A. Introduction
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to my Multiplayer Strategy Guide. This guide is here to tell you how
to what items are useful (and why), how to grind (save up for) all the items
you might need in a multiplayer battle, how many of these items you should
grind, and which helpers to use, based on my multiplayer experience and
information from other guides.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A.1 Version History
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.1 (May 8, 2007) - Change to usefulness of Metal King Sword, some formatting
changes, and a few minor edits.
1.0 (May 7, 2007) - Initial public version.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. General Tips
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- If you need money to buy anything, keep beating Golems on Flying Clawtress
to get Gold Bars to sell.
- Don't forget to use the Slime Knight to attack enemies on Flying Clawtress
to make the fights go faster.
- Dancing Flames will always give Goody Bags when thrown in water, which you
can do in one place underground.
- If there are multiple places to get an item and I only list a single one,
that's because it's the best place to find that item.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Item Grinds/Item Uses
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Numbers here are arbitrary but items are arranged here from first to last in
order of (my perception of) their performance in multiplayer (except for
Kaboomamite, Vulcan Shells, and Miracle Swords, which are listed after the
recipes that require them).
Only items that I thought were useful to use in multiplayer for some reason
are listed; i.e. they do something useful that no other item does, or they do
it better. (Except for the tablets, which are useless, but hard to grind, so I
included them anyway.)
******************************************************************************
===============
1. Kafrizzle
===============
Kafrizzle = (6) Devil's Tail + (2) Orichalslime
-- Orichalslime = (1) Orichalcum + (5) Toy Slime
-- Orichalcum = (1) Gold Bar + (3) Fire Water
-- Gold Bar = (8) Holy Crystal + (8) Goddess Statue
-- Holy Crystal = (2) Thousandweight + (4) Holy Water
-- Holy Water = (1) Fire Water + (7) Chimaera Wing
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Win from tank battle before final boss or Slival. (best)
- Get Orichalslimes from Killing Machines on Flying Clawtress
*OR*
get Gold Bars from Golems on Flying Clawtress and then get Fire Water from
Dancing Flames on Flucifer's Necropolis (make sure to throw the Flames in the
water), which you can then use to make Orichalcum, and buy some Toy Slimes to
make Orichalslimes.
Devil's Tails must be gotten on Flucifer's Necropolis (only one chest gives
them, in the eastmost room).
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Second-best item in the game, in my opinion (behind only the Hero Sword, which
you can only get two of, to my knowledge). It's relatively fast, sets a huge
fire in your opponent's engine room, and does 90 points of damage, close to
the best in the game. Make sure to get almost a full inventory of these.
******************************************************************************
===============
2. Meteorite
===============
Meteorite = (2) Kaboomamite + (5) Oaken Club
-- Kaboomamite = (2) Vulcan Shells + (1) Crooze
-- Vulcan Shells = (3) Vulcan Bullets + (5) Bombshell
-- Vulcan Bullets = (3) Vulcan Pellets + (3) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
-- Crooze = (5) Bombshell + (9) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Win from tank fight before final boss. (best)
- See Kaboomamite. Get Oaken Clubs on Callmigh Bluff.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Third-best item in the game. It's tied for fastest item in the game and is
faster than the Kafrizzle, while doing almost as much damage (70 points). Good
for catching the enemy off-guard, as most times it'll be impossible for your
opponent to put something up in the air to block it if there isn't something
there already, on account of its speed. Get close to a full inventory of these
too.
******************************************************************************
=================
3. Kaboomamite
=================
Kaboomamite = (2) Vulcan Shells + (1) Crooze
-- Vulcan Shells = (3) Vulcan Bullets + (5) Bombshell
-- Vulcan Bullets = (3) Vulcan Pellets + (3) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
-- Crooze = (5) Bombshell + (9) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- See Vulcan Shells. Buy Bombshells and get Pompoms on Foreword Forest to make
Croozes. (best)
*OR*
get Croozes from Mischevious Moles on Callmigh Bluff.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Fourth-best item in the game. Don't trust the damage listed on the item
screen; that's just an average of what it does in one explosion, and it blows
up ten times at one go, producing an average of 200 damage, which can only be
beat (potentially) by the Mum Missile.
It has some drawbacks though, like going off near your tank and hurting you
or blowing up your ammo instead, and it goes slowly compared to many other
items. This can be offset by good planning, however; make sure you put out a
couple of shields or Hero Swords a little while before sending this out and
it'll usually work great.
You shouldn't need more than 4 or 5 of these; more than that tends to hurt you
and turn into chaos.
******************************************************************************
===================
4. Vulcan Shells
===================
Vulcan Shells = (3) Vulcan Bullets + (5) Bombshell
-- Vulcan Bullets = (3) Vulcan Pellets + (3) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get from Killing Machines on Flying Clawtress. (best)
- Get Vulcan Bullets from Killing Machines on Flying Clawtress and buy
Bombshells.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Good for broadening your strategic range (along with the Vulcan Cannon, of
course, which I believe you can only get three of in the game). Many
strategies can be helped by adding Vulcan Shells + Cannon, since this weapon
is unblockable. But by far the most powerful tactic is integration with a lot
of Chilli Peppers, an almost unbeatable strategy in my experience. Get lots of
Vulcan Shells - at least twenty or so - for this strategy and others.
******************************************************************************
======================
5. Metal King Sword
======================
Metal King Sword = (3) Bastard Sword + (1) Orichalcum
-- Bastard Sword = (8) Chest + (1) Miracle Sword
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Steel Broadsword + (5) Boomerang
-- Steel Broadsword= (2) Girder + (1) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
*OR*
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Medicinal Herb + (4) Shuriken
-- Shuriken = (2) Chest + (2) Chimaera Wing
-- Orichalcum = (1) Gold Bar + (3) Fire Water
-- Gold Bar = (8) Holy Crystal + (8) Goddess Statue
-- Holy Crystal = (2) Thousandweight + (4) Holy Water
-- Holy Water = (1) Fire Water + (7) Chimaera Wing
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Win from Slival. (best)
- Get Bastard Swords from the western piggy bank on Mount Krakatroda or Rusty
on Flying Clawtress (or make Bastard Swords from Miracle Swords, and get
Chests from anywhere - see Miracle Sword for details) and get Gold Bars from
Golems on Flying Clawtress, and then get Fire Water from Dancing Flames on
Flucifer's Necropolis (make sure to throw the Flames in the water), which you
can then use to make Orichalcum.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
I don't use any of these personally, since the Kafrizzle is the same speed,
sets fires, and does ten more damage, but since its damage is not far off you
may want to use them anyway. If you use them, you'll probably want a bunch of
them, like with the Kafrizzle and the Kaboomamite.
******************************************************************************
=======================
6. Metal King Shield
=======================
Metal King Shield= (2) Orichalcum + (5) Toy Slime
-- Orichalcum = (1) Gold Bar + (3) Fire Water
-- Gold Bar = (8) Holy Crystal + (8) Goddess Statue
-- Holy Crystal = (2) Thousandweight + (4) Holy Water
-- Holy Water = (1) Fire Water + (7) Chimaera Wing
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get Gold Bars from Golems on Flying Clawtress, and then get Fire Water from
Dancing Flames on Flucifer's Necropolis (make sure to throw the Flames in the
water), which you can then use to make Orichalcum, and buy the Toy Slimes.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
The most powerful shield in multiplayer, in my view. Since it takes four hits
from most items to knock it down, it can absorb an awful lot of punishment,
especially in pairs or trios. The Mirror Shield may be better in some
circumstances but overall I feel this shield does better. Get as many of these
as you can stand to grind; at least three or four, but up to fifteen or so for
true strategic diversity.
******************************************************************************
===================
7. Mirror Shield
===================
Mirror Shield = (7) Iron Shield + (3) Miracle Sword
-- Iron Shield = (2) Chest + (1) Thousandweight
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Steel Broadsword + (5) Boomerang
-- Steel Broadsword= (2) Girder + (1) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
*OR*
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Medicinal Herb + (4) Shuriken
-- Shuriken = (2) Chest + (2) Chimaera Wing
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get from eastern piggy bank on Mount Krakatroda. (best, but may be difficult
for some people to do)
- See Miracle Sword. Get Chests and Thousandweights on Mount Krakatroda to
make Iron Shields.
- Get from Platypunks on Flying Clawtress.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Good second-best to the Metal King Shield, and can possibly cause more havoc
sometimes if you can reflect good stuff like Metal King Shields, Hero Swords,
Kafrizzles, or Kaboomamite. Get at least three or four but again up to fifteen
or so could be useful for real strategic flexibility, especially if you can
hit the piggy bank to grind it quickly.
******************************************************************************
===================
8. Miracle Sword
===================
Miracle Sword = (4) Steel Broadsword + (5) Boomerang
-- Steel Broadsword= (2) Girder + (1) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
*OR*
Miracle Sword = (4) Medicinal Herb + (4) Shuriken
-- Shuriken = (2) Chest + (2) Chimaera Wing
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get Chests and Chimaera Wings on Mount Krakatroda to make Shurikens, and buy
the Medicinal Herbs. (best)
- Get Steel Broadswords from Restless Armours on Flying Clawtress, and
Boomerangs on Mount Krakatroda.
- Get from Mimics on Flucifer's Necropolis.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Listed here mainly as a precursor to other grind possibilities but might be an
interesting component of a few strategies, since this is the only item in the
game that allows you to heal based on the damage you do. It does a respectable
70 point swing (-35 for opponent, +35 for you) and goes as fast as the
Kafrizzle. Feel free to grind some to try it out for yourself.
******************************************************************************
=====================
9. Edged Boomerang
=====================
Edged Boomerang = (5) Boomerang + (2) Iron Shield
-- Iron Shield = (2) Chest + (1) Thousandweight
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get Boomerangs on Mount Krakatroda, and get Chests and Thousandweights on
Mount Krakatroda as well to make Iron Shields.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Fifth-best item in the game, and possibly better than Kaboomamite or even
Meteorites, I'm not sure yet. It's fabulous for clearing out tons of enemy
items (and doesn't blow up your stuff, unlike the Chilli Pepper), and can only
be KO'd by the Hero Sword, Metal King Shield, Mirror Shield, or Chilli Pepper.
Get at least four of these but again I feel that even ten to fifteen of these
could be useful.
******************************************************************************
===================
10. Chilli Pepper
===================
Chilli Pepper = (3) Fire Water + (4) Pompom
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get from Dancing Flames on Flucifer's Necropolis (make sure to throw the
Flames in the water). (best)
- Get from Jinksters on Flying Clawtress.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
A item that's great to have at least one or two of around to counter big enemy
rushes. Just try to avoid having too many around if you have cannon-loading
helpers, as it can be tough to keep your helpers from loading them and blowing
up your in-flight ammo too.
As mentioned above, this can also be used as an amazing one-two punch with a
lot of Vulcan Shells/Cannons. Grind a bunch (at least ten) if you plan on
trying this; otherwise, you shouldn't need more than a few of these.
******************************************************************************
=======================
11. Special Medicine
=======================
Special Medicine = (3) Strong Medicine + (9) Goddess Statue
-- Strong Medicine = (2) Goddess Statue + (3) Medicinal Herb
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get from Jinksters on Flying Clawtress. (best)
- Get Chimaera Wings and Slime Knights on Mount Krakatroda to make Goddess
Statues, and buy Medicinal Herbs to make Strong Medicines.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
Still not sure personally if this item is really useful or not, or if another
item or Curate Rollo might be better instead in most strategies. They're easy
enough to get from Jinxsters if you want to check for yourself, though, and I
would recommend having at least four or five on hand just in case.
******************************************************************************
================
12. Iritaball
================
Iritaball = (4) Rockbomb + (3) Iron Ball
-- Iron Ball = (1) Oaken Club + (3) Thousandweight
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get from Cactiballs and Picksys on Flucifer's Necropolis. (best)
- Get from second-to-last tank fight on Flying Clawtress (the one to the left
before the room with the Killing Machines).
- Get Rockbombs on Mount Krakatroda or Callmigh Bluff, and Oaken Clubs on
Callmigh Bluff and Thousandweights on Mount Krakatroda to make Iron Balls.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
I doubt these are really much use in multiplayer, but since I'm not 100% sure
they're useless I've listed them here for completeness. Too slow to be any use
outside of hiding behind shields, so make sure you have those as well.
******************************************************************************
===================
13. Power Tablet
===================
Power Tablet = (9) Oaken Club + (9) Bastard Sword
-- Bastard Sword = (8) Chest + (1) Miracle Sword
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Steel Broadsword + (5) Boomerang
-- Steel Broadsword= (2) Girder + (1) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
*OR*
-- Miracle Sword = (4) Medicinal Herb + (4) Shuriken
-- Shuriken = (2) Chest + (2) Chimaera Wing
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get Oaken Clubs at Callmigh Bluff and Bastard Swords from the western piggy
bank on Mount Krakatroda or Rusty on Flying Clawtress (or make Bastard Swords
from Miracle Swords, and get Chests from Foreword Forest or Mount Krakatroda -
see Miracle Sword for details).
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
None. Here's why:
- too time-consuming to stack the tablets effectively (they have to be in
order)
- takes up WAY too much inventory space to have enough tablets to make drills
consistently (at least 18 or 21 spaces for a reliable supply, and occasionally
not even then!)
- too easy to take the drills out in the air (they only take three hits max
and can be whacked by a single shield or Edged Boomerang)
- doesn't do anywhere near enough damage or cause anywhere near enough chaos
in your opponent's tank, considering all of the above
I've included it (and the other two tablets) in this guide since the grinds
for them are rather difficult, and people might want to see for themselves
that grinding these difficult items is ultimately worthless. So here it is
anyway.
******************************************************************************
=======================
14. Overdrive Tablet
=======================
Overdrive Tablet = (3) Orichalslime + (3) Pompom
-- Orichalslime = (1) Orichalcum + (5) Toy Slime
-- Orichalcum = (1) Gold Bar + (3) Fire Water
-- Gold Bar = (8) Holy Crystal + (8) Goddess Statue
-- Holy Crystal = (2) Thousandweight + (4) Holy Water
-- Holy Water = (1) Fire Water + (7) Chimaera Wing
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
-- Goddess Statue = (6) Chimaera Wing + (2) Slime Knight
-- Fire Water = (2) Bombshell + (4) Pompom
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- Get Gold Bars from Golems on Flying Clawtress and get Fire Water from
Dancing Flames on Flucifer's Necropolis (make sure to throw the Flames in the
water), which you can then use to make Orichalcum, and buy some Toy Slimes to
make Orichalslimes (preferred)
*OR*
get Orichalslimes from Killing Machines on Flying Clawtress
and get Pompoms on Foreword Forest.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
None, it's only here because the grind is hard. See Power Tablet for more
info.
******************************************************************************
====================
15. Weapon Tablet
====================
Weapon Tablet = (3) Vulcan Shells + (3) Bluestreak
-- Vulcan Shells = (3) Vulcan Bullets + (5) Bombshell
-- Vulcan Bullets = (3) Vulcan Pellets + (3) Iron Arrow
-- Iron Arrow = (2) Slime Knight + (5) Catnip
*OR*
-- Iron Arrow = (5) Wooden Arrow + (5) Obelisk
-- Bluestreak = (2) Crooze + (3) Shiruken
-- Crooze = (5) Bombshell + (9) Pompom
-- Shuriken = (2) Chest + (2) Chimaera Wing
Grind recommendation:
---------------------
- See Vulcan Shells. Get Bluestreaks from Killing Machines on Flying
Clawtress.
Usefulness in multiplayer:
--------------------------
None, it's only here because the grind is hard. See Power Tablet for more
info.

Health: 3 HP
Notes: Can heal you and/or everyone to max HP but this is probably not

Notes: Can mess up an opponent's tank good, but requires you or your partner
to man it and doesn't help in any other way.
-- Mama Mia --
Health: 4 HP

-- Jailcat --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Never really does its job, even though it can infiltrate quickly.
-- Jinkster --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Attacks don't do much damage, and it's a slow ammo-loader.
-- Living Statue --
Health: 2 HP
Notes: Too slow.
-- Mimic --
Health: 4 HP
Notes: No one falls for its chest gimmick, and fetching ammo stinks as an
ability.
-- Mother Glooperior --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Healing everyone in small amounts is useless as a second ability.
-- Platypunk --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Not good at its abilities.
-- Restless Armour --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Doesn't do much damage.
-- Swotsy --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Other people with the same abilities move faster, and it can't attack
or defend itself.
-- Tokyo Tom --
Health: 4 HP
Notes: Ammo supply and camo are awful abilities.
-- Walking Corpse --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Too slow, even though it instantly respawns.
-- Wyrtle --
Health: 3 HP
Notes: Too slow.
