An explanation how stats, element affinity, experience gain, macca gain,
ailment types and combat basics work.

<01001> Element and Affinity
There are 7 elements: Physical, Fire, Ice, Elec, Force, Curse and Almighty.
Physical attacks mainly use Physical and Almighty, while
Magical attacks use Fire, Ice, Elec, Force, Curse and Almighty.
Each element's Affinity range from Wk to Dr.
Physical : Wk -- St Nu Rf Dr
Pierce ignores St, Nu and Dr
Fire to Force : Wk -- St Nu Rf Dr
Curse : Wk -- St Nu Rf
Almighty : -- St
Wk : Weak. May lose Extra Turn while attacker may gain Extra Turn.
Usually receives extra damage.
-- : Normal. Vulnerable (Vul) will be its coined term.
St : Strong. Receives reduced damage.
Anti- passives has 50% damage reduction.
Nu : Null. Negates attack.
Rf : Repel. Repels attack back. Repelled attacks can be drained.
Dr : Drain. Recovers HP instead of receiving damage.
Affinity Priority: Dr > Rf > Nu > St > - or Wk
When setting a passive,
1. If one is Wk Elec, setting Anti-Elec sets it to St Elec.
2. If one is Nu Elec, setting Elec Repel sets it to Rf Elec.
When an attack is repelled,
3. The attacker's affinity will affect the outcome.
Attacker's Dr Force will recover from repelled Mazandyne.
4. Repelled Phys attack with Pierce ignores attacker's St/Nu/Dr Phys.
Due to Pierce, Rf Phy is often preferred over Dr Phy.

<01002> Stat Attributes
Current Level (Lv)
- Increases MaxHP and MaxMP.
- Affects damage received and dealt for most attacks.
*Base Level is not the factor that affects damage.
MaxHP - Affected by Lv and VI
MaxMP - Affected by Lv and MA
Strength (ST)
- (System) Enhances normal attack and phys skills
- Raise damage dealt by ST, ST/VI (major), ST/MA (Major) and ST/AG attacks.
- Reduce damage received by ST (Minor) and ST/AG (Major) attacks
Magic (MA)
- (System) Enhances magic and increases maxMP.
- Raise MaxMP and damage dealt by MA and ST/MA (minor) attacks
- Raise recovery amount for Dia, Media and Diarama
- Reduce damage received by MA (Minor) attacks
Vitality (VI)
- (System) Lessens damage taken and increases MaxHP
- Raise MaxHP and damage dealt by ST/VI (Minor) attacks
- Reduce damage received by ST (Major), ST/MA, ST/VI, ST/AG (minor)
and MA (Major) attacks
Agility (AG)
- (System) Increases Hit rate and chance of Extra Turns.
- Raise damage and Hit count of ST/AG attacks
- Affects Turn Order in skirmish and Hitrate of physical attacks.
Lv is capped at 99 and stats (ST/MA/VI/AG) capped at 40.
Upon level up, MaxHP, MaxMP and one stat point is increased.
At level 99, most have base stat points of 115, but
minions can exceed the base via bonus stat points and Add-on effects.

<01003> Macca Gain
Defeating enemies yield a certain amount of Macca.
If the team has passive: Moneybags, Macca gain is increased by +20%.
0 moneybags = 150 (100%)
1 moneybags = 180 (120%)
2 moneybags = 210 (140%)
3 moneybags = 240 (160%)
Macca Bonus, unlocked on Day 2 morning, is applied after.
Technical: +05% for every Extra Turn added to allies or removed from foes.
No Damage: +20% if you have taken no damage by the end of a skirmish.
Overwhelm: +30% if you defeat all three enemies in a single skirmish.
Casualty: -30% for each ally KOed in a skirmish.
Shield: +20% for a Null, Drain or Repel activated.
-20% if activated by enemy. Cannot exceed +/-20%.
Cap for positive Macca Bonus is unknown but it can go beyond +100%.
A negative Macca Bonus at end of skirmish will not result in Macca loss.

<01004> Experience Gain

Base Level EXP = Base amount of EXP to level up
= Level x (Level + 1) x 3.5
At level 60, Base Level EXP is 12810.
Minions incur an additional penalty, which increases per level
until the EXP cap of 65535 is reached.
EXP Mod = 1 + (Current Lv - Base Lv) / 2
A Lv 32 Pixie (Base Lv 02) will incur a x16 penalty,
thus it will require 3696 x 16 = 59136 EXP to level up.
Hence, low base level demons will take longer to reach Lv 99.

When a deployed team kills an enemy,
a. Its members get 100% (Default and Watchful) and 120% (Vigilant)
b. Other deployed teams get nothing
c. Undeployed leaders get 80% (default), 90% (Watchful) and 96% (Vigilant)
d. Undeployed minions get 00% (default), 80% (Watchful) and 96% (Vigilant)
After the basic EXP gain is determined, two more factors are applied.
r. Level Scaling.
O When underlevelled, minions get base EXP while leaders get more.
O When overlevelled, minions and leaders get less EXP.
If [Remove EXP limit] is activated, both get base EXP.
s. Number of team(s) deployed, which affects undeployed members.
An undeployed leader with Vigilant gets
96% (1 teams) 48% (2 teams) 32% (3 teams) 24% (4 teams)
More deployed teams = Less EXP per kill for the undeployed.

Leaders share one skill pool and cannot equip the same skill.
Skill Crack, unlocked on Day 1 evening, enables leaders to get more skills.
A deployed leader can choose one skill and the target to skill crack from.
The team must defeat the specific target to skill crack successfully.
If leader meets the stat conditions, it can set the skill after skill crack.
Otherwise, it can set the skill later after meeting stats requirement.
When Joint Skill Crack is enabled,
MC can skill crack targets of leaders with Joint Skill Crack and
Leaders with Joint Skill Crack can skill crack MC's target.
This function enables the player to do multiple skill crack on one target.

Field Attributes
O Move - Affects how many spaces a team can move.
Default Move for leaders is 04. Raise with Avian and Wilder.
Obstacles can be ignored while travelling with Avian or Genma.
O Range - Hidden. Affects attack range of team.
Default Range for leaders is 01. Raise with Dragon and Vile.
O Speed - Hidden. Affects cost of field action
Default Speed for leaders is 50, but one leader has higher SPD.
O WT - Coined. Accumulated cost determines team's next field turn.
Attacking, moving, using field ability and being attacked incurs +WT.
Cost-wise, Move > Ranged Attack > Attack >> Field Ability
There is min. WT per field turn, which is approx. 2 field ability.

O Attack: Executes Normal Attack.

O Guard: Reduces damage received.
A team consists of a summoner (Leader) and up to 2 minions.
When the leader (center position) is defeated, the team is defeated.
O Damage Mitigation
When a leader has minions, it receives reduced damage (minion buffering).
0 Minion: 1044-1251 (~100%)
1 Minion: 0723-0865 (~ 75%)
2 Minion: 0514-0601 (~ 50%)
However, some attacks ignore minion buffering.
O EXP and Macca Gain
When an enemy leader is defeated, surviving minions yield 50% EXP & Macca.
To optimize gains, one should defeat the entire team.
O Ranged attack
A team with Dragon/Vile gets ranged benefits
at cost of no Extra Turns and higher cost for attacking.
When an attacked team is outranged, it cannot act or
activate recovery & counter passives but Auto skills usually work.
O Combat System
Combat utilizes [Extra Turn] System, starting with Normal Turn.
Hitting weakness/crits or negating attacks may activate Extra Turn.
Double Extra turn (second extra turn) may activate
if the conditions are done in Extra Turn and team has an Omega demon.

<01006> Ailment
Curse
- Lasts until cured.
- Afflicted cannot recover HP or MP.
- Inflicted via Ghost's racial skill: Possession.
- However, many bosses are immune to Curse.
Forget
- Does not persist after skirmish.
- Afflicted cannot use skills.
- Inflicted via Gigajama (Almighty) or +Forget (Curse)
Shock (Elec) / Freeze (Ice)
- Does not persist after skirmish.
- Afflicted cannot take an action. Cannot evade.
- Elemental immunity (eg Dr Elec) not ignored.
- Physical immunity (eg Rf Phys) ignored.
- 100% crit rate.
- Crit damage for Physical element increased and stacks with Crit up.
- Crit damage for Almighty element Physical attacks functions normally.
Mow Down = 22-26 (100%)
Normal Crit = 33-39 (150%) w/ Freeze crit = 49-58
Crit Up = 40-48 w/ Freeze crit = 60-71
Current theory is freeze crit gives x1.5 damage mod.
Charm (Curse)
- Does not persist after skirmish.
- Afflicted may heal opposing team or attack teammates.
- Can be instant killed with Death Call.
Petrify (Curse) - Grey
- Lasts until cured.
- Elemental & Physical affinity (weakness, resist & immunity) ignored.
- Immune to other ailments.
- Phys to Curse damage reduced to ~10%. Almighty not affected.
- Physical and Force attacks may shatter petrified target.
- Afflicted target cannot act. If afflicted is a leader, MOV = 0.
- Can be instant killed with Death Call.
Poison (Curse) - Purple
- Lasts until cured.
- Loses HP at start of field turn and every active turn in skirmish.
- Poison deals 20% maxHP but cannot kill.
- Can be instant killed with Death Call.
Paralyze (Curse) - Yellow
- Lasts until cured.
- Reduced accuracy and evade.
- Physical and Elemental immunities not ignored.
- Target may not take an action.
- Can be instant killed with Death Call.
Ill-starred (Almighty) - Green
- Lasts until cured.
- When afflicted is damaged, receives additional +200 damage
- Inflicted by Ominous Star (Boss-only, Field Attack)

High Star demons may have positive bonus stats and better/more skills.
In contrast, low star demons may have negative bonus stats.

Player has 5.0s to place one bid.
Buy now - Win auction but pay 3x of starting bid.
After winning auction, demon may negotiate for more.
Accept extra cost - (??? odds) Refund back some macca.
Refuse extra cost - (Low odds) Demon may leave.

After winning in Normal Auction, Special Auction may ocur.
Rank of last purchase may randomly replace demons and
blanks of all ranks are filled up with Spcal Auction demons.
Special Auction offers rare demons and bargain-priced demons.
Rare demons may get more levels, bonus stats and better/more skills,
while Bargain demons are cheaper than average.
Unlike Normal Auction, Special Auction demons are auctioned simultaneously.
When player starts any auction, other Special Auction demons are sold
at the same time, so player has to prioritize which to purchase.
Begin - Start bid from starting bid
Player has 5.0s to place bids until
a. all competitors give up.
b. time runs out, leading to a Final Bid.
EG. For Raging Orochi, Final Bid can go up to 17700 macca or more,
while competitors may give up from an early large bid of 15500.
Forcing competitors to give up early is usually the optimal choice.

A fraction of Level Up stats and bonus stats of ingredients are inherited

There are several types of fusion available in DeSu 2.
Normal Fusion: Fuse two demons to create a new demon.
a. The ingredients' race determine the resultant's race.
EG. Omega x Snake = Kishin
b. Ingredients' base Lv is averaged to determine resultant's tier.
To fuse, averaged Base Lv is less than current tier
but equal or higher than prior tier.
EG. Shiva (Omega, Lv 76) x Orochi (Snake, Lv 66) = Ometeotl
Averaged Base Lv is 71, which is less than Ometeotl (Kishin, Base Lv 75)
but equal or higher than Bishamonten (Kishin, Base Lv 71)

A classic combo to shorten distance to enemy teams.

Magic build is often recommended to new players in NG because
a mage MC can damage, heal and support its team while
equipping passives like Anti-Most to increase own survivability.
In addition, Mage MC only needs to raise MA for damage,
unlike ST+AG for Multi-Strike or ST+VI for Deathbound,
thus Mage MC can reach his damage peak for stats much earlier.
ST: Can be ignored, unless you want skills like
Blitzkrieg (ST 8), Fire Amp (ST 12), etc
MA: Maxed by endgame.
VI: At least 12. Force Amp (VI 12), Phys Repel (VI 12), etc
AG: At least 15. Debilitate (AG 14), Dual Shadow (AG 15), etc
I recommend MA/AG Build, prioritising MA for damage and
enough AG to act before most/all enemy grunts in skirmishes.
By acting earlier, a mage can exploit enemy's weakness,
deal damage to kill most or all grunts, thus minimizing damage.
Mage MC's possible limitation is early game with limited MP.
The situation starts to change at Day 3 [Man of Fury],
where he can crack Drain to drain HP and MP from one target.
In addition, Tyrant demons become available after reaching Lv 26.

I recommend ST/AG Build.
ST: High
MA: Can be ignored.
VI: At least 12. Drain Hit (VI 12), Phys Repel (VI 12), etc
AG: High
Early game, prioritise ST to optimise ST-based skills and enough AG.
Most players fight the final boss between Lv 60-65 in NG,
there is stat point limit, which is 81 points at Lv 65.
At MA 04 VI 12, there is 65 points left for ST and AG.
Since it is impossible to max two stats at Lv 65,
you should make a choice at a certain point.
a) Prioritize AG over ST to optimize Multi-Strike.
Multi-Strike's Hit isn't random but determined by AG difference.
In addition, hits are not spread out but calculated individually,
meaning Multi-Strike can deal up to 7 hits on each enemy.
Example - Against AG 20 enemy,
ST 40 AG 25 will hit 4 times and ST 25 AG 40 will hit 7 times.
While the former will deal more damage per hit,
the latter has a higher hit count, which yields higher total damage.
In addition, Hinako has ST 28 AG 28 at Lv 65, thus
ST 25 AG 40 Multi-Strike will outperform her at late game in NG.
In addition, Tetrakarn and Shield All have reduced impact
as one hit is blocked/repelled while the remaining hits go through,
making it harder for enemy grunts to survive the onslaught.
There is a drawback to this build.
Slower ST growth means ST and ST/VI skills are weaker.
Your mobbing skill will be weaker around Day 4 and/or 5
until Multi-Strike is cracked on Day 6.
b) Prioritize ST over AG to optimize Deathbound.
With adequate AG, you are more likely to act before enemy grunts,
use ST/VI skills at full HP, kill or weaken grunts,
and possibly weaken enemy retaliation if they survived.
While Multi-Strike may be less optimal for single target,
you can use ST/VI skills like Deathbound to deal with bosses.
Since Keita maxes his ST at Lv 69,
your ST 40 Deathbound will be stronger than his at Lv 65.
Why ST/AG may be preferred over ST/VI for Deathbound in NG.
At Lv 65, optimizing VI leads to low AG, which incur other risks.
a. Low AG means enemy Multi-Strike users get more hits.
b. AG affects accuracy for physical attack and missing affects damage.
c. You may take damage if you act after enemies, which weakens Deathbound.
Using Deathbound at Full HP Vs enemy Lv 43 Lham Dearg,
Lv 66 ST 40 VI 25 dealt 511-613
Lv 66 ST 40 VI 40 dealt 534-640
d. Despite VI 15 difference, the effect of VI is small on Deathbound.
While ST/VI build has the benefit of increased survivability,
ST/AG build with MA 4 VI 12 is able to complete NG with [Unkillable].
