The first game in the Tantei Jinguji Saburo series was released in 1987 for
the Famicom Disk System. The series is still going in Japan, despite the
original developer, Data East, going bankrupt in 2003. The series was later
picked up by WorkJam, and the series celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 2007,
with the release of 'Inishie no Kioku' on the Nintendo DS.
Despite it's popularity in the Japan, the Tantei Jinguji Saburo series was
never released in the West, until 2008, when Aksys translated and published
'Inishie no Kioku' in North America, under the name 'Jake Hunter: Detective
Chronicles'. However Detective Chronicles contained less than half the
content of it's Japanese counterpart, and and as a result, was not very well
received, by reviewers and players alike.
Rather than be discouraged, Aksys decided to listen to the gamers feedback,
and re-released the game as 'Jake Hunter: Memories of the Past', this time
with all the content cut from Detective Chronicles, and an improved
localisation.
Jake Hunter Unleashed is a series of mini cases. They are shorter than the
cases in the main game, but unlike the main cases, one mistake in an Unleashed
case will result in a swift game over, making the Unleashed cases harder than
the main cases.
There are six Unleashed Cases in total. Case Six will only be unlocked after
completing the first five cases.
In these cases, you must gather information about the crime, and using the
information gathered, deduce the criminal's identity.
On your first playthrough of a case, you will not be able to deduce until
you've done all other possible actions (for example, read a report, interview
the suspects etc..) at least once. Because this is the case for all cases
except six, I will not cover how to initiate deduction.
There is a possible bug in Case Six, I will go into more detail in the case
six section.
After completing a case for the first time, replaying the case will result in
new options appearing in the case, which usually lead to another ending. You
will also be able to initiate deduction straight away.
I have included the ways of getting several of the alternate endings in a case.
I doubt the endings listed are a complete list of all possible endings though,
due to the way the Save system works in Unleashed, (you can save at any point,
but when you load up your save, it will take to a certain point in the case,
rather than where you actually save) I honestly don't have the patience to
try find every single ending, at least not right now. I'll probably try to
find some more later. If you find any endings not listed here, please email
me, and I'll add them to this guide. (With full credit, of course.)
Jake Hunter Unleashed 1: The Death of an Anthropologist: [010]

Jake and Yulia are taking a short break in mountains, but thanks to Jake
forgetting the map, they have gotten lost en-route. Yulia is just
starting to panic when they hear a scream nearby. Yulia drags Jake to
the source of the scream, a large cottage where a man has just been killed.

Yulia walks in the office to find Jake working on a report for a case, but
he's being evasive about the case. He drops one of his notes, and a
curious Yulia flies forward to grab the note, knocking Jake straight into the
wall, damaging Jake's desk, and sending his photo's flying. Panicking, Yulia
decides to straighten out the damage before Jake comes to.

Yulia will then (badly) attempt to repair the desk. Once she's finished
Jake will wake up. Yulia will attempt to lie, but her lies soon come into
the light, when Jake reveals that he has another photograph. He threatens
to use Yulia's pay check to repair the wall, unless she can put the photo's
in order.

'Think about it.' Yulia will point out the paper to Jake, and then ask for
her pay check, but as she damaged the door last week, Jake tells her that she

The medicine has no effect, and a disappointed Samantha walks off, leaving her
medicine kit behind her. Mere seconds after her departure, the medicine
suddenly has an unwanted effect on King, and he is left trying to mix himself
an antidote.

King arrives, and asks for Jake's help in finding the killer of the case he
is currently working on.

Jake Hunter Unleashed 6: The Mysterious Hotel: [060]

King is walking around the towm when he suddenly catches sight of a serial
thief, Brian Hughes. He decides to trail him, in the hopes of finally
arresting him. Samantha soon shows up, and spots King, and decides to trail
him. Then Yulia shows up, sees King and Samantha, and thinking it looks like
fun, also decides to trail them. Then Jake shows up, sees the three of them,
and decides to trail them as well.
King soon realises the other three are following him, and after filling them
in on what he was doing, insists they help him apprehend the thief.
The four of them follow Brian to a hotel, and decide to set up a stakeout,
in order to catch Brian trading stolen goods.
Note: There seems to be an issue with accessing the final step of the
investigation if you choose Yulia to be Jake's partner. This makes it
impossible to deduce and finish the case. If anyone has been able to complete
the case in full with Yulia as Jake's partner, please let me know.

The Bonus episodes focus on Yulia's feud with local gang the Fantastic Bravos,
(F.B). Every time Jake Hunter leaves the office on a case, Yulia sneaks
some special food into the office, only for it to be stolen by a member of the
F.B's before she can eat it, leaving a clue to their next theft, in the form
of a challenge and a puzzle, in place of the food.
In these cases, Yulia must solve the puzzle left for her by the F.B.
The puzzles aren't easy to work out, so I'll first give a run down of how to
solve each puzzle, followed by the solution to the case.

This puzzle is basically a dot-to-dot. From the first number on the puzzle
sheet, draw a line to the second number then to the third and so on. Each
line contains one letter.
