I. Introduction From The Author - [INTFA]
Hello and welcome to my very first guide. I have written this guide
because I was bored and wanted to help out my fellow JUS (Jump! Ultimate
Stars) players. Whenever I unlock a koma, I would try it out and get rid
of the "new" icon. At this point, I had never heard of Houshin Engi or
even know that it was a part of Shounin Jump. Thought I am more familiar
with the popular series like Naruto, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin; Houshin
Engi had something that made me want to read it. After a month of reading
and completing the manga series, I decided to write a guide to help people
familiarize themselves with Taikoubou and the Houshin Engi series.
II. The Basics of the Game - [GMBSC]
It is very easy to learn the basics of Jump! Ultimate Stars. The way
I see the game is to unlock the 800+ komas so you could go online and
show the world your skills. When you first play Jump! Ultimate Stars,
you would have Naruto (up to 4 Panels), Luffy (up to 4 panels), Goku
(up to 3 Panels), Muhyo (up to 1 Panel), and Gintoki (up to 1 panel)
to start out with. As you complete missions in the J-Adventure mode,
you would unlock more characters (as help komas) and gems. The gems,
which comes in 6 different colors, are needed to unlock upgrades and
more komas. To have a more in-depth understanding to the game, please
refer to Genroh's guide. The guide should be sufficient with provide
even more information about Jump! Ultimate Stars. Also, the guide
contains translation for the game.
If you need to locate Genroh's guide, just go to the main "FAQ's & Guide"
page on the Jump! Ultimate Stars section of GameFAQs.
III. Unlocking the Houshin Engi Stage - [UNLOK]
To unlock the Houshin Engi series, you have to unlock Outenkun (or Ou
Tenkun). To get this character, you must complete Mission Stage 1,
objective 6 (aka SP) in the One Piece planet. All you need to do is to
simply get the most points and not recieve any damage. Once you unlock
this character, find him in the evolution menu of the game. To find series
easily in the evolution menu, simply press L and push the A button. After
this, highlight the Houshin Engi icon (a white box with red borders and
contains two Chinese characters). Once you have this done, you have to
spend a whopping 400 pink gems to unlock Houshin Engi/Death Note/Yu-Gi-Oh
planet system. Here are the missions and its objectives translated for
Houshin Engi:
CREDITS TO GENROH FOR TRANSLATING AND WRITING THE MISSION OBJECTIVES AND PRIZES
MISSION 1
1. KO Taikoubou before time runs out
Unlock: Taikoubou
2. KO Taikoubou within 1 minute
3. KO Taikoubou with a Special Attack
4. KO Taikoubou with a Support Character
5. KO Taikoubou within 40 seconds
Unlock: Dakki
MISSION 2
1. Get more wins than your opponent
Unlock: Sipuxiang
2. KO with a Special Attack
3. Get 3 points more than your opponent
4. Get 4 points more than your opponent
5. Get 5 points more than your opponent
Out of the dozens of characters in Houshin Engi, only 4 characters are
availble in Jump! Ultimate Stars. *sighs* At least you can unlock it
fairly early...
IV. About Houshin Engi - [ABTHE]
The story of Taikoubou and his famous rebellion takes place in 11th
century China. During this time, spirit beasts and Senins existed
among with the human. Sennins are humanoids with the powers to
perform miracles via their Paopei(s) and because of this, they were
feared.
After centuries of training, a doushi (an apprentice) named Taikoubou was
given a mission from his master. Taikoubou was to take part in the massive
mission named "The Houshin Project." Taikoubou's job was to eliminate the
evil Sennins from the human world. His biggest target was an infamous
manipulator named Dakki. Dakki was a Sennin who controlled the King Chuuou
through her powers of seduction to build lavish buildings at the expense of
the citizens. Seeing that this is something that is intolerable, Taikoubou
made is own personal mission to get rid of her.
Being a very good tactician, Taikoubou managed to infiltrate into the
Imperial Castle posing as a musician. Taikoubou managed to fool everyone,
but Dakki. In fact, Dakki had something planned for Taikoubou. While
Taikoubou was planning, Dakki threw him a tactical curve ball that cost
Taikoubou the lives of citizens. From this point, Taikoubou realized two
things. First, Taikoubou realized that he SEVERELY underestimated the
tactical prowess of Dakki. Second, Taikoubou needs more powerful allies
to take on Dakki. This reminds me of the classic Suikoden series.

I don't know what does and doesn't work in a corner. But, you can create an
Up+X infinite if the stage has a full upper-right corner. The infinite IS
on the combo counter, the highest I've gotten it is 73, but I don't know
what the real max is.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: 100 seems to be a lot to anyone. Like the previous combos, I
simply added all of the hits together (including the Up+Y). Also,
this combo is hard to perform.
6 koma:
1. B Up+B X seems to work, probably not though

IX. Ally Boost Data - [ALLYB]
Similar to the previous edition, Jump! Ultimate Stars allows the battle
characters to recieve "ally boosts" from certain characters. In the case
of Taikoubou, he recieves a boost from the following characters:
1. Dakki - Houshin Engi
2. Suupuusan - Houshin Engi
3. Raamenman (aka Mongoruman) - Kinnikuman
There is a few things to know about ally boosts before we do anything.
• You have to put the compatible character (whether as help, support,
battle komas) next to the battle character that you
want to be boosted.
To know that there is a boost, you'll see a sparkle on the battle
character of interest. Also, you'll get a line from ally booster if you
do this for the first time.
• When you boost a battle character, there is a health increase. Each
boost give the battle character an additional 8 HP (Health Points).
Unfortunately, all compatible characters gives only 8 HP regardless of
amount of panels the komas has. Another words, a 1 panel Dakki gives the
same 8 HP bonus as a 3 panel Dakki gives a 8 HP bonus. Fortunately, we
can aspire to be winners by stacking on boosts! This mean that you could
gather all three of the compatible characters and give your favorite
battle character a bonus of 24 HP!
• Knowing that we can stack on extra HP, you can give your boosted battle
character an additional 8 HP by making him the leader. Not too shabby...
• When you boost a character with a support koma, you do not just get extra
HP. You can also increase your SP as well. You can get up to 1 extra SP
for each support koma. Since stacking is allowed, you can give your battle
character 3 extra SP. Unfortunately, not all help komas give extra SP.
Only a few help komas provides 1 extra SP at the expense of not having any
other special trait. If anyone else knows more of any other upgrade that
I did not mention, please tell me.
Having this covered, you can go forth and rock on!
NOTE: Thanks for Genroh for reminding me to write this section. I meant to
write it in the original draft, but I managed to forget.
X. My Final Thoughts - [FTHTS]
Taikoubou and rest of the Houshin Engi series has some use, but I personally
would not place him as a high tiered character. Despite his short comings
(such as the Up-X from the 6 Panel Komas and the lack of other usable
characters), there are some good things that I like as a fan. First, I love
how various characters serve as certain commands. Second, I can make good use
of the "revive" support koma for decks that contains more than 1 characters.
I'll add more to write later.
