is a very good team, the best one you fought up to now. You must be
really careful with EVERY of their players, since most of them are good,
but fortunately the mythic Karl Heinz Schneider will stay on the bench on
the first half of the match, since his Fire Shot is almost unstoppable
(nope, I don't think that Wakabayashi can stop it, either), using
Wakashimazu's Sankakugeri you MAY be able to stop it. In order to win
against this great team you must be at a nice level (I mean, if the
opponent team is able to intercept most of your passes, it means you need
to replay this match for gaining a couple level ups), it will also be
somehow hard to score a goal to their GK, Hefner (no, it isn't Muller this
time). So, your main technique must be striking with Tsubasa's Triangle
Overhead Shot (or Twin Shot) and Hyuga's Tiger Shot, always from inside
the opponent goal area. As for the rest of your team, they should all be
concentred into defending and taking the ball from the opponent players,
mainly Schneider (I think he will be no.11, after joining this match in
the second half). I must warn you that this is surely going to a tough
match, you must be really careful with every of your actions and don't get
teased if you loose this match (and have to replay it again), since the
most difficult one is yet to come.

               Japan Jr vs "World Team"
Finally, you get to the final match and you will be playing against the
best players in the world:
GK     Gino Hernandez     (from Italy)
no.2   Galvan             (from Argentina)
no.3   Capellomann        (from Germany)
no.4   Kartz              (from Germany)
no.5   Robson             (from England)
no.6   Pascual            (from Argentina)
no.7   Napoleon           (from France)
no.8   Pierre             (from France)
no.9   Santana            (from BRAZIL!!!)
no.10  Diaz               (from Argentina)
no.11  Schneider          (from Germany)
As you may imagine, this isn't going to be easy in any way... First, you
must use Tsubasa and Hyuga ONLY for trying to score, since they are the
best players you have by now, on the second half you can put Misugi into
play and use him to attack to. All the other players should be used to
defend from the opponent's attacks, mainly those of Santana, since he is
the best player in the entire game, his Bushin Dribble works almost all
the time and against every of your players, so try taking him the ball by
using Ishizaki's Face Block of some of your players special tackles
(Matsuyama has one of the best). As for the other opponent players, always
try to take them the ball as soon as they get it, so that they never
manage to shoot. This is surely going to be a tough match, you will have
to loose many times before being able to win against this great team.

2.Move's List

3. Questions

Question: Why is Wakabayashi so weak in this game?
Answer: Good question... Of course I don't know the answer, but I know
you should use Wakashimazu instead of him.

Question: How can I score? The opponent GK is really good!
Answer: Try using combinations or dribble past the GK. If this doesn't
work, try levelling up and striking with the best characters, like
Tsubasa and Hyuga. Tsubasa's Twin Shot (with Misaki, but you MUST use it
with Tsubasa for better results) and Hyuga's Tiger Shot are really useful
even near the end of the game.
