1. Introduction
---------------
Bonk's Adventure is a fun action/adventure that follows Super Mario Brothers.
Bonk I believe was the mascot of the Turbo Grafix 16. This was one of the
first games that I played on the Turbo Grafix 16 and also one of my favorites.
--------
2. Story
--------
Princess Za, ruler of Moonland, is captured by King Drool and brainwashes five
residents of Moonland, who were a threat to him. Now Bonk must free the others,
so together they can save Princess Za.
----------------
3. Controls/Tips
----------------
D-Pad - Move Bonk
Run - Pause
Select - /
II Button - Headbutt
I Button - Jump
- When jumping, press II for a Headbutt Dive.
- Also, if you continually press II when in the air, you will slowly descend.
Try it with the Turbo Button on.
- When an enemy is about to fall on you, get under it and jump, because your
head will hurt it or kill it.
- Your Headbutt Dive is 2x stronger then your Headbutt.
- You can also jump into enemies, {head first}, to do some damage.
- You reach a cliff you can't jump, jump and press against the side of the
cliff and you should automatically clamp onto the cliff. Then continually
press the I Button to climb the cliff.
- When in water or anything else, use your D-Pad to swim.
- When you see a Skull Elevator, just press up to get in.
- If you want to make major points, try keeping an enemy in the air by
Headbutting it.
- You can climb waterfalls too.
- To ride the vines, simply jump towards them.
- You can Headbutt any projectile attacks, from enemy at boss attacks.
---------------
4. Bonk's Forms
---------------
During the game, you will come across Meat, which will transform you into
stronger forms of Bonk. Note, if you don't continually eat meat, you will loose
the form.
Irate Bonk
Meat - 1x Small Meat
This Bonk is 2x stronger. He sprouts some blue hair on the sides, his tunic is
blue and his face is clenched up, {like a stereotypical Japanese cartoon}. When
you execute the Headbutt Dive and hit the ground, you paralyze the enemies,
{and any projectiles that they fire}, for about three seconds.
Livid Bonk
Meat - 2x Small Meat
- 1x Big Meat
This Bonk is 3x stronger. At first, Bonk flashes for about ten seconds, meaning
he is invincible for that amount of time. His hair turns black, his tunic turns
green, he has stitches on his head and his eyes have bruises around them. His
Headbutt Dive causes the enemies to be paralyzed for about six seconds. While
in invincible mode, your jumping ability is increased.
---------------
5. Flower Power
---------------
Through out the game, you will encounter strange flowers and plants that will
help you during your quest.
Flora Springer - There are three colored Floras. The pink ones contain items
like Hearts and Fruit, the orange contain Meat, and the green
contain Blue Hearts.
Floret Springer - These yellow flowers act as a spring pad, launching you up
very high. These flowers don't disappear
Goggle Eyes - This strange flower only appears if you find a small pink
flower. To find the pink flower, if you have to Headbutt Dive
the ground, until one pops out of the ground and grows.
Goggle Eyes will then fly down and attach to Bonk's Head for
about a second or two. Then leave a Flora Springer behind
with a goodie inside.
Twinkle Toes - These large palm trees start off implanted in the ground. But
once your attack hits it, they pop out of the ground
and begin moving. You can ride them to avoid dangers and get
hard to reach Smiles.
--------
6. Items
--------
Here are the few items you get in the game.
Vegetables - Gives 50 points and a 1/3 amount of one Heart back.
Fruit - Gives 100 points and about half of a Heart back.
Heart - Fills one Heart.
Large Heart - Fills all Hearts.
Blue Heart - Gives an extra Heart to your max.
Small Meat - One transforms you into Irate Bonk. Two transforms you into Livid
Bonk
Large Meat - Transforms you into Livid Bonk
Small Bonk - Extra life.
Smiley - Gather these yellow smiley faces and at the end of the level, you
get bonus points for the amount you have. You get 100 points for
each.
----------
7. Enemies
----------
Through out the game you will encounter many prehistoric beasts. Note, when I
write "hit him # times", this means Headbutting as regular Bonk. These are in
order of appearance.
Al. E. Gator - Strange alligator creatures. They have a head of a alligator,
but they have a turtle-like body and a ball at the tip of the
tail. All these creatures do is move in one direction and only
take one hit to kill. At times, they can be seen rolling. Al. E.
Gators can be seen carried by Stu Stingers.
Henry Hatchet - These dinosaurs wear eggshells for helmets and use a hatchet as
a weapon. There are four types of Henries: Red, Purple, Blue,
and Blue with orange helmet. The reds are basic, they move
quickly and they attack at short range. The Purple are the same
as the Red, only they leave behind Meat, once they are
defeated. The Blues are slower, but they can throw their
hatchets from long range. The Orange helmets are the same as
the Blue, only their hatchets act as boomerangs. They all take
two hits to kill.
Venus Bonktrap - This plant creatures pretend to be Springers. When you jump on
them they transform into their true form and hop about. They
best way to tell if a Springer is a Venus Bonktrap is to see
if the Springer is moving. If it's perfectly still, it's a
Venus Bonktrap. Just jump on them then quickly Headbutt Dive.
They take two hits to kill.
Sally Slug - These blue slugs only move in one direction and don't attack.
Their slow and they take two hits to kill. Note, at times they can
be seen crawling on walls and ceilings, so watch yourself.
Uvulalas - These strange creatures are living Uvulalas, {those little things
in, the back of your throat}. All they do is swing left and right.
Don't bother attacking it, you can't hurt them. Just avoid them.
Fishbone - These creatures are animated skeletons of fish. All they do is swim
left and right, while biting. One hit will do.
Squibbs - These creatures are living cells. All they do is swim around in small
circles. One Bonk will kill them.
Squbb - These thin creatures have a worm-like body and a small head. They swim
up and down, and only take on hit to kill.
Amigo - A living cactus that can't be killed. Just jump over them and avoid
them at all costs.
Gary Geek - These blue Parasaurolophus looks like it's name, a geek. Gary is a
chaser, so hit it twice to kill it. It can also jump.
Roz Erback - Midget Triceratops is the best way to describe them. They run in
one direction, and jump from time to time. if you hit them once,
they sometimes change direction. If you hit them twice, they die.
Stu Stinger - This large dragonfly flies down from the sky then pauses on the
same platform that you are on. Then, it flies straight at you.
Two Headbutts will kill this pest. They can also be carriers for
Al. E. Gators.
Funk E. Fish - These fish look like their almost ready for land. They have the
ability to create a electric field around them. If you attack
when they are doing this, you will simple bounce off. One hit
will kill them.
Mini Mongoose - Tiny biped dinosaurs, that hide behind baby Twinkle Toes. When
you get close, the dinosaur jets out from behind and runs away.
Hit it once to kill.
B. Lou Roach - Like some of the enemies, the name doesn't fit with it's looks.
These are strange crustaceans that look like horseshoe crabs.
They can be seen in water levels, or occasionally on land. They
usually move back and forth, but sometimes they just jump up and
down. Other then that they take one hit.
OopaLoopa - Strange red spheres that are outlined in green. The green outline
is some kind of secretion that protects it as well as allow to
stick to walls and such. If you just touch it, {not attack it}, it
will break free of it's shell and it becomes a pink salamander-like
creature. One hit in either form will kill it.
V.L. Chure - Pterodactyl creatures that fly above the litter of Imps. At first
it just flies aback and forth, above the nest, but then lowers to
your level and flies towards you. It continues to fly back and
forth, hitting you until you kill it with one hit.
Imp - Baby Pterodactyls that are protected by the mother, V.L. Chure.
They only hurt you if you touch them. One hit takes care of these
creatures. If left alone, some may turn into a V.L. Chure.
Freddy Frogger - Large, green frogs that have a sail/fins on their back. For
the most part, they usually just hop back and forth, while
chasing you. But on occasion, they jump up and open up their
sail/fins, which allow them to glide across the screen. Two
hits will kill them.
Timmy Toe - A tiny, blue fly with a yellow stinger. Flies in a wave movement.
One hit takes care of this pest.
Tommy Tic - This tiny, green bug resembling a mantis. It can crawl on the
ground, but flies towards you if you get to close. One hit will
take care of this pest.
Terry Tac - This tiny, brown bug resembling a grasshopper. All these ones do
is jump in one direction. One hit will kill them.
Bill Duck - These birds wear a egg for a helmet. They attack by swooping back
and forth, pecking you to death. One hit will kill them. There is
a Blue and Pink. A Pink one will leave behind an item, once
destroyed.
R. Ed Beaker - Bonk's dinosaur counter part. This red dinosaur has a large
cranium, and can even Headbutt Dive like Bonk. It's also one of
the stronger enemies you face, because it takes four hits to
kill. A good way to kill it is to wait for it to Headbutt Dive,
then jump on to it and continue hitting it until dead. They
occasionally leave behind Meat.
Jerry Jelly - These jellyfish either move from left to right, and/or up and
down. Other then that they have no attacks and take one hit to
kill.
Crocket Dile - By far, one of the most dangerous enemies you will face. These
Crocodiles have flippers/fins for legs, allowing them to move
gracefully through water. They usually move left and right, but
on occasion, they move up and down. The only place you can hurt
him is the belly. When they move from left and right, they move
in a small area. If you get to close, they clamp down on your
head. To get out of this vice, rapid ally press I Button.
Hitting them once, will make them go crazy and swim left and
right at a faster rate. The up and down Crocs are harder to
avoid. They swim up and down with their mouth open, ready to
attack you. If they spot you, you will lunge towards you. If you
miss them, they usually disappear off screen. These leviathans
take five hits to kill. They also drop items, occasionally.
B. Ike Link - A strange amoeba-like creature that has two cells, wrapped around
a thin, flexible shell. It continually moves in a small circle.
Other then that they have no attacks and take one hit to kill.
Andy Ammonite - These are squid-like creatures, that have a s shell over the
head. They move left and right, pausing every move. This is
where they spew out three globs of ink. Other then that, they
take one hit to kill.
Blue Hawaii - These small, aquatic dinosaurs wear a scuba outfit, complete with
a harpoon. They continually move up and down, in a short path.
They occasionally stop to fire their harpoon gun. They take one
hit to kill.
Egghead Errol - These blue dinosaurs have large jaws like the Crocket Diles, so
they can clamp on to your head as well. They move by making
small jumps at a time, while chasing you. To get out of this
vice, rapid ally press the I Button. They take four hits to
kill.
Spike Sauros - Large, green version of Roz Erbacks. Like them, they run in one
direction. They take six hits to kill.
T. Rex - These creatures are not Tyrannosaurus Rexes, but statues of biped,
Triceratopses. Their front is covered with four spikes. They move back
and forth with great speed. At times, they start out with wings and
can be seen moving up and down. But as soon as you hit them, they
loose their wings and begin moving back and forth. They take five hits
to kill. They occasionally drop Meat.
Skins Kellyton - These animated skeletons have one attack: they spit bubbles.
They move very quickly back and forth, only to pause once in a
while to attack. These little creatures take five hits to
kill.
Red Riding Ape - This strangely named creature is not an ape at all. It looks
like a humanoid Pterodactyl. Anyways, the creature will appear
in a blue flash of flame. Then it will shoot a blue fireball
and disappear in the same fashion. Hardest enemy to hit, but
it is easier to dodge them. If you must attack them, use you
Headbutt Dive and if your Irate or Livid Bonk, paralysis it
first. This magician takes six hits.

8. Bosses
---------
Here is the list of bosses, straight from the walkthrough.
Huey
World 1
This large dinosaur boss has one a attack: he fires snot bubbles at you. You
can destroy the snot bubbles with your attacks. There is an easy way, and a
hard way to defeat this dinosaur. The hard way is to get to the top of the pone
pillars and wait for him to get close. Then jump and Headbutt Dive on his head.
Then, go to the other side an repeat. The easy way is to get to the top of the
pone pillars and wait for him to get close. Then Headbutt Dive him and continue
attacking. You should be able to keep the momentum up until the brainwashing
helmet is destroyed. It takes fifteen Headbutt Dives to destroy the helmet.
Gladdis
World 2
This bird is harder to hit then the first boss, but thankfully, you only have
to Headbutt Dive it 9x to break its helmet. This bird has a few attacks. First,
she will duplicate herself and appear on ground level. Then the two Gladdis'
will hop about, shooting green ninja stars at you. After three hits, she stops
duplicating herself and her tail falls off. The tail now hops about madly,
trying to hurt you. She can also fire three ninja stars at a time. After
another three hits, her last tactic before the helmet breaks. She now quickly
disappears and reappears, while throwing three ninja stars. Hit her three more
times, and the helmet breaks.
Kongo Zilla
World 3
This boss is a strange one. It says it a monkey, yet it looks reptilian.
Anyways, it has one attack: it can create boulders of ice and tosses them in
arcs. This one can be hard, because he raises his arms a lot, making it hard to
Headbutt Dive it. It can also be annoying, because you will be slipping about
on the ice. Every time you Headbutt Dive him 4x, he goes underground and pops
out shortly after. He does this 3x, and it takes fifteen hits to break the
helmet.
Punchy Pedro
World 4
Princess Za's beloved. This boss has two attacks: a lunge punch and a rocket
punch. The lunge punch is just as it sounds, a lunge and a punch. The rocket
punch is a boxing glove, purpled by a rocket. The rocket punch tracks your
last possession. It can be tricky to Headbutt Dive it, but like the first boss,
once you get the momentum, it's easy. It usually fires it's rocket punch when
you hit it. It takes fifteen hits to KO this dinosaur.
T. Ractorhead
World 5
Basically it's King Drool's head on wheels. The attack vehicle has all the
attacks of the previous bosses and them some. His head opens a trapdoor
launches the weapons. It can toss ice boulders, fire seven green ninja stars,
launch two rocket punches, spit out lava bombs from a small volcano, launch
four arc missiles, and sneeze three snot bubbles. The arc missiles fire forward
in a downward curve, then goes backwards. When it's not firing on you, it's
jumping around and trying to ram you. It's weak point is the antenna between
the eyes and takes sixteen Headbutt Dives to destroy it. Basically, only attack
it when it stops, or when it's trying to ram you. Move around when it's jumping
and deflect it's attacks with a Headbutt.
Shadow King Drool
World 6
This is King Drool's first form. Because of the Moonland crown he wears, it
makes him more powerful. You can only see the outline of its body. It has one
attack: he can fire energy spheres from out of his belly, that move around the
stage and track you, until destroyed. It also has the ability to disappear
and reappear. Like the previous bosses, his head is the weakness, but you can
just hit the snot. When you hit him 3x, it will disappear. To help you hit its
head, Headbutt Dive the energy spheres to launch you above its head. Also, pull
back when you Headbutt Dive it, because you may be pushed forward and get hurt
in the process. You have to Headbutt Dive it 8x, to reveal it's true form.
King Drool
World 6
He flies off screen when you deal the final blow to his previous form. His true
form is a little bit more difficult. When ever you hit him know, it flies off
stage and may hurt you in the process. It has one attack, similar to the last
form. It can fire energy tritons that have better tracking. Like the energy
spheres, they don't disappear until you destroy it. It also moves around a lot
faster. When it flies off screen, move around, because it will try to stomp on
you. Like before, try to hit his snot. When it lands on the ground, it will
cause the ground to shake, so jump to avoid shaking. Like before, use the
projectiles to launch yourself over its head to get better aim. Also, like the
previous form pull back when you Headbutt Dive it, because you may be pushed
forward and get hurt in the process. You have to Headbutt Dive him 15x, and you
have won the game.
---------------
9. Bonus Levels
---------------
Through out the game, you will sooner or later encounter some bonus games. Here
is a description of them. Note, if you are Irate Bonk or Livid Bonk, the time
in that form resets itself, once you leave the bonus level.
"Feed yourself with Bonus Food"
This game looks easier then it is. You have to jump from Floret Springer to
Floret Springer, grabbing as many Fruit/Vegetables as you can and not fall into
the pits. Turn on you Turbo II Button, and hold it to float to the Florets.
"Headbutt the Hot Rocks"
This game can be really easy, or challenging. The goal here is to hit as many
lava bombs that spew out of the volcano. If you are Livid Bonk and are
invincible when you enter, just jump on the top of the volcano and just sit
there. You will automatically hit the lava bombs with your head. As a different
Bonk, you will have attack them any way you can. Try turning on the Turbo II
Button and sit at the edge of the top and hold the II Button.
"Jump off the Cliff and Spin"
This game is like a diving competition . You have to jump over the cliff and
continue spinning until you reach the ground, where you have to land on your
feet. You get points for the amount of times you spin. Using the Turbo Button
can be tricky, so make sure to time it right.
"Scale the Wall"
This game is probably the easiest of the Bonus Levels. You have ten seconds to
scale to wall to the top and to the signpost. Just turn on your Turbo button a
hold it to the very top.

10. Walkthrough
---------------
World 1 - 1
Enemies - Al. E. Gator
Henry Hatchet
Venus Bonktrap
Begin moving forward and you will encounter you first enemy, Al. E. Gator.
Headbutt it, and continue forward until you meet your second enemy, Henry
Hatchet. Kill him and continue forward. You will see some Floret Springers and
lead to some vegetables. Continue forward, up the hill and past some Ali. E.
Gators. You will see you first Flora Springer. Jump on it and continue forward.
Soon you will see three Flora Springers, but the middle one is a Venus
Bonktrap. Avoid it if you wish, then continue forward. After a Henry Hatchet
you will see your first Flora Springer. Grab the meat and continue forward.
After two Al. E. Gators, you will go up a hill and see another Flora Springer.
Grab it and quickly run forward, so you get as much as you can out of the
invincibility. It should wear off at the end of the level.
World 1 - 2
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Begin moving forward, pass a Henry and up a cliff. Continue forward, until you
encounter your first purple Henry Hatchet. Grab the Meat run forward. After the
first volcano, grab another meat from the Flora Springer and start running
again. You should end up where the area starts to fall into lava, so be careful
where you step. Continue forward until you meet up with a Floret Springer. Now
time with the background volcano, because you can get hurt. Once your past
that, grab the Smiles and continue on to the next level.
World 1 - 4
Part 1
Enemies - Sally Slug
Henry Hatchet
Begin moving forward and meet Sally Slug, followed by a Henry Hatchet. Continue
forward, but watch out for the moving spikes on the dinosaur's tail and back.
At the top, the spikes get a little faster. Take out the two slugs and grab the
Fruit/Vegetables. Then jump on the Flora Springer multiple times to get more
Fruit/Vegetables. Then when you are ready, jump on the dinosaur's head and then
jump on his tongue, to enter the next area of the level.
World 1 - 4
Part 2
Enemies - Uvulalas
Fishbone
Sally Slug
Squibbs
Squbbs
Begin moving left. Be careful not to jump into the Uvulalas and continue left.
After the second Uvulalas, you will see a Fishbone. Carefully hit him and
continue forward. When you reach the end, watch out for a Sally Slug in the
ceiling. Be careful at the end, because you have to wait for the Uvulalas to
swing up before you can move on. The next pool of blood you fall in will be
filled with Fishbone and Squibbs. At the bottom are some Uvulalas' as well.
Swim near the bottom and you will see a Heart and a Large Meat. Grab the Large
Meat and plow through the enemies. If you want a Small Bonk, climb the left
wall to a corridor and follow it. Continue until you have to swim through a
zigzag corridor, and it's littered with Uvulalas' and Squbbs. Use you
paralyzing ability to help you through it. Remember, just jump when there is an
enemy above you to kill it. Be patient with this area, because those Uvulalas'
can be a pain. At the end, break the rocks, grab the heart and fall. You will
see a large skull open it's mouth. It's the elevator to the boss, so get in.
World 1 - Boss
Begin moving forward and the path will collapse behind you. Move past the
center of the stage and the boss will fall on you. Note, he may or may not hurt
you when he falls.
Huey - This large dinosaur boss has one attack: he fires snot bubbles at you.
You can destroy the snot bubbles with your attacks. There is an easy
way, and a hard way to defeat this dinosaur. The hard way is to get to
the top of the pone pillars and wait for him to get close. Then jump and
Headbutt Dive on his head. Then, go to the other side an repeat. The
easy way is to get to the top of the pone pillars and wait for him to
get close. Then Headbutt Dive him and continue attacking. You should be
able to keep the momentum up until the brainwashing helmet is destroyed.
It takes fifteen Headbutt Dives to destroy the helmet.
Huey will thank you and become your friend.
World 2 - 1
Enemies - Amigo
Gary Geek
Venus Bonktrap
Roz Erback
Henry Hatchet
Begin moving forward and two new enemies appear: Amigos and the Gary Geeks.
Don't bother with the Amigo and kill the Gary Geek. Continue forward until you
see three Flora Springers. The middle one is a Venus Bonktrap, so beware.
Continue forward and you will see another three Flora Springers with another
Venus Bonktrap. Continue forward until you see a Floret Springer. Use it to
grab the three Vegetables and land on the Flora Springer. Continue forward,
past the two Amigos is another Flora Springer. Grab the Small Meat and run.
Stop of a the first two stone buildings and enter them for Bonus Levels.
Continue forward and when it runs out, you should be past the large stone
building. Continue on and you will see a purple Henry. Kill him and grab the
Meat, then run again. You should end up near a cliff. You will encounter a Roz
Erback and a Gary Geek. Try hitting Gary Geek near the wall and see if you can
keep him in the air for major points. When you're done, climb the hill and
continue across the quicksand. I suggest just to jump over the Geeks and
continue right. You can get the Smileies by hitting the Tinkle Toes. Continue
right, finish off the Geeks then continue on to the next stage.
World 2 - 2
Enemies - Stu Stinger
Funk E. Fish
Henry Hatchet
Mini Mongoose
B. Lou Roach
Begin moving forward and stop at the edge of the platform. Two new enemies will
be visible: Stu Stinger and Funk E. Fish. Stu Stinger will fly down from above,
so watch yourself. You can either continue jumping on the water surface to get
across, or you can just fall down and swim across. Eventually you will see a
small, round tree on a rock platform. Watch out for the Mini Mongoose that jets
out of there, when you get to close. Continue forward until you see a Flora
Springer. Right after that is a purple Henry Hatchet. Grab the Meat and start
running. You might see B. Lou Roach running across the floor of the lake, if
you fall. Also, note that if you Headbutt Dive at the edge of the same platform
as the purple Henry, a flower will grow. Get it and Goggle eyes will fly down
and give you a Small Bonk. Anyways, you should be able to reach a Flora
Springer when you were invincible. Get the meat and continue running until the
end of the level.
World 2 - 3
Enemies - Sally Slug
OopaLoopa
B. Lou Roach
Henry Hatchet
Take out the Slugs and begin moving through the cave. You will soon see a new
enemy: the OopaLoopa. If or when you fall down, beware the green pools, they
are dangerous. Continue forward and beware of armies of OopaLoopas and watch
out for the little green buds on the ceiling. The green buds fire spores out
that will hurt you, if your not careful. The lowest area of the level contains
Hearts, if you need them. Just continue through the annoying little passages
and rock structures, until you see a Henry Hatchet. He is the only thing
standing between you and the exit.
World 2 - 4
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Al. E. Gator
Imp
V.L. Chure
Mini Mongoose
Stu Stingers
Begin moving forward and a couple of Henry Hatchets and Al. E. Gators will
attack. Go for the purple Henry Hatchet and then start running, once you get
the Meat that is. Plow through the Imps and V.L. Chure. You should reach a
quicksand area, with those baby Twinkle Toes. Jump from plant to plant, so you
don't have to deal with the Mini Mongooses. Continue until you see a Twinkle
Toes, then hit it and ride it to the end. Beware of the Stu Stingers, while you
riding Twinkle Toes. Continue until the next Twinkle Toes. Once you see a Flora
Springer, grab the Meat and continue what you were doing before. Beware though,
after you get the Meat, the area afterwards will have many Stu Stingers. When
you get to the end, only a Henry Hatchet stands between you and the exit.
World 2 - 5
Enemies - Freddy Frogger
Timmy Toe
Stu Stinger
In this level, you get to play Tarzan. Through out this level, you have to stay
above the ground because of the black pools, {which I assume is tar}. Just
stick to the treetops and ignore any enemies on the ground. Pick up and items
you see, because you will probably get hurt up there. Watch out for Stu
Stingers and the occasionally Freddy Frogger in the treetops. Sooner or later
you will see a large, blue dinosaur pop its head out of the black pool. Its
name is Lee Octness, and it will help you to cross the black river. To help
yourself cross the black river, turn on your Turbo II Button and hold the II
Button, to float across. Be cautious when using this technique, because you can
get easily hurt. Continue crossing the black river, picking up
Fruits/Vegetables as you go and sooner or later, you will see a Henry Hatchet
blocking the exit.
World 2 - 6
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Tommy Tic
Freddy Frogger
Stu Stingers
This level can be a pain, because you have to climb and maneuver around trees
through the whole level. Begin moving up the left pole and move to the left
side. To make it easier, turn on your Turbo I Button, and hold the I Button to
climb the poles faster. Go up until the end, then go right. Take care of the
Freddies and move up the pole. You will soon realize that you have to go right,
because you can't move up any more. Use the Floret Springers to your advantage
and jump to the left side. Now continue going up the left, until you see the
sky. Now you have to get on the right side, go up, and then go left again.
Continue going up, until you see the top of the trees. Now begin moving right,
past the Stu Stingers and into the next level.
World 2 - 7
Enemies - Terry Tac
Henry Hatchet
Bill Duck
Begin moving right and use the clouds to jump to platforms. The first platform
you land on, you will see the last of the Tic Tac Toe gang. Before moving on,
turn on your Turbo II Button and jump on the small cloud. Then, hold the II
Button and float to the left. Grab the Small Bonk and Large Meat, then run.
Continue on and if you're lucky, the Pink Bill Ducks will keep giving you Meat.
If you need energy, there is Fruits on the bottom of the tree branches. Sooner
or later, a Flora will pop up. Grab the Blue Heart and continue on. A Large
Meat will pop up in the middle of the cloud area, so grab it and begin running
again. Continue until the end and a Blue Henry Hatchet protect the skull
elevator. Also, a Goggle Eyes should fall in front of the elevator, so grab it.
World 2 - Boss
Begin moving forward and the path will collapse behind you. When you walk past
the center, the boss will appear on the ceiling, upside down.
Gladdis - This bird is harder to hit then the first boss, but thankfully, you
only have to Headbutt Dive it 9x to break its helmet. This bird has a
few attacks. First, she will duplicate herself and appear on ground
level. Then the two Gladdis' will hop about, shooting green ninja
stars at you. After three hits, she stops duplicating herself and her
tail falls off. The tail now hops about madly, trying to hurt you.
She can also fire three ninja stars at a time. After another three
hits, her last tactic before the helmet breaks. She now quickly
disappears and reappears, while throwing three ninja stars. Hit her
three more times, and the helmet breaks.
After thanking you, you gain another friend.
World 3 - 1
Enemies - R. Ed Beaker
Terry Tic
Amigo
Tommy Tic
Bill Duck
Henry Hatchet
Begin moving forward and you will meet your dinosaur counter part. You can
rather avoid it, or take the time to defeat him. Continue forward, past the
Terries and another Beaker will appear. Take this one out for sure, because it
will leave behind some Meat. Continue up the stone building and grab the Meat
from the Flora Springer. Run to the second small, stone building for a Bonus
Level. Grab the Meat next to the building and continue to the next building for
another Bonus Level. Once again, move onto the next building, for the last
Bonus Level of this level. Continue running and you should end up at the next
large, stone building. You will see a couple of Blue and one Pink Bill Duck on
one of the floors of the building. You should get a piece of Meat and if you
do, run. You should reach a small, stone building. Just continue forward, past
the Bill Ducks and Amigos, until you reach a Floret Springer. Use it, and only
a Red and Blue Henry Hatchet will stand between you and the exit.
World 3 - 2
This is a really, really short level. This level has two paths: across the bone
bridge or the underwater path. The bone bridge leads to a Small Bonk and a
shortcut to World 3 - 5, the last level of this World. The underwater path
leads to World 3 - 3. I suggest to take the bone bridge, but beware, it will
collapse as soon as you step on it. A good way to get across is to turn on your
Turbo II Button and jump from the very edge of the cliff, before it becomes the
bone bridge. Then as soon as you land, quickly jump and hold the II Button, so
that you float to the end of the level. I'm going to take the underwater path,
because I want to make a complete walkthrough.
World 3 - 3
Enemies - Jerry Jelly
Crocket Dile
Henry Hatchet
B. Ike Link
Andy Ammonite
Venus Bonktrap
Begin swimming right and you will encounter two new enemies: Jerry Jelly and
Crocket Dile. Don't bother attacking the Crocket Diles, just avoid them at all
costs. Continue forward, either by going under the island or above it, you will
see quite a few Crocket Diles. Carefully move around them and watch out for the
one that is moving up and down. It would be a good idea to kill a few, because
you may get some Meat. Continue forward and you will see a large island. Go
either way, but be careful in the next area, there is an underwater volcano.
The next island you see has two Flora Springers and a Venus Bonktrap, so if you
need energy, I suggest go over the island. Continue past the next island and
you will reach the end of the level.
World 3 - 4
Enemies - Jerry Jelly
Blue Hawaii
This level is another one of those levels where you continually move up. An
annoying, yet easy level. Begin moving up, but stay more or less in the middle,
this way you don't have to deal with the Blue Hawaiis. Once you pass a cliff of
ice, {you will see two Blue Hawaiis}, boulders of ice will begin to appear.
This boulders are actually mines, so if you get to close, the boulders explode
to four pieces and then those pieces become mines. Continue cautiously, until
you see four ice mines in a row. Go right and up. Grab the Small Bonk, and you
will see the exit.
World 3 - 5
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Egghead Errol
Bill Duck
Blue Hawaii
Venus Bonktrap
Funk E. Fish
Crocket Dile
This level is ice field, so you will be slipping into danger if your not
careful. Also, through out the level ice blocks will be flying from the left
side of the screen. They won't hurt you, but you can use them to ride and to
get up slippery slops. Begin moving forward, and after two Henries and a Flora
Springer, you will encounter a new enemies: Egghead Errol. Headbutt him twice
and continue on. Soon you will see Bill Ducks swooping down on you. Hitch a
ride on the ice block to avoid them. At the end of the ride, jump on the Flora
Springer, grab whatever you get and catch another ride on a ice block. At the
end, you will reach a small pool with four Blue Hawaiis. Also in the pool is a
path to a Bonus Level, blocked by a ice block. Continue forward and don't
forget to grab the Meat from the Flora Springer. Soon you will see three Flora
Springers, and the middle is the Venus Bonktrap. Continue until you reach the
next pool of water. It's best to break the ice blocks and go underwater, this
way you avoid the storm clouds and the Bills. There is also a path to a Bonus
Level, blocked only by an ice block. Grab the Meat from the Flora Springer and
continue on. After a few Eggheads, you will see another three Floras, but the
left and right are Venuses. You will reach a sort of moat, where it is filled
with Funkies and Crockets. Jump from cloud to cloud, until you reach a Henry
Hatchet guarding the skull elevator.
World 3 - Boss
Begin moving forward and the path will collapse behind you. When you reach the
middle, the boss will pop out of the ground. Note, the ground is slippery, so
be careful when attacking this boss.
Kongo Zilla - This boss is a strange one. It says it a monkey, yet it looks
reptilian. Anyways, it has one attack: it can create boulders of
ice and tosses them in arcs. This one can be hard, because he
raises his arms a lot, making it hard to Headbutt Dive it. It can
also be annoying, because you will be slipping about on the ice.
Every time you Headbutt Dive him 4x, he goes underground and pops
out shortly after. He does this 3x, and it takes fifteen hits to
break the helmet.
Kongo joins you on your quest to save Princess Za
World 4 - 1
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Spike Sauros
Roz Erback
Venus Bonktrap
V.L. Chure
Amigo
Bill Duck
Al. E. Gators
This World only has one level, but it is a long level. Begin moving forward,
past the Henries, until you reach a purple Henry. Grab the Meat and run. You
should be able to pass the first Spike Sauros and two Roz Erbacks behind it,
before it runs out. Continue forward and take out a Roz and soon a Spike will
show up. Continue forward and you will see three Floras, and the ones on the
side are Venuses. The next area you enter will be full of Chures and imps, with
the occasional Roz. Just continue forward until you see a quicksand pit. The
quicksand pit has many Amigos in it, so you will have to do a lot of jumping.
Also, to make it easier, turn your Turbo II Button and float over the Amigos.
When you reach the Twinkle Toes, use them to transport you over the sand, but
be careful of the Bill Ducks in the air. When you see a Flora Springer, grab
the Blue Heart quickly, before a Spike comes in. After that, the volcanoes in
the background will start erupting. Unfortunately, you can't really dodge the
magma bombs and the ground will have to many enemies. I just turned on my Turbo
II Button and float through the whole level. By the end, only a blue Henry
Hatchet stands between you and the skull elevator.
World 4 - Boss
Begin moving forward and the path will collapse behind you. The boxer will be
ready for you in the middle.
Punchy Pedro - Princess Za's beloved. This boss has two attacks: a lunge punch
and a rocket punch. The lunge punch is just as it sounds, a
lunge and a punch. The rocket punch is a boxing gloved, purpled
by a rocket. The rocket punch tracks your last possession. It
can be tricky to Headbutt Dive it, but like the first boss, once
you get the momentum, it's easy. It usually fires it's rocket
punch when you hit it. It takes fifteen hits to KO this
dinosaur.
After thanking you, he wishes to search for Princess Za too.
World 5 - 1
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Mini Mongoose
Tommy Toe
Venus Bonktrap
R. Ed Beaker
Yet another vertical level. Begin moving up, and use the Floret Springers to
help. Soon you will see three Flora Springers, but all of them are Venues
Bonktraps. Grab the Meat from the purple Henry and get moving. When your reach
a small platform with a Floret Springer, you can enter it for a bunch of Fruit.
The next door you see is a Bonus Level. Continue up and your dinosaur counter
part will make an appearance. Continue up and there will be a door near a
Floret Springer, that leads to a room full of Fruit. Continue up and you will
soon reach the top. A Goggle Eyes will fall down, so grab it for a Small Bonk
and continue to the exit.
World 5 - 2
Enemies - Henry Hatchet
Venus Bonktrap
Bill Duck
Crocket Dile
Begin moving forward and you will encounter the last kind of Henry Hatchet.
Continue forward, until you see a purple Henry in the second tower. Grab the
Meat from it and run. You should end up in an area with three Bills in the
top levels. Continue forward, until you reach a moat filled with Crockets.
Use the floating bone platforms to get over the moat. Soon you will see the
path to the next level.
World 5 - 3
Enemies - B. Lou Roach
Crocket Dile
Blue Hawaii
Part 1
You will fall into a water level. The only problem is that the floors and
ceiling are covered in spikes, so you have to swim in the middle of the path.
Begin moving right and the B. Lou Roach will make an appearance. Continue down
the path until you see Crockets. Maneuver around the Crockets and continue down
the path. Note, the first and last Crocket should have Meat. Get ready to
Headbutt some attacks from a Blue Hawaii at the end of the path. Continue to
the end and land at the wall. You should see some discoloration. Headbutt the
block, to open a door to a room filled with goodies. Note, you can't see the
door, just press up. Grab the Large Meat last and get moving. Go up and move
left, you should see another discoloration in the wall. This one leads to
another room filled with Fruit. Continue down the path, until you see another
discoloration in the wall. This one is yet another room filled with goodies.
Grab the Large Meat last and hurry to the left. You get to Crocket, you should
get a Meat. Continue quickly to the left and you will reach a bone elevator to
the next area.
Part 2
Enemies - T. Rex
Henry Hatchet
This area is just filled with the powerful enemies know as T. Rex, but this
level can be quiet easy. Begin moving forward. Note, you may want to take some
of the T. Rexes out, because one should contain Meat, and if you are still
Livid Bonk, this is a good thing. You should end up near two Floras. The next
T. Rex you see should have a Meat, so grab it and start running again. Just
continue to smack around T. Rexes and the Meat will come flying. You should be
able to reach the next bone elevator in no time.
Part 3
Enemies - Skins Kellyton
Henry Hatchet
Begin moving left and you will encounter a new enemy: Skins Kellyton. The first
one should give you a Meat, so start running. You should end up past the lava
pits. Quickly dispatch more Skins for another Meat. Continue running and you
should end up past another lava pit. Hurry to get another Meat from the Skins
and get moving to the last elevator for this level.
Part 4
Enemies - Red Riding Ape
Venus Bonktrap
Henry Hatchet
The most annoying enemy lives on this floor, the Red Riding Ape. Begin moving
forward and watch out for the spore pods on the ceiling. If your still Irate or
Livid Bonk, use your Headbutt Dives a lot. Also, don't bother with the Apes,
they are to annoying to deal with. Just continue through and don't bother
getting the Floras that are close together, because they are most likely
Venuses. This level is pretty straightforward so I'm skipping to the end. When
you reach stairs, jump on the closest Flora, it will give you a couple of
goodies. Continue up, past the Apes and past the Henry, to the bone elevator.
World 5 - 4
Enemies - OopaLoopa
T. Rex
V.L. Chure
This level is a vertical level. You have to quickly jump from platform to
platform, because the platform will open up and drop you. Go up until you see a
floating bone. This means the OopaLoopas have returned. Continue up until you
see an opening. Don't jump just yet, there is a T. Rex on both sides of the
opening. Try to hit them into the opening, this way they get stuck. Continue up
and the V.L. Chure will make yet another appearance. When you reach an opening,
be careful of the T. Rex on the left. The T. Rex is protecting a hidden room,
filled with goodies. Grab the Large Meat last and get moving. Use that enhanced
jump and you should reach the next opening. You should get a Meat from one of
the V.L. Chures, so get moving. You should be able to get yet another Meat,
from the left T. Rex. Continue up and the end of the level is to the right,
while a room full of goodies is to the right.
World 5 - 5
Part 1
This area is filled with all your friends, who have been turned to stone. This
level becomes important later, so quickly go through it.
Part 2
Enemies - Crocket Dile
Funk E. Fish
This is a long, but easy vertical level. Get rid of the Crocket first, then
turn your Turbo I Button on, this way you can swim up the waterfall really fast
and be able to knock out any Funk E. Fish in the way. When you reach a small
platform on the right of the waterfall, press up for a room filled with
goodies. Grab the Large Meat last and continue up. Yet another room filled with
Fruit awaits you on the small platform on the left. Continue up again and
another room filled with Fruit await you on the small platform on the right.
Continue up and again, another room filled with goodies on the small platform
on the left. Grab the Large Meat last and continue up. The last room filled
with fruit awaits you on the small platform on the right. Continue up and the
bone elevator awaits you on the left.
Part 3
When you reach the top, King Drool appears and drops four eggs. Move to the
right and climb the splitting platforms. Then go left and enter the large head.
If you want some goodies, enter the two waterfalls.
Part 4
Now you fight all the previous bosses, and once defeated, they turn back to
stone. I will just copy and past all the boss strategies.
He does this 3x, and it takes fifteen hits to
Punchy Pedro - Princess Za's beloved.
It takes fifteen hits to KO this
dinosaur.
When your done, continue to wear the elevator was and the floors will open up.
World 5 - Boss
Begin moving forward and the path will collapse behind you. When you reach the
middle of the room, Psudo Za, {Princess Za brainwashed}, appears and jumps on
the throne. Then, the boss appears.
T. Ractorhead - Basically it's King Drool's head on wheels. The attack vehicle
has all the attacks of the previous bosses and them some. His
head opens a trapdoor launches the weapons. It can toss ice
boulders, fire seven green ninja stars, launch two rocket
punches, spit out lava bombs from a small volcano, launch four
arc missiles, and sneeze three snot bubbles. The arc missiles
fire forward in a downward curve, then goes backwards. When
it's not firing on you, it's jumping around and trying to ram
you. It's weak point is the antenna between the eyes and takes
sixteen Headbutt Dives to destroy it. Basically, only attack it
when it stops, or when it's trying to ram you. Move around when
it's jumping and deflect it's attacks with a Headbutt.
When it's destroyed, stray projectiles hit Psudo Za and breaks her brainwashing
helmet. She introduces herself and asks you to bring her back to Moonland. Move
to the right and enter the skull and the skull will launch. When you reach
Moonland, King Drool is waiting for you and breaks the skull. You land in the
final level.
World 6 - Final Boss
Begin moving right and King Drool appears.
Shadow King Drool - This is King Drool's first form. Because of the Moonland
crown he wears, it makes him more powerful. You can only
see the outline of its body. It has one attack: he can fire
energy spheres from out of his belly, that move around the
stage and track you, until destroyed. It also has the
ability to disappear and reappear. Like the previous
bosses, his head is the weakness, but you can just hit the
snot. When you hit him 3x, it will disappear. To help you
hit its head, Headbutt Dive the energy spheres to launch
you above its head. Also, pull back when you Headbutt Dive
it, because you may be pushed forward and get hurt in the
process. You have to Headbutt Dive it 8x, to reveal it's
true form.
King Drool - He flies off screen when you deal the final blow to his previous
form. His true form is a little bit more difficult. When ever you
hit him know, it flies off stage and may hurt you in the process.
It has one attack, similar to the last form. It can fire energy
tritons, that have better tracking. Like the energy spheres, they
don't disappear until you destroy it. It also moves around a lot
faster. When it flies off screen, move around, because it will try
to stomp on you. Like before, try to hit his snot. When it lands
on the ground, it will cause the ground to shake, so jump to avoid
shaking. Like before, use the projectiles to launch yourself over
its head to get better aim. Also, like the previous form pull back
when you Headbutt Dive it, because you may be pushed forward and
get hurt in the process. You have to Headbutt Dive him 15x, and
you have won the game.
Ending
King Drool retreats, while the Moonland Crown returns and restores Princess Za.
All the residents of Moonland are also restored and disappear. King Drool's
tower crumbles and the residents of Moonland reappear on Moonland. Princess Za
kisses Bonk and Bonk goes hyper, {like when he eats Meat}. Then the entire cast
from the game, from enemies to bosses, are shown. When it's over, the residents
of Moonland and Moonland itself, wave goodbye.

11. Review
----------
Graphics = 3.5
Sound/Music = 3.5
Gameplay = 3.5
Overall = 3.5
Although not with out it's flaws, one of my favorite games for Turbo Grafix 16.
The graphics are big and colorful. A good amount of detail, but nothing
groundbreaking. Sound/Music is good enough. The Music fits with the game and it
has a decent amount of tracks. The Sound FX though, wasn't much. It would of
been nice to have a Sound FX for each enemy, or just the bosses would have been
good. The Gameplay is much like Super Mario Brothers. It has a few power ups
and attacks like Super Mario Brothers, so it may get repetitive. Also like
Super Mario Brothers, there is no save system or password, so you have to play
over three hours straight to beat it. Although it at least has unlimited
continues. Overall, for one of the first games for Turbo Grafix 16, it's a
classic.
