How to Play
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
[HOWT]
At the beginning of each level in Brain Drain, you will be given at
least two 2x2 blocks of symbols, or quadrants. Each symbol in a single quadrant
will be identical to one another. The computer will then rotate the symbols
around between the two or more quadrants to throw the individual icons out of
order.
After the computer is done, you are given a time limit, and you must
rotate the icons clockwise or counterclockwise to get them back into the correct
position, with a small map of what the screen is supposed to look like on the
left-hand side. Your cursor will also be 2x2 long and wide, so you can rotate
squares between two or even four quadrants at a time.
In the options menu, you can switch between three different levels of
difficulty - Rookie, Student and Genius. At the Student and Genius levels,
certain special effects that serve to make the game more difficult will
occasionally kick in.
Brain Drain has two different modes of play. The first, Brain Game, is a
regular play-through of the game. The second, Brain Race, is a timed playthrough
of 10-50 levels, depending on whatever difficulty you are on, with the intent of
achieving a high score.

Start - Pauses and unpauses the game
Special Effects
---------------
When playing as a Student or Genius, occasionally some things will
happen to make the game more difficult.
Teaser - A quadrant of four symbols will rotate on its own
Control Teaser - Your Cursor will move on its own
Control Block - You will be unable to move your cursor or rotate any
symbols for a few seconds
Inverse Control - Your D-Pad and the A and B button controls will be
inversed temporarily.
Black-out - A single quadrant of symbols will be hidden by ? blocks
Column Black-out - All symbols in a column will be hidden by ? blocks
Row Black-out - All symbols in a row will be hidden by ? blocks
Random Black-out - Random symbols will be hidden by ? blocks
Power-Ups
---------
Occasionally, you will get the chance to win a few power-ups. The clock
can be won by completing a level in under 10 seconds, while the flash and
credits can be won from bonus levels, in which you have to rearrange four
separate quadrants quickly.
Clock - Press and hold A for a second to activate. Freezes the timer for 20
seconds
Flash - Press and hold B for a second to activate. Lets you skip a level
Credit - Gives you an extra 'life' if you fail to complete a puzzle within the
allotted time
I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling
generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT

Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the
link below. You do not have to buy anything right away, but (if you do not clear
browser cookies often) any items you buy within the next 90 days will count as a
'referral order' to me, meaning I get anywhere from 4-6% as a referral/affiliate
payment of what you ordered (ie. order $100 worth of stuff, I get $4-6 from
Amazon.com)
Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you
have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending
them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of
obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even
better, a manual) is superior to not. You can email me if interested at

Although I believe I have found everything there is to find in this
game, there is occasionally the possibility of some super secret level in an
obscure game that was never found because it was too obscure, or the like. If
you have anything that you feel needs to be includes, feel free to email me at
