INTRODUCTION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi, this is my first time writing a FAQ for a fighting game, so bear with
me, ok? Bleach is my favorite manga, so naturally I rushed through the
game to get to the Bleach world. I was best with Ichigo in the last game,
and thought I'd be so in this one too. Ichigo is the protagonist of Bleach
by Tite Kubo. He is a human who was given the powers of a Shinigami, who
are samurai-esque characters who govern Soul Society and direct the flow
of the souls of the dead. Some of those may not be directed, and they
turn into Hollows, evil spirits which are the enemies of the Soul Reapers.
If you want to know more about Ichigo, check the article on him at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichigo_Kurosaki
Beware, there are many spoilers there if you don't like to be spoiled.
If you don't know what Ichigo looks like(yet), he's the character in black
robes with orange hair and a sword.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Koma
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ichigo's Help Koma is unlocked by doing Objective 1 of the first mission in
the Bleach world. You just have to get more points than everyone else,
simple. It increases the special amount gained when you attack or block
when placed next to a Battle Koma.
This is how Ichigo's Koma Tree goes:
-2-3
H-
-4-5-6-7-8
Costs:
Help: Free
2-Support: 40 Red, 5 White
3-Support: 80 Red, 20 Green, 10 White
4-Battle: 150 Red, 10 White
5-Battle: 300 Red, 100 Green, 20 White
6-Battle: 500 Red, 100 Green, 30 White
7-Battle: 600 Red, 200 Green, 200 White
8-Battle: 900 Red, 500 Green, 300 White
To unlock Ichigo's 7-Koma and 8-Koma for purchase, buy the first upgrade of
Zangetsu, which costs 200 Red and 100 Blue. Zangetsu is a man with brown
hair and beard. The total cost of Ichigo, including Zangetsu, is:
2770 Red, 920 Green, 575 White, and 100 Blue. Expensive, isn't it?
Anyway, on to Koma description.
Support Koma are Koma that take up two to three spaces, and you can tap the
Koma for a summon that can do anything from healing you, breaking combos,
or attacking the enemy. Battle Koma are playable characters like in any
other fighting game. They are the ones you use to fight. Ichigo's best
Koma are his Battle.
Ichigo's Help Koma, as said above, increases the amount of SP you gain when
you attack or block. This is useful on multihitting characters such as Dio
or Luffy.
Ichigo's 2-Koma support is shaped horizontally, and it summons him to
throw Kon, a stuffed animal, for no damage what so ever. The good thing
about it is that it causes the opponant to not be able to switch their
Battle Character for a short time. Good for if somebody keeps changing
their characters for recovery.
Ichigo's 3-Koma support is shaped as:
[][]
[]
It summons him to come and give you a boost rather than do something
detrimental to your foes. It gives you the great ability to reduce the
damage you take by half for a short time.
On to the fun part, Battle Koma. These are what you'll be spending most
of your time with, so they are important. These are the basic things all
Ichigo battle Koma have in common: Air dashing, gaining more SP energy
while you fight, and his UA. Ichigo's UA is a shout, increasing the
potency of his Y-Attacks. Ichigo's 7 and 8 Battle Koma have a different
UA, where he rips off his Hollow mask, gaining energy but losing some of
his health.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attacks
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attacking is done with a direction, and either B, Y, or X. B is for when
you want to step into a combo, or when you want to deal some damage as well
as gaining SP. If you feel like expanding you basic B-Combos, then use the
Y-Attacks. These have longer attack times, but they deal heavier damage
when compared to B-Attacks. To end your combo with a blast, follow up with
a Special. These, like Support Koma, take up one bar of SP, but are worth
it. Each Battle Koma has different specials, though all have the common
Getsuga Tenshou, an energy wave shot from the sword.
Ichigo's 4-6 Koma Attacks are as follows:
(Attack description) (Damage to Power/Laughter) (Damage to Knowledge)
B-Attacks
B: A simple, horizontal sword slash. 10 damage, 15 damage.
> or <B: Ichigo steps and does a vertical slash. 10 damage, 15 damage.
^B: Ichigo slashes in a wide sweep, hitting around him. 9 damage, 13damage
vB: Ichigo yells, and makes an energy wave around him. Forces the enemy to
change their Battle Koma if they get hit. 10 damage, 15 damage.
Y-Attacks
Y: Ichigo spins his sword over his head, which can hit more if Y rapidly
pressed. Damage from 6-14, 9-21.
> or <Y: Ichigo slashes and shoots off a small Getsuga Tenshou, which can
travel for a small distance. 15 damage, 22 damage.
^Y: Ichigo slashes and shoots off a small Getsuga Tenshou, hitting to his
upper diagnol. 15 damage, 22 damage/
vY: Ichigo makes a small shockwave by thrusting his sword into the ground.
Breaks guards. 18 damage, 27 damage.
Here is where Ichigo's battle Koma from 4-6 differ. They have different
special attacks.
4-Koma Ichigo:
X: A Getsuga Tenshou. 30 damage, 45 damage.
^X: A Getsuga Tenshou shot above Ichigo's head. 33 damage, 49 damage.
5-Koma Ichigo:
X: A bigger, longer distanced Getsuga Tenshou. 38 damage, 57 damage.
^X: Ichigo says something, then increases his attack power for a short time
though you can't change Battle Koma until it wears off.
6-Koma Ichigo:
X: Zangetsu appears to help Ichigo fire off a giant Getsuga Tenshou.
45 damage, 67 damage.
^X: Ichigo points and gains a longer lasting attack boost without the side
effect.
After these Koma, Ichigo goes Bankai. His entire moveset changes, and he
gets faster.
Bankai B-Moves
B: Still a standard horizontal slash. 9 damage, 13 damage.
< or >B: Ichigo steps foward and slashes. 9 damage, 13 damage.
^B: Ichigo stabs above him, hitting them slightly into the air. 9 damage,
13 damage/
vB: Ichigo yells, making a shockwave that causes a forced change. 9 damage
13 damage.
Bankai Y-Moves
Y: Ichigo slashes all around him, which can hit many times if you keep
pressing Y. Sends anyone affected flying. 11-20, 16-30.
< or >Y: Ichigo flashsteps foward, and if he finds an enemy he turns and
slashes it once. 18 damage, 27 damage/
^Y: Ichigo flashsteps up, and if he finds an enemy he'll slash them down
to the stage.
vY: Ichigo stabs into the stage, releasing energy that breaks guards.
Hits for 18, 27 damage.
7-Koma Specials
X: A special Tensa Zangetsu version of his normal Getsuga Tenshou. It
travels farther and hits for 50, 75 . Randomly Ichigo's inner Hollow will
take over and shoot a gigantic version hitting for 75,112 , but giving you
an energy degeneration status effect. Each use refills some special energy
^X: Ichigo flashsteps diagonally, and annhilates anyone in the way with a
crazy aerial sword combo. Hits a wide area for damage depending on hits.
51, 74.
8-Koma Specials
Note: I do not think that Ichigo's 8-Koma is good at all, but if you like
it...
X: Ichigo puts on his Hollow mask and shoots a TREMENDOUS Getsuga Tenshou,
hitting for 55, 82.
^X: Ichigo puts on his Hollow mask and does his 7-Koma ^X. The only good
thing about this is that it can hit a grounded foe if they are right in
front of you, rather than being strictly for enemies in the air. 65, 97.
Both of Ichigo's Hollow form specials have a long start-up time, which is
why I suggest 7-Koma if you would like to use Bankai.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Combos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What would a fighting game be without combos? They add up for massive
amounts of damage with many hits. Jump Ultimate Stars is full of them, and
to suceed you'll have to use them. Ichigo, non-Bankai, is not very good
for combos, but his Bankai form can do many. If anyone wants to submit a
favorite for his 4-6 Komas, go ahead and I'll give you credit.
Bankai Combos:
B, ^B, ^X(7-Koma) - Ichigo slashes twice, followed by his aerial attack.
These link easily, and it can be done with >B rather than ^B.
vB, ^X(7-Koma) - Ichigo breaks their guard, which knockes them up into the
air in front of you. He then chains them into his aerial attack. This
does just as much damage as the chain above, only it takes longer due to
the guard break.
Y, ^X(7-Koma) - Ichigo slashes them in a frenzy, hitting for just a bit
more damage than the above combos. Don't fully use the Y, only a little
will do.
B, >B, Y, ^Y, Aerial Y - Ichigo slashes them up into the air, which is
followed by a flashstepped slash, linking into a flashstep to the ground,
where he'll slash them onto their back. Hits for a good amount of damage.
B, >B, Y(only one tap), >Y - Ichigo slashes them fowards and back again.
See if you can find any way to sucessfully link into and hit with his
7-Koma X. I'm interested, and will give credit. Hollow Ichigo is not as
good for combos, because he takes so long to warm up his specials.
Supports
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Depending on what Koma Ichigo you're using, and depending on the deck, many
different supports may be used. Having problems with keeping foes in their
place? Use Shishio's 2-Koma or Hitsugaya's 3-Koma. They hold/freeze the
target for a short time, while causing damage. You could use one of them
followed by a Getsuga Tenshou, if nobody is around to interrupt your combo.
List of different support and my ideas on their usage:
2 KOMA
Shishio - See above.
Satsuki(? Anyone who submits name gets credit) - Give health regen over
time, healing for a total of 50 health. Great for any deck.
Yourichi - Great for getting out of the fight. You can use her to get back
on the stage from a potential Ring Out, even when you have Movement Stop on
you. You can also use her to Ring Out enemies. Pretty good.
Sanosuke - He's nice for ensuring a Ring Out. If you knock someone off the
stage, Sano can keep them off.
Yusuke - Yusuke is a good Guard Breaker, assuming you are attacking with
him. He can also be used as a worse Trunks, if he doesn't get cancelled.
Hiei - Hiei steals a special bar and cancels them, leaving them open for
you to combo.
Trunks - No, not the infamous Swiss-army Koma. This one takes a second,
then blasts a Burning Attack in front of him. It travels far and can hit
unexpectedly.
3 KOMA
Trunks - The Swiss-Army Koma, he can do anything. Combo, intercept their
attacks, stop a low-health runner, add to your damage, stop them from
guarding just after you guard break, block attacks. Execellent for any
deck.
Sena - Stops them from moving, drains two of their special bars, turns them
around. Good.
Gyro - He can do great damage and makes it so they can't guard. When you
are fighting someone who can't block, kills are easy for you.
Yahiko - He blocks for you, does damage, and makes it so they can't attack.
Those are just some Supports you can use with Ichigo. I'm sure most things
can work, but those are what came to mind.

Playing as Ichigo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ichigo is a bit of a unique person to play as, because of his speed. His
attacks are fast, and easily do damage. He can Guard Break quickly without
need to use a Guard Break Attack. His specials have range and damage, so
what's not to love?
When playing as him, you are the aggressor. Attack. Ichigo wants to do
your killing for you, and he has health to survive long enough. If you
can remember to dodge and block while fighting, you will hardly need to
have healing Koma in the deck. I like to pair Ichigo with a help Koma that
gives Health Regeneration, such as Piccolo or Orochimaru. This will be a
great asset, as you won't need to heal so much.
Ichigo can be energy hungry, especially if you are in Bankai. For this
reason, consider pairing him with a Help Koma like Yusuke, who gives
energy regeneration. With your health and energy coming back with no
work needed, you can fight all the longer without need to retreat.
One beneficial thing to help your relentless comboing is Ichigo's ability
to teleport-dash. This helps you set up to attack as well as being a
super way to dodge. It will save you at least once.
Additionally, know when to get out. In four player Free for All, it can
get a bit crazy where all of the fighting is taking place. With you in the
centre of it, you might get obliterated. Get out and heal before you get
run over by the pack. The worst Ichigo is a dead Ichigo, which also can
take you out of the game. And nobody likes to lose.
