"I'm Phoenix Wright, a semi-famous defense attorney.
My clients are always the most desperate of the desperate. But I believe
in them. I believe in their innocence 100%!
The courtroom is a fierce battleground. The tables are turned time and
time again. But there is one thing I am sure of:
The truth always reveals itself in the end!"
-from the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All manual
Phoenix Wright rises again. Returning to the courtroom after his triumphs in
the original Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, the titular lawyer attempts to
right all sorts of wrongs in this similarly styled sequel. He faces an uphill
battle against a ruthless system that promises justice for none.
All trials start immediately and are mandated to last no more than three days.
Prosecutors are free to introduce any evidence, fabricated or not, and
manipulate witness testimony to highlight only those facts damaging to
defendants, the truth be damned. The courts are no longer about protecting the
innoncent or punishing the guilty, but for convicting everyone.
Phoenix Wright's mission is to remedy the situation. As a defense attorney,
his duty involves preparing a vigorous defense for his client, but Wright is
about absolute truth, and he puts everything he has on the line to get to the
bottom of each and every case. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney gives you the
opportunity to guide Phoenix through four such cases.
This is accomplished through a first-person text adventure. Outside the
courtroom, you'll have to survey the areas around the scene of the crime,
collecting valuable evidence and interviewing witnesses to uncover valuable
facts. Once the court proceedings are underway, you must read through witness
testimony in order to find inconsistencies, and then Phoenix can nail the
witness to the wall with contradictory evidence. Piece together the facts,
and justice will prevail. Fail, and your client will lose his freedom forever.
Good luck!

ii. GAME MODES/GENERAL STRATEGY CODE : GM22
=--=-=-=-=--===---=-==-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==--==--===-=-=-=-=-=-=--==-=-=-=
Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney: Justice for All features four cases. Solve one
case, and you'll unlock the next challenge. However, to navigate through each
adventure, you must utilize a couple of different modes: Detective Work and
Courtroom Questioning.
+-------------------------------+
Detective Work
+-------------------------------+
Some of the key evidence for a trial can only be found by having Phoenix snoop
around for himself. After all, there's no way the prosecution is going to hand
him the keys to the case every time. Don't worry, though, because it's
impossible for Phoenix to lose while he's playing Sherlock Holmes. The game
won't allow you to proceed until all relevant clues and testimony have been
collected and heard.
Evidence collected is stored in the Court Record, a valuable menu area where
you can peruse all relevant details of the evidence or review the profiles
of the people involved in each case. The facts laid forth in the Court Record
are the ones that will be used to challenge falsehoods laid out in witness
testimony.
The menu for Detective Work has four options:
Examine - When Phoenix is in his investigative mode, he can examine his
surroundings to look for clues. When you hit the Examine button, the
picture of the area will migrate from the top to the bottom screen.
Moving the crosshairs(with stylus or d-pad) over the picture, any
item of interest will illuminate another "Examine" button. Phoenix
will automatically pick up any item that can be used as evidence.
Be sure to examine even the most mundane of objects; anything can
serve as a key to unlock a case's secrets.
Move - This lists all the locations Phoenix can travel to from his current
location. Only currently available locations are listed; as Phoenix
investigates he may find other places to travel. Obviously, it's to
our attorney's advantage to investigate every area available to him.
Also, since he cannot go directly from each area to every other area,
it's useful to note how the areas are connected. It could even help
in reconstructing the events of the crime!
Talk - Phoenix will frequently run into people while he's investigating. Make
sure to speak with everyone about all the available subjects. Sometimes
revisiting with a person after other events have unfolded will unlock
new and more revealing topics of conversation. In certain instances,
witnesses will be incapable or unwilling to reveal certain secrets; this
is where the new concept of Psyche-Locks come into play. (See below for
a more detailed explanation.)
Present - You can also have Phoenix present evidence he has collected to an
interested party to elicit more information; this includes both items
and pictures of people involved in the case. These are the easiest
hints to miss, since the clues of what to present to whom can be lost
in a line of dialogue. If you ever get stuck, it's probably because
you have overlooked presenting someone with an item from the Court
Record.
Psyche-Locks
+-------------------------------+
Psyche-Locks are a new challenge standing in the way of Phoenix's evidence
gathering efforts. When a witness is faced with a particularly sensitive
topic of conversation, they will not be able to speak freely about the
subject. Phoenix can see these mystical locks through the power of Maya's
spritually charged magatama; the more there are, the bigger the secret.
Breaking through them requires methods very similar to the cross-examination
techniques he utilizes in court. The subject might tell a lie, which Phoenix
must refute with hard evidence from the Court Record. Once a Psyche-Locke
is broken, speaking with the witness will continue normally. It will also
replenish his life meter about halfway.
The first step in breaking a Psyche-Lock is to Present Maya's Magatama to
the target, but the real key is knowing when to stop pursuit; a fact that the
game stresses as well. Attempting and failing to break a lock will reduce
Phoenix's life meter. He won't lose when it's empty; it will always maintain
a sliver, but that will obviously reduce future margin for error. Just keep
this in mind, you almost never have the ammo required to break a lock at the
point it is introduced.
Once in the courtroom, Phoenix has to cross examine each witness in order to
expose his lies. This is done by not only presenting the right evidence, but
unveiling it at the correct moment -- exactly when the lie is perpetrated.
The Judge will only brook spurious allegations for so long; his patience is
literally represented in the style of a life meter. Present irrelevant
facts too many times and the trial will end immediately in favor of the
prosecution.
The testimony can be reviewed as often as you wish, during which you will
have two options:
Press - Phoenix will needle the witness about the current statement whenever
you choose the "Press" option. This is a valuable option because it
not only futher illuminates some facts -- sometimes you can destroy
entire stories by merely pressing certain points -- but it usually
cannot count against your quota of strikes and jeopardize the outcome
of the trial.
Present - Most often, a witness's falsehoods can only be exposed with
decisive evidence that directly contradicts his testimony. When
to reveal the truth arrives, press "Present" in the upper right
corner of the screen. Choose the piece of evidence that refutes
the witness's claims, and Phoenix will be one step closer to clearing
his client and uncovering the real perpetrator. Present wisely,
though, as Phoenix's life meter will deplete with every misstep. The
amount lost will be proportional to the importance of his mistake.
When the meter his empty, the case is over for everyone.

-- What You Witnessed --
+-------------------------------+
Statement 1 : I know... I know... I'm not the greatest comedian in the world...
Statement 2 : I haven't been able to make people laugh for 10 years.
Statement 3 : No matter what I say, all I get in return is a vacant stare and
polite applause.
Statement 4 : Since no one ever laughs at my jokes, I've taken to laughing at
them myself.
Statement 5 : It's a bad habit, but hey, at least I'm trying!!
Statement 6 : Imagine my predicament! I'm a clown who can't make people
laugh!! I'm almost useless!
Statement 7 : But I keep trying... I even tried to come up with jokes just
for today!!
Statement 8 : But this atmosphere is very nerve-racking! I decided to try
making everyone laugh!
Statement 9 : Seriously... Everyone... What do you think of me? How am I doing?
-- Cross Examination --

Statement 2 : Everything I've said up until now has been the truth!
Statement 3 : When I looked out the window, the Ringmaster was down and Max
was standing above him!
