Often times, people put this on the bottom where nobody bothers to
read. I would like to start this guide off by saying thank you
to the developers of this game and to Genroh, the person who created
the most informative and helpful FAQ in the entire JUMP! ULTIMATE
STARS because without Genroh, I would have to guess what the japanese
said and guess around on the mission objectives, which would be
extremely annoying. THANK YOU GENROH!!!

IK1: Introduction
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is the first guide that I have ever written because I am an
extremely lazy person. However, I have become addicted to JUMP!
ULTIMATE STARS and felt the need to write a guide for Ichigo, my
favorite character in both the game and the manga/anime Bleach.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
IK2: Background Information
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Ichigo is from the manga/anime Bleach. The manga/anime is so titled
not because it is about laundry, but rather because Ichigo's hair
is orange. He also wears a black robe and wields a sword. He is the
first character in the list of Bleach characters if you have obtained
him. Ichigo also means strawberry in Japanese. If you want further
information about Bleach, just look it up on wikipedia but beware of
spoilers.

IK3: Why Bankai Ichigo?
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Why Bankai Ichigo? Because he is extremely fast, has high
maneuverability (He can get almost anywhere in the map instantaneously
given the right Help Koma), and he deals a good amount of damage.
If that isn't a good enough incentive to use Bankai Ichigo, maybe a
shiny penny will.

IK4: Acquiring and Evolving Ichigo
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

You first get the basic building block necessary to unlock Ichigo
in the Bleach world. His Help Koma is obtained by KOing opponents
to get the most points in the first mission.

This is the evolution path of Ichigo

   [2]-[3]
[H]-
   [4]-[5]-[6]-[7]-[8]

Cost:

[H]: Help- Obtained from beating first mission, first objective

[2]: Support- 40 Red 5 White
[3]: Support- 80 Red, 20 Green, 10 White

[4]: Battle- 150 Red, 10 White
[5]: Battle- 300 Red, 100 Green, 20 White
[6]: Battle- 500 Red, 100 Green, 30 White
[7]: Battle- 600 Red, 200 Green, 200 White
[8]: Battle- 900 Red, 500 Green, 300 White

To evolve Ichigo to his 7 and 8 Koma (Ichigo's Bankai form),
you must get an upgrade from the Bleach character, Zangetsu. It
cost 200 Red and 100 Blue. He has glasses, a beard, and is found
in the SP objective of the first mission in Planet "J" which
requires you to KO all opponents within 20 seconds.

You will need 2770 Red, 920 Green, 575 White, and 100 Blue to fully
unlock Ichigo including the cost of Zangetsu.

If you were wondering, Ichigo's Bankai Battle koma is shaped like so:

And now the part that actually matters! How strong is Bankai Ichigo?
How useful are his moves? Here are the basics: (Note the moves do not
have delay unless I mention it)

Directional Buttons + A + Select
--------------------------------
Double side direction in the same direction: Dash. Ichigo will go
through the enemy in his dash unlike other characters. This is known
as a flashstep.

Down: Block. Ichigo raises his black sword to block.

A+Down air: Ichigo falls down a lot faster.

A: Jump. Twice=Double Jump.

A+Double side directional: Jump and then flashstep in the air.

Select: Ichigo struggles to pull off his mask. Regain a bit of your
SP gauge. It has about a second delay to fully finish the move.

B Button Moves
--------------
B: A horizontal slash that shifts Ichigo foward a bit.
9 damage to Power/Laughter
13 damage to Knowledge

Side B: A downward slash that covers an arc in front of him. Also
causes Ichigo to steps foward. Has a pretty decent range.
9 damage to Power/Laughter
13 damage to Knowledge

Up B: A diagonal stab that will lift an enemy slightly.
9 damage to Power/Laughter
13 damage to Knowledge

Down B: Has a second delay to use. A black shockwave forms and forces
the character to change. (If they have a second battle character in
their deck)
9 damage to Power/Laughter
13 damage to Knowledge

Y Button Moves
--------------
Y: A blur of slashes will appear and Ichigo will have a black aura
around him. Basically any enemy close by will be slashed and sent
into the air flying. Damage is based on how many slashes you pull
off. (You can increase it if you keep pressing Y) The closer you are
the more slashes will be pulled off generally.
20 max damage to Power/Laughter
30 max damage to Knowledge

Side Y: Ichigo will travel as far as his dash and will immediately stop
and turn around to slash the enemy if they are in his path. (not
if they are on the floor though) The range of the slash appears to be a
down to up slash of the Side B slash. Note that there is a half a second
delay after he uses this move regardless of whether he finds a target
or not.
18 damage to Power/Laughter
27 damage to Knowledge

Up Y: Ichigo will flashstep up, and like the Side Y attack, if there is
an enemy in the distance he has traveled, he will slash them down. The
flashstep up goes higher than his regular jump. (pushing the A button
once) Unlike Side Y, there is no delay regardless of whether he finds
an enemy or not. You should note however that if you press a directional
button immediately after using it, if he has hit an enemy with it,
he will immediately perform his Down Y air attack. Up Y will subtract one
from the total amount of jumps Ichigo can perform.
18 damage to Power/Laughter
27 damage to Knowledge

Down Y air: Ichigo will flashstep straight down to the ground and then
slash horizontally hitting both his left and right side for as much
horizontal range as his Side B attack. This has a 1 second delay after
he slashes.
18 damage to Power/Laughter
27 damage to Knowledge

Down Y: Ichigo stabs his sword into the ground, creating a shockwave
that will break the enemies guard. The radius is as wide as the Down B
shockwave. This attack like most guard breaks has about a second delay.
18 damage to Power/Laughter
27 damage to Knowledge

X Button Moves (Specials)
-------------------------

7 Koma Version:

X: Ichigo shoots a black arc of energy. It is known as a Getsuga Tenshou.
It has about a second delay to shoot and a second delay after he shoots
for a combined total of 2 seconds delay. The attack takes up about half
the screen.
50 damage to Power/Laughter
75 damage to Knowledge

X: (Random): Ichigo does the same thing as in his X attack except this
time he has half a mask on and he needs to pull it off after he shoots his
Getsuga Tenshou. It causes extra damage, extra delay and increases the
size of the arc. It also causes an energy degeneration status effect,
which decreases your SP over time. (Not very much though) The total delay
is about 2 and a half seconds.
75 damage to Power/Laughter
112 damage to Knowledge

Up X: Ichigo will flashstep diagonally this time and like the Side B and
the Up Y attack, will attack enemies in the range of the distance he travels.
Of course, since it is a special, you will see him slashing the enemy
multiply times at an insane speed just like in the anime/manga. Note that
if the enemy blocks, they will not be caught up in the attack and
Ichigo will just end up in the air approximately a forth of the screen
horizontally foward and a third of the screen vertically up. (That is the
distance he travels) Enemies that are a little bit in front of Ichigo
will be caught up in this special if they do not block. Amount of damage
depends on hits. There is a one second delay after he finishes the combo
where Ichigo stands in the air and this special also subtracts one from
the total amount of jumps Ichigo can do.
49 max damage to Power/Laughter
73 max damage to Knowledge

8 Koma Version:

X: Same as the 7 Koma Version except a lot bigger. Two thirds of the
screen approximately. Also, add a second to the total delay as Ichigo
needs to put on his Hollow mask before pulling off the attack. This
time, there is no random X where Ichigo pulls off his mask as he
embraces putting it on.
55 damage to Power/Laughter
82 damage to Knowledge

Up X: Same as the 7 Koma Version except the distance he travels is
a lot further. Vertically he goes up about two thirds of the screen
and horizontally he goes foward a bit more than a forth of the screen.
Also, add a second of delay to the total delay once again as Ichigo
needs to put on his Hollow mask before pulling off the attack.
65 damage to Power/Laughter
97 damage to Knowledge

NOTE:
I personally do not recommend the 8 Koma Version due to the delay
in the special despite the fact that it deals a bit more damage and
has a bit more range than the 7 Koma Version. The only reason I
would use it is purely for style.

IK6: Useful Help Koma
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Ok now for the deck construction! Help Koma that I believe is
essential for the full potential of Bankai Ichigo are listed below:

Eve (Black Cat): She gives you an extra jump. Other options are:
Devil Bat (Eyeshield 21), Hanamichi Sakuragi (Slam Dunk), Gajira
Norimaki (Dr. Slump), and Sipuxiang (Houshin Engi). Having more
than one of them will not increase your total amount of jumps to
more than three. This is also important because it allows you to
air dash with Ichigo an extra time. This allows you to zoom across
the map or jump up to the top of the map instantly as Bankai
Ichigo is already designed to be faster in movement as opposed to
all the other characters.

Yep and thats pretty much it for essential. Any others would just
be up to you. Personally though, I like to use an SP gauge
regenerating Help Character because I use Ichigo's special a lot.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
IK7: Useful Support Koma
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Useful Support Koma is also anything you decide is part of your
playing style. I don't find myself using Support Koma ever if
at all. Anyway, the basic support Koma most people use are the
ones people refer to as the Big Three on the message boards:
3 Koma Trunks, 3 Koma Seiya, and 3 Koma Sena. However, using it
against players may be frowned upon as suggested if you read
the message board.

Personally though, I just use Yoruichi and fill the deck with
Help Koma. Yoruichi gives Ichigo an ally boost and allows you
to escape from a tight situation.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
IK8: Combos & Battle Tactics
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Alright time for Comboing! Though it may be hard to pull off in
a four player battle, with practice, you can pull off some basic
fast ones. Such speedy combos are listed below:

Combos including special
------------------------
Combo 1:
B, Side B, and Up X.

This appears as a side slash, downward slash, then it connects to
the aerial special.
67 max damage to Power/Laughter
100 max damage to Knowledge

Combo 2:
B, Side B, Y, and Up X.

This appears as a side slash, downward slash, followed by the
fast multiple slashes that tosses the enemy into the air allowing
you to catch them with the Up X special. Note that this does not
work if the enemy is thrown behind or above Ichigo after the Y
attack so you take a bit of risk in not being able to connect
it to the Up X special.
87 max damage to Power/Laughter
130 max damage to Knowledge

Down Y + Combo 1 or 2.

This allows you to guard break them and then leading to a Combo
depending on which you like better.
If using Combo 1:
85 max damage to Power/Laughter
127 max damage to Knowledge
If using Combo 2:
105 max damage to Power/Laughter
157 max damage to Knowledge

Y, X

You must use Y to the maximum hits so that the enemy is launched high
enough to give you enough time to shoot off the X special. X can be
replaced with an Up X instead.
70 max damage to Power/Laughter
105 max damage to Knowledge
(If random X happens where Ichigo pulls off his mask in the end)
95 max damage to Power/Laughter
142 max damage to Knowledge

Combos without special
----------------------
B, Side B, Side Y

This is the regular sideway then downward slashes and then
allowing you to dash to the other side of the enemy and slash
them again. It is not a perfect connection however, there is
a bit of delay between the last Side B attack and the Side Y.
36 max damage to Power/Laughter
54 max damage to Knowledge

B, Side B, Y, Up Y, Directional button immediately after

This appears as Combo 2 except instead of finishing it with a
special (the Up X), you finish with a downward slash of the
enemy toward the ground and a dash to the ground for another
slash. Like Combo 2, this requires that the enemy is directly
above you after you finish the Y attack. This can also be modified
with an air dash away after the Up Y but would require a bit of a
wait because pushing the directional button immediately after
results to a Down Y air attack.
Non modded damage:
72 max damage to Power/Laughter
108 max damage to Knowledge

Tactics
-------
-Make use of Ichigo's speed, his flashsteps and his air dashes to
dodge enemies and sneak up on them.

-Don't forget to block when trapped in a tight situation because
when you block their attack, they will have an opening as they will
delay after the end of their combo or attack.

-Don't always rely on having a special to use as well. Personally,
I prefer using the Up X special as opposed to the regular
X special because (1) the Up X special has no delay to use, it only
delays after you use it (which could leave you vulnerable) and (2) the
Up X special hits a lot more times thereby allowing you to recover
a half of your SP gauge or more depending on the amount of enemies
in your attack field.

-If you are caught in Stop, use Ichigo's B attacks and Side Y to
move yourself foward. You can also use Up X to go up if you have
energy in your SP bar.
