1. Introduction
==============================================
This is a FAQ for the DS game Wacky Races: Crash & Dash. This FAQ
covers every aspect of the game. Due to the nature of the game, I
cannot provide detailed instructions on how to race on each track.
==============================================
2. Updates
==============================================
Version 1- FAQ completed.
==============================================
3. Controls
==============================================
Here are the controls for Wacky Races: Crash & Dash. Please note that
the controls for the traps set by Dick Dastardly are listed in their
respective sections. The controls for each racer's Way-Out Wacky Power
are discussed within their own sections.
*************
Menu Controls
*************
A Button - Select.
B Button - Back/Return to game (from pause menu).
****************
In-Game Controls
****************
Hold and move Stylus - Accelerate in the selected direction.
Rapidly move Stylus and blow into the DS Microphone - Accelerate during
the Mad Dash.
Left - Activate left power-up.
Right - Activate right power-up.
Start Button - Pause
==============================================
4. Basics
==============================================
How to play the game, all rolled into one section.
----------------------------------------------
4.1 Screen Layout
----------------------------------------------
In the top-left corner of the top screen is the information for your
racer. The big bar next to the portrait of your racer(s) is your damage
meter. Every time you crash into an object or get hit by another
racer's special power, the bar will fill up. Once it is full, your car
will break and you must put it back together (there are four pieces) on
a special screen before you can resume the race.
----------------------------------------------
4.2 Basic Racing
----------------------------------------------
To collect a power-up, run over a Widget. There are four types of
Widgets that represent the four types of power-ups.
Airborne - A "W" with wings in a black Widget.
Boost- A "W" with speed lines coming out from behind it in a green
Widget.
Attack- A "W" in a bomb in a red Widget.
Way-Out Wacky Power- An orange "W" in a yellow and purple background.
A set number of times in a race, A picture of Dick Dastardly and
Muttley will appear on the screen. After crossing a nearby red/pink
line, a trap will start.
==============================================
5. Racers & Power-ups
==============================================
There are three types of power-ups in the game:
Airborne - Power-ups that allow your racer to become airborne. While
your racer is airborne, your car is basically in an
autopilot mode and controls itself.
Attack - Power-ups that can cause other racers to breakdown. These
usually cause your racer to speed up slightly.
Boost - Power-ups that boost the speed of your racer.
Way-Out Wacky power-ups - Covered in each racer's section. There are
only two types of Way-Out Wacky Power-ups:
"Poke" and "Draw", which are named after the
types of actions they require.
-------------------------------------------------------
5.1 The Slag Brothers in the Boulder Mobile- Car #1
-------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 4/5
Grip: 3/3
Weight: 3/5
Strength: 2/4
Pros:
Great power-ups in general.
Small target.
Cons:
None in particular.
Power-ups:
***************
Dual Club Power
***************
Type: Boost
Info: The Slag Brothers hit each other with their clubs for a quick
speed boost. This lasts a while, and due to the Boulder Mobile's
great grip, this isn't hard to control at all.
Rating: 9/10
*****************
Pterodactyl Power
*****************
Type: Airborne
Info: Just a standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10
*******************
Rock and Roll Power
*******************
Type: Attack
Info: The Slag Brothers hop onto a giant boulder and ride ahead. This
boulder damages opponents, is HUGE, and provides a slight speed
boost. One of the best power-ups in the entire game.
Rating: 9/10
****************************
Way-Out Wacky Baseball Power
****************************
Controls: DRAW towards the enemy racer you want to hit and the Slag
Brothers will launch a stone in that direction.
Info: A traditional DRAWing Way-Out Wacky Power, though it's accuracy
seems bad. Not great by any means.
Rating: 5/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
The Slag Brothers are the definition of average in this game. Rock and
Roll Power is one of the best attack power-ups in the game and Dual
Club Power is great too. The Slag Brothers weakness is Baseball Power,
which is the most important power of all.

--------------------------------------------------------
5.2 The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe- Car #2
--------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 4/5
Grip: 1/3
Weight: 4/5
Strength: 3/4
Pros:
Seems to perform well during the Mad Dash.
Dragon Flame Power works well with this car's stat distribution.
Cons:
When this car is airborne (after a jump or bounce), it is SLOW.
Terrible Grip.
Power-ups:
************
Dragon Power
************
Type: Airborne
Info: Just a standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10
***********
Storm Power
***********
Type: Boost
Info: This thing kicks the Creepy Coupe into crazy high speeds, but on
even the slightly hill you'll be bouncing and sliding all over
the place.
Rating: 7/10
******************
Dragon Flame Power
******************
Type: Attack
Info: Front-facing attack power-ups usually are outclassed by
backwards-facing attack power-ups, though the fact that you'll
usually be in last place with the Creepy Coupe increases its
usefulness. This also slightly boosts the speed of the Creepy
Coupe.
Rating: 8/10
**********************************
Way-Out Wacky Stormy Weather Power
**********************************
Controls: POKE the enemy racer you want to hit and a storm cloud behind
the Creepy Coupe will launch lightning in that direction.
Info: This Way-Out Wacky Power is great at hitting opponents directly
behind or in front of you. However, enemy racers to your sides
are very hard to hit with this.
Rating: 6/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
If the Creepy Coupe had worse speed, it would probably be the worst car
in the game. Horrible stat distribution leads to a "bouncy" car which
cannot drive over bumpy surfaces without suffering a severe speed drop.
The power-ups in this thing are average, which is the only saving grace
here.

5.3 Professor Pat Pending in the Ring-A-Ding Convert-A-Car- Car #3
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 2/5
Grip: 2/3
Weight: 2/5
Strength: 2/4
Bio:
Pros:
Possibly has the best Way-Out Wacky power-up.
Better Speed and Grip than advertised.
About 50 times better than he is in the Wii version of this game.
Cons:
Not nearly fast enough to compete with some cars.
Power-ups:
************
Spring Power
************
Type: Boost
Info: The Ring-A-Ding Convert-A-Car reveals a giant spring underneath
itself and hops ahead quickly. This controls quite well.
Rating: 9/10
***********
Blimp Power
***********
Type: Airborne
Info: A standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10
***********
Shock Power
***********
Type: Attack
Info: The Ring-A-Ding Convert-A-Car pulls out a giant ray gun, and any
racer directly in front of it in short range takes damage. Great
for moving up to the lead, but horrible at maintaining it.
Rating: 7/10
**************************
Way-Out Wacky Freeze Power
**************************
Controls: POKE the enemy racer you want to hit and the Ring-A-Ding
Convert-A-Car will fire a freeze ray in that direction.
Info: Deadly accurate against cars directly in front of or behind the
Ring-A-Ding Convert-A-Car, but struggles aiming sideways.
Rating: 9/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
Despite the game giving this car horrible stats, it isn't half bad. The
power-ups are good, Way-Out Wacky Freeze Power is amazing, and (for
anybody the has played the Wii version) overall the Ring-A-Ding
Convert-A-Car is obviously better than it is in the Wii version of this
game.

5.4 Red Max in the Crimson Haybailer- Car #4
------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 4/5
Grip: 3/3
Weight: 2/5
Strength: 2/4
Pros:
Controls well.
Cons:
Super Prop Power isn't good.
Power-ups:
*********************
Extra Propeller Power
*********************
Type: Boost
Info: The Crimson Haybailer speeds ahead. A generic speed boost helped
by the fact that you won't go out of control thanks to the
Crimson Haybailer's great grip.
Rating: 9/10
*******************
Leap the Leap Power
*******************
Type: Airborne
Info: Just a standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10
****************
Super Prop Power
****************
Type: Attack
Info: The Crimson Haybailer's propeller grows large and speeds up the
vehicle. This propeller damages other vehicles on contact, but
has an incredibly short range and is useless while you are in
first.
Rating: 5/10
************************
Way-Out Wacky Bomb Power
************************
Controls: You don't control your racer while the power-up is active (he
flies into the air). POKE the enemy racer you want to hit and
the Crimson Haybailer will drop a bomb in that direction.
Info: The only truly unique Way-Out Wacky power in the game. Good if
you're skilled, but if you miss your targets you will end up
worse than you were before activating this.
Rating: 7/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
There really isn't much to say here. Nothing stands out in this car,
except for the Way-Out Wacky Bomb Power, which isn't great. This car
does control and feel good, but that's about it.

5.5 Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat- Car #5
--------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 5/5
Grip: 3/3
Weight: 1/5
Strength: 2/4
Pros:
2nd fastest car in the game.
Great grip complements the great speed.
All of this car's power-ups dramatically increase its speed.
Cons:
Easily pushed around.
Outclassed in almost every way by Peter Perfect.
Power-ups:
****************
Hair Dryer Power
****************
Type: Boost
Info: A standard boost power-up that sends this car into
lightning-fast speeds.
Rating: 10/10
************
Vacuum Power
************
Type: Attack
Info: The Compact Pussycat "vacuums" any enemy racers in its line of
fire. While the range stinks, there is a significant speed boost
here.
Rating: 10/10
**************
Umbrella Power
**************
Type: Airborne
Info: A standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10
**************************
Way-Out Wacky Beauty Power
**************************
Controls: DRAW towards the enemy racer you want to hit and the Penelope
Pitstop will launch a kiss in that direction.
Info: Odd, but average.
Rating: 7/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
Aside from the Turbo Terrific, the second best car in the game by far.
Speed is everything in this game. Beginners who want a fast car should
start here and work their way up to the Turbo Terrific.

5.6 Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus
Special- Car #6
-------------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 1/5
Grip: 3/3
Weight: 5/5
Strength: 4/4
Bio:
Pros:
Perfect Grip, Weight, and Strength.
Cons:
Slowest vehicle in a game where speed is everything.
Land Mine Power has issues.
Power-ups:
***************
Land Mine Power
***************
Type: Airborne
Info: Instead of staying in the air, you'll be bouncing on the ground
with this. It stinks on courses filled with obstacles, curvy
courses, and hilly courses, all of which make up 95% of the
game's track.
Rating: 2/10
*************
Bazooka Power
*************
Type: Boost
Info: An average boost power-up, but there is a big issue here: The
Army Surplus Special is so slow that even with this activated, it
can barely move faster than Peter Perfect when he is driving AT
NORMAL SPEED. This controls well due to the Army Surplus
Special's horrid speed and amazing grip.
Rating: 10/10
*******************
Bubblegum Gun Power
*******************
Type: Attack
Info: This is a great power-up if you somehow end up in the lead, but
is useless if you're in last, which the Army Surplus Special
usually is. This also slightly boosts the Army Surplus Special's
(horrible) speed.
Rating: 8/10
*****************************
Way-Out Wacky Jet Blast Power
*****************************
Controls: DRAW towards the enemy racer you want to hit and the Army
Surplus Special will launch a round (of something) in that
direction.
Info: Nothing is special about this Way-Out Wacky power-up, aside from
the fact that you'll go even slower than usual while using it.
Rating: 10/10
+++++++
Opinion
+++++++
Pure Garbage. By far the worst vehicle in the game due to the fact that
it is as slow as molasses in a game where speed is EVERYTHING.

5.7 The Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb- Car #7
--------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 2/5
Grip: 1/3
Weight: 4/5
Strength: 3/4
Bio:
Pros:
Good Attack power-up.
Good Way-Out Wacky power-up.
Cons:
Simply average.
Power-ups:
*************
Getaway Power
*************
Type: Boost.
Info: A standard boost power-up, though hitting a tiny bump in the road
and floating in the air with this is annoying.
Rating: 7/10
**********************
Lighten the Load Power
**********************
Type: Attack
Info: The Bulletproof Bomb spews items from its back, damaging racers
behind it (either directly or near the side behind it). This is
a great power-up for getting or maintaining the lead, and
slightly boosts speed.
Rating: 10/10
****************
Pogo Stick Power
****************
Type: Airborne
Info: A ground-based "airborne" power-up, that is great on bumpy
terrain.
Rating: 8/10
***************************
Way-Out Wacky Re-Tire Power
***************************
Controls: POKE the enemy racer you want to hit and the Ant Hill mob
will shoot at them.
Info: Can hit enemies in front or back of the Bulletproof Bomb well.
Sideways enemies cannot be hit as easily.
Rating: 7/10
+++++++
Opinion

Aside from Getaway Power, nothing stands out with the Ant Hill Mob and
the Bulletproof Bomb.

5.8 Luke and Blubber Bear in the Arkansas Chuggabug- Car #8
---------------------------------------------------------------
Machine Ratings:
Speed: 3/5
Grip: 2/3
Weight: 2/5
Strength: 2/4
Pros:
Best overall set of power-ups.
Cons:
Not nearly fast enough to compete with some of the other cars.
Power-ups:
***********
Tiger Power
***********
Type: Airborne
Info: A standard (though nonsensical) airborne power-up. Unlike other
ground-based airborne power-ups, this one doesn't struggle on
hills.
Rating: 10/10
*****************
Steam Storm Power
*****************
Type: Attack
Info: By far the best attacking power-up. The boiler in the back of
the Arkansas Chuggabug springs a leak and releases steam
backwards that damages other racers. If you are up front, the
racers behind you will need to be a considerable distance away
from you or they WILL breakdown. The only downside to this
power-up is that it is useless if you are in the back of the
race. This power-up also provides a significant speed boost.
Rating: 10/10
**********
Jet Power
**********
Type: Boost
Info: A standard Boost power-up.
Rating: 10/10
****************************
Way-Out Wacky Hot Coal Power
****************************
Controls: DRAW towards the enemy racer you want to hit and the Boiler
on the Arkansas Chuggabug will launch a coal in that
direction.
Info: A traditional DRAWing Way-Out Wacky power-up, though it's
accuracy is higher than normal.
Rating: 9/10
+++++++
Opinion

This would probably be the best car in the car if it had slightly
higher speed. As it stands, the best car without a 5/5 rating in speed.

5.9 Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific- Car #9

Machine Ratings:
Speed: 5/5
Grip: 3/3
Weight: 1/5
Strength: 1/4
Pros:
Longest car, giving it an advantage during the Mad Dash.
Fastest car in the game.
Great grip complements the great Speed.
Great power-ups.
Cons:
-The Turbo Terrific's length and speed means that you will crash out a
LOT if you aren't experienced.
Power-ups:
******************
Triple Wheel Power
******************
Type: Boost
Info: The Turbo Terrific gains four extra wheels and speeds up so fast
that even Penelope Pitstop using Hair Dryer Power can't keep up.
Beware of incoming obstacles!
Rating: 10/10
*************
Burning Power
*************
Type: Attack
Info: The Turbo Terrific gains a fiery exhaust and speeds up.
Excellent for maintaining the Turbo Terrific's near-permanent
residence as first place in a race.
Rating: 10/10

Type: Airborne
Info: Just a standard airborne power-up.
Rating: 10/10

Terrific will launch a tire in that direction.
Info: In the amazing Turbo Terrific, this is easily the worst aspect.
Average Way-Out Wacky power-up.

beginners should start training for this with the Compact Pussycat.

Pros:
Good Speed.
Cons:

Power-ups:

Pulverized Overdrive Power
**************************
Type: Attack
Info: The front wheels on the Buzzwagon grow large and damage other
cars on contact. The range on this is bad, and it stinks if you
are in first. It is good for jumping ahead, especially when you
factor in the slight speed boost.
Rating: 7/10

Type: Boost
Info: A standard boost power-up, though the low grip on the Buzzwagon

----------------------------------------------
7.1 Screw on the loose
