1. Intro****************************************B1***************************
Welcome to my 15th FAQ. ...Has it really been that many? I mean, eight months
I've been here on GameFAQs and averaging two FAQs per month. *ahem* Anyways,
this is the first FAQ/Walkthrough for Brain Age: Arts & Letters. Enjoy.

2. Some Quick Stuff****************************************B2****************
Upon starting, you are asked to give a pic of yourself, your name, and
birthday. Afterwards, you take a quick test to see your "Brain Age," or how
strong your brain is. 20 is the best score. Hopefully, you will score within
the 30s, at worst. This, if under 20 years old, is just a rough indicator, and
likely will change as you age and learn.

Afterwards, in the menu, you can do some Training, Themes, or another Brain Age
Check. You do some Training/Brain Age Check and you will get a stamp for the
day. Get enough of these and you'll unlock new modes, games, and options.

All of these things are covered in the following sections.

3. Training****************************************B3************************
I- Reading Aloud **B31**
During this, you will be given a section from a book to read. Once done, tap
"Next" on the Touch Screen to see the next two pages. This main goal of this
is to see how many syllables you can read in a second. Aim for 4 or 5 per
second.

II- Word Scramble **B32**
1- Basic Rules **B321**
On the left screen, you will see a group of letters. Although you may not be
able to tell it, but they make a word. Write this word on the Touch Screen.

Alternately, you can pass, but that still penalizes you.

III- Photo Recall **B33**
1- Basic Rules **B331**
During this mode, you will see a picture. Memorize it. On the next screen,
a new picture pops up and you are asked to select which you previously saw.

You also may use pictures taken in the DSi Camera.

(Get 18 stamps)

Same as before, except you are shown two pictures at the start, then asked to
pick the one shown TWO times earlier.

IV- Word Attack **B34**
1- Basic Rules **B341**
(Get 1 stamp)

A word appears and you are asked to memorize and write it. You can hit "Try
Again" to see the word again, but have all of that word's previous progress
erased.

2- Space Mode **B342**
(Get 6 stamps)

Words and letters will appear on screen. Write them to destroy them. Take too
many hits and you'll lose.

Press AYXB to destroy all of the enemies. One use only.

V- Piano Player **B35**
1- Basic Rules **B351**
(Get 10 stamps)

During this, you play a song, such as Red River Valley or Ode to Joy, by
tapping the appropriate key on the piano in time with the music. The more
correct notes you play, and the more in tune with the beat you are, the higher
your score will be. Try to get 80.

2- Hard Mode **B352**
(Get 27 stamps)

During this, you have NO IDEA what the notes and keys are, but are still
supposed to tap what you think the correct notes are.

3- Song Select **B353**
(Get 20 stamps)

After unlocking this, you can select which song you play. NOTE: Only for the
second time and thereafter that day.

Song Name: The song's name.
Octave starts with...: What note appears twice (ie. C in CBAGFEDC)
Black Notes: Sharp/Flat: Do the black keys play a sharp (#) or flat (b) note?

VI- Meet and Greet **B36**
1- Basic Rules **B361**
(Get 24 stamps)

You are asked to memorize a person's face and the details on their card. After
that, you'll be asked several questions about said person. Write your answers
on the Touch Screen.

(Get 30 stamps)

This is like Normal mode, but you have to memorize multiple people and cards
before questioning.

VII- Virus Buster **B37**
(Get 13 stamps)
(Receive a stamp for the day)

This is just like Dr. Mario. You take the pills and line up the appropriate
colors with the corresponding viruses. If there is a line of four of the same
color vertically (up & down) and/or horizontal (left & right) then the pill
pieces and viruses (if any) disappear. Destroy all of the viruses to complete
that level.

4. Themes****************************************B4**************************
I- Acting **B41**
In this theme, you use the DSi Camera to take picture of your face of how you
would act in various situations.

II- Drawing **B42**
Using the stylus, draw a picture of what is described on the left side.

III- Talking **B43**
Using the Mic, talk into and say, with feeling, what you are told to say. Try
to say it as if it is really happening.

5. Brain Age Check****************************************B5*****************
I- Basics **B51**
You will take three tests. Depending on how fast and accurately you finish
these tests, you may get a good or bad Brain Age score. Doing this will also
give you a stamp for the day, if you have not gotten one yet. The scores are
only saved ONCE per day. From 12:00.00 AM to 11:59.59 PM is the time range for
a Brain Age check.

II- Tests **B52**
1- Stroop Test **B521**
You must say the color of the word, be it on the Touch Screen or top screen.
Remember, the COLOR of the word, not the word itself!

2- Word Memory **B522**
You are asked to memorize a list of words for a few minutes. Afterwards, you
get several minutes to write down all of the words you can recall.

3- Connect Maze **B523**
On the Touch Screen, you will see 13 letters and 13 numbers. You are required
to connect them as follows:

A --> 1 --> B --> 2 --> C --> 3 --> D --> 4 --> E --> 5 --> F --> 6 --> G -->
7 --> H --> 8 --> I --> 9 --> J --> 10 --> K --> 11 --> L --> 12 --> M --> 13

4- Rock-Paper-Scissors **B524**
On the left screen, you'll a hand representing a rock, paper, or scissors.
Above it, you'll see some conditions. Follow those conditions in this match.
When you think you have followed the directions, say your answer into the Mic.
Here are the answers:

5- Symbol Match **B525**
On the left screen, you'll see various numbers lined up with symbols, as well
as a list of numbers. As the numbers on the list appear, write their
corresponding symbols on the Touch Screen.

6. Other Options****************************************B6*******************
Create Souvenir Photo
Makes a picture of everyone and their Brain Age scores that were taken most
recently.

Graph
Check the graph and your progress in each Training program and Brain Age.

Top 3
See your top three scores in each Training program or Brain Age Check game.

Theme Albums
See what everyone has done in each theme.

Compare Brain Age
Ryuta Kawashima - "Zzzzzzzzz..."

Slideshow (Complete 2 themes)
See all of the drawing themes as a slideshow.

Tips (Get 16 stamps)
See all of the tips Ryuta has given you.

Retake Portrait
Re-take your profile photo.

Redo Signature
Rewrite your profile signature.

Stamp Design (Get 3 stamps)
Create your own stamp.

Change Pen Tip (Get 22 stamps)
Make the pen tip a brush-like, pen-like, or let it change depending on the
game.

Comment Settings (Get 8 stamps)
Change how much Ryuta talks.

Change Reading Font Size
Change how big the font is.

Change Handedness
Do write with your left or right hand?

Delete My Data

8. Cheating****************************************B8************************
Destroy all enemies (Word Attack Space Mode):
During the Space mode of the Word Attack training game, if you press AYXB
exactly in that order, all of the enemies on screen will be destroyed. NOTE:
You only get to use this one time every time you train with this.

Read Aloud Quick Finish:
During Read Aloud, if you wait about 5 sec. and then tap "Next," you'll be on
the next two pages. This will highly increase your syllables per sec, up to
9.0 to 11.0 in most cases.
