LONDONIAN GOTHICS: A Lolita in the Labyrinth ~Notes by SakuraSylph~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ v.27 May 2018
Released as Megacyber's debut title for the Nintendo DS in 2005, Londonian
Gothics describes itself on the case as a gothic-lolita action-RPG. The former
half refers to an elegant fashion style based upon Victorian (England) and
Rococo (France) era garments full of lace and frills, with gothic-lolita
dresses plus crafting culture being featured prominently as part of the
gameplay. The latter half refers to the dungeon-crawling main structure of
the game. In sum, Londonian Gothics' gameplay could be described as a
combination of Blizzard's PC title Diablo and the classic game Pac-Man. The
details will become clearer later on, but for now that's the basic idea of what
you can expect.
Some folks seem to get confused by this game's subtitle, because one of its
words has an unrelated, and unfortunate, connotation in US English. To
explain, someone who wears gothic-lolita fashion, as this game's protagonist
does, is called a Lolita. And that is what the subtitle refers to. Nothing
else.
Londonian Gothics was never released outside of Japan, so there's not a lot of
information about it available online. Even within Japan physical copies are
a bit rare but can be obtained on the second-hand market inexpensively when
found. This guide includes a translated script so even if you don't know
Japanese you can still enjoy the plot as it unfolds.
Megacyber was purchased by Konami only a few months after Londonian Gothics
came out, so L.G. ended up being Megacyber's last and only DS game too, not
just its first. A planned sequel to Londonian Gothics on the DS never
materialized, but a doujin spin-off eventually did in 2011. It's called
Lolita of Labyrinth, and while it's a different type of game and has all
new characters, it was very clearly intended to be in the same universe as
Londonian Gothics. The spinoff is available on the Japanese Xbox Live Indies
store for 309 yen.
That concludes the short history lesson on what Londonian Gothics: A Lolita
in the Labyrinth is all about and where it came from. On with the show!
I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Story Setting:
--------------
Alice's father has been kidnapped by creatures of the night, and it is unknown
whether he's alive or dead. You, as Alice, insist on following down into the
labyrinth via a hole in the basement to find and rescue him. Your lolita
dresses contain the powers needed to protect you from the dangers that lurk
within. (Game's tagline: "It has to be me!" / watashi ja nakya dame na noo!)
Title Screen:
-------------
-New Game
-Load
-Dress Mode : Admire lolita dresses collected, cumulative across saves.
-Options
Options Screen:

-Music Volume : 1=mute, 2-5 higher is louder.
-Effects Volume : 1=mute, 2-5 higher is louder.
-Text Speed : 1=(slow + manual advance); 2=(slow + autoadvance);
3=(fast + autoadvance).
-Backlight : on / off (warning: "off" blanks the screen on 3DS).
Characters:
-----------
-Alice : You, the player. Comfortably raised in a high-class family that
valued inquisitiveness, Alice is gifted with crimsonlake eyes and
long blonde hair down to her waist. However her behavior isn't
as refined as one might expect, as she's headstrong and charges
into things without thinking them through first.
-Mikhail : The manor's butler. Also a sorcerer hailing from the Scottish
highlands. Always level-headed, polite, and deferential, it's
hard to read the difference between his serious statements and his
jesting ones.
-Lucille : The manor's talented maid, who singlehandedly manages the affairs
of the large residence. However, toxicity lurks within. Her ego
makes her prideful, and she is known to say snarky and callous
things. Nicknamed the toxi-maid.
-Nabokov : Alice's father. A grieving scientific genius who is no fan of war
or malice, he was driven out of his native Russia by civil unrest
in the declining years of that empire. Now in London performing
experiments combining science with sorcery, he was kidnapped by
disciples of "the old gods who wander eternity" and taken to the
deepest part of the underworld labyrinth. He burns with a strong
sense of justice and frequently gets absorbed in his research,
making him easily misunderstood by those around him.
-Additionally you can interact with certain monsters within the labyrinth to
obtain hints or purchase items.
Japanese Fandom Memes Trivia:
-----------------------------
* "Kyaa, be be boh!" - Alice's scream followed by the three notes of the death
fanfare. You'll probably hear this a lot. It became a meme. People would
race to complete the phrase on forums, one poster writing "Kyaa!", while
the next poster would try to slip in "Be be boh!" before anyone else wrote
another message. Also, fan doujin books were titled "Be Be Bon" after this
meme, with the alternate reading of hon (book), bon, replacing boh since
the fanbook was of course a book.
* "xxx ja nakya dame na noo" - Riffing on the game's tagline in Londonian
Gothics related online areas. For instance, the 2ch board changed its usual
"Anonymous" usernames to "nanashi ja nakya dame na noo" ("I've got to be
Nameless!").

Y : Use the power of the currently-equipped lolita dress.
L+R+Start+Select : Soft reset.
Basic Gameplay Flow:
--------------------
On each floor of the labyrinth, the monsters are invulnerable at first and will
one-hit-kill Alice. Alice must:
1. Avoid the monsters via any available method, while searching for the exit
to the current room.
2. Some rooms lock upon entry; step on all magic circles in the room in order
to unlock the doors and make the room exitable.
3. One room will have different music, and this room houses a huge pulsing red
and black orb called a Bordermoon; destroy this by touching it.
4. The music changes and Alice becomes the one invulnerable. Step on each
monster's back and once it falls to the floor, repeatedly kick (A) to
defeat it, earning an item, money, or dress pattern.
5. Take appropriate patterns and items into a sewing room, found throughout
the levels, and craft new lolita dresses in order to increase the variety
of powers (e.g. shrink, teleport, scouting) available for use.
6. While the music is still changed, go through the exit down to the next
level of the labyrinth.
That is the basic outline on how to handle a level, but in practice how you
play is up to you. You can beat up all the monsters, or just some of them, or
even the same ones repeatedly as they respawn upon reentering a room. If a
monster drops a dress pattern, then it will always be the first thing they
drop, so I would recommend defeating each monster on every floor at least once
in order to find all the dresses. If you run out of time while monster
stomping then the Bordermoon orb and all magic circles in the level respawn.
No problem; just go destroy the Bordermoon again and resume.
There are two main types of safe rooms throughout the labyrinth: sanctuaries
(marked by silver arches) and sewing rooms (marked by silver columns). The
former will replenish your stock of lives, refill your DP meter, and allow
you to warp back to the manor. The latter lets you craft dresses.
Lower Screen:
-------------
* Roses : Number of Lives remaining. Starts at 5.
* Magic Circles : Number of active Magic Circles remaining in current room.
* RGB heartbeats show each enemy's distance from Alice. Higher = closer.
* Red meter is time remaining until Bordermoon orb returns & resets the level.
* Purple meter is your DP. Your stamina for running & using dress powers.
-This refills automatically over time.
-If it hits 0, the bar turns silver and you can't run or use powers until
the meter refills far enough to turn purple again.
* Dress : Change to a different outfit and power. For uncrafted dresses, view
which items are needed in order to make it.
* Item : View money and currently-held inventory items. Can discard items.
* Save : Save game. Available anytime.
Gameover Consequences:
----------------------
Restart at the most recent sanctuary visited. All Bordermoons and magic
circles respawn. However, you keep all items, dresses, and money obtained.
Further Factoids:
-----------------
* Be sure to enter all sanctuaries at least once in order to unlock those
floors for warping.
* Time is paused during outfit changes, so they can be done in emergencies.
* Inventory is capped at only six (6) items. Picking up a seventh will ask you
whether you want to discard one existing item or cancel the pickup.
* Monsters nearby where a dress pattern is found are more likely to carry the
items needed to craft it.
* Enemies respawn every time you reenter a room.
* Magic Circles don't reset once the room unlocks for the first time though;
they stay unlocked until the Bordermoon respawns after being destroyed.
* Bordermoon state on current level is retained upon loadgame as long as the
save was created within the level. Loads from saves within a sanctuary or
sewing room will not retain any Bordermoon or magic circle data (all will
be reset).

03. Scuart : Knock back enemy a random distance in a straight line via
bazooka. (Nonlethal shells)
04. Litense : Jump over 1 square of distance. (including post-Bordermoon
conversational monsters if they stop in the way)
05. Manaclis : Shrink in order to fit through small cracks in walls.
06. Survey : Pause action and survey the map as desired.
07. Ferminio : Teleport a few feet away in a random direction.

17. Iscarpe : Auto-warp somewhere on map upon enemy touch instead of dying,
as long as DP gauge is at least 50%. Drains all DP.
18. Satiend : Teleport a long distance away in a random direction.
19. Shrake : Pause all enemy movements for a fixed time.
20. Cannelle : Knock enemy completely off the map via bazooka. (Lethal)

22. Argus : Usable only in the endgame scenario.
Crafting the Dresses:
---------------------
Certain monsters will drop a dress pattern instead of their normal item upon
their first death. Thankfully that means patterns aren't random and need not
be farmed by luck. Just trample every monster in every level at least once
to find them all.

IV. STORY SUMMARY AND GAME WALKTHROUGH (spoiler-full)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[00].Prologue Story Roll (on bootup):
-------------------------------------
London, capital of the British Empire, late 1800s. Awash in outlandish tales,
dastardly deeds by unseen foes, citizens vanishing abruptly, and rumbling deep
within the earth, a dark malaise permeates throughout this city.
Now, under the silent cloak of darkness in a corner of this misty capital,
those who crawl the earth begin their clandestine wriggling once again...
Nabokov, an ingenious scientist, fled from the collapsing Russian Empire and
resettled with his family here in London.
He soon noticed London's troubles and determined the source that tied all
these turbulent trends in the dead of night together.
Bringing his intellect and talents to bear, along with the help of Mikhail's
sorcery, he set out to put right what he found wrong in the world. Alas....
Mikhail: Lady Alice!!
Alice: Good morning, Mikhail. What brings you here so bright and early?
Mikhail: W-we've got a problem! It's the professor; it's Nabokov!
Alice: Oh, what has Father done this time?
Mikhail: He's been spirited away by monsters.
Alice: Wait, what?!
/Transition to the Basement Lab/
Alice: So Father's down here?
Mikhail: Yes. Ghoulish creatures crawled up through that fissure and abducted
the professor.
Alice: Monsters grabbed Father? But why would they?
Mikhail: Who can say?
Alice: Well, Mikhail, what should we do about it?
Mikhail: How do you believe we ought to proceed?
Alice: Bleh, you're useless.
Mikhail: Huh? Might you have just said something?
Alice: Nope, not a thing. All right, Mikhail, I've made up my mind.
Mikhail: Yes, about what?
Alice: I'm going to go rescue Father!
Mikhail: Y-you shan't! That's too dangerous!
Alice: Well, what else would you have me do? Leave him there to rot?
Mikhail: Bestill my heart no! I wouldn't dream of it.
Alice: Then I guess our only option is for me to go.
Mikhail: But yet! Milady, I can't allow you to place yourself in harm's way.
Alice: Oh, I'll be fine. After all, I've got this dress you made for me,
don't I. *spin* This magic dress I'm wearing!
Mikhail: To be sure, with that dress' powers you do at least stand a chance.
Alice: Right?!
Mikhail: Though that doesn't change the fact that it's hardly safe. I'm not
certain I could allow it in good conscience...
Alice: "It has to be me!"
Mikhail: !
Alice: Father must be down there, waiting for me to come help him! I can't
let his hopes be in vain.
Mikhail: I..see. I understand how you feel. And yet I worry...
Alice: Well then, how about you come along with me?
Mikhail: This is a task you are uniquely qualified for, milady. Very well.
I'll entrust his fate to you.
Alice: Whoa, instant flip-flop o_O.
Mikhail: What have we here? You're not already on your way?
Alice: You'd have me set off just like this? Empty-handed?
Mikhail: What would you want to bring, aside from the magic dress?
Alice: Food, for starters, would be nice. And perhaps a lantern and
matches...
Mikhail: Understood. I'll ask our maid to prepare those items for you.
Milady, please wait in your room. Now if you'll excuse me.
/Transistion to Alice's Bedroom/
/Knock, knock, knock/
Lucille: Excuse me, I'm coming in. Miss, I brought the items you requested.
Alice: Thank you, Lucille. And with that, I should be all set to go. Let
me do one last check to be sure I'm ready. Let's see... Food,
water, lantern, matches...
Lucille: Heheh, Miss, why not quit now while you're ahead?
Alice: Huh, what? You're saying there's no point in double-checking my
provisions? It wouldn't do to forget anything important.
Lucille: Nah, that's not it.
Alice: What, then, are you trying to say?
Lucille: It's already too late for the professor.
Alice: Oh geez, talk about blunt! You didn't have to say that.
Lucille: Think about it. What do monsters usually do to someone they take? I
can't fathom that he'd still be unharmed. The professor's probably
being greedily devoured right about now, with the monsters leaving
nary a trace of him for you to find.
Alice: Cut it out; don't say such things! Father is surely still alive!
Lucille: If you ran off to rescue a dead person and then met that same fate
yourself, it would be pretty idiotic, no?
Alice: Out! Get out of here now, Lucille!
Lucille: Yeah, yeah, I hear you. Very well, mademoiselle. Father and
daughter, just a pair of roadkills for the vultures. Ah, I do so
hope such a terrrrrrible thing doesn't happen. huhuhu, huhuhuhu,
kekekekeke.
/Lucille leaves/
Alice: What the hell! Stupid Lucille, you're such an inconsiderate jerk!
Alice: Well, setting her aside for now, I better hurry back down to the
basement. You might not think it, but Mikhail sure can be scary when
he gets upset!
--------> Explore the manor if you want in order to learn its layout (see the
maps in section V). There aren't any items to find for now
otherwise.
--------> (Optional) Find Lucille in the left hallway of Manor 2F.
Lucille: How are things, Miss? Could you be looking for Mikhail? If so he
just now hurried off somewhere. Maybe he had a date with some young
debutante. Keeekkekeke.
--------> (Optional) You can run into Lucille near the basement stairs.
Lucille: Oh? Miss, what are you doing wandering about out here? Surely you're
not, l-lost, in your own manor?! No cause for alarm, right? If
you're looking for the basement it's over this way. Ohh, but you
didn't need me to tell you that did you. Fefefe.
---------> (Optional) Talk to her a second time in the same spot (either one).
Lucille: For heaven's sake why are you dawdling about? Get on with it already.
---------> Down to the basement and to the next story section.
[02].Basement Laboratory:
-------------------------
Alice: Sorry I kept you waiting, Mikhail.
Mikhail: Milady. Have you packed all you need? Do you have your
handkerchief? And some tissues?
Alice: Aw give it a rest. I'm not a kid anymore!
Mikhail: I know, but I am still concerned for your well-being.
Alice: I'll be fine. As long as I have this magic dress, I needn't worry no
matter how perilous the going gets. Isn't that right?
Mikhail: ......
Alice: What's with that reaction?
Mikhail: Ah, pardon me. I meant no offense.
Alice: Mikhail, don't tell me you lack confidence in your own handiwork.
Mikhail: N, nothing of the sort! Surely everything will be fine.
Alice: Suuuurely?
Mikhail: Ah, no, I mean, everything shall be fine. I daresay.
Alice: You daaaaresay?
Mikhail: I e-expect.
Alice: Oh come on! Mikhail!
Mikhail: That being the conclusion I've reached --
/Alice gets "encouraged" down into the hole/
Alice: Kyaa! H-hey, no pushing!
Mikhail: Take care, and safe journeys.
-------> Gameplay starts for real in Labyrinth B1F, now and until the end of
this first level. Get acquainted with your dress power and the game
systems in general, and see the level map in section V if desired.
The next story trigger will be when you reach the bordermoon orb in
the final room of this level.
[03].Labyrinth B1F Bordermoon Room:
-----------------------------------
Alice: What on Earth is this..? It's horribly creepy.
/Flashes/
Alice: Eh? Eh?
/Flashes/
Alice: What's happening?
/Alice reaches towards the bordermoon and it collapses/
Alice: .......
Alice: I-it broke?! o_O But, I never even touched it, right? Right?
Alice: Erm, well... I had nooooothing to do with it!
Voice: ....Alice.
Alice: Eh?!
Voice: Alice!
Alice: That voice. Father?!
Voice: Alice, Alice!
Alice: Father, that's you is it not?!
Voice: Oh, Alice. Has my voice reached you?
Alice: Yes, Father! It really is him!
Voice: Alice, listen closely to what I'm about to say. There's something you
need to know.
Alice: Say, Father, where are you now?! How are you doing?
Voice: Pipe down and listen! I don't have much time!
Alice: O-okay, Father.
Voice: That thing you just destroyed is known as a bordermoon.
Alice: Bordermoon?
Voice: It creates a miasma that makes the labyrinth a hospitable environment
for the monsters. If you can destroy it, that should make the monsters
vulnerable enough for you to defeat.
Alice: Oh goodness! I could never do that.
Voice: Yes, you can. Don't worry, since you... after all.
Alice: Huh? What? Father, I couldn't hear you clearly!
Voice: .......
Alice: Father?! Hey, Father! Say something! Hey!
Alice: Father.. Father! Fatheeeeer!
Alice: ...... Father, I'm going to do this. Hang in there.
/When the bordermoon collapses, the nearby miasma is purified./
------> Now you get your first practice at the monster stomping portion of the
game. Before going to B2F, go back through all the rooms of B1F and
stomp each monster. You'll get your first new dress pattern and some
items in the process. You can't craft the dress just yet, but it's
good to go ahead and pick it up. The next story trigger is when you
enter B2F.
[04]. B2F Entry:
----------------
Alice: Oh?
Alice: Whaaat's that thing? An arch?
/Alice reaches for the arch/
Alice: Does this lead anywhere? How about I take a little look-see.
/Alice enters/
Alice: ? A sanctuary? Why would something like this be inside a labyrinth?
Alice: Eh? Mikhail?!
Mikhail: Yes, milady. I'm so pleased to see you doing well.
Alice: What on Earth are you doing here? Weren't you waiting back at the
manor?!
Mikhail: I waited here figuring that I might be of some assistance to you.
Alice: You did, huh. Hmmmmmm?
Mikhail: What is it. Why might you be looking at me like that?
Alice: No-rea-son.
Mikhail: ......
Alice: So, what are you here to help me with?
Mikhail: Ahem. Well then, milady. First, please look over there.
Alice: ? What is that thing?
Mikhail: For now, please go stand there.
Alice: Huh? Why should I?
Mikhail: Just go do it!
Alice: Okay, okay, I'm going. No need to shout.
/Alice walks over and stands on it/
Alice: How's this?
/Flashes/
Alice: Huh? W-wait, what is this?
/Alice spins/
Alice: Kyaaaaaaaaaaa!
/Alice emerges in another room/
Alice: Eh? Ehh?! What just happened and where am I?
Alice: This room sure does feel familiar somehow...
/Alice exits/
Alice: I'm in the manor!? Was I just transported back home?
/Mikhail follows/
Mikhail: Yes, that is precisely correct.
Alice: Mikhail, what's the meaning of this?
Mikhail: In short, this is what I can do to assist you.
Alice: Wha..?
Mikhail: I have created magic gates that link the manor and the sanctuaries
together. Being able to come and go from the labyrinth as you
please should ease your journey, I think.
Alice: Wow, that's quite something, Mikhail.
Mikhail: Huhuhu. That isn't the only feature of the sanctuaries, either. Have
you noticed, milady?
Alice: Noticed what?
Mikhail: Your lives and DP have all been restored.
Alice: Oh! Now that you mention it, I do feel... but, how?
Mikhail: The holy power of the sanctuary has rejuvinated your body, milady.
Alice: So I see. Thank you, Mikhail. This will help a ton.
Mikhail: You're welcome. It was the least I could do.
Alice: It will be good to pace myself so I don't run out of steam. You
should too, Mikhail.
Mikhail: ......
Alice: Oh, what's wrong?
Mikhail: Ah, nothing is. For safety's sake I'll be standing by in the
sanctuary. Who can say what's going to happen from here on out.
Alice: Okay. I appreciate it.
/Mikhail leaves/
Alice: So, what next? Hurry back down to the labyrinth? Or perhaps rest for
a bit?
-------> (Optional) Visit Lucille in the Maid's Room.
Lucille: Miss, what have you come here for?
Alice: Just visiting.
Lucille: Since you've apparently got the time to dawdle about in my humble
little room, how about you take your leave? If you don't hurry up the
professor's surely going to.... kekekeke.
Alice: D-don't say frightening things like that! And speaking of, that laugh
creeps me out so it'd be great if you could put the kibosh on it.
Lucille: Goodness, how rude. What is the matter with you?
Alice: Ah, er, well. I'm sorry.
Lucille: See here! Please stop idling about and make haste to go. The
professor's waiting for you, no?
Alice: O-okay I will.
/Alice leaves/
------> (Optional) Go back in. This will be the text you get the majority of
the times you check Lucille's room throughout the game.
Lucille: Oh my, Miss? What do you want? Don't tell me you've elected to
abandon the professor after all. Huhuhu! I knew it, protecting your
own life is more important than saving his. Oh, am I wrong? If so,
how about you get going on the double? Before it's too late? Can't
say I'd mind if you gave up on him though. Keeekkekekekeke.
/Alice leaves/
--------> Warp back down into the labyrinth via the new gate that just opened
up in the pantry. The question it asks (and will always ask) is
what floor you want to warp to, but of course as of right now the
only choice is B2F. Continue learning to play the labyrinth, as the
next story trigger isn't until B4F.
-------> (Optional) Talk to Mikhail in the sanctuary. This will be the text
you get the majority of the times you talk to him throughout the game.
Mikhail: Welcome back. I am so pleased to see you safe. Fear not, for the
warp gate is fully operational. Take care on your journey.
[05].B4F Bordermoon Room:
-------------------------
Alice: Ick! The stench of that miasma is on a whole other level around here.
/Alice walks/
Alice: Huh? What's this door? Rrrr, it's stuck fast.
Alice: Nope, doesn't look like I can open it. I wonder what I have to do?
Hmmmm; hmmmm; hmmmm.....
Alice: Maybe the stench has something to do with it. If that's true, the door
could open when I destroy the bordermoon!
-----> Go bust the bordermoon.
Alice: Let's see what happens.
/The miasma dissipates, allowing the locked door to open./
Alice: It worked!
------> Go investigate the previously-locked room through the silver columns.
Alice: What's this room?
Alice: Oh my, is this a sewing machine? What's this doing inside the
labyrinth of all places? And not just that...
/rustle, rustle/
Alice: This is a pattern, isn't it, for another magic dress?
Alice: Ah, I know!
/Alice fetches Mikhail/
Alice: What do you think, Mikhail?
Mikhail: Yes, indeed. This sewing machine will do just fine for making magic
dresses.
Alice: Really? Huzzah!
Mikhail: But do you believe you can handle this? Dressmaking is fairly
complicated.
Alice: Are you patronizing me? Of course I know how to make a dress.. I am
a proper lady, don't you know!
Mikhail: Begging your pardon, ma'am.
Alice: Sheesh, I'm going to lose my temper at this rate! Anyway, Mikhail,
how long do you plan on hanging out here?
Mikhail: Huh?
Alice: You can go back now.
Mikhail: Eh? You mean that was all you wanted to see me about?
Alice: Indeed.
Mikhail: .....
Alice: Okay, 'tis time for all good sorcerers to return home. :)
/Mikhail leaves/
Alice: Whew, let's get down to business. So, self, shall we try crafting from
this pattern?
/Obtained the pattern for the magic dress Litense/
------> Use the machine to make whatever dresses you can with the items you
have in inventory, then go monster stomping for more items. You can
make Bekiradin with kuahha + borodi; Scuart with tyuunu + osubiya +
awizu; and Litense with roadesu + lisufa + radokuya. I wasn't able to
make Manaclis yet at this point. Each dress is optional and they can
be made in any order, so it's up to you how you want to manage your
inventory. I wanted the full array of powers at my disposal so I made
every dress as soon as practical after coming across its pattern. But
you could choose differently. When ready, continue on with the
labyrinth. The next story trigger is on B5F.
[06].B5F Sanctuary:
-------------------
Alice: Hi there.
Mikhail: Milady you must be tired. Would you take a short break here?
Alice: Nah, I'm hurrying ahead.
Mikhail: I see. You sure are pushing yourself hard, milady.
Alice: Aw, no backseat adventuring, please. Unless you're asking to take
over for me?
Mikhail: Eh?! No, I mean.. that is.. well.. Oh, speaking of!
Alice: Dodging the issue, are we?
Mikhail: W-well...
Alice: No matter. Continue.
Mikhail: Certainly. I had a thought: Your late mother used to be skilled in
dressmaking. There's a pattern that might still be in her room.
Alice: Ohh, my mom was...?
Mikhail: How about searching for it?
Alice: Sure will. Thank you, Mikhail!
-------> Go to mother's room in the upper right corner of Manor 2F.
Alice: Come to think of it, Mikhail mentioned this didn't he. That there
might be a dress pattern in this room.
-------> Examine the dresser next to the bed.
/rustle rustle/
Alice: Ah!
Alice: It was still here. This is it! Think I'll just take this with me.
/Obtained the pattern for the magic dress Survey/
-------> Warp back down to B5F and continue on with the level. Possibly go
up to the sewing room on B4F to make Manaclis, Survey, and Ferminio
after collecting the appropriate items. The next story trigger is
later in B5F.
[07].B5F Vampire in Bordermoon Room:
------------------------------------
This is the first monster in the game that Alice can talk to, once the level's
bordermoon is destroyed.
Alice: En garde, you monster!
Vampire: W-wait. Hold your horses there.
Alice: Eh?!
Vampire: Please don't trample me. Let us discuss for a while.
Alice: Talk this out, you say? With you, a monster?
Vampire: Oh I can understand your skepticism. But being able to resolve
differences through parley is important. I'm not so quick to settle
things by force as you seem to be.
Alice: *grump*! Oh, like I have a choice! It's attack or BE attacked out
here.
Vampire: There are friendly folks even amongst monsters. Like myself for
example.
Alice: How can you say that when you were chasing me mere moments ago?
Vampire: I was a bit out of sorts on account of the miasma. I couldn't help
it, could I.
Alice: Well then, you returned to normal when I destroyed the bordermoon?
Vampire: Exactly. When the miasma isn't around, some of us are decent folk.
Alice: Hmmm.
Vampire: Once you destroy a bordermoon, if you see anyone who stands still,
you should try talking to them. Surely they'll lend you a hand.
Alice: Will do!
Vampire: Kukuku... Then shall you allow me to take my leave? Farewell, young
lady.
------> Talk to him again.
Vampire: Kukuku... I'll tell you something useful. Are you finding all the
materials you need for your dresses? The monsters who drop patterns
often also carry the materials required to sew them. I can
understand your desire to rush ahead, but it would be worthwhile to
take time out to collect materials every now and again, don't you
think?
------> Talk to him again.
Vampire: Apologies. I'm fresh out of hints. Kuku, kukuku....
------> Continue exploring the labyrinth as desired until you reach the next
story trigger on B7F.
[08].B7F Safe Area:
-------------------
Alice: Whew, I'm a bit worn out.
/Alice walks to the center of the room/
Alice: Why not, this looks like a decent enough spot for a break.
Voice: Kyahaha (laughs)
Alice: ?! Who's there?
/Alice looks around and hears the laughter again/
Alice: !! Eeek!
Alice: Ah, there you are, you monster!
Fairy: *sniffle* That's mean. Calling me, adorable little me, a monster, of
all things.
Alice: Eh? Eh? Eh?
Fairy: *sniffle* Even though I just wanted to talk to you.
Alice: Oh I'm so sorry.
Fairy: Okay, I'll forgive you!
Alice: (somehow, she seems awfully full of herself...)
Fairy: What's the matter?
Alice: Oh, nothing's wrong.
Fairy: ?
Alice: Say, can I ask you something?
Fairy: What is it?
Alice: Why did the monsters abduct my father? I've been wondering about it
this whole time and I haven't come up with any reason why they'd want
to.
Fairy: The mister's research was a huge inconvenience to some bad guys. They
grabbed him so that he couldn't do it any more.
Alice: Do you know where Father is being kept?
Fairy: I don't know.
Alice: Ah. Well how about Father's research topic, then? Was it really
something bad enough to be kidnapped over?
Fairy: I'd like you to find that out on your own. You rely on others a bit
too much, sister.
Alice: (I've just been rebuked by a half-pint.)
Fairy: Well then, I'll be on my way now. That's bye-bye to you!
Alice: Ah, hey, wait up!
/Fairy laughs and leaves/
Alice: Awww, she left.
Alice: So it was Father's research, huh. Racking my brain doesn't help; that
just makes it clear how little I really know about him and his work.
Guess I should try to do some investigating. Let's see... There might
be something about this in our study. Let's head back to the manor.
--------> Go through the sanctuary here on B7F, back to the library/study on
the left side of Manor 2F.
Alice: All righty. Wonder if there'll be anything here.
--------> Walk to the desk and touch it.
/rummage, rummage/
Alice: Nope, nothing relevant in here...
/rummage, rummage/
Alice: Oh, what's this? Father's diary?
Alice: Indeed it is. Invading his privacy would be uncouth, but, should I
read a little of it? Well, I want any kind of clue I can find, so
Father, I'm sorry about this.
Alice: Although if I'm being honest it's exciting to find out what someone else
writes in their private diary. Hehe. Let's dive in! Lessee here...
April 5th: Today I took my daughter on an outing. How long has it been since
I've seen her so pleased?
April 13th: Today I played games with my daughter. Watching her expressions
ebb and flow like the tide made me feel happy for some reason.
April 21st: These enjoyable days quietly pass one after the next. I hope life
can continue to be like this....
Alice: Oh Father, you had me in your thoughts that much? I feel tears coming
on... *sniff*
Alice: Ahem. Shall we continue reading?
August 19th: Even after the exile, civil unrest in Russia has not been
quelled. We remain safe for the time being, but I wonder how
long that can last...
October 23rd: The flowing sands of time can't be stopped, nor can the rise and
fall of the eras. Something serious is bound to happen before
long.
December 2nd: A great many more people were killed today. If this keeps up I
fear that we will be in serious danger. I've got to think of
some way....
Alice: ......
Alice: Huh? It ends there?! Oh phooey, just when it was getting to the good
part. Sheesh. Isn't there any more?
/rummage, rummage/
Alice: Nope, it looks like that's it for the desk. If there were more pages,
where would they be? Maybe in Father's own room.. Worth a shot,
right?
Alice: But hold on, it said Father was Russian, no? How can that be? I don't
have any memories of life in Russia myself. Did I just forget? Hmm,
hmmm... Not happening. I can't pull a single one.
Alice: Oh well. I'll have to worry about that later. Now back to the task at
hand. I need to find out more about Father.
--------> Go up into Nabokov's bedroom.
Alice: All right. It'd be nice to find a continuation of that diary.
--------> Go touch the bed.
Alice: Huh? There's something under the bed.
/rummage, rummage/
Alice: What's this? This is it! The diary! Let's go ahead and read it.
January 15th: I wonder how much time has passed since we fled from Russia. I
don't regret having fled in and of itself. And yet....
January 21st: My wife and daughter are suffering in bed again today. The
wounds inflicted upon them by monsters during our escape aren't
healing properly.
January 27th: Oh, my dearest wife! And Anya! My adorable daughter! Why did
you two have to die? Just when we had finally arrived in our
safe haven at last.
Alice: Eh? What is this all about? What are you talking about, Father?!
Anya? Who's that? And, what do you mean, dead? Oh come on! This
baloney isn't making any sense!
Alice: Hmph. Well. I won't learn anything by whining about it. I gotta try
reading further.
Jan 27th (cont): I can never forgive the monsters for what they've taken from
me. Their days are numbered and I will bring them down. To
that end, I must complete this research!
Alice: F-father....
February 21st: Is my research something that defies the gods? Will the serial
failures keep piling up one after the next?
March 7th: This latest experiment was another failure. But I won't give
up. Like hell I would! I don't want there to be any more
bereaved people like me out there. I cannot quit here.
March 29th: The state of the city just keeps on deteriorating. I mustn't
let things continue this way! I've got to hurry up and finish
the genomroid, even one day sooner!
Alice: Genomroid?! So that's what he was researching?
Alice: Okay, Father, what on Earth did you do?
Alice: .......
/Lucille enters/
Lucille: Oh?
Alice: Gyah!!
Lucille: Miss. You've been in here?
Alice: Lu-lucille?!
Lucille: Myyy, my. What a well-mannered young lady we have here. While the
professor's life hangs in the balance, you mean to tell me that young
Miss is up here goofing off?
Alice: In no way am I goofing off!
Lucille: Ohhh, the poor professor, abandoned by his beloved daughter...
Alice: Hey! Listen to what I'm saying!
Lucille: All alone in his final hours, needlessly falling prey to hungry
monsters... Ohhh, how cruel life can be.
Alice: Fine! I get it. I'm going back down right now! That good enough
for you?!
Lucille: I didn't say you had to. Forsaking the professor and living out life
on your own is also an option.
Alice: I wouldn't do something like that! I'm definitely going to save
Father; you'll see!
Lucille: In that case you had best make haste. Although you're probably
already too late. Fufufu, fufufufu. Keekkekekeke.
/Lucille leaves/
Alice: Sheesh! Lucille, you are such an unpleasant louse! In fact, you go
beyond just being mean; you're truly toxic. A toxi-maid!
Alice: However, she does have a point that I needn't be so carefree. I gotta
get back to the labyrinth.
-------> (Optional) Go talk to Lucille in the Maid's Room.
Lucille: Ah, young Miss. You look bored.
Alice: I'm not bored.
Lucille: If you've got time, could you help me out a little with the chores?
Alice: As I said I'm not bored!
Lucille: A lot of housework has piled up so I'm a bit overwhelmed.
Alice: Hey! Pay attention when someone's talking to you!
Lucille: Fuffuffu. You'd really be helping me out, young Miss.
Alice: As-I-said, listen to what I'm saying!!
..........
Alice: *huff puff*
Lucille: Huhun. Thank you very much. That was a big help.
Alice: *pant pant* T-that's all of it right?
Lucille: Huhuhu, Not a chance I'm afraid. Look, there's still plenty left.
Alice: Gack!
Lucille: Come on, Miss. Naturally, you're going to keep helping until we've
finished it all aren't you?
Alice: You've got to be kidding!
/Alice turns to walk away/
Lucille: Aw, that's too bad. Putting off housework is nothing but a temporary
reprieve, and it'll only make things harder later. Keeekkekekeke.
Alice: !
/Alice leaves/
-------> Go back to the labyrinth B7F via the warp gate and continue on. By
this point the bordermoon will have respawned, so go bust it again to
open the door down to B8F. Continue exploring as desired until the
next story trigger on B11F.
[09]. B9F Sales Fairy:
----------------------
Fairy: Welcome in, to you!
Alice: Eh? What the heck is 'welcome in' for?
Fairy: I've opened up a shop. Please buy yourself something!
(selling wariyagu, irumari, borodi, masaeru, seruti; bottom right is exit)
Fairy: Please come again.
[10]. B11F Upon Entry:
----------------------
Alice: ......
Alice: *tummy rumble*
Alice: I'm famished..... But I already ate the food I brought with me.
*big tummy rumble*
Alice: .......
Alice: No getting around it I guess. Shall I go ask Lucille to make me
something? She should be in the dining room around this hour.
-------> Go to the sanctuary along the south wall of this room to return to
the manor, then proceed to the dining room on the right side of 1F.
Alice: Ah, smells good!
-------> Walk over to Lucille.
Alice: Lucille, have you finished preparing tonight's meal?
Lucille: Hello, Miss. Why are you in here? The food isn't ready yet. In
fact, you're getting underfoot, so would you mind taking your leave?
Alice: Oh this looks tasty. Think I'll take a sample. *nab*
Lucille: My! Mind your manners, young lady!
Alice: No biggie, no biggie.
Lucille: Huhu. Shameful. You're scavenging like a hyena.
Alice: Huhu, whatever you say. *munch munch*....
Alice: *G, gack.* What is this?! My body's going numb.
/Alice screams and collapses/
Alice: Uggh....
Alice: Huh?! I'm in my own room? Why? What happened?
Lucille: Oh, so you're finally awake.
Alice: Lucille?!
Lucille: You gave me quite the shock, suddenly collapsing like that.
Alice: Eh, I did? It's true that while I was eating I did feel sick all of
a sudden.
Lucille: ........
Alice: Lucille?
Lucille: The truth is that, mistaking it for seasonings, cockroach bait went
into the food...
Alice: Whaaaaaat?
Lucille: Huhuhu. Anyone at all could have made that mistake. Similar
bottles.
Alice: I don't want to suffer through that on account of an error!
Lucille: Huhu. Well pardon me, madame.
Alice: Hey! Trying to dodge responsibility?!
Lucille: Huhu. Huhuhuhuhu.
/Lucille leaves/
Alice: ........
Alice: Oh, Lucille. Surely that couldn't have been on purpose, right?
----------> Return to B11F via the warp gate and continue adventuring. There
are a couple monsters to talk to along the way, but the next major
story trigger isn't until B15F.
B13F sales of rudorin, kuahha, tuuka, aigizu, osubiya.
[11].B14F Vampire:
------------------
Vampire: Kukuku. I'm impressed you made it down this far. I think that's
deserving of a reward. Here, take this.
/Obtained the pattern for magic dress Twincavia/
Vampire: Keep going as far as you can. Kukuku......
------> (Optional) Talk to him again.
Vampire: I don't have any more rewards for you. Kukuku.. Too bad, isn't it.
------> Continue on adventuring.
[12].B14F Wizard:
-----------------
Wizard: Yo, Alice. Huhhuhhuhhu.
Alice: Eep! Disgusting! Don't get too close.
Wizard: Oh, dear Alice. One shouldn't judge others by their appearance.
Alice: Sure. (The disconnect between how he looks and how he acts frightens
me though).
Wizard: Now, I'm not going to do anything, so come over here.
Alice: I'm fine where I am. (Who knows whether something would happen if I
were to carelessly approach.)
Wizard: I see. That's too bad.
------> (Optional) Talk to the wizard again.
Wizard: Yo, Alice. Hello.
Alice: H-hello.
Wizard: Come, let's have a leisurely chat this time.
Alice: I-I'm in a bit of a hurry, so maybe next time.
Wizard: Why's that? You're refusing again? Good grief. Young ladies these
days simply have no manners. *mumble mumble....*
Alice: (As I thought, scary!)
Alice: I think I've made it to the depths of the forest.... Whew. I'm feeling
a bit worn out.
Alice: All right. The miasma seems light in this room. Just what I needed!
Let me rest for a while.
/Clunk/
Alice: Holy..! Who's there?
Vampire: Hi, young lady. Kukkukku. Doing well?
Alice: What, do you need something?
Vampire: My goodness, how unfriendly. And after I took all this trouble to
bring you information.
Alice: Information? What is it?
Vampire: Perhaps it is closer to gossip than information, but...
Alice: Lose the pompous act and spit it out already!
Vampire: Dear me, so impatient.
Vampire: It seems that in order to rescue the professor, the power of
genomroid is required. Without it, even if you find the professor,
you won't be able to free him.
Alice: Genomroid?!
Vampire: Yes. That's what I overheard just now at any rate.
Alice: As I recall, that word was mentioned in Father's diary too, wasn't
it.
Vampire: I see. I'm afraid I could not say what a genomroid is, however...
In any case it's sure to be something essential. It would be worth
looking into further.
Alice: You're right. I will. Thank you!
Vampire: Kukkukku... I'm so pleased to have been helpful. Farewell.
/Vampire leaves/
Alice: Genomroid... I wonder what that actually is? Mikhail might know
something about it! All right. Let's try asking him.
-------> Go to the sanctuary on the right side of this room.
Alice: Mikhail!
Mikhail: W-what is it, all of the sudden?
Alice: Do you know anything about something called a genomroid?
Mikhail: ! N-no, unfortunately I don't.
Alice: Eh? Are you sure?
Mikhail: Y-yes. I completely, absolutely, know not even a smidgen.
Alice: That's odd. Genomroid was Father's research project. Being his
assistant, there's no way you couldn't know.
Mikhail: Although you say that, I, er...
Alice: Suspicious.
Mikhail: .......
Alice: ...okay, I get it.
Mikhail: Huh?
Alice: It's fine! I'll look into it on my own!
Mikhail: M-milady?!
Alice: Mikhail, don't try to stop me! You don't have to tell me yourself
but I am going to find out.
Mikhail: .....understood.
Alice: Welp, where should I start looking? The basement laboratory seems
the most obvious place for clues. Right! I'll head straight there.
---------> Warp back to the manor, then walk downstairs to the basement lab.
Alice: I hope I can find some sort of clue down here. Let's hurry and
investigate.
---------> Walk to the table in the bottom left corner.
Alice: Hm? What do we have here? It's Father's research report! Let's
see.. I wonder if there'll be anything in here about it?
Report: Genomroid. That is...
Alice: Ah! Here it is, right here! He did write about genomroid! All
right then, again from the top.
Report: Genomroid. That is a brand new being, one brought to life not by the
gods but created through the striving of ordinary man. As such, it is
imperfect as a life form. It must harvest supplemental energy from
the outside in order to survive. Calling the results so far a flop
wouldn't be an exaggeration. And yet, it is so close to the ideal that
it would be regrettable to discard. It will be necessary to develop a
means to...
Alice: *gulp* That's some weighty stuff. An artificial human. So that's
what a genomroid is, isn't it.
Alice: Looks like there's more. Let's read on. Lessee here...
/Lucille enters/
Lucille: Why hello there, Miss.
Alice: Eep!?
Alice: Oh, it's you Lucille. You gave me quite the fright.
Lucille: My, my, are you at it again? Goofing off again, and in a place like
this no less?
Alice: As I told you, I. am. not. goofing off!
Lucille: *sigh* Good grief. Are you sure you actually feel like rescuing the
professor?
Alice: What are you talking about?! It should be obvious that I do!
Lucille: Could've fooled me. If you cared, no way would you be wasting time
here in the manor, right?
Alice: Rrr! F-fine then! I'm going back down right now!
Lucille: Oh, but if you'd rather not bother, how about quitting?
Alice: No way could I drop it; don't be absurd!
Lucille: Huhu, is that so? Well then, do as you please. I couldn't care less
which you choose. Huhuhuhu. Keekekekeke.
/Lucille leaves/
Alice: I've had it with you, Lucille! You've gone beyond sarcastic teasing
straight into obnoxious jerk territory! You're lower than a snake's
belly in a wagon rut.
Alice: Ah well, standing here grumbling about her sure won't solve anything.
Back to the labyrinth it is! I'll get another earful from Lucille if
I don't get a move on.
--------> Go back to B15F and continue adventuring.
[14].B16F Fairy:
----------------
Fairy: Hey sister, have you found that guy you were looking for? Not yet?
I'm worried about him. Oh, that's right! I've got something good I
can give you. It'll surely come in handy.
/Obtained the pattern for magic dress Epinephre./
Fairy: Best of luck, y'know.
---------> Talk to her again.
Fairy: I don't have any more presents to give out. Sorry about that, y'know.
---------> Continue on adventuring.
B17F sales of roadesu, lisufa, nyukusu, zoriano, seruti.
[15].B18F Entry:
----------------
Alice: *pant, pant*. *pant, pant*
Alice: You mean there's still more? I've already come such a long way. Oh
cut it out, I'm exhausted.
Alice: Hmph. No use standing here bellyaching though. Let's keep going just
a bit further.
-------> Continue on adventuring.
[16].B19F Wizard:
-----------------
Wizard: .......
Alice: ? What are you doing?
Wizard: I'm setting up my products.
Alice: Products?
Wizard: I started up a shop. Buy something, will you?
(selling akubaru, rewiza, tyuunu, kuahha, seruti)
Wizard: I see, come again.
[17].B20F Entry:
----------------
Alice: *pant, pant*. *pant,pant*.
Alice: W-what's going on? Why do my feet feel so stubbornly heavy?
Alice: Something's weird! My body hurts so much all of a sudden. It wasn't
like this at all before.
Alice: *pant, pant*. *pant, pant*.
Alice: .......
Alice: Okay, I've calmed down some. Let's hurry on now.
--------> Continue on adventuring.
[18].B22F 3rd Room Entry:
-------------------------
Alice: Ur! Urgh. H-head spinning... Something's seriously wrong now...
Alice: A sanctuary? Perfect timing. I'll rest up a bit inside.
/Alice walks toward the sanctuary, but stops/
Alice: Urk...! My strength is failing me... Please, at least reach the
sanctuary.
/Alice enters/
Alice: Uggh....
Mikhail: Lady Alice? Has something happened?
Alice: Not much. I'm just feeling dizzy...
Mikhail: A-are you all right? To be safe, should you not rest up in the manor
for a time?
Alice: Don't make too big of a deal out of it. I'm fine. Just need to take
a little break...
Alice: Aaaaaaah!
Mikhail: Lady Alice?!
/Alice collapses/
Mikhail: Milady! Lady Alice!!
/Alice wakes up in her own room/
Alice: ......
Alice: Urrrr.
Mikhail: Ah, you're back with us.
Alice: Mikhail? Huh? Wait, why am I in my room?
Mikhail: Ah, do you not remember what happened? How you blacked out all of
a sudden?
Alice: Now that you mention it, that does sound familiar.
Mikhail: Goodness. Well, you ought to allow yourself to rest here for a
time I think.
Alice: Nah, I'm all good now.
Mikhail: Whatever are you saying! You've only just now awoken!
Alice: But, I really am fine. Look at this. See how energetic I am?
Mikhail: Please desist, Lady Alice! Your body is in precarious condition
right now!
Alice: But, Father needs....
Mikhail: I understand how you feel, but I implore you to give yourself more
rest.
Alice: You're being such a worrywart, Mikhail. I truly do feel right as
rain.
/Alice spins/
Alice: There, you see?
Mikhail: P-please stop that! Do you have a death wish?!
Alice: Eh?!
Mikhail: You were finally able to sustain life through the harvesting of
outside energy! Those magic dresses you've been using are bound to
that selfsame life force. If you carelessly overuse them then...!
Mikhail: Haa, haa.. (breathing heavily)
Alice: Tell me, what did you mean by all that?
Mikhail: Sorry, I got carried away. Please forget I said anything.
Alice: Mikhail!!
Mikhail: .......
Alice: (He said I live by absorbing energy from outside? My magic dresses
are linked to my life force? Absurd nonsense! He makes it sound as
if I'm just like a genomroid!) N-no way?!
Mikhail: Milady? What happened?
Alice: You've got to be kidding me! That can't be right!!
Mikhail: W-where might you be going?
Alice: I'm going to make certain! About everything!
/Alice leaves and goes to the basement lab/
/rustle, rustle/
Alice: Here it is. Father's research report! I hope reading the rest will
clear up all doubt.
Report: I used sometic cells from Anya to create the genomroid base body. One
can never truly bring back someone they've lost, and I understand that
full well. However, just being able to see Anya's visage again would
be enough. The base body that was born was indeed the spitting image
of my Anya, my daughter, at least on the outside. Seeing her filled
me with joy, as if my daughter had actually been reborn. Alas, when I
think of what came next that joy turns to depression. I had to
incorporate a certain ability into this girl, the ability to destroy
bordermoon orbs. Though it had to be done, it pained me to do it. I
had to take such a lovely girl and tailor-make her into something akin
to a weapon. Despite my grief I cannot afford to quit now. And that
being the case, at least I can treat this girl just as I would any
daughter of mine, with fatherly devotion and sincere affection. With
those feelings in mind I chose to name the girl, and call her Alice.
Alice: ..... O_O
Alice: N-no way! That can't be! Me being the genomroid. I won't believe
it. I'm a person!
Lucille: Awww, that's disappointing. So you finally found out, huh.
Alice: L-lucille?!
Lucille: Huhhuhhu. How does it feel to know that you're an imitation, nothing
more than a mere figurine?
Alice: Stop it! Don't call me a figurine! I am a person!
Lucille: Awww, good grief, how unsightly of you. You read the report, did you
not?
Alice: It's fake! The whole thing is full of downright lies!
Lucille: Huhun. What you just said is the real fib. You know good and well
that what's written in that memo is all factual. I suppose you're at
that point where you comprehend what it says but don't want to
believe it?
Alice: Th-that is.....
Lucille: Accept it. The fact that you're inhuman, you know?
Alice: No! I am a person, an ordinary human I tell you!
Lucille: Huhun. Can an ordinary person destroy a bordermoon, hmm? Can an
ordinary person make use of the magic in your dresses? Would an
ordinary person be able to survive being hunted by monsters?
Alice: .......
Lucille: Well? Do you still feel like insisting that you're human in spite of
those points?
Alice: .......
Lucille: Huhun. Alice, the little genomroid given new life simply to stomp
dark monsters. That's what you are.
Alice: Tsk!!
/Alice walks to the stairs/
Lucille: Running away are we, pitiful miss puppet? Huhu, huhuhuhu.
Alice: ---Tsk!!
/Fade to black/
/Knock, knock/
/Knock, knock, knock/
Mikhail: Lady Alice.
/Mikhail enters Alice's room/
Mikhail: Milady.
Alice: Cut that out! You probably knew too, didn't you? That I'm not a
human.
Mikhail: Yes, given that I served as the professor's research assistant.
Alice: Well then, don't bother being so kind to a nobody, to a fashion doll
like me!
Mikhail: I won't hear of such things. As far as I'm concerned, to me you are
none other than Lady Alice! I do not think of you as a doll. And
I'm quite certain the professor feels the same.
Alice: Lay off the consoling. It doesn't much matter what happens to me
anymore.
Mikhail: Whatever are you talking about! What do expect to accomplish with
an attitude like that! Just who was it that said they'd rescue the
professor!?
Alice: !
Mikhail: The professor must be down there waiting. Waiting for milady to
come and help break him out! Do you intend to leave him be?!
Alice: !!
Mikhail: The professor treasured you as a daughter. Will you forsake him
in return, milady?!
Alice: ......
Alice: You're right. I'm the only one who can break Father out, huh? All
right, Mikhail. I'm going back down! I'll let myself feel
depressed, but only after I bring Father back!
Mikhail: Agreed, milady! See you soon!
/Mikhail walks off/
-------> (Optional) Talk to him.
Mikhail: Milady, please take care out there.
-------> (Optional) Go check the Maid's Room.
Alice: Huh? Lucille's not here? Where could she have gotten to now?
Alice: Oh? Could this be Lucille's diary? Obviously, I have no choice but to
look through it. Uhuhuhu. Well then I think I'll open it right up
posthaste.
Diary: The world doesn't always go exactly as one hopes. That girl is somehow
interfering with my plans. Truly an eyesore she is. I must remove
this obstacle, and preferably by my own hand... There are any number
of ways to accomplish it. For instance, if I were to poison the food,
that would take the obstacle right out. That girl...
Alice: W-what is this?! Poison the food?! It can't be! She was targeting
me?
/Alice looks around/
Alice: Lucille! Lucille!! Where'd you go? Could she have run away?
Alice: Fine! I'm definitely going to find you and drag the truth out of you
if I have to!
--------> Continue on adventuring. Lucille never does show back up in any
room of the manor for the rest of the game that I could find. There
are a few monsters to talk to along the way but the next major
story trigger isn't until B30F.
Vampire: Kukuku. Welcome in.
Alice: Welcome in? You started up a shop?
Vampire: Exactly right. Today's opening day.
Alice: By any chance are you hurting for money?
Vampire: ......
Vampire: Anyway please take a look at my wares.
Wizard: Say something already.
Alice: You first.
Wizard: I don't have anything to talk about.
Alice: Me either.
Wizard: I see.
Alice: Yup.
[21].B28F Vampire:
------------------
Vampire: Yo, Mademoiselle. Kukuku. How are things with you?
Alice: They just took a turn for the worse.
Vampire: What? Because of me?
Alice: Bingo.
Vampire: Hold on, what about me is bad? Which part specifically don't you
like? Is it this, this wine, that doesn't work for you? Or is it
the way I adorn my behavior with pomp and circumstance? Or, do I
have an ugly mug? Perhaps I'm just innately repulsive? Ah, I bet
that's it. That just has to be it!
Alice: Whoa, I didn't say all that now!
Vampire: No problem, it's all good. This is worthless me we're talking
about after all.
Alice: Hellooo. Hold up.
Vampire: *mutter mutter*
Alice: I give up. This guy needs professional help.
------> (Optional) Talk to him again.
Vampire: *mutter mutter*
Alice: Ah, he's still depressed.
Vampire: *grumble grumble*
Alice: Think I'll just let him be alone.
[22].B29F Wizard:
Wizard: Need something from me?
Alice: No, I don't.
Wizard: ........
Wizard: Oh that's unfortunate. I was hoping for company to help pass the
time.
Alice: That's great and all, but I still don't need anything.
[23].B30F Vampire:
Vampire: Yo, Mademoiselle. Nice weather we're having today.
Alice: Nice weather? You know we're underground, right.
Vampire: ......
Alice: ......
Vampire: And on that note...
Alice: I'm so confused.
Vampire: Kukuku. I bid you farewell!
Alice: H-hey, hold up!
[24].B30F Safe Room:
--------------------
Alice: Oh, what is that?!
/Alice walks forward/
Alice: Father!
Nabokov: A-alice? Ohh, Alice, you made it?!
Alice: Oh I'm so thankful you're okay. Let me get you out of there right
now.
Nabokov: Don't bother. No matter how much you beat on it, the gordalis will
not break.
Alice: Gordalis? You mean this thing you're trapped inside?
Nabokov: Yes. This cage was created from formidable magic, powerful enough
that I daresay I won't be able to get out of it.
Alice: Father! Don't give up before we've even tried!
Nabokov: Alice, leave me. Get out of here and save yourself.
Alice: I can't, Father! Are you really sure it's hopeless? Isn't there
something, anything, we can try?
Nabokov: Oh all right. In that case check with Mikhail. He might have some
thoughts.
Alice: Ah, Mikhail, huh... Understood, Father. Let me go ask!
/Alice departs/
Nabokov: Alice, don't wear yourself out...
--------> Go see Mikhail in any sanctuary (one is two rooms to the left of
the bordermoon, on B30F).
Alice: Mikhail! Do you know how to break a gordalis?
Mikhail: Gordalis! Milady where did you hear that word?
Alice: I found father being held inside one.
Mikhail: Is that so. Hmm.. That presents quite the problem.
Alice: Well, Mikhail. Isn't there some way to break it? Well? Well?
Mikhail: It's not as though we have zero options, but...
Alice: Okay, please tell me what needs to be done.
Mikhail: This is going to be rather troublesome.
Alice: Oh sheesh. Stop beating around the bush and spill it, would you!
I'm willing to try anything I have to if it means being able to save
Father.
Mikhail: Very well. In that case there are some things I must ask you to
find.
Alice: What should I be looking for?
Mikhail: Two sacred items are required to free the professor.
Alice: Sacred items? Well which ones for heaven's sake?
Mikhail: I do not know. I suppose they'd have to be ones that could wear down
evil power...
Alice: All right. And? Where are those going to be?
Mikhail: Most likely somewhere inside the labyrinth. I'm a bit lacking in
particulars....
Alice: Great. I'm clueless as to where I should start looking, and I don't
know much about what I'm looking for. I agree, that certainly is a
pain. But I've got to go through with it!
Mikhail: Can you handle it?
Alice: Yep, I'm absolutely going to come back with them!
Mikhail: If you should locate anything, please bring it here at once.
Alice: All right.
/Alice begins walking away/
Alice: It's just like me to talk big even though I've nary a clue to go on.
Better start by gathering some intel. How about I try asking the
vampire? He seems like he might know something about sacred items.
-------> Go to the vampire in the B30F bordermoon room, two rooms to the
right of Alice's current position.
Alice: Hey.
Vampire: Oh? Mademoiselle. Kukuku... Have you some business with me?
Alice: Do you know anything about sacred items?
Vampire: Hm. Now that you mention it I do recall hearing that phrase
somewhere.
Alice: Oh? You know something? Say, tell me! Where are they?!
Vampire: I couldn't give you a specific location. But, what I heard went a
little something like this: "Stand in the heart of a cross inscribed
upon an underworld lake and sacred water shall gush forth."
Alice: The heart of a cross inscribed upon an underworld lake? What's that
all about?
Vampire: There must be a place matching that description somewhere in the
labyrinth.
Alice: Then, if I can make it there?!
Vampire: Sacred water... In other words, holy water, is what you'll acquire.
Alice: Thank you. I'm going to check it out!
Vampire: Right. Best of luck to you. Kukuku....
--------> Go to (((SPOILER ALERT))) the safe room on B29F and stand in the
center of the cross as instructed. The story will continue when you
find the right square.
Alice: The heart of a cross inscribed upon an underworld lake... I think this
must be it.
/Flashes/
Alice: W-what is this?! Such beautiful water.... Surely this must be holy
water right?! Let's scoop some up.
/Obtained holy water/
--------> Go to Mikhail in any sanctuary, like B29F's which is one screen down
then one right, to report in as instructed.
Alice: I've got myself some holy water. Better find the other one fast.
/Alice walks forward/
Mikhail: Milady. Have you gathered the sacred items?
Alice: I found holy water, but I'm still working on the other one.
Mikhail: Please try to hurry! We don't have much more time!
Alice: I know that already! But I don't have any other leads...
Mikhail: I-I see.
Alice: Anything at all no matter how small would help. Can you think of
anything, Mikhail?
Mikhail: I wish I could, but... Actually, I wonder.
Alice: Eh?
Mikhail: The wizards might know something useful.
Alice: Why's that?
Mikhail: Sacred items and magic are related, or so I've heard. Thus it stands
to reason they ought to...
Alice: Makes sense, Mikhail! I'll try looking for a wizard!
Mikhail: Good luck. And take care.
--------> Go to B29F's bordermoon room (exit the sanctuary) and talk to the
wizard there.
Alice: Hey, got a sec?
Wizard: Do you need something?
Alice: Do you know anything about sacred items?
Wizard: I'm unfamiliar.
Alice: Hey hold on! Put a little more thought into it than that. We're
talking a matter of life and death here.
Wizard: When I'm not familiar with something all I can say is "I'm
unfamiliar".
Alice: Oh please don't leave it at that. Any scrap of info would be great.
Anything you've overheard?
Wizard: .....Now that you mention it. I recall hearing that someone has added
an unusual book to their shop inventory.
Alice: An unusual book?
Wizard: Probably meaning a holy book, a bible.
Alice: A holy book?! Could that be one of the sacred items I need?!
Wizard: Most likely.
Alice: So who is it then? Who's selling it?
Wizard: If I'm not mistaken it was on B26F....
Alice: On B26F right? Got it!
Wizard: ....I'm not exactly certain about that though.
Alice: Hey now! Don't do that!
Wizard: How about you go find out?
Alice: A-all right.
---------> Go to the bordermoon room on B26F. Talk to the vampire.
Vampire: Yo, mademoiselle. Kukuku. Welcome in. Oh, by the way, I've placed
an unusual item up for sale. Take a look.
-Bible, L2000. One of the items necessary for rescuing the
professor. Will you buy it? (yes)(no)
Vampire: If you feel the urge, come on back again. Kukkukku.
---------> Buy the bible for L2000. If you don't have enough money, some
monsters that frequently drop pounds are marked in the section V
maps, or perhaps you already have your favorite earning spot.
Once you've made the purchase, go report again to Mikhail now that
you have both items.
Alice: I've collected both sacred items. Now, let's show them to Mikhail.
/Walk to mikhail/
Alice: Mikhail, I found them! A bible and holy water! Look! These should
work for sacred items right?
Mikhail: Oh! That's it! Those shall do nicely!
Alice: Oh thank goodness! Now that we have these, we can help Father right?
Mikhail: No, collecting those was just step one. Please take this.
Alice: What's this, a pattern? Hm? Does that mean step two is sewing a
dress from this?
Mikhail: You are correct, milady. And, once you've finished everything,
something ought to happen.
Alice: And what is that something?
Mikhail: You'll see when the time comes. For now please just trust me.
Alice: Fair enough, Mikhail. I'll take your word for it.
Mikhail: You have my thanks. Now, milady. Hurry to a sewing room!
Alice: Right!
/Obtained the pattern for the magic dress Argus/
--------> Talk to Mikhail again.
Mikhail: In order to craft the dress Argus, you'll need akubaru, tyuunu,
fomoru, and oreusu. These items are frequently carried by monsters
on B30F. Good luck, milady.
--------> Go back to B30F, hunt items as needed, then sew the dress in the
sewing room directly south of the bordermoon room. The story will
continue when the dress is complete. Note that you won't be able
to change into Argus on your own even when it's done, as that dress
is locked to specific story scenes where it's automatically used.
Alice: A bible and holy water. And the dress. Now I've gathered up
everything.
Alice: ......
Alice: ......
Alice: What's up! Nothing special is happening here! Mikhail, you're touched
in the head! "Just trust me on this"? Oh come on. "Something's going
to happen"? Yeah right. Oh for heaven's sake what the heck am I
supposed to do now. I won't be able to save Father like this! Oh,
Father....
/Flashes of light/
Alice: Eh? W-what?!
/Alice looks around/
Alice: Ah! The bible and holy water are glowing?! Kyaaa!
/Flashes, and the background blanks/
Alice: Wait, what? What just happened?
Voice: Daughter.
Alice: Eh?!
Voice: Daughter. Your feelings towards your Father, your wish... I have
heard your plea.
Alice: Wait, who? Who are you?
Voice: I bestow power onto you. Onto your soul and into your dress, the power
necessary for your task. It is the power to protect someone important
to you. Hallowed power to purify the wicked. This holy sword!!
Alice: Kyaaaaa?!
/Back to reality/
Alice: Oof. Sheesh, what the devil was that!
Alice: Oh, what's this? Such a beautiful blade... This must be the holy
sword. So this is what Mikhail meant.
Alice: Now that I have this sacred sword, I should be able to help Father.
Surely!
/Obtained the holy sword/
Alice: Now, let's hurry on to where Father is!
Alice: But, that voice, I wonder whose it was? Surely not God's?! Yeah, like
that could happen.
--------> Go stand in front of the door to where Nabokov is being held, two
rooms north. If you want, SAVE before you go inside, because it's
the LAST TIME in the game you'll be able to do so. Enter when
ready.
/Alice auto-changes clothes into Argus/
Alice: This should do it. I have to be wearing this dress in order to use
the holy sword. All right, let's go.
/Alice walks to Nabokov/
Alice: Father!
Nabokov: Ha ha ha ha. Oh, ohhh, Alice!
Alice: Father, are you okay? Still with us?
Nabokov: I'm fine. I can't die yet. I still have work to do after all.
Alice: Hang on! I'm getting you out of there!
Nabokov: Is that even possible? Can you?
Alice: With this holy sword I sure ought to be able to!
/Alice chops him free/
Nabokov: Oh, ohh!
Alice: Father!
Nabokov: Thanks. Sorry to have worried you, Alice.
Alice: It's no problem. I'm just glad you're all right.
Nabokov: Now, let's head home. Mikhail will be waiting for us.
Alice: Right!
/The ground shakes/
Alice: Kyaa!?
Nabokov: That's not good! Now that the gordalis was destroyed, the labyrinth
itself has begun to collapse! Alice, let's move. We've got to get
out of here fast.
Alice: Understood!
/They make it back to the manor's basement/
Nabokov: Whew. Looks like we somehow made it back in one piece.
Mikhail: Dr. Nabokov!
Nabokov: Oh, Mikhail. Sorry I made you worry, too.
Mikhail: I'm so pleased you're unharmed!
Nabokov: Yes, we narrowly escaped being crushed. That, and everything else
too, was all thanks to you, Alice.
Nabokov: Alice, what's wrong?
/Alice collapses/
Nabokov: W-what? Oh no! Mikhail! Start the preparations!
Mikhail: F-for that?
Nabokov: Indeed. For Astulla! Quickly now!
Mikhail: A-As you wish!
/Alice wakes up in a sanctuary/
Alice: Uuurrrrrgh....
Nabokov: Oh, Alice. You've awoken.
Alice: Father? What happened?
Nabokov: I'll explain later. Right now we're going to perform a ceremony.
Alice: Eh?!
Nabokov: Your body has been pushed to its limits. Now you're on Death's
doorstep, reaching out to knock.
Alice: I see. So I really was nothing more than a mere doll.
Nabokov: Don't be ridiculous! You're nothing of the sort! To me you are a
treasured daughter and I, I, do not want to lose you!
Mikhail: Exactly! I feel that same way too. So please, do not say such sad
things.
Alice: Father... Mikhail....
Nabokov: I would like for you to live life as a human. For you to find
happiness as a human!
Alice: As a person? Father. What are you talking about?
Mikhail: The purpose of Astulla, the ceremony we're about to perform, is to
turn you into a human being, milady.
Alice: !
Alice: F-father....
Nabokov: Alice. You are simply my daughter. And that is why we're holding
this ceremony. All right?
Alice: Y-yes!
Nabokov: Good. Mikhail! Let's begin the rite!
Mikhail: As you wish. Leave it to me.
/The Astulla ceremony begins/
Mikhail: Hear our prayer.
Nabokov: We command you.
Mikhail: Mother of all life, oh endless land.
Nabokov: How beautiful your flows, wavering water.
Mikhail: Time passing and time lost, we now call for your return!
Nabokov: Now show yourself here. In that righteous form, utopia!
/Flashes/
Mikhail: Urk, uuugggh?!
Nabokov: Hrm? What's wrong, Mikhail?
Mikhail: Uuggh, gugugugu.
Alice: Hey, are you okay? Are you in pain? Hey?
Mikhail: .........
Nabokov: Earth to Mikhail, get ahold of yourself man!
Mikhail: Huhhuhhu.....
Alice: Mikhail? What happened to you?!
/Flashes/
Alice: Kyaa!
/Mikhail transforms into Lucille/
Lucille: Huhhuhhu.
Alice: Eh?! Wha? Wha? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!! Mikhail became Lucille?!
Lucille: At last, at last I've done it! Huhuhu, huhuhuhuhu.
Keeeeekkekekekeke!
Alice: What the heck is this? What just happened?
Nabokov: Thought so. Thought that was the case.
Alice: Huh?
Nabokov: Alice. The two of them live within a single body, as two sides of
the same coin. Although Mikhail himself is likely unaware of that
fact.
Lucille: Oh my. Professor, you realized it?
Nabokov: I suspected but wasn't certain of it.
Alice: F-father! Explain it to me! Whatever do you mean?
Nabokov: Mikhail was originally an acolyte in the service of the dark lord
Varuudanu. However, he loved humanity. And so he backstabbed the
dark lord and saved us all!
Lucille: Huhun. But that complete idiot failed to realize something. That
he had been posessed by "me", living deep inside.
Alice: Then that would mean.. No way?!
Lucille: Huhhuhhuhhu. Right. As of now I've fully subverted this vessel and
it is mine.
Alice: You gotta be kidding!?
Lucille: And with that, my mission is nearly complete.
Nabokov: A mission, you say? To do what?
Lucille: We are resurrecting Lord Varuudanu, our god. Obviously.
Alice: What did you say?!
Lucille: Now that Mikhail is no longer in the way... Huhhuhhuhhu.
Nabokov: S-stop! Stop at once! Why unleash a disaster?! If Varuudanu is
reborn, the world will be demolished. Mankind will go extinct!
Alice: N-not that! Don't do it, Lucille!
Lucille: Keekkekekekeke! Oh I had nooo idea such a thing would happen.
Lucille: Now, Lord Varuudanu, our god! It is the hour of your rebirth!
Obliterate this world with your absolute power! Wipe out all of the
people! Keeeeekkekekekeke! In fact, how about you start with the
pesky brat there and give her an especially brutal demise!
Alice: !? O_O
Alice: Ugghhh....
Alice: Where am I?
Varuudanu: Rrooooooooooar!
/Alice walks up to the huge creature/
Alice: !! I can't believe it! This is Varuudanu?! Then, I'm inside a
Varuudanu-made dimensional pocket?!
Varuudanu: Rroooooooooar!
Alice: Eep!
/Alice slowly walks away/
Alice: I-I can't. I don't stand a chance against that thing!
Alice: I-I've got to get out of here!
Alice: Eh? The holy sword is glowing?!
Varuudanu: Roar! Ro-roaaaaaaaaaaaaaar!?
Alice: Wait, is this light affecting it?
Varuudanu: Gu, guooooo?!
Alice: Varuudanu's recoiling! It is! The light is having an effect!
Well now, this fight might just be winnable after all. This holy
sword might be enough to topple that abomination. To end
Varuudanu!
Varuudanu: RoooooooOOoooOOoaaar!!
Alice: That's right, Alice! Running away from this won't do! If that's
all I do then Father and Mikhail are going to die! Everyone I care
about will be gone! Unacceptable! So, I'm going in. I've got to
do this.
Alice: "It has to be me!"
/Boss fight (yes, fight) begins immediately/
Varuudanu Fight:
----------------
The boss has a repeating attack pattern. You can tell it's about to launch
one of the below-mentioned volleys when it raises its arms. It does these
three attacks, usually in order, with pauses to walk around in between.
Successfully hurting it with the holy sword will make it start over from the
first attack type.
A: Fires about 4 beams in straight lines from its belly, toward wherever
Alice is standing.
B: Breathes cloud-like projectiles that spiral outward toward Alice.
C: Punches with its arms three times.
Just like in the game, one hit means death. As you must wear Argus, the
teleportation-on-touch dress Iscarpe is not available.
Alice slashes with the sword via the Y button. Fortunately, you can run and
attack at will without draining any DP. Damage the boss by chopping it in the
shoulder, from the side. Eleven (11) hits in a row will kill the boss and
finish the game.
The basic strategy is to hang out near the boss and dodge its projectiles,
while trying to get around the side of it (without it immediately turning to
face you). The boss will change directions only when it is standing still,
so once it starts moving in a particular direction, that's when you quickly
flank it. It moves only about three squares forward before stopping again
to unleash an attack and then turn, so you have to either be fast, or once
you get used to its movement, predict where Alice is going to need to stand
and go straight there.
Slash with the sword when you can, and run when you hear the sound effects
that indicate it fired its beams. Make good use of L/R to turn quickly
without taking steps, as this is a big help getting in position to attack the
shoulder without accidentally touching the boss and dying.
This fight is challenging at first because it's a new dress and the general
game controls make it difficult to stay in melee range without getting hurt
yourself. But the boss becomes doable, and eventually even pretty easy, once
you get the hang of it. Gameovers restart you from the boss fight, so you
essentially have infinite tries to get it right.
/Eventually the boss goes down!/
Alice: Haah, haah. T-take that! But.... My body's.. giving out.. and it's
really the end of the line for me too, it seems...
/Alice collapses, fade to black/
/segue to the epilogue/
[25].Epilogue:
--------------
/Knock knock knock/
Mikhail: Milady. Good morning.
Alice: Oh, 'morning. Nice day, isn't it.
Mikhail: I have finished preparing breakfast, so if you would please make your
way to the dining room.
Alice: Okay, I will. What about Father?
Mikhail: He is still asleep.
Alice: That figures. Sheesh. He's turned into such a lazy bum since he got
back.
Mikhail: That's certainly an exaggeration. It must be his research work that
exhausts him so.
Alice: Well, either way. All righty, I'll go wake him up myself.
Mikhail: Gently, please, if you would.
Alice: Huhu, I know.
/Alice walks out of her room, starting towards Nabokov's room/
Alice: One month has already passed since the incident.
/Alice walks/
Alice: A lot has happened.
/Alice walks/
Alice: Back then, I was....
/Flashback start/
Voice: Alice! Alice! Open your eyes, Alice!
Alice: Mmrmmmnng......
Nabokov: Oh, Alice! You're awake!
Alice: F-father....
Nabokov: Well done, Alice. Varuudanu's resurrection has been halted, and we
have you to thank for it.
/Alice looks around/
Nabokov: What is it, Alice?
Alice: Where's Mikhail?
Nabokov: ......
Alice: D-don't tell me he?!
/Slam/
Alice: W-who's there?
Alice: Lucille?! You survived?!
Lucille: .......
Nabokov: Lucille, Varuudanu is no more. What you hoped for shall not come to
pass!
Lucille: .......
Alice: Hold on, Father. Something's off here, wouldn't you say?
/Flashes/
Alice: Kyaa!?
/Lucille changes into Mikhail/
Mikhail: .......
Alice: Mikhail! Is it really you, Mikhail?!
Mikhail: Huh? Where on Earth have I been all this time?
Alice: Ehhh? You don't remember a thing?
Nabokov: Varuudanu's defeat has broken the hold that a dark power had on you.
Alice: Then did Lucille die?
Nabokov: I told you, right? Mikhail and Lucille are two sides of the same
coin. She likely still lives on, deep within him. Not that she'll
be able to assert herself again, though.
Alice: Hmmmm. I wonder if it's okay to leave things that way?
Nabokov: Who can say.
Mikhail: Excuse me. What are you two talking about?
Alice: S-e-cret!
Nabokov: Indeed, it's private.
Mikhail: O-oh, you two....
Alice: Huhuhu.
Nabokov: Well then. How about we get started?
Mikhail: Oh? Started on what?
Nabokov: It's obvious. Astulla.
Mikhail: Ah!
Nabokov: Alice has been pushing the limits of her endurance, putting up a
brave front so that she wouldn't cause us to worry. The strain has
caught up to her, and her body really has run out of time.
Alice: Father, so you noticed that, huh.
Nabokov: Of course I did. Alice, you're my daughter. You needn't hold back
your troubles.
Alice: ...... Okay!
Nabokov: Good. Then, let's begin.
/Astulla ceremony starts/
Mikhail: Hear our prayer.
Nabokov: We command you.
Mikhail: Mother of all life, oh endless land.
Nabokov: How beautiful your flows, wavering water.
Mikhail: Time passing and time lost, we now call for your return!
Nabokov: Now show yourself here. In that righteous form, utopia!
/Flashback ends/
Alice: The environment around us has changed completely.
/Alice walks/
Alice: However, Mikhail is serving as our butler just as before.
/Alice walks/
Alice: Father, as usual, is doing nothing but research, research, research.
I wish he would spend a bit more time with me. It's just a smidge,
but some days I can feel a little lonely.
/Alice walks/
Alice: But, that's okay. Because no matter what, now I am.....
/Alice enters the library/
Alice: I have been reborn, now as a regular everyday human being.
/Alice walks/
Alice: I am no longer a doll. No longer a genomroid!
/Alice walks to the bedroom door/
Alice: I will live on as a person, surrounded by those I love....
/Knock knock, knock knock knock/
Alice: Good morning, Father! It's time to wake up!
the maps below, but you might get additional drops not listed. The monster
abbreviations used are explained at the very end of this section.
* Doors to the rooms are shown in their relative positions so you know about
where to look for the exits.
* Sanctuaries are on floors 2,5,7,9,11,13,15,18,20,22,24,25,26,27,28,29,30.
* You will need at least 2000L by the end of the game, but otherwise money is
optional throughout since the things you can buy are the same items that
monsters drop. 9999L is the cap.
* The sewing room on B7F is a good place to go if you're near a sanctuary but
not a sewing room on your floor. It's quick to go north and destroy the
bordermoon that's just inside the door, which then opens up the sewing
room to the south.
Legend:
/// = Bordermoon orb room
vvv = Exit to next floor down
;;; = Entry from previous floor up
~~~ = Safe room
# = number of magic circles to step on in that room (upper right corner)
