3.1.b | Basic Dungeon Movement
===============================================================================
Each dungeon is split up into floors. Every floor is split up into rooms and
hallways. Each of these are split up into tiles or squares. Every Pokemon moves
from square to square while navigating. The layout of two dungeon floors are
never the same.
Begin by using the control pad to move. You can move horizontally, vertically,
or diagonally. If you come to a terrain that you are not compatible with, you
cannot cross there.
The object, usually, is to find the stairs. The stairs allows you to get from
the current floor you are on to the next floor in the dungeon. Most often, the
object of an exploration is to reach the stairs on every floor of the dungeon
until the end is reached. The stairs are their own square.
3.1.c | Dungeon Map
===============================================================================
Every dungeon floor comes with a map of that floor. The map is filled in as the
player moves throughout the floor, or you can use a Luminous Orb to reveal the
entire map.
Key -
Flashing White Dot - Leader - The Pokemon that the player controls.
Yellow Dot - Partner/Ally - Your partner or a recruited ally.
Red Dot - Enemy Pokemon
Large Blue Dot - Item
Small Blue Dot - Wonder Tile
Blue Square - Stairs
Red X - Traps - A tile that appears when stepped on. Has a negative effect.
3.1.d | Items and Wonder Tiles
===============================================================================
If something else is in a square, then you can most likely interact with it.
Sometimes it will be an item. Items can be found all across the floor, usually
in rooms. To pick up an item, cross over the square it is in. If there is
enough space in your Treasure Bag (obtained from Wigglytuff in Chapter 2) then
you will put the item in your Treasure Bag. Then, go to the items menu to find
that item.
There are several different actions you can do with items depending on the
item.
Use - If it's a Wonder Orb, this will activate its effects.
Eat - If it's a food item you can eat it.
Hurl - If it's a projectile, you can throw it.
Give - This will give it to a teammate as a hold item.
Place - This will place the item on the square you are standing on.
Swap - If there is another item on the square you are standing on, you can
swap it with another item in your bag.
Throw - You can throw any item across the room or at a Pokemon.
Info - Gives you a description of the item.
You may also find a square with a tile that has an up arrow on it. This is a
Wonder Tile. When battle stats get reduced, you can revert them back to normal
here. You will know when you have a stat loss if you have a down arrow above
your head.
3.1.e | Battling
===============================================================================
Another thing you might find on a square is an another Pokemon. Most likely,
this Pokemon will be hostile and want to fight.
There are three ways to fight: With a normal attack, a move, or an item. The
normal attack is performed by pressing A. This is a very low power attack that
can be performed as many times as you would like. Moves are known by all
Pokemon and will be the main way you fight. Moves deal more damage and there
are a variety of them. Each move has certain attributes:
PP - Power Points: Each move has a specific number of these points. Every time
the move is used, one Power Point is lost. When all of the points are gone,
the move can no longer be used. Power points can be refilled using the
Max Elixir item.
Power - Moves that deal damage have a certain power to them.
Accuracy - Each move has a percentage of whether or not it will hit the target.
Critical Hit Rate - Each damaging move has a chance of scoring a critical hit,
boosting its power level by x1.5. The Critical Rate is the percentage this will
happen.
Range - The Range of the move is exactly where the move will hit on the floor.
See Move Ranges in the tutorial section for more info.
Finally, items can be used to damage Pokemon as well, such as projectiles that
are thrown at enemies.
Every Pokemon has HP as well. HP, or Hit Points, are the points that determine
the Pokemon's life force. When you attack a Pokemon, and the move connects,
they will lose some hit points. When all hit points are lost, that Pokemon will
be Knocked Out.
Every time you knock out a Pokemon, you gain experience points. Gain enough
points and you will level up. Leveling up means you get a boost in your stats
and possibly learn a new move. You will gain more experience if you use a move
on a Pokemon then just regular attacks.
3.1.f | Move Ranges
===============================================================================
Each move has a specific range. The range of a move determines where the move
will hit in the dungeon floor relative to the Pokemon using the move.
Ranges -
1 Square - The move hits the Pokemon in the square directly in front of it.
2 Square - The move hits the Pokemon two squares from it.
10 Square Line - The move hits the first Pokemon in a ten square line directly
in front of the Pokemon.
Room - The move hits all enemies of allies in the room plus one square into
any hallways.
Cuts Corners - The move hits the Pokemon one square diagonally in front, even
if the Pokemon is hiding behind the corner of the wall.
8 Square - The move affects the eight squares that directly surround the user.
Floor - The move affects the entire floor.
3.1.g | Hunger
===============================================================================
As you navigate through the dungeon, you will gradually lose hunger points.
Hunger points can be checked by going to the menu in dungeons. Every 10 steps
you take, you will lose one point. If all hunger points are lost, then your
HP will start to decline. You will lose one HP every turn.
Warning Signs for Hunger:
Points | Message
-----------------------------------------------
19 | "Getting hungry..."
|
9 | "Getting dizzy from hunger..."
|
0 | "Oh no. Your Belly's empty!"
| "Hurry! You've got to eat something"
| "You'll faint from hunger!"
After that, the HP decline will start. Any food item can be eaten to
reverse this effect. Apples and Big Apples were created to heal hunger
specifically. Apples heal 50 points and Big Apples heal 100. Big Apples can
even increase your base hunger points if eaten on a full belly. Only the
leader can get "Famished" status (the name for the HP depletion). No other
Pokemon lose hunger points unless they eat a Hunger Seed. Then they will be
inflicted with "Hungry Pal" status.
3.1.h | Battle Stats
===============================================================================
Every Pokemon has stats that determine their effectiveness.
-Attack - The amount of power a Physical based move deals.
-Defense - The resistance against Physical based moves that the Pokemon has.
-Sp. Attack - The amount of power a Special based move deals.
-Sp. Defense - The resistance against Special based moves that the Pokemon has.
Every attacking move is either physical based or special based and is affected
by the Attack and Defense stats, or the Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense stats.
Pokemon can have their stats reduced. If Sp. Defense is reduced, that Pokemon
will take more damage from Special based attacks. If Attack increases, then the
Pokemon will deal more damage when attacking with a physical based move.
There are other non-battle stats as well. Accuracy is how often the Pokemon
will succeed in hitting the foe with a move. Speed is how many moves the
Pokemon can have in one turn. Pokemon with double speed can take two actions
per turn. Evasiveness is how well the Pokemon can dodge an attack.
3.1.i | Turns
===============================================================================
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a turn-based RPG. The turn order for battling and
moving in the dungeon is first you, then your partner, any other allies, then
enemy Pokemon.
Some actions require the use of a turn, and other actions can be done as many
times as you want until an action is taken that does require a turn. Remember,
your foe will never move unless you do.
Actions that use a turn:
-Moving
-Using a regular attack or move
-Using an item
-Giving an item to you or your allies
-Interacting with an item on the ground
Actions that don't use a turn:
-Looking in a different direction
-Talking to an ally
-Checking team stats
-Changing game settings
3.1.j | Types
===============================================================================
Every Pokemon and move have their own type out of the 17 types. When a Pokemon
uses a move against a Pokemon, the type of the move and the type of the Pokemon
determine the "Type Effectiveness" of that move, which is described in this
chart:
-------------------------

How to use this chart: Find the type of the move on the vertical axis and the
type of the Pokemon on the horizontal axis. Find the intersecting points on the
chart to find the effectiveness of that move on that Pokemon.
If a move is "Super Effective", then the power of that move will increase by
x1.4. If the move is "Not Very Effective", then the power will be multiplied by
x0.7. If the move is "Little Effective", it is multiplied by 0.5. If there is
no sign in the chart, then the move has a normal effectiveness against the
Pokemon, meaning there is no multiplier.
If a move of a certain type is used by a Pokemon of that same type, then that
move gets a STAB, or Same Type Attack Bonus. The power of that move gets
increased by x1.5.
3.1.k | Missions
===============================================================================
Between parts of the main storyline, missions must be done throughout the game.
Missions are your main source of revenue, items, and experience.
Missions are described at the beginning of the game during your first mission
to help Spoink. After that you must go to the two Bulletin Boards to find
missions that suit your needs. The two boards are the Job Bulletin Board and
the Outlaw Notice Board. The Job Board is the main board where you will find
missions like helping Pokemon and delivering items. The Outlaw Board involves
finding a wanted criminal in a dungeon and taking it down.
When you find a mission you like, select the mission and it will turn red.
However, you must then go into the menu and select "Job List". This will show
you a list of all of the missions you have accepted. To actually take the job,
select the mission on the job list and press "Take Job". The envelope will
open and the mission will be taken.
When looking for missions, you will find a description of the job on the top
screen. The description will look like this:
Job Summary
----------------------------------------------------------
(Description of mission)
Client: (Pokemon offering the job)
Objective: (The main object of the mission)
Place: (The dungeon it is located in)
Restrictions: (The client may want your team a certain way before completing
the job)
Difficulty: (The letter rank displaying difficulty, plus the points given
afterward)
Reward: (The item, cash, or other reward for completing the mission)
Wonder Mail S: (The Wonder Mail Code)
You should look at all of these things before taking a job, especially the
restrictions. While most of the time there are no restrictions, when there are,
it may prevent you from completing a mission.
Another thing is difficulty. While two missions may be in the same dungeon,
their difficulty can differ. For example: all outlaw missions will be 1 level
higher than bulletin board jobs, even if they are in the same dungeon and are
around the same number of floors. You should always look at the difficulty
before accepting a job.
Jobs you take will effect how many explorer points you get. A harder rank nets
you more points. Here is the description of mission ranks to points earned:
Rank | Points Earned
--------------------
E | 10
D | 15
C | 20
B | 30
A | 50
S | 70
*1 | 100
*2 | 200
*3 | 300
*4 | 400
*5 | 500
*6 | 700
*7 | 1000
*8 | 1300
*9 | 1500
--------------------
When taking a job at the Bulletin and Outlaw boards, you may also want to take
a look at the many different kinds of missions. There are many different types
of missions in the game on both boards. While their client, reward, or rank may
be the same, many missions require a certain approach to reach the objective.
These are the many different types of missions:
Job Bulletin Board -
-Rescue - This is the most basic type of mission, where you must go to a
certain floor in the dungeon and find a Pokemon there.
-Search and Rescue - This type of mission does not offer a floor number in the
description, meaning you will have to work your way through the dungeon until
you find the "destination floor".
-Escort - This type of mission forces you to bring along a low level Pokemon
through a dungeon.
-Prospect - This is an escort mission where the client Pokemon wishes to find
an item on a certain floor. The mission must end with the collection of this
item.
-Open the golden chamber! - An escort mission where the Pokemon will open a
secret chamber at the destination floor.
-Delivery - This type involves giving a certain item to a Pokemon on a dungeon
floor.
-Find and Deliver - This type of mission is where you must find an item
on the designated floor, clear the dungeon, and then deliver the item at the
end.
-Challenge - In this type of mission, you are being challenged by another
Pokemon or team. You must go to the destination floor and fight that enemy.
If it is a team, then only the leader must be defeated.
Outlaw Notice Board -
-Arrest - This is the most basic type of outlaw mission. This involves going to
a certain floor in a dungeon and battling a sort-of miniboss.
-Fleeing Pokemon - In the description of the mission, you may see that the
outlaw "keeps running". When you encounter this enemy, it will try to make a
break for the stairs. If it makes it, you failed the mission.
-Boss and Minions - Upon reaching the destination floor, you will encounter the
enemy and all of its minions in a huge monster house! Fortunately, you only
have to take out the leader to end the mission.
-Assist in the arrest - This is an escort mission where you must escort either
Magnazone or Magnimite to the outlaw and defeat it.
-Take back the stolen item - This is the same as the first type, except after
defeating the outlaw, it will drop an item. Pick up that item to end the
mission.
-Find the robber - If the item description states that an item has been stolen,
but does not state who stole it, it is a "Find the Robber" mission. You must
go to the destination floor and search that floor for the enemy that drops the
stolen item.
When you are ready to do your mission, go out to the dungeon entrance at the
crossroads. Dungeons will have an envelope next to them if you have accepted
a mission in that dungeon.
After you have completed a mission, you can leave the dungeon, and accept the
thanks and reward from the client Pokemon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2 | Shops and the Guild
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2.a | Treasure Town
===============================================================================
Treasure Town is the area where you will spend the majority of your time
shopping and interacting with other Pokemon. Treasure Town is a lively place
with a lot of things to do, mainly using the services located here.
Kecleon Shop -
The Kecleon Shop is the main shop in the game. You can buy most of the items
you need for dungeons here. There are two Kecleon. The younger Kecleon (the
purple one on the right) sells Wares. Wares are TMs and Orbs. The other Kecleon
on the left sells just about everything else. You can buy and sell many
essential items here. Always make a stop here before a dungeon.
Kangaskhan Storage -
The Kangaskhan Storage is where you can store any of the items you acquire
throughout the game. If you go into a dungeon and faint, you can lose half of
your items. If they are stored, however, they are safe.
The number of items that can be stored is determined by your Explorer Rank.
Each time your rank goes up, you gain more storage space.
Rank | Storage Space
------------------------
Normal | 64
---------|-----
Bronze | 96
---------|-----
Silver | 200
---------|-----
Gold | 320
---------|-----
Diamond | 480
---------|-----
Super | 560
---------|-----
Ultra | 640
---------|-----
Hyper | 800
---------|-----
Master | 1000
Duskull Bank -
The Duskull Bank is where you can store your money. Like with items, you will
lose half of your money if you faint.
Electivire Link Shop -
After Chapter 9, Electivire will open his shop. For 500 Poke a link, he will
let you link any two, three, or all four of your moves together. See the
section on linked moves for more information. Electivire will also let you
relearn any old moves that you have forgotten free of charge.
Xatu Appraisal -
Throughout the game, you may find treasure boxes that you can't open normally.
Xatu will open any of these boxes for 150 each. These boxes can contain many
different items, including specialty items. (See items section)
Chancy Daycare -
Sometimes you will receive eggs from jobs or buying drinks at the Cafe. When
you receive an egg, it will be sent to the Chancy Daycare. After a few days, it
will hatch into a Level 1 Pokemon. It can even have Egg Moves.
Marowak Dojo -
Eventually, Marowak will open up his dojo to the public. He offers free
training mazes. Although you can't bring any items into these mazes, if you
faint, you will keep all the items that you have collected in the maze.
Each maze is five floors with the same Pokemon on each floor. As you go into
new floors, the Pokemon increase in level. The fifth floor of any dungeon has
Pokemon from Level 30-35.
Here is a list of the mazes:
Normal/Flying Maze - Doduo and Staravia
Dark/Fire Maze - Houndour, Magby, and Poochyena
Rock/Water Maze - Omanyte and Kabuto
Grass Maze - Shroomish and Carnivine
Electric/Steel Maze - Magnemite, Mareep, and Mawile
Ice/Ground Maze - Swinub and Phanpy
Fighting/Psychic Maze - Machop and Medtite
Poison Bug Maze - Spinarak and Skorupi
Dragon Maze - Bagon
Ghost Maze - Misdrevus
Explorers Maze - If you have downloaded a team in the top menu, you can battle
them in this maze.
3.2.b | Wigglytuff's Guild
===============================================================================
The Wigglytuff Guild is the training ground for your exploration team. The Job
Bulletin and Outlaw Notice Boards are here, as well as your bed where you can
save your game. There are boards with helpful tips on exploring here, but you
can also talk to your fellow apprentices and the many exploration teams that
cycle through here every day.
There are also two services located here:
Chimecho Assembly - During Chapter 4, Chimecho will call you over to her now
established Assembly. Here, you can manage your teammates that you have
recruited. (See recruiting Pokemon)
Crogunk Swap Shop - During Chapter 6, Crogunk will open his swap shop. When
you find Specialty items in Treasure Boxes, you can swap them for better ones
for 150 Poke. (See items section)
3.2.c | Spinda's Cafe
===============================================================================
During Chapter 6, a new shop will open in the crossroads. This is Spinda's
Cafe. There are two separate shops in the Cafe: the juice bar and the Recycle
Shop.
Spinda's Juice Bar -
Spinda will gladly take any food item you have and turn it into a fresh
squeezed juice drink. While Apple juice and juice from berries have no affect
on you, juice from Gummis enhance their effect. Not only do they raise IQ, but
they raise a stat too. Sometimes, Spinda will create a good drink or even a
"miracle drink" which has an added bonus. Drinking at the juice bar can even
win over the admiration of a fellow Pokemon and make it want to join your team.
Sometimes you might get an egg. If at the bottom of your glass there is the
word "winner", you are granted access to an explored dungeon.
Recycle Shop -
Wynaut and Wobboffet run the Recycle Shop. There you can trade in items from
your storage to get better items. An example of a trade is one Oran Berry for
two apples. You can also trade for Prize Tickets. If you decide to exchange the
Prize Ticket, you will either win big, normal, small, or lose. You will earn
certain items depending on your win. There will be special offers like Proteins,
Carbos, Irons, etc. that are offered at the Shop for a limited time.
Eventually, Spinda will announce Project P. Occasionally, Wynaut will tell you
that Project P has found a new dungeon or treasure. This will unlock that
dungeon for you to explore.
Another thing to note: if there is a Pokemon standing by the entrance to
your left, they will offer you a job request.
3.2.d | In-Dungeon Shops
===============================================================================
Kecleon Shop -
Kecleon often set up shop in a dungeon. The space designated for their shop is
the carpet laid down on the dungeon floor. Any items that are on this carpet
belong to Kecleon and must be paid for. Take an item and exit the carpet space.
Kecleon will warp to you and ask that you pay for the item. You can also sell
items by placing them on open carpet squares.
Alternatively, you can steal from the Shop. If you take an item and don't pay
for it, the item is technically yours... if you can make it out of the dungeon
alive! Kecleon will mark you as a criminal and come after you. HE IS VERY
STRONG!! He is at an extremely high level, always moves at double speed, and
will call friends to help him out. This is, however, the only way to recruit
Kecleon. You must be at level 100 and have the Golden Mask equipped, and have
the Fast-Friends IQ Skill. Your stats must be ridiculously high to even stand
a chance against the army of Kecelon. So, in short, DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY READY, which will most likely be long after you have
completed everything in the game after the main story and the post story.
Secret Bazaar -
Right before the expedition, Digglet will tell you about Secret Bazaars.
Sometimes, while exploring a dungeon floor, you may find a secret set of stairs
that pop out of nowhere. This will lead you to the Secret Bazaar. There are
several handy shops here at the Bazaar.
Swalot - Swalot will sell the player Grab bags for 100 Poke. Grab bags contain
a random item in them.
Mime Jr. - For 100 Poke, Mime Jr. will heal your HP, PP, and Belly.
Lickilicky - If any items have become sticky during the exploration, Lickilicky
will clean them for 100 Poke.
Shedinja - For 100 Poke, Shedinja will let you escape the dungeon with your
items and money intact.

IQ Skills are the various abilities that Pokemon can gain by increasing their
IQ. To increase IQ, Pokemon must eat Gummis. Each Gummi has a specific Pokemon
type that it is most compatible with.

Pokemon IQ is measured by the number of stars the Pokemon has. When the Pokemon
eats a Gummi, their IQ may go up a half of a star. When Pokemon go up in IQ,
they gain new IQ Skills.
The IQ skill each Pokemon has is based on that Pokemon's IQ Group. Every
Pokemon is assigned an IQ Group. The skills found in each group become known by
the Pokemon when they have gained the stars required to learn that skill. A
Pokemon can only learn the IQ skills in its group.
Most IQ skills can be turned off and on. Go into the Team menu and select
"Check IQ". Uncheck skills that you don't want on that teammate. Skills that
cannot be turned off are essential to exploration.
For more info on IQ Groups, see the Appendix Section.
3.3.b | Linking Moves
===============================================================================
Linking moves means using two different moves on the same turn. The
Electivre Link Shop, which opens in Chapter 6, allows you to link moves for 500
Poke. Linked moves will be used in a dungeon in the order in which they were
linked. They remain linked only until the move with the least amount of PP runs
out. Then they will be de-linked and must be linked again. You can link as
many moves as you want, even all four. Use of linked moves gives you more
experience points, but makes your belly run out faster.
Linked Move Example
Move #1 PP
------------------------
Move #2 PP
------------------------
Move #3 PP
------------------------
Move #4 PP
If you want to link move one and two, go to move one and select "Link" (or
press L+A).
Move #1 PP
Move #2 PP
------------------------
Move #3 PP
------------------------
Move #4 PP
Each move will still have its separate PP and will lose one PP when used. Now,
move one will be used, and then move two will be used on the same turn.
If you wanted to link move four and move two, go to move four and select R+/\
(Up). This will switch the position of moves four and three, making move four
higher on the list. Then, go to move two and select link.

Move #2 PP
------------------------
Move #4 PP
------------------------
Move #3 PP
\/
Move #1 PP

Move #2 PP
Move #4 PP

Move #3 PP
Usually, linked moves would be a move that lowers the defense of the foe or
raises the attack of the user, and then an attacking move. These links are
very effective, for they weaken the foe and damage them at the same time.
Moves can also be linked with a Link Box for free. This is a one time usage
item and does not have the other services provided by the Electivre Link Shop.
3.3.c | Monster Houses
===============================================================================
Around Chapter 10, you may start to walk in to Monster Houses. Monster Houses
can be dangerous, terrifying, and especially annoying. However, it is more than
possible to get through one of these, and you most likely will at some point.
There is no sure fire way to get through a house. It truly depends on the
Pokemon inside of the house, and the layout of the room. You can use all of
these to your advantage, but unfortunately, your numerous enemies can use it
for theirs as well.
Here are some quick tips for conquering Monster Houses:
-Stand in the hallway. This way, you will only have to be facing 1-3 Pokemon
at a time instead of 6-8.
-Use a move that damages all the foes in the room. This is a godsend for any
monster house, but just make sure your type match-ups are in order.
-Use a Foe-Fear Orb. Orbs can still be used in monster houses. The Foe-Fear
Orb inflicts all of the Pokemon in the room with terrified status, so they
will quickly disperse from the room.
-Use an Escape Orb! If all else fails, then use an escape orb and get out of
there!
3.3.d | Recruiting Pokemon
===============================================================================
During Chapter 4, Chimecho will call you over and tell you that she has just
opened the Assembly where you can manage team members you have recruited. From
that point on, you will be able to recruit Pokemon from dungeons.
Many factors have to be involved in recruiting Pokemon. The Leader must deliver
the final blow and must be standing one square adjacent from the Pokemon. Also,
the team must be able to fit the Pokemon (see Team Sizes). Every Pokemon has a
Recruitment Percentage that determines whether it will be recruited or not.
Once a Pokemon is defeated, it may ask if it wants to be part of your team.
Many Pokemon cannot be recruited in dungeons either because it appears in a
dungeon where Pokemon cannot be recruited, it is recruited from a mission or
egg, or it must be evolved from another Pokemon.
You can increase a Pokemon's recruit rate. If your level is high enough, you
will get a bonus.
Level | Bonus
--------------
0-29 | 0%
30-39 | 5%
40-49 | 7.5%
50-59 | 10%
60-69 | 12.5
70-79 | 15%
80-89 | 17.5%
90-100 | 24%
You can also have the leader equip the Golden Mask or Amber Tear. This will
give you a higher recruit rate.
3.3.e | Tactics
===============================================================================
As your ally Pokemon level up, they will gain more dungeon tactics. Tactics are
certain actions that you can set for your allies to fit a certain situation.
Tactic | Level | Effect
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's go together | 1 | The Pokemon will stay with the leader.
| |
Go after foes | 1 | The Pokemon will go towards and battle any enemy
| | it sees.
| |
Avoid the first hit | 1 | The Pokemon will try to get away from enemies.
| | If one approaches, however, the Pokemon will
| | attack.
| |
Wait there | 10 | The Pokemon will not move or attack.
| |
Get away from here | 15 | Gives the Pokemon Terrified status, making it
| | run away from the battle.
| |
You go the other way | 20 | The Pokemon will go in a different direction
| | from the leader.
| |
Be patient | 30 | The Pokemon will stop moving if its HP gets
| | below 50%.
| |
Avoid trouble | 35 | The Pokemon will run away from enemies if its HP
| | gets below 50%.
3.3.f | Team Sizes
===============================================================================
Each team can consist of four Pokemon at one time. However, each Pokemon has a
size indicated by stars. Every team can have up to 6 stars.
* + * + * + * = 4 Stars - the smallest four Pokemon team.
** + ** + * + * = 6 Stars - the largest four Pokemon team.
**** + * + * + * = 7 Stars - a team that cannot go into dungeons.
3.3.g | Weather
===============================================================================
There are several types of weather that can have a major effect on your team.
Weather | Effect
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunny | Increases the power of Fire-Type moves by 1.5.
| Decreases the power of Water-Type moves by half.
| Lets the move Solar Beam be used without having to charge.
| The ability Chlorophyll comes into effect.
|
Rain | Increases the power of Water-Type moves by 1.5.
| Decreases the power of Fire-Type moves by half.
| Negates the effect of Selfdestruct and Explosion.
| The move Thunder will have 100% Accuracy.
|
Hail | All Pokemon on the floor, except Ice-Type Pokemon take 3 damage
| every 10 turns.
|
|
Sandstorm | All Pokemon on the floor, except Ground, Rock, Steel, and Pokemon
| with the Sand Veil ability take three damage every 10 turns.
| In addition, Pokemon with the Sand Veil ability have their
| evasiveness increased by 2.
|
Fog | Electric Type attacks deal 1/2 less damage
|
Cloudy | All moves except Normal-Type moves deal 1/4 less damage.
|
Snow | Ice-Type Pokemon have their speed increased by 1.

IV (4) | Main Storyline</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
===============================================================================
Before you start the game, you will take a Personality Test. This test will
determine the Pokemon you will play as in the game. You will be asked eight
quesitions that will determine your Pokemon's nature. For more information,
look to the Personality Quiz section in the Appendix. Then you will be asked to
place your thumb on the touch screen to determine your "aura". This will be
explained later.
Now, its time to jump right into the game!!
4.1 | Chapter 1 - A Storm at Sea
===============================================================================
After taking the personality test, you will finally begin your game. You will
hear two voices struggling to hold on...
Then, a violently stormy night...
A lone Pokemon collapsed on the beach...
The scene will switch to a Pokemon confronting a building. He wants to go
inside, but he can't seem to muster up the courage. This is your partner, the
Pokemon that will be assisting you in the game. He takes out a rock with a
strange inscription on it. This is the Relic Fragment, your partner's most
prized possession. He hoped the Fragment would give him courage to go in, but
it didn't. When your partner leaves, two Pokemon, a Koffing and a Zubat,
appear. They hear about the Relic Fragment and go after the possible treasure.
Your partner goes to the beach to cool off, but then finds the Pokemon on the
beach. This is you. You wake up to find you are now a Pokemon and have no
memories of anything except you were a human! You can now put in your name.
Then, the two Pokemon from before attack your partner, steal his Relic
Fragment, and go into the cave behind you. Your partner really wants his
Fragment back, but he is too afraid to go in by himself. So offer your
assistance and get ready for the first dungeon of the game!!!

===============================================================================
This is mostly a tutorial dungeon. When you enter each floor and pick up items,
you will get a few hints. The Pokemon in here are fairly weak. You should have
at least one damaging move that will 1-hit KO most Pokemon in here. There are
some Kabuto that will take a few hits because of there Rock-Type. You don't
have anything to carry items in, so you can only hold one item.

The fifth floor is the pit of the cave, and there you will find Zubat and

Fragment without a fight. So prepare yourself for the first boss!
_______________________________________________________________________________
| | Boss: | |
| | Koffing and Zubat | |
===============================================================================
This is mainly a boss tutorial. Zubat is the weakest and should be down in a
few hits. Koffing has about 30 HP, but with you and your partner's combined
attacks, he should go down easily. Nothing to worry about here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Koffing and Zubat admit defeat and give back your partner's Fragment. He thanks
you for all your help and you leave the dungeon.
Outside, your partner explains his why his Relic Fragment is so important to
him. He wants to be an explorer, and he was trying to join the famous
Wigglytuff's Guild of explorers, but he didn’t have the courage. Then he asks
what you're going to do. With no memory or clue to why you’re a Pokemon, what
can you do? Your partner makes a suggestion: Why not join him in an exploration
team? Say YES!!!!
4.2 | Chapter 2 - The New Guild Recruits
===============================================================================
You and your partner approach the strangely foreboding building. This is the
Wigglytuff Guild. To become an official exploration team, you need to get
registered here. The first step is to get in. Your partner will stand on the
grate to get detected by a strange voice. Now it’s your turn. When you step
on... uh oh, it looks like whoever that voice belongs to is having a hard time
identifying you. Oh well. The gate opens and you walk inside.
Inside, you will be greeted by Chatot, the Guild's second-in-command. Chatot
will bring you down to the second floor and have your team registered. It's
finally time to meet Wigglytuff. He's a little odd, but you'll get used to him.
Now its time to pick your team name. You can always change it if you want. And
now... you and your partner are now an official exploration team!!! You'll get
an Exploration Team Kit. It has all the things you need to be a success,
including a bow that was chosen specifically for you depending on your aura.
You will get your own room. That night, you think about what has happened so
far. Will these questions ever get answered? Better sleep on it.
The next morning, you will get woken up by the obnoxiously loud Loudred. You
and your partner join the morning briefings. Wigglytuff joins the Guild too...
or not. He seems to be asleep with his eyes open. After announcements, Chatot
brings you to the Job Bulletin Board. Chatot will explain all about missions,
and something about the flow of time getting messed up. We'll get into that
later. Now, its time for your first misson. You must retrieve a pearl from the
Drenched Bluff for a Spoink. It doesn't sound that exciting, but its your
first mission, so no complaining.

Drenched Bluff is home to many Rock-Types. You may not have any other moves
besides Normal-Types yet, but if you do, you may want to use them. Also, now
that you have a Treasure Bag, you can hold up to 16 items. Every time you pick
up a new item, you will get a description for it, too. Also, be aware that you
may start to find Lookalike Items, like Oren Berries. Not Oran, but Oren. Orens
deal 10 damage, so they're better off being used as projectiles. Blast Seeds
deal 35 damage each, which is enough to 1-hit KO almost anything in here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upon making it to B7F, you will find Spoink's pearl. As a reward, he will give
you a Protein, a Calcium, an Iron, and a whopping 2000 Poke! You’re rich! Well,
not exactly. The Guild must take 90% of all cash rewards. So that leaves you
with just 200.
4.3 | Chapter 3 - The Scream
===============================================================================
The next morning, Chatot will bring you over to the board on the other side.
This is the Outlaw Notice Board! Your second Guild job is going to be to catch
a criminal! First, however, the apprentice Bidoof is going to show you around.
He'll show you around the Guild, and then off to town.
Bidoof will lead you into Treasure Town. Your partner will explain all of the
shops located around here. You can go around Treasure Town and store money and
items as you wish. Then go to Kecleon Shop. After you finish shopping, you will
activate a cut scene. Two brothers, a Maril and Azurill, come by to purchase
an apple and leave. Then, they rush back after they find a second apple they
didn't pay for, but it was a gift from the Kecleon brothers. When they leave,
Azurill will trip and drop his apple. You will catch it and...
You start to feel dizzy. Then, everything goes dark. You hear a faint cry for
help. When you finally regain consciousness, Azurill will leave. You ask your
partner if he heard anything, but he didn't. Neither did the Kecleon brothers.
You're positive, though, that you heard Azurill scream. Or did you imagine it?
Walk over back to the Guild. You will see a Drowzee talking with the Azurill
Bros. They are looking for an item they lost, and this Drowzee may have seen it
somewhere, so he is offering to help. When they leave, Drowzee will bump into
you. Then, you will start feeling dizzy again. Everything goes dark and...
You see something this time. Drowzee and Azurill in a cave. Drowzee is
threatening Azurill. Again, you will regain consciousness and nothing has
happened. You decide to tell your partner about the dizzy spells. He does trust
you, but he doesn't think Azurill is in any danger from Drowzee. So you shake
it off and head back to the Guild. Talk to Bidoof and he will start picking an
outlaw for you. Then, a siren blares and the ground shakes. It’s nothing bad,
Dugtrio is just updating the bulletin boards. Then, your partner will notice
a specific outlaw. It’s Drowzee!
You run outside to meet Maril, who's worried that Drowzee and Azurill haven't
come back yet. He takes you to Mt. Bristle. Time for the third dungeon!

The Pokemon of Mt. Bristle can have some strong moves. The move Quick Attack
not only deals up to 20 damage, but it can hit you even if you are two squares
away from the attacker. Also, Spinarak have Poison Sting. Poison Sting can
poison you, which means that you will take 2 damage every 20 turns, and you
can't heal yourself by walking. Nidorino are the strongest Pokemon in this
dungeon. Besides having the Poison Point ability, which poisons, they have very
strong attack power, and the move Screech to make that more devastating.

find out that Drowzee was deceiving him the whole time. He just wants Azurill
to crawl into a little opening in the wall and bring back treasure for him.
Its time to bring this wrongdoer to justice in your second boss!
_______________________________________________________________________________
| | Boss: | |
| | Drowzee | |
===============================================================================
The bosses in this game can get quite challenging. Most of them are several
levels higher then you. Some have super strong moves. However, there is one
thing that you can do to almost any boss in this game that makes them a whole
lot easier: Status Conditions! Sleep, Paralysis, Cross-Eyed, Terrified.
Anything that prevents the Pokemon from attacking, or at least hitting you, is
the key to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon bosses.
Even with that, Drowzee can still be extremely annoying. He has three possible
ways to inflict status conditions on you. Disable will paralyze, Hypnosis will
put you to sleep, and Confusion deals damage and can confuse. If you have a
status condition, you are a sitting duck for Drowzee. Drowsee also has two
killer Abilities. Insomnia means he can't be put to sleep, and Forewarn will
warn Drowsee about an attack you have and allow him to evade it every time you
use it.
Your main concern is going to be keeping yourself and your partner alive while
you chip away at his health. Eventually, Drowzee will go down peacefully.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After taking out Drowzee, he will be arrested and the brothers will be
reunited. Such a happy scene.
THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST SPECIAL EPISODE IS UNLOCKED!!
Back at the Guild, you will get the bounty. Its 3000 Poke... minus the 90%
deduction for the Guild, leaving you with 300.
That night, your partner will tell you about the distortion of time. He tells
you about the Time Gears. Time Gears keep the flow of time moving properly in
a specific region. If a Time Gear goes missing, the flow of time would probably
stop. Not even criminals go after them.
But, then who is that Pokemon approaching the Time Gear...
The next morning, Chatot will tell you to do missions on the two Bulletin
Boards. If you need more info, visit the tutorial section on missions. To
advance the plot, you must complete 3 missions.
When you walk outside, you will see a Spinda dancing around a rock. Remember
this. Second, if you try to go to the beach, a Krabby will walk by and tell you
he has seen bottles washing up on the beach. These will contain missions, so
check the beach every once in a while.

===============================================================================
One morning, instead of doing jobs, Loudred will call you over. Seems that
Diglet has to take over for his father today and cannot do Sentry Duty, so he
needs you to do it for him. Sentry Duty is when Diglet identified your
footprint at the beginning of the game. This is the security system of the
Guild.
_______________________________________________________________________________
| | | | Minigame: | | | |
| | | | Sentry Duty | | | |
===============================================================================
Sentry Duty is an easy minigame you can play to get some pretty good rewards.
Its all about identifying Pokemon footprints. Look up at the top screen and you
will see a footprint. On the bottom screen, you will see four Pokemon choices.
All you have to do is pick the right Pokemon. When Loudred says you can only
get two wrong, he means he will only tell you if you got it wrong twice.
Anytime after that, it will be counted as a mistake.
If you are having trouble, here are some tips:
-If you think a Pokemon is correct, visualize the Pokemon. If you look at its
feet and see that the footprint matches, it's probably right.
-Some footprints can be easy to tell. For example, if you see bird claws, and
there is only one Bird-like Pokemon as a choice, that’s the answer.
-Wait for hints. If you stop and wait, you will get hints from Loudred.
Depending on your score and the number you got correct, you will get a certain
selection of rewards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now there's a Wynaut and Wobbofett standing by the rock. I wonder what that
means...
After sentry duty, you must complete 2 more jobs to move on to Chapter 5.
4.5 | Chapter 5 - The First Official Exploration
===============================================================================
One day, Chatot will tell the Guild about a place called Treeshroud Forrest.
Apparently, time is a complete standstill there. Nothing moves. No wind blows.
Why is this? It’s because the Time Gear in Treeshroud has been stolen!
Then, Chatot will tell you and your partner that you have been doing well in
your training. Now, its time to do your first real exploration! You will be
exploring a mysterious waterfall that the Guild believes holds a secret. This
is your first real job so do it well!
When you walk up to the next floor, Chimecho will call you over. She just
opened an Assembly in the Guild. From now on you will be able to recruit
members to your team, and with the Assembly, rearrange and organize team
members.
When you walk outside you will notice the boulder that was there is now gone
and is replaced by stairs. This is the sight of a new shop opening soon,
Spinda's Cafe.
More new shops opening today! This time, the Marowak Dojo has risen from the
rubble. There, you can train and grind for items in several different training
mazes.
Remember, all shops will be covered in the tutorial section of this
walkthrough.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you make it to the Waterfall, you start your investigation. It seems like
just a plain old waterfall. Your partner approaches the waterfall, but gets
knocked back by the rush of water. You try getting close too, and...
You have another vision. A Pokemon jumped into the Waterfall and inside was a
cave. You tell your partner about the vision. He is a little reluctant to jump
into a waterfall (I wonder why?) but he trusts you, so you get a running start
and jump in!
SPLOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!!!
Your vision... was right again! There is a cave! Time for the fourth dungeon!

This is the first dungeon where Kecleon Markets can appear in a dungeon. Also,
this is the first dungeon in the game where you can recruit Pokemon, so if one
asks to join your team, you might just want to. Having an extra Pokemon that
is the same level as the Pokemon in the dungeon is definately a help.
If you’re a Fire-Type Pokemon, you’re going to have a tough time in this
dungeon, especially when Psyduck uses Water Sport, cutting the power of
Fire-Type Moves. Also, watch out for Bubble, which will lower your Speed, and
Mud Shot, which can also lower speed, but has a much stronger attack power.
Several Pokemon have status inflicting moves. Tangela have Sleep Powder, and
Grimer have Poison Gas. Also watch out for Pokemon moving on water. This can
be an extreme disadvantage for you if they have a move that can hit from far
away. Bring Iron Thorns or Gravlerocks for long ranged attacks.

You have yet another vision. This time, the same Pokemon from before pushed the
gemstone and a huge rush of water came and carried it away. Then, your partner
pushes the gem. Uh oh...
The huge rush of water carries you along all the way to a far away Hot Spring!
Back at the Guild, you tell Chatot about your huge discovery. However,
something isn't right. That Pokemon you saw in your visions kind of looked like
Wigglytuff. Just out of curiosity, you tell Chatot to ask Wigglytuff about it.
Sure enough, Wigglytuff had been there before. So much for your big discovery.
That night, your partner tells you something he has noticed about your dizzy
spells. Then, Chatot comes in and asks you to come to the Guildmaster's
chamber. Wigglytuff has been watching you and your partner's progress. The
Guild is going to mount a big expedition soon. They don't usually except
rookies for the trip , but they are going to consider you and your partner's
team.
4.6 | Chapter 6 - Team Skull
===============================================================================
The next morning, Chatot will tell the rest of the Guild about the expedition.
They are going to Fogbound Lake.
Walking up to the first floor, you will see two Pokemon looking at the Job
Board. Its Koffing and Zubat! Turns out they are in an exploration team too,
Team Skull. The reason they lost is because they didn't have their chief. Just
then, a Skunktank walks in. This is the chief. This guy really stinks,
literally and figuratively.
When you walk out to the crossroads, you will find Spinda's Cafe of Hopes and
Dreams is now open.
When you walk outside, Chimecho will come by. She will ask you if it would be
okay if team members stay in the Cafe while they waited to go to a dungeon.
This is not a very important decision, so choose what you want. She will also
point out the signpost where you can assemble your team without having to go
back into the Guild.
Complete one mission, and then do sentry duty.
One day, Chatot will announce that they will have some allies helping the Guild
in the upcoming expedition. Unfortunately, the new allies are Skunktank,
Koffing and Zubat. They will be joining you on the expedition. No one seems to
like that idea. The usual Guild spirit is replaced by the stench of Team Skull.
When Guild spirit is lost, though, Wigglytuff gets a little... upset. Then the
ground starts to shake. Better be happy while you still can.
Complete another mission.
One day, Chatot's next assignment for you is to replenish the Guild's food
supply (and if you were paying attention, you should know why it’s down). There
is one food item, Perfect Apples, that have diminished completely. They are the
Guildmasters favorite food, and if he doesn't have them...
He'll get "upset".
Perfect Apples are located in Apple Woods.

Fire-Type Pokemon should have an easy time here, but watch out for some of the
Pokemon's moves. Oddish will constantly use Sweet Sent, which lowers

lowering your speed. Gloom has Acid which can lower your defense. There are
also several ways to get Poisoned in Apple Woods, whether it's from Weedle's

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back at the Guild, you finally get to see the true wrath of Wigglytuff. More
like a temper tantrum. Just when it seems like there is no hope, Skunktank,
of all Pokemon, comes to your rescue. They give Wigglytuff a Perfect Apple to
"make a good impression". Then the next morning, Chatot gives you a huge
letdown. That and your still hungry.
After some encouragement and food from fellow Guild members, Crogunk will call
you over to tell you that his Swap Shop is finally open.
There is a new service at the Spinda Cafe. It’s called Project P.
Also, around this time, the Electivre Link Shop will open up.
Complete another mission, then sentry duty. Then, do one more job.
It’s finally time! The members of the Guild expedition are going to be
announced. They are... everyone? It seems that Wigglytuff doesn't want anyone
to miss out on the fun. Well, that’s good new for you! You’re going on the
expedition.
Its time to stock up for the expidition. Bring all the essentials because there
are some tough dungeons coming up ahead. I also recommend taking any Gummis
you have to the Spinda Cafe. Now, when you’re ready, talk to Chatot.
4.7 | Chapter 7 - The Guild's Big Expedition
===============================================================================
Your first stop on your way to base camp is Craggy Coast, a large cave on a
cliff. Bidoof will notice a Kangaskhan Rock near the entrance. Kangaskhan rocks
allow you to save your game and check your storage, so if you left something
important back home this is your chance to get it. Your partner will inspect
the entrance to the dungeon and notice two paths. One is Craggy Coast, and the
other is the Side Path. The side path is an optional dungeon that can be used
for grinding, but if you choose Craggy Coast, you will never be able to go back

Spheal and Seleo have Powder Snow, which hits every teammate. Not only are you

Pineco, is an extremely powerful move. Although it will most likely KO Pineco,
it will half the HP of anyone in the eight squares around it.

The next morning, the Guild gets a visitor: the world-famous explorer Dusknoir!
He wants to ask Wigglytuff how the expedition went. He is staying in Treasure
Town for a few days.
There will be two new shops open for you in Treasure Town. The Xatu Appraisal
and the Chansy Day Care.
Complete another mission.
The next day, Chatot would like you to see if the Kecleon Market is stocking
Perfect Apples, because it seems he doesn't trust you enough to go to Apple
Woods. At the shop, Dusknoir is there having a conversation with the brothers.
Then, The Azurill Bros. come by. They say they have found their missing item,
a Water Float.
Back at the Guild, report to Chatot your bad news that the Kecleon Market isn't
stocking Perfect Apples. Apparently, that incident with Wigglytuff was
"slightly traumatic" for him and he "can't go through all that again". Oh well.
Complete just one more mission.
The next day, the Azurill Bros. will be at the Guild. They need help finding
their Water Float. It was stolen (and you should know by whom) and put in the

Electrike x8
This is a multi-boss battle. Like regular bosses, multi-bosses have a specific
strategy to them: inflict the leader with a status condition and take out the
minions.
This boss, however, can still be challenging. The Electrike will make a
formation similar to a plus sign. Since they all have Quick Attack, they can
all can damage you in this way. You probably want to be at high enough level
to be able to take an Electrike minion out in one hit, which is extremely
helpful for this and any other multi-boss battle. A few other things to note:
Bringing a recruit from earlier in the dungeon will help. Bring a Girafarig
for an Agility speed boost, and an Electrike of your own for the Lighting Rod.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the fight, Dusknoir shows up to save your behind. He knows a lot about
the Electrike tribe and convinces them to leave quietly. You got the Water
Float back, and the confession of the ones who stole it. Don't worry, we will
be seeing more of them later.
Back in Treasure Town, you return the Water Float. Kecleon notes your heroics
from before, saving Azurill from Drowzee. Your partner confesses that they knew
about that because you saw it in a dream. Dusknoir hears this and wants to know
more. You tell him everything about your visions and about you.
According to Dusknoir, the visions are called Dimensional Screams, the ability
to see into the future by touching something. However, he does not know why you
are a Pokemon.
Just then, Bidoof comes and says there is an emergency meeting at the Guild.

However, there is another Pokemon in this trio, Azelf, that may also be
protecting a Time Gear.
Then Dusknoir has another idea. Bidoof picked up a crystal in Crystal Cave.
Dusknoir wants you to touch the crystal to see if it triggers a Dimensional

Grovyle attacking a Pokemon in Crystal Cave. Was that Azelf? You'd better go

===============================================================================
At level 44, Grovyle is the strongest enemy you have faced so far. You do not
want Grovyle conscious for this fight. With some Fire, Bug, Ice, Poison, or
Flying-Type moves, this fight should go by quickly. During the last parts of
the fight, Grovyle's ability, Overgrow, will kick in if his HP is below 25%.
This will make his Leaf Blade very powerful, so beware.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the battle, Grovyle will still have some fight in him, but you won't.
Luckily, Dusknoir comes in the nick of time, but what could the dialog between
him and Grovyle mean? Do they know each other?
After explaining the news to the Guild, Officer Magnazone calls everyone out to
Treasure Town for an emergency meeting.
4.13 | Chapter 13 - Dusknoir's Secret
===============================================================================
Dusknoir has several announcements plus a couple of plot twists to discuss,
so give him your attention. First of all, he did know Grovyle before this.
Second, Grovyle is from the future. Grovyle fled to the past. He is trying to
cause the planets paralysis. This means the whole world will stop moving,
frozen in time, if enough Time Gears are stolen. How does Dusknoir know this?
He too is from the future. He came to apprehend Grovyle and foil his evil plan.
Azelf has a plan to finally capture Grovyle. They are going to lure Grovyle
into a trap. Unfortunately, this plan does not include you. Dusknoir doesn't
want to scare Grovyle into not coming, so he would prefer you'd stay out of
it.
THIS IS WHEN THE THIRD SPECICAL EPISODE IS UNLOCKED.
Complete missions and stock up because something big is about to happen.
One day, Deputy Magnimite will tell the Guild that Grovyle has finally been
captured. Dusknoir is returning to the future with Grovyle, and he wants to
say goodbye to all those who helped him.
Dusknoir makes his way to the Dimensional Hole, the giant time traveling vortex
in the middle of town, with Grovyle all tied up. He has to say goodbye. First
he wants to say goodbye to you and your partner and thank you for all of your
help...
Or is he? Just then, he grabs you and pulls you into the Dimensional Hole.
PLOT TWIST!!!!!!
4.14 | Chapter 14 - Into the Future
===============================================================================
You awaken in a dark, cave-like jail cell. Go up to the doors and test if
they open. Then, some Sabalye come in and blindfold you. They take you and tie
you up to a pillar next to... none other than Grovyle! You’re on a stockade,
which is a torture and humiliation device used in Medieval times. Someone
doesn't want you around anymore, but who? It’s Dusknoir! He orders the attack
to finish us off. Grovyle asks you what you should do. The only thing you can
do is attack. When the ropes break, you attack and escape. What the heck is</pre><pre id="faqspan-3">
going on?
When you finally make it outside, you find that everything is dark, and nothing
is moving. You finally make it to a resting point. Your partner doesn't want to
trust Grovyle anymore, but its not like Grovyle cares. He just wants to escape
from the Sabalye, and if you can't trust him, he'll go on without you. Your
partner suggests waiting until morning, but Grovyle says that isn't possible
beacuse the planet is paralyzed, just like Dusknoir talked about. Even though
the Time Gears were returned, the planet is still paralyzed. Your partner is
having a hard time understanding what’s going on, but those Sabalye are still
following behind, so its time to get a move on.

which causes you to use two PP for every move instead of one. His move set is

Wind, which hits everyone and can raise all of his stats, and Spite, which
takes away all of the PP of the last move you used.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Spiritomb runs away, Grovyle gets back up. Grovyle explains that
Spiritomb wasn't evil. His emotions are twisted by the planets paralysis.
Now that Grovyle joins your party, he has a lot more explaining to do.
4.15 | Chapter 15 - The Secret of the Paralysis
===============================================================================
According to Grovyle, the planets paralysis was actually caused by the
destruction of Temporal Tower. Temporal Tower is the structure that holds the
fabric of time together. When Temporal Tower collapsed, Dialga, the protector
of the tower and controller of time, went out of control. He is now Primal
Dialga, who governs darkness. He seeks self-preservation, so he tried to get
rid of Grovyle. Here's the big twist: Grovyle went back in time to prevent the
planets paralysis. He needed Time Gears to restore Temporal Tower and restore
peace. All of the things that Dusknoir said about Grovyle were, as strange as
this may sound, lies. Dusknoir was an agent sent by Dialga to kill Grovyle.
As you may expect, this is all a little too much for your partner to handle, but
you realize that it is the only logical explanation for what’s been happening.
With a little reassurance you get your partner to join on your side. You have
to trust Grovyle at this point.
The next stop is to find Celebi, the Pokemon that has the ability to take you
back to your own time. She should be in Dusk Forest.

Dragon Claw and Dragon Rage. Dragon Rage deals a fixed 40 damage no matter your
Sp. Defense. Remember, Dragon-Type Pokemon are resistant to many types of
moves. If you need to, use Grovyle to your advantage. He has Leaf Blade, an

you. Just when all hope is lost, Grovyle mentions he has a partner who will
complete his mission if he cannot. So, who is that partner...
It’s you. You were Grovyle's partner before coming to the past. Dusknoir
deduced this when he found out you were a human with the Dimensional Scream
ability. That's why he took you to the future. His orders were to get rid of
you and Grovyle, the two who were trying to change history. You were separated
during a time travel accident, and you lost your memory.
It seems nothing can be done to get you out of Dusknoir's grasp... until your
partner has a gutsy plan that barely works. Escape to the past!!
4.16 | Chapter 16 - A New Dawn
===============================================================================
You have made it back to the past. Your partner wants to go back to the Guild,
but that might not be a good idea with Grovyle. So your partner takes you over
to Sharpedo Bluff.
THIS IS WHEN THE FOURTH SPECIAL EPISODE IS UNLOCKED!
Your partner reveals a secret staircase leading to a chamber in the cliff.
This is where he lived before he joined the Guild. That night, Grovyle talks
about your partnership with him. You were investigating the planets paralysis
with Grovyle, and your Dimensional Scream ability helped with finding the
locations of Time Gears. The Dimensional Scream only works with a trusted
Pokemon partner, and only in places connected to Time Gears. This explains why
it didn't work in the future. Those voices you heard when you touched the
Groudon Statue and crystals? That was you as well. You and Grovyle met
unexpected trouble in the last trip through rime, and that’s why you were
separated.
Your partner goes outside during the night. Grovyle joins him for the sunrise.
He talks about when he saw the sunrise for the first time. He asks your partner
why he didn't give up when hope was lost in the future. He says it was because
you stood by him. You've always inspired courage (and sometimes a little
stupidity) in your partner, and that’s how he was able to join the Guild and go
on so many adventures.
Its time to collect the Time Gears. The first place to go is Treeshroud Forest.

If you have Fire-Type moves, that combined with Grovyle's power will
make this an easy dungeon. Cherim have Petal Dance, a strong move that hits
repeatedly. Cherim also use Sunny Day to change their form. This form change
doesn't do anything except leave it open for powerful Fire-Type attacks.
Ninetales have Confuse Ray and Houndoom have Beat Up, which warps all of the
Pokemon in the room around it.

can't do any more harm. Grovyle wants your partner to go around Treasure Town
and ask what’s been happening.
Back at the bluff, your partner says that time is not moving in a lot of
places, and its spreading fast. This is because, Grovyle says, Temporal Tower
is collapsing. You need to get the Time Gears fast. However, there is one
little problem...
Temporal Tower is located in the Hidden Land, and no one knows where that is!
So Grovyle is going to collect the Time Gears and you and your partner are
going to search for the Hidden Land. Eventually, you realize that you need
everyone's help on this. So you convince your partner to go back to the Guild.
4.17 | Chapter 17 - The Guild's Crew
===============================================================================
After a heartwarming reunion, you tell the Guild what happened. Obviously, they
don't believe you at first. After thinking about it, however, it did look like
Dusknoir dragged you in. With some major persuasion, you get everyone on your
side, even Chatot.
Wigglytuff suggests that you go ask Torkoal, the town elder, at the Hot Spring.
This requires you to go through Waterfall Cave, which should not be a problem.
Make your way to the Hot Spring and ask Torkol what he knows. One needs certain
qualifications and proof to get to the Hidden Land, but that’s all this old
geezer knows. The next day, Torkoal comes to the Guild with more information.
The proof he talked about is a certain pattern. Could it be the pattern on
your partner's Relic Fragment? Yes it is! Better yet, Wigglytuff and Chatot
have seen that pattern before. The place where they saw it is Brine Cave.
Unfortunately, it looks like we might be getting some unexpected company...
Go over to Treasure Town and make your preparations. Then, your partner will
say that you should go over to Sharpedo Bluff to see if Grovyle is there. You
head over there and find a letter from Grovyle. He says that Dusknoir can come
back to the past at any time. He mentions going to the beach so you check
there.
4.18 | Chapter 18 - Lapars

Grovyle isn't at the beach. Your partner remembers when his Relic Fragment was
stolen here on the beach. He never would have guessed that it would have been
so important. He looks into the sunset and sees a Pokemon out in the distance.
That night, that Pokemon approaches Wigglytuff on a cliff. Wigglytuff asks
about the strange pattern he saw.
The next day, you will venture to Brine Cave.

with a couple of Grass-Type moves, this is a fairly short boss.

Chatot is down, and the whole Guild including Grovyle come to his rescue. When
Chatot and Wigglytuff were exploring here before, Chatot shielded the
Guildmaster in the same way. He saved Wigglytuff's life, but now Wigglytuff
must save his.
However, you, your partner, and Grovyle must continue on. You come to the room
with an opening to the ocean and a pattern on the wall, the same pattern that
is on the Relic Fragment. Your partner takes out the Fragment. A beam of light
shoots out from the pattern and Lapras appears. He is the guide to the Hidden
Land!
4.19 | Chapter 19 - To the Hidden Land
===============================================================================
That night at the Guild, Wigglytuff informs the apprentices that Chatot will be
okay. Wigglytuff and Lapras each tell the story of how Wigglytuff and Chatot
discovered the pattern in Brine Cave, and how Wigglytuff promised to Lapras not
to reveal the pattern to anyone. This would expose the Hidden Land. The Hidden
Land is located in a gap in time to cover its existence. Your partner's
Relic Fragment was the key to reaching there. He was the one that was chosen to
go.
The next morning, Lapras will announce to the group that they are approaching
the gap in time that will lead to the Hidden Land. Ready. GO!!!
You have made it to the Hidden Land. Temporal Tower is up in the sky, so you
will need to take the Rainbow Stoneship, which is just beyond here in the Old

===============================================================================
Hit Dusknoir with a seed to get rid of him for a while and focus on the Sableye
for now. They are Dark/Ghost-Type so they have no weaknesses. If you let them
live long enough they can be a problem. Grovyle should be able to take them out
easily and so should you. Now to Dusknoir, finally. He has the move Curse,
which can help you because it cuts his own HP in half. He also has Night Shade
which will always deal 45 damage because his level is 45, and Shadow Sneak,
which can hit from afar. Conserve your X-Eye, Sleep, and other Seeds, however.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eventually, Dusknoir goes down. Grovyle tells your partner to go get the
Rainbow Stoneship ready. Then, Dusknoir tells you of a horrible fate: If you
change history and save the world, the Pokemon of the future will disappear.
Grovyle says that you and he came to this world knowing this, and you accepted
it, but now there is someone else to carry this burden. Your partner. He'll be
crushed if you leave, knowing his best friend and companion were to disappear.
However, that does not matter anymore. Nothing can be done. The future must be
changed or it will fall into darkness. You must accept this resolve, even
though it means losing your best friend.
Your partner puts the Relic Fragment in the spot that will activate the Rainbow
Stoneship. Then, Dusknoir makes one final attempt to stop you, and Grovyle has
has just about enough of him. He takes Dusknoir and starts pushing him into the
Dimensional Hole, just when your partner gets back down. He can't come back to
the past. Now its your turn. Your partner takes the Time Gears. You don't tell
him about your fate.

critical health on one blow. One of his IQ Skills, Intimidator, sometimes makes
you randomly cringe. He has Dragon Claw and Ancient Power, which can raise all

A LOT of Reviver Seeds. Expose his weaknesses, Fighting and Ground, as much as
possible. Use up all necessary items, because it's the final boss. Violent
Seeds and Vile Seeds work great. It doesn't matter what you do now: just beat
Dialga.

Primal Dialga is down. Your partner quickly goes up to the altar and places the

The Tower... stops collapsing. You did it! You saved the world. Dialga now has
his reason back and shows you the world now that it's at peace. However, you
changed history. So you are going to disappear. During your descent, you feel
it coming. Its finally time to tell your partner. As you say goodbye and fade
into the light, you tell your partner that he needs to make it home and tell
everyone about what happened.
So your partner descends Temporal Tower, boards the Rainbow Stoneship, leaves
the Hidden Land, and makes it back to the Guild. He tells the story of his
adventure to everyone possible. Life after that gradually returns to normal.
One day, your partner decides to take a walk on the beach. He views the
spectacular sunset and remembers you. When you joined the Guild, going on your

when you boarded the Rainbow Stoneship. All sorts of memories.

same goes for money, but only for the two episodes that feature Treasure Town
and the Duskull Bank.
6.1 | Special Episode 1 - Bidoof's Wish
===============================================================================
The episode starts out with a normal scene at the Guild. The camera then
shifts to Bidoof. Bidoof admires your team and he's going to work hard. Thus
begins the first Special Episode: Bidoof's Wish.
Bidoof contemplates his beginning days at the Guild. He left home to join
the Guild. He had a hard time training, and he wasn't the smartest when it
came to his stomach. Everything he did, he seemed to screw up. But then...
THAT happened...
Finally, you get to control Bidoof. You can walk around the Guild and talk to
the members, but your first order of business is to go to the Kecleon Shop.
If you want to save, you can go to Bidoof's bed, which is in the lower room
where the crew rooms are, or the Watering Hole outside in the Crossroads.
Remember that this episode takes place in the past, so any shops that were not
open in the beginning of the game will not be open now. This leaves the
Kecleon Shop, Kangaskhan Storage, and the Duskull Bank. Refer to the Special
Episodes tutorial for info on the Joint Storage system.
Before you head off to the Kecleon Shop, however, you probably want to stop by
the Marowak Dojo first. You can't do any mazes here, but in return for coming
in to his dojo, Marowak will give you a free Reviver Seed! That’s all of the
secret items, so now lets move on with the story.
Head to the Kecleon Shop. Bidoof has been ordered to count Oran Berry
inventory, but the Kecleon brothers see Bidoof is feeling down. Bidoof tells
the kind Kecleon brothers about his little inferiority complex, and the
younger brother recommends a TM to boost his strength. The problem is that
it's a little too expensive, and Bidoof does not want to waste his emergency
stash, a whopping 7000 Poke that you can't use on other items.
As Bidoof walks back to the Guild, a Snover, who seems to be in shock, runs up
to Bidoof and hands him something. Then, two more Pokemon, a Gligar and Bagon
appear. They seem to be looking for that Snover. After that scary scene, save
your game.
That night, after being woken up by Loudred's unnatural snoring, Bidoof
recounts the day's events. He remembers the Pokemon that came up to him, and
the two who followed. He recalls the item he received. Its... a map! And marked
on the map is a place called Star Cave. Interesting...
The next morning, Bidoof asks Chatot about the map. Chatot says Star Cave is
believed to be the residence of the legendary Pokemon Jirachi, but no one knows
where it is. Well lucky for Bidoof, he has the map! After a little
interrogation from Chatot (more like mind reading), Loudred will tell Bidoof he
has a visitor. Its the Snover from before. As it turns out, he was protecting
the map from Gligar and Bagon. Now he wants to go explore Star Cave with
Bidoof. Hoping Jirachi will grant him his wish, he lies to Chatot to get out of
Guild training and prepares for Star Cave.

Dungeon: |FLOORS|TEAM #|RECRUIT|RESCUE
Star Cave | 15 | 2 | NO | NO
===============================================================================
The first part of Star Cave should not give you much trouble. Bidoof's
Tackle can 1-Hit KO mostly anything in here, and Snover is level 22 to Bidoof's
Level 10. You can find Kecleon Shops throughout here that only sell Orbs, so
pick up a few if you want, but the main helpful items can be found all
throughout the cave. Your biggest problem in this dungeon is, believe it or
not, Snover! Snover has the ability Snow Warning, which causes it to hail.
Bidoof's HP is so low that he can't heal himself by walking around as fast as
he's losing it from hail. Good thing the dungeon is only seven floors before
you reach a rest and heal point.
The depths are probably easier than the last part because if there is a Psyduck
anywhere on the floor, Snover's Snow Warning is disabled because of Psyduck's
Cloud Nine. Bronzong can be found here as well. They take quite a few hits to
take down and have some pretty strong moves, so you're better off letting
Snover handle those.
The last of the sections, after the boss, is really the same as the last. No
Snover to help you out though. The hardest Pokemon you will find in here is
Lunatone. They take a lot more hits than the Bronzong and are more powerful
with their Confusion.

When you finally clear those parts, Bidoof and Snover come to a dead end, but
instead of Jirachi, they find Gligar and Bagon have pursued them, but then...
Snover... was one of them the whole time. He was just leading Bidoof here with
the map so their team, Team Rouge, could ambush Bidoof and take his 7000 Poke.
Sounds a little complex just so they could mug Bidoof, but oh well. Time for
the first boss!

| | Team Rouge | |
===============================================================================
This can be a very challenging boss considering Bidoof's strength, but luckily,
you don't have to beat it. If you die, the outcome will be the same. But if you
really want to, the best way is to sedate Snover and take out the other two.
They should only take a couple of Tackles each. Now for Snover. If you have a
Sleep Seed or something left over, use it. You do not want Snover alive or
at least conscious for very long. He has Powder Snow, which can do a lot,
Icy Wind, which lowers speed, Grasswhistle, which puts you to sleep, and
Swagger, which confuses you. All together, its not a very fun time. The faster
you can beat this, the better, but if you can't, don't worry about it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even if Bidoof wins, he will be pushed to the ground. And when all seams
hopeless... the Wigglytuff Guild arrives!!!

| | Team Rouge (2nd Time) | |
===============================================================================
You do have to beat them this time, but you probably wont even get the chance
to attack before the Guild completely destroys them. The best thing you
can do here is use Growl, but that won't even make a difference. Just sit back
and enjoy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that Team Rouge is gone for good, the Guild will explain why they came.
Turns out the Guild does care for Bidoof, and they could not ignore him
acting strangely.
The episode, however, is not over. You still have one piece of business to take
care of. Wigglytuff will find a secret opening in the wall, the remainder of
the dungeon!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the bottom, Bidoof will find the deepest part of the cave. Jirachi will
appear, except he's asleep and is a little... restless. Time for the Final Boss
of the episode!!!
_______________________________________________________________________________
| | Boss: | |
| | Jirachi | |
===============================================================================
Like with any boss, hit Jirachi with a seed. The two main things you want to
watch out for is Confusion and Rest. Confusion takes about 50%-75% of Bidoof's
health in one blow. Jirachi will also Rest (even though he's already asleep),
and that gets very annoying considering he takes a lot of hits to go down. With
that in mind focus on getting as much damage in as possible. Bring Reviver
Seeds, Sleep Seeds, even Iron Thorns or other projectiles to get the most
damage in if he wanders off somewhere. When he finally goes down, sit back for
the ending.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the fight, Jirachi finally wakes up. That means Bidoof gets his wish. You
have a lot of options to choose from, but no matter what you choose, Bidoof
will realize that becoming the world’s greatest explorer isn't his dream
anymore. His real wish is to be a mentor to someone, to teach them things.
Who are these Pokemon? Why, they're you and your partner!!
