=======================2.0 INTRODUCTION=======================================
If you know something I don't or find any errors please e-mail me so I can
fix it. If there are official names for the monster families I'd love to know
what they are.
This guide is to help people plan monster teams in advance, so you don't level
up a monster to 50 just to find out how weak it turns out to be. I have spent
hours leveling up every one of these monsters myself so I hope you find it
useful.
=======================3.0 USEFULL INFO=======================================
Name: What the monster is called.
Family: Monsters in the same family will look the same except with a different
colour pallet. Often with different elements but always with the same attack
style, movement style, and ability to purify Mana Crystals.
Element: The monsters elemental affinity. Monsters will be healed if hit by
magic of thier element. They will also take extra damage if hit by the oposite
element. Some monsters' Attacks have elemental properties. Those monsters will
do 150% - 200% damage to enemies of the opposite emelent and 50% damage to
enemies of the same element. Generaly Fire monsters have high attack, Wind
monsters have higher speed, Water monsters have higher evasion, Earth monsters
have higher defense, Light monsters have higher magic defense, and Dark
monsters have higher accuracy.
Movement type: Can it fly over holes and hazardous terrain or is it stuck on
the ground using its legs like a chump? Indicated by a wing for flying or a
Boot for ground under the monster's name.
Purifier: Can it purify Mana Crystals? It's a good idea to bring at least one
monster unit that can capture crystals so Isaac doesn't have to do all the
work himself. Multiple units will purify a crystal faster than one alone can.
Indicated by a red flag under the monster's name.
UP Usage: Unit points. At level 50 Isaac's max UP is only 11. So you will have
to decide between two powerful monster units or three slightly weaker ones.
HP: Health Points. How much damage a monster can take before dying.
Speed: How fast a monster can move around the map.
Attack: Determins how much damage a monster will inflict.
Defense: Determins how much damage a monster will take.
Resistance: Determins how much damage a monster will take from magic attacks.
The number is the percent of magic damage that is ignored. So a monster with
80 resistance will take twice the magic damage as a monster with 90
resistance.
Units: Most monsters come in teams of 2 or 3. There are some one monster units
though.
Attack style: Some monsters attack up close, some attack from a short distance
with projectiles. Ranged attackers may seem like the better choice but they
both have their advantages and disadvantages. Flying ranged fighters can hover
over a gap and attack melee units from just outside thier reach. However
ranged attackers usualy make bad shields since they are usualy spred out more
the enemy can easily run past them and attack Isaac. But most of the wild
monsters are too stupid for that. You will only need to worry about that
when fighting another mage. They will also stop and attack even if they don't
have a clear shot at the target. Often shooting Mana Crystals or the wrong
monster. Melee fighters can push their way through crowds to get to aspecific
target if they need to. But use too many up-close fighters and they will not
all be able to in the front, wasting time trying to push each other out of the
way. It is probably a good idea to use a mix of up-close fighters and ranged
fighters but its really up to you. There are 3 monsters of each element that
have attacks with elemental properties. I have put an (e) next to the attack
style of those monsters. Those with elemental attacks will be listed in
section 5.8 as well as the main list.
Size: Not all monsters are the same size. Larger monsters make better shields
and smaller monsters can push thier way through a crowd easier.
Description: The game provides a short 2 line description of each monster.
I have copied it and placed it here.
-----------------------3.1 Random Info----------------------------------------
This list currently has:
62 Monsters listed
35 Purifiers
16 Flyers
18 Ranged attackers
18 Elemental attackers
14 Neutral monsters listed
08 Fire monsters listed
08 Wind monsters listed
08 Water monsters listed
08 Earth monsters listed
08 Light monsters listed
08 Dark monsters listed
=======================4.0 Items==============================================
Items come in levels from 1 to 6. You can only get level 6 items after beating
the game. Most of them seem to work on percents proportionate to their level
Eg. Demon Horn LV1 increases a monsters attack by 10%, Demon horn LV 2
increases a monsters attack by 20%. The numbers for the Dragon Scale will seem
different since resistance works on percents. Eg if you give a
Dragon Scale LV1 to a monster with 90 resistance it will only increase its
resistance by 1 (to 91) and if you give it to a monster with 20 resistance it
will increase it by 8 (to 28). It may seem to be useless if given to the
monster with 90 resistance but in both cases it will protect the monsters
from 10% more magic damage.
Life Bracelet - Increases HP by 10-60%
Demon Horn - Increases attack by 10-60%
Iron Shield - Increases defence by 10-60%
Dragon Scale - Decreases magic damage taken by 10-60%
Gale Shoes - Increases speed by 10-60%
Hunter Eye - Increases accuracy (by 10-60% ?)
Angel Coat - Increases avoidability (by 10-60% ?)
Wind shield - Increases attacking speed slightly but reduces Wind resistance
So it would probably be best to give monsters items for stats they excel in as
opposed to trying to cover their weaknesses. High attack monsters get Demon
Horn, high defence monsters get Iron Shield. Giving Boxdogs who already have
high evade an Angel Coat makes them virtually invulnerable to physical damage.
But it's really up to you and depends on the circumstances.
=======================5.0 THE MONSTER LIST===================================
And now the list! They are sorted by element and listed in alphabetical order.
The stats I have provided are for level 50 (max) monsters. I believe this
guide is complete. If you manage to find a monster that is not listed here
please e-mail me. I have painstakingly raised every one of the monsters to
level 50 myself (those shogs are a real pain lol).
