1. Introduction
=========================================================================
This Script is a compilation of conversations between characters in a game
called Rondo of Swords. Rondo of Swords is a turn-based stratedgy RPG, using
a new innovative system, where instead of moving up to an enemy to attack
them, you run through enemies to damage them. For more information, refer
to the other FAQ here.

What are Character Conversations?
Character Conversations, also known as Dialogue Events, are conversations
between two characters placed beside each other. They give a much need
character background, foreshadowing and the such. Some are more obvious
than others, such as Margus and practically all the females in the party,
while some are not so obvious.

How do you initiate a conversation?
The most basic way of initiating a conversation, is to place a character
beside another, though sometimes there will be restrictions which will
be explained with notes at the bottom of a stage.

Note: This is NOT a walkthrough for the game
Also, if you find any errors please e-mail me, where my e-mail is at the top,
replace the (dot) with a (.) and a (at) with a (@). Please put Rondo of Swords
as the title of the e-mail, else it'll most likely be ignored.
..questions about the game, walkthrough-wise, will be ignored, unless I feel
compelled to reply

2. Character Conversation Script
=========================================================================
*There will be SPOILERS, if you don't wish to be spoiled, don't read further
than where you are*

Dialogues will be sorted by Stages, if your not sure which stage your on, it's
the stage that is right after the one listed on the save screen.
Also if there are asterisks besides a set of names, than there will be notes at
the bottom of the stage to explain the restrictions to initiate the
conversation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 1 - Escape from Egvard
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Kay + Serdic>
Kay: Egvard may have seen better days, but I'm glad to see you safe,
        Prince Serdic.
Serdic: But the Empire has claimed the lives of many of our own...
Kay: Bretwalde can never truly fall as long as you live, Your Highness.
So please, don't do anything rash.
Serdic: ... You're right. For the sake of the fallen...

<Margus + Serdic>
Margus: We don't know how far the enemy has advanced. Please be cautions,
        Prince Serdic.
Serdic: Yes... thank you, Margus.
Margus: It's a true relief to see you safe and sound, Your Highness.
After all, if we lost you, Princess Marie would cry...
And making a woman cry is against my personal code.
Serdic: Marie, eh...?
Margus: Yes. I hope that the Princess is all right.
Serdic: As do I...

<Kay + Margus>
  Kay: Hey, Margus...
Margus: What's the matter, Kay?
Kay: Isn't the timing of this whole thing a little TOO perfect?
Margus: True enough.
Coming in the middle of the King's funeral, after he finally
        succumbed...
Kay: The only explanation I can think of is that they were already
        prepared... Could they have...?
Margus: It's possible. But that line of thinking won't do any good now.
We have to focus on protecting Prince Serdic.
Kay: Right. If we don't get him out safe, we'll never know the
        touch of a woman again...
Margus: Exactly!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 2 - Bandits of Gareh
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Margus + Kay>
Margus: The Wise Bandits, eh?
Kay: Have you heard of them, Margus?
Margus: Yeah. They're hoodlums who work out of the Gareh Mountains.
They claim to be "gentleman thieves."
Kay: Gentleman thieves, huh? Yet they raid villages...
Margus: I've heard their boss frowns on that kind of thing, but it
looks like he's not around these days.
Sometimes when you try to reach out, your hand gets slapped
        back. It happens pretty often.
Kay: Uh...who are you talking about?

<Selmer + Serdic>
Selmer: You're Serdic, Crown Prince of Bretwalde, right?
Serdic: I am. And you...?
Selmer: I'm Selmer, a magician from Almeria.
My master Arios ordered me to find you and help as best I can.
Serdic: Almeria's magicians have taken an interest in me?
Selmer: You've previously been a friend to us quite often, Prince Serdic.
We cannot sit idly by when you're in danger.
Serdic: I've... helped you, have I?
Selmer: Is something the matter?
Serdic: ...In any event, your aid is appreciated. It is a pleasure to meet
        you, Selmer.

<Selmer + Margus>
Selmer: Nice to meet you. My name's Selmer.
Margus: My, my, what a cute young lady...
Selmer: Wh-Who...?
Margus: I'm Margus, and let me say that it's a true pleasure to meet you.
Selmer: Ummm, I'm a boy.
Margus: You--I--Wh--a BOY!?
Selmer: ...You don't have to act THAT shocked...
Margus: Sorry...I need to be alone now.
Selmer: R-Right...
Margus: Of all the... Is my judgement that off nowadays?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 3 - A Kidnapping
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Note: Move the character to the marked point to initiate the conversation

<Kay + Jaglat>
  Kay: That's Princess Marie!
        Jaglat, you bastard!
        How dare you kidnap her!?
Jaglat: Huh? Hey, if it isn't one of Serdic's men.
  Kay: Damn... I've been spotted.
Jaglat: Don't let 'em get away, boys!

<Margus + Jaglat>
Margus: That's Jaglat of the Ga tribe, and THAT...is a beautiful woman...
        Is that Princess Marie!?
Jaglat: Huh? Hey, if it isn't one of Serdic's men.
Margus: Damn, they spotted me.
Jaglat: Don't let 'em get away, boys!

<Selmer + Jaglat>
Selmer: Hmm... That's Princess Marie of Bretwalde, isn't it?
I should hurry back and tell Prince Serdic about this.
Jaglat: Is someone over there!?
Selmer: So you've spotted me... But I won't reveal my identity.
Jaglat: Don't let 'em get away, boys!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 4 - The Deep Forest
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Margus + Sasha>
Margus: Hello, Sasha.
Sasha: Sir Margus... I apologize for all this on behalf of Shalem.
Margus: Perish the thought, Miss. It's Jaglat who's at fault here.
We'll sort this out in no time.
After which...would you like to come with me to Lake Seldina?
They say its waters are the clearest in all Bravord.
I'm guessing you'd feel your melancholy lift in no time if
        you...bathed in them.
Sasha: Ha! I appreciate your attempts to cheer me up...
But my only concern now is my Young Master's safety.
I can think of little else...
Margus: Hmm? Could it be that you're in lov--
Sasha: Wh-Wh-What are you saying!?
Our relationship is that of bodyguard and ruler. I am loyal to the
        Young Master--nothing more!
Margus: Ah...
Sasha: O-Of course he's important to me!
But it's because he carries the future of Shalem on his back. Any
        citizen would share my concern!
Margus: Another hopeless case...

<Kay + Margus>
Kay: Margus, what do you think of all this?
Margus: I can't believe Jaglat went and did such a thing.
Though if the Princess hadn't appeared, we might have gone
        unnoticed, so...
Kay: What!? Are you trying to pin this on Princess Marie, you degenerate!?
Margus: No, not at all.
        No, nothing like that.
At any rate... I hope Prince Serdic takes this opportunity to shine.
Kay: His Highness has been pretty timid since the fall of Egvard,
        I'll grant you that...
Driving off the bandits seemed like a good diversion for him, but...
Margus: Probably because it let him think about something besides Shalem or
       Bretwalde.
Kay: Hmm... We can't let ourselves be a burden to His Highness.
We must rescue Princess Marie, no matter what.

<Sasha + Serdic>
Sasha: Prince Serdic... do you think my Young Master is Safe?
If anything has happened to him, I...
Serdic: I can't say that Ansom is unhurt. Reassuring lies do not become a
        retainer as faithful as yourself.
However, Emir Ansom and his father took great pains to protect my
        sister and myself.
I will devote no less effort to protecting him.
Sasha: Thank you, Prince Serdic.
Serdic: That said, it troubles me to see such melancholy on your face.
I'm no Margus, but I mislike seeing a woman cry.
Sasha: I see... Also unlike Margus, your concern is not limited to
        attractive women, right?
Serdic: ... True enough. If it is within my power to help someone, I find
        it hard to resist trying.
Regardless... Ansom may yet live, but we don't know for how much
        longer. Let's hurry.
Sasha: Yes, Prince Serdic!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 5 - Reunion
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Marie + Serdic> *
Marie: Who's there!? Don't come any closer, or I'll bite through my tongue!
Serdic: Marie, eh...?
Marie: What? Elder brother, is that you?
Serdic: ...
Marie: I haven't seen you since our mother passed away...I suppose
        it's been five years now.
        You've changed, elder brother.
Serdic: As have you, Marie. You've grown even more radiant... it's a
        pleasant surprise.
Marie: Oh, elder brother...
Serdic: ...I regret that I was unable to protect Bretwalde.
Marie: Don't talk that way...
I'm happy enough to see you here, alive.
Serdic: Here... alive, hm?
Marie: Elder brother?
Serdic: It's nothing. We have much to discuss, but first, we should
take our leave from this place.
Marie: Right!

<Serdic + Marie> **
Serdic: Marie, are you all right?
Marie: Elder brother...? Is it really you?
Serdic: ...I'm sorry I took so long to come and rescue you. You must have
        been lonely.
Marie: No... this happened because I did as I pleased, without a thought
        as to the consequences.
        Don't blame yourself, elder brother.
Besides, my loneliness was cast off the instance I saw your face.
Serdic: My face evidently has many uses.
We have much to discuss, but we should first take our leave from
        this place.
Marie: Right!

<Kay + Marie>
 Kay: Princess Marie!
Thank goodness you're all right, Princess.
If anything had happened to you, I don't know how I could face our
       departed King...
Marie: Don't looks so forlorn, Kay.
       See? I am fine.
Besides, I am at fault--it was I who came to Shalem on my own,
       only to be captured.
Kay: No matter what you may have done, Princess, it is on our heads that
we were unable to protect you.
A knight obeys his liege's orders, and guards their lives with his own.
Marie: ...You haven't changed at all, Kay.
 Kay: Huh?
Marie: I mean to say that you are as steadfast as ever.
However, Kay, that is one of your strongest qualities.
Kay: Your Highness, I beg you not to tease me so.
Marie: I meant no teasing, Kay; only praise.
Kay: In that case, I have cause only for rejoicing.
       My sincerest thanks, Princess.

<Margus + Marie>
Margus: It's been a while, Princess.
Marie: On behalf of my departed father, thank you for your service in
        protecting my brother, Margus.
Margus: Your honor me, Princess. To receive such a compliment from one so...
        beautiful...
Marie: *giggle* Oh, Margus. You've said such things as long as I've known
        you...
Margus: Only to you, my Princess. Only to you...
Marie: Truly?
Margus: Really and truly. Look into my eyes, and you'll see that I speak
        the truth.
Marie: I understand... I believe you.
Margus: I am glad to hear it.
Marie: But Margus... you mustn't make women cry, all right?
Margus: Oh, er...

<Selmer + Marie> *
Selmer: You must be Princess Marie.
Marie: And you are...?
Selmer: I'm Selmer, a magician from Almeria.
I've come to help Prince Serdic on my master's orders.
Marie: My elder brother?
Selmer: Yes, he's right over there.
I'm sure he wants to see you right away.
Marie: Hooray!

<Sasha + Marie> *
Sasha: Are you all right, Princess Marie?
Marie: You are...?
Sasha: Don't you remember? It's me, Sasha.
Marie: ...Sasha! You're the one who's always at Emir Ansom's side!
Sasha: Yes.
We should leave this place, quickly.
Prince Serdic has been worried about you.
Marie: My elder brother is...?
       I see! Thank you, Sasha.

<Ansom + Serdic>
Ansom: I'm sorry to have worried you, Serdic.
Serdic: I'm glad you're all right. But it seems Emir Darsin wasn't so
        forunate...
Ansom: ...
Serdic: The Emir gave us his hospitality, and I was unable to repay
       his kindness.
Ansom: My fater wasn't the sort who'd care about that.
If you would mourn him, then do what you consider to be right.
That's the most fitting way to repay him.
Serdic: Then we can begin by avenging his death.
Ansom: Exactly.

<Ansom + Kay> ***
Ansom: Hmm... do I see... Sir Kay?
Kay: Emir Ansom, are you all right?
Ansom: Yes, thankfully.
 Kay: Can you stand?
Ansom: If I were to say "no"... would you carry me on your back, Sir Kay?
Kay: No. I would get Margus to do it.
Ansom: Hrmm... I'm tired of waiting here.
       Very well, I'll stand.
 Kay: Your effort is appreciated.

<Margus + Ansom> ***
Margus: So this is where you've been, Emir Ansom.
Ansom: Oh, it's you, Margus. I'd be grateful if you untied these ropes.
Margus: Easy enough... there we go.
Ansom: So soon? Mmm, my wrists have been rubbed raw.
Damn that Jaglat... I don't enjoy being tied up by other men.
Margus: I couldn't agree with you more!
Ansom: Your agreement is strangely vehement...

<Ansom + Selmer> ***
Ansom: ...Who's there?
Selmer: Allow me to introduce myself.
I'm Selmer, a magician from Almeria. My devotion is to Ice.
Ansom: What is an Almerian magician doing here?
Selmer: My master has ordered me to help Prince Serdic.
Ansom: I see. You said your devotion was Ice, right?
Selmer: Yes... what of it?
Ansom: In that case, do you think you could make the air a little cooler?
It's so humid in here... I can't take it anymore!
Selmer: Wouldn't it be easier to leave the cell...?

<Sasha + Ansom>
Sasha: Young Master!
Ansom: Sasha? You're all right...
Sasha: I was going to say the same to you! I can't believe you stayed
       behind by yourself...
Your always doing this! Acting recklessly, trying to solve things
       on your own!
Ansom: You flatter me.
Sasha: It wasn't a compliment! I'm really angry at you!
Do you have any idea how worried I was?
Ansom: ...I'm sorry. I was trying to keep that bastard Jaglat from
       laying a hand on you.
Sasha: Young Master? What do you mean by that?
Ansom: You're... you know... important to me...
       You're my vassal, after all.
       ...Wh-What's with that look?
Sasha: Oh... it's nothing.
Let's leave this hellhole, and quickly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 6 - The Red Lion
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Ansom + Serdic>
Ansom: I can't believe the Red Lions would come here.
Serdic: I'm sorry, Ansom. Because of me...
Ansom: Don't apologize so much, Serdic. It doesn't improve our situation.
My chief concern right now is the villagers. I need you to help me
save as many of them as I can.
Serdic: Of course.

<Marie + Serdic>
Marie: It's because of my carelessness that the Empire is attacking
        Shalem, isn't it?
Serdic: It's not your fault, Marie.
I no doubt overstayed my welcome...
Let's both leave here as soon as we can.
Marie: Yes, elder brother.

<Kay + Margus>
Kay: So, what kind of people are these Red Lions?
Margus: They're the Third Imperial Army Division.
Their leader's a woman called Clotho, the Red Lion herself.
She used to be a bandit.
She's the only one who can keep the savages under her command in line.
Kay: The Empire's using such people as regular troops?
Margus: Remember, they weren't always this powerful. They'd accept any warm
        body to increase their ranks.
Yet somehow, they managed to defeat us.
Kay: Hmph. We wouldn't have lost if they hadn't used such cowardly tactics!
Margus: Their lust for conquest frightens me, I admit. I wonder how far
        they'll take it...
Kay: It doesn't matter what they do. The Empire is no threat to us!
Margus: ...I think you're repeating yourself, my friend.

<Ansom + Sasha>
Ansom: Those bastards... How dare they attack Shalem?
Sasha: Please calm down, Young Master.
Ansom: If I give myself up, the Empire should be satisfied.
       You should escape with Serdic.
Sasha: I can't do that!
Ansom: Are you saying I should stand by as the Empire stamps its boots
across the land my father loved?
Sasha: As long as the people of the Na tribe remain, the wounds can
       someday heal.
But the only one left to lead those people is you, Young Master.
       It's the same with Bretwalde.
So long as Prince Serdic survives, they will be able to rebuild.
Giving yourself up is the surest way to see Emir Darsin's land
       be destroyed, Young Master.
Ansom: Sasha...
Sasha: Besides... I never want to feel that way, ever again.
Please let me stay by your side...
Ansom: ...You're right. It would be irresponsible of me to die here.
Given the choice, I'd rather live and be miserable. Right, Sasha?
Sasha: Now you're sounding more like the Young Master I know.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 7 - Wise Bandits
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Marie + Selmer>
Marie: Selmer, what sort of person is Master Arios?
Selmer: He took in my younger brother and I when we had nowhere else to
        turn. He's a good man.
His one failing is that he can become rather... overenthusiastic
        on the subject of magic.
Marie: Like Margus, where women are concerned?
Selmer: No... worse.
There's always a laugh behind Margus' words; not so much with Master
        Arios. He is always serious.
Marie: Isn't that a good thing?
Selmer: If only you knew...

<Owl + Marie>
Owl: Huh, you're a pretty one. Did you come to wave the white flag?
Marie: We have no time to waste on such frivolity.
The Empire's Third Army Division is pursuing us closely.
If they catch up, you will all be drawn into the battle as well.
Owl: The Third Division... You mean the Red Lions?
What the hell did you guys do to bring that kind of heat down on you?
Marie: ...We are survivors of Bretwalde.
The Imperial Army seems bent on our destruction.
 Owl: Hmm... Bretwalde, huh?
It ever cross your mind that we might just decide to capture you?
You'd make a hefty bargaining chip with the Empire.
Marie: If you know the Red Lions by reputation, then I doubt I need
       to tell you this...
But don't you know what the most likely outcome of such a deal
       would be?
It would be as if you offered your own body up to a ravenous beast.
Owl: Heh... A beast, huh? Well, you ain't far off. Still, you're some girl.
We'll call a truce for now. I'll help you guys... nah, I'll help YOU.

<Ansom + Owl> *
Ansom: I don't believe this...
Am I really allying myself with the bandits that attacked Shalem?
Owl: Don't whine so much. I already bawled out the ones who attacked
       the Federation.
Ansom: But... then why did you attack us again just now?
Owl: I apologize for my boys, but it's still a point of honor.
Ansom: Honor, hmm? Well, that's understandable.
Owl: See? If you don't start anything, neither will we. We are
       gentleman thieves, after all.
Ansom: Gentleman thieves...? I hope I can take you at your word.

Notes:
* = dialogue only starts when Owl becomes an NPC

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 8 - Harbor and Pirates
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Kay + Owl>
Kay: First bandits, and now pirates?
Owl: Still complaining about that, bro?
Kay: It's not that I have any problems with you at the moment.
But don't go around calling me "bro." You don't know me.
     And I don't trust you.
Owl: Sheesh, that's cold. The Princess trusts me are you gonna doubt me
after your boss has accepted me?
Kay: That's right. It's my duty to think about things my liege might
     have overlooked.
If I see you doing anything suspicious, I'll put you to the sword.
Owl: Well, hell, why not just do it right now? Go ahead.
Kay: ...Hmph. I'm not so cruel as to cut down a man who's done nothing.
But don't forget what I said.
Owl: Fine, okay. Can't we get along, bro?

<Margus + Sasha>
Margus: Pirates, huh?
Sasha: What's the matter, Sir Margus?
Margus: Oh, Sasha.
I was wondering if the women of this town might be grateful if we
        drove these pirates off.
Sasha: Sir Margus... is that all you ever think about?
Margus: Hey, this is how I get myself psyched up for battle.
Sasha: Really... you're just like the Young Master.
Margus: Him? Emir Ansom is twice the ladies' man I am...
Sasha: That's just like him, too.
You both act like it's all a joke, but when the time comes, you take
        things very seriously.
Although you're more consistent in your behaviour
        than the Young Master...
Margus: ...You've seen right through me.
Sasha: You're more set in your ways than he is.
Margus: Paying close attention to me, are you? If you get tired of Emir Ansom,
       you know... Hahaha.
Sasha: ...I take back what I said before. You're only ever half serious
        aren't you...?

<Sasha + Marie>
Sasha: You don't have to join in the fight, Princess.
Marie: No, I do... If I can help, I owe it to them.
Besides, if I weren't at my elder brother's side, I would worry
       about him.
Sasha: Prince Serdic is very important to you, isn't he?
Marie: N-No, that's not it!
Sasha: Did I say something wrong?
You're brother and sister... there's nothing unusual about
       caring for him, right?
Marie: Oh... you're right. We are siblings, aren't we?
Sasha: You're acting rather strangely, Princess.

<Ansom + Serdic>
Ansom: Just when we escaped from the Imperial Army, we have pirates
        to deal with.
Serdic: We've had ill fortune lately, it's true.
Ansom: No, I think our luck has been good, on the whole.
After all, we'll be able to save these townspeople.
Serdic: ...You're right.
Ansom: Even so, I'd like to take some time to relax.
Think we could have a nap after we drive these pirates off?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 9 - Pirate Island
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Sasha + Owl>
Sasha: Owl, do you know anything about this island?
Owl: Just a rumor that pirates live here, that's all.
     I ain't no pirate. I'm a bandit.
Sasha: So pirates and bandits don't necessarily get along...?
Owl: Well, you got your big shots like Ansom and Jaglat that don't
     get along, right?
Just because a couple of guys have similar lifestyles don't
     mean they're best buddies.
Plus, they're seafolks. Thanks, but no thanks, y'know?
Sasha: What do you mean?
Owl: Ever since I was nearly shipwrecked this one time, I try
to steer clear of the ocean.
Honestly, I don't even want to be here.
Sasha: Are you saying you're afraid of the ocean?
Owl: Scared ain't the word! Alls I'm saying is, I want nothing to
     do with it!
Sasha: But isn't that the definition of being scared...?

<Ansom + Marie>
Ansom: We have to hurry to Verona, yet here we are, making a stop in
       a place like this.
Marie: I'm sorry, Emir Ansom.
Ansom: Well, I supposed it's all right.
I hate to see innocent people being attacked.
If at all possible, I'd like to save them.
Marie: ...I'm sorry.
Ansom: I just said it's all right...why are you still apologizing?
Marie: Because we were unable to save the people of Shalem.
Ansom: ...That's also all right. If you have to blame someone, blame me.
       I should have saved them.
Now why don't we both work extra hard to save the people of Zandi?
Marie: Yes!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 10 - Across the Desert
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Serdic + Selmer>
Serdic: I'm impressed that you can live here at all, let alone construct
        a habitat.
Selmer: It's thanks to the huge oasis at Almeria City. It's cooler there
        than you'd expect.
Then, too, with so many magicians, we can alleviate some of the more
        severe aspects of the climate.
Serdic: Magicians... intersting.
Selmer: Of course, that doesn't reach beyond the city walls.
The noontime heat, the nighttime cold, sandstorms, savages...
There are many things to beware of out here.
Serdic: Can't you use magic to do something about it?
Selmer: As I said before, somewhat.
But there's no one alive with magic powerful enough to change the
        environment itself...yet.
Serdic: Meaning... it could be possible someday?
Selmer: The study of magic advances every day. That is one of the many
        subjects being researched.
Serdic: Hmmm... So magic may someday change our world.
Selmer: Alas, at this rate, it's unlikely you or I will live to see the day.
Serdic: Ah. If only...

<Serdic + Alhambra> *
 Serdic: Are you all right?
Alhambra: You saved me. Who are you?
Serdic: No one of importance. I'm only glad that I could help.
We're in a hurry, so if you'll excuse me...
Alhambra: Hold on...! You didn't say anything about how I look.
 Serdic: Should I have...?
Alhambra: No... I didn't mean that.
Serdic: Well... I will allow that you have pretty ears.
Alhambra: Pretty?
 Serdic: Very much so.
Alhambra: Haaaahahaha! That's the first time I ever heard that one!
You guys going to Almeria City?
 Serdic: We are. And you?
Alhambra: Same. I'm trying to research this body of mine.
You know, it's like fate, you rescuing me here.
I'm coming with you--and I don't want to hear one word otherwise!

<Kay + Margus> *
  Kay: Who's that dreadful-looking girl?
Margus: Shush, Kay. She's a beastwoman.
Kay: You know about them, Margus?
Margus: Kind of. Long ago, there was a tribe whose strongest wish was to
        become unstoppably powerful.
At first, they sought the height of human potential in physical
        fitness and swordsmanship.
Then one day, it occurred to them...
The limits of the human body weren't enough to attain the
        power they wanted. And so...
Kay: They looked to animal bodies.
Margus: Exactly.
In the end, the other tribes feared their prowess and scattered
them to the ends of the earth.
Let that be a lesson--don't seek power for its own sake.
  Kay: No kidding.

<Margus + Alhambra> **
Margus: Hello there, young miss. Hellooo.
Alhambra: Who're you?
Margus: I'm Margus, one of Prince Serdic's faithful knights.
Alhambra: Oh, you're with the boy...
So, out with it: what do you want with me?
Margus: Just to talk. What would you say to a nice, private sit-down in one
          of Almeria's tea houses?
Alhambra: ...Doesn't my body concern you at all?
Margus: Oh, greatly. In fact, I'm finding it difficult to be concerned
          about anything else.
Alhambra: ......
Margus: What's with that look? Have you fallen for me?
Alhambra: I'm appalled, you moron!

<Selmer + Alhambra> **
 Selmer: So you're a beastwoman... I see.
Alhambra: You want to make something of it, magician boy?
Selmer: I apologize if I sounded confrontational... I'm genuinely
          interested in your condition.
          Ugh... that still sounds uncouth.
Alhambra: Oh... that's fine, then. But yeah, you're right that I don't really
          want to show it off.
Selmer: I understand you want to change your current form?
Alhambra: Yeah. Can you do it?
 Selmer: I can't...
But my mentor in Almeria may be able to help in some way.
He takes a special interest in extranormal matters.
Alhambra: Really? That's the best news I've heard all day!
Selmer: I can't guarantee anything, mind you.
Alhambra: I'd be happy to get any information at all.
 Selmer: I think you misunderstand...
You're likely to see results. But I can't guarantee his behaviour...
Alhambra: ......

<Cotton + Alhambra> ** (different BGM plays just for this... >>;;)
 Cotton: Hmm.
Alhambra: What're you looking at me like that for?
 Cotton: They look delicious...
Alhambra: Huh!?
Cotton: Hey, could you let me chew on your ears a little?
I think it could help jog my memory...
Alhambra: Hey, hold it! Don't bite my ear! Aahh!

Stage 11 - Fatima Fortress
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Margus + Kay>
Margus: Looks like it's being occupied by the Fourth Division.
Kay: Do you know about them, Margus?
Margus: Well, I've at least heard of them
They're known as the Green Lions.
It's a corps of mainly magicians, led by Ernet, who's sometimes
        called the Lightning Emperor.
Kay: But I don't see any magicians here...
Margus: They may have already been dispatched to Almeria City.
They're probably intending to fight magic with magic.
  Kay: I see.

<Ansom + Selmer>
Ansom: So the Empire has even manged to invade Almeria, huh?
Selmer: Almeria is protected by the magicians of the Ark.
That should prevent it from falling so easily, but...
Ansom: The Ark?
Selmer: It's an academy of magic located in Almeria City.
Myself and my mentor, Arios, are both members.
Ansom: I see. So I guess we just have to put our faith in the Ark.
Selmer: Please let it be all right...

<Rukia + Serdic> *
Rukia: Waah... I can't find any treasure, and there are guards all over!
What in the world is going on!?
Serdic: What the... Why would a young girl be in a place like this?
Rukia: Hmm.
Serdic: Hmm?
Rukia: Who are you?
Serdic: No one of importance... And you?
What business do you have here?
Rukia: Aheheh, good of you to ask.
        I'm Rukia.
They know me in Almeria as the greatest theif of our time!
Serdic: A thief, eh? So you've come to steal something?
Rukia: The Imperials took food from the oasis nearby... I came to take
        it back.
Serdic: Well, that won't do. I suppose it's all right if you retrieve
        the food.
Rukia: Huh. You're pretty generous.
Well, I'll be taking the food... oh, and that sword too!
Serdic: What about it?
Rukia: It looks real valuable! Hey, you wouldn't give it to me, would you?
Serdic: I'm sorry, but I can't.
        This sword is very important.
Rukia: If you gimme the sword... you can do anything you want with me.
Serdic: A-Anything I want!?
Rukia: That's right!
Serdic: Wh-What are you saying!?
It doesn't matter... Under no circumstances can I give you this sword!
Rukia: Aww, you're so cute, the way you turn bright red like that.
That's it! I'm going with you!
Serdic: Huh? Now see here, this is no laughing matter...
Rukia: Nope! I made up my mind! You got a problem with that!?

<Margus + Rukia> **
Margus: Why hello, young miss.
Rukia: Umm... you're Margus, right?
Margus: That's right. I'm pleased to see you remembered my name.
Rukia: So, what do you want?
Margus: It sounds like you came here to ease the suffering of the
        Empire's victims.
I thought I might be able to help, that's all.
Rukia: By coming over and hitting on me?
Margus: Right. It's a vital step in the process.
Rukia: ......
Margus: Joking, of course. I really do want to help you.
Rukia: No thanks. My only lover is cold, hard cash!
Margus: So all I need is some money?
        Then look at this...
Rukia: Yay! Hey... what do you take me for, a kid!?

<Cotton + Rukia> **
Cotton: You came here to get food, right?
Rukia: Yeah, that's right. Why?
Cotton: Food, food...Hmm. It feels like I might remember something.
Rukia: Maybe you were looking for food, Cotton.
Cotton: Ah ha ha ha, there's no way!
Rukia: Ha ha, that's probably true.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 12 - The Ark Magicians
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Kay + Margus>
Kay: So this is Almeria City.
Margus: It was built around an enormous oasis in the Ismael Desert.
Its population is said to be higher than Egvard's.
  Kay: Higher than Egvard's?
Margus: Yeah, since there are fewer inhabitable areas in the desert.
When people find a place where they6 can live, everyone clusters
        in that one spot.
That's why the Ark is here in Almeria City as well.
Kay: That's the magician's academy that Selmer belongs to, right?
Margus: Exactly.
The magicians of the Ark research magic that'll make people's lives
        easier.
I hear that's why Almeria is so comfortable, even out here in the
        middle of the desert.
Kay: And those are the magicians we'll be up against... Great to know.
Margus: Yeah, no kidding.

<Cotton + Selmer>
Cotton: Almeria's food sure is strange.
Selmer: That's because the soil here has a completely different makeup
than other parts of the world.
And, er... you have to take into account the sand that inevitably
        gets into the meal.
But... you seem awfully relaxed, considering everything that's
        going on.
Cotton: Hey, this is tasty! *munch munch*
Selmer: Quick, finish your plate.
Cotton: Th-Thanks you...
Selmer: This feels just like when I feed Master Arios...
Cotton: ...You feed your teacher?

<Selmer + Elmer>
Selmer: Elmer! Elmer, is it really you?
Elmer: Oh, hi, Selmer. I wondered where you disappeared to... and here
        you are, helping Bretwalde.
Selmer: Why are you fighting with the Imperial Army?
Elmer: Because I think that's what's best for Almeria.
Selmer: Best for Almeria...?
Elmer: That's right. It's a volatile age we're living in here... the maps
        are redrawn almost every day.
Yet the Ark hasn't made its move. Are they stupid?
If we don't do something, Almeria will be left in the dust.
So I'm going to fight anyone I have to for Almeria's sake.
Selmer: And that's why you're going against our master's teachings?
Our master said that magic isn't meant to hurt people, but rather
        to make their lives better.
That is what he taught us, no?
Elmer: "Our master said, our master said." You act like a little kid.
Your a magician of the Ark! How about making your own decisions
        for a change?
Selmer: This is my decision.
If you've chosen to fight, Elmer, then killing me will have to be
        part of that choice.
But I won't fight you, Elmer. I don't want to hurt you.
Elmer: ...Dammit.
My conscience would never let me get away with killing someone who
has my own face. I give up.
        Ernet pisses me off anyways...

<Rukia + Elmer> *
Rukia: So you're just a kid...
Elmer: Who the hell are you?
Rukia: I'm Rukia.
I heard the guy leading the Ark magicians was someone Selmer knew...
But I didn't think it'd be his twin brother. To think a kid
       could do something like that...!
Elmer: So? Aren't you a kid, too?
And what's with the tomboy outfit? You trying to act cute?
Rukia: How rude! It's no act--I AM cute!
Elmer: ...Uh-huh. Whatever... just stop talking.

Notes:
* = Elmer must become an NPC before the conversation will start

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 13 - The Thunder Emperor
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Owl + Elmer>
Owl: It's so cool here... you'd never believe you were in the desert.
So this is what the Ark magicians can do, huh?
Elmer: Heh. Surprised?
Owl: Oh, come on... it's not like you were the one who did this.
Elmer: Hey, I'm an Ark magician too!
Owl: All right... then tell me exactly how and where you helped out.
Elmer: Hmph... it doesn't matter!
Owl: Ooh, a temper... you really are just a kid.

<Marie + Rukia>
Rukia: So this is the Ark, huh? They must have lots of great stuff
       lying around!
Marie: You mustn't take anything. It is the rightful property
       of Almeria, after all.
Rukia: Oh, of course. I know that!
Don't treat me like an idiot!
Marie: I... I apologize.
Rukia: ......
Marie: ......
Rukia: Just one souvenir is okay, right?
Marie: No!

<Serdic + Arios> *
Serdic: You are Arios, Selmer and Elmer's master, correct?
Arios: Oh! You're...
Serdic: I am Serdic of Bretwalde.
Arios: I see, I see. I am indeed Arios, Head Researcher of the Sixth
        Laboratory here at the Ark.
And you're the Crown Prince Serdic. Hmm...
Serdic: Is something the matter?
Arios: I'm interested in your body.
Serdic: What!?
Arios: When we have a spare moment, may I perform a thorough examination
        of your body?
Serdic: E-Er, that is... Ah yes! You must see this!
Arios: This is the Holy Blade of Bretwalde, isn't it?
I've always wanted a good, long look at this.
        ...Oh dear. This is...
Serdic: Yes, someone has laid a curse on it.
I hear that you may know how to lift it...?
Arios: Hmm... hmmmm. I'll need to glean more information first...
Serdic: I understand completely. In the meantime, let's drive out the Empire.
Ernest, one of the Grands, is supposedly within this very building.
Arios: Ernest, eh?
Serdic: Do you know him?
Arios: He was a classmate of mine... Our discussions on magical theory
used to last long into the night.
How should I put this... smart, but not very wise.
Serdic: That's quite an assessment...

<Selmer + Arios>
Selmer: Master.
Arios: Hmmm... With Fire at 30, and Thunder at 20, then...
Selmer: Master.
Arios: One moment. If I alter the proportions, what would happen...?
Selmer: Master!
Arios: Yeargh!
Oh... it's you, Selmer. There's no need to shout.
Selmer: What are you doing here during a crisis like this!?
Arios: Isn't it obvious? I'm doing very important research.
Selmer: Still? But the Empire has occupied the city...
Is your research more important that that?
Arios: Well, seeing as how the research can be done anywhere, but only I
        can perform it... Hey!
I'm sorry, Selmer... Please don't cry.
I'll join Prince Serdic as soon as I gather my things.

<Alhambra + Arios>
Alhambra: So you're Selmer's teacher, huh?
  Arios: ......
Alhambra: That kid told me you might have a way to fix this body of mine.
  Arios: ......
Alhambra: Wh-What is it?
  Arios: Very nice...
Alhambra: Huh!?
Arios: I can fix you... or should I say, restore you.
I, Arios, am probably the only magician in Brevord capable of
          doing so.
I will definitely restore your body.
Just stay at my side, no matter what, all right?
Alhambra: ...Why didn't I pay more attention to what the kid said...?

<Elmer + Arios>
Elmer: ...I'm sorry.
Arios: Hmm? For what?
Elmer: I went against your teachings. Instead of helping people...
I used my magic to hurt them.
Arios: I see... but you were still doing what you thought was right,
       I assume?
Elmer: Well...
Arios: Or did you know it was wrong and did it anyway?
If that's the case, you don't need to apologize to me. It's
       your own ideals you've forsaken.
Elmer: Master...
Arios: If you still believe you need to apologize to me, then Elmer...
I don't mind, and neither should you. Understand?
Elmer: ...Thank you, Master.

Notes:
* = Unknown condition...I tried not recruiting Elmer and just letting
Selmer speak to Arios. Afterwards, Serdic couldn't talk to Arios,
if someone knows why, please e-mail me.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 14 - Voice of Darkness
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Rukia + Serdic>
Rukia: Doot de doo, treasure, treasure, lalalaaa...
Serdic: Rukia, we haven't come here to steal anything.
Rukia: I know! I know that! I'm telling you, I know!
        Dum de dum...
Serdic: ......
Rukia: Tralala...
Serdic: Rukia, did you hear what I said?
Rukia: Hmm? What? Tum te um...
Serdic: ...It's hopeless.

<Elmer + Selmer>
Elmer: Heh... man, it's chilly.
Selmer: What in the world is this sensation...?
Elmer: What does it matter?
        Things are getting interesting!
Selmer: Remember, Elmer, "Always take an interest in the unknown."
Isn't that what our master says?
If you're not constantly looking for new experiences...
You'll never improve as a magician.
Elmer: But...
Selmer: I won't listen to your excuses.
        Listen, Elmer.
Magicians originally came into being in order to reveal the
        hidden truths of our world...
Elmer: Gah! He's as irritating as the master... though in a different way...

<Margus + Igraine>
Margus: Hmm.
Igraine: ?
Margus: Hmm.
Igraine: Why do you keep looking at Raine?
Margus: Oh...no reason.
Igraine: ......?
         You're weird.
Margus: Yeah... definitely a bad idea.

<Arios + Igraine>
Arios: Well, well, well... You're quite strong when it comes to using
       Darkness, aren't you? Interesting.
Igraine: You can tell? Wow!
Arios: Yes, I can. I'm generally an impressive man.
It wouldn't be exaggerating to say I'm the most impressive man
in Almeria... no, all of Bravord.
Igraine: Well, you certainly are... um...

<Igraine + Serdic>
Igraine: Great Darkness, please grant these people a peaceful rest...
Serdic: Hmm? What is a little girl doing in a place like this?
Igraine: Is someone there?
Serdic: Ahh! She's spotted me! U-Um...
         Who might you be...?
Igraine: You're pretty rude, asking a lady her name before giving yours.
Serdic: I-I'm sorry. My name is... Serdic.
I'm the crown prince of Bretwalde.
Igraine: Serdic? Of Bretwalde?
Serdic: Y-Yes. So, what's your name?
Igraine: Igraine.
Serdic: A pleasure to meet you, Igraine.
Igraine: *stare*
Serdic: Wh... What's the matter?
Igraine: *stare*
Serdic: (She's not making this any easier...)
Igraine: Okay.
Serdic: What?
Igraine: I said okay, Serdic. I've decided. Raine will go with you.
Serdic: A-Are you sure? Igraine... this is not a game.
We couldn't take a little girl like you along.
Igraine: I decided, though. Raine is going to help you, Serdic.
Serdic: Even so... I'm not going to bring a small girl onto the battlefield.
Igraine: It's so rude of you to keep calling me "little"! Raine is
already 12 years old and a lady!
It might not look like it, but I'm good at magic. And besides...
Serdic: Besides?
Igraine: The Darkness is coming.
Serdic: This sensation... what's happening!?

//18 Black Knights appear

Igraine: Poor souls... they've been taken by the Darkness.
Serdic: What?
Igraine: Normal weapons have no effect. If you don't flee quickly you'll
         be in grave danger.

<Margus + Kay> *
Margus: This feeling... is this the power of the Darkness?
Kay: Do you know about it, Margus?
Margus: No, I don't. But I don't have to... I can feel it.
It's incredible what an oppressive feeling it is...

<Marie + Igraine> *
 Marie: Hello, Igraine.
Igraine: Who are you?
Marie: I'm Marie, the princess of Bretwalde... I'm Serdic's
         younger sister.
Igraine: Ohhh. So what does his little sister want with me?
Marie: What were you doing in a place like this?
Igraine: What does it matter?
Marie: Well, I find it unlikely that any normal child would be in a place
         like this... Who are you?
And for what reason are you attaching yourself to my brother?
Igraine: Huh.
 Marie: Wh-What is it?
Igraine: You're jealous.
 Marie: !
        Wh-What are you saying?
Igraine: Yeah, I thought so. It's true. Raine and Serdic have a deep bond.
And there's no room for you, Marie.
Marie: How dare you...! You don't know a thing about my elder brother.
Igraine: How much do you know, Marie? Have you always been with him?
Even when the Imperial Army arrived?
Have you seen the same things that Serdic has? Do you know everything?
 Marie: I...
Igraine: Hee hee. I'm sorry, Marie.
You do know... and that's why you're with him, right?
 Marie: ......
Igraine: Not gonna answer? Do you hate me now...?
         Well, Raine lkes you, Marie.
'Cause after all, you care about Serdic.
It's dangerous here. Let's go, quickly.

<Cotton + Igraine> *
Cotton: Hey, someone teensier than me!
Igraine: ...Teensier?
Cotton: It's true, isn't it?
Igraine: Harumph! Raine is a lady.
Cotton: Ahahaha, you're so funny!
Igraine: Grrr!

<Elmer + Igraine> *
Elmer: Hey, what's with the slow pace? Let's get outta here already.
Igraine: Oh my! Will you escort me?
Elmer: Huh... up close, you're pretty cute.
Yeah, I'll escort you or whatever.
Igraine: Huh. Well, too bad. I'm not interested in children like you.
         Why not ask someone else?
 Elmer: What did you say!?

Notes:
* = Igraine must become a Visitor before the conversation will start

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 15 - Mountain Battle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Elmer + Serdic>
Elmer: Hey, this stupid ambush is all your fault.
Serdic: I'm sorry, Elmer. I didn't think it would turn out this way...
Elmer: The trouble we're in isn't gonna go away just 'cause you apologize.
If you have time to make excuses, you have time to get everyone
        together and get outta here.
Serdic: You should go first. It's the adults' responsibility to slow
        the enemy down.
Elmer: Are you saying I'm a kid? Haw! Which of us is acting like a kid?
You're the one sitting here and sulking, just 'cause you got caught
        off guard.
If you're such an adult, then act lke one.
Serdic: ...You're right. Let's evacuate everyone as fast as we can.
       Thank you, Elmer.
Elmer: ...Hmph. Hopeless.

<Elmer + Alhambra>
Elmer: This ambush just goes to show that Serdic's not all that.
Alhambra: Everyone makes mistakes. Even him.
So when that happens, we're here to fix it, right?
Elmer: Hey, I'm not making any promises.
Alhambra: So you're saying you can't handle opponents of this caliber?
Elmer: What did you say!? Who do you think you're talking to!?
Alhambra: The ignorant little pissant in front of me, I suppose.
Elmer: ...Hmph. You watch... I'll beat these Imperial weaklings.</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
Alhambra: Haha, that's the spirit. With that attitude, we can't lose!

<Shino + Serdic>
Shino: I'm sorry, but your life is at its end. Prepare yourself.
Serdic: I've never seen such clothes before... who in blazes are you?
Shino: Just a mercenary with orders to kill you all.
Serdic: You may try, but I won't let you lay a hand on Marie!
Shino: ...She's important to you, is she?
Serdic: Of course she is!
Er... not in that way. She's my younger sister, you understand.
Shino: ......
Serdic: Wh-What's with that look?
Shino: You're a funny one. You make me think of that girl...
Serdic: That girl? So you have someone dear to you as well.
Shino: She's a hostage of the Empire.
She's the reason I have to kill you all... but I don't feel like
        it anymore.
I quit. I'll just have to rescue her somehow.
Serdic: Why don't you come along with us?
Shino: Are you serious?
Serdic: It would be easier with allies than it would be on one's own, right?
And for our part, another helping hand is always welcome.
Shino: ...You're one of the good guys, aren't you? Sure, I'll come along.

<Margus + Shino> *
Margus: Hello there, Miss Shino. Your clothing is unusual...
        Where do you hail from?
Shino: The east. Are you interested in my clothes?
Margus: Not just your clothes, but the woman inside them as well.
Shino: ......
Margus: I bet you're beautiful when you sleep.
Shino: You're about three steps ahead of yourself, soldier.
Margus: Oh, that's not good. Umm... would you like to have dinner tonight?
Shino: It's no use backpedaling!

<Owl + Shino> *
Owl: That's a strange outfit. Where in the world did you come from?
Shino: The east.
Owl: East? You mean the Empire?
I've never seen that kind of outfit there.
Shino: Further east.
Where I come from, even the name Grand Meir is unknown.
 Owl: That's pretty far.
I've heard of merchants coming from the east every now and then, but...
Shino: Are you originally from Grand Meir, Owl?
Owl: Hmm? Uhh, well, I guess there's no use denying it.
Yeah, I was born in Grand Meir. I haven't been back in a while, though.
Shino: Do you ever feel like going back?
Owl: Nah. There's nothing in the Empire for me anymore.
Shino: I see. I do feel like going hom sometimes...
No matter how far I wander, I can't forget about it.
Owl: ...Maybe you got a point there.

Notes:
* = Shino must become a NPC before the conversation will start

Stage 16 - Young Lions
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Kay + Margus>
Kay: That's Ernest's banner. I guess that means that he's in charge of
        the Church's knights.
But what's that crest with the black lion on it?
Margus: That's the standard of the Black Lions, the Empire's
        Fifth Army Division.
I believe they're led by Alberich, one of the Grands.
Kay: Do you know about them, Margus?
Margus: Yeah, I've heard of him. Along with the Second Division, his men
        follow the code of knighthood.
Kay: So we can expect a fair fight against them... not like Ernest's group.
        That's good news.
Margus: Well, don't get your hopes up.
The Fifth Division are true knights in more than one sense.
        Not only are they honorable...
Kay: They're strong, too. I guess there's no such thing as an easy battle.
Margus: There are plenty of people who wish there were, though.
Kay: True... I doubt anyone WOULDN'T want to make battles easier.
Anyone who wouldn't must be some kind of war fanatic.
Margus: Yep. Now come on, let's go show those Black Lions how the knights
        of Bretwalde do things.

<Serdic + Marie>
Serdic: Two Grands... and just as we were about to arrive at the Holy City.
Marie: Don't lose hope, elder brother.
Surely, even the Grands have weaknesses we can exploit.
Serdic: Weaknesses, eh? Do you know anything about them, Marie?
Marie: Just that Ernest uses lightning magics, and Alberich is unmatched
when it comes to the spear.
Serdic: Hmm...
Marie: Oh, and I have also heard that Alberich is the youngest of the Grands.
Prior to that, the youngest was Ernest.
        And that's all I know... I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help.
Serdic: I see... That should be enough.
Tell everyone--we're going to break through Ernest's line.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 17 - Winter Storm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Serdic> *
Serdic: So this is the Holy City of Seine.
        The enemy's movements seem peculiar...

<Serdic + Marie> **
Serdic: So this is the Holy City of Seine.
Marie: Do you think the Pope is all right?
Serdic: I haven't heard news of his capture... I'm sure he's all right.
Regardless, it's another reason to liberate Seine as soon as we can.
Marie: Yes, elder brother.

//sound of door opening

Marie: ?
Serdic: What's the matter?
Marie: Just then... it felt as if someone was watching me...
I'm sorry. It's no doubt my imagination.
       Let's go, elder brother.

<Alhambra + Selmer>
Alhambra: Brrrrr...
Selmer: What's wrong?
Alhambra: I'm cold! What's with this snow!?
Selmer: The snow is a reflection of its parent element, Ice.
It's particularly evident in Verona, where the power of Ice
        makes the winter season harsher.
Alhambra: That's not what I'm asking!
Selmer: I'm only kidding. If you're cold, why not ask Master Arios? He's
very good with the Fire element.
Alhambra: Something tells me if I asked him, I'd end up burned to a crip...

<Girl/Aegil + Serdic> + Marie ***
 Girl: You appear troubled.
Serdic: Who are you!?
Girl: A simple nun, who happened to be passing. If you have need of
my help, I would gladly give it.
Serdic: (That's one suspicious nun...)
Marie: Uh--uh--ah--it--
Girl: What is wrong, milady? You act as if you recognize me, but surely
        that is impossible, yes?
Marie: Yes.. yes!
Serdic: What's wrong, Marie?
Marie: Nothing whatsoever, elder brother.
Girl: That settled, I will help you.
Serdic: (What was settled...?)
Girl: My name is Aegil. It's very nice to meet you.
Serdic: Aegil... It feels like I've heard that name somewhere before...

<Margus + Aegil>
Margus: It's an honor to meet you, young miss.
Aegil: And who might you be? Your face is most disagreeable.
Margus: I-I've been rejected before, but never like that..!
Aegil: My apologies; it was poor form to say to a new acquaintance.
Allow me to try once more...
        You're quite a dubious fellow.
Margus: That's no better!
Aegil: How tedious... I have things to attend to.
Now run back to your master.
        Shoo, shoo!
Margus: Oh, man... How'd she humiliate me that bad...?

<Aegil + Alhambra>
Aegil: Good heavens, miss! Your form is certainly unusual!
Alhambra: Huh? Quit talking about my body...
          Hey! What are you doing!?
Aegil: Ooh, so warm and fuzzy. Your fur is much more comfortable than
          marten leather.
Alhambra: Buzz off! Ohhh, it's so cooold...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 18 - Free Verona
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Serdic> *
Serdic: It won't be much longer until Seine is free again.
The Holy Blade may still be corrupted...
But without having been coronated, I wonder if Verona will still
         assist me...?
...No matter. We must concentrate on liberating the Holy City, which
        stands before us now.
        Here we go!

<Serdic + Marie> **
Serdic: It won't be much longer until Seine is free again.
The Holy Blade may still be corrupted...
But without having been coronated, I wonder if Verona will still
         assist me...?
        What do you think, Marie?
Marie: What? Oh, yes, quite right.
Serdic: ...Marie? Is something the matter?
Marie: No, it's nothing. Really.
Serdic: This has been an arduous journey...
You must be tired. Then, let us finish this!

<Marie + Serdic> ***
Marie: I hope that Simon is all right...
Serdic: Simon? Who is he?
Marie: A Veronan knight.
When first I arrived in Verona, sobbing with homesickness...
He would often lend a sympathetic ear.
From thence forward, he was always watching over me from the shadows.
Serdic: I see... Do you love him, Marie?
Marie: T-That's not quite it! But I suppose if asked whether I loved
or hated him, I'd choose love.
But not precisely the kind of love you imply, elder brother.
Serdic: Really?
Marie: Not at all!
Serdic: R-Right, then.

<Yumiluna + Serdic>
Yumiluna: Crown Prince! Crown Prince!
Serdic: Please, call me Serdic. What's the matter, Yumiluna?
Yumiluna: Before you rescued us, there was a man from the empire who tried
          to help us escape.
But a treacherous-looking man spotted him first, and took him away...
If you should happen to see him, would you please rescue him?
Serdic: I understand. Do you know his name?
Did he have any distinguishing characteristics?
Yumiluna: He was clad all in black armor, and his name was...Ulberith, I think?
Serdic: Ulberith... Noted. I'll tell the men.
Yumiluna: Thank you very much!

<Margus + Yumiluna>
Margus: Are you unharmed, Miss Yumiluna?
Yumiluna: Oh, you're the one they call Margus, right?
I've heard a great deal about you.
Margus: Really. What did you hear?
Yumiluna: That I shouldn't get too close in case your stupidity is contagious.
Oh! I suppose I shouldn't even be talking to you like this!
          Well, good-bye!
Margus: Heh... what do I have to live for?

<Aegil + Yumiluna>
Aegil: Are you all right, girl?
Yumiluna: Yes, thank you very much!
          ...Huh?
          Haven't we met somewhere before?
Aegil: No. We haven't. You must have me confused with someone else.
Yumiluna: Really? Oh, do forgive me, then.
  Aegil: Heeheehee...

<Simon + Marie>
Simon: Princess Marie! Is that you?
Marie: Oh, Simon! Thank goodness you're all right.
Simon: Thanks to all of you...
       Forgive me, Princess.
I vowed to protect you, and here you are rescuing me instead.
Marie: Simon! Please, don't look so downcast.
You have never broken your word this entire time.
I'd never punish you for a single slip in keeping your vow.
Simon: Your words are a relief, Princess.
Now, let us address the enemies still within the cathedral.
And this time, allow me to keep my vow.
Marie: Teehee... I'd be delighted if you'd escort me.

Notes:
* = Dialogue occurs at the beginning, only if Marie is not in the party.
** = Conversation occurs at the beginning, only if Marie is in the party.
*** = Occurs on the 2nd player phase. They do not need to be next to each other.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 19 - Underground Prison
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Izuna + Shino>
Izuna: You ain't getting past me!
Shino: *sigh*... Izuna, what are you doing?
Izuna: Oh, Shino-sis! Long time no see!
Shino: What do you mean, "long time no see"?
Izuna: A guy from the Empire gave me some food, so I thought I'd work
to repay him! Aren't you proud?
Shino: ......
I was a fool to worry about you.
Don't think you won't be disciplined when this is over.
Izuna: Ack...!

<Margus + Izuna> *
Margus: Hello there, sweet young miss.
Izuna: Oh, hey! What's up?
Margus: I just wanted to talk to you for a while.
Izuna: Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I gotta go find Shino-sis
        and face the music.
Margus: Hmm... I see. Would you like for me to go in your place?
Izuna: N-No way... You actually WANT to go get spanked by Shino-sis?
She's famous for knocking guys out for days on end...
You're not into that kinda thing, are you?
Margus: Is it that bad...?

<Alberich + Serdic>
Alberich: Are you one of Father Uther's henchmen? Has my hour arrived
          at last?
Serdic: I am no one's underling.
My name is Serdic, Prince of Bretwalde.
Are you the one known as Ulberith?
Alberich: ......
          It's Alberich.
So... I suppose I can take this to mean that Father Uther has
          been defeated.
Either way, my fate remains the same.
Serdic: No. I have no intention of harming you.
I'm here to set you free.
Alberich: Why? I'm a general in the Imperial Army that overran your kingdom.
Serdic: As it was told to me, the reason you are in this cell is the
          result of protecting prisonsers.
I'm not a monster, who would ingnore that debt and have you
          slain in cold blood.
Alberich: You're quite lenient.
 Serdic: Am I?
Alberich: I appreciate your help. But when we meet on the battlefield, duty
will prevent me from holding back.
 Serdic: No mercy, eh...?
Alberich: Mercy is not in my nature. Farewell, now.

<Yumiluna + Alberich>
Yumiluna: Are you all right?
Alberich: You're one of those who sided with the Pope... I see.
That explains why it was so noisy.
Yumiluna: I haven't forgotten the debt I owe you, for your attempt to
rescue me. Thank you very much.
Alberich: Your gratitude isn't necessary...
I did what anyone would do. I'm the one who should thank you.
Yumiluna: Oh, no, no, I just did what anyone would do.
Alberich: I... see. Thank you, then.
I appreciate your concern in rescuing me. But there is still
          something I must do... Farewell!

Notes:
* = Izuna must become a NPC before the conversation will start

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Stage 20 - The Fated Hour
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

<Marie + Serdic> * (voiced)
Marie: Why will you not strike me down?
Serdic: Why would I!? Don't talk such nonsense! What do you mean,
        you'd sacrifice your own life!?
On the day Egvard fell... I made a vow that I would protect you!
I will not allow you to sacrifice yourself!
Marie: But while I live, the Holy Blade cannot be revived...
How else do you plan to restor Bretwalde!?
Serdic: I... don't know.
But any method that requires the sacrifice of one so dear to me
        as you, Marie...
It is wrong on the face of it!
So I will seek a more righteous method.
Marie: Is that your true desire, elder brother?
Serdic: Yes. Those are my true feelings, stripped bare of any and all lies.
Marie: I understand.
If that is the case, I will never again make such a request.
Serdic: I am glad you understand, Marie...
Marie: ...Though I confess, I never expected you to be so passionate about me.
Serdic: ?

<Serdic + Marie> ** (voiced)
Serdic: I will... never say I had no choice.
I'm certain that there was some other way, and yet...
To claim the Bretwalde crown, I killed you with my own hands.
Marie: Please... look after Bretwalde.

Notes:
* = Wait four turns without attacking Marie, leads to Path A.
** = Kill Marie before four turns, leads to Path B.
