I am SPOON! (GameFAQs username: Sp00nMan) and I have been working on this
guide for a long time now. I finally found the level of information I wanted
to include from a reliable source, so I was able to go ahead with the project.
If this guide existed while I was completing  my Pokedex, I would have been
able to do it much faster.

In this guide I will give exact percentages regarding encounter rates of each
wild Pokemon. While I realize that some Pokemon have many places to be found,
I feel I have given the best places to find them. In some cases I put two
different places based on higher encounter rate and by ease of getting to each
place.

Q: What games does this guide cover?
A: This guide was written for all games in the Pokemon "Advanced" Generation
  and the "DS" Generation which includes:
  -Pokemon Ruby Version (GBA)
  -Pokemon Sapphire Version (GBA)
  -Pokemon Fire Red (GBA)
  -Pokemon Leaf Green (GBA)
  -Pokemon Emerald Version (GBA)
  -Pokemon Colosseum (GCN)
  -Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness (GCN)
  -Pokemon Diamond Version (DS)
  -Pokemon Pearl Version (DS)

Q: What is the point this guide?
A: The purpose of this guide is to help you complete your Pokedex in the
  simplest way possible. I will list the easiest ways to catch each of the
  493 Pokemon of the 4th generation.

Q: Why are there so many special sections? Can't you just say it in the list?
A: The world of Pokemon has become very complicated since the days of R/B/Y.
  There are now many Pokemon who need far more than one line of explanation
  in order to understand how exactly to catch or evolve them. I try to be as
  specific as possible in this guide so I leave no room for ambiguity. If you
  read the guide carefully, you should have no questions.

Q: What are those things in brackets in the table of contents?
A: If you've read other people's FAQs before, at least all the well-written
  ones, you've seen something similar. The point of them is so you can simply
  copy the bracketed thing and then hit CTRL+F on your keyboard. Then you
  paste it in there and it will bring you directly to the section you are
  looking for. I wish I knew who came up with this idea originally so I could
  credit them. Instead I give special thanks to good FAQ writers everywhere
  for creating a good standard.

The list will look like this:

Some Pokemon will have a note that looks like (H###). This is their Hoenn
Pokedex number. Completing the Hoenn Pokedex is important in Emerald, so which
Pokemon belong to the Hoenn Pokedex is important to display here.

Some Pokemon will have a note that looks like (S###). This is their Sinnoh
Pokedex number. Completing the Sinnoh Pokedex is important in both Diamond and
Pearl, so which Pokemon belong to the Sinnoh Pokedex is important to display
here.

If a Pokemon cannot be obtained in one of the GBA games,
or if it can be obtained in one DS game, but not the other,
the entry will simply say "TRADE"

If a Pokemon cannot be caught in one of the GCN games,
the entry will simply say "NO".

Please note that I am intentionally ignoring the possibility of evolution
when considering the GCN games.

If a Pokemon from 1-386 cannot be obtained in both Diamond and Pearl,
the entry will simply say "TRANSFER"

Pokedex entries 387-493 cannot be obtained by any means in Ruby, Sapphire,
Fire Red, Leaf Green, Emerald, Colosseum, or XD. For this reason, those entries
will only have space for Diamond & Pearl information.

Pal Park [PPRK]
***************
Pal Park exists only in Diamond & Pearl and is the only way to have any sort
of link between the GBA/GCN generation games and the DS/Wii generation games.

After you obtain the National Pokedex, Professor Oak will tell you about Pal
Park, which is at the end of Route 221. Once there, you can perform a one-way
transfer of any six Pokemon you have on your Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, Leaf
Green, or Emerald cartridge when it is inserted into the GBA slot on your DS.

The limit on transfers is six Pokemon per GBA cartridge per 24 hour period.
Please note that it is not per day. For example, if you perform a transfer
around 11:00 PM, then wait an hour until the day changes and try to perform
another transfer at 12:01 AM, you will not be able to. You must wait a full
24 hours in between transfers.

To prepare for a Pal Park transfer in a GBA game, you must first be sure that
the Pokemon you want to transfer do not know any HM moves. To remove HM moves,
you must use the Move Deleter who will make a Pokemon forget any move free of
charge.

In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the Move Deleter is in Lilycove City.
In Fire Red and Leaf Green, the Move Deleter is in Fuschia City.

The Move Deleter will not delete an HM move if the Pokemon you are trying to
delete it from is the only Pokemon you have that knows that HM move. To easily
combat this little problem, have a Tentacool & Tropius with these movesets
sitting in your party at all times in your GBA game:

Tentacool: Surf, Waterfall, Dive, Flash
Tropius: Fly, Cut, Rock Smash, Strength

This way you won't have to deal with the Move Deleter not obeying you.

Once you have chosen the six Pokemon you want to transfer from your GBA
game, put all six of them in any PC Box, save, and turn off the GBA game.
Start up your DS game with the GBA cartridge in the DS and if you've had
Professor Oak tell you about Pal Park a new option will be on the menu screen
that says "MIGRATE FROM ______" where ______ is the name of the game you have
in the GBA slot. Choose this option and you will be taken to your PC Box from
your GBA game. Select the Pokemon you want to transfer with the stylus and
you're done.

Now that they have migrated to your DS game, you have to catch them again!
Pal Park holds all the Pokemon you have migrated from your GBA games. When
you enter Pal Park you are handed six Park Balls. These have a 100% capture
rate so all you have to do is walk around in Pal Park, encounter your
Pokemon, and throw the ball.

Before entering Pal Park, be sure that at least one Pokemon in your party
knows Surf.

Pal Park is broken up into 5 sections, each holding different Pokemon. Every
time you try to transfer a specific Pokemon, it will always be in the same
section. Below is a list of all 5 sections, along with which Pokemon can be
found in each section:

For the purposes of getting these Pokemon, "completing" your Hoenn Pokedex

In Pokemon Colosseum, the second evolutionary form of each Johto starter are
all available to catch as Shadow Pokemon. You have infinite chances to catch
all Shadow Pokemon in that game, so if you own that, it will make obtaining

In Pokemon XD, each starter is given as a prize for beating the Mt. Battle
Challenge, Areas 1-10. Each time you complete this challenge you will be able

In Diamond & Pearl, some Pokemon can only be obtained after recieving the
National Dex while they are swarming at a particular area. These Pokemon are
all noted in the master list with a note that says "during swarm".

Pokemon swarms change every single day and are completely random. To find out
which swarm is going on, simply go to Sandgem Town and talk to Dawn's sister.
She will tell you which Pokemon is swarming and in what area. All you need to
do is go where she tells you and catch it.

Note once again that this only works after you have obtained the National Dex.

Pokeradar [PRDR]
****************
In Diamond & Pearl, some Pokemon can only be obtained by using an item called
the Pokeradar. These Pokemon are all noted in the master list with a note that
says "Pokeradar"

The Pokeradar is given to you by Professor Oak the first time you visit Pal
Park. To use it, go to any patch of grass where a Pokeradar only Pokemon is
hiding and select it from your Key Items.

It is recommended that you use a Repel because normal wild encounters can
still happen while using the Pokeradar. Once you use the Pokeradar, a few
patches of grass around you will shake. Go to one of the shaking patches of
grass and you will enter a battle with a wild Pokemon.

There are many theories about how the grass shakes or how far away it is from
you holding some secret to finding the Pokemon you are looking for. While this
may be true for keeping chains going, that has nothing to do with this guide.
The Pokemon you find on the first use of the Pokeradar is totally random and
has percentages just like every other encounter, which are noted in the master
list. There is another guide about keeping chains going and the benefits of
doing that.

The Great Marsh [GMAR]
**********************
In Diamond and Pearl, certain Pokemon can only be caught in the Great Marsh.

The Great Marsh is the Sinnoh region's version of the Safari Zone. It works the
same way the Safari Zone does in those games except for one glaring difference.

The Pokemon in each area of the Great Marsh change every day. There is no way
to control which Pokemon are in which area. All you can do is see where they
are.

To know which Pokemon are in which area, you must go to the top floor of the
building that allows you to enter the Great Marsh and use the binoculars.
If you see the Pokemon you are looking for, take note of what that area looks
like and then go there. The encounter rates are very low for the rare Pokemon
in the Great Marsh so you must be patient.

If a Pokemon can only be found this way, it has a note in the Master List that
says "when found in Great Marsh".

Evolution Materials [MATR]
**************************
There are 53 evolved and pre-evolved forms of Pokemon that can be obtained
through the use of certain items, whether by simply using the item on the
Pokemon, by trading while the Pokemon holds the item, or by breeding the
Pokemon while they hold the item. This section will detail which Pokemon need
items to evolve and how to get those items.

!!Note!!
In this section I mention "stealing" items from wild Pokemon. This simply
means using either of the moves Thief or Covet to attack the Pokemon while
the attacker is NOT holding an item. This will steal the item 100% of the time
if the wild Pokemon is carrying one. To make stealing simpler, be sure that
your attacker can outspeed and One-Hit-KO your target. KOing is not at all
necessary to steal items, it simply saves time.

King's Rocks.

One can be found in Mossdeep City after receiving HM08 from Steven. Talk to
the kid outside his house and say yes to him to get it.

There are three ways to find an infinite supply of King's Rocks.

In Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, and Pearl, you can steal them from wild
Hariyama.

In Diamond and Pearl, you can steal them from wild Poliwhirl.

Another way is via the Pickup ability, which Zigzagoon, Linoone, Meowth,
Aipom, and Phanpy have.

In Ruby and Sapphire, there is a 1% chance of Pickup finding a King's Rock no
matter what level the Pokemon with Pickup is.

In Emerald, Diamond, and Pearl, there is a 1% chance of Pickup finding a King's
Rock when the Pokemon with Pickup is level 11-30.

The third way is only in Emerald, King's Rocks can be purchased in the Battle
Frontier for 64BP.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, there is no way to gain an infinite supply of
King's Rocks.

Some Pokemon evolve only by nearly maxing out their Happiness. This section
will deal with ways to increase Happiness as quickly as possible.

1) Equip a Soothe Bell
The Soothe Bell can be found in all five GBA games and is an invaluable tool
to evolving Happiness pokemon as quickly as possible.

In Fire Red & Leaf Green it can be found by using the Itemfinder in Pokemon
Tower on the spot where Mr. Fuji stood when you found him while going through
the main story.

In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald it can be found in Slateport City.

The Soothe bell increases the effect of everything that increases a Pokemon's
Happiness points by 1.5x.

2) Walk/Bike around
Each step you take with your target Pokemon in your party goes towards
raising its Happiness. This is the slowest way.

3) Battle with your Pokemon
Winning battles does not increase happiness, but gaining levels does.
Alternatively, you can feed your target Pokemon Rare Candies to speed the
process up a bit. This is the 2nd fastest way.

4) Vitamins
This way is tied with berries as the fastest way, but is not as desirable
because you can only feed a Pokemon a finite number of vitamins, and you can
mess up your Pokemon's EVs this way if you don't keep track of what you are
doing.

Simply feed your Pokemon any of these items and its happiness will increase:
-HP Up
-Iron
-Carbos
-Zinc
-Calcium
-Protein

5) Berries
This way is available only in the Emerald version and is by far the fastest
way to evolve your Pokemon. Simply grow a bunch of berries from this list:

#21 Pomeg
#22 Kelpsy
#23 Qualot
#24 Hondew
#25 Grepa
#26 Tamato

and then feed your Pokemon around 10 or 15 of them. After that, either battle
until you gain a level or save the game and feed them one Rare Candy. If they
don't evolve, reset and reload so you haven't wasted a Rare Candy, then feed
a few more berries and try again.

Unlike Vitamins, you can feed your Pokemon berries until their happiness is
completely maxed out whether it will affect EVs or not.

Espeon & Umbreon deserve special mention in this section since they are
unobtainable unless you trade an Eevee from Fire Red or Leaf Green to Ruby,
Sapphire, or Emerald first. THEN you can evolve the Eevee via Happiness.

The reason Eevee cannot evolve into Espeon or Umbreon in Fire Red or Leaf
Green is that those two games do not have a running clock, and thus no "AM"
or "PM" exists in those games. As it says in the master list, time of day
affects which evolution you get. So instead of making it simply random or
doing something to find a way around it, GameFreak decided to make it
impossible to evolve Eevee by happiness unless a running clock is present in
the game.

Also note that in Diamond and Pearl, Budew & Riolu will only evolve during the
day, and Chingling will only evolve during the night.

Attack Knowledge Evolution [KNOW]
*********************************
In Diamond & Pearl, seven Pokemon will only evolve when they know a specific
attack when they level up. All of these moves are learned naturally through
leveling up the Pokemon that needs them to evolve.

They are all noted in the Master List, but I will provide more specific
information in this section.

Aipom evolves into Ambipom when it knows Double Hit at level up.
Aipom learns Double Hit at level 32.

Bonsly evolves into Sudowoodo when it knows Mimic at level up.
Bonsly learns Mimic at level 17.

Lickitung evolves into Lickilicky when it knows Rollout at level up.
Lickitung learns Rollout at level 33.

Mime Jr. evolves into Mr. Mime when it knows Mimic at level up.
Mime Jr. learns Mimic at level 18.

Piloswine evolves into Mamoswine when it knows AncientPower at level up.
Piloswine learns AncientPower when it evolves from Swinub, which occurs at
level 33.

Tangela evolves into Tangrowth when it knows AncientPower at level up.
Tangela learns AncientPower at level 33.

Yanma evolves into Yanmega when it knows AncientPower at level up.
Yanma learns AncientPower at level 33.

When the Pokemon learns its evolution trigger attack, it will evolve
immediately if that attack was learned by level up.

For example, if Aipom reaches level 32, then learns Double Hit, it will
immediately evolve into Ambipom. It will not have to learn the move first and
then level up to 33 in order to evolve.

If you have a Pokemon whose level is higher than the level they learn their
evolution trigger attack, simply use the Move Relearner who is located in
Pastoria City. Give him a Heart Scale, which can be found by digging
underground, and he will teach your Pokemon any of their old moves.

Once you learn the evolution trigger attack via the Move Relearner, you will
have to level up the Pokemon in order to evolve.

Location Evolution [WHER]
*************************
In Diamond and Pearl, four Pokemon can only evolve by leveling up in certain
areas. These areas are listed in the Master List.

The Pokemon can level by battling or by using a Rare Candy. It makes no
difference.

Eevee evolves into Leafeon by leveling up near Moss Rock, which is in the
northwestern corner of Eterna Forest.

Eevee evolves into Glaceon by leveling up near Ice Rock, which is in the
northeastern corner of Route 217.

Magneton evolves into Magnezone by leveling up anywhere inside Mt. Coronet.

Nosepass evolves into Probopass by leveling up anywhere inside Mt. Coronet.

Evolving Tyrogue [HIT3]
***********************
Tyrogue is a pokemon with a very strange evolutionary behavior.

In the 3rd Generation games, to obtain a Tyrogue, you must first either get a
Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan. To do that, simply beat the Fighting Dojo in Saffron
City in Fire Red or Leaf Green. The leader will let you choose one.

After getting Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan, breed one of them with Ditto and a
Tyrogue will hatch from the egg.

In Diamond & Pearl, Tyrogue can be found 12% on Route 208 or 211 Eterna City
side by using the Pokeradar.

When Tyrogue reaches Level 20, the game checks to see the relationship
between his attack and his defense and makes a choice based on that as to
which of his three possible evolutions will happen. This is how the game
makes that choice:

If Attack > Defense, you will get Hitmonlee.
If Defense > Attack, you will get Hitmonchan.
If Attack = Defense, you will get Hitmontop.

From just looking at that, it seems as though it would take a great amount
of luck to ever get a Hitmontop. That thankfully is not the case. All it takes
is some basic knowledge of how stats work and 19 or less Rare Candies and you
will be guaranteed to get the Tyrogue evolution of your choosing.

To understand why this works I need to touch *VERY* briefly on "EVs". Since
this guide is not intended for competitive battling or raising strong
Pokemon, I will not go into great detail. There are other places that have
done that already. I will simply say this:

-EVs are tied to each stat.
-at least one EV is gained every time a Pokemon gains experience.
-at level 100, four EVs will be equal to one stat point.
-each Pokemon you can battle gives a specific type of EV

-Tangela gives 1 Defense EV, and can be found 100% on Route 21 in Fire Red
and Leaf Green.
-Duskull gives 1 Defense EV, and can be found 100% in Mt. Pyre 1F in Ruby.
-Clamperl gives 1 Defense EV, and can be found 65% underwater in Routes 124
and 126 in Sapphire & Emerald. I strongly recommend you use Sweet Scent while
searching for any Pokemon underwater.
-Geodude and Hippopotas both give 1 Defense EV and only those Pokemon can be
found in the Ruin Maniac's Cave in Diamond and Pearl.

-Paras gives 1 Attack EV, and can be found 100% in Mt. Moon B1 in Fire Red and
Leaf Green.
-Shuppet gives 1 Attack EV, and can be found 100% in Mt. Pyre 1F in Sapphire
and Emerald.
-Carvanha gives 1 Attack EV, and can be found 100% by fishing with the Super
Rod on Route 119 in Ruby.
-Gyarados gives 2 Attack EVs, and can be found 100% by fishing with the Super
Rod in Victory Road B1 in Diamond and Pearl.
-Bibarel gives 2 Attack EVs, and can be found 45% at Lake Valor in Diamond
and Pearl.

-Diglett and Dugtrio both give no Attack or Defense EVs and only those Pokemon
can be found in Diglett's Cave in Fire Red and Leaf Green.
-Smeargle gives no Attack or Defense EVs and can be found 100% in Artisan's
Cave in Emerald.
-Zubat, Golbat, Spheal, and Snorunt all give no Attack or Defense EVs and only
those Pokemon can be found in Shoal Cave in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.
-Golbat gives no Attack or Defense EVs and can be found 100% by Surfing in
Victory Road B1 in Diamond and Pearl.

This information gives us the simple strategy of making Tyrogue into
whichever evolution we choose.
1) Catch a Tyrogue or hatch one from an egg.
2) Save
3) Use the Rare Candies on Tyrogue and see what he will evolve into
4) If it is what you want, great. If not look at its stats before
  resetting the game. Do you need to gain more Attack or more Defense?
5) Reset the game. If you have the right stats for the evolution you want,
  Skip to Step 8.
6) Based on your answer in step 4, fight at least four
  Tangela/Duskull/Clamperl/Geodude/Hippoppotas or four
  Paras/Shuppet/Carvanha or two Gyarados/Bibarel.
7) Repeat steps 2-6 until you evolve into what you want, then reset again if
  you want to save all of your Rare Candies. Otherwise stop here.
8) Go to the place that gives no Attack or Defense EVs and train there until
  Level 20. Your Tyrogue will evolve into what you want.

Evolving Wurmple [BUDU]
***********************
This is more of a note than a Section. Wurmple evolves at Level 7.
It will evolve into either Silcoon or Cascoon by a 50-50 chance.

This is COMPLETELY random. It does not depend on Gender, Time of Day,
Nature, Stats, or anything else.

Each particular Wurmple will always evolve into the same thing. Resetting and
reloading does not change what it will evolve into.

Evolving Mantyke [MTYK]
***********************
Mantyke also has a strange evolution behavior. The only way to evolve Mantyke
into Mantine is to level up Mantyke while you have a Remoraid in your party.

The Remoraid will not disappear, and the stats, gender, or anything else about
the Remoraid are completely irrelevant.

Feebas & Milotic [ARGH]
***********************
The way to catch a Feebas is the most evil thing ever introduced by any
programmer in any Pokemon game ever.

Since you want to fill your Pokedex, it must be done. Here are the facts:

-Feebas cannot be found in Fire Red or Leaf Green.

This is for Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald
---------------------------------------
-Feebas is found in only 6 out of the 400+ tiles of water on Route 119
-In the tiles where it can be found, Feebas is Very Common while using
any rod including the Old Rod.
-The 6 tiles are re-randomized every time the "Trendy Phrase" in Dewford Town
is changed.
-The phrase itself is unimportant, only the fact that it changed will make the
tiles re-randomize.

To be very clear:
!!!THERE IS NO CERTAIN PHRASE THAT MAKES CATCHING FEEBAS EASIER!!!

Your best bet is to get a Pokemon that knows False Swipe and some kind of
sleep-inducing move and put that one in your lead. Now get a Pokemon with Surf
and Waterfall and a bunch of Pokeballs (Great or Ultra or whatever) and you're
set to go Feebas hunting.

Fish five times in each tile of Route 119's water using the Old Rod until you
find a Feebas. When you finally find one, either memorize the tile or just
catch ALOT of them right then and there. I recommend doing both if you can.

To be on the safe side, catch at least one male and one female Feebas and then
rest a bit. The worst is over.

-----------------------------
This is for Diamond and Pearl
-----------------------------
Finding Feebas in Diamond and Pearl is even worse than in Ruby, Sapphire, and
Emerald.

-Feebas is found on only 4 out of the 800+ water tiles in the Basement of
Mt. Coronet.
-In the tiles where it can be found, Feebas is Very Common while using any
rod including the Old Rod
-The 4 tiles are re-randomized every single day.
-There is nothing you can do to stop the tiles from re-randomizing, so you
must search for Feebas in a single day. At the end of each day all the
process of elimination work you do is worthless.

Obviously our strategy is going to be almost the same as it was in Ruby,
Sapphire, and Emerald. The main difference is that you pretty much have to
make sure that you have nothing to do that day and start very early in the
morning. It will take a few hours to search through every tile and if you're
very unlucky you won't find Feebas until the last four tiles.

To find the correct water to search in:
-Fly to Celestic Town
-Set up your party with a good Catcher Pokemon in the lead, and make sure you
have all the HMs in your party for convenience.
-Go east into Mt. Coronet
-Go north and then down the stairs
-Go west and you will be in the basement
-Continue west until you can go north
-Stay next to the wall to your right until you can go down stairs again
-You should see a watery area. I hope you like it here because you'll be
spending a lot of time here. Get to fishing.
-Fish 5 times in a single tile with the Old Rod. If you don't find Feebas
move on.

Catch as many Feebas as you feel like once you find the right tile. Chances
are you'll never have the opportunity to catch wild Feebas again
afterwards.



Now you want to evolve that Feebas into Milotic.

In order to do so, you'll have to nearly max out your Feebas' Beauty stat. The
way to raise contest stats in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald is by making berries
into Pokeblocks and feeding them to your Pokemon. In Diamond and Pearl, you
make berries into Poffins and feed them to your Pokemon. In the Evolution
Materials section is a list of berries that will be most useful in evolving a
Feebas and their locations. Go get some and then grow more. You will need 12
of them in total. Ganlon berries are the best, followed closely by Pamtre.
Don't ever use your last one of the best berry you have. Plant it and
grow more.

Once you have your berries,
In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, start making Pokeblocks in Lilycove City.
In Diamond and Pearl, start making Poffins in Hearthome City.

Once you have your Pokeblocks or Poffins, make sure that your Feebas is one
of these natures for the easiest time evolving it:
-Rash
-Quiet
-Modest
-Mild

These natures will work, but will give you the hardest time:
-Impish
-Careful
-Adamant
-Jolly

All other natures will work, and will be somewhere in the middle as far as
ease of evolution.

After finding a Feebas with your desired nature, it's simple:
-Save
-Feed Feebas all the Pokeblocks or Poffins
-Level Feebas up one time
-What? Feebas is evolving!
-Congratulations! Your Feebas evolved into Milotic!

If Feebas doesn't evolve, reset and reload. Make some better Pokeblocks or
Poffins and try again.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green on Island 7 to the far south are the Tanoby Ruins.
In these ruins only Unown can be caught. Before you can access the ruins, you
must solve the Tanoby Key puzzle which is a bit further north than the ruins.
Once the puzzle is solved, all the chambers will be open and each Unown will
be catchable.

The chambers all have names to distinguish them, and each chamber holds
distinct types of Unown. The names of the chambers are, from left to right:

Rixy (Bottom), Viapois (Top), Scufib, Dilford, Weepth, Liptoo, Monean

Stationary Kecleon [INVI]

In the 3rd Generation games, Kecleon has a disgustingly low encounter rate in
all three versions in which it is catchable. To help with this, there are a
few Kecleon that are just sitting there like Legendaries or Snorlax that you
can battle whenever you want. Of course each battle is one-time only and once
you use up your stationary Kecleon, you're stuck searching the grass the next
time you want to battle one.

Two of them are required to be fought to get through the main story:
-Blocking the way to the Fortree Gym
-Blocking the bridge on Route 120

There are four more that can be battled whenever you like:
-Route 119, west of Fortree, in the alcove below the berries.
-Route 119, west of Fortree, above the northern waterfall, blocking the way
to the Secret Bases in the NW corner.
-Route 120, east of Fortree, blocking the way to the Secret Base by the water
heading to Scorched Slab.
-Route 120, east of Fortree, in the tall grass maze on the West intersection.

Reviving Fossils [FOSL]

There are fossils in every game, and there is also a place to turn those
fossils into Pokemon that you cannot obtain by any other means.

In Ruby and Sapphire, you can choose between the Claw Fossil and the Root
Fossil in the Mirage Tower. These can be brought to life in Rustboro City on
the 2nd floor of the Devon Corporation building.

In Emerald, you can choose between the Claw Fossil and the Root Fossil in the
Mirage Tower. You can get the other fossil in the Desert Underpass after
becoming Champion. These can be brought to life in Rustboro City on the 2nd
floor of the Devon Corporation building.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, you can choose between the Helix Fossil and the
Dome Fossil at Mt. Moon. You also can get the Old Amber in Pewter City. These
can be brought to life on Cinnabar Island.

In Diamond, you can find Skull Fossils by digging underground. You can also
find every type of fossil from the 3rd Generation games by digging underground
after you get the National Dex. These can be brought to life in Oreburgh City
in the Museum.

In Pearl, you can find Armor Fossils by digging underground. You can also find
every type of fossil from the 3rd Generation games by digging underground
after you get the National Dex. These can be brought to life in Oreburgh City
in the Museum.

The Claw Fossil becomes Anorith.
The Root Fossil becomes Lileep.
The Dome Fossil becomes Kabuto.
The Helix Fossil becomes Omanyte.
The Old Amber becomes Aerodactyl.
The Skull Fossil becomes Cranidos.

Legendary Gerbils [DOGZ]

The trio of Entei, Raikou, and Suicune are known as the dogs, cats, etc. The
debate got out of hand and someone called them gerbils. The name basically
stuck. They're gerbils. Whatever.

The difficulty of catching them depends on what games you own.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, only one of the gerbils is obtainable per game.
They will appear randomly in the wild after you obtain the National Dex
based on which starter you choose at the beginning of the game.

-If you choose Bulbasaur as your starter, Entei will be in the wild.
-If you choose Charmander as your starter, Suicune will be in the wild.
-If you choose Squirtle as your starter, Raikou will be in the wild.

Your best choice for catching it would be to use your Master Ball, but if
you've already used it you'll need some other help. Since Entei and Raikou
both know Roar when you are trying to catch them, they will need more attention
than Suicune to catch. Because of this, I have split this part up into a
Suicune strategy followed by one for Entei & Raikou.

---
Follow this for Suicune only!

-get a male Ledyba and a female Spinarak. Both are available in both
Fire Red and Leaf Green.
-Level Ledyba until it learns Baton Pass
-Breed the Ledyba with Spinarak
-Level the new Spinarak until it evolves into Ariados
-Continue to level Ariados to level 49, being sure to learn Spider Web

Another option is to let an Eevee learn Baton Pass by level, then evolve it
to an Umbreon to learn Mean Look, but that requires trading to either Ruby,
Sapphire, or Emerald to make the evolution happen.

Either way, this Pokemon is called the Trapper.

Now follow this:
-get a male scyther and female Paras
-Level Scyther until it learns False Swipe
-Breed the Scyther with Paras
-Level Paras to 100, evolving to Parasect and being sure to learn Spore
-If you want to be safer, use TM32 and teach Parasect Double Team

Two other options from other versions are a similar Breloom and Smeargle.

Either way, this Pokemon is called the Catcher.

Now buy a bunch of Super Repels. Max Repels are not needed, but normal Repels
are not good enough.

Go to the Vermillion City side of Diglett's Cave. Enter the cave and
immediately exit. Use a Super Repel with your Trapper in the first position in
your party. Run over to Route 11 and run around in the grass until the repel
wears off. Go back into Diglett's Cave and repeat.

Within 50 tries you should encounter your beast. Use Spider Web immediately,
then Baton Pass to your Catcher. Follow normal capture procedure with Spore
and False Swipe. Keep tossing those Ultra Balls and you'll get it without
trouble.

This is just to note that the strategy for catching Entei or Raikou will
of course work well on Suicune, but is not recommended.

Follow this for Entei or Raikou!

Roar is a tough move to deal with on a running Pokemon. If you wasted your
Masterball on something else you're in for some serious problems, especially
if you don't have access to Emerald.

If you do have access to Emerald, things will be a little easier on you.
Put together this Pokemon:

Jolly - 252 Speed EV, split other EVs between Def, Sp.Def, & HP

You can't use Repels because Smeargle is too high a level, so you'll have to
do this:

-Enter Diglett's Cave
-Exit Diglett's Cave
-Go East to Route 11 and fight 5 random battles
-If you don't find your beast, enter Diglett's Cave and repeat.

Here is how the strategy works:
-Brightpowder makes your opponent have a greater chance of missing you, so
Roar can possibly not work if he chooses it.
-Mean Look on the first turn to stop him from running.
-Ingrain on the second turn to completely stop Roar from working.
-Spore & False Swipe until he is asleep with 1 HP.
-Throw balls, using healing items if necessary.

If you do not have access to Emerald, your luck does not have to increase, only
your work.

First get a Trapper as described in the Suicune strategy.

Now your Catcher is limited to one choice:
Lv. 100 Electrode with Soundproof ability
Sonicboom
Flash
Double Team
Thunder Wave

I advise leveling your Trapper high enough to outspeed your target and then
using the same encounter strategy as for the Smeargle above.

Here is how the battle work:
-Since Brightpowder is not available in Fire Red or Leaf Green, give your
Trapper a Lax Incense, which will give you a chance of keeping your target
from Roaring you away.
-Mean Look on the first turn.
-Baton Pass to Electrode on the second turn.
-Double Team & Flash if you want to, this is purely optional.
-Thunder Wave for Paralysis.
-The strategy now splits as follows due to the variations in HP between the two
-For Entei, Sonicboom exactly eight times. If you use Sonicboom a ninth time,
you will have a 20 in 31 chance of Entei NOT fainting. Eight Sonicbooms will
never faint a Wild Lv. 50 Entei.
-For Raikou, Sonicboom exactly seven times. If you use Sonicboom an eighth
time, you will have a 10 in 31 chance of Raikou NOT fainting. Seven Sonicbooms
will never faint a Wild Lv. 50 Raikou.

-Throw balls, using healing items if necessary.

Of course both strategies hinge on either your target not using Roar on the
first turn or your hold item helping to make Roar miss on the first turn. Once
you make it to the second turn, you have basically caught your beast.

In Pokemon Colosseum, all three gerbils are available to catch as Shadow
Pokemon. You have infinite chances to catch all Shadow Pokemon in that game,
so if you own that, it will make catching these things far easier.

Random Dragons [LATI]

In Sapphire, Latias is catchable.
In Ruby, Latios is catchable.
In Emerald, one of your choosing is catchable.

In Emerald, after beating the Elite Four for the first time you will see a TV
broadcast mentioning a colored dragon, but the color will not come through
right. When your mom asks you the color you can choose RED or BLUE.
-If you choose RED, Latias will be in the wild.
-If you choose BLUE, Latios will be in the wild.

The Lati will only appear after you have beaten the Elite Four in any version.

Catching your Lati is very similar to catching your gerbil. I highly recommend
using the Master Ball here.

If you didn't, a similar strategy to the one above applies. However, unless
you are playing Emerald you don't have access to Spinarak, and you also cannot
get an Eevee without access to Fire Red or Leaf Green. So a "not as good"
method is needed here.

I recommend a Crobat with Mean Look and a weak attack like Astonish or Bite.
Another option is a Wobbuffet since it has the Shadow Tag ability.
Once you have these Pokemon, simply use normal catching routines of using weak
moves on your target, then throwing balls.

To encounter your Lati, one foolproof method is:
-FLY (not walk) to Lilycove City
-Go West to Route 121 and fight 5 random battles
-If your Lati doesn't show, FLY back to Lilycove repeat.

Another foolproof method is:
-Enter the house heading to the bike path just north of Slateport City
-Exit to Route 110 and fight 5 random battles
-If your Lati doesn't show, enter the house and repeat.

There is also the matter of Southern Island, which can only be reached via
the Eon Ticket, which is an E-Reader card. There you will find your other Lati
sitting still like a good little legendary, and it will be holding a Soul Dew.

There was a tour around the US at Toys R Us locations that ran from
July 19, 2003 to September 1, 2003 where Eon Tickets were given out.

up to the surface.

Go to the back of the room and read the braille, then use Dig which will make
a door open. Continue on.

In Ruby or Sapphire:
Put Relicanth in front of your party and Wailord last. Read the braille in
the middle of the room. An earthquake will unlock all the doors to the Regis.

In Emerald:
Put Wailord in front of your party and Relicanth last. Read the braille in
the middle of the room. An earthquake will unlock all the doors to the Regis.

Groudon.

In Emerald, they are hidden a bit differently.

Anytime after each one is released, you can go to the second floor of the
Weather Institute on Route 118 where the scientist will tell you about
either severe sun or severe rain in a certain place.

The routes are randomly chosen from:
-Route 105
-Route 125
-Route 127
-Route 129

and are on an undetermined time limit. Once you are told where the severe
weather is, immediately go to that Route and search for the cave.

In sunlight, Groudon's Cave is somewhere on land.
In rain, Kyogre's Cave is somewhere underwater, so Dive is needed.

Obtaining Mew [MEW1]

In Emerald, a Nintendo event can give you access to the Old Sea Map, which
will allow you to go to Faraway Island and there you can capture a Mew.

On September 30, 2006, Toys R Us held a giveaway where you could obtain Mew.

These are the only known legit ways of obtaining a Mew.

Obtaining Lugia [EXDE]
**********************
In Fire Red and Leaf Green, Lugia can be caught on Island 8 which you can get
to by having the Mystery Ticket. The Mystic Ticket can only be obtained
through a Nintendo Event.

In Pokemon XD, Master Greevil will use a Shadow Lugia against you which you
can catch. In order to purify it and thus allow you to trade it, you must
have all nine of the purification chambers running at maximum tempo. Once you
have that, put Lugia in the middle and it will be instantly purified and able
to be traded to any of your GBA games.

In order to get to maximum tempo, you must arrange the Pokemon in a way such
that each one of Pokemon's types is super effective to the next one. Here is
one example of a 9-Chamber Maximum Tempo set. If you set your chambers up like
this, you will be able to purify Shadow Lugia.

Chamber 1: Poliwrath > Aron > Pineco > Weepinbell
Chamber 2: Vulpix > Spinarak > Seedot > Shellder
Chamber 3: Zubat > Makuhita > Phanpy > Spheal

Another option comes from the fact that there is an infinite supply of
catchable Hoppip in XD. If you don't want to have to think about putting the
chambers together, simply catch 36 Hoppip and then put four in every chamber.
The Flying type being super effective to the Grass type will add to the tempo
for every chamber and max it out, thus making you able to purify Shadow Lugia.

Obtaining Ho-oh [COLO]

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, Ho-oh can be caught on Island 8 which you can get
to by having the Mystic Ticket. The Mystery Ticket can only be obtained
through a Nintendo Event.

In Pokemon Colosseum, first catch and purify all 48 Shadow Pokemon and
complete the main story. Once that is completed, if you compete in Mt. Battle
in Colosseum Mode using your party from story mode and defeat all 100
trainers, Ho-oh will be sent directly to your PC ready to be traded.

Only one Ho-oh may be obtained per game save.

Obtaining Celebi [OJAA]
***********************
Celebi was given out at a Nintendo Event called Journey Across America. Thus
far that is the only legit way to have Celebi in America.

The only other way for an American to get Celebi without a cheating device is
to have a Japanese version of Pokemon Colosseum, and the Japanese Colosseum
Bonus Disk, and a Japanese version of any GBA Pokemon game along with either
a Japanese Gamecube or something to allow Japanese games to run on an
American Gamecube.

Next you must catch and purify all 48 Shadow Pokemon and complete the main
story in the Japanese version of Colosseum. Also get the GBA game to at least
where you can trade. Once that is complete you will be able to use the Bonus
Disk to get Celebi in Colosseum. Now trade Celebi into your Japanese GBA game,
then trade from that to your American GBA game.

Sounds like a lot of work and money for one Pokemon, eh?

Personally I'm fine with having that hole in my Pokedex.

Obtaining Jirachi [COLB]

Jirachi can be obtained using the Pokemon Colosseum US Bonus Disk that
people in America got for pre-ordering the game. It is currently available
on eBay.

Transferring Jirachi to your GBA game does not require catching all 48 Shadow
Pokemon, or even owning Pokemon Colosseum at all. All that is needed is the
Bonus Disk, a GBA to GCN link cable, and one free space in your GBA game's
party.

First, in your GBA game, save in a Pokemon Center with one empty space in your
party, from there Jirachi will be transferred directly to your party in either
Ruby or Sapphire by connecting the GBA to the GCN and selecting "Special Gift
Jirachi" on the main screen of the Bonus Disk.

Note that this does NOT work when using Fire Red, Leaf Green, or Emerald.
Also note that only one Jirachi can be transferred per game save.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, Deoxys can be caught on Island 9 which you can
get to by having the Aurora Ticket.
In Emerald the island can be accessed the same way, however, it is called
Birth Island. They are exactly the same place.

The Aurora Ticket can only be obtained through a Nintendo Event.

Aurora Tickets were given away during the Pokemon Rocks America Tour that
ran in 2004.

If you happen to have a legit Aurora Ticket, catching Deoxys is still a bit of
a chore. You must follow the triangle around the island until you can finally
battle Deoxys. If you follow these steps exactly you will be able to battle him

01) Approach the triangle from the bottom and press A
02) Press left 5 times, down 1 time, press A
03) Press right 5 times, up 5 times, press A

any means in any game.

Unfortunately, as of now Darkrai cannot be obtained through any legit means
whatsoever outside of Japan. Do not ask me for AR codes or anything similar.
Until a Nintendo Event is held to either give out Darkrai or give out the
Members Pass which gives access to Darkrai's event, there is no such thing as
Darkrai outside of Japan.

In order to catch some Pokemon you are required to go fishing.

In Fire Red and Leaf Green, fishing is a simple matter of getting the Rod and
using it on water.

Good Rod  - Fuschia City
Super Rod - Route 12 inside a house

In Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, and Pearl, fishing is a bit more involved
and annoying.

You get the Rod, use it on water, then watch the dots for a few seconds.
When it says "Oh! A bite!" you have to press A one time. Then you'll either
get into a battle or have to watch the dots again and repeat.

Here are the Rod locations in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald:
Old Rod   - Dewford Town
Good Rod  - Route 118, across the water from Mauville City
Super Rod - Mossdeep City

Here are the Rod locations in Diamond and Pearl:
Old Rod   - Route 218
Good Rod  - Route 209
Super Rod - Fight Area after getting National Dex

Safari Zone Areas [SFRI]

The Fire Red and Leaf Green areas of the Safari Zone are numbered, but the only
way to tell which area you are in in-game is to read the signs which is not
only annoying but wastes your steps. This will tell you quickly how to get to
each area.

This will assume you've already been through once and gotten Surf, because if
you haven't gotten Surf yet you'll need to anyway to progress in the game.

Entrance - You start here
Area 1 - Go East from Entrance, or Southeast from Area 2
Area 2 - Go North from Entrance, Northwest from Area 1, or North from Area 3
Area 3 - Go West from Entrance, or Southwest from Area 2


In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the areas are much easier to understand, but
for the sake of completeness I will explain them here. Note that the Extension
Area is only available in Emerald and only opens after becoming Champion.

Entrance - You start here
West Area - go West from Entrance
Mach Bike Area - There is a slope in the Safari Zone that you can only pass
                using the Mach Bike. Pass that slope and go to the next area.
Acro Bike Area - There are bars in the Safari Zone that you can only cross by
                using the Acro Bike's jump (Press a direction and B at the
                same time). Pass the bars and go to the next area.
Extension Area - Go East from Entrance.

Version 3.0  - 9/10/07: Finished Master List! Removed counts section since it
                       is no longer valid. Added all new special sections that

                       Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus sections. This is the
                       version to be submitted for listing in the D/P FAQs

Version 3.1  - 9/17/07: Pal Park, Time of Day, Insertion, Swarms, and

                       continue to be filled.

Version 3.2 - 9/24/07: Time of Day, Great Marsh, Attack Knowledge, Location
