:::::Intro:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::[1.A]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~Route Maneuver ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[1.B]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The route maneuver system or RMS is the essence of Rondo of Swords which
distinguishes it from other SRPG's. This system is thoroughly described in the
manual, but for those of you who are too lazy to read that or for whatever
other reason *rolls eyes* don't have it then I will describe it for you. The
RMS is the way you attack enemies, gain bonuses and move around. To attack the
enemy move through them, to gain bonuses move past your own ally, who has a
support skill. RMS cannot be applied to archers and mages instead they gain
their own command. Bow or Magic, respectively.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~Momentum Counter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[1.C]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Momentum Counter, often shortened to MC is a feature exclusive to Rondo of
Swords. MC is gained by, healing allies and attacking/killing enemies. Momentum
Counter once again is thoroughly described in the manual or the tutorial. But
to put it simply, the higher MC you obtain you will get different status
boosts, higher attack and ultimately a higher priority in the enemies To Kill
list, it's an unavoidable double edged sword and often the last strand of hope
between life and death of a character.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~Skills ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[1.D]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This game is so skill-centric it's dangerous. Let me tell you why, skills are
obtained through skill points, with me so far? And to obtain these skill points
you have to level. But if you go around chucking skill points into every skill
you see you'll run out very quickly and very fatally. Learn some useless skills
and you're stuck with them until the end of the game, no undoing them after
their set. If you are wise these are your greatest asset, used carelessly and
you've basically screwed yourself over. Remember, if you’re uncertain don't
spend them. Also remember, for a skill to take effect you must set it!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~Hurt Status ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[1.E]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If a character dies in battle, they will have the "hurt" status for the next
stage. This means two things. First, they cannot be sent on ANY errands while
hurt. Second, if they go into battle while hurt, all of their stats will be
halved (except HP, MP, and Mov). If you don't want to restart a battle because
a character died, that is fine but just know the consequences of being hurt.
It is best (obviously) to make sure everyone survives.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~~General Tips ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~[1.F]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plan ahead for Card and Smith quests. These are extremely valuable assets in
making gameplay easier.
Try not to let any of your characters fall too behind in level to the rest of
the team, even if their just questers. Quests still have a difficulty level is
this is judged by the level of the member who takes it.
Let the enemy come to you. This will give you the first shot. Don't charge in
unless you are sure you can take a focused attack from all the enemies at once
and can immediately kill them the next turn.
Promote as early as possible, there's no penalty for promoting late (except a
level cap of 25) but for immediate benefits promote early!
:::Characters :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::[2.A]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: SERDIC ::~~
Imitation Prince
- Formerly Prince Serdic’s body double, the identically named Serdic took his
place permanently when the prince was killed during the Grand Meir’s invasion.
The crown prince passed the holy blade to him and asked him to fulfil his dying
wishes. Serdic is now on a quest to reclaim Bretwalde, but he must take care
not to let his allies know that he is not the real Serdic.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 1
Growth Rate :
Serdic Level 1 HP 192 MP 39 Atk. 22 Def. 30 Mag. 21 Mov. 6
Serdic Level 20 HP 268 MP 49 Atk. 31 Def. 39 Mag. 30 Mov. 6
Promotes to :
Prince –Stage 20> Cold Emperor or Arch Paladin
“Those are my true feelings, stripped bare of any and all lies”
Yogurt’s Comments:
[9 / 10]
Early game Serdic may feel like a pain to train and seriously. The game ends
when he dies? Seriously why would anybody use this guy? Well too bad, if you’re
even considering not letting him on, he’s the main character and is mandatory.
Through early-game his average movement coupled with his relatively poor attack
(in comparison to your other two hard hitters Margus and Kay) he feels like the
most crippled main character ever, right? Wrong. After promotion is when Serdic
really shines, his attack skyrockets , he obtains ZOC or Null ZOC and he
basically just becomes the literal prince in shining armor as he is portrayed,
unless you go the more… evil path of course…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: KAY ::~~
Eager, Young Knight of Bretwalde
- A young Bretwalde knight who fled the kingdom alongside Serdic. He is
passionate, eager, and liable to rush in unthinking. He fights on horseback,
allowing him to use a two-handed spear. His usual partner in battle is Margus.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 1
Growth Rate :
Kay Level 1 HP 204 MP 5 Atk. 26 Def. 24 Mag. 13 Mov. 8
Kay Level 20 HP 308 MP 6 Atk. 33 Def. 33 Mag. 20 Mov. 8
Promotes to :
White Knight -2 Battle & 1 Captain> Templar
“Just leave the attack to me! Charge!”
Yogurt’s Comments :
[ 6 ½ / 10 ]
This guy will be your primary offense!... until stage 11. When suddenly Owl and
Alhambra will pop up and become your hardest hitters. Considering you have to
level both Owl and Alhambra from lvl 8 it ultimately becomes worth it as they
both obtain the skill sprint which allows them to out-move and out-hit Kay. He
gets a little better in New Game + but that another matter…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: MARGUS ::~~
Heavy Flirt of Bretwalde
- A heavy infantryman of Bretwalde who fled the kingdom alongside Serdic. He
often has to dissuade Kay from rushing into things. His rough exterior belies
his easygoing demeanour and encyclopaedic knowledge of the kingdom. He never
passes up any opportunity to strike up a conversation with a beautiful woman.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 1
Growth Rate :
Margus Level 1 HP 282 MP 17 Atk. 35 Def. 37 Mag. 18 Mov. 5
Margus Level 20 HP 494 MP 18 Atk. 47 Def. 49 Mag. 23 Mov. 5
Promotes to:
Sentinel -2 Battle & 1 Captain Proof> Phalanx
“Kay don’t be so hasty!”
Yogurt’s Comment:
[ 8 ½ / 10 ]
Great to use… as a meatshield, his intended purpose. This guy can take the
damage and dish it too. Too bad his range is so limited, without movement
boosting equipment he’s basically asking to be swarmed on by a bunch of high
movement enemies. But remember everything has a flaw, Margus’ being his
aversion to magic. 2 – 3 Shots of flame will polish this guy right off the
screen with a puff of yellow smoke. Useful for defending bottlenecks w/ his
ZOC and high health.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: SELMER ::~~
Cool as the Ice he Wields
- An Ice warlock from Almeria. He is mature for his age, and intensely devoted
to his studies. He joins the Bretwalde army under the order of his master,
Arios.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 2
Growth Rate :
Selmer Level 5 HP 52 MP 61 Atk. 14 Def. 15 Mag. 42 Mov. 4
Selmer Level 20 HP 91 MP 121 Atk. 15 Def. 21 Mag. 51 Mov. 4
Promotes to:
Sorcerer -2 Hermit & 1 Sage Proof> Warlock
“We cannot allow this obscenity to exist!”
Yogurt’s Comments :
[ 3 / 10 ]
Early-game he’s fine as your primary caster… But as the game advances you’ll
find much better magic wielders such as Cotton and Igraine. Unlike many other
characters he’s horribly underpowered with one of the lowest hp’s and defences
in game. Coupled with his weak movement he’s just asking to be preyed on.
Selmer is highly unadvised and should be better left at doing quests.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: SASHA ::~~
Swordmaiden of the Sands
- A swordswoman of the Shalem Federation who is constantly at Ansom's side to
guard his life. She is secretly in love with him... though it isn't much of a
secret.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 4
Growth Rate :
Sasha Level 5 HP 114 MP 29 Atk. 23 Def. 25 Mag. 36 Mov. 7
Sasha Level 20 HP 179 MP 31 Atk. 29 Def. 31 Mag. 44 Mov. 7
Promotes to:
Fencer -2 Battle & 1 Captain> Sword Master
“As long as you are safe, young master my own well-being is irrelevant.”
Yogurt’s Comments :
[ 8 / 10 ]
Sasha is one of the oddballs that don’t quite fit into the party as their
supposed to. As a melee fighter she has terrible health, but surprisingly all
her other stats are way above average. She also has one of the highest
potentials in the game as if trained correctly, she can easily OHKO everything
and this coupled with her good movement and armour-piercing OB make her a
formidable force to be reckoned with. If health is of concern, after promotion
all her stats will skyrocket, removing this problem.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: ANSOM ::~~
Hawkeye of the Sands
- The son of Emir Darsin, he is popular with all of Shalem's tribes, and is a
likely candidate to take charge of the Federation someday. Once the Empire
began its invasion, he decided to journey with his old friend Serdic.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 5 (Requirement = Talk with anybody )
Growth Rate :
Ansom Level 5 HP 226 MP 2 Atk. 34 Def. 21 Mag. 10 Mov. 7
Ansom Level 20 HP 374 MP 3 Atk. 43 Def. 27 Mag. 11 Mov. 7
Promotes to :
Terra Archer -2 Hawk & 1 Hunter Proof> Hawk Eye
“It would be irresponsible for me to die here. Given the choice, I would rather
live and be miserable.”
Yogurt’s Comments:
[ 9 ½ / 10 ]
Ansom is an absolute MUST for any party. He is grossly broken and is the bane
of slow moving enemies and mages. Although his weapon might not look too
impressive on first glance, it basically DOUBLES hit Str. As for every time
Ansom’s strength grows so does the attack by the same amount as his strength of
his bow. Also he obtains the ability to hit twice later in the game giving him
twice the pwnage. Definitely a must have for the team. Only thing you have to
watch out for is cavalry as they often have high defence, that doesn’t allow
you to OHKO them and high movement.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: MARIE ::~~
Tragic Princess
- Prince Serdic's younger sister by blood, she has been living in a Veronan
monastery. She is soft-spoken, but has ferocious inner strength and cares
deeply for her older brother.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 5
Growth Rate :
Marie Level 3 HP 42 MP 74 Atk. 4 Def. 4 Mag. 40 Mov. 4
Marie Level 20 HP 76 MP 258 Atk. 5 Def. 9 Mag. 52 Mov. 4
Promotes to :
Divine Maiden -> Cannot Class Change
“If there’s even a slight chance of saving people, our choice is clear, isn’t
it?”
Yogurt’s Comments:
[ 8 ½ / 10 ]
Great healer, Marie is a fantastic addition to the team. Though sometimes she
may lag behind the rest of the team because of her poor movement the range of
her healing is spectacular and will save you on many occasions. Also it should
be noted that Marie has crazy MP Rejuvenation. But don’t get too attached to
her, she might just leave you in Stage 20 depending on the choices you make…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: OWL ::~~
Gentlemen Bandit
Head of the Wise Bandits, who are based out of Mount Gareh. He claims to be a
"gentleman thief," and he forbids his gang from vicious or cruel behaviour. He
seems to dislike the sea, due to some sort of trauma.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 7 (Requirement = Talk with Marie)
Growth Rate :
Owl level 8 HP 171 MP 21 Atk. 16 Def. 8 Mag. 30 Mov. 7
Owl level 20 HP 229 MP 26 Atk. 19 Def. 13 Mag. 33 Mov. 7
Promotes to :
Rogue -2 Thief & 1 Robber Proof> Cutpurse
“Fine, okay. Can’t we just get along, bro?”
Yogurt’s Comments:
[ 7 / 10 ]
True he has potential, but as much as I love to use this guy his stat growth
just doesn’t cut it. Seriously 1 attack every 4 levels? Sorry Owl you’ll have
to do better. Though when he gets sprint at level 9 while he does become an
awesome mage killer his poor attack leaves me wondering if he can kill a mage
in one shot. I hear after promotion this guy is a sheer beast. But will this
guy REALLY be in your party? With other characters surpassing Owl in every
single stat (Alhambra and Sasha) will Owl really be able to keep up? If you
want to bring him along, his best left killing the mages.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: COTTON ::~~
Travelling Witch
A selfish, irresponsible, and happy-go-lucky witch. A glutton that puts her own
hunger ahead of everything else. Her full name is Nata de Cotton. She came to
Bravord looking for her favourite thing, a delicacy called Willow, but
somewhere along the way, she hit her head and lost her memory.
Recruit :
Joins in Hidden Stage 9 (To obtain Stage 9, save all the civilians in stage 8)
Growth Rate :
Cotton level 6 HP 69 MP 126 Atk. 12 Def. 7 Mag. 52 Mov. 8
Cotton level 20 HP 178 MP 331 Atk. 13 Def.11 Mag. 60 Mov. 8
Promotes to :
Witch -> Cannot Change Class
“Here I go!”
Yogurt’s Comments :
[ 10 / 10 ]
Best. Cameo. Ever. Don’t be afraid of her just because she can’t promote. At
first when you first get her, her 70mp spell (Fire Dragon) combined with her
200mp pool might put you off. Don’t. Cotton easily will become one of your
primary casters coupled with Igraine. Her massive as tank power is enough to
kill anything in one shot, in the 5 stages after you get her, as a level 8 (The
level at which you get her at). That’s serious ownage, coupled with her 8 mov.
She will grow on you as one of the must haves in your party. Although she does
suffer from the bane of all mages and that being her defence. She still has
enough movement to give her manoeuvring space. This easily turns the tables in
most battles. Did I mention spells barely dent her?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: ALHAMBRA ::~~
Sexy Beastwomen
One of the rare beastmen who live in Bravord's deserts. She believes that her
bestial form is due to a curse, and journeys to find a cure for it. She's
usually easygoing, but can't stand it when people talk about her appearance.
Recruit :
Stage 10 ( Requirement = Have Serdic talk to her after she appears )
Growth Rate :
Alhambra level 10 HP 320 MP 18 Atk. 40 Def. 20 Mag. 30 Mov. 8
Alhambra level 20 HP 374 MP 18 Atk. 46 Def. 24 Mag. 31 Mov. 8
Promotes to :
Rogue -2 Thief & 1 Robber Proof> Treasure Hunter
“Enough with this “monster” business! You think I look like this because I want
to?”
Yogurt’s Comment :
[ 9 / 10 ]
Light skin baked to perfection, that’s Alhambra ;). She is a woman not to be
messed with, with ridiculously high attack and movement (after she obtains
sprint it becomes 11, highest in the game). I personally believe that she’s a
fabulous asset to any team. Though cynics may believe otherwise, from their
point of view her defence is too poor to be used as an efficient melee fighter.
Although from my point of view her high hp and curves more than easily make up
for that…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~~:: RUKIA ::~~
Master Thief of Almeria
A tomboy thief who steals for the sake of others, rather than herself. She
encounters the Bretwalde army when she sneaks into the Imperial Army's base.
She has a strong fascination with the holy blade Spanta, and seems set on
acquiring it.
Recruit :
Joins in Stage 11 (Requirement = Have Serdic talk with her)
Growth Rate :
Rukia level 4 HP 103 MP 5 Atk. 10 Def. 7 Mag. 13 Mov. 6
Rukia level 20 HP 173 MP 5 Atk. 13 Def. 10 Mag. 16 Mov. 6
Promotes to :
BackPacker -2 Thief & 1 Robber Proof> Lost Hiker
“Who cares what happens, as long as I can make money off it.”
Yogurt’s Comment :
[ 2 / 10 ]
I think Atlus just put Rukia in to screw you over. You’d think a level 4 you
obtain with difficulty in stage 11 would have TONS of potential, and it’s one
of those characters who truly are a diamond in the rough, oh how wrong you are.
Her stat growth is horrible and apart from Sprint that’s really the only skill
that is remotely useful for a character like Rukia. And that’s only if you’re
running away from the enemy. Not remotely useful, don’t put her in your party
unless you’re a masochist and enjoy getting handicapped.
:::Walkthrough ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: [3.A]
===============================================================================
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 1 - Escape from Egvard
Characters: None
Items: Griffin Ring, Gold Ring, Red Ring, Green Ring, Black Ring
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you first select “New Game” you will be immediately taken to this stage.
After a brief story sequence, you will be plunged into your first battle. You
now have two options. You can either run from most of the enemies and exit in
the southwest corner like the game advises you to do. Or you can get ready for
a TOUGH battle and try to kill all of the enemies (including several bosses who
drop great items). If you choose to go the tough route, skip strategy 1-A and
go straight to 1-B.
1-A: If you just want to run, you should do just that and run. The best way
to get rid of the enemies that start off right next to you is to attack both of
them with Kay and place him right under the left one. And then attack those
two again with Serdic, placing him to the right of Kay. That should kill them
both. If it didn’t kill them, you can attack with Margus and place him right
beneath Serdic. I had trouble with the second enemy always dodging Serdic and
Margus’s attacks. If this continues to happen, I suggest resetting and opening
up a tutorial mission, exiting, and then selecting New Game again. It worked
for me every time (I’m not sure if it was resetting the RNG or what so don’t
ask). When they are dead, two more bandits will come down and the one on the
left will close in but none of them should be able to reach you. Again, hit
them both with Kay and place him just out of the westernmost bandit’s reach and
finish them off with Serdic. Place Margus out of the bandit’s reach as well.
He will close in again but he can’t attack. When it is your turn again, finish
him off. If you need to heal, you can do so by walking through Kay (as long as
he hasn’t moved yet). After the last bandit in the area is dead, you are ready
to start running for you life. Just keep heading southwest towards the golden
arrow as fast as you can. More enemies will appear but you should just ignore
them and run. Feel free to kill any of the bandits in the southwest corner but
all you need to do is try to keep everyone alive and get Serdic to the arrow.
Once you have done that, you have completed the first mission.
1-B: *WARNING* You will probably not get this on your first try. It took me
like 15 tries. If it is too much for you, you can always go the 1-A route.
But if you really want the items, believe me, it can be done. The best way to
get rid of the enemies that start off right next to you is to attack both of
them with Kay and place him right under the left one. And then attack those
two again with Serdic, placing him to the right of Kay. That should kill them
both. If it didn’t kill them, you can attack with Margus and place him right
beneath Serdic. I had trouble with the second enemy always dodging Serdic and
Margus’s attacks. If this continues to happen, I suggest resetting and opening
up a tutorial mission, exiting, and then selecting New Game again. It worked
for me every time (I’m not sure if it was resetting the RNG or what so don’t
ask). When they are dead, two more bandits will come down and the one on the
left will close in but none of them should be able to reach you. Again, hit
them both with Kay and place him just out of the westernmost bandit’s reach and
finish them off with Serdic. Place Margus out of the bandit’s reach as well.
He will close in again but he can’t attack. When it is your turn again, finish
him off and try to position Serdic so that he is as close to the alleyway
between the two houses on the right as possible. If you need to heal, you can
do so by walking through Kay (as long as he hasn’t moved yet). After the last
bandit in the area is dead, you need to prepare for the red knights who are
about to descend upon you. Keep moving Serdic to the edge of the alleyway so
that he is all the way up against the edge. Move Margus and Kay down under the
bottom house and keep them out of the way.
When the knights start to come into the alleyway, don’t panic because they
can’t attack you as long as you have your back against the wall. Once all
three are lined up in front of you, attack all three of them by placing the
arrow behind the last knight. Since they all have the ZOC skill, you will not
pass through the first one. Instead you’ll be bounced back to the same spot.
Continue attacking the knight until he is almost dead. By this time, your OB
gauge will be charged enough to use. Use it on all three of the knights and
the first one will die. Repeat this until they are all dead. You shouldn’t
take any damage except for counterattacks. If you are unlucky, they might
kill you with them but that rarely happens, if ever. You might need to
bring in Kay and Margus to kill the last knight if Serdic didn’t bounce back
on his last attack. But try to avoid this if possible.
Once all three are dead, it is time to move up to Alberich. Only hit him
with Serdic, passing through Kay each time for healing. Continue to pummel
him with Serdic until he is dead. However, if he says he is going to join
the hunt at the beginning of a player phase, make sure to kill him before
his turn comes around. But also make sure that it is Serdic who finishes
him. Once he is dead, start moving down to the southeastern gate (slowly).
Once you get to the grass, a new set of enemies will appear. When they do,
rush Serdic back to his position where he fought the first three red knights.
Kay and Margus should go up in the top right corner and stay there. When
they line up in the alley, use the same strategy as you did for the first
three knights. You might not always have a full OB gauge to finish off each
knight. If you don’t, you’ll need to rely on luck to bounce you back to the
right instead of left. If you go left, you’ll most likely be dead quite
quickly. This is where it can go wrong simply due to bad luck. If that
happens, you will just have to start over like I did.
When all six of those knights are dead, heal up and if your OB gauge is at 1,
2, or 3, start moving to the southeast gate again. Position Serdic three
squares to the left of Clotho and use your OB (which has a range of five so it
will get both Clotho and Matthias). If the OB gauge was at 2, Clotho probably
died. If not, she will still be alive but that is ok. You need to go north
again and slowly head west (one square at a time) with Serdic. Eventually, you
will trigger some mages, red knights, and Ernest to appears. STAY RIGHT WHERE
YOU ARE. Put Kay directly behind Serdic. With him there, the mages will not
come within range. As long as Kay is seven squares away, the mages will not
come any closer. This is how you are going to draw their magic, heal, and
repeat until they are out of MP. Each mage has 125 MP and they can cast two
kinds of spells. One has a range of six and will do roughly 120-140 to Serdic
and Margus. The other can hit anyone in a diagonal path from them. In short,
don’t let that happen. Keep everyone out of the diagonal paths of all mages.
If you stay where I said to stay earlier, you should be fine. I never had to
move Kay from his original spot behind Serdic the whole time I was draining the
mages. Just make sure that only one mage can hit Serdic or Margus as you place
them in the line of fire. If more than one mage is within 6 spaces of them,
they WILL cast a spell on that character. So you just need to be careful.
Draw fire, retreat through Kay to heal until they can take another hit and
repeat until each mage only has 5 MP left. The main spell they cast costs 30 MP
so each mage will be able to cast four times.
When they are out of MP, you can start heading back to the southeast gate. The
mages will follow. When you are far enough east, kill one of the mages with
Serdic so that his OB gauge fills again. Any time it is up to 1, go back down
to the same spot and use it on Clotho/Mathias. Even if Clotho is dead, use the
same spot to hit Matthias and retreat to kill more mages to charge your OB
gauge. If you’ve killed all the mages, you can move further southwest and
start taking out the bandits. Do not step on the yellow arrow or you will exit
the stage. Return to hit Matthias each time your gauge fills until he is dead.
Once he is dead, use your OB attacks on Gauss. Be sure you don’t kill him or
you will advance to stage two.
When only Gauss, Ernest, and the two red knights remain, position Serdic five
squares under the left red knight and put Kay right below Serdic. Ernest will
cast a powerful spell on him but he won’t die if he is at full HP. Retreat
through Kay and heal until he can stand another hit. Repeat this until he is
out of MP. Once he stops casting on Serdic, move Serdic four squares under the
left red knight and put Kay right below Serdic again. This will draw the
knight out but he can’t attack. Continue to safely lure him out and kill him
with Serdic (don’t forget to hit Gauss any time you fill up your OB but don’t
kill him). When he is dead, it is time to take out the other red knight. Use
the same strategy as the left one. Lure him out and kill him with Serdic. Now
it is time to take out Ernest. Without his magic, he is weak. I suggest
putting Margus in his range so that Ernest will attack him. Once he does, move
Margus straight up through him and up towards the top. Then move Serdic
through him and to the left in the alley between the two houses. He should
almost be dead now. If he only needs one more hit, finish him with Serdic. If
he needs two, hit him with Margus first and then Serdic.
With Ernest dead, all you need to do is finish Gauss. If Serdic has 0 OB,
don’t panic. You can finish him with regular attacks from Margus. Just slowly
move him in range and attack. Then rush out of there and heal if necessary and
go back in again. Do not rest needlessly within Gauss’s range. If you do, he
will kill you. Just keep doing this until he is dead. When he is finally
dead, some mounted units will appear just to scare the crap out of you. You
don’t have to fight them. Serdic will realize that there is no choice but to
flee. And with that, you will have completed a very, very difficult first
battle. You will be taken to the results screen and it will show you how much
money you earned, the items you won for completing the battle and in future
chapters, it will show you the results of your errands. But you don’t need to
worry about those until after stage 5. Your Serdic should be around level
19-20. The drops from the bosses are as follows:
Gauss: Griffin Ring (ATK and MC + 10)
Mathias: Gold Ring (HP +)
Clotho: Red Ring (Critical +)
Ernest: Green Ring (Mag + 10)
Alberich: Black Ring (Mov + 1)
~-~Stage 2 - Bandits of Gareh~-~
Characters: Selmer joins automatically.
Items: None
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This stage will be fairly easy compared to the last stage (especially if you
killed everyone). Just proceed cautiously to the north, killing the bandits
along the way. Selmer will join you as a computer-controlled character and she
will take out a bandit or two on her own. Kill all of the bandits to complete
this easy stage. If you are having trouble, just kill bandits with each
character to gain Exp and select Quit from the menu. You can retry the battle
and keep the Exp or you can even go back to the camp screen and re-equip
people, assign skill points and save.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~-~Stage 3 - A Kidnapping~-~
Characters: Sasha joins automatically.
Items: None
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is another easy stage. Move north killing as any enemies as you wish
until you get to the yellow arrow. Once you land on it, the scene will change
and many enemies will be in the northwest corner. You do not have to fight
ANY of them. And I suggest that you don’t. Just head back south the way you
came and get everyone to the yellow arrow. That is all there is to this easy
mission.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~-~Stage 4 - The Deep Forest~-~
Characters: Sasha joins automatically.
Items: None
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is yet another easy stage. Move north, killing anything in your path.
Beware of the archers and their long range. It is best to draw their attacks
with Serdic and let Sasha or Selmer finish them off. I suggest letting Sasha
get as many kills as possible so that she can level up (kill enemies and
retreat if you wish to get even more exp for Sasha). Once all the enemies are
beaten you can proceed to the next stage.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~-~Stage 5 - Reunion~-~
Characters: Marie joins when you talk to her with anyone. Ansom joins when
you talk to him with anyone.
Items: Coral Amulet (In southwest corner on the empty cell)
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Send Serdic and Sasha to the left to kill the enemies that come towards you.
Send Margus, Kay and Selmer right towards the cells. Once the enemies on the
left stop coming, send Serdic and Sasha to the right with everyone else. Make
sure you go into every cell as quickly as possible. The empty cell has a
Coral Amulet in the bottom left corner. Marie is waiting in the middle cell
(talk to her with anyone and she’ll join the fight). Ansom is in the right
cell (talk to him with anyone and he’ll join the fight). Fend off the regular
enemies coming from the northeast with Serdic/Margus/Kay/Sasha. Try to get
Serdic’s OB up to level 2 at least. When Jaglat comes around, hit him with
Serdic’s OB. If that doesn’t finish him, hit him with Margus/Kay/Sasha or
possibly a spell from Selmer if he can reach. But be sure to only kill him
after you’ve gotten everything from all the cells because you won’t get another
chance
Note. Errands can be accessed in the Errands Menu and then Quests Menu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is your first mission that gives you the option of sending people on
errands. You’re going to want to send people on the Smith quests, the Card
quests and the Item quests as much as possible. I will make recommendations
for whom to send but you need to be consistently following them or ignoring
them. It won’t help much if a different person goes on the card quest each
time. A character only benefits from them if they go 3 times. Some also get
another bonus for their 6 visit. The character bonuses for the card quests are
outlined in the errand section. I suggest getting Ansom up to 6 card quests as
soon as you can because he gets awesome bonuses. When Ansom is going on
missions to get extra items, I am going to send Selmer on card quests until he
has done 3 of them. You can pick whoever you want but just be consistent and
plan ahead. Smith quests are more flexible. You can vary them up if you want
but repeated visits yield the most noticeable results. Sasha will get the most
from the smith quests out of the early characters. So aside from the first one
where I sent Margus because I wanted Sasha in battle, Sasha is going to go on
most of my smith quests.
You can try to kill Cloth in this battle because she drops a Robber Proof but I
just completed the objective by running away and keeping everyone alive. When
I update this on my New Game + playthrough, I’ll provide a strategy for beating
her.
Send Sasha straight up first and then send Serdic up and one to the left. Then
send Kay as far up as he can go. Also send Selmer up just to the left of the
tree. Four enemies will pile up in front of Kay. Hit the furthest one up with
Selmer’s White Dust spell if you have it. Hit the other three with Sasha and
leave her to the right. Hit all for of them with Kay and put him off to the
right as well. Then go up and left with Serdic and hit two of the three
enemies on the left side. Once they are finished, retreat as quickly as
possible down to where you started. The next turn, Clotho and her comrades
will start charging down at you (watch out, she has a huge range and so do her
friends). Your objective now is to get out through the yellow arrow. I would
recommend not letting any of the townspeople die, if you can help it. You
should be able to get out before anyone hurts you.
Archer’s Festival (I recommend sending Ansom for this one)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since Ansom has been on errands for the last few missions, I suggest letting
him get a few kills in this battle and then retreating before sending him on an
errand. This way he’ll get the best of both worlds. It would also be wise to
let Marie get some heals in before you retreat. Repeat this as many times as
necessary to catch Ansom and Marie up to the rest of the team.
This mission is ALL about getting Marie to talk to Owl as soon as possible. I
found a way to get that to happen in a few turns (if it works perfectly, it
happens on turn two). Move Margus as far out to the east as possible (as long
as he has ZOC). Then move Kay two spaces to his left and Serdic one more space
to the left and finally put Marie one space to the left of Serdic. This will
draw all enemies toward Margus and hopefully Owl will bounce to the left when
he hits Margus (due to ZOC). If this happens, you can move Marie straight up
to Owl and talk to him. Once you do this, he joins your cause and all of his
soldiers join as well.
If you manage this, you can take the safe route and run to the exits or you can
stay and fight. It is up to you. Running will be easy and shouldn’t cause you
any problems. Just make sure to keep Marie out of everyone’s range. One hit
and she’s toast. Fighting can be very tricky. Half of the non-player
characters (Owl’s men) will help take care of the enemies in the south. If you
can take them out quickly, you may be able to handle the men from the west with
the other half but it can still be tough (but doable). So, if you are
satisfied with your party’s levels, I suggest running away because it may be a
while before you get Marie up to Owl again so easily.
The Arena King (Only send someone if you think you can finish the next stage
with 5 characters. I sent Marie.)
Prize: Battle Proof, Raka’s Juice, Tiny Bullion
Rank: 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are going for hidden stage 9 (by not letting any civilians die) like I
did, you first need to make a choice. You need to decide whether or not you
want to take 6 characters and miss a good quest or if you want to take 5
characters and do 3 of the 4 quests. I took 5 people (Serdic, Kay, Margus,
Selmer, and Owl). I started out by sending Serdic and Kay straight down the
middle. I sent Selmer and Owl down the middle but started heading them to the
left. Margus went down the far right side by himself since he has ZOC and can
take some serious damage all by himself. The next turn, cast Knight’s Codex
(raise Momentum Counter) on Serdic and Kay. This should draw most of the
pirate’s attention. Keep moving Owl to the left and move Selmer close enough
to cast White Dust on the pirates on the southwest next turn but make sure to
keep her safe. Have Margus hit as many of the eastern pirates as possible
(killing the northernmost ones first).
On turn three, have Serdic and Kay start working on the pirates bunched up
around them. Owl should be able to hit three or four pirates and stay high
enough to keep their attention. Hit the northernmost one with White Dust with
Selmer. If everyone survives the enemy’s attacks this round, you should be
able to complete this with no casualties. If Owl dies from the pirate’s
attacks, you may need to level him up a few levels first. Otherwise, just keep
Serdic and/or Kay healed by passing through each other and hitting pirates.
Margus should be hitting as many as he can and drawing as many attacks as he
can. Finish off the pirates on the left with Owl and Selmer and the southeast
ones with Serdic, Kay, and Margus and you’re done! You have now unlocked the
hidden stage 9 and also managed to complete the three quests.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This battle is all about Ansom. Just slowly move him upwards and kill the
first six enemies. Then move Serdic up to draw the archer’s fire and hit the
archer with Ansom, healing either character with Marie when necessary. Repeat
this for the rest of the stage, using Serdic or Ansom’s OB if possible. If you
have Sprint with Owl (first gets it at level 9), he will be able to get some
hits in and get out of there quickly which is helpful. If you have the time,
wait until there is only one enemy left and send someone (probably Owl) up to
the top left house to get the Bullion in the crate to the right of the house.
Finish the last enemy off, preventing any casualties and you will have unlocked
the awesome Cotton. Ansom should have gained quite a few levels during this
battle, which is quite nice.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the first battle where you have three characters leftover after picking
6 for battle. I suggest only taking 5 people into battle (Serdic, Kay, Selmer,
Cotton, and Owl) and send three on quests. Send the fourth reserve (for me it
was Margus) to Training. I sent him to general training to get bonuses for
Atk, Def, and HP. I would also take the time to grind several levels out of
Cotton on this stage. Her Fire Dragon spell will kill the enemies in one hit.
And she can cast it twice after gaining one level. I recommend getting her to
level 10 and then retreating and saving. Then you can beat the whole level by
drawing things out with Serdic, casting Fire Dragon with Cotton, and using her
OB (which fills up to 3 in two hits) to refill her MP. You can kill every
single enemy without Cotton getting hit once and Serdic only takes one or two
hits. If you want to do this, you can send everyone but Serdic and Cotton on
training missions but you don’t have to. To do this, just move Cotton five
spaces in front of an enemy and cast Fire Dragon on them to kill them in one
hit. Then use her OB whenever the gauge gets to 3. This way, her MP will
always stay at full and you won’t even have to use MP restoring items. I would
give her one Moon Dew just in case but you probably won’t need it. Now finish
everyone off except the three Desert Savages in the northwest corner (you can
hit each of them from the other side of the mountain and they won’t move).
Leave one of them alive and then go hide to the right of the trees and pick off
the mounted units (they won’t move either) with Cotton. They will drop a
Captain Proof and a Battle Proof. Now go and kill the last Savage and you will
have won the stage and Cotton should be around level 17-19.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to unlock Rukia in this battle, you’re going to need to hurry. I
used Serdic, Ansom, Cotton, Kay, Margus, and Owl. Take care of the first two
enemies on the first turn using Kay, Owl, Margus, Serdic and Ansom. Start
having Owl head northeast. On Serdic’s second turn, cast Knight’s Codex with
him so that when he goes around the castle walls, the archers will target him.
Now send everyone except for Cotton around the VERY edge of the southeast
castle wall. They need to be right next to it so that their move will be
enough for them to get up to the entrance on the right in time. Just make sure
to pass Serdic through Kay whenever possible to heal the hits from the archer.
As long as his MC is the highest, the archers should target him and ignore
Kay, Margus, Ansom and Owl as they move up the wall. Ansom should be killing
the archers as you go. Meawhile, Cotton should be casting fire dragon on the
knights that are directly behind the front gate. If she is targeting the two
in the middle, she will be able to hit them and no one can hit her. If she is
going for either one on the outside, the archers will be able to hit her so be
careful.
Soon, reinforcements will arrive from the south. As soon as that happens,
start moving Cotton around the outside of the castle immediately! She can
follow the same path that the others took and hopefully the archers are dead.
Some of the mounted reinforcements will follow her but they won’t be able to
catch her because she has a move of 8. Your units in the northeast just need to
be ready to take care of the mounted units when they get up there. And make
sure Serdic talks to Rukia before she dies. If your guys moved up there
quickly, she shouldn’t be in any danger until after you talk to her. It is
pretty much smooth sailing from here. Ansom can pick off almost everybody left
in this stage. Everyone else can get hits in too. Just proceed however you
wish. But make sure the Guardian doesn’t get to hit any of your weaker units.
Lure him out with Margus and you’ll be fine. Once everyone is defeated, this
mission is over.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is kind of an easy mission and you can go about it many different ways.
The first thing I did was train Rukia to level 14 by having her go north and
hit the two mages and then hitting them again next turn. Then she can go back
south and Marie can heal her. You can also send her further out to hit other
mages and bring her back with Marie’s Teleport skill. With this method, she
should be at least level 10 in no time.
As for the actual mission, I found that characters with good MOV stats are
helpful. Rukia and Owl both have great MOV if you level up their Sprint skill
(which you definitely should). Cotton is also another helpful person to have
because her MOV is high and her magic is very strong. Just be careful and pick
off the mages 1-2 at a time. Wait for Elmer to come to you and have someone
with an MC higher than Selmer’s go up to him. Have Selmer not far behind.
Then he’ll hit the high MC character and next turn you can talk to him with
Selmer. He will join his twin’s side and then you can proceed to kill
everything or just run north with Serdic to escape. Either way, you shouldn’t
run into much trouble.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a great battle to level everyone up (and I mean EVERYONE). I got
everyone up to at least level 14 in this battle. It isn’t essential that you
do this but I like to have everyone around the same level. The three
characters on the bottom left don’t ever move in the first three turns or so.
You can send people left quickly and hit them a couple times to kill them.
This is why it is a great stage to level up on. Characters with a low MOV
(such as Elmer and Selmer) should wait for a few northern enemies to come south
so they can pick them off.
When you’re ready to proceed, I suggest taking Serdic, Marie, Owl, Margus,
Cotton and Elmer/Selmer. Send Owl to the left and take out the bottom three
characters and carefully work you way up. It is best to keep him in range of
Marie’s Teleport skill in case he runs into trouble. Send Margus to the east
to draw out the enemies while Serdic and Cotton take them out. Cotton is the
best for taking out the mages. Put her in range of ONE mage at a time. She
will take one hit and then next turn she can kill them and fill her OB gauge
up. Then she can heal herself and fill up her MP. Continue using Cotton and
Owl/Marie to take out mages until only Ernest and the knights remain. Put
Serdic in the range of Ernest’s magic. Let him get hit and heal him with
Marie. Repeat this until he is out of MP. Then take out the knights with
Cotton and you can dispose of the magicless Ernest however you want.
In this stage, I took mostly spellcasters. I used Serdic, Rukia, Elmer, Selmer,
Arios and Marie. I sent a spellcaster up each side. They’d each take one hit
and then kill the mages. Marie should heal for two turns. Then repeat this
until all of the mages are dead. When they’re all gone, you can dispose of the
knights with long range spells too. When you’ve done that, make sure Marie HAS
NOT gone yet and that she is at least 6 squares south of Serdic. Now it is
safe to rush Serdic up ABOVE Igraine. There is a Sage Proof in the top/center
of the map behind the alter. After you get that, it is safe to talk to her.
When he talks to her, several knights will appear right above you. This is why
you have Marie ready to cast Holy Favor and teleport him to safety. Now all
you need to do is have everyone run south which should be very easy. That ends
this easy mission.
I selected (in this exact order) Serdic, Kay, Ansom, Marie, Margus, and Cotton
for my team. This battle is really simple if you put them on your team in that
order. On turn 1, move Serdic as far south as you can. Then have Marie
teleport him using Holy Favor. Have Ansom start picking off mages and move
Margus a little south when the enemies start coming up. Use Marie to heal
Margus and Serdic and have Cotton hit the south enemies with strong fire magic.
That’s pretty much all there is to it. Have Serdic talk with Shino to recruit
her. Once you do, the northern enemies will charge down quickly. Rush
everyone to the southern exit and you’ll be fine.
The strategy all depends on who you want to kill: Ernest or Alberich. I
decided to kill Alberich for his South Medal (Atk +20, Def -20) instead of
Ernest who drops the Lazuli Ring (Mag+6). Either way, you’re going to want to
give Margus some healing items, equip him with some strong defensive items and
the Gold Ring and Black Ring, if you have them. Immediately send him up to the
northern bridge and put him right at the mouth of it. The knights will come
down and Margus’s ZOC will stop them.
You can then use Cotton or Shino to clear them out and pick Ernest off with
Ansom and Shino, among others.
Or you can send everyone else but Margus south to meet Alberich. Ansom, Kay
and Shino should be able to take him out in one round. Serdic and your sixth
member can help if you need them to. When I fought this battle, I got a
Complete Victory and the only enemy I killed was Alberich.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first thing you should do is send Serdic to the right and put him in front
of the door (it should take three turns to get there because of the snow) and
he will recruit Aegil. The strategy for the rest of this long, long battle is
pretty much the same throughout. Just group your characters together in tight
groups just outside of the enemey's range. Then put one strong character
slightly in enemy range (Serdic or Margus work great). When the enemies come
down to hit him, hit the enemies hard with everyone you had, trying to keep
them out of the range of other enemies. Heal up with Marie or the Will or War
skill and repeat. Once you get close to reaching the gate, six mounted units
will appear (three from the east, three from the west). It is in your best
interest to get Serdic up to the northen Cathedral gate immediately. I used
Cotton to clear out one of the knights blocking the gate and Serdic just ran up
and Aegil helped him through the door.
Characters: Yuminluna and Simon are unlocked automatically when you open their
Unlock hidden Stage 19 by talking to Yumiluna with Serdic.
Errands: None
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have six turns to get to Yumiluna and Simon's cell door. If you don't get
there in time, they are gone forever. I suggest using characters with high
Mov stats. I took Serdic, Owl, Cotton, Ansom, Sasha and Kay. Make sure you
have points into Owl's Sprint skill so his Mov is at least 9. I had his move
at 10 and then I gave Serdic the black ring so that he can try to keep up with
Owl. He needs to be able to talk to Yumiluna soon after Owl opens the gate
because the archers might kill her. Just go north and east as quickly as
possible. Use Ansom to weaken (or kill) enemies while Owl blows past them.
Move everyone up in their tracks and take out enemies as they appear. Place
Cotton on the east wall of their cell and start killing the archers with Fire
Dragon. Knights will be coming up from the south. Use Cotton to kill them as
the come up. Once you free the prisoners and clear out the archers in the
area, start moving either northeast or northwest up to Uther. Do not forget to
send someone to pick up the Pure Amulet in the northeast area of the red carpet
where Uther was originally standing. Use Ansom, Cotton, and whoever you want
to kill Uther. It only took one shot from Ansom for me but you may need
someone to finish him off after Ansom hits him.
If you talked to Yumiluna with Serdic, you will be taken to the underground
prison where Alberich is being held. You might also notice that the awesome
Kunoichi Izuna is guarding his cell. This is probably the easiest battle in
the game. Just take Serdic, Shino, and four of your favorite characters.
Clear out the Devotees however you wish but make sure you talk to Izuna with
Shino instead of killing her. Watch out for Izuna before you recuit her
because her attack is very high and she can one-hit-KO many of your characters.
You can open Alberich's cell with Serdic and talk to him. Serdic will free
him for letting the prisoners go. Once you kill the rest of the enemies, you
will be taken to the next chapter.
You need to decide whether or not you want to go down Path A or Path B. Your
actions in this chapter decide which path you follow. There are some SLIGHT
spoilers below that you will need to read when deciding which path to choose.
Don't worry, you'll find out what they are in about 8 seconds either way.
***MINOR SPOILER WARNING***
To choose Path A, do not kill Marie and wait for 4 turns. If you choose this
path, you will not kill Marie (obviously) and Serdic will eventually become an
Arch Paladin. The Arch Paladin has more offensive skills. You will also be
able to recruit Alicia later on.
To choose Path B, kill Marie. If you choose this path, Marie will be dead (you
can never use her again, obviously) and Serdic will eventually become a Cold
Emperor. The Cold Emperor has more defensive skills (such as ZOC) and is
probably the stronger of the two. You will also be able to recruit Naji later
on.
Both paths allow you recruit Galahad and Alberich.
***END MINOR SPOILERS***
Choose which path you want and act accordingly. If you choose Path A, proceed
to section [3.D]. If you choose Path B, proceed to section [3.E]
For this battle, you'll want to take at least one tank (I used Serdic but you
can also use Margus if you want). Use your tank to draw out the mounted units
in the south by putting them in their range (only put him in the range of a few
enemies. When they come up to attack, hit them hard with strong units and
magic. Make sure you bring a healer or several people with Will of War because
your tank character will take a lot of hits. Ansom also works well. You can
use him to snipe people and then pull him back with teleporation (the Holy
Favor skill). You can kill as many people as you want with this method. But
try to let other people get some kills too. I took out all of the enemies in
the south. Then I went northwest and took the small bridge back south. Clear
out the enemies and make your way down to the mounted unit. You can hit him
from afar with Ansom or a mage or close in on him with some stronger units
(Serdic, Margus, Izuna, etc). Once you kill him, the mission will be over.
You only get to bring three allies with you (and you can't take Serdic). I
suggest taking units with high Mov and attack ranges (such as Ansom, Alhambra,
and Shino). The original objective is to escape at the yellow arrows. But
don't just run towards them as fast as you can. Once you get near them, you
will probably be spotted and the enemies will call for reinforcements. When
they call the reinforcements, the new objective will be to kill all enemies.
This would be insanely easy with a team of six. But it is still pretty easy
with a team of three. Just take out the enemies in small groups and once
they're all dead, the mission will end.
Make sure you take either Margus or Kay along so that you can recruit Alicia.
I used Serdic, Margus, Yumiluna, Cotton, Ansom, and Alhambra. On my first
turn, I made Serdic stand next to Margus and I told him to go to Cale after
this battle so that I could recruit Alicia in the next battle. I sent Serdic,
Margus, Yumiluna, and Cotton down the right path and I sent Alhambra and Ansom
down the left. I let Ansom get a lot of kills until his OB gauge was at 3.
Margus, Serdic and Cotton should have no trouble disposing of the enemies on
the right side. Once the enemies on the left side are all gone, I started
moving Ansom and Alhambra southeast towards the boss. I lured him out in line
of Ansom and used Ansom's OB level 3 (which killed him in one hit for me). If
it doesn't kill him, you can use Alhambra to finish him off. You can try to
kill all of the other enemies if you want but that is risky and it will make it
harder to get a Complete Victory. I suggest killing Tesserarius as quickly as
possible. Once you take care of him, you will move on to the next stage.
So far, this is without a doubt the best stage to level up your troops. You can
really go as high as you want (unless you want to go much higher than level
30). I suggest spending a bit of time here leveling up any members that have
started to fall behind. Then there are a couple of ways to fight this battle.
The easiest was is to make sure Ansom has Sprint, give him a bunch of items
that increase attack (Griffin Ring, South Medal, Copper Rings) and have him
move up on the first turn and snipe the boss. If he can't kill him in one hit
(mine did), then you can teleport him back using Marie or Yumiluna. Wait one
turn and have him repeat on turn two. Tessarius will die and the battle will
be over. You will most likely have gotten a Complete Victory. The second way
is a little tricker. You need some people who can absorb hits (like Margus,
Serdic, and Simon). Have them absorb all of the hits, if possible. Heal them
with Marie, pick some of them off with Ansom and any mage you brought
(preferably Cotton). Now use your tanks to hit the enemies hard and position
them so the enemies hit them instead of your weaker units. After a few turns,
their ranks should be wearing thin. If you feel like you are about to be
overwhelmed, you can have Ansom go up and hit Tessarius a couple of times to
end the battle. However you choose to do it, just remember that killing
Tessarius ends the battle. Once you do that, you can move on to Stage 26.
This is another battle you can fight the long way or the short way. The short
way is to take your troops east immediately. Have them clear out enemies along
the way and then start heading south towards Clotho once they get all the way
east. You can kill a few more enemies on your way south and then Ansom (or
anyone with a long range) can head down and kill Clotho. This should get you a
Complete Victory. If you want to do this the long way, head south right away.
Take out the enemies along the way and then start heading east. The enemies
in the middle will come after you. Clear them out along your eastern path and
make your way to Clotho. You can try to kill everyone on the map but I suggest
killing Clotho as soon as you have the chance. Once she is gone, the battle
will end and you'll move on to the next stage.
Your character selection is pretty much cut in half for this battle. Once
everyone finds out about Serdic's little "secret," about half of them leave
Shino, Cotton, Marie, and Alhambra for this battle. All you need to do is take
it slowly. Then enemies will come up to you in small groups. You should
easily be able to take them out in a round or two. Heal up before moving on
and then repeat for the next group. The battle is over when Serdic reaches the
After the first turn, Yumiluna, Simon, and Aegil will join you as Non-Player
This battle is a lot like the last one. Slowly advance east and the enemies
will come to you. You should be more than strong enough to take them out.
Continue east until you'v cleared out all enemies or Serdic reaches the yellow
arrow. After the battle, you will be rejoined with most of your troops (except
Margus, Kay, Sasha, Ansom, and Alicia).
In this battle, Sasha and Ansom will join your team as non-player characters on
the second turn. Alicia, Kay, and Margus will join as non-player characters on
the third turn. Most of your old comrades will end up getting themselves
killed by attacking recklessly. Don't worry about it. I suggest bringing one
healer and keeping them towards the center of the map. Start by moving your
stong melee characters northwest to take out the first group of enemies. After
you do that, the enemies from the north will come down. Take care of them and
heal up. Start slowly moving north, luring more enemies out. Alberich may
come down to meet your team. If he does, you can talk to him with Serdic (or
just let him run right back up where he came from). Carefully take them out
and work your way up to Matthias. Once you have talked to Alberich with
Serdic, you can kill Matthias however you wish (he's pretty weak). Three
reinforcement knights will appear at the very top of the map if you make it up
to the top and you don't kill Matthias. They keep spawning once you kill them
until Matthias is defeated. Once he's gone, the battle is over.
This battle is going to pretty tough. And it will decide whether or not you
get the good ending or not. To get the good ending, kill Serdic with Altrius
(your team leader). To get the bad ending, kill him with anyone else. The
quicker you work in this battle, the better. Tons of enemies ar going to come
in from both the eastern and western doors (three through each door at a time).
If you wait long, the area will be swarming with enemy troops and they will
take you down in a hurry. I found the best thing to do is a bring Altrius, a
tank (Margus), a healer, Ansom and two heavy hitters (I used Izuna and
Alhambra). Let Margus absorb the hits and take out as many enemies as you can
with everyone else. Keep moving up, taking the mages out with Ansom. Do your
best to charge Altrius's OB gauge (let him kill people). Get him and Ansom up
to Serdic as quickly as possible. Hit him first with Ansom (Hopefully he won't
kill him. If he does, you need to give him the North Medal to take his attack
down). Once Serdic is weakened, hit him with Serdic's OB to end the battle.
This should get you an Overwhelming or Complete Victory. It took me several
tries to get Serdic in position without any casualties but after a while, I
managed to do it. If necessary, give him tons of defensive equipment. If you
killed Serdic with Altrius (good ending), go to section [3.D]. If you killed
Serdic with anyon else (bad ending), go to section [3.E].
This battle sucks because the area right next to the fire/lava reduces your
move to almost nothing. It is important to stay away from it (as well as the
mage's long spell range) as much as possible by sticking to the western wall in
the very beginning. Just keep moving up slowly (be patient and don't let your
members get split by differences in their Mov stats). Ansom is very helpful
(as always) in clearing out a path for your weaker units. Once you get to the
northeast/southeast fork, I suggest going southeast as you stand to gain
nothing. Be careful of the guys waiting for you in the south. They have huge
ranges and they dodge attacks fairly often. Just keep pushing eastward until
This battle is almost like a maze. There are several different paths you can
take. I went west, north, east, north, east, and south to the stairs. The
enemies in this battle are strong and many of them have ZOC so you need to
bring your strongest team members. People like Owl and Rukia aren't gonna cut
it for this mission. Altrius, Margus, Kay, Alberich, Alhambra and either Ansom
or a healer would make a fine team for this battle. Otherwise, there isn't
If you're anything like me, you're going to hate this battle. The mages killed
several of my people that I didn't want Hurt for the next battle so I restarted
this mission a couple of times (including one Game Over). Th trick is to make
sure you never get in the diagonal path (any distance) of any of the mages or
they will fry your ass. Ansom is pretty much mandatory to beat this without
any casualties. Have him snipe the mages and weaken/kill the nights along the
way. Don't forget to get the wrath medal from the island right below the
northeast island in the corner. This is the one right above your starting
place. Once you have that, make you way to Ernest (watching for the diagonal
range of the mages). Once Ansom is within striking distance of Ernest, send
him up to kill him. If he doesn't kill him, hit him again with someone like
Shino, a mage or pull Ansom back with a teleportation skill. Repeat this as
necessary to take him out and proceed to the final battle.
This battle can be tough and it is (once again) made much easier with Ansom.
One the first turn, have him go either right or left and kill one of the mages.
Move your strong characters up a space or two to lure the knights down. On
the next turn, have Ansom kill another mage. Keep doing this to work your way
north towards Mephreyu. Alberich's OB can also be very helpful in this battle.
I used it to help clear out the enemies guarding Mephreyu at the top. I used
Cotton to kill the sniper that keeps respawning and Serdic/Margus to kill the
Elite Linesman that respawn on each side of the stage. While those three are
taking care of that, Marie, Ansom and Alberich should work on Meprheyu. I had
Ansom run up and hit Mephreyu to wear down his MP (your attacks must deplete
his MP before they start to wear down his HP), and then I used Marie to
teleport him back to safety. His MP regenerates each turn so you need to be
quick. If Alberich has his OB gauge charged, wait until Ansom has worn
Mephreyu's MP down to zero and unleash it upon him from afar. If that doesn't
kill him, you can finish him off with Ansom or Cotton. No matter what strategy
you use, this battle is a bit difficult and it may take you several tries to
complete it. But once you do, you will have beaten the game and you'll be
ready to start a New Game +! Just save your game after the credits and when
you load it, you will be at the first battle again with a level 1 Serdic,
:::Errands ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::[5.A]
===============================================================================
Between each stage, you will be taken to the camp screen. Here, you can form
your team, equip them with accessories, save/load, and send inactive members on
"Errands." Hurt characters cannot be sent on errands. The different errands
are Quests, Train, Shop, and Trials. Quests offer healing items, smith (weapon
bonuses), card bonuses, and proofs. Trails improve your characters in a single
stat (Focused) or three stats to a lesser extent (General). Characters can
only be sent on a certain number of smith/card quests.
===============================================================================
:::Smith Quests::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::[5.B]
===============================================================================
The number of times each character can be sent on a smith/card quest and the
bonuses received are outlined below. The smith quest is always the second one
down in the "Quests" section.
:::Card Quests:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::[5.C]
===============================================================================
This is a list of the bonuses received from card quests. Most characters get a
bonus after three visits. Then they get another bonus after three more (total
of six) visits. Some characters only get one bonuses and they do not get it
until after their sixth visit. And in case you were wondering, the card quest
is always the third one down in the "Quests" section and the name of it always
ends in "Tale."
