1 - INTRODUCTION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main goal of this FAQ is to get around the massive "gaijin trap" in Jump!
Superstars - namely, the Koma unlocking system. If you're not familiar with
this, here's how it works:
Whenever you finish a stage, you get either a Help Koma (1 frame big) or a
Serif Koma. Koma are then used to assemble a "Koma Deck" - actually, a
manga-like design on the bottom screen - which you can tap during the game
to generate effects and change characters.
The kicker is that the really interesting Koma are Support Koma (2-3 frames)
and Battle Koma (4-7) frames. The only way to unlock them, however, is to
unlock an appropriate Serif Koma and then use your native Japanese skills,
plus your obsessive knowledge of every Jump comic ever realised, to work out
which character is speaking in the Serif Koma and drag the appropriate Help
Koma into the box on the Serif Koma.
What, you're NOT a native Japanese speaker with a massive Jump! collection?
Uh-oh.
So, what's below is a list of all the Koma I know about (based on my own
experiments and some Japanese pages) and what you need to unlock them.

Yep, sorry. Unfortunately, there's NO WAY to identify a Serif Koma after
you've unlocked it other than by its name. (You *CAN* do it by which stage
and which goal you unlocked it from, but that doesn't help if you have a load
of Serifs lying around and no idea what to put in them, because you can only
see the unlock point at the time when the koma is first unlocked.)
So, if the following text:

Looks like Japanese text, then your OS and browser support Japanese text -
carry on. If it looks like garbage, you need to obtain Japanese support for
your browser. If you have Windows XP, this can be done on the Control Panel
via the International tab; if you have an older version of Windows you may
need to download the Far East support kit from Microsoft (which is free).
You may also need to set the encoding on your browser to "Japanese Shift-JIS".

2 - KOMA LIST
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In order to help you quickly identify an unknown Serif Koma, this list is
sorted by Koma size. Within that, next to each Serif Koma is an abbrevation for
the series the Koma is drawn from (all characters in a given Koma are
always from the same series), and a list of characters with which it must
be filled together with (in brackets) the Japanese name for that
character. If there are several characters in the list, the Koma must be
filled with all of them, but the first character is the one which is
unlocked.
Only the first eight characters (the ones visible in the browser) of Serif
Koma are listed - this should be enough for you to find it in your Browser
without distorting the format of the FAQ.
Note that even if you don't like or want to use a particular character,
you should still unlock their koma, because it will count towards your koma
collection. Certain secret features require you to have certain numbers
of koma in your collection.
