2. Update Log

01/22/05: All scenes in Becky's Story, both Model and Waitress, are now
included in her Walkthrough. I still feel like I'm missing information on
"Serving the Freezing Dish," but the Walkthroughs are pretty much done. I'd
made a mistake on the numbering of her scenes, so I fixed that. Item and Art
Guides are updated, and I added a question to the FAQ.
01/19/05: Completed the waitress version of the Walkthrough for Becky's Story.
The last few remaining scenes will be coming soon. Item and Art Guides are
updated, including a new Golden Line.
01/16/05: Just making more progress on the Walkthrough for Becky's Story. The
Item and Art Guides have been subsequently updated.
01/15/05: Finished the Walkthrough for Brett's Story and started on Becky's.
Created a small FAQ. Added one Golden Line, one joke, and three items to the
Item Guide so that all 100 items are now listed. I'm honestly not sure what
would qualify as offensive language in some instances, so I'm playing it safe.
Added two new pictures to the Art Guide and updated Credits.
01/13/05: A FAQ is born. It's my first submission, so I hope it'll be up to
par. Brett's Walkthrough is finished up to Cupid Behind The Scenes, and I've
laid the groundwork for the Item and Art Guides.

3. Introduction
*****************
Hello, and thanks for reading. I saw there weren't many FAQs yet for Sprung,
my favorite of the early batch of DS games. I figured the game's style would
lend itself well to a fairly straightforward walkthrough, and so I'm taking a
shot at it. I've beaten both Brett's Story and Becky's Story numerous times,
and I'm currently up to 100% of items and 51/52 art. I'll try to add
everything I've found into the FAQ as quickly as possible.
Please note that there are often many ways to finish each individual level of
Sprung, although they generally lead to the same conclusion. The path I lay
out for each scene is only an example of one such way to successfully complete
the level while maximizing your item gains. Any time the branches in a scene
lead to significantly different outcomes, I'll be sure to map them out. I may
go back and add some detail on the less important branches if there's any
interest.

through the level, but you won't get her number that way.

way to win the Cocoa.

Brett's. There are two very distinct endings to this scene, depending on

repercussions all throughout the rest of the story, including a pair of scenes
specific to either job. You can only get the keys if you become a waitress,
and you can only get the rest of the items and the artwork by becoming a model.
I'm going to map out the waitress levels first, because I find them to be quite

receive it from Erica. The art, the Golden Line, and most of the items are on
three separate paths. I've yet to find a way to get the scene's optimal ending
if you take the Golden Line or the items. You'll either have to settle for
keeping your own job or quit and restart the level once the stuff is added to
your Museum.

Knife is obtained through filleting, and the Panties or Pinecone can be
acquired in trade. Don't forget to give Erica's phone number to Brett if
that's the path you're taking. If you succeed in convincing him, you'll get
to choose from a pair of shoes, Make-Up, the BFF Necklace, or Chocolates at
the end of the level. I have no idea how you'd lose your Make-Up, but
whatever. You only get the artwork if Brett agrees, as well.

Rundown: I hate this level. A lot. To my knowledge, no one has figured out
how to slip the laxatives into Conor's drink yet. It may very well be
impossible. All combinations of choices on the laxative path lead to failure,
and there are no items that seem to help. What's worse, the order in which
Golden Lines are listed seems to suggest that the last one is in this chapter,
but I've yet to find it. It's likely that the missing line is tied into the
laxative path somehow. If anyone figures any of this out, please let me know.
As for the good news, the paths for getting Conor arrested and calling up his
father actually do lead to victory.

Q: What kind of game is this?
A: Sprung would be classified as a dating sim. Lots of text, nicely done
artwork, and some of the most clever dialogue I've personally seen in a video
game.
Q: So what's a dating sim?
A: I'm sure that'd be better explained by others, but it's basically a
text-based game in the Choose Your Own Adventure style. Elliot Rivington
Bennett III may have put it best when he said, "It's just people interacting
with each other?! You mean, you actually have to think when you play it? I
hate thinking! And you don't get to go around killing people for no reason?!"
Q: Is there sex/nudity in this game?
A: Uh, no. Hence the Teen rating.
Q: Is this game worth getting?
A: That's entirely up to you, although I wouldn't have written a FAQ for it if
I didn't think it was.
Q: Do you recommend this or Feel The Magic?
A: Feel The Magic is a much better showcase of the DS' abilities, but I got
more entertainment and playing time out of Sprung. Both good, but it's really
apples and oranges once you get past XY/XX's vague dating concept.
Q: Does this game make use of the touch screen?
A: Yes, but not particularly well. I gave up on the stylus after about half
an hour. It's easier to just use the buttons, in my opinion.
Q: Do you know how to get the laxatives into Conor's drink?
A: No. Does anybody? I'm starting to think it's impossible. The game does
seem to have a few typos and glitches, so it could have been an oversight.
Q: In Becky's Story, what is the correct order for applying the Make-Up?
A: On scenes that require the Make-Up, you can ask Erica or Kiki to explain the
correct way to use it. One of the methods that works is: Cover-Up, Blush,
Eyeliner, Eyeshadow, Mascara, Lipliner, Lipstick, in that order. Do that any
time you see (Make-Up - Apply All) in the walkthrough.
