The 3rd Phantom
Bleach Tower Walkthrough
====What is this guide?====
This FAQ is not a full game guide for Bleach: The 3rd Phantom. It is for the
post-game section called the Bleach Tower. If you have not yet completed the
main story, do not use this guide. This guide will not cover controls, as you
should know them already.
Bleach Tower is a 30 stage bonus for completing the story. After beating Super
Hollow Seigen and watching the ending scenes, you will see a scene with Urahara
explaining just what the Tower is. This guide will outline what you are up
against at the start of each stage, and any possible bonuses from them.
As time goes on, I may provide some tips and strategies, but no promises.
====What you should know====
Besides knowing the controls of the game, there are a few things you
should be aware of before going into the Bleach Tower:
1) The Type Cycle--You should have seen the Power, Speed, Tech, Non-Com,
and All types many times throughout the game. If you do not know how
this works by now, you probably shouldn't be this far in the game, but I will
give the basic run-down regardless:
Every character has a type for battle. The five aforementioned types
are each strong and/or weak against at least two others.
Power characters are strong against Speed characters.
Speed characters are strong against Tech characters.
Tech characters are strong against Power characters.
Characters listed as Non-Com cannot attack, and every other type is strong
against them.
Characters listed as All are strengthened against all four other types.
Two characters in battle that share a type are not strengthened.
2) Adjacent Support and Team attacks--Again, another thing you
should be familiar with. Team attacks only work if the two characters
have one another in their co-op slots, which is done on the character
select screen before the battle.
3) Sky Rifts--These showed up a few times in the story, including the final
battle. Here are a few things you need to know about Sky Rifts:
a) On their first turn, they can summon a Hollow that takes up one space
on the field (e.g. Familiars, Screamers, Frog Heads, etc.)
b) The first Hollow they summon will be the same level as the Rift. After
that Hollow is killed, the Rift will summon another of the same kind of
Hollow, but of a different type on the Type Cycle, and two levels higher.
When that one is killed, the Rift will then summon the same kind of
Hollow again, but of the third type, another two levels higher.
If the Rift is allowed to keep summoning enemies, it will be the same
as the third Hollow it summoned, including level and type.
Any in-battle reward dropped by the third summoned Hollow will also
be dropped by the fourth, fifth, and so on.
c) They CANNOT move. This is self explanatory.
d) They are of the Non-Com (or Non Combat) type. This means that they will
always guard against attacks, they cannot make attacks, and all attacking
characters will have increased strength against them. If you can get to
them, they go down pretty easily.
4) Bankai--Bankai is one of the most thrown around terms in the series proper.
If, by this point in the game, you are unfamiliar with the term Bankai, I
would recommend going back and reading the manga, watching the anime, or
just looking it up on the Bleach Wiki. I'm not going to use this FAQ to
explain one of the most fundamental terms in Bleach.
The following characters are able to use Bankai when their Spiritual
Pressure bar is at maximum (in order of appearance on the character select
screen):
Fujimaru OR Matsuri KudÅ. Only the one you chose at the start of the game
can use Bankai. The names are KokyÅ« RyÅ«jÅmaru and RyÅ«kyÅ« KotÅmaru,
respectively.
Byakuya Kuchiki - Senbonzakura Kageyoshi
Renji Abarai - HihiÅ Zabimaru
Sajin Komamura - KokujÅ Tengen MyÅ'Å
Kaname TÅsen - Suzumushi Tsuishiki: Enma KÅrogi
TÅshirÅ Hitsugaya - Daiguren HyÅrinmaru
Ikkaku Madarame - RyÅ«mon HÅzukimaru
Mayuri Kurotsuchi - Konjiki Ashisogi JizÅ
Ichigo Kurosaki - Tensa Zangetsu
5) You should finally know that what I am giving you for each stage is the
STARTING list of opponents. I cannot predict how many Sky-Rift made enemies
you will kill before destroying that Rift. I will document the ones I know
about. Also, sometimes, after defeating an enemy, more will spawn,
usually a few familiars. This does not happen often, and it is scripted in.
I will try to note down any I come across. If you find any that I missed,
you may send it to me and I will try to add it as soon as possible.
6) I would also like to explain the naming conventions that I will use
throughout this FAQ. You'll notice that, for many characters' names,
I use a different spelling than the game (most notably, "Suì-Fēng" over
"Soi Fon"). What I am using is a combination of the official spellings
of the characters' names per Tite Kubo in the official Bleach databooks
in their original Japanese print (which uses English spellings), and
the standard diacritics that show up in romanized Japanese (such as the
accent over the "ū" in "Uryū"). When the aforementioed databooks were
translated, the companies involved changed names already spelled out with
English letters to suit their own designs, and the localized versions
of the various video games followed suit. I disagree with the changes these
companies made, and will be using the names as Kubo himself wrote them.
====Common Enemies====
Here is a list of non-unique Hollows that will often show up on a number
of stages. Some of them are just the game equivalent of Hollows that showed up
in the anime and manga with different names:
Evil Eater - This is the generic form of the original antagonist from
early in the game, Mad Eater.
--Much like the original Mad Eater, these guys have a skill that can
drain HP from a target. Unlike the original Mad Eater, these generic
versions are either Power, Speed, or Tech-type, and not All.
Familiar - This game's version of Shrieker's exploding mini-Hollows
--These guys like to explode, much like their anime/manga counterparts
when they do, they lose all but one of their health, and any enemies
that it hits take that much damage.
Frog Head - This game's version of the Demi-Hollow, who made his anime and
manga debut at the same time as Don Kanonji
Grand Savage - This game's version of Grand Fisher.
Hell Mantis
Huge Hollow - Seriously, that's their name. Huge Hollow.
Menos Grande - these are all Gillians, the most basic form of Menos.
Numb Jelly - This game's version of Numb Chandelier.
Screamer - This game's version of Shrieker.
--These guys can generally use a flash-step based skill.
Wide Bone - This game's version of Fishbone D.
You will also find numerous other characters as enemies, such as Shinigami and
Arrancar from Bleach canon. Any appearances of these characters will be noted
with a (!) rather than how many of the enemy appear (since there will only
ever be one per stage).
